Night, river.
Hi all :)
hi liz
happy daylights saving time to you
Hey Ru - Sorry to read that Dylan's not too well - wish him better.
thanks
sorry about you dog ruru - I always worry about my babies too! Good night folks!
Not for me, Ru. Queensland doesn't change its clocks.
Night, River
night river
Most queens out here in SF don't change their clocks either liz :D
Wonder when we change our clocks, hmm, think I need to check that..
lol, Ru
Hi Dee :)
you know the saying in SF.. takes a licking and keeps on ticking
That's a new one for me :)
*note to self.. when liz visits the US.. take her to the Folsom Street Fair*
Hi, Liz :)
I'll look forward to it!
more hands wound on Folsom than any watchmakers :D
Haven't been to SF since I was in my 20s.
I give great tours of SF
It'd be good to get back to the West coast of the USA one day - as long as I can avoid LA airport! Nightmare place!
g'day liz girl. how are you holding up?
Good thanks, Rose - you?
Normality resumed here - as far as it's ever normal here!!!!
coasting along, thanx. sorry you couldn't open the video of braxton.
Was disappointed - will see if hubby knows how to convert the file.
He says that he will be able to do that.
don says he can convert it to a mov file.
So, whichever hubby does it first!!!
I'll look forward to seeing it.
I hope Rose sent the right video..
That could be interesting.
don't let the nurse outfit fool you liz
I thought that was just for Don
Don stars as the helpless patient
Well, if that's the video, I'll forward it to you
ha
AHEM...WHEN you two have quite finished.
Smiles at Rose :)
rose wants first dibs!
Wide eyed and innocent
LOL... I bet the nurse's outfits are not the same :)
:)
which ipad are you using, liz?
Nurse Rose: where do I ever hang this IV bag
Well, all, I need to get going... hope you have a great night / day. We had a couple of snowflakes today (ICK!!! WAY too early for those!!
on whatever sticks out at you, ruru...lol

