Does the last pa-8 start with pana? Thanks
yes
Thanks much, Dianne.
Wait, I said yes but I 'ma not sure. If there are 3 pa8's then I don't know.
2 pa8s start with that
Yes, there are 3, Dianne.
I have the first 2 but cannot get the 3rd pa-8.
Hi there, dcseain. Haven't seen you for a while. Hope all is well with you.
evening, peach, thank you, things are well. and you?
Doing OK so far. Getting a lot of rain here....but better than all of the snow in the NE.
we're to get a very moderate amount of snow on Wed into early Thur. Early, if known, for here.
Will you be on the road for Thanksgiving or having dinner at home or close by?
peach - did you get the 3rd pa8?
Not yet, Dianne.
Want a clue?
whoot!! cooee and g'gay from me.
Sure, thanks.
Hi rose - having fun?
ugh...in holiday mode...g'day...lol
dianne....am so relaxed
A large gland in the body
Hey there, Rose.
any more relaxed and i would be a puddle.
Glad you are enjoying.
g'day peach
Thanks much, Dianne. Looking.
i have seen some amazing sights. i never get over how our country surprises me.
peach - think of what you press in a pant's leg.
can't wait for our north america/canada trip.
Got it. Thanks again, Dianne.
last night not much sleep. dh booked us into a rural pub. two flights of stair up, bare bulb in the ceiling, no bedside lamps, shared toilet/bathroom with all who were in for the night, male and female.
LOLOL...what can i say?/ his mother was scottish.
BUT....the food was great. nearly ate myself sick.
Hi, all. Been a while. I should be packing...
...and back to packing!
back for a bit, when is your Canada trip planned, Rose?
very quiet in chat tonight
hello. Is anybody still h ere?
my usual bad timing
sorry, flosey, june 2016 about.
{{rosie}} I saw your description of the shared bathroom
I would bblow myself up!
cooee and g'day from me.. {{hugs}} ruby
but was it a good break, anyway?
ugh, ruby. it was abysmal.
once I stopped being broke all the time, I vowed never to share a bathroom if it wasn't absolutely necessary
lolol...ruby...anything to make dh aware that i am not a whinger.
you are about as far from being a whinger as is possible! You're my hero (ine)
ruby, still on our holiday. have reached lake's entrance. our favourite part of the world.
aaah, could you tell me the name of the lake, maybe I can find it in googlearth
have just been out for dinner. started with a chowder with prawns, scallops and pieces of delish fish. then onto a linguine carbonara to die for. finished with a berry crumble.
that sounds wonderful
ruby, google lake's entrance. it's a very popular holiday resort.
I'll google it after I "see to" old Burt Who, by the way, is driving me insane with his increasing dependence
I am NOT a nice person
I've mailed you a silly package, but more will follow when I have some time
Kitchen is finished and is lovely again, looks much like it did when we first remodeled the house
awww, {{hugs}} my darling ruby. you are a nice person...burt takes a lot of caring.
I am just so tired all the time and have to atch him every minute as he is stating to do occasionally strange things
Doesn't get "sequencing" for example
ruby, has sprite been in since the weekend?

i am worried about her son.
I haven't seen her, but haven't been in here very much
The other night, though, I was on at the same time as soodle and a bunch of us got into a rather risqué chat. I'm sorry you missed it. Everybody started contributing rhymes
ruby...so long as HE doesn't feel too warm, let it be. i know it irks when something is in the wrong order. but if it works, hun, stand back.
"choose my battles", right?
ruby, it's just like bringing up a child...what they want to do, if it is not ha4ful to them, then let it alone.
see you later, sweetie
exactly, my dear. hope your day is delightful. xoxox

morning all- late start to this rainy day :-)
hi, all. lovely grid today. I'm excited...we're preparing for our Thanksgiving on Friday with just my parents, my youngest brother and nephew, and a friend of my son's as guests this year.
hi angel- we are doing friday as well- going to friends for a few hours on thursday- so i am doing leisurely prep :-)
we started having our celebration on Friday when I was working. i worked on Thanksgiving Day so others could be off work. I liked it so much, we have just continued. I have cooked for as many as 22 people, so this year is very small by comparison.
nice :-)
only 8 people is a breeze :)
WE have to work Thursday and Friday, so I'm having a couple around and their 15 year old daughter. I'll make chicken though.
:-) sounds good matty
GM kids
we're having turkey prepared in our new electric roaster, stuffing, yams, cranberry sauce, make-ahead mashed potatoes, corn pudding, gravy, green bean casserole, fruit salad and dinner rolls, with pies for dessert. very traditional for our family.

