Mine is walrus - don't know how many times I've entered that!
busy, too, freep. Our weather has been absolutely gorgeous, so we have been enjoying sitting on the porch, as long as the weather will allow.
I'll type it in, Liz, to see if it works for me :-)
And wizard
Love autumn, but sure not looking forward to what comes next :(
Let me know, freep!
First word I tried was wizardry
Wizard was the first word I saw, too.
It was still 80 at 10 PM here when I walked the dog, so I'll just wait til autumn first before thinking of the next....
Wow, still, 80!

I play word chums that helps and work on dollhouse items but you still get bored

one's probably more ceremonial
su7 is a Latin plural - not sure if that's the one you were guessing at, meliae
Hmm ok
Not seeing it :(
I'd never heard of it
Probably going all around the actual spelling
just had to get it eventually typing things that looked like words :)
Ok clue it I give
su + name of a smart girl and the cartoon she starred in
it's a plural formed similar to stadia
FWs
Crazy word for sure looking it up
Congrats Diz!
ty
apparently "veronica" is a synonym - so that's what it means as a non-proper noun...
in ancient Rome) a cloth, usually of linen, for wiping the face; handkerchief. From a Latin word to sweat, that word is going in my collection :)
Congrats, Diz
wtg Diz!
Pardon me while I get my su***** to wipe my brow it is quite warm in here.

tonight is the inaugural film night at our church. don is setting the place up as we speak. we are showing the best exotic marigold hotel as our first film. don feels it would be good if we could have an informal get together where no-one has to work hard in any way.
Been kind of head in the grid and couldn't remember!
looks like the gang's all here :)
g'day liz girl
np - I went off and did some clearing up ready for the next lot of food tonight!!!

I have decided I do not like this grid and in protest I am not going to complete it.
flosey, maggie smith, judy dench
Sounds interesting Granny

ah yes, I do remember it, I like anything with Judy Dench in it - about the same with Maggie Smith
weare having nibbles beforehand, with a interval about half way through. the old bladders just can't make it through the long haul....well mine can't anyway....lol
Also Tom Wilkinson and Bill Nighy
Lol Granny
Saw Judi Dench and Dev Patel (also from the film) interviewed on Graham Norton - hysterical!
yes liz...and who can remeber maggie smith's absolute cracker of a one-liner in the opening scenes. the one about the fruit.
:)
A great choice of film for you evening - will have to be liked by all .
she's talking to a doctor who is telling her about the long waiting lists for surgery, and she says...young man, at my age, i don't even buy green bananas.
My vocabulary is sadly lacking for words beginning with A Having a real struggle with them.
So many clever lines!
oh lol! sounds like a must-see

Time for me to be off - stuff to do in preparation for the Sabbath. Perhaps back later, otherwise tomorrow am. Hugs to all :)

ruby you still here?
yes, hello sweetie
yesterday Burt did the ultimate passive-aggressive act because I went to the movies wqith my fried.
* big sloppy grin* lovely
oh dear what did he do?
I had put dinner into the over, all prepared and told him to do one thing only, turn ONE know on the oven at 3PM. We practiced about a dozen times
When I got home at 5, he had turned on the oven, re-adjusted both dials AND taken out the chicken and sweet otatoes.
When I got home at 5, he had turned on the oven, re-adjusted both dials AND taken out the chicken and sweet otatoes.
He ate a sandwich for dinner
He blamed me for not explaining carefully (and I had even written it down)
oh dear....what was he thinking?
or rather was he thinking at all?
I refuse t be blackmailed into never going out
not thinking or had a very active (and hateful) subconscious
ah well, if he wants sandwiches for dinner...let him have sandwiches. but that spoils it for you, because it is also your dinner which has not been cooked.
It's very unpleasant and scary at the same time. It is hard to feel sorry for him consistently
oh, and I had to hear that when I'm gone, Rufie is heartbroken. Please!!!@
it's hard work, dear. and you still aren't sure if it is deliberate or a genuine mistake.
Even if it's a mistake, he doesn't have to blame me
well he's mr perfect, didn't you know that? he wouldn't make the mistake. so it has to be you. i wonder if there is a touch of narcissism.
I have to go and get dressed. XX, my friend, ty for listening to my rant
a touch???
np's sweetie. xoxox
k
good morning everyone:)
Hi! Most upset that something that RESEMBLES the li6/36 can't be turned into a seven with a y...
I just tried that one too :)
howdy matty
Good morning all
howdy sukee
Hi crossy
Also, a rude(ish) word isn't accepted :(
I'm a sick puppy
Lol, we must have the same brain. I tried that also.
morning all :-)
howdy wolvie
Hi wolvie
Hi kids.
morning scrabbs
howdy scrabby
After I work the morning session I am going kayaking!
yaaaa!
nice :-)
get it in now, scrabby. before you know it we shall have to polish up the snowshoes!
I have worked way too much in the last 2 weeks and I am burned out.
Yes, Crossy, we have our first snowfall in the first week of November typically, but we have several summery days to enjoy now.
This is my favorite time. Already the sugar maples are turning and the forest on the mountain are exploding in a riot of colours:)
Yes, the leaves are changing colors here and should be at peak in 1-2 wks.
cooler here but no color changes yet- a few tomatoes still ripening
I have some green tomatoes too--my first and only of the season. It was dismal for tomatoes this summer. Too wet. I need to plant in containers next year.
we have had one frost already and the last of the apples are coming out of the orchards in the next two weeks. I am looking forward to all that fresh cider:)
yum!
No frost here yet, but usually the first week in October.
ugh- all these a s are driving me crazy lol
We are in a apple belt here and have many varieties. My favorite is a type called Goldencrisp. They are the size of both my fists held together, and a single apple can make an entire pie:)
Wow. I never heard of that type.
yup:)
we had a similar sized one in Massa - wolf something- cant quite recall- i have never seen it elsewhere
A hybrid of course, but still tasty.
sweet enough that all they need along with them in a pie is a TBS of brown sugar and some allspice or cinnamon
off to brekkie- bb later - hagd all
tc wolvie
And I must grab some yogurt.
You would be proud of me scrabby. i am eating more yogurt and oatmeal and much less bacon;)
bacon is too bloody expensive at the moment!
Good for you. I have been eating cottage cheese recently, and mix in fruit and nuts.
I mix in granola clusters
Doing this with French vanilla is my favorite.
Raspberry Greek yogurt is my addiction.
Now I must get ready for work and pack clothes, food, and gear for my afternoon of kayaking. I want to leave the office at 12!
I managed to find 50 words. Not an easy grid for me. Bye, Crossy.
morning friends
lard
whoops
howdy trif
hi crossy!
how are you?
Not bad at all:) Classes are going well, the sun is shining and life is good.. well, just need the lottery numbers for next week and it would be a far sight better, but i am not complaining too badly.
amen brother
hello hello {{crossy}} and {{trif}}

