{{hugs}} darling sprite
*hugs rose* Hello dear friend :) Great to read you had a good night again.
col....yeah the ni5 was good, but the morning not so. still gagging and shuddering.
aw sweetie! That rotten spider :(
sprite...it was revolting...
I bet. And the place it was hiding was even worse.
i actually got the manary's cage cleaned, finally. the other stuff will just have to wait.
very good. Yes, one such a project is enough for one day, rose. One cage. Or one toilet + handbasin. Or one bed newly made. The magic word for people like us is "OR". The dangerous word is "AND".
you got that right, sprite.
lol... hey, I am almost unbeatable when it comes to theory. But practice... now that is a whole other barrel of fish...
rofl....
this grid is odd. So many biggies and I have run out of speed long before halfway.
sprite 17 words have the gh in them or on the end. just one which starts with gh.
also add ly as a suffix.
ok sweetie, thanks :)
or ily as a suffix
yeah I had spotted the endings. Not much success in connecting them though. But I will. I kind of enjoy the battle :)
hi4fly - nerdish guy who pulls his zipper up to his chin
oh, dear. roflol...put it in...
ok :)
i do so hope pugs is okay. i have emailed her twice and no response
same here. Am worried too.
if i don't hear from her by email toni5, i will phone tomorrow.
oh awesome, you have her phone number! Yes please do, and let me know.
will do, sprite
Morning rose, sprite :)
a very good morning, Anita :)
yay, it's anita. hello honey
how are you today, Anita? Any good stuff planned for today?
I'm good ty, plan 4 a me day!
oh, those are the best :)
and what does a me day feature, anita?
Everything I want to do or not !
brb
oh, i love those days...he goes out, and i lie in bed, read, doze, whatever.. which i am thinking is the shape of next wednesday.
Why wednesday?
he has put himself in to help out at church next wednesday. he has to be there at 8:30am, not home until after 1pm.
Sounds absolutely great :)
* wriggling in anticipation *
Lol
back :) Lovely, isn't it, a day all to ourselves!
wb sprite
made a mistake in the form for the shipment to Belgium, lol. You have to be a rocket scientist to fill in those forms... took me hours, no exaggeration. And gave me stress... so I misplaced a comma... 25kg in stead of 2.5 which is quite a bit more expensive!
Clim
Oops started again!
nice try but no joy, Anita
I chat then the cursor is in the wrong place
lol, anita, it happens to us all.
Senility that's what it is
ikr! Back in the days when drG made the changes, he asked for feedback and this is what I told him... that the cursor had to jump back to the Add Word box after chatting. He got angry at me and said I was the only one with that problem, and that my suggestion was counterintuitive, lol.
* explosive laughter *
Must be a man here, but can't see one. Anyone heard from wurzel lately not seen for ages?
nah, it is not us. It is how the site is built. I like lickety's browser so much. Type in one word and it goes to the puzzle list. Type in more words and it goes to the chat box. Now that is what I call web design.
hello from sickly lurking. What kid of spider, Rose?
not for a few weeks anita. zooz however was here the other ni5, much to my detriment.
hey ruby, heard you are not well. *gently hug* and lots and lots of good vibes for you.
ruby, a black house spider, AKA a false black widow spider.
aw that came out so wrong, rose! You love having zooz here, lol. He can't help it you mixed up his birthday with Caya's :D
lolol...it is so his fault...he knows my grey cells are on the verge of collapse...
hahahahaha
Do they jump?
My ears are burning!!
no jump, just sit there and look evil.
putting out the fire and hello zzoozz, back to lurking
omg ruby, stop it! It had too many legs, was too black, was too big and was SO in the wrong place! No need to add jumping to the picture.
roflol...oh my...* innocent look * hello zooz
manito