Sleep well, Dee - hope the weather warms up

poof poof night Dee
Thanks Rose :)
yw, liz. glad you enjoyed it.
Very much - sent e mail too :)
Clues are up
thanx lickety
fixed to run an hour later tomorrow too
yay you lickety
good morning all
{{hugs}} sprite. are you good today?
hi sweetie *hugs* Yeah I think so. I slept like crazy yesterday. All afternoon, then to bed early and all the night through till now. Guess I had some catching up to do after that darn flu. How are you today? How was the St. Francis service?
Goooooooood morning fellow Babblers xx
it was lovely, sprite. dogs everywhere. our vicar is an absolute power house.
hello worzel
morning Sprite xx
WORZEL!!!!! g'day mate
Good morning Mum xxxxxx ((((hugs)))) xxxx kisses xxxx
awesome :) I very much like it that animals are considered important too.
lolol, that tickles...go and shave
Ks killed
hee hee
yay sprite....
Well this is a twisty little grid, I must say!
don and i turned up 45 minutes early. the vicar was already there...hanging balloons, putting out bowls of water, bbq fired up, putting out chairs....she never stops
wow some lady, rose. I bet she was happy to have your help.
don was more of a help. he set up the music and microphone. all i did was a bible reading. oh, and kerry who runs the playgroup had a table set up for the little ones, with face-painting, colouring.
brilliant. That way the parents can focus on the sermon for once. I love the idea.
some of the people just walked in off the street. they were out walking their dogs, and seemed to think why not?
well exactly, why not?
it was amazing. so relaxed. people sitting around munching on sausages in bread, sipping on cans of drink. the weather was beautiful, so it was all out of doors.
Jesus would have loved it too. Much more His style than churches.
one of our ministers said, most people don't have a problem with faith, just the vessel it's served up in. i so agree.
oh I couldn't agree more. I always say I am deeply religious. Just not a church person.
that wasn't supposed to be a stopper
sorry sprite. i'm still here, hun
:) Did I say something too weird there?
no, dear. it's lovely to know that we agree on yet another thing.
*hugs* I'll get my ass in gear and start checking out B&B places here next week. Stupid flu messed up my plans.
im here too lol - im busy making curtains so I'm stitching as I watch the chat lol
*giggle* yay for you worzel
very important for a home, curtains
how's great aunty diane?
I'm thinking that my real mum will be looking down on me (or up, depending where she went!!) and having a good laugh at my terrible stitching. Mind you it's the first time I've done it in nearly 30 years and I think I'm doing rather a good job!
Great aunt Diane is absolutely beautiful and wonderful as always I'll let her know you asked after her mum xx
let the machine do the work, just guide... that is all there is to it
and thank you for asking! xx
I don't have a washing machine
or a sewing machine pmsl!!!!!!!!
tell her hi from me as well, please
washing machine - hahahahaha
I will sprite xx
roflol....
you're stitching by hand? Lol, that will be a lot of meters for curtains.
right I need to go make a fresh pot of coffee to wake me up for the rest of my stitching I'll see u all in a little bit *mini-poof*
you threw me with that one, worzel. i'm sitting here going huh??? i thought he was sewing...
am rather glad I can't remember the time I had to do curtains by hand, lol.
ditto....i was just thinking, instead of trying to hide the stitching, why not make it obvious and become a part of the decor.
lol indeed
aacckkk!! it's only 7:30pm, and i'm yawning my head off. our clocks went 1 hour forward overnight, so we had an hour less sleep. we are both feeling the effects.
lol of course, you guys are entering spring. I hate the spring forward thing. Getting up before you are done sleeping, eating before you are hungry and going to bed before you are sleepy. Crazy stuff.
we will put the clock back where it should be at the end of this month. Much better.
brb, spasms in rib muscles
aww sweetie :(
Small grid! Good morning all
*gulping down magnesium tablet* i'm back!
g'day matty
hi matty! Yes it is. Rather twisty though.
wb my dear rose :) I hope the spasms will settle soonest.
thanx hun. they're the worst
I can imagine. Impossible to stretch and cajole into relaxing.
lolol....just how do you massage between the ribs?
exactly. Breathing is the only way. And guess what is cut short when the rib muscles cramp up? Right.
right!
I found I word I wasn't expecting - who knew that there was an actual word for that type of person
ritman
sorry
hehehe good one, matty
lol, almost matty. try a different starting consonant
Yep, that's my person I got - now just trying every other possible occupation :)
it means the runt of the litter, actually. You remind me of that cartoon of a tennis game, with a kid whose shirt says "ball boy". And a guy saying to him: "I am more of a leg man myself"
I like it Sprite!
:)
*giggle*
fireflies
WTG SPRITE!!!
thank you :) Not too hard a grid, but tricky in places. Lots of good words.
Cograts!
I hear my love is awake (again). *hugs* to you both. And to all a blessed day and a peaceful night.
hope you have a good day sprite. xoxox {{hugs}}
Sigh - think I need Lickety now (got 50 words)
Still, I got one 7 on my own - that's quite good for me :) Perhaps I shall shower (living the dream, I am)
good morning everyone. Darn cat woke me up:(
poor crossy. * who says you can't train a cat?*
Hello again. So...ap7s - two of em, and I'm not finding them - any ideas?
2c this morning; Fall is definitely here:)
ap7, a + cooking pot + how old you are
ty rose:)
Thanks rose!
cyberspace eating my posts...
That was happening to me yesterday
ap7, a + caress a pet + b***, use your teeth
I have such a blind spot for vowel words (and, of course, half the enable dictionary blinds me anyway)
Thanks, Rose for both words.
Still looking for the second (I stroke or pet a cat, so desperately trying to think of what else I might do to it)
think of it in pt
took me a minute as well
matty change the vowel in the middle of the 3 letter word
dinner ready. will bbl. xoxox
Argh - it would have helped had I started from the correct A. thanks guys!
r
and back. np's liz. g'day lexi
Down to three words - an6, ap6 and pa7 - blindspot agogo
okay, an6, an + blind as a b** + ** and fro
Thank you! How do you find these?!
ap6, not breathing, ap + not yes + first 2 letters of not west
pa7, someone with pride in their country
OK, that word I've heard of - I feel very very thick
Aaand - fireworks. Thank you !!
That last one I should have got - it's right there in front of me
WTG MATTYGROVES!!!
congrats matty!!
So now what do I do with the rest of my day!
laundry??
g'day une
howdy rose :-)
Hah! Did three loads yesterday - I've no more room to hang it! It'll take a year to dry :)
Please--do not say laundry..it will hear you:(
well pop over here and do mine...lol
do you know that stuff breeds in the dark? it's insidious!
It must!! I did 5 loads yesterday and did not even make a dent in what remains!
oh, dear, crossy. how frustrating.
I did the math and there are 4 large gunny sack type bags remaining with 3 loads in each, so that's 12 loads and to do each sack at the laundro-mat from wash to dry is around 8 dollars. I miss having a washer and dryer on site:(
good grief, crossy. just do your own, not the whole neighbourhood
This happens when all the sheets and blankets come off the beds. it backs up horribly
When you do not have your own machines, you do not drive 5 miles for one load you let a few loads add up. It is a pain
Gladly, if you provide the plane ticket, Rose!
gm, everyone! clue for the ag6?
lbd, uses the a 3 times. ag + most of monkey + 2 vowels
start with the a under the f
have not a clue. Do not know this monkey
ty, (((Rose)))

oops crap
sorry

I better get a tea..brb
lol, crossy....and WTG LBDAWGER!!!!
Happy Sunday morning
g'day sukee
howdy sukee
I can see this is going to be an evil little grid:(
Does seem sneaky

