g'day ruby
hello rosiex
how is your day shaping up, ruby?
so far, so good
good morning :D
no falls or fightsm just a snide mail from my son
[[SPRITE}}
{{hugs}} dear sprite. how was your night, hun?
*hugs rose* it was ok, darling, nothing too horrendous. How was your day?
*hugs ruby*
i slept 10 hours last night. i was exhausted. and today i have been unable to concentrate on much at all.
John is in Amsterdam, but I wouldn't wish him on anybody lol
lol silly ruby! I would set him straight, grin.
I think he's ni** to everybody but me
I told him that I had fallen the other day so he responded with "You know that you guys are in a precarious position...." No sh**!
I couldn't stand it, so I responded "If you have any good suggestions, I'm all ears" unsigned
dinner about to be served. darn it!
aw how unkind. Sorry to hear you had a fall. How are you?
Just dinged up but Rufie cushioned my fall and licked off the blood
yay for ruffie, hugs for ruby and her dignity.
dignity? hahah
*giggle*
awwwww sweet rufie. *hugs ruby*
I'll be back for the big words (yeah, right lol)
{{HUGS, LADIES}}
bye ruby :) Have a good day.
bbl...about 10 minutes.
ok rose
and back. yummy lasagne.
Hello sprite and rose :)
well g'day biltong. how are you today?
Ooh, I love lasagne rose
wb rose, and that was a quickie!
with lots of fresh parmesan ?
hi Biltong :)
not too bad, thanks rose. Didn't sleep very well
how come, Biltong? Worries? Pain?
aww, poor biltong. *gentle hug* why not?
I've never really shared before, but I too suffer from depression, anxiety, etc :(
am so sorry, Biltong. That sucks so hard. *hug*
ahh, no probs with you sharing with me. and you will find a willing ear here.
we'd like to be a listening ear and a bit of support for you, Biltong, if you let us. It is a tough battle, we know that.
Thank you rose and sprite. I can often relate to both your "problems" too.
shared misery is halved misery, as a dutch saying goes. It is good to know we are not alone in our struggles, isn't it?
good, then biltong. then you know sprite and i do not judge, but support, and advise if asked.and we aren't afraid to say anything...lol...
It is indeed comforting, sprite and yes, rose, by now I know you aren't afraid of saying anything, lol
*grin* Too true.
i do try to be tactful.....lol....but sometimes a thing just has to be said.
do you get treatment for your condition, Biltong? Some professional help, and maybe medication?
well yeah, I try not to judge. Until they start messing with my friends. Then all bets are off.
lol, rose. Yes sprite, I take anti depressants although I have gained a lot of weight from them which is obviously not a good thing
*giggle* and don't i know it...
ugh no, the side effects of meds can be so bad. Am sorry you have to go through that. Sometimes other meds may work better or with less side effects... any chance of discussing that with your doctor?
oh, sprite. what the clinic say/do yesterday?
rose, new word for the dictionary? dunette - girl with big breasts
Yes, I am currently being weaned off Venlafaxine and also Mirtazapine and am on the waiting list to see a Phsyciatrist for alternative medication
About 7 weeks ago I had an enlarged thyroid gland removed, which, I must say, has made me feel a lot better
oh wow Biltong, that is a tough period now for you then... hang in there! *hugs*
*giggle* sprite. in it goes, hun
and yay for feeling better and getting rid of that gland.
Thank you sprite, and thank you rose :)
poor biltong, such a lot to take on board when you aren't well.
added it, rose :) Biltong, if you want a laugh, there is a babble dictionary in my profile. With words that should be added to the english language.
Biltong I too am on velafaxine.I hate it.It makes my head or thuddy and hard to concentrate. Also on beta blockers for panic attacks too.I know how you feel. The last time i was anti-depresants I stopped completely with out reducing the dosage.Big mistake..lol
*hugs zooz* Hello dear friend! How have you been lately?
And hello ladies :-)
lol, sprite. Very clever :)
Not too bad thanks, Sprite and yourself?
g'day zooz. {{hugs}} mate
Hello, Rose :-)
good to hear, zooz! I am fine. Doing well, sometimes overdoing things and finding that I bounce back quicker than I used to. Pretty uplifting find :)
one of my guilty pleasures, Biltong. I love our dictionary. It grows and grows. If you ever have an addition, please let me know.
Sounds good to me, Sprite :-)
Hello zooz. Yes, the side effects of Venlafaxine are awful. YOu need to come off them gradually In my opinion they aren't very effective either
No Not keen on tablets.I just wanted a professional to talk to but alas I am struggling so needed additional help..lol
I suppose it is safe to say then that we are all insomniacs too?
Love it, sprite :) It is really good for a laugh I enjoy play on words so much
I struggle with sleeping, mostly because of very bad dreams. But I do sleep, so am not really an insomniac.
Well they are playing havoc with my sleeping patterns.I was wide awake at 04:30am :-(
sprite I see you do not have my word "Citiot" in your dictionary:(
Hello crossy
crossy, *hugs* and please tell me, what is a citiot?
howdy biltong
I have the same problem with dreams sprite, and am therefore afraid to go to sleep. I'm afraid I rely on sleeping tablets.
it is a tourist here in tourist country, but not just any tourist. One that is often, dangerous, disrupitve of the environment and those around him./her and does not care
Ooh, Sprite there was a made up word in the grid the other day someone mentioned it.And I thought I must tell you it. A babbler mentioned there should be a word for friends and family you love should be called framily Which I thought was rather good.
Hello, Crossy :-)
lol, crossy
howdy zooz
oh I like that one too, crossy. Will add them both.
haha I like the citiot one!
as in "look how that driver cut everyone off and almost caused a accident, must be a citiot to drive that way"
I can think of a few more words to call them too.But best not mention them here..lol
lol zooz!
We have been using that one up here for so long that I should submit it to Websters"
ok crossy, added. I love how our dictionary grows.
IN 8 please?
and scrabble. Must ask scrabble about it.
in8, to begin or introduce, zooz
zooz, to begin something, as in a conversation