lol hi zooz! Don't mind rose, she is being so naughty
bye ruby, take care, sweetie
oops im gonna go back to lurking! much safer
i am not....
noooooo please don't, Anita, stay with us! Who cares about the occasional slip.
ty anita
later anita. enjoy honey
not, not, not, not
zooz, rose emailed me and asked why we were celebrating Caya's birthday so early, and if it was a dutch tradition maybe? Had to remind her that Caya's is on the 3rd... and yours on the 11th.
yes you are, rose. Bad rose. *giggles*
LOL bless her ((Rose))
well, i wrote zooz 11th, and it looked like 2002 11th. it's not my fault
LOL yes I can see how that mistake would look!
*giggling so much *
lol. Of course it is. You should have written in a more legible style.
feel your knees, rose... are they wet? Look around you... see any pyramids? That is what I thought... kneedeep in denial
why?? who else is going to read it?? * maniacal laughter *
as a matter of fact....my knees??
besides, describe more legible...
won't forget it now...zooz the 11th, caya the 3rd...
and added together it is valentine's day...ta daaahhh
magic, rose :)
There are a few more babblers birthdays in February but i can not think of who they are now.
ok, I am officially mad now. Transport firm called and refused to take the package... they need a bar code. Which I did NOT get in my print stuff.
zooz...don't....my brain is scrambled as it is...naughty man...you are teasing me.
could check in the old icon themes
lol
Sprite, the oar only weighs 2.5 kg..not very heavy?
Sounds like a nightmare trying to send a parcel where you are.Very easy here.I know that does not help..lol
canoe paddles shouldn't be heavy, zooz, lol.
This is a horrible grid
ok, calling them again. I am so fed up with this.
g'day melia
hey mel :) I like it... but we all know I am crazy.
Don,t blame you, Sprite.give them hell!
Yes, Meliae, I too think this grid stinks!
* lips and fingers zipped * apropos sprites last remark.
Lol too twisty for me even with one eye closed and standing on my head.
now that's your problem, melia. you need both eyes open and to be upright.
Tell that to the caretaker she is a meany head
lolol
Stay in bed, drink your juice, did you take your meds......
Rose, I went to the quacks and he has put me on a course of Omeprazole.hope that will fix my tightening of the throat and nasty saliva problem!
I feel like I am 5 years old lolol
Sounds like a right bossy boots, Meliae!
*nods head * yep, good choice, zooz
Well so far no more episodes..so am hopeful!
Bottom lone I a fish?
zooz, also try a sleeping wedge. it elevates your head, so that the stomach acid should not rise up.
I so want one of your chocolates in your icon, Meliae..lol
no, melia. im5/12
They would not satisfy you much they are 1/4 inch each, it is a miniature made of clay :)
melia, start with idi ****, dictator of cuba
sort of...
I try, Rose, But it hurts my neck after a while..I move about so much whilst asleep. My bed covers are all over the place by the time i wake up..lol
Raises head from the duvet. Thought it was Castro in Cuba.
Fidel Castro?
I did post that twice now..My posts keep disappearing in the chog!
It is Fidel Castro!
frances....you are so right. uganda is idi
Frances! Hello, good to see you.
Ok I am not losing my mind not slept so long I missed out on a change in leaders lol
and I am back... called company... gave them hell... they will send the guy back to me with papers and all, they cancelled my credit card payment and now I have to pay in cash. But at least we will get it on the road now.
what can i say?? geography is NOT my strong point!! lololol
Good for you, Sprite!
lol rose, nor is politics, in my case.
Well I am clueless on that clue lol
So are the politicians!
and... fun detail... the telephone guy's daughter is called Cassandra too! Quite a rare name.
mel, i + ariadne's man/bull guy was a ****taur.
The only Cassandra i know is in only fools and horses!
and me, zooz, you know me :D