{{crossy}}
Sorry what should be a lovely time isn't anymore
That as a tough visit but, actually, better than the last time. At least, it ended well

65 and over and out )|wilted *woof*)
And now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!! This has been on the net for a bit now and i may have mentioned it before, but it is so interesting and something that the rest of the planet should pay attention to that it bears repeating-- Sweden is so efficient with its recycling program that it imports garbage for its energy program because it has used up all of its own.
where an \I contribute? We produce more garbage than is possible for such a small household
lol. I feel that way about our dishes, ruby. We are a family of thre and I do 4 loads of dishes per day!!
I just rinse and lose the dishwasher unti there's enough
lod (wish I culd lose)
pa7, please?
"I" am the only dishwasher in this house. there is no machine here.

ty
bye
Congrats!
The cherry almond cookies I made yesterday go nicely with coffee! (sets up plate in the PB)
sounds yummy!
Dylan likes them better than the choc. chip ones
Why are you laid up, Car?
Sciatic back, hip, leg pain...getting worse instead of better. No matter what I do
Oh, sorry.
Uh oh. Sounds like surgery might be in your future.
Tried an exercise yesterday that was supposed to help...just hanging from a bar at the gym...no upper body strength so I couldn't hang on and landed hard on the ground, thus aggravating it even more.
Hi Judi
Judi! Sssssssh!
Not to mention pulling my upper back muscles now
Gyms are dangerous that way! Have you tried an inversion table? I love mine.
Oh, my.
Had a horrible night sleep because Zack wasn't feeling well and was in bed with us...he's now 11 and the size of a small adult.
I don't think I can use them because of my vertigo
Have you tried acupressure or massage?
I had leg twitches in my thigh so bad during the night my leg was bouncing off the bed
What is the cause of all the pain? Ruptured discs? Arthritis?
I am going to see my PCP this week...can't do anything until I do that. My dad, former doc and also sciatic pain sufferer, would like me to have an MRI to make sure there are no disc issues'
good idea.
Yep. Get that MRI. Probably more than one problem going on.
And, of course, I need to exercise to become stronger...which I cannot do at all right now. Vicious cycle.
Now I have noticed, when I drop something, which I seem to do a lot lately, if I bend to pick it up, i get awful reflux and get very nauseous.
I have that problem also.
So, I think there may be a variety of issues going on
Yeah. I hear you on that one. I'm the same way. Everything in the exercise realm causes aggravation.
Need exercise but it worsens pain, blah, blah, etc.
Yes! Blah, blah, blah. That is how I feel at this point. So tired of it.
Chiropractic might help ... or make it worse.
I did aquacise during the summer and that was great!
And it reaaly was good exercise.
and painless.
OK. Thanks for the support and the input. I'm going to at least try to get the dishes done. Hubby is helping with the laundry. maybe I can get him to take out my dresser drawers and I can thin out my unused clothing.
I wish you all a WONDERFUL day! Enjoy whatever you do! {{group}}
Have a good day and feel better.
Hego, why is my weemee so squashed?
Yours always look right
No idea.
But it's cute.
Ok...will go figure that out first
:)
All weemees should be squashed
Bad Ruru!
Like pancakes
Mean little man.
*note to self..start sending previous moments figureines to hego until she goes nuts
two will do it.
Plan on a room of them
Ack!!!
Lol
That was supposed to be precious not previous
the l is making me nuts
hello
hi Fan
hego i or L?
You aren't thinking small enough hego
I knew that Ru.
ty will look.
ki 4/11?
never mind
I thought so.
ko 4/8?
sorry had to go look at the guys on the NFL Network in their pink attire
*Sends Ruru links to where he can find overstock of Precious Moments figurines*
Has anyone seen cos lately?
yeah..I'd rather send hego the cheapo goofy ones
ruru do you have ko 4/8?
There are ones that are not goofy?
Molly what has happened to the chat?
oh please.. there are really goofy ones
yeah their pink attire and tolerating the abuse of women.. good going NFL
they have to wear pink for breast cancer its part of the job
