don and i are both sitting here weeping. on antiques roadshow they found the grave of a lady's brother, killed during WWI. she didn't know where he was buried. it was so moving.
*hugs*
it gave her such closure. and the family had lost her father's VC. they presented her with another one, worth 1/4 million pounds. such amazing people.

Yes, our snowstorm was supposed to start at 0700 but it hasn't started yet. Soon though.
hasnt started here yet either scrab... i think its teasing us..
nope, haven't really gotten it together this year - the lake we usually fish is pretty much dead (due to a blue green algae) and it's a pain to scout out another (and if we did, it would be a much longer drive)
I need to go do some chores.....have a great day everyone and GO PATS!

Im loath to look at the weather report..have an appt for Bobby at the dermatologist's office..hope I can get there
congrats, bubba!!
tertiare woke me in the middle of the night, fevered, hyperventilating and hysterical. Said she was having a panic attack because something was "really really wrong" and wanted me to drive her to the ER immediately. I didn't. It took about 20 minutes, but I calmed her down, gave her some nyquil to basically just knock her out, and 5 minutes later she was out cold. She does have a fever, but that's all. She does have a new friend she has made that is a huge drama queen, and went to the ER last week for a panic attack. Is the power of suggestion so powerful amongst teenage girls, or did I miss something? I have checked on her several times this morning - she continues to sleep peacefully, and it not remotely as feverish as in the middle of the night. What the hell?
Good work, Bubba.
Trif, she may have felt warm because of being panicky and revved up. Yes, teenage girls are very emotional and dramatic, and susceptible to "hysteria."
Trif...power of suggestion...teenage girls...town close to you...Salem...
Google "mass hysteria."
Thank you. I figured she scared herself
I'm going to go check on her again....
There was a large "outbreak" in a town near here (Batavia) a few years ago. Finally 2 neurologists determined that there was no infection or poisoning, it was mass hysteria.
I would guess when it's teenage girls, the mass influx of hormones has something to do with it
Adolescents are emotional creatures, but girls are overt with their drama and hysteria.
ty Annie for the la7.. have been off hunting it to no avail
Well, we are all emotional creatures, but teens are like toddlers all over again: egocentric, emotionally labile, impulsive.
Good description. They are like overgrown toddlers.
"Toddlers on wheels" when they start driving. Scary!

hi Judi
Judi, Judi, Judi.
Nice trip, kje.
have all day mtg here tuesday, we just came in early for the weekend to party
are you hosting a SB party, judi?
Of course, kje, you are a party animal.
No, KJE. I think we're going to go to a local micro-brewery for a pig roast. Oh, and some football, of course.
well, in small spurts... we were out til 1230 and I'm was wiped out! can't keep up with those youngsters ; )
pig roast... yum
good morning
gm
Hiya, hego honey!
hi hego!
Hi Judi!
my last word is really hiding from me, the ne7
Are you ready for some football?
Yep! Hope it's a good game and not a blow out.
will look, aloy
will put my Browns shirt on and dream
I think it will be a good game.
poor Aloy
You could change the contrast on your TV until everyone looks orange and brown, Aloy.
haha
ne7...prefix for new + misspelling of very, very small
The snow is just starting. We should have up to 14 inches by tomorrow afternoon. Yay!
May all the snow fall only where it is wanted. Amen.
ty
it is snowing here too, scrab, but I think they only expect 6 inches
ty Molly, looking
oh, that Scrabs!
ty Molly
Why does someone always have to say the "S" word?
Hard to avoid lately Judi
Lake Erie iced over a few weeks ago so it isn't a snow-making machine anymore.
Judi, believe it or not, there are people who actually like being freezing cold and driving in messy, dangerous conditions.
yay, got it.. fw thanks to Molly
YAY!!! Aloy!!
Well, it's a good thing that global warming doesn't freeze over all the great lakes. *insert eye roll here*
Yes. I have heard of these snow lovers.
well, I actually have to do some work (eek) today, so off I go.. happy SB watching to all who enjoy, may your favorite team win.. I'm rooting for the Browns of course.. ciao
*waving hand* Me, me, I love winter. I will go to the park after lunch and cross-country ski in the woods.
