wtg Dee and Ru, just home from bridge
Hi flosey
Jilli finally wrote to me today
haven't seen her for quite a while, ru
she hasn't been out to bridge, is she ok?
Good morning
hi River
I see Jilli on facebook. She seems fine.
She sounded fine
She is always commenting on my posts
I am coming up in May flosey
Finally got a 7. Stats for the lone o please
I am seldom on FB
ok ru, looking forward to meeting you
I am on fb too much lately. Not much I can do while recovering.
Likewise
ah River, good time to catch up on everyone then
I am jealous you get to visit ruru
where are you, River
ah, then I looked, way East
cooee and g'day from me
In New Hampshire. Seems like the other side. Of the world from you.
now, yes - I was originally from Ontario
hi Rose
Hi gr
Hi grannyrose
hi flosey, hi river. how are you both?
wow!! hi ruru
Even Jilli was cheering on the Patriots this past weekend.
Brady is amazing
good thanks Rose, and you?
What a game
want
don had the injection into his shoulder this afternoon. it appears he has a lot of inflammation in it. we wait 2 months before his review by surgeon.
wow, why such a long wait?
Hoping for the best for him
he must be in quite a bit of pain?
flosey, have been able to reduce my magnesium. no recurrence of lower back spasms yet. tomorrow is the medical panel, to decide how much workcover has to pay me.
They made me wait 4 months between injections on my hip before considering surgery.
flosey, we have to see if it works or not. if it doesn't he has to have am MRI, and then a decision will be made what to do next
Good there is no back pain
fingers crossed rose - hope you get a good payback
river, it's 6 months here. i am seeing my orthopod when we know how don is.
Is it a work related injury?
don was reluctant to do anything about his shoulder, until i pointed out to him, that he has to be well before i have any further surgery.
yes it is river.
You need to take care of yourself too
At least you have each other.
Yeah it has to be better so he can peel grapes for you gr
for which i am truly grateful, river. i couldn't have come this far without this man beside me.
My 18 year old son is now past his embarrassment of putting my socks on for me.....lol
only peel them?? i wa4 them pre-chewed...lol
You are very lucky rose
Stomped.....
river, it's so difficult to reach those feet isn't it?
Still cant do the left one
Can reach mine
Hahaha
And these compression socks are tough to get on
I have to wear those for 4 weeks
oh so true river. i have two pair which are toeless, so can use the satin sock to slip them on easier
are yours with no toes, or are they the full sock?
What are compression socks for?
I can barely reach my right ankle so it doesnt matter. Mine have the whole in the toes. Stop blood clos in legs ruru
Hole
a) to reduce build up of fluid in the feet and ankles...b) to prevent blood clots
Oh
Clots
Maybe you can use one on Don GR?
river, do you freezer bags, or any sort of plastic bags in the house? if so, do you use them to help put the socks on?
Maybe you can use one on Don GR?
The folks at the hospital measured my legs so I would get the right compression fit.
lolol....are you calling don a clot?
No just in case he builds up fluids
:D
I do but cant reach that far yet on the surgical side. I can put the other on with no problem.
hahaha
Lol
Don't tell him I said that
Its only been 11 days. Must be patient.
hmmmm....
Yes river you have to heal
at least the weather is cooler for you. here the temp keeps spiking....it is way to hot for such thick socks.
Oh ya that would be miserable.
Our temps have been frigid lately
Did we lose Flosey? I didnt see her leave
Help with the lone o please
hi again River, was talking to hubby
he's off to bed, I'll go get into jammies and bb
on5/14, river
so that I don't disturb him by banging around when I go to bed
I will be heading back to bed shortly. It is 3am here.
brb
How thoughful.
river did you find the on5?
Not yet
would you like me to clue it for you?
Please
number before two + a little *a* of sunshine has come into the world.