my grandmother used to collect those goofy things molly.I'd always crack up when she cleaned them.. one of them was bound to be toast
I could see those guys supporting breast cancer as they are such boobs to begin with MLF
lol ruru
most men are boobs but you ruru:)
Hello, everyone! I used to collect certain types of things but have decided I don't want to dust them, so gave most away. Much better for avoiding the clutter. And...would have a hard type actively being involved in the breast cancer thing....I HATE PINK!!
Mimi i hate pink too!
crossy is back:) have a home-made chicken noodle soup in the slow cooker and just took some carrot muffins out of the oven. going to use some cream cheese frosting on them later:)))
I've become less attached to things with time.
yeah.. I got turned off to the breast cancer thing due to the rightist policies of the Susan Koeman foundation
((crossy)) You're making me hungry AGAIN!!!
((mimi))
Can anyone help with the AN words please?
I signed up for Amazon Smile so now every time I order from them, they make a 5% of my order donation to The Arizona Humane Society. Love that.
I just donate my spare funds directly to the Canadian Cancer Society. This I know because I have used their services before:))
mimi that is so cool
that way it gets where it is supposed to..*
Hey, people can support anything they want, but breast cancer is not the #1 killer of women or even #2...let's start support efforts to erase lung cancer and heart disease.
Good grief! I cannot put my thoughts in type properly today!
today?
:P to you ru:))
I'm with you today, crossy...better not actually speak to anyone today for fear of getting my tongue wrapped around my eye teeth so I can't see what I'm saying!
lol
Tons of work today and not really in the mood...sigh. Glad for the work but this whole working 7 days a week is kind of getting to me.
I used to work 7 days a week.. and now .. not any more
Bank it while you can mimi!
I'm trying do as much as I can to earn now while I'm capable of working. Don't ever want to be dependent on anyone in the future. Since I'll probably be alone from now on, it's all up to me.
snap
that makes total sense Mimi
I'm planning to work less but longer to keep busy.
Let's hope the book sells BIG time (if I ever get it done)!!
Stockpile that cash in good investments and simplify your life and you will be happier.
I wish I could get paid to pun in babble
Already putting that in place with my financial advisor regarding the settlement money I just got, crossy. Not touching much of it now...letting it make money for me for later plus having an emergency reserve for now.
But, ruru...you'd go broke! :P
emergency reserve is smart Mimi
:D
I've already made many financial mistakes through the years, but now I have to get very smart and very serious as I've run out of time to make mistakes and regroup from them.
yes.. but don't ever completely trust your financial advisor.. study up and see if their decisions make sense to you
I no longer "keep up with the Joneses" and find that my simple pleasures keep me happiest. Books, music, jig-saws, walking the Bruce Trail we have here. Heck the computer I am on is one I rebuilt and its core is 8 years old:)
((ruru)) ...sorry, I couldn't resist....hug.
I use the wealth management adviser at my bank.
and they ran it all through Mackenzie investment firm for me
Absolutely, ruru. The one I have works for my bank and has a very strong background. He has also advised me NOT to use them for certain things saying I can do them less expensively elsewhere.
no problem mimi.. if you dish it out.. ya gotta be able to take it.. that's my motto
Always go with the big boys
Well, you just dish all you want to, ruru....we love it!
not everyone
I bank with Chase...doesn't get much bigger than that!
Yes, another busy firm
I use Charles Schwab
Well, ruru....they can take a flying leap off the Babble cliff, then! (Do we have a Babble cliff?)
we do.. mimi..it's at the end of the "Sensitive Room"
My guy used to work for Schwab. The bank manager here really fought to get him to change from one Chase branch to another because he's that good.
ROFL!!!!!
Thanks, ruru...I needed a good laugh this morning!
I like my guy at C Schwab.. he's really smart
lol, that is funny.. at the end of the sensitive room.. love it:)
He looked at me x eyed when I bought my car though
Oh my God. Prepare the stockade. He mentioned "the room". : P

