WTG GAPEACH!!!
I really haven't felt like doing anything much lately...lost a wonderful friend in KY t weeks ago.....car she was riding in ran a red light and a semi hit her side.....took two hours to cut her out of the car. ....the helicoptered her to Louisville to a Trauma Unit.....she lived 3 weeks and 5 days. I called the hospital twice a day, and for a while I thought she might come out of it, she was 74 and her body was so badly damaged she just couldn't make it.
I don't take anything or anyone for granted anymore. I'm so grateful for you all, the finest bunch on the planet.
Blessings.
oh, peach, i am so sorry to hear that, dear. it's so hard to lose someone in that way.
Thanks Rose.
prayers and blessings for you and her family are on their way, hin
Thanks, my dear. I guess I'd better do a few things before bed time. See y'all later.
sweet dreams, dear. it's gonna be a tough time for a while.
good morning all
*sends peach caring thoughts and prayers*
{{hugs}} my darling
rose!!!!!!! :D *hugs* Sorry about the last few days. But I wrote you a long email to tide you over.
thanx my dear, it was so nice to hear from you. glad you liked my little christmas token.
very much so. It already hangs in place, ready for the new year. First appointments are on it already too.
lol, that's lovely to hear....i thought the pics would interest all of you.
they do. Thanks my darling :)
and how are you, sweetie? have you had a better night?
my night was ok, as december nights go. And I am fine. My turn to cook today, must decide on what, then go shopping. How are you? Hydro pain subsided?
yes thanx....we have nearly finished all the chrissy preparations.
unfortunately, the stress set of a fit of the all over tremors this am. i resorted to a small dose of valium, and they subsided.
{{{{{{{{{{rose}}}}}}}}}} ikr? That is one of the reasons we don't do big christmas celebrations here in the house. Not worth it to be in agony over. Good decision on the valium.
i am thinking i can no longer handle a busy christmas. we are going to try and keep it as simple as possible.
one of the verdicts I arrived on some years ago too. We nowadays go by the KISS principle.
good morning?
hello ruby?
{{hugs}} ruby
ruby is neither here nor there, sixes and sevens
I just tried to pay a bill by phone and discovered it was already paid directly. Duh
ah, at least that is a good discovery

Have a great day, Sprite :-)
very ea** firt half
After a very windy night, it looks like it is going to be a nice sunny day here today!
first* less than 10 ins, a record for me
Good going, Ruby!
We had dense fog last night but it is lovely and sunny today, probably 50F
It had be4 rather cold here but for the last couple of days it has been around 12c/ 55F
similar to us, zzoozz, you ar not so far away
I would agree with you if I was a cloud floating in the sky going over to you..lol but I am sure traveling across land we are very far apart..you are near to Switzerland!
but although Sprite is probably closer, your weather is more like ours
Yes it do4 seem that way, Ruby..lol
I think the Netherlands gets ore of the northerly weather that goes to Germany and Scandinavia
Has your DIL left yet, Ruby, or has she left?
What on earth was that sentence I just typed..lol
Or is she still with you ? (that was meant to be)
She left last week but I am still in the midst of the "refreshment" of the house and the painter messed up the kitchen lights. So today, an electrician is coming
She was a big help, especially taking Rafaella to the vet for her Entropion surgery. I could never have done that without her
It is nice to have people around you who can help. How is Rafaela now after the surgery?
The housekeeper will help me take her back to have the stitches out, but she looks very different, even more beautiful now that her eyes aren't weepy and squinty
I couldn't manage on my own as husband is no help any more
(the dog, not the housekeeper)
Yes it must be very hard on you and for you to cope with everything with a husband who is deteriating. is there no where he could go and stay for people like himself? or is that not an option you want to take?
It isn't an option as he lacks the language skills and the necessary hearing. I just have to muddle through
nighty-night folks. pillows calling, fell asleep at the keyboard...lol xoxox
Shame. But glad you have a housekeeper who can help you at times.
ave a wonderful sleep, Rose :-)
Have*
is that what those forehead dents are?
lol
off I go, lunch at the brasserie today. Not fancy, but good food
{{zzoozz}}
Hope you enjoy your meal, Ruby, And hpe also you have a great day :-)

phantom: badass
Ah! The airline of the Caribbean is in the grid!