Nm
Got it
yay you river
Thanks thats nbt and nbs. Back to bed. Nice to see you all.
sweet dreams river. lovely to see you.
back and now River's leaving, sweet sleep River
wb flosey.
ty rose
River isn't very often on at this time, is she?
what a pretty daughter she has
she sure is....
surgery does that to you, flosey. our body clock gets upset. it usually take a couple of weeks to settle down.
was her surgery recent then?
what was it for?
i think she said 11 days ago...
not absolutely sure, but i think it was a new hip...
wow, thought that was something that just we old folk ended up facing!
and here, seems we get on a waiting list!
*giggle* flosey....i don't think i am all that old. why is it we never see ourselves as others do? i blame all my problems on my career.
ah yes, there was a different reason for all the problems you faced
pounding those hospital halls all those years
always standing on hard floors
flosey, in order to not to have to pay the medicare levy at tax time, don joined us up with a private health insurance company. his canniness is now paying off.
wonderful, rose
good thinking
it means we don't have to wait, well not long anyway.
and if it can be later reimbursed, well that is all to the good.
for sure
we have pretty good medical plans here
the issue i have is that we have a co-payment which we have to meet once/year. so it is most important the workcover face their responsibility.
teacher's medical plan carries on through retirement
nice, flosey...and nurses miss out again. we are always the last to benefit from anything. the police, the fire-fighters, the ambulace medics all get bonuses. but not the nurses. and they have the cheek to call us militant....lol
wow, a most deserving group!
flosey, nurses, because of their natures, are always put down, and treated poorly. that's why workcover is so surprised that i am fighting back.
i am hoping i am going to show other nurses that they can fight back. we are a valuable resource in the community.
well, stand your ground, Rose and good luck
perhaps they need to find out the hard way, but don't believe the nurses would strike!
*giggle* i am going to make sure that the doctors tomorrow examine my knee properly. they ne4 to know that i am not on the take...i just want enough money to be able to live .
wouldn't the doctors defend you? where would they be without you
funny you should mention that flosey. i was among the first group of nurses who went on strike here in australia...how did we strike? we refused to wash the cups from supper after it was served to the patients.
wow, stand your ground, Rose
wash cups!!!! don't you have kitchen staff? and dishwashing machines?
some would, some won't. the younger on4 recognise how nurses help them to achieve their results.
lolol...not in the 70's flosey. they were in the kitchens in the basement of the hospital. but not on each floor of the hospital.
ah, but now?
flosey, even now...if nurses worked 'to rule' most hospitals would fall apart at the seams.
oh I can believe it, rose
i mean...how do you refuse a patient a cup of tea? if that is going to bring that person relief.
for sure, but still the dishes should just be sent to the kitchen
they are, nowadays, flosey. but what about the spills on the floors? do we wait until environmental services arrive to deal with it? or do we mop/sweep in order to reduce risk to our fellow nurses?
and if there are no clean cups? guess who washes them?
i am talking about in the small hours...
but still, can't they be held in the kitchen until that staff come in?
do you have unions?
maybe...but the company would have to supply more cups etc so the wards don't run out of clean crockery.
oh, yes, flosey. the union is the reason why i can have such a great lawyer to fight what is right.
then, flosey. nurses would have to call in the union rep. and that endangers their position.
wow, but the union rep should support you through any disputes??
if you get the reputation of calling in the rep each time there is a dispute...
flosey, they do...but the companies are so 'hard-core'.
ah, are they still fairly new?
the union reps are quite dedicated to helping the members. it is only recently that nurses have had the courage to call the rep in.
Some of the unions played tough way back - but at the same time, some employers were not reasonable
before I was married, I worked at the Labour Relations Board, it was interesting, Unions played tough (and had to) some employers weren't playing fair
I wasn't in favour of Unions until I saw a bit of what went on
yeah, it's an eye opener, isn't it flosey?
yeah, it's an eye opener, isn't it flosey?
that's going WAY back though, now unions are more readily accepted by companies and there's more co-operation
nasty hiccup...
lol
when I accepted my last job, it was non union but, in order to get along with the people I worked with, I joined it - I was only there 13 years before retiring and now I get a (small) pension from that, which comes in quite handy
something I wouldn't have otherwise had
interesting, flosey.
do you have government pensions when you retire?
yes flosey, we do. at the moment i am on a disability pension.
good, not the disability part!! but at least remuneration
in nearly 2 years i qualify for the aged pension.