Well I know that but did not know if you wanted that out in babbleland :-)
Thank you :)
hehehe true. But the coincidence was too funny not to share
yvw mel :)
Ok need an 8 for NBS please
Back later.
Ok Zooz
mel, mi8/70. Intensely, heavily.
fo8/60. f + black crude fluid + plural letter + not woman
Ty looked for that earlier was going the wrong way should have just typed it in!
what a weird word, that one, rose. Thanks.
lol I always do, mel. If I think of a word, looking at the letters, I just type it in for the hell of it. It is amazing how often it takers.
takes*
Hmmm having to do with fencing perhaps
or sl8, s + not dark in shade of colour + **e, an old disinfectant
yes mel
person who uses or specializes in using a co u
ah, indeed. The -s- is a bit surprising, I guess. Black fluid + guy doesn't take one.
Foil*
yes mel....extend it
I got the word was just putting in the meaning of it.
have taken meds. if you all of a sudden are talking to the air...well i am probably unconscious...lol
Same here lol
yay you melia
Homily
Dang it
good word, mel. substitute the l, for another ho6/30
Have it but thank you
If it's the white corn word you were referring to.
oooooh mel is giving away freebies!
Shhh lol
no nodding off, rose. Talk to me girl.
I think fony is even more phony than phony
there... called my husband and yelled at him for making me send that package for him... "You do it, Cass, you are good at that stuff." Never again!
figman - guy dressed like Adam
lol...you are learning sprite
I think if we can have that fo 8 word the To should be allowed, one who to**s a hardworker lol
yes melia, it was the white corn word
I agree, mel
finally, rose, finally. Lol!
he was laughing so hard when I described what happened, lol. Told him he owes me big time.
Lol figman, he comes bearing his fruits
jammies on...close to bed-time
oh my, mel...laughing fit to kill
sprite, naughty man
sprite, naughty man
lolllll mel, can I steal that one for our dictionary?
sprite, naughty man.
A loin cloth of figs...tantalizing no?
Of course my dear :)
oh dear, my PC has gone nuts...just like it's owner...lolol
yeah. Makes me wanna pick the fruits.
or the nuts, sprite...
As long as they are plump and not dried....
he is, rose. Very naughty. Which is one of the reasons I love him to pieces. In many marriages, stuff like this would lead to an argument. We just yell and laugh and make fun of it.
plump and full, and so soft to the touch. I bet zooz's ears are burning again...
as my ex called them, his shrivelled dried arrangement...
Lmao if Ruru reads the chit we will be in for it!
Chog*
ruru is probably choking by now
my absolute favorite word for them is dingleberries. Learned here at babble. We used to have a babbler who had Dingleberry as a play name.
hey, if you can't beat 'm, scrote 'm!
Hmmmm oh hell no do you know what dingleberries are?
love it sprite
At least where I come from
a kind of cranberry, right? But also balls.
nope, that does not describe sprite's other half at all.
Uhm no.....they are how do I put this...poop that is stuck on hair
Like dogs hind end lol
ughhhhhh omg that is yucky!
oops...for real? melia...
o.m.g. This is what the urban dictionary says: A delinquent partial turd which grasps anal shrubbery causing brownish crust to accumulate in one's boxers
Also a cranberry...Dingleberry definition, Slang. a small clot of dung, as clinging to the hindquarters of an animal
* col * o.m.g.
I stand corrected!
Laughing so hard I have tears
that urban def is funny, lol.
laughing is good, mel! I hope you don't hurt though.
sprite's other half is so not a dingleberry.
No it's all good :)
on the other hand...my ex...
no he is not. He is a big, warm, loving, lovely man with a wicked sense of humour.
You better not ever tell him the American slang for that lololol
your ex is so a dingleberry. Singular. Hanging at the back of a camel.
* grin * yeah sprite
Any cy words?
yeah. I have 2 so far
yup, cy5/16 and cy6/27
put a heavy weight at the end of cy 5 and 6