Bye, Aloy.
ciao Aloy
*hibernates in warm cave with hot coffee*
Move over Judi.
Judi, I will snowshoe to your cave to give you beverages and food.
Bless you, Scrabbs. You obviously have ye4 blood.
I am an outdoorswoman. Once, while needing a break from XC-skiing, I dug a hole into the snow in the woods and started a fire. My friend and I had lunch next to the fire.
Didn't the roof melt?
Have you ever read "Woodswoman" by Anne LaBastille, Scrabbs?
Yes, so inspiring!
One of my all time fave books. Now that was a tough chick!
makes note of book
She is my ultimate inspiration and I think of her so often.
Is it a true story?
So, have you built your own cabin in the woods and adopted a wild fox yet?
Yes, Hego. It is a wonderful story.
No no the rabbits will not like that!
Yes, she lived alone in a cabin next to a lake in the Adirondack Mtns. I would love to do that, if I felt safe.
Hmm. Good point.
Maybe a fox and the rabbits could be buddies.
But Scrabs, you have the best of both worlds!
I live in the woods and next to a huge park with trails for skiing, hiking, and biking. I wish there was a lake here so I drive somewhere to kayak.
Off to buy food. Later!
Sounds similar to where we live. There is a big pond down the road, but it is on private property. Probably not big enough to kayak on. But, you could snowshoe on it and fall through the ice!
Can anyone clue the an7 please
Sorry meant la 7 please
Place where you bowl + Anchors a....
Thanks Molly xx
Ha, I did fall through the ice recently when snowshoeing over a shallow creek.
Yes. I remember. Best not to make a habit of that.
My sister was convulsing with laughter. Fortunately we were 20 minutes away from the lodge and just my foot was wet.
So glad my grocery shopping is done. I don't have to be out there with the last minute Superbowl yahoos.
hy?
The supermarkets will be insane for the next several hours. And pizzerias will have their busiest day of the year.
The African animal, with an extra vowel, kje.
Let us all remember the chickens who gave up their wings for this day.
ty
Amen Judi. Bless the fowl.
Does anyone here wathc Game of Thrones?
i haven't seen past the 2nd season but have read all the books
I went with my son to see the last two episodes of last season at the IMAX theater. Now I want to see each episode on IMAX lol
i've heard the new season has some significant departures from the books, so i'm curious, but having no tv and limited time makes it much harder to keep up
yay, halfway!
that should make up for not finishing yesterday as I had too many events on my plate
Name that proper noun: Former president.
just saw that one myself judi
Still looking.
Tricky dick.a
Aha, TY, Ruru.
Ding! Ding! Ding! Ru wins a recording device.
just be careful how you store the tapes, ru

And all the vegetarians weeping
bye scrabs
I guess vegetarians are emotional
Instead of boohoo ..do they whimper:tofooo. Tofooo
hee hee hee.
Who thinks of the poor vegetables? They too must sacrifice their lives so that we may eat.
Lettuce take a moment of silence
True, Molly. Often yanked up by their very roots. Wrenched from the ground and thrown into a pot to boil. Can no one hear the screams of the carrots?
Peas on Earth. Good will toward veggies.
Often skinned and peeled too judi
Are the carrots still screaming Clarice?
they crunch so loud when i chew them i can't hear the screams
just the way i like it
Y'all watch out for Pip. She's like the Dexter of Babble.
.... the victim had marks consistent with a potato masher...
and carrot juice runs red like blood down my chin...
If they did the presidential veggie pardon at thanksgiving..obama would be torn
okay orange, but close enough
Oh, no question, he would pardon a turnip. Kindred soul and all that.
Pffth. Michelle would throw herself across the rows of the White House garden, screaming "save my babies!"
i have mounds of laundry to do and am dreading going out to the laundromat. what i wouldn't do for in-building laundry
Clue for the 2nd To7, please?
So Ru, how many points do you think the Patriots will rack up with their deflated footballs?
like someone who smuggles themselves onto a ship, but without the s
That seems to be the clue of the day for the to7
it was the first thing i saw when i logged in this am, and it was so nice and easy for me
Ty, pip.