I retired at 60 with pension then the OAP and Canada PP kick in at 65
because of our assets...i don't receive very much, but i do have access to lower doctor's fees etc. and so does don.
they call it Old Age pension - not very flattering but who cares eh!
*giggle* after years of paying taxes...why shouldn't we benefit?
we pay into a medical plan that covers doctors and hospitalization
flosey....you have been chatting so much...how are you doing with the grid?
2 words to go
yay you, flosey
on5 and 6
lol rose, I'm tired, it's easier to chat than look for words
on5, the vegetable which makes you cry?
add the sometimes vowel for on6
thanks for that
and that
and that is FW
tyty
WTG FLOSEY!!!
and you, Rose, are you finished?
FINISHED HOURS AGO...I JUST LOVE CHATTING.
lol, me too
ugh...sorry...left the caps lock on
well you were shouting from quite a distance, hahaha
wow, it's past 1:30 am!!!
*giggling* of course i was...
sweet dreams, dearest flosey. xoxox
I had better get to bed, enjoyed our chat
and enjoy the rest of your day, Rose
goodnight now, with hugs
nearly bedtime....catch you tomorrow.
xoxox....sprite, lizlin, ruby. see you tomorrow.
good morning all... or rather good afternoon... sorry to be so late...
phantom: wednesday
good morning everyone:) frosty here this morning! tis minus 19 and the wind chill is driving it down to minus 26...brrr
good morning dear crossy :) Brrrrrr
((sprite))
Nice to see you, sprite. usually you are finishing the grid just as i am coming on:)
yeah I was very late today. Bad night and all that jazz. How are you and Mrs Elegant?
We are both fine. Fighting the good fight and all that rot. Classes are going well, son is still eating me out of house and home, but all is as it should be in life. just need a nice lottery win;)
you and me both, crossy, you and me both, lol. Great to hear you are fine. Still no chance of son moving out?
I think I will dance through the pearly gates first before that happens:(
ugh :(
I just think of myself as raising a perpetual 15 year old and it is not so bad:/
*hugs* Sounds rotten to me. Mine is 18 and I am already tired of him acting as a 15yo.
mine is 21 years old next month
xenon
oops, sorry
not awake yet
*giggles* wake up, little crossy, wake up!
I just finished my first cuppa for the day and I feel the cobwebs clearing. Slowwwwly.
06:45 am here and time to put the kettle on brb
looks like the babble gods had some spare Ts and Ds lying around and decided to use them all at once. That right bottom corner is crazy.
I am handing cross a blanket
hi sue! Good idea. Poor guy sure can use one.
has anyone heard of the University of the People? You can get you BA for free. Well not totally free, the classes are free, but at the end of each 8 week class, you take you test at a testing center and it costs $100.
I am told they are accredited
never heard of it, but I probablyu wouldn't. Sounds like it is USA only? But not a bad deal.
no sprite, it is online.
wow. Sounds good.
business administration or computer science?
Compter Science
It says it is DECT & a US accreditation commission
I have not heard of this online school. research it well before you hand over a dime, sue:)
interesting
I am doing my education the hard way. there is usually no easy fix. i will have spent 2 years just getting the prerequisites needed for the University classes I wish to take
you bet. My boss at the college is looking into it for me. If it is so, they will pay for my testing so I can be faculty
woooot sue, that would be great. Good luck!
Ahh, cool. If your work will pay, then go for it!!
me too cross. I now have my Networking technologies and IS security AAS.
when i starting playing on here i had started my college journey
I plan, or hope to get into some journalism or copy editing on a pert-time basis
now at 50, i am going for the BA so i can teach from my camper on the road.