It would be lovely to have a brother like cossy
it will be lovely when this endless school week ends....I need a weekend SO BADLY
"my life is a weekend"
((ruby))

I am thoroughly enjoying my classes. I am even thinking of adding one more.

My cat is crazy. he sits on objects like they are eggs that he is trying to hatch. lately he has gotten into the habit of climbing up on my desk to do this; the problem is that he chooses my mouse as his next target and I end up with sphincter-mouse:(
ttfn ruby and welcome crossy
lol sphincter mouse....
lol oh my
and all cats are nuts, I am convinced
nuts and ADHD
fell off my chair hahah
:)
I keep sterile baby wipes on hand to remedy sphincter-mouse issues
lol- poor crossy
i have to make a run to the store- bb later
and we all must head off to class. tc all and happy babbling
I have to split as well - first period is over, off to chorus.
Crossy, I just read about your sphincter-mouse issues...my cats (3 boys) do the same thing. My husband calls it suction-cupping.
Good Morning Everyone - this grid has BIG teeth
as a dog person, i find your cats' behavior both bizarre and hilarious!! LOL!
(did i offend the cat people?)
Une, I bet your dogs never have computer mice up their butts : D
Hi Une :) crossy left a while ago so no offence taken
No offense Une. Cat people know cats are bizarre and hilarious that's what makes them so lovable. And, of course, cat people are bizarre and hilarious as well. :)
:-)
it's like the goofball cocker I had many yrs ago -- whenever he farted, she ran out of the room LOL
all our pets are nutty :-)
*she
Yes, pets are great. They make life very enjoyable.
and my mom had a springer who wouldn't go in a room where there was a vacuum cleaner :-)
I have a dog like that. He is terrified of the vacuum cleaner.
and MY springer was totally terrified of balloons -- made things complicated when i decorated for my daughter's birthdays :-)
yiikes, just looked at the time -- later, all :-)
hagd une
i don't understand something
caries are cavities and when that is here it accepts it. but it doesn't accept cary or carie or carey so what on earth is the singular supposed to be?
diabetes is singular
Salutations, global inhabitants!
so if i have one cavity, it's caries?
Caries is both singular and plural, according to a medical dictionary
I believe so
oh
rabies also singular
yes but cavities are such specifically identifiable things, it is weirder. you would not think of having "a rabie" or "a diabete", you either have the thing or you don't
Scabies, rabies, babies... oh, wait.
lol
Heebie-jeebies.
this is just a hard one i guess
Nothing fair about English
like life

tadone!! finito! tricky grid.
is the site acting up for anyone else?
The site has been unstable for weeks now.
just seems bad today. not fully loaded after 19 minutes, still spinning. had not noticed in recent weeks.
I had noticed delays of a couple seconds from entering words to seeing the feedback a lot more than usual in recent days, wondered if it was my connection