De6?
phantom denial keeps messing with my head
Denali. Damn proper nouns!

Oops. Just found it. Just need the de6/33 for the big finish.

De + vowel + looking a little pale.

drat, now i have no excuse but to tackle my chores for the day
not me. i'm going out while the goingi s good.
i did all my going out yesterday, had a lovely girls' night
yu arebrave! it was brutal here,iwasoutfro6to 8
today it's dishes and laundry and cleaning and homework
going swingdancing to a live orchestra. thensnugging in for the night.
Dishes and laundry and cleaning...oh my!
it was chilly, especially the part on my bike, but it was 2 friends i rarely see and another who is a huge Dolly Parton fan - we meant to go to a Dolly Parton birthday show, but it ended up being sold out
dishes and laundry and cleaning...oh hell! :D
swing dancing sounds fantastic, i miss doing that
Sadly, those are every day events for me.
pippingeek: noticed you were an ophthalmic tech, me too! love working with the eyes. sorry, that was my crazy jump in of the day!
laundry every day? although i like doing laundry
I have no interest in letting laundry pile up until there are loads and loads of it to do.
it's interesting stuff, especially in glaucoma which is what our practice is, but i wish the practice were run a bit better
it 'sonly cupleof times per week in a small household.
it's always something different. I do general ophthalmology so it's a new story everyday. are you certified?
if i had laundry in the house i would do it way more frequently. i may buy a small washer/dryer when i move to chicago to make life easier and to keep me from having to venture out into the tundra just for that
having seen which way the wind is blowing, it is time to get ready to go. happy babbling to those who are.
pip, have you heard then?
not certified, just trained on the job- doing it to get clinical hours to get into PA school. now I'm just waiting to hear from places!
Ugh Pip. Using the laundromat is rugged. I hope you get your small washer and dryer.
good luck! I was trained on the job but currently hold my COA and working towards my COT.
still no word, TO. should be any day now for Northwestern. boy would that be a wonderful gift
i hope so, pip. adios, peeps.
*Looks around for Easter candy*
mmm, peeps!
stale peeps
I've never understood the appeal of Peeps. Why not just sit down with the sugar bowl and a spoon?
but stale marshmallow is a thing of wonder
besides, if you don't like it, that leaves more for ru and me
Go for it kids
hello, babblers. (ru, if you're still here, my vet called me right back yesterday. although approved in canada, apoquel hasn't been distributed yet. he's going to call his rep tomorrow and see if he can get a supply. also, they stock the canin hp and he's putting bax back on antibiotics tomorrow. has also asked for photographs to keep a running comparison of his skin problems)
hi welki!
getting ready to run off to be productive or some nonsense, but welcome and enjoy the grid!
hi and bye then, pip
hi welki
I hope it helps you
it did help my dog.. but you have to watch their immune response
it did knock Dylan's itchiness back by 2/3's
i'll find out more tomorrow when i stop by to pick up the food and other meds. i was surprised that he called me back on a saturday afternoon
although i shouldn't have been surprised. this vet took one of my dogs home with him when he'd had a bad reaction to some surgery - had him sleeping by the side of his bed so he could watch/hear him
hi all clue for the la7/52 pls?
sounds like a good vet
Huh? any other clue
la 7 is a compound
my comment was for welki
*Looks for Mitch Miller's bouncing ball*

ty -- couldn't count the points! -- ducking the fish
nan, silly word, no fish coming your way
*Beans Nan with pickled herring
Molly has no heart :)
Yes, no soul either according to some people here
did the devil collect it?
Done. Going to make chili. Be back later.
I made the football chili last night. I like to let it sit for a while.
did you cut the ball up right away or did you steam it first?
you don't cut it up, ruru. it's like bay leaves, you pull it out before serving, it's just for flavor.
Oh tut, tut. I am hip to the froo-froo new cooking. I braised it.
But of course, since it's for a Patriots Superbowl, I deflated it first.
does it give one deflatulence ?