Crossy is also the big 5-0:)
50 is the new 30:)
all go with that
My body sometimes argues that point, however...
my body is good, my brain is fighting with me.
silly boddy

now i know what they me by "i have forgotten more then i know"

hehehe so sweet
I just call it specialization:) Pretty soon I shall be an expert on almost nothing at all:)

has anyone heard of the "jelly fish" extract for brain clarity
lol
not me
do any of the words end with not night?
i am seeing nothing
no4 that I found so far
mmm.. on an annoying note seems that I.S.I.S has specifically mention Canada along with U.S.A, France and Israel. We are in good company... "Je suis Charlie"
Je suis Charlie!
can i have a clue for the lone o and the right column e please
fireflies. Bye crossy *hugs* And bye sue too... have a blessed day and a peaceful night all.

i am jammed at 51
words that is, not just my up coming age
Good morning all.
morning sukee
Glad the X word is one that is used often :)
howdy, sukee
Hi sue and crossy.
bonjour
Morning ruby
I think "Nous sommes tous Charlie"
Brr temperature has dropped in last two hours from minus 17 to minus 21:(
{{sukee and crossy}} (and it's even Tuesday)
I've just gotten off the phone with the tree man who spent the day here yesterday and charged 00 get ready for this 00 more than 600 euros!!!
I am sending warm thoughts your way cross. I have to leave but i will be back.
I was horrified and told him so, but I couldn't really do anything since his mother is a friend of mine.
hi and bye due
600+ euros
((Ruby Tuesday!!))
It was highway robberty or whatever is the Fr equivalent!
600 Euros??!! that is about $1000.00... that better be a whole lot of tree removal service you are getting, ruby!
"autoroute volage?"
He pruned the cherry tree and the roses, but not worth that much money and since I didn't get an estimate first, I was stuck
Ugh:(
I feel like a jerk
I hate vultures who take advantage of others:((
It is very difficult because he is so nice and my friend's son, but still.....
As a child of a dear friend of yours, his thievery is even more bothersome.
the morals of the story: 1) get estimates and 2) don't hire children of friends
Wish I was there for you ,Ruby. I would kick his derriere with my size 12 boots!
The good/bad news is that my husband is so out of it that he isn't aware
Ruby you should spread the word about how he ripped you off to everyone you know. Even people you don't know.
What's ironic is that my wealthy neighbor got his name from me and he's done a ton of work for them. They are so rich they probably don't even look at the invoices
I am distressed and feel impotent
(can a woman be impotent?|)
You can alleviate that feeling by warning others of this man's thievery.
But give him one chance to offer a more reasonable bill first
I'm afraid this bill is cast in stone but he said "new time, half in cash and half by check" so \I can save the 20% tax
next*
Say something like " I just looked at your bill and I am sure you did not mean to, but it seems you have made an error in your billing" or something like that. Give him a opening so he can alter the bill, but still save face.
I tried that on the phone. It didn't work
mm, he is doing that so he can avoid reporting income. that is for his benifit and not yours ruby
I hope he tells his mother as she'll have a fit!
Beware of those who demand a cash payment. they like to fly under the radar
I think YOU should tell his mother. If she finds out how her son misused a friend of hers, she WILL have a fit.
and good morning frinds
friends
I agree with trif. Start the ball rolling with his mum and see what happens
Morning trif
and good morning trif. That's probably a 50-50 risk of losing her as a friend
He is her "fils cheri"
If she is a sort to allow her son to fleece an old friend, then i think you should reasses the friendship
I think you're both right
it is indeed, but look at it this way - perhaps she doesn't know what her son does - perhaps this would be a good eye opener to her. If he is running around fleecing people SHE refers him to, she should know!
and when you say old, 70 ISN'T the new 50! lol
Once again i think trif is correct in this
put yourself in her well-heeled shoes - if your son did such a thing, would you want to know?
yes, her reputation is getting damaged by recomending a son who does business in this way
but I complete sympathize, ruby - what a tough spot you are in! I don't envy you at all
absolutely! But I think that, intrinsically, North Americans are more honest than the French
ok , I must go warm up the jeep and head to class. tc all and happy babbling! (((ruby)))
Have a good day.
drive as fast as you possibly can, crossy
I know that's a racist thing to say, but with my experience here, "thumbs on the scale butchers" and such, I think it's the truth
{{crossy}} watch out for black ice!