good evening everyone:)
Never trust an atom. They make up everything.
Good evening Babbleonia
As a writer, so do i.:)
Don't trust electrons either, there's always a spin to them.
yard
oops
my bad
Never trust a quark, the can be strange or charming.
I don't mind - already finished
clue for the first ly5
l + the most recent penalty box
ty gremlinn
I see Lazarus in the grid!
Gremlinn, are you here early or late. I thought you mostly came around at the flip.
Sometimes lately I am here often throughout the day.
I never chat until I finish the grid though.
That is my downfall. i get rolling in the chog and the grids slows as a result:/
You get chogbogged!
Yes, but you feed us such wonderful tidbits.
cogbogged! I love it!
chogbogged*
Yes, I am sorry the tidbits have not be so forthcoming of late, but my classes have been keeping me occupied.
what classes are you taking? (hello btw)
What are you taking this term, crossy?
I am taking ENG4U )a university writers craft class, then I shal be taking ENG4U afterwards
EWC4U*
then the other
fiction?
I have already finished the college ENG3C and 4C
Surely you must come across some interesting tidbits in that class.
durras
Yes, This EWC4U is crative writing, not so structured as the rest
I do indeed, wht
creative
Creative writing is a lot harder than destructive writing.
Bugs, I think crossy left some kind of bacon treat for you in the PB
interesting. i've never tried fiction, i imagine it to be difficult. mostly where to start.
right now I am doing "found poetry" and short story analysis and writing my own sort story in a weeks time.
Starting is easy, you just hold your arm over the page, open up a vein, and bleed:)
oh nuts. Thanks wht. i did not even notice. I came back from being distracted with something else and lost where I was.... mea culpa
Stole that line:)
now i know that's not an original work!
snap
truman capote, maybe?
Writers are all theives, we just learn to hide it.:)
Hemingway
ah
I figure he is in no shape to sure me for not referencing that at this time:)
to sue*
I've been writing a story for 14 years - it's up to about 1.6 million words probably. Sometimes I wonder how difficult it would be to learn to actually write well and make a significant rehaul of it before publishing.
indeed
There once was a Babbler named Crossy Who was afraid his mind was getting mossy. Being no fool He went back to school To make his stories more glossy
Though thanks to him, I did two marvelous papers so far:)
Well, that's not 14 years straight... I've had a few stretches of 1+ years without working on it. :)
you wrote a phone book:)
nicely down wht
Nah, it's fiction. Fantasy + sci-fi stuff.
yeah that's like a whole series grem!
chop it up and sell the rights to hbo!
Problem is, gremlinn, it will be so expensive to print and put out there that no one will touch it unless the fist 350 pages or so are a hit.
I can't because it's not actually in book format, it's interactive fiction packaged in a huge text-based game.
How many chunks can you make of it?
wow
so, like the old M.U.D games
It can't be divided, unfortunately....
Yeah, somewhat. Just wordier.
I recall those fondly, but the sad truth is sometimes you cannot go back.
It has had signficant feature creep. I originally thought it would be about 2% as large as it *already* is.
It is like listening to the old radio show. They were brilliant, they were funny, but somewhere along the way we lost our ear for it.
Is it anywhere near a solid alpha attempt?
Ah, well, there are still podcasts.
There's a demo that's free to play online, but it's not all that much of it. Still, many hours of play probably.
lol! love the limerick, wht!
So, it is out there. that is a good thing.
Yeah, it's good to get a little feedback at least.
get it fully out there and set up micropayments to entend content at sertain key points
Crossy, for you, it is a found poem.
certain
Hehe, that sounds good. I'll be happy just to be done eventually!
Now a proper poem and give me some of that stream of consciousness jazz;)
You could always will it to your kids...:)
I'll put a poem that's part of the game in my profile. :)
It's mainly there as an embedded set of clues for a puzzle, but I liked how it turned out.
lol! i SHALL BE IMMORTAL!!
For sure, crossy, because so far nothing seems to be able to kill you.
"i am going through some old arthur c. clarke and some azimov short as part of my imspiration for these assignments. lol, i had forgotten their incredible adeptness at using the famed "zinger" ending
.. my caps button is being a pain:(
History Lesson by Clarke is an awesome example of this type of ending.
as is The Star, also by him.
My favorite was the 9 Billion Names of God
Plan on using that as a ultra effective type of writing in my analysis.
that is a very good one as well
he did a lot of that; you think you knew where the story was going when all of a sudden it would veer of course and sail gleefully of some dramatic, climatic cliff.
Fireworks
yaaa for wht!!
Mostly yay for my monkeys. :^)
Do they have typewriters?
Millions of them
Ahh, not enough. I need infinity.
But I won't let them try to type the names of God. It is too dangerous.
We shall be saddened when we finally find god because, in the end--god is us.
May I have a clue for wa 5, 22 please?
adverb from a word meaning pale
thanks wht. Thot I had tried that. done now
wtg bugs
well,it is off to bed for me and perchance to dream of electric sheep:) gn all...poink!
And good night for me as well.
What is this enable and babble expert I keep hearing of, (is it just other names for lickety) any links please?
Hi lexi it combines the grid and the babble clues on one page and enables you to send the words straight to the clue list as you type them. Very useful. Try googling babble expert. I would add a link but last time I did I mucked up the chat log sizing and got in trouble!
ENABLE is an acronym for Enhanced North American Benchmark LExicon and is the basis (or close to it) for the list of words used here
hello everyone :-)