I doubt it, considering certain gasbags.
lol
what a black mark on the NFL with all that mess.. cheaters
Yeah, and if it was my team, I wouldn't be proud of them
I do hope they get penalized if they did do it purposely
It won't matter though. They cheated their way to the Superbowl.
And really? 11 balls? How was that not purposely?
a batch of leakers? :D
*hopes both teams lose*
to 7 please?
*hope it's not another fish!
n - found it
whew - it was a fish too!
No comment from me Nan, I'm heartless : P
*sends tinman to Molly*
ne 7 please?
One game does not make a super bowl contender...so how did the Pats win all the other games and years of continued success. To be fair in the conversaton, I had to put a plug in for the Pats. :)
Uh oh
unfortunately RKB.. it seems they've been doing it all year.. with a very low fumble percentage.. that is unheard of in the league
should we talk about the weather? --- snowy day here
♥Just because I'm presumin'♥that I could be a human♥if I only had a heart♥
Don't ntend to start a big dialing...was only making one comment. Enjoy the game eveyrone.
Nan, prefix for new, number after 9 and sometime vowel
no problem.. it will be a debate for a long time I think RKB
ty hego
Most of the Patriots fans I know are all...stick their fingers in their ears and sing LA LA LA...about the whole thing. Denial is bliss.
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help
yw
it kind of ruins the Superbowl for me to be honest.
has anyoe heard from JIll lately? Haven't seen her here for ages - hope she is OK
Oh dear, we started an adult conversation. Shame on us.
I can't belive they did this all year and no one noticed.
Rhe refs handle the balls more than anyone.
well.. some stats are now sticking out hego
superbowl ruins the day for me -- consumes just about every channel
can someone reclue la /20 please?
If you read the sports news coverage about this subject, it's all explained.
I agree Nan.
cyber its a "big deal" is the only reason its on tv everywhere
Fan, la 20 is a legal thing
la 5/20 --- pt of feiger's discipline
they should have a professional ball handler like Monica Lewinski check them before the game
There are so many things for people who don't care for football to do on Superbowl Sunday.
I agree Ruru!!
Molly where I live the restaurants are even closed.
the curling is on a the moment, but that will be over by noon and then everything is prefootball, football, and rehashed football
In Canada? I thought y'all didn't recognize football as a sport.
Where do you live Hego? I'll be watching a Netflix movie and reading.
Jersey Shore tabby
tehy have canadian football
I usually watch PBS
they
There you go Tabby. There are books, movies, plenty of cable options. Or, maybe just spending some time with loved ones.
Can't imagine the restaurants closing Hego. But when we lived in Miami and the Dolphins were in the Superbowl the streets were like a ghost town when the game was on.
it's a game of sorts -- but I wouldn't call it a sport! About as interesting as watching someone shoot objects down in a computer game
Well, Molly, hubby will be watching the game, so other options for me.
I'm more a baseball person.
cyber feiger's what>?
yes that is more interesting, hego
About the only sport I watch on TV is college basketball, both mens and womens. Once they turn pro, I lose interest.
fan, think legal
I guess you don't watch Sunday Morning, mlf
cyber sunday morning what?
I'm so-so about baseball. But I don't gripe about The World Series because I understand why it's important to baseball lovers.
It's a news magazine, mlf
cyber oh ok
i didnt used to watch college football until a few yrs ago when i discovered the oregon ducks
try it one sunday --- usually quite interesting
and the baylor bears
Feiger is a sponsor -- thus the ref. to the show
I watched high school and college football when my kids were in HS and college, but once they graduated I lost interest in those too.
i never did a 4 yr college and i dont have kids
ok -- had enough of football --- back at the flip -- hagd everyone and enjoy the game, fans.
Bye Nan.
I learned from my son that there are two kinds of "football fans". Those who are attached to a particular team (or teams) and those who really love the sport.
And yes, it's a sport. One of the most popular.
Which worries me.
It worries you that football is a popular sport?
The Roman games started out as a "sport".
Not sure I get your point. But I'll just leave all this alone now.
like the cross dragging races?
I was thinking of gladiators, but whatever. :)
I don't think they'd trust football players with swords
That will be next.
LOl
folks will love it!
they'd have a rule to kill the losing coach
That will be the biggest feature!