Leaves Island Any Time....I know it well :)
Enable is wonderous and mysterious
Just like Christmas!
No, it is more like owning a really, really ugly dog, first it is interesting, then it is annoying, then , after enough time, you come to love it despite its quirks
did you notice that EBOLA is in the grid...I wonder if it is contagious?
LOL
I just spent 10 days doing a paper on the play Othello:( sigh... only 4 more assignments to go with it:(
For the record, next door's landscaping guys are already busy at work. Have been for about 30 minutes.

Here, all contractors are allowed to make as much noise as they wish starting at 07:00 am
I need that too, Marc.
I remember when I was working for one; all us workers would be sitting around, drinking coffee and waiting for the stroke of 7 to arrive
I think that is the rule here as well, crossy.
vi7...Like the onion with a different second letter
by 07:01 we had the jackhammers going and the bulldozers roaring:)
Great clue Molly...ty
Clue please for EN 5/16?
7AM is a pretty standard start time for contracting noise. I think you've got a violation going Car.
vi 7, not ve7?
It is almost 8:00 here
VE
Oh, they are landscapers. I'm assuming they aren't making that much noise.
Yes, ve7, sorry about that.
Sigh.. my cat is playing sphincter-mouse again. i got it back but it is slightly disconcerting to use now... think i will get a sterile wipe and clean it before i continue...

Hi Matches
hi cousin
Hi cousin!
I had a dream last night that we were traveling in Italy--the girl cousins--and boy, were we having fun.
I got some of the aleevo lotion and it seems to work better on my dads skin. Now thats a good dream!
Aveeno--good stuff.
one of these days we will do a cousin trip to Italy. we made it to Bryce so we'll get to rome one day
Yes, it is #1 on my bucket list, that the 5 of us go there.
I spent a semester there and never got to VEnice, so I have to see it before it sinks
Si si!
hello all
Hi aslindy
Hi
24 to go. BRB, must get breakfast.
Hi All
hello hego
hi hego
Hello Aslindy, how are you?
And Earth too.
I am doing well, thank you. how are you?
having a good day so far. 16 words to go
Very well thanks.
Could I get a clue for the vi7, I did not understand the clues that we previously given.
Earth you folks must get yourselves to Italy!
Yes Scabs and I talk about it alot, so we will do it. Marc do you me ve 7. I don't have it yet
yes I am confused
Hego, we want to see where our grandparents grew up!
It's great fun to do that.
Hego, Earth's father is almost 92 and is the brother of my mother, now 83.
Like my family.
ve7 = a type of onion
Mom had 6 sisters and 3 brothers.
ve + Gore Vi*** + flower dahl**
thanks, scrab
We were 23 cousins.
Thanks got them and great clue
good clue scabs
Lots of fun, Hego!
hello, all. this is a bad time to be sick, shopping not done.
I thought the onion was spelled with a vi.
Oh, no, Owl. Respiratory illness?
hi owl
oh, sorry TO.
Me too. I have the flu.
i do not know. fever well over 102 last night, body aches, stmach cramps
Oh, poor Annie!
oh no, annie!
Real flu, Annie?
Yuk, Owl.
Could be flu also. I hope not.
I hate being sick at the holidays
i thought flu was respiratory
yes, true influenza is awful.
I got sick Wednesday..been running 102 degrees temp and coughing and achy
Flu is a respiratory illness--cough, body aches, fever, headache.
Lots of fluids Annie.
hmm, then i guess i have a nasty virus.
never had one with chills and body aches.
How long does this usually last?
Depends on the virus.
True flu is 7-10 days of acute part, but may take a few weeks for full recovery.
oh annie, that is awful.
I dislike when even your skin hurts--moving under blankets hurt.
Good lord.
oh my, what disease it that?
fever can cause that TO
It is part of the fever/body aches phase.
i hope nrk is not on line now. :)
Why?
nm. bad joke.
nrkii is a severe hypochondriac.
yup. :)
FW
Yay Matty!