I had a lovely interaction yesterday - ran into an old school friend who has become somewhat of a celebrity, and was delighted to find he had not changed at all. We talked about our kids, what he is doing now, etc. - a true gentleman.
that's very nice, trif
how many years had it been?
it was. school was a tough go for him - people were very cruel, as he was "full figured" as a child....
I haven't seen him in at least ten years.
and he's no longer a "chub"?
he really has done well for himself. People magazine named him one of their "most beautiful people" a few years back, and I was so chuffed for him.
Nope. Fit and handsome.
Now we are curious who it is :)
I don't think people outside of the states would know him, really. He's not an actor, per se. Hosts a series of nature shows
very, very nice man
Off to make some breakfast, take care all
half and time to read the paper
bye for now
okay - I can't budge the o in the far left column. a count please?
On5/14
thanks river
And good morning
good morning and good bye. When ever there's a great word in the grid (not today), I think of you, river
ha! Got it! nbt, just as the bell rings....see you third period friends~!
Bye trif
Nothing jumps out at me yet
Good day to all. Minus 2 F here. Brrr. Now o-o or Crossy will tell us it is minus 20 where they are.
Hi scrabbs
Crossy already left for school
I have not been outside in days so have not appreciated the cold
How are you doing?
I am doing good. A bit concerned about this lump I have. Seeing the Doc later today. Therapists were very happy with my progress yesterday. Had both OT and PT here.
My only frustration is I cant put my left sock on
Im supposed to wear those comprssion socks during the day still. I cant do it. PT put it on yesterday.
Today I have to wait for my son to get home from school as I need to shower
I had to go see a patient.Where is the lump? Over the incision?
Above incision
Probably a hematoma, maybe even getting calcified. When is next doc appt?
He wants to look at it today
It doesnt hurt but is getting bigger
Therapist was stumped when he looked at it. He did my dressing change yesterday.
Therapist called my surgeon who in turn called me to come in for a look see.
If not red or tender then infection is not likely.
No redness and no hurt. But egg size now
That's large.
I am now stuck with 30 to go. Time for breakfast. Have a great day
Bye River, take care.
Hi Scabs
Hi Cousin! Leslie is coming here Fri-Thurs, so we will visit you and your Dad. How is Dad holding up?
OK, Rick was here Sunday. GAve him flu and pnemonia shots. Not eating much.
Depressed?
Is he getting vitamin D--5000 units daily for the winter.
I think my mOm'sdeath is catching up with him. Talking about death more. he gets 1000 units daily should I kick it up to 5000
It is so tough to be old and to lose one's spouse.
I hear you through your Mom for a loop when you changed your shopping day!
As of last week I now work here at the Indian Reservation on Tuesday mornings instead of Monday, so I will shop on Mondays, unless I decide to keep Monday for me and shop for her Tuesday afternoon.
I took care of her yesterday then visited Tori and the boys til almost 6:30. I waited til rush hour ended.
don't make too many changes, she already has glenns elbow to worry about. how's ryder and tori doing
Ryder is doing great--breast feeding well, easy-going for now. She feels great and is very happy. Jaxson is cute with the baby--kissing him, giving him the pacifier. Jaxie will start speech therapy today.
My mother called me ad midnight on Friday night to tell me about Glenn's sore elbow and what will they do......she was frantic.
well I got to start my day of waiting on my father.
Do you need any clues I am finished
Of course, that is your purpose in his life.
the one and only purpose
No, thanks. I will keep searching. I do not have Babble Expert here.