Car is The Clue Queen Of The Day. *Passes Car a Captain Morgan*
surely something better than a Captain Morgan --- maybe an Appleton Estate?
I believe Captain Morgan is Car's rum of choice.
Me, I stick with the Irish whiskey.
oh well, in that case
He is waiting for me on the kitchen table....
and I'll take a nice single malt scotch
I don't care for Appleton Estate...too sweet.
although I do like the appleton as well
I like Irish Whiskey too!
I'm in on the scotch
Oh yeah, boozing it up in Babble chat.
I need a clue please for the second pa 6/21...it comes just before all the PA 8's.

sorry erda didn't mean to be nasty -- it's just that I was looking for a clue of some sort, not "look it up" .
Nan; looking up items on the web is the easiest way to find answers. Not difficult at all. But here's a clue: Las + "I feel ***mmy + ***spool

Nasty weather here too Annie. *Passes Annie a hot toddy*
Hi Owl, I dont like to drive on TG anymore. My daughter said he would come and get me but I am not up to that yet. So, home it is and it will be fine. The day I watch football with Bobby and eat in the livingroom. What are your plans?

*gratefully accepts hot toddy*
Have you been sick Annie?
No, Molly. Why do you ask? Oh, I see what you mean. No, I just don't want her to get me and then she has to bring me home.
Ah, I misunderstood "not up to that yet". Glad you haven't been sick. Sounds like a cozy day for you and your son.
Molly, Yes, I am looking forward to a quiet day. What are you plans for TG?

suppposed to be gathering in bear-land. but i think their forecast is -10in
Owl, bear-land? Poconos?
no, near apshawa preserve. where the bear ate the young man earlier this year.
Oh, that was awful.
Well, we were all supposed to gather at my son's house but my daughter-in-law was hospitalized with a Crohn's flare up, so it's going to be a small gathering at my house instead.
my mother always warned me not to take an after dinner walk...
sorry to hear that, molly.
Molly, Sorry to hear about your daughter-in-law.
Thanks Annie and TO. It's been a rough struggle for those two with the Crohn's. The "in sickness" part of marriage is no fun.
Molly, Has she ever considered taking Humira for the Crohn's?
Oh Annie, she has taken everything. And been everywhere, including Mayo. They just can't get a handle on what her particular deal is.
Molly, That is so stressful. My heart goes out to them.
Molly, so sorry to hear about your daughter-in-law. Crohn's is an awful disease.
Hi Sue, I wish you and Frank a peaceful Thanksgiving day.
thanks, annie! And the same to you and yours.
thanks!
hi, sue
hi, TO! Are you getting snow? How about you, annie?
sue, right now, rain. it was snowing before.
ah. Rain is better :-)
Thanks Sue, I know you are all too familiar.
yes, heavy wet snow.
Sounds ominous
taking a break, be back later
Good afternoon
Not too bad here now. But I think it's going to start up again.
Referring to Phoenix weather, I paraphrase: When it rains, it pours---somewhere else.
hello O|ur winters have become much more mild than they were the first few years we were here
Last year, there was barely any snow and no hard frost
The house is cold becauxe there's no central heat, but outside it's clement
It's a good place to live ruby
Yes, I can put up with the cold house just for the splendid view and the garden
there's a fireplace?
Yes, one in the living room and one in the kitchen/breakfast room. And the wallcovering is mostly warm colors, so that helps. LOL
There are electric radiators in the bathrooms
spend the day in the bathroom
I just wear many layers so I'm OK and we watch TV in bed, under the duvet and many blankets
SSounds like the winter I spent in Israel
were you on a kibbutz?
no, in a stone building with stone floors
stats for bottom r, pls