There's a very naughty word in the grid - which is allowed!
yw :)
Got it! wow that was a of a twisty one.Thank you.
ty, rose
yeah, a very rude one. Always kind of makes me cringe when I enter it.
and hi matty :)
Yes naughty words are allowed, Matty :-)
g'day matty. how are uou, sweetie?
ugh * you *
phantom: dilettant
Hello matty
*cringing with sprite* it has to be my unfavourite word in all the dictionary.
I'm ok - clean (up and showered) - I am hoping for a more exciting Saturday than my three loads of laundry last week :) How is everyone there? And is the 10 a word I'll have heard of?
close sprite
Ooh sprite nearly gave the DI10 away..lol
ouch. So sorry.
the online dictionary attaches a usage alert to it. That is handy for those learning english as a second language
matty, add a vowel to sprite's word
am very very sorry about that. *shamefacedly stumbles off to sin bin*
s'okay dearest. i loves ya.
No, come back sprite, we forgive you :)
thanks, both of you :)
Thank you! Tis a silly word.
dilettante, I keep trying it:(
I give words away all the time, Sprite.

Same here, crossy
Crossy change the last letter.

Anticow. It should be there. Someone who is against bovines
ty zooz, I have never seem it with an I at the end:(
for some reason I love the ow5. Always makes me smile when it is in a grid. Guess it is because they are so very cute.

hi sukee I found a new 5s lol
But I did find one 7
g'day sukee. yes, i also found all the 4's first.
And I found a REAL 4 letter word :)
I only found small ones at the start too, and I slowed down long before halfway. Some of the biggies are odd. Others are just very twisty.
roflol sukee. Yes, rude one.
I found two movies so far, lol
Thanks to you guys I've found the 10 and the 8 - no nine yet (but I haven't looked at Lickety yet - I only have 25 words)
good job with the biggies. The 9 is a bit odd, to me anyway.
Cowlet - a small cow.

it is called the great ocean Road
ahhh, that is our favourite ride on the motorbike. we have done it many times.
Right. I'm going to put socks on, brush my hair and look for boots. I may even have my eyebrows threaded. Isn't this just rivetting?!

one who wants to join a special group may have to become an in8, before becoming a member, usually related to a fraternal order or the likes.

Back for a few minutes. Hi lbd and Alleyn :)
Husband did it with your clue. Thx
Is the 9 related?