Well, they are there to keep you from going crazy with those millions
I told him.. wait until you are 55..then tell me about spending money on a car

Better to spend money on something you really want now, than to be sitting around the nursing home later, wishing you did.

Reading over the chat, we had a '63 VW and then a '64. The '64 was great. I've had almost all German cars, but the best of all was an Audi A8, luxurious and beautiful but, unfortunately totaled.

Hello, Molly :-)
Made some outstanding pumpkin lattes this afternoon. Nice hot drink on a Fall day.
With the sizes of pumpkins you must of had a fair bit left over.Should freeze okay though for another day.
I use canned pumpkin. Then I use the rest for pumpkin pancakes.
Ah I see.
Hello again
It's "only" 83 here. A far cry from pumpkin latte!
Hello, Hego :-)
I baked a fresh pumpkin once to use for baking. It's a lot of work.
At first I thought she said pumkin latkes....
Canned pumkin is wonderful.
hello hego...
Hiya Pen
For things like bread or soup, I don't mind the extra work to make my own. When it comes to pumpkin, I'm happy to let someone else do the work.
odd words today.
Love the smell of freshly baked bread!
I draw the line at pumkin.
baking bread is awesome!
And somehow sensual.
It's in the can for a reason...embrace it, I say!

I make pumpkin bread for Thanksgiving. It's kind of a religion in my clan to have that for breakfast on Thanksgiving morning.

i got the 7 32. wow.
still need the ap 40.........
Pen, it's tricky to cook in a slow cooker for one. You almost have to find recipes that you can freeze in portions.
great clue pen.
ty got both now.
need two other 7s.
yes, i have done that.....i have made a pulled chicken recipe and chickpea chili....
pa 7...name of my favorite football team...
I don't cook chicken in a slow cooker, I find it gets too mushy for my taste. I do like it for tougher meats though.
ty got pa 7. ty.
well the pulled chicken recipe that i made was quite good...very few ingredients...
Thanks, Pen. My knowledge of 17C French is limited!

beef stew is good, too, but i haven't made that....don't like recipes where i have to sear meat before using the cooker...
did amyone see the clow co4er sauerbraten recoipe in usa today's weekend magazine?
I couldn't think of a thing.
no, TO...
ty hego...
I just read an article with slow cooker breakfast recipes. They all sounded like they would be mush when they were done.
i should try to do hearty soups....
Later!!
Fatted calf # 2 was cooked today. Roast chicken, stuffing, ratatouille, roast potatoes, gravy & broccoli, cos Son of Soodle loves broccoli!
Some things, like oatmeal and eggs, just don't need to cook for 12 hours.
love sauerbraten but never thought of making it at home . also just watched sara moulton roast a chicken with under the skin stuffing of zucchini garlic parmesan a nd onions. hold moisture in
sounds good, soodle....
don't most co4ers have timers?
I roast chicken with herb butter under the skin. It's very good.
i agree, molly....
i just want easy to make main courses or soups....
want to try some rice pudding in the crockpot
I made an "unstuffed cabbage" recipe from FB in the crockpot, and it was awesome! Seasoned ground beef, cabbage, fire roasted tomatoes...hubby loved it!
No complaints here, Pen, so i count that as a result!
If anyone is interested in my Jamaican pulled pork slow cooker recipe you can email me and I will be happy to share. it is a favorite in this household:)
ooouuu...champ, it sounds really good!
I have had that unstuffed cabbage Champ, it's very good.
ty, crossy, i may do that....anyone have the unstuffed cabbage recipe?
My MIL used to make the "real" version, so it was a nice surprise for my hubby. So easy this way.
Soodle, your dinner sounds divine. Son of Soodle is always well fed when he comes home.
I can send it to you Pen.
i am going to a Russian dinner this month....i am hoping that they serve cabbage....
champ perhaps you would put that into your profile some time? i am needing to begin co4ing a gain and i am a bit rusty

Will do it now...
Please do, Champ.

I suggest using the chicken stock instead of the water in that recipe. The flavor is much better.
There is a hashtag in front of Irish Mammies? Oh dear.
ty champ and ty TO...
i love those sticky notes on this new computer!...
thr lsck of proportions in the recipe for a dish i have never made is a deal breaker.
What proportions do you need? The can sizes?
yes and the size of the head of cabbage
I usually assume that unless a recipe says "large head of cabbage" that it calls for a medium/normal sized head.
For a pound of ground beef, a 15oz can of tomatoes would be sufficient. As for the tomato sauce, that is a matter of how thick you want your dish. A small one for thick, a larger one for runnier.
i would think that a bit more or less would not make much of a difference in a slow cooker recipe...
And yes Pen, slow cooker recipes are kind of open to interpretation.
and i was referring to the amount of cabbage...
ty. i will see if everyone can eat cabbage and if so i will try it.
so you serve it with or over rice?
penquis. I sent you an e mail
ty crossy!
hello everyone -- still 42 left from last night
are we talking recipes today?
forgot to tell you penquis that that will serve 4 with two servings for each
we are indeed, cybernan
ty, crossy...
molly, is the cabbage dish served over rice?
Yes TO, served over rice.
ty. rice is big in ths house.
ty for asking that, TO...:o)
grr, yahoo mail is not working properly .
tried a new one from a friend for puff pastry: 4 cups flour, 1 pound butter or marge, 1 cup club soda. Makes enough for 120 hors d'ouvres. Can be frozen. Made the full batch last night -- froze half and made the other 2/4 into brie & fig jelly filled hors d'ouvres and sausage rolls. Bake at 400F for 10 min (hors d'ouvres) - a little longer for full size sausage rolls. I par-cooked the sausage first.
The original stuffed cabbage is a meat/rice mixture stuffed into a rolled cabbage leaf.
sounds yummy....but i don't do anything involving flour....too much work for me...
Frozen puff pastry is my friend.
ty cybernan I needed a good pastry:) Crossy love sausage rolls:))
too chicken to try puff pastry.
This one is easy, TO -- just mix and knead with hands until texture is consistent, then roll out 1/4 of the full batch at a time
*When thawing, let dough come to room temp before rolling it out
that club sode must add lightness
noted, cybernan. I think sausage rolls will soon be on the menu:)
I think so
It does TO. I have a biscuit recipe that calls for club soda and they are very light.
i keep seeing "aperitif"
Hints for the ap6/21? I'm stuck...
and i am off to make dinner. it is cold in here, the oven will take the chill off, trying to avoid heat
I have oven roasted potatoes in and the whole house smells like garlic and herbs...mmm...
nan, if you would be so kind as to put recipe for pastry and fig roll into profile some time?
ooh yum cool weather cooking is so easy
Nan posted the recipe in chat.
lexi....my last word... alternate spelling of sleeping problem...uses extra vowel....
yes, f or the pastry. until i get a new pc i am limited to where i can store data.
can you cut and paste into a text document?
maybe
All new recipes go on a notepad file until I have tried them. If they are good, I add them to my recipe file.
thanks pen!

i put mine on sticky notes....i will later place them in my recipe file on my computer...
Would have never monkeyed that in a million years :)

I do laundry every day. I'm not the kind of person who can tolerate doing five or six loads in one day.