OK have a good day
I am glad your purpose is clear in your mind. Same for me, I am to serve the Aurora and Glenn Foundation.
the family genes are strong
Those genes are demanding!
yes they are.
Leslie and I will see you soon.
ciao
Ciao
hello dear friends.
morning, Trif
Hi Trif and Annie.
Hi Scrabbs
I am finding this grid to be tricky and am teasing out words slowly.
Same here
I agree scrabbler and annie - v tricky business
hi everyone..
hi aloy
sorry - auto correct
Hi Kiddies
howdy hego and Trif
Hi Aloy and hego :)
knock wood - the internet is working for me this morning, so I'm babbling post haste
Poor Aloy
Are there words in here?
it could be worse, hego.. the guy who set this up has never sent us a bill!
that helps. :)
a few, hego
yup.. and we even reminded him!
thanks Annie :)
I wouldn't worry about it Aloy.
Back again. Hi Aloy and Hego
Anyone have the right-side E words?
Scrabs, I see you baby sat yesterday.
I dont have that E
Hi Scrabbs - et4 + pl
I did and it was easy because he slept.
I think that's et5 & 6
et5.18 and pl, I can't count
I always miss that word. TY.
the e is the needle case Alt sp
I found it, another way of spelling sewing box
not sewing box, needle case, sorry
Scrabs, he's a beauty.
seyne
Don't bother trying that word.
uh oh
Tomorrow I am going to go visit a friend who is dying (in his 40's). Does anyone have any advice on how you act in that situation?
:)
Newborns' faces change so much in the first 1-2 wks. He lost the puffiness acquired from birth, so he looks different.
so sorry to hear that, jj
Just be yourself JJ
scrabbs would know
You let him lead it joseph. Talk about what he needs to talk about.
Be there, listen, cry, hold hands, ask how you can help, what they need done. It sucks.
good advice
so sorry, joseph.. being there is important,
Ask what you can do now and in the future.
Any children?
Hello everyone
Hi Car
hi car
Hello Car
Hi car. :)
{{group}}
Yes, he has two young children. And his wife also has cancer and her prognosis is uncertain.
{{JJ}}
((()))
JJ that's terrible!
Oh, man, sometimes life is SO tragic.
How awful and heartbreaking
Ask him if he would like to write letters for his kids and wife, to read in the future, e.g. at future birthdays and milestones (graduations, etc). It will allow him to leave messages to his family after he is gone.
Or even videos. He can live on through letters and videos. As hard as it will be to create these he can continue his presence in their lives these ways.
Yeah, he's so close to the end I'm not sure if he has strength for that. Maybe he already did it.
What kind of cancer does he have? And his wife? If you don't mind me asking.
Although I read someone say that their parent left them milestone letters, and it makes every happy event sad. For graduation, wedding, to always have to bring up the grief.
He has kidney cancer. His wife has breast cancer. Both metastasized.
The grief is always there. The absence of that person is more palpable at major events.
Awful, just awful. I am so sad to hear this.
agreed
Yeah it's more awful than I can really process. It's just overwhelming.
I agree with the comment of letting them set the tone of the conversation. People I have visited with sometimes were just tired of being "sad". Often times we would talk about silly things and just laugh.
The Irish poet John O'Donohue use to minister to the dying. He said it is an honor to be there to help someone move on to the next good place. Thinking of it as an honor might change your perspective.
*used to
Thanks that sounds like good advice, all of those ideas.
Car, you're right. I have spent a lot of time with the dying .
People mean well, but come and cry and talk about how horrible it is. It is exhausting for the sick one.Let the person decide what they want to talk about.
They are often relieved when their family leaves and they can just chat normally with a neutral person.
As hard as it is, it is a spiritual privilege, in my mind, to be with someone as they pass on. A deeply human experience.
Sage advice Car. It's really not at all about how YOU are feeling.
true Scrabs.
I have not been there as a human has passed, but with my animals. As I shared with you, the gentleman who left us his parrot...his last breath was after he was told his parrot would be with me.
An undescribable honor.