do you want a clue?
no got it, ty ruby
I only have 115 words but good night anyway.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving
You too rubes
Alot of the older French houses don't have radiators. They have electic heaters and wood burns to keep rooms warm and hi all
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter-in-law Molly, my friend has Crohns aswell and it flares up from time to time.I hope she feels better and gets out of hospital soon
Thank you L, I appreciate your good thoughts.
I also hope that all my American friends have a great Thanksgiving and that you can all get to your families safely, especially with the bad snow some of you are having.
I feel sorry for anyone traveling in this part of the US today. It's miserable.
My good thoughts are always sent to babble friends and families :)
Are you having it bad too Molly?
Molly, Do you know how long your daughter-in-law will be in hospital? You can have another one when she is out so she and your son don't miss out with family time.
It is up in the air how long she will be in the hospital. My son works restaurant hours so it's hard for him to juggle time off and family dinners. We will just make up for this at Christmas.
Well,i hope she is out soon and then you can have a great Christmas all together.
I am making good use of my sudden acquisition of free time by making pecan pie cookies. It smells good in here.
I've never had pecan pie or cookies, but i do like the smell of freshly cooked biscuits/cakes and pies
they sound good! i may bake walnut tassies.
Hi TO.What are walnut tassies?
tartletswith walnut filling
Sounds good.I love walnuts, but they are very expensive here along with most nuts.
One I am done with work I am going to make a chocolate pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and cranberry relish. Hoping I can get out early. :)
yes, i found 18 oz for 6.99, a good price.
ok elsebet. what time should we come over? :)
I'm coming too!!!
Hi Elsbet, sounds lovely
Well you're not too far away, I'm on the eastside of Seattle :)
Haha, I'm hosting this year, so you should bring your pies to me ;)
well, i cannot find the tossie recipe.
and i cannot ask the person who gave it to me, it would be the third time
Hello everybody, wishing you all a very happy Thanksgiving. Molls, that's a bummer for your DIL. I hope she recovers quickly.
TO,It's £2.60 here for a 200g bag
Hi Lexi and Soodle :)
Hey Lil. :-)
I'm watching 'I'm a Celebrity' and wish i wasn't because if i have to see Kendra whine on when doing another challenge i'm going to pull my hair out...she's worse than a toddler!
Thank you Soodle.
How she can be called a celebrity when she slept with Hugh Hefner,i have no idea
Thank goodness I didn't get hooked on it this year. I watched one episode & was bamboozled by CIA, so I switched over.
Just another in a long line of ho's that slept with Hefner.
What annoys me, is that she gets payed about a two figure sum, as in ??.ooo just for whining and saying @i can't do it'....i can do that for less money.
He was 78 when she slept with him so she said.
I had to look up the show you are talking about. Seems like a strange premise for television.
To be quite honest, half of them aren't celebrities. One of them was voted out of x factor a few weeks ago and now he's on this show and it says he is a 'reality tv star.' Get out of it, he didn't even make it to the quarter finals, plus he is annoying with his high pitched voice and his flirting with the females...he's a right dog!
But strangely addictive, Molls. Which is why I'm glad I didn't get sucked in this year.
I've never been a big fan of "voting" shows.
Yes, i always say i'm not going to watch it again and hubby hates programmes like this but also gets sucked in.I just like watching them have to eat animals' penises and other appendages...lol
L, you need to get out more.
:)
I know, sad eh? I just laugh at their faces. Some of them get paid as much as £100,000 and they only have to stay in 3 days to get their full money, so i think they should all eat things like that. Then they whine on that they don't like bugs...well, they are in a jungle and they know before they go in that the challenges always have bugs and reptiles in them.it's not a holiday!
i don't think i could eat such even for that much pay.
But when they get voted off it is a lovely hotel and all their rooms have kitchenettes and food and champagne/alcohol in.I'd go on there and be glad to be voted off and then swim in a nice pool and sunbathe for 2 weeks whilst i waited for the others to be voted off
They don't all get to eat horrible things To.Some of them hardly do anything, especially if they don't get voted by the public.
L, stick with the sewing bee show. It's much better for your mental health.
Lol Molly, yes that and the Great British Bake off, oh and i do like Strictly.I don't get annoyed with people with those shows and they don't wind me up.
Plus in two of the shows they're not celebrities so they don't get paid.
My guilty TV secret is the soap operas. Eastenders, Coronation Street & the Irish one, Fair City. I don't sit down to watch them, but they're on in the kitchen as I potter about, so I absorb them, more than watch them.
I use to watch Eastenders and Neighbours but i don't bother now as they got boring in the end.
Happy Thanksgiving Eve. We are having our meal tonight as daughter #2 must work tomorrow.
hello, everyone. clue for the ph8?
*Adds "potter" to word list, which includes plodding, trudging and meandering.
Happy Thanksgiving Phan. What slave driver does your daughter work for?
Think of a game bird, Dawg.
Lbd it is a wild bird which we eat and normally get's shot
I meant game bird
Hi Phan,Lbd and Zoom :)
she works at a doggy daycare.
Also Phan, you are in the grid, so extra wine for you (as I suspect you are already into it)
ty, Lilianne
I get to be off tomorrow, but then again, I will be working on Christmas day.
and zooz
Happy early Thanksgiving for you and your family Phan.
Hi, Lilliann :-)
Not yet, but we have a bottle of pressecco to enjoy with our meal tonight.
People take their dogs to day care on Thanksgiving? I thought dogs were a part of the family and all that.
I think they are being boarded.
tadone! finito! and now must go start preping for tomorrow's feast. hagd/e everyone!
Bye Lbd and tc
Hag!!
oh, and happy thanksgiving to everyone!
Well Phan, I hope your girl makes extra money for working on a holiday. I feel bad for people who have to work so that others can be off celebrating.
she is getting paid time and a half
there are so many retaliers open tomorrow.
I find that terrible!
I agree. I refuse to shop on Thanksgiving. This year my husband volunteered me to cook dinner at his mother's, so we won't even go out.
i have mied emotions. most peple are off and have time they may not have otherwise. and people need to work. My only problem is when people are coercced to work.
My husband was coerced to work for years. He worked all mon-fri, unless he was on vacation. Including thanksgiving and Christmas.
To take vacation, someone had to cover for him. He retired this summer.
There should be some days when businesses just close their doors and let people go home to be with their families. Thanksgiving is one of those days.
sick of 6 months of forced overtime.
what industry was that?
I saw something on TV today (can't remember the show) where a person said you could tell the nature of a culture by what their tallest buildings represented. For example, long ago churches were the biggest and tallest as people were focused on religion. Now, the tallest tend to be banks and shopping locations. Guess today we really do worship the almighty dollar.
what is the third pa 8, pls
perhaps. or perhaps just a function of space.
sorry, don't get it
pa8...body organ that makes insulin
ty Molly
I should know that, being diabetic
Interesting. In DC no building can be taller than The Washington Monument
Which is why other big cities give me the creeps. Here, you can always see the sky.
does the un word nuild from a grid word?
Yes
ty. that makes fw for me. happy thanksgiving, all.