Crowds will go wild!
instead of a Gatorade bath.. they'd be thrown to the gators
hahaha
Hello....can I get STATS for the right column A please?

Good Afternoon, Everyone. How are you all today? Ready for the Superbowl?
heh. in that I've been abandoned for it, sure, Nef :D
LOL!, jes. This is the first time in years we won't have anyone else here for it; but that's because we've both been sick with Norovirus. (Great way to keep others at bay; lousy experience otherwise)
heh. All I've got is an ear infection, which is not contagious so doesn't keep folk off.
but Bruce went to his folks' place to watch the game, and kid went to town to visit his cousin, so I've got the place to myself and am watching the final season of Buffy.
OUCH! I hate ear infections; I think they're miserable
LOL!!
It sounds like you're set for some good girl "alone" time; that's nice
Hi une; how are you today?
I've found lots of words using the high point tile so far (but just started a bit ago); is there tons of them today?
tired -- was up at 4:00am
:-( Not sick (I hope)
have 8 words using the high point tile so far
nooo not sick :-)
watched the men's tennis final from Australia :-)
Thanks for the info, Une.
Ahh! You got up for something fun then
:-)
Was it good to watch?
great match!
Great!! Then it was worth losing sleep over! :-D
are you babbling in an igloo? weather looks VERY scary!
Nope, we have sunshine and blue skies and the temp is about 20 (F) here; kind of a nice day really.
(I guess the rest of the country is suffering though
oh ok . . . today's the third day of a rescue transport that I helped with yesterday-- no probs in TN or KY but the drivers right now are heading to Wisconsin and the pics they're posting are CRAZY
can't imagine driving in those conditions
i guess if you live there and are used to it . . .
grr. I had no idea you could change up the hy critter's spelling like that.
was news to me too jes :-)
If you can see the highway and it isn't closed (and you have a full tank, a winter emergency kit, charged cell phone, etc.) and take your time; it isn't bad. But it does require patience and courage sometimes.
in one of the pics, it looks pretty much like whiteout conditions . . . yikes!
I'll admit it: I don't like white outs. I would get off the road if I was in one these days (but when I was younger, I'd drive if necessary
la7 clue please?
combo word; for road
la4/4 + I Did It My **y
thanks :)
never thought that would be a word
There are lots of words that I think that about, Babs
indeed -- another Babble "go figure" word LOL
yep
TY for that one. Maybe that word is more British - we use it a lot down here
Really, lynxxx? I've never heard it before (but that's English language for you I guess)
how is it used relative to other ways of talking about roads?
here's a puzzle with an iphone i'm trying to solve in case someone can help. I held down button to move an app to another place and it disappeared...if I do a search for it, it will activate, but it's not showing as an icon anywhere.
2 left, both to7s
Lanes or laneways are very common here - really back alleys I guess you would call them. Laneways are 'grand' lanes really, the ones in the city are pedestrian thoroughfares - usually with small shops on either side - VERY popular for restaurant and coffee shops
oh man! commence the fishslapping.
thanks lynxxx
firewords
Yay Jes!
now see one to 7 fish, but not another
YAY, jes!!!! WTG!!!
what the cops do with it when you leave your car on the sidewalk, Babs
Topissonit
Damn it
That's mostly in Chicago
How are you today, rurur?
I am fine..just relaxing today
How are you?
taking it slow & easy today. Dh is ready for the game; I'm ready for the commercials
hello....can anyone clue de 6/33?
I don't have it but will look pen
ty!
de + vowel + fairies have a magic ***d
ty!
Kind of stupid; it's spelled with 5 or 6 letters
yes, got that....ever seen the double vowel one...
I'll be distractedly playing now; trying to figure out some of these commercials (WHY do they have to hit a guy in the groin for a pizza commercial?)
too much violence in commercials nowadays....and speeding....
I mean, that just made no sense!
nope....do you have de 5/30?...i have no patience with this grid...
no; but I'll look
ty
remove the polish
ty buggie...
Thanks, Buggie
you're welcome, this grid is horrible
(Buggie, your icon cat sure has big paws)
agreed...