Hey Matty!
well done,matty!
Hiya
congrats, matty
Matty, are you still in US?
poor Annie and TO. My husband caught a cold from his daughter, NY germs, I guess.
I just wash my hands constantly and hoe for the best (and I didn't give his daughter any kisses.....bad Nel)
imported viruses.
Bill has a sore throat, no kisses for him.
I think it makes a difference. We grow resistant to what we encounter daily but then, WHAMMO
it's hard to keep ahead of the germs, what with shpping, using public facilities, eating on the run...
Exactly Ruby.
Take vitamin D all winter---5000 units daily. It boosts the immune system.
vitamindcouncil.org
I drink a lot of vitamin D added milk which is hard to find here. The French don't seem to know about vit. D and Fluoride
and i was handling money while woring the market last week, and using a touch screen register
oh yuck, TO.
um working?
we would work three hours without a break, so no hand washing. tried to keep from touching face, etc
Done. Any clues wanted?
Very difficult.
I think you catch these things through your eyes rather than your mouth
Congrats Scrabs.
yay, scrabbler
most of the vitamin D in milk ends up in the bottom of the carton, especially if not whole milk... so maybe the French just understand it does nothing ; )
congrats, scrabbs
second e down in 2nd row?
You would have to go around wrapped in plastic to avoid all the germs we encounter on a day to day basis.
I hate to jinx myself, but I haven't had a cold in as long as I can remember, including before we moved here.
et4--Greek letters
Maybe it's my plSTIC CLOTHES AND COLD NATURE!
et4/4 kje
sheesh - ty scrab
and judy
Yep, I'm still in the US - I'll be here til NYE
Or typing in caps and keeping everybody away
haha Ruby
Matty how is the family doing?
maybe you've lived long enough now that you've already had most viruses and are immune ; )
hi all. any clues for the 8?
I find that kje.
The only time I've ever been sick was when I got cancer. Never had any of the childhood diseases. It's all very weird
still slightfever this am,guess i should not even try to go shopping
I can't keep up with the vitamin D saga. Drink milk/milk does nothing...take extra vitamin D/synthetic vitamin D does nothing...etc
I have 102 this AM--took aspirin, came down to 101 degress
Actually, I like milk, especially whole, sterilized milk.
I even drink it with scotch
Fluids, fluids
scotch and milk?
dont mind my grammar, not myself
personally, not a fan of milk... but eat cheese like crazy
I have heard of scotch and milk.
mkg, ve7/8 combo
annie stay in bed! that is a high fever for an adult.
yes, Adam Clayton Powell gave me th idea (not directly, lol) but it doesn't affect the taste of the whiskey, just makes it smooth
sorry you feel poorly, annie... you can take some tylenol on to of that aspirin - will be fine, and will be better to reduce your fever
any clues for that ve 7/8?
scotch and vanilla ice cream, very good.
on top of..
I wish I could make you some chicken soup, Annie
reminds me of a type of onion with a different second letter, mkg
I think scotch is good with just about anything
Judy, hi!!
*Passes Annie a hot bowl of Jewish penicillin*
Thanks, kje
hi Judy
good clue, judy
Hi Hego, Ruby, kje, scrabs, molly, annie, to etc.
en5/16, please?
got the ve 7/8. ty. it is the onion!!!!!!!! yeah.
thanks ruby and Molly
oh, I always thought it was spelled with an "i" not an "e"
is this the Judy from Scranton?
me too Judy
The onion is spelled with an "I"
name the writers' paradise
me too judy. or an a.
starts with a y
no ruby; but I'm in PA. About 1-1/2 hrs south of Scranton
don't have it marc
judy, it is not the onion......just same sound. it is a bird from australia........
en5/16, please?
I lived one hr north of Scranton for a long time
en5/16 a sort of diplomat who carries missives
upper a next to the s?
Fr word
Thx Ruby!
kje is that a clue for me?
i need a clue for a word that must be "in" something. anyone have it? from the i top row?
Upper A...not on shore
ty Ruby, I went all around that.
no, I don't have it marc
upper a -- a very long time
ugh; thx Molly. Slap me with a fish!