Good clue LBD. I can see why people are having a hard time with the word. It's not used much anymore.

"and bring some right here!"

pulling a peri, found it
li6 sounds like a baby cat
And once again, I was fooled by the Peri move
lol, lbd. Clue please?
A beautiful, classic "peri" done in the traditional style. Note the start and the finish all within the same minute, the clean request and the rapid dismount with the answer already in hand. The judges give it a solid 9.5 :)
oh, thanks for the clue Molly
rhymes with baby cat, biltong

use scissors plus not out cu 5 14
Anyone have a clue for the cu5, please?

Couldn't get away from the horrid cu word :(
Biltong,Matches: the di might look more familiar in its usual singular form with a different ending vowel
I can't get the in 8. Any clues please?

Yeah.. i thought you had to be at 501 feet
half the class is full of them. they squeaked a diploma but need to upgrade to meet prerequisites for college or university.
Ru, I may be the only one who knows about the 500 ft thing : D
For nursing, social service positions and first responders the cut off is 90%%! Classes are overbooked and they cherry-pick the top people only
I guess my jokes are for myself mostly

Lol..i am always amused
I know about 5150's too : D

Going back in chat....I still love Gordon Lightfoot...proud of it...no apologies!
((mimi))
((crossy)) Just sent you an em.
Nothing wrong with liking Mr. Lightfoot
ok, mimi, will take a look-see
He's creepy..did he get arrested for spousal abuse?
Don't remember anything about that, ruru...hope not. Love the music. My musical tastes tend to be as varied as the word jumble always going on in my head.
email back at you mimi:)
I could confusing him with glenn campbell..but i tought he got arrested in okla
back at 'ya, crossy.
Yes, Campbell was arrested for that. I don't even want to know if Lightfoot had this issue because I want to continue liking the music. I've discovered at this point in life that sometimes it's better to know less about some things....I'm trying to create my own reality, as we all do. I just want mine to be a lot prettier than it used to be!
I still "fight the good fight" but pick my battles much more carefully.
Hello all! tiny grid for a rainy day
I think lightfoot was a drug thing..campbell was abuse
hi all
((car))
Hi, jmc!
Hi jm...sorry about your nats
{{mimi}}
*sniff*
i even sat to the very end of the longest game in post season history. . . and it was COLD!
What nats? What happened? What did I miss?!??!
oh well there is always next year!
Ruru, Campbell is a multi-faceted offender...abuse, drugs and alcohol...a sort of Renaissance offender.
Ohhhhhhh....all caught up now. TY
You were there 4 that?
they were beat out by the giants car. . . even though the bookies had them peg as winning the world series
yep for the whole game. . . thought I would get home at a reasonable hour but got home at about 1:30 in the morning after leaving for the game from my house at 1:30. . . . just realized it was a 12 hour event for me!
They are a great team
if they could only get through the post season! haha
Gotta get to work. I have at least 12 hours of work both today and tomorrow. Tiring but great money. Have a good Saturday and hugs all around.

Hi Crossy!

Ruru, I would much rather Canada take some our politicians...
are teh te7's common?
yeah they could start with taking Ted Cruz back
Spot on!
As in a BIG bu-bye!
who is ted cruz?
Not sure I can define him without expletives
a Canadian citizen who emigrated to America and is a representative and right wing big shot in Texas for the republican party.. he's a nut job
Ruru gets a halo for that one!
i just looked him up
I think he's affiliated with the tea baggers somewhat too
does anyone have both te7's?
why does Canada continue to send us their whackos
hey guys wahts's going on !
apparently they dont want them lol
te + of one idea - scrambled.

I have always thought the relationship between Celine and Grandpa was highly dysfunctional
he was battling cancer or still is?
I guess I'll have to go to Canada to find my teenager huh?
:D
ruru no keep relatives of Beiber's or his fans there please
I don't think they were the first or only May-December marriage in the entertainment world, Molly
My husband says they should have kept howie mandel
catherin zeta jones and her husband have quite an age difference i think?
*takes ruru's halo away*