but it is nice not to have skyscrapers.
i guess i have the chat all to me'self
Happy Thanksgiving to you, TO and all!! Pumpkin pie is baking and I honestly never made such a weird crust as this one. I used the coconut shortening and it reacts really differently from my usual shortening. We'll see if the pumpkin pie is something we are thankful for tomorrow.
nope, you are not alone mkg.. I am not chatting because my internet connection is spotty and I have to optimize my time on line when I can enter words. Wish it were otherwise..
hi alo! hope the connection gets better.
stid, i am sure they pie will be super.
we are at my daughters for today and tomorrow and then to my sons. will get to see 9 of the grandkids on this 4 day whirl.
Oh, lots of youngesters in your future mkg. I saw one of my (two) grandsons today and felt blessed. Your cup runneth over.
oh for clues for the 7s and 8s...................i have only one 8 the pa organ, and no 7s. all help welcome.
stid i am still in grandchild mode. eldest just started college and daughter due with a baby next week. and one son engaged now. i have 18 grandchildren and it is truly the greatest joy. right? so i cant but imagine the compounded joy of great grands!
Just starting and happy to have a few of the 4 and 5 words!
what can i clue for you? happy to help if i can
Since I am just starting, I need to empty my brain first before asking for clues.
mkg, how many children did you have?
we are so thankful for the two grandkids we have.. I am imagining 18.. wow
six: 5 of my own, one foster son. the foster son is eldest with 5 kids including the one in college. then daughter has 5, son has 4, son has 3, daughter has 1 and one due any day. then baby son engaged.
alo, the only issue is birthdays. i never remember them. i try to send email for it now that google calendar reminds me.
lol.. yup, a calendar would be a necessity.. how wonderful to have such markers on your yearly calendar.. so, you fostered a son before you began a bio family? My hat is off to you, mkg!
i am blessed with them and the fact that they all want us to visit them. and they call call to ask questions about child rearing which is a really fantastic thing....makes me feel wanted, needed and blessed that they want my view.
resc*n is too a word!!!!!!!!!! if i sc*n documents and they dont go through, i resc*n them!
yes, what a wonderful feeling.. and such a testament to all that you did when you raised them.. yay
well for sure i made many many mistakes. for sure. i was sometimes to harsh, sometimes to lenient, but i guess somehow my love and caring for them came through.
absolutely so.. you did a super job
being a grandparent is the best!