Sorry, upper a is a long, long time
marc, see Runy's clues.
ah, yes, ty ruby
Ruby
thanks I got it
Have to thanks for all the clues, poof!
I don't every disagree with Molly as I am null in this game
ah yes, that tricky en5 spelling
and I've been trying to break 100 for a4's
so i guess fever is the sign to rest, and trying to go shppingwould be foolhardy?
Very foolhardy
i rarely get fevers, and certaily not this high, so i really do not know
shopping can wait, to, a hot toddy might bring the fever down. There we go, scotch, honey, and hot water
Ruby's cure all. lol
Is't the fever a sign that your body is fighting the infection?
Not to mention being the Christmas version of Typhoid Mary
i still cant see that en word. darn.
It may not cure anything, but you will feel better. :)
yes fever means body is trying to fight.
Typhoid Merry
Mabe that's why I don't get colds, the alcohol kills germs
:)
hahah KJE
:)
i suggest tons and tons of liquids all day for fever. tea with a bit of wiskey is super good.
I do hot whiskey and honey with a dash of cloves. It's wonderful when you feel sick.
or even if you don't feel sick....
down to 100.8.
supder good for a cold or fever.........and try some cinnamin in it. darn, never can spell cinnimam....
man........
temple you have fever too?
any "in" clue?\
No sense in ruining good whiskey with tea. : D
yep. not as bad as last night, thank goodness. no chills.
pls give me the stats for the 7's, not breaking 100 is very annoying
i only have the ve 7. do you need it ruby?
I only have the ve7
I only have the ve one.
same here
still dont get the en word, or any in words. any cluers out there?
en is a courier

hello hego
Hi Ruby
thank you
here they use arnica which doesn't seem to do anything at all
lol
kind of futile.
They are great believers in homeopathic medicines but run to doctors more than any people I've ever known
So I've heard.
And they overprescribe antibiotics
Maybe because most of those remedies don't work.
and they belong to the heaslthcare system
That's too bad about the ab's.
Ruby, this cream has been around long before you moved to France.
arnica?
or be6
Since I was a kid.
I remember it, but never used it
And that's a looong time ago.
be6
I think hego and I were kids at about the same tie
It was actually developed by a doctor in France and had a French name that was Americanized.
I just learned that they have Vicks here which is a nice surprise
It starts with dancer Vereen's first name
I remember him, too, molly, and ty for the clue
I remember the old spelling.
Does anybody remember Valerie Perrine? The painter's wife looks just like her
I remember her

first time player.. is the object to try to get all 128 words for the day? Is there any way that we run out of letters before getting them all?
yes...one grid per day
the letters don't disappear...just the boxes at the bottom grey out when you get all the words for that letter...click on help...it explains the game.
thanks. what are the tile stats for?
that tells you how many words come from that letter
ok.. so there's no advantage to playing all the 6 and 7 letter words first. we can play four letter words early and do just as well... right?
hello,all.
hello babblers - how is everyone doing?
Hi
hello Paul, hello TO
hi paul,hi enomis
thanks temple
no way there are 11 l words
The only point of the game is to find all the words. It doesn't matter what order you find them.
ah, done. time to go back to sleep happy babbling, all.
Hi all!
Thanks for all the help. 67 words left and only 7 hours to go. (my wife'd kill me).

Welcometo abble, PaulNo. I hope you enjoy it and become addicted to it soon - er, become a regular here! ;-)
Thanks Nef.
Hi Nef, just starting, too. PaulNo will soon find the last few are not exactly the easiest but I won't try to change his first impressions!
Hi stidg. How are you doing today?
Nef really pushes this place. I think she gets a cut from the owner for everyone who joins. (Kidding) : D
stidgmere... I'm up to 96 and have put in about an hour. I can't imagine getting too many more.
Hi Molly. It's just that I've been addicted to the game for so long I want everyone to be. (Sadly, my own family hasn't even checked out the game - at least they've never said they have.
PaulNo, did anyone tell you about some helpful sites?