In my case .. it was the pain killer drops ... after three days of agony none of the doctors or nurses could figure out what could possibly be wrong ... ... the old pro came in on day four and noticed that nobody had turned the switch on ... ... it could be just some tiny step that he is missing and the tiny thing is causing a whole mess of grief
we are ok, Jill, it's been almost 2 weeks since Frank's last chemo so he's feeling as well as he gets
OK, here goes matty... te+ most of what an investment account is called

There's a 99% chance that if you see the word "ulterior" in a sentence it will be followed by "motive"(s).

help with di 10 please
Someone clued it earlier as a person without a real interest in things...change the last letter to make it have an Italian ending.
thanks
And it was also clued as an art lover with a different last vowel. Weird, no interest...love for art...same word.
I only found it after seeing the changed-letter word there as a phantom and figuring I'd try different vowel endings just in case (as I hadn't found the 10 yet)
The clue made sense to me, but I had to google it to figure out what consonant to double. Kept missing it.
Oh, that was good! (Who)
Who??
10 definition is one (well, pl) who has an interest, but a shallow one with only superficial knowledge (enough to impress, say, at a cocktail party -- do they still have those? -- about art, music, theater, etc. then moves on to the next one.
The definition given here is two-part. The superficial person and then a person with a genuine interest. That is why I find the word confusing.
Doctor Who - new episode just finished here
Evening all.I'm not a Dr Who fan, but I've just watched Season 3 of Luther on Netflix. Hoo-hah! All I can say is.... Watch It. It's terrific.
I think the word "genuine" as part of the definition is incorrect (wouldn't be the first time in this dictionary, would it?). The only way I've ever heard the word used is disparagingly ... synonym for dabbler.
now you've got me hooked; going to look it up in a "real" dictionary
Also not a Dr. Who fan, but I know why Soodle likes Luther. Idris!
Sigh. In the circles in which I move, we have different words to describe such people.
four left - all te 5s and 6s
Oh Molly.... HOO-HAH! HOO bloody HAH!
Have you watched Luther, Molls?
Yep. Tiny Ruby is also an Idris fan.
Molly, I think I found the answer to the 10 confusion. Main definition is a person whose interest in an art or in an area of knowledge is not very deep or serious. Etymology: delight. So the interest is real; just doesn't go very deep.
Well then, the definition here is junk, which doesn't surprise me.
<thinking aloud... Cannot think of a red-blooded straight woman who would not be extremely impressed by Idris....
just tickled me: think of our "question mark" definitions as for di10 people!
correction - as di10-ish. Babblers are never thus.
Finally - fw thanks to morewords (cheating, I know - but I'd have never got the te 5/12 without it)
Tiny Ruby, Molls? Is that OUR Ruby your tLking about?
Ah, but there are red-blooded, straight women who find Mick Jagger and Tom Petty hot...so there is no accounting for some red-blooded, straight women's taste.
Of course it's our Ruby I'm talking about.
🎼🎧🎂Yay Matty!!!!
In my opinion, there is no "cheating" while playing this game. You play it the way you want to.
Hmmm. I wouldn't kick Mick Jagger out of bed....
Guten Nacht, alles - bis Morgen!
Nite Matty
Ha! I Wouldn't Kick Him Out Of Bed is a game that the girls that I run with and I play.
OK, telly's on and there's an ad for Christmas and how we all wish it started earlier. I DON'T!
Lol! I'd love to play that game with you & your gals, Molls! With loads of alcohol involved!
Seems like advertisers think the holiday ads are all fair game starting October 1st.
I'll take the snow starting earlier, at least.
I would kick Mick. Unless I had to put up with him for his money. Then perhaps a lot of alcohol and a bag for his head would do the trick.
Ha ha! An old Irish saying springs to mind! Nobody looks at the fireplace when they are poking the fire...
And that probably wouldn't even work because teenage boy waistlines are a deal breaker for me.
Soodle, you know that saying was created by people who get drunk and go home with someone who appalls them in the morning, right?
Helloooo!!! Yes, Molls.
It's like the line "Drink up baby, I get prettier as the night goes on"
I have been that soldier. :-(
9 times out of 10 that gets said to someone who needs to get better looking as well, soldier. : D
Rofl!
Well, off I go to the pub, taxi'll be here in 10 mins. Enough time to fix the face. Nite all. :-)
Ooo, Soodle is on the prowl. Happy hunting Soodle.
Good evening kiddies
anyone here??