He's a big cat, with big claws, but he's also a big baby
Does he have 6 toes?
no, just the normal 5, but he has a single pink pud on both front and back paws on one side
it's so cute
Really? Never heard of that before
yeah, all the rest are black it's weird but cute
what
s his name?
la 7/52??
la7...where you bowl + Anchors A...
a combo word for a road (used most in Australia I guess)
Salem (although when I got him from the pet shelter he was 3 and called moustique, or mosquito in English, which is a horrible name...)
ty molly...
and ty nef...
that was a strange name for a cat; your name is better
No definition for la7...another made up word
thanks
though he probably thinks his name is Naughty right now, that's his current nickname...
lynxxx sais they use it often there; it's kind of a fancy alley for upscale shops I believe?
They make up a lot of words in Australia...arvo...
So do we, Molly; I think that that's what we all do with language
(we make it "ours")
Something is going wrong with my computer, I need to shut down & repair my backup disk it says. BBL
can someone please clue the ne 7/36?
ne7 = baby/new + after nine + sometimes vowel
ne7...prefix for new + number + sometimes vowel
afternoon all
ty pin, molly....
I'm confused. People keep saying that prefix means baby. It is only in reference to babies when used with "natal" to mean "new babies".
i am done... :oD
(that's how I always think of it, Molly...sorry)
wtg penquis
ty....heading out....bye all!
No need to be sorry. I just don't understand the baby reference.
So neonazi is a baby nazi?
hi ru
Hiya pini
Neolith = baby rock
Keanu Reeves' character in the Matrix = Neo :)
And the neonatal unit is the baby baby unit
I thought the baby baby unit was justin bieber
I thought it was...oh...I better not...
no, he's justin annoying!
Lol
Throws a penny at molly...
Hi all
Hi liz
Hope you're enjoying your weekend
So far
I thought you threw a penalty. I was looking for a yellow flag. Oh there I go, talking about football again. : P
Hi Molly - how come you've been giving such "easy" clues recently?
Actually, I don't give easy clues. But after 4 or 5 easy clues have been given and someone is still not getting it, seems like it's time to go for the obvious.
Ah! OK. Generally see that sort of thing when I check my iPad early in the morning - not really awake then!
However, I'd take a clue for the ex 5/20 pls.
I am clueless and easy
And your point is ..... ;)
ex = former spouse + tanger*** (orange)
I don't get it Ru! There is no S in the grid!!!!
Ex5 a drug to remove a spouse
Thanks, pini
Lol
Kept trying that with a t - even though I know there's a c in that word!
Better than peta clues
:)
No score yet. Someone must have checked the game balls.
Who's playing what?
superbowl's on today
OK thanks. And do you have allegiance to either of the teams playing? Or does everyone just choose a team to support if their team isn't playing?
Final word and final clue please - ya 5/24?
I don't...but I have relatives rooting for Seattle Seahawks; otherwise, it's just a free-for-all! :)
I am hoping for sudden death for days until each team drops in their tracks.
Found it - fireworks.
that'd work for me, too, Molly!
wtg liz
Thanks.
Have a good evening all of you and if you're watching the match, enjoy :)
And may your team win!!!!!
.....hopes neither team wins
Superbowl snackies in the PB?
Buffalo chicken dip
any cookies?
I've got wings in the oven...
I try not to mix cookies with alcoholic beverages
er, frankly i'd chose the cookies it they are head to head.
unless we are miing cocktails including godiva
Now taht was a funny commercial!
i thought it was, but the ening was a bit lame
i have been underwhelmed by the ads so far.
The Budweiser ads are always the best
Have there been any of those, Molly? I've been at the sewing machine until a bit ago...
I watch all the ads on line before the game
Budweiser...puppy...Clydesdales...big winner
i saw a link on msn but it seemed as if not all of the ads are there, or they are teaser ads?
i did not see the conroversial godaddy ad but it sounded funny to me. it certainly tied in nicely with their business.
It wasn't controversial. The animal rescue people just had a hissy fit over it.
so tired, spent afternnon swing dancing to a 20 piece orchestra. you shuld have seen these kids dancing lindy weing is big on college campuses