I'm fine. Day has been very fluxtuating here in the great Northwest. Our puppy had knee surgery Tuesday and will have a long time with restricted activity. Babble will be a good place for me to spend quiet time.
the word stats at the bottom are correct, but the tile stats don't seem to be right. Good luck with your puppy.
Oh, dear. Sorry to hear about your dog. I hope you won't have to carry him in and out to answer Natures calls?
ty PaulNo. We are fortunate to have a good vet consulting office not too far from our home so we have good care. Murphy can walk on three legs and we have a sling but he doesn't seem to require it on level surfaces.
our old neighbors used to have a dog who lost a leg, and that dog got all over on three legs. But... glad Murphy has a fourth. Hope it heals well.
PaulNo, down below the grid you'll find a "friends of Babble" section. There is a link there to Lickety's Babble clues that gives the first 2 letters and total letter and point counts that many people rely on here.
What happened to him sting?
oh thanks.
He tore a ligament and now has some hardware to aid his bending. He just was running and turned quickly and came up lame. The dog equivalent of the ACL tore.
Sorry, stidg. I just realized that spellcheck is correcting my typed names again. (my computer doesn't save new words when I sign out; and I don't know how to permanently get names here to "stick")
OUCH! Poor Murphy!
Murphy is such a good dog we will do everything in our power to keep him moving back to good mobility.
How old is he now, stidg?
He is 4.
Aw, he's just starting to grow up then. How long will he be on restricted activity?
8 weeks just lounging and then 8 more weeks a little more activity. After 16 weeks he can start taking walks a little distance at a time. Gradually increasing to his hour-long explorations with my husband.
Wow. that's a long time for a dog! (Although it took me months to heal from my knee injuries and surgeries too; maybe it isn't so long afterall
Aw, poor Murphy. I hope he heals quickly.
Hi all - wishing Murphy a speedy recovery (if you're still here stidg)
And actually even if you aren't, I still wish him a speedy recovery.
Hi Lizlin; how are you tonight? (I was off cleaning my kitchen so I can fix some leftover soup)
Hi Nef - I'm fine thanks. How are you?
Hubby & our son had a mid-afternoon "snack" and didn't clean up after themselves. TheyDID empty to dishwasher, though (which is amazing)
That is amazing! That and anything to do with washing - definitely my jobs!!!
Just hunting for my last word - sure it's obvious but I'm not seeing it. de 5/18?
They always say that they can't load it properly; so *I* load and they are supposed to empty it; but I usually end up doing the job because they don't do it soon enough
Hmmm. I don't have it either but am now looking
I seem to reload, when hubby loads - we love jigsaws but he doesn't apply the same logic to dishwashers!
LOL! Same thing here!
I think they'd say it doesn't need logic - just put the dishes in any old how!
de5= de + high point letter + pop of off
Fireworks!
Thanks Nef - I wouldn't have thought of trying that. It's a place name to me.
yw
According to the dictionary, a breed of cattle - well I'd also have thought that was a proper noun - but that's enable for you.
interesting; I'd never think of it as a place name! But I've seen it used as a boys name
Do you need any clues before I go?
It's a large area of the UK - next to Cornwall.
No, thank you. I'm going to go eat my soup and then come back for the last 30 later
OK - have a lovely evening. Good to catch up.
Oh! De***shire! I've heard of that!
But it's rarely mentioned with the shire bit at the end!
Niters, Liz. HAGD, and I hope you have a good holiday season!
You too :)
No? isn't that also the name for the cattle?
The cattle have the shire bit - but if you live there or are going there, you'd not use it.
English - so inconsistent. You would't leave shire off Yorkshire or Lancashire!
Thanks for that info; there are so many differences from one place to another, aren't there?
Have a good night, Nef and happy holidays.
(in language, I mean)
Bye!
help with en618 pls
NM
hi peri! Just got done with supper about 10 minutes ago
hi Nef. hi all
You have the funniest monkeys; they never help until you ask for help
:)
I actually have a night off! Grandson is off to visit his mother overnight (first time in 2 months)
"Never mind" syndrome is rampant in Babble Land.
that is good. how are you feeling today, Nef
Doing okay; should be able to get some decent sleep tonight I hope
I love(d) Gilda Radner. She was a great talent
Fireworked!! Not a big grid and very frie ndly one, too. Helped to have the chog lively.
very true, Molly; but peri is the most notorious at it
FW bye for now
YAY stidg!!! WTG!!!