?? internet is whacky.. whatever suits you Trif.. that is what matters
tries to picture Trif in Blue hair
hopefully this color does...trying a new one. Tertiare picked it out, and she has a great style eye, so I feel sure I will be fine. If not, it will wash out soon enough
hahha, ruru....red, not blue
a little blue and you'd be patriotic
well, let us know.. I may be inspired by you in the New Year to try something new
but not blue
I guess I would, ruru...I did have multi-color hair back in the 80s, when new wave was all the rage
happy thanksgiving, early, to all those who celebrate same

wv i dont get clue about holy place. i dont see sanctuary in grid.
ooops got it and to PB for me.
It started as rain for us, and then changed to snow. Was surprised at how fast it started to accumulate especially on the road. If it had been all snow, we would have been snowed in! I probably would still be at work.
where do you live phand? in MD?
Yes, In Frederick County, MD
we are in NY on long island visiting my daughter but tomorrow night we go to philly and i dont want to drive in snow.

what does ph stand for in your name? is it ph and md or is it phand and then md?
That's right, MKG, P is the first initial of my husband's name, this was his account first. Hand is my last name, and MD is where we live.
oh ok. very interesting.

Lillyhammer is about a NY gangster that turned state's evidence and moved to Lillyhammer, and resumes his gangster life.

snow is falling in calgary, but i'm in new jersey now (and it's snowing here, too) - snow for everyone!
New Jersey?! I had no idea. are you there for the holidays? I hope you meet up with Hego. She is great
yep, visiting family. no babble get-togethers this trip, though. (i've met hego and you're right - she IS great, and so is mr. hego)
I totally agree with Mr Hego. He was the only other man at the one here and my husband was very grateful for his gentle presence.
he may have a gentle presence, but boyhowdy, he's a riot :)
(and he was the only man at that babble dinner - mr. hego and his harem)
love the boyhowdy reference

67 to go here
you could do it, with lickety and morewords...
anyway, fireworks!
holy cow, you fast!!!!
i have my own cheat sheet, but i usually have to use lickety for the last few anyway
lickety and morewords, I say!
I usually try to get to 2/3 without them
anyway I am going to go get a snack and then check on Frank - he was really freezing, and went to bed with his electric blanket
holy cow.. the English around here is terrible :D
sometimes i resort to morewords, but usually if i'm really stuck, and i'm near the end, i just call it a day
how so, ruru?
would you prefer german instead? Sie Erdnussbutterkopf!!
BDG is moving onto Ebonics