I've only been around old people dying before - grandparents - which is not as tragic.
And now you honor that man by caring for his beloved parrot.
true JJ
JJ...are you a prayerful person?
Sometimes.
I only ask as I would lift it up and let spirit/higher power/etc guide you in providing this person with what they need today.
Is Lickety down today?
Yeah.
Sometimes not have a script or plan is the best way to go.
nm
Just be present. Ask if he wants you to hold his hand. Some people like touch, others do not.
hego, I have it.. np.. you?
yes Aloy
ok, good
Scrabs is right. Just be there.
Lickety is up
JJ, I admire you for going. Many people wouldn't.
And that's the problem Car.

Hey everybody. Molly - guess what? Aaron Paul has been spotted in Trim, which is approx 5 minutes away from me. I'm struggling NOT to go in search of him... LOL
who is Aaron Paul?
Every good boy does fine molly. lol
Breaking bad co-star
He was one of the main characters in Breaking Bad, Ru. A TV series beloved of Molls and me!
No, it's actually favor...or favour if you are the type that likes to add extra vowels to words
Ru, I think you would really like Breaking Bad. If you are into dark stuff, it's one of the darkest TV series ever.
I'm not sure I'm into dark stuff lately
Soodle, drop whatever you are doing and go find Aaaron Paul. From what I have seen of him, he is one of the funnest people on the planet. And he is exceptionally nice to fans.
good morning :-)
Begging your Ruru's pardon. I just read a long conversation between you and Une lately about liking dark stuff.
those movies were not really dark..
Anyway, Breaking Bad is one of the most acclaimed television series ever. Many people say it was the best. Dark, yeah. But very well acted and the story is a thrill ride.
I'm very tempted, Molly. He is in a pub, drinking Guinness! But, I know darn well that if I walked in, I'd probably just stand gaping at him and looking foolish. I'm sadly a bit long in the tooth for the whole swooning fan thing. :-(
I have a lot of friends who watch it and tell me to watch it. I just don't do much TV except about dinner time
I've never seen a lead character get taken from loving, ordinary family man to dark drug lord in the way Breaking Bad spun the tale.
My son loved that series but it was only shown in a dubbed version here
Don't be a swooning fan Soodle. Just have a beer with the guy. Dear God, it's a story for the grandkids.
Soodles, how did you hear that he was in a local pub? Is that the Trim Guinnessline?
Anyone who wants to see Breaking Bad, it is so worth buying the box set or watching it on Netflix or however you pay to view.
Amazon has it in digital and DVD format
yeah.. don't try to sit on his lap until he's had a few Soodle
LOL Rubes - how I know everything round here -Facebook. My newsfeed is agog! And no, Ru, I won't. I don't want to Break Aaron. (Ha ha... see what I did there?? chortle...).
Ah, what used to be the gossip fence, or the wash line gossip swap is now all on Facebook.
d
yes ru Breaking Bad is truly worthwhile. Once I started it I watched nonstop for three days. So easy on Netflix.
oh.
I really haven't lucked out on series.. since twin peaks
i get that.. but twin peaks and breaking bad do meet on my venn diagram
what's a venn diagram?
think way, way back to high school math. Three intersecting circles (maybe kinda sorta like the olympic symbol.. but all three intersect with one area in the center that includes parts of all three)
okay.. let me know when you have the visual..
ok
so, the parts that include more than one circle... could be large, could be small....
the part that includes a lot of each would mean high correlation.... my inept way of saying that if you liked one, there's a decent probabillity that you'd like the other.
and high school math lesson is over for the day i need to go do my homework now
Oh jeez, this is like when my kid tried to explain binomial expansion. There is no room in my brain for such things.
i'm sure i didn't explain it clearly... I could do it in two seconds with a pencil and paper
doesn't one of the photo editing programs have a symbol something like that?
quite possibly, but I am thoroughly ignorant of photo editing programs
i know I've seen something somewhere -- the largest segments in yellow , blue and red
i just thought everyone got them in math class at some point.. I certainly was not a math whiz and never went beyond the absolute minimum requirement for college admission
Dorens - what other TV series fit into the diagram? I'm looking for something to fill in the time till House of Cards comes back.
i'm not a huge tv watcher soodle, but orange is the new black is fun (and somewhat dark). and lilyhammer (which no one has ever heard of) just cracks me up. both are netflix series.