YAY peri!!! WTG!!!
FW. Does anyone need any clues before I leave?
Okay; good luck and Happy Babbling!
hard
it is hard
give me a word to put on the stupid ass game
There's an ea4.6 street in Woodbridge, Virginia
or, opposite of hard (as in difficulty)
((hugs all)) the first two words I saw were a vinyard fermented product, followed by what the fruit grows on, followed by adolescence... I guess it's really time for winter break!
That starts Monday in DC and Wednesday in most of the other schools aroud here.
i hope you're otherwise well, stid
Yes, I was talking with Matthew the other day about the different schedules back East. I am, seain -- have been following the events of your life on fb, hope today was not too trying.
and yes, we are all well. Thanks.
i'm babysitting right now, will pay call on my mother afteward.
I am glad you get to spend time with your mother -- when my mother's mother was ill, we lived too far away for her (or me) to be much practical use.
anyway, fading fast. Down to 45, will try to stop in later... but not promising anything! LOL It's an "unscheduled" weekend for me! *poof*
Can I get a clue for the ve 7/8?
Helloooo....
Never mind. Fireworks!
Angelsong ...can I ask you a question?
"vinodate" an evening with ruru? *grin*
wow -- slow chat tonight --- should check time stamps before typing!
hi stid.
BUGS!!!!! Is survived the month!!!!
how are you? how is mr bugs? How is your remodel? Done? Pics? I MISS YOU!
I was sure you would! It is harder with little ones who get so excited
It was only REALLY hard Weds and Thurs. Today, for some reason, they mostly pulled it together.
Mr Bugs is fine, just puttering out in the shop as always. The remodel got canceled because the contractor pulled out and then I had the second surgery on my foot. It is finally almost normal now (except for the swelling) after a year.
drat on the contractor. :-(
Glad the surgery was successful!
Love to Mr. Bugs -- Mother's Murphy had surgery a few days ago, and Dad and she are staying home with him 24/7 because he can't use the leg right now (ACL repair was needed).
I still plan to do it but I used the time to repaint and remodel the office so it can be an office AND guest room if we turn the guest room into an ensuite and closet.
how nice! Good to make use of the time you have
Poor Murphy. He is so young so have joints give out!
did you work out a deal with stidkid #1? I offered my 2 bits for a solution but never heard how it was handled.
yes, well I suspect the breeders don't do "due diligence"
I got your message, have managed to explain my concerns well enough that the immediate concern is taken care of. Will need to spend some time this vacation working on the next things he needs to put in order.
I am glad it will work out. They do test the limits but sometimes they just forget the original deal and need a reminder.
there is no ve 7 word..... grrrrr
yes, well -- it is almost time for him to fledge. I am ready for him to find out what it is like to really step out and make it on one's own.
I have some 6s and some 5s, but nothing longer
The deals feel like baby steps but when they become habit, you can withdraw and know you have done your bit
I always have a harder time with longer words. Too many choices and the monkeys don't come thru as well
:-) you are wise. I so miss our regular chats
You would love my colleagues -- you already know mcurl... but some of the other teachers at the school are also so like us; words, plants, kids... :-)
ve7 sounds like an onion ..
hey tor!
Heyas kids ..
thanks tor. looking............
oooh! great clue!

pe6/7 = group/s of five

YAY bugs!!!
any others needed you two?
no thanks, down to 20 which is good enough (thanks TOR).
I have to prepare for Christmas deliveries tomorrow. Still haven't started baking. If it weren't such an important holiday for the kids, I would pass on Christmas traditions
I will head out and hope to see or talk with you with during my break.
I am off then. Get to see the grandkids this weekend which should be fun.
We are passing them this year, bugs -- too much to get things pulled together. Love to all! *poof*
I would love it stid. I still have great intentions of getting down to see your new house