By the way, congratulations to all the finishers!Way to go
hi min...ok here...
Hello penquis! How are you? I di my laundry yesterday. It was a very rainy day so stayed inside and got things done
Look, there's Min. What's going on in your life, Min?
T's Tumbled! 3 left
Hello MollyL! How are you? Have not been here all week.
One day last week there was a small puzzle. I babbled incognito in middle of night when I had insomnia. Then I forgot to enter the last word later that night! Was so mad at myself!I remembered when I woke up next day
Min, you have to get out of that habit of not entering your last word.
It was the first time ever where I forgot to enter last one
I guess it did not affect my ranking too much. I am at 914 which is good for me since I never complete grids&I don't babble very much during the week anymore.I'm too busy.
The middle of the night is a good time to play Babble incognito : D
Yes, it was like 3:30 a.m. I did not even look at the chog,
Better that way, trust me.
I better not forget to enter my last 2 words tonight Molly

glad I didn't stay up to watch, today at work would have been way more crazy than it was!
the Nats game came out just perfect though
Spoken like a true Left Coaster
:D
man.. it was a real pitching duel> there's no question the Nats are the best team in baseball right now.. all that talent
And your Niners won today so you must be a happy sports fan.
I do hope that Baumgarner mows them down Monday
ruru why you gotta go and rub it in
I'm ecstatic
it's true.. Dan.. they have really great players. They lost the game pulling out Zimmerman too early
I'm glad Denver won today because tomorrow night is going to be a blood bath
you mead the "rouge skins?"
mean
And just so it doesn't go without saying, it is always a bad idea to pull out too early
LOL
I am hoping for a surprising upset tomorrow night!
<----choking
have hope phan.. but it ain't gonna happen
did you breathe and swallow at the same time, Ru?
just laughing hard
*Gets ready for a drive up to Frederick to see the singing birds and hear the Carpenter's music playing at Phan's house
Look I realize the chances are very slim, but surpising things happen all the time!
you will enjoy some wine with me too, Molly?
*buys ruby slippers for Phan*
I love ruby slippers!
*and a little yorkie*
Naw, German Shepherds for me!
<---Not a wino
What's your poison, Molly?
we probably have it...
*passes out*
gurgle.... no wine?...accccck
from, Ru?
I was kind of hoping Alex Smith would do better.. in the oddest way I really admire him as a player.
*imagines Molly with a brown bag.. sitting on the sidewalk*
Yes, that's me. The slumming it girl.
no worse than walking down the road with a brown bag...
yeah.. especially over ones head
well, I guess that's all for me.
you finish phan? congrats
Good Evening. It looks like I've missed a good chat a bit ago….
Hi Nef. I just got here and it is good to see a friendly face
Hi Bugs; How are you doing tonight?
hi nef....long time no see...hi bugs...
I am doing well thanks. Another lovely fall day
hi penquis
Hi penquis, how are you tonight?
ok, thanks....you?
How are you and yours Nef? I do hope all is calm today.
well, pen, between DH "ruining" another vacation (2 hospitalizations in the past 6 weeks) and a road trip (without DH) to see my siblings; it's been kind of crazy here;
oh wow....how is DH now?
I've been here a couple of times but didn't chat or even start to do the grids just because too much thinking involved.
i hear ya...
He's better again. When a person is immune-suppressed; simple things can have bad effects.
My stats were working their way up for a while until I had a couple of days like that and forgot to finish the grid because it took too much thinking
I am sorry about DH's hospitalizations.
i don't pay attention to mine....used to finish via lickety and i am sure that ruined my stats...
Luckily, the urine infection was caught early enough that he did pop back quickly; but the gall bladder issue was such a puzzle (he had atypical chest pain)
I have decided to become less anal about it too penquis. My days are more full now.
same here....
gosh, I don't even pay attention to stats anymore.
I should look; I bet I'm not on any of the charts now….
Nobody told me this was a thinking game. No wonder I'm in the basement!
Hi stidgmere! Long time no chat!
lol...
Was away for a little visiting my relatives in California. Great change and sooo happy to be back in the great Northwest.
Hi stidgmere! How are you doing?
well i am off.....want to watch Resurrection without distractions....bye all!
Doing just fine Nef. Gearing up for doing indoor projects for the fall and winter that I've put off. Also trying to put some order in our house. It looks more and more like a house with way too many catalogues and magazines.
good evening everyone:)
It's always nice to go; but even better to come home; right?
I hope it was a good trip. I have an American cousin in California but I have never been to see her yet.
bye pen! HAGD!
hi and bye crossy...
hi crossy!
ty....*waving*...
Right! I'm going to play some games with Murphy. He likes to play at sit, down, crawl, and so on. Bye to all.