Ah! I absolutely LOVED Lillyhammer. The first season of OITNB, I loved, but I thought it declined a bit in the second series.
i actually never finished the second season. but you are the FIRST person i've met who'd even heard of it!
(i mean heard of lilyhammer)
Steven Van Zandt is magnificant in Lillyhammer. I loved it.
The West Wing is probably one of the best American based dramas ever on television.
so i actually Do have homework... Training to be court advocate for cases where judge needs to decide about placement for kids who've been neglected/abused.. There is reading for tomorrow's training session and I need to do it now. Happy babbling everyone
Bye Dorens. :-)
w
And W to you too, Nan :-)
lol - don't know how that got there!
*!* ta da *!*
loved west wing too, molly -- have you been watching madam secretary?
Must chime in and recommend "MI 5" which is an old BBC series.
keep nodding off -- time for a nap, I guess -- bac at the flip
that was a good one too, chris
I'm starting to think that everyone who plays this game is a member of the BBC fan club.
<--watched Lillyhammer
favorites: Lillyhammer, Luther, MI-5, Tunnel (talk about dark!) and many others
Hi Ruby!
All they are talking about tonight on BBC is tomorrow's issue of Chharlie. I wonder if it will be hard to buy multiple copies
to send to friends and relatives
I think it may be.
{{hego}}
((Ruby))
They are printing 3 million copies whereas they normally print 60,000
We heard.
and how about Ray Donovan?
Does anybody else like that program?
I've heard that they're going to do a 3rd season
Ihave no idea Ruby
It's nice to see that another country responds to terrorism in the same way that America did.
Ray Donovan is very dark and profane and interesting
And Francois Hollande was really special through this tragedy, much better than I ever expected
Bonsoir
good afternoon everyone:)
Many countries around the world are responding to the terrorist threat as the U.S is... the only difference is we do not have the same firepower:)
Countries will have to unite, despite differences and eliminate this global threat
Don't forget the original "House of Cards" from the BBC
err.. ok I will try not to forget... though I have never seen the show
I caught it on Netflix before I saw the US version (which is quite good also)
I stream Netflix, I shall have to give it a go.
Do it quickly tho-I noticed that it only available until 2/1.....as is the 8 season set of Dr. Who and Torchwood (which I am never going to be able to binge watch by then)
Responding to terrorism, with the solidarity of the people, has nothing to do with firepower.
ruby, i see we have the same taste in tv shows -- well-written dark characters :-)
aahhh we have lickety now -- woohoo!
I'm not sure what is going on with some folks. Lickety has been up all day.
kept getting error messages this morning
Good evening

Well, fireworks and time for me to stop. Nice to see folks on the chog but I didn't chat much today. Murphy's leg is doing well as xrays showed today so we are pretty happy about that. Four more weeks of restricted movement (only outside for bathroom breaks.) Then xrays, and then perhaps leash walking!!
congrats stidg

we're good! Survived a houseful at Christmas, where I think miss2bit got every bit of Frozen merchandise that exists :-)
new cousin (my wife's brother's first) on the way in June
Of course she did. It must be so much fun now. My kids are young adults and we still have fun with presents.
Yay.....cousin fun coming to the future
yes. She had a blast at Christmas in 2013, but this year she really got into the "run up" anticipation for the first time
Makes me smile....sort of miss those days
What am I saying.....my kids still have that "run up" anticipation at 18 and 21
I enjoyed it immensely. Hoping for at least a few more years before we have to change gears on the Santa magic.
The santa magic lasts forever
How old is she now?
well yes, but it phases
I'm sure I'll enjoy each phase