Bye pen and hi crossy
howdy nef and tc penquis
howdy bugsaw
niters, stidg!
bye stidge. Say Hi to Mr Stidge for me please
tc stidmere
funny, I never noticed the g in her name all these years lol
she is the grandmere of the stid family
tc stidGmere
crossy, I had to check out your icon close up! I thought you had a picture of a caterpiller with something on it's back!
life is funny..
no, that is a First Nation drawing of a spirit wolf and my favorite icon
So I noticed once I enlarged it
:)
you never saw the G before crossy? Wow; as long as you 2 have been here (but maybe you don't "see"each other because you're on at different times
I tired a number of different wolf icons during my babble tenure and this one won out over all the others
tried
the Nuu-cha-nulth people consider the wolf a guardian. He is doing well for you crossy
He has been my guardian for just over 22 years now.
actually 23 years
had to look that one up. west coast they are:)
I don't know much of anything about the Canadian First Nations…. :-(
They are on the west coast of Vancouver Island. My daughter-in-law and grandkids and Nuu-chah-nulth. They were great whalers
But I do feel that Canada gives more respect to them than the US gives to our Native Americans
Not as much as they deserve though Nef. Racism is still pretty strong here.
It is very sad.
I understand; it's pretty bad here too.
My godmother is First nations and it is an honor. My own mother passed in 1991\ We can never say to them enough times how sorry we are. it will take many lifetimes to make up for past wrongs
From which people is your godmother, crossy?
That i do not know. Bugsaw. it has been a dacade since I last saw her, but her family has been in the Nippising area of ontario near algonquin park for many genarations. i imagine her people would of been tof those from that location
decade
I agree that it will take many lifetimes, crossy. But I don't know if we can make up for past mistakes; but until we start respecting them now I don't think we'll ever make up for the past
As a child i remember her making me pike cakes for lujch. She would spend hours picking the tiny bones out of the snow white meat and make battered cakes out of it for us.
lunch
Wow. Pike cakes? those are really bony fish!
They are, the bones are many and so small. I have never had the patience for it
I have only ever done catch/release when i get a pike
But, she had the skill to make the substandard or plain into a wonder.
She is from proud people then. Probably Anishnabe. They used to be Objibwa but apparently they called themselves Anishabe. The story is the explorers asked their neighbours who lived over there and they called them the Ojibwa so that is how they were know for generations. Now they are reclaiming their name along with their pride. I love that story.
Yeah, my uncle would always throw them back and only bring home walleyes.
mm, pickerel
(sorry, on phone)
the Ojibwa were also in Minnesota
In the last 20 years a lot of work has gone into restocking lake Nippising with pickerel:) One year alone 50,000 fingerlings were placed in the lake and there was one point where fishing was banned for 4 years to allows things to come back somewhat to the way it used to be. it was a great achievement. that lake was fished very heavily from the early 60's into the 90's
We knew them better as Chippewa here
They are a different people altogether Nef
do people really eat the pickerel/ pike?
oh yes! both are very tasty
but pickerel moreso than piuke due to the cleaning issues/bones
pike
Bugsaw, the Chippewa aren't the Ojibwa? I'm confused I think...
that particular lake also gets bass and brown trout on occasion
there is a lake near Bangcroft where you can fish for mukelunge:)
Thing are basically freshwater sharks of the north:) They scare the crap out of me when i hook one and I am in a little aluminum boat at the time
muskelunge*
Crossy, aren't pike and muskies both considered part of the pickerels?
They are related, right?
i think there is a relation there, but unlike pike, muskies can remove your fingers faster than a saw and can often weigh tween 40 and 75 pounds
I stand correctly Nef. thanks. I just learned the chippewa is another Anglicized version of Anishnabe that is mostly used in the USA.
I was thinking of the Chippewayan people. My mistake and I learned a new fact.
In lakes that are known to have muskies we do not trail our fingers in the water while canoeing !
I just was looking that up myself, Bugs. I've always known that Minnesota had Sioux and Chippewa tribes, I was starting to wonder if I had the wrong tribe there.
I get easily confused with the different tribes so will leave you two to organize it:)
There are lots of Sioux people too. Lakota, Dakota etc
Very true about the muskies, crossy. I do know that we never used the right kind of bait to catch muskies when I was young; they required much stronger line and bigger bait if we really wanted to catch them
I used to use 30 pound Trilene test with a 3 foot steel leader and a #4 Mepps. heavy duty gear all the way
LOL, I'm just easily confused about LOTS of things; so what am I doing trying to figure out First Nations and fish at the same time?
lol
lol Shutting up now so I can finish too Nef.
We didn't have heavy fish line, crossy; (I think we couldn't afford to lose any! We would fish with bamboo poles as kids; I only remember my uncle having 1 fishing rod and reel)
lol, sorry i pulled you both out of the grid, but yakking with me can have that effect. You never know where the converstaion will head.
it is part of the crossy charm!
LOL,crossy!
no arguement about charm
awww..shucks... Well I have classes tomorrow so i will bid you both a good night and happy babbling!
Niters, crossy
could I please have the stats for the lower F? It's invisible to me
fa4/7
Thanks tor. I'm slow tonight
yqw ..
How are you tonight, for?
I am well. Just got back from Canada yesterday. Work tomorrow. Life goes on.
I hear you. My sister & I took a 1 week road trip out to Montana to see our siblings; my older sister had rented a cabin right outside the west gate of Glacier National Park and the 6 of us really had a nice visit. It was hard to come back; but we really pushed hard & --- I needed 5 days to recover! :-)
(I SO needed a break from everything; I was getting burnt out!)
I still need a break. My trip was for work.
How long was your trip? (I do understand; a work trip is tougher than a personal trip)
13 days, but I did get a little down time.
YOWSER! That was a LONG business trip!
A did get the weekend off in the middle, and it was a nice place, so it was not terrible.
Which area were you in, for?
TOR. (sorry, spellcheck doesn't like me )
Sidney BC, near Victoria
sounds lovely. I've never been there (or to BC at all yet; but hope to get there some day
Hello all! I came back to enter my last 2.I may need help
P's Permitted! 1 left
Go Min!
I am finished! I have fireworks! ag6/27 was my final word
I will be here for 20 more minutes if anyone needs clues.
Yay Min!! That stupid word was my last too ..
Congratulations torgone on finishing early! Good for you!
YAY, Min!!!! WTG!!!
Yay torgon!!! WTG!!!!
Thank you Nef! How are you doing?Did you finish this one
No Min; I haven't finished. I have 38 words left (but I did get that ag 6!) And I'm still hanging in there.
Hi Min and Nef.
hi neil. I haven't seen you in a long time!
(probably because I don't hang out here as much anymore)
Yep. Been kept very busy. And away a lot, too.
Well me either... for a looong while.
Have a little more time now, before I start my course up in San Francisco at Dev Boot Camp.
Hope you're well?
I am well; have been too busy for too long. But things should get better in a month or so
what is Dev Boot Camp?
A school where I'll be studying an intensive 3-month crash course, to become a web developer and create cool things. And get a much higher-paying job with my certification, when it's over.
I've already been learning to code in Ruby on my own, with the help of books and online tutorials, over the past few months.
I've been experimenting with a boggle game.
OH! A Developers' Boot Camp! (My mind was going Dev+ deviant; devils,
etc.
make sure you go to the right "boot camp" in SF neil
Haha! Yes. No devils... that I know of. :P
:D
There, anyway.
Hey ru! :)
And very funny. :P
just won at weboggle
:D
Good for you, ruru
Yay, ru!
But what else is new?
I was there earlier, but didn't see you.
Jeez. All this rhyming. :P
you've been practicing, neil
Practicing what, Nef?
Hello Neil! Long time no see! Welcome to Babbleland with Nef and me. Good to see you, but I have to go. Must get up early to make the dough.
rhyming (from the looks of it)
LOL WTG, Min! (Sleep well)
Haha, Min! :D
And no, Nef. But guess it's in the genes... my Dad is a poet. And short story writer.
:-) I was teasing; but - maybe it is in the genes then
Could be?!
My DH's parents were divorced and he didn't see his Dad from the age of 2 or 3 until he was 38. When we met his father; they rubbed their eyes in the exact same strange way (so who knows what's genetic and what isn't?
Oh wow. That's sad... they wouldn't even have known each other. Yep, who knows? It's interesting.
His dad died about 6 years later; they did get to know each other fairly well. But the very odd way they rubbed their eyes (kind of rubbing both eyes back & forth several times and then round and round then back & forth -- with both index fingers only!
Aww. That's even sadder... they only knekw each other for less than 10 years in total, and his dad missed him growing up. And he had to grow up without a dad. :( But yeah... that eye-rubbing thing sounds kinda odd?
"knew", even.
oh, Man! I was going to stay up for the flip; but I'm tired and suddenly feeling it. When I rub my eyes, if I use both hands I rub in and out mirror -image like. Not them they'd rub both eyes to the left, then the right, then left & right &left and right and then around clock wise at the same time. I'm very observant of things & it was really weird seeing them
SOrry I'm such a bore tonight, but I'm too tired and am afraid of falling asleep & falling out of my chair.
Good Night All. Happy Babbling