I didnt know we were hiccuping. Thought it was my puter.
okay, for now...5am is hiccup tie.
nope, your puter is fine. Hiccup time is 5 am grid time nowadays, since the server was moved.
snap, rose
and you are surprised, sprite, why???
did I look surprised? I said it so nonchalantly.
Brb going to sneak a smoke while the warden is in the bathroom
hahaha enjoy it, mel
roflol.elia...
sprite, nothing you say is nonchalant...
trust me, grin.
ummmm...yeah i guess so...i trust you...lolol

caffeine is calling me..going to start the coffeemaker

sprite, how are you doing with the grid?
10 left, darling
yay sprite. you are a champion....
ah, never mind, 4 left. Forgot to use the add button after the hiccup.
am always so happy with K grids where the K is dead

last word was the smallest word in the grid, lol. Fireflies.
WTG SPRITE!!!

She can't stop me if I have already gone lol
Congrats Sprite, yep time for my rub down as well.

Morning, missed Rose again...
good morning, sukee
Hi Annie
Well, we got hit with a snowstorm today, schools are closed.
right now, it is raining here, not too much snow, I think I can get my car out of my spot. Hopefully, it will not ice up.
my daughter lives in CT and they closed the schools last ni5.
Still dreaming of spring :)
Two more mo5s of this. Arghhh
Ty, didn't have that one :)
youre welcome
Finding this slow going.
me too
Got the ws, that is something :)
I have them also
I cant find the ec7
I only have 4 and 5 letter words so far
Ive been at this since 5:30 am so I have all the stats
ec7 is the act of repeating, repeating, repeating
got the ec7
Or the religion?
I found it as you posted Molly and good morning
I found it as you posted Molly and good morning
I found it as you posted Molly and good morning
I just found it too and was trying to clue it :)
uhoh, another glitch
uhoh, another glitch
uhoh, another glitch
It's ec7
The glitch that is
yes, lol
I know so many old songs, courtesy of my mother. I just looked up Little Sir Ec4 and it is circa 1939
Little
Little Sir Ec4, how do you do?
:)
I want to know how the groundhog saw his shadow when it's raining in Punxsutawney
All the cameras casted the shadow ;-)
Aha, I found this. "In reality, Phil’s prediction is decided ahead of time by a group called the Inner Circle on Gobbler’s Knob, the tiny hill in the town for which he’s named about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh." Sorry inner circle, but according to the weather, you all were wrong.
watched it...very hokey
I'm going with Buckeye Chuck, Ohio's groundhog, who actually sees or doesn't see a shadow. And Chuck says early Spring.
Maybe there will be longer winter in the NE and early spring in the Midwest
That's pretty stupid. Does the inner circle ... look at the weather forecast at all?
I think if you want to adhere to the legend (that actually started with bears coming out of their caves) you have to look at the weather and make your guess accordingly.
anion s
Sorry ;-(
Anybody have the bottom i?
im5/12
Thanks
yw :)
Also any 8 letter word clues would be great
mi8 in a mi6/36 fashion :-)
sl8 in a sl6/27 fashion
oh thanks, I didn't think to use the bottom i for the M word
How about the fo8/60?
don't have it yet . . .
ok . . . fo5/16 + not female
aahhh a fencing term . . .
Thanks - I tried those last three letters on everything else but that combo!

Hello
Third column i stats please?
Hello :) im5/12
bit clue please?
Do you have the first am5/12, MLF? Just change the first letter
not the right am 5/12 no i sure dont
im + in4/4 but omit second consonant
ty bit
Same for am5/12
yw :)
are the cy words any we have had before?
Sorry, MLF, don't have those yet
Yes we have had them many times before.
bit do you have 4th column F?
ty zooz
Not the lone f in the 4th column, no.
Hello zooz and ty :)
Lone F..think of agression.
Hello, Biltong :-)
ah, ty, zooz, got it
hi folks. Snowed in this AM
Hi bichon :)
How much do you have, Bichon?
Welcome, Biltong :-)
hi bichon
zooz ty for the f i should have seen it
so far, only about 4", but now it is freezing rain and then it's going to turn back to snow. We'll porobably end up with another foot
Hope you have plenty stocked up in the house, Bichon.
I hate that type..ice under snow is lethal!
We have lots of food, a snow blower and as long as we keep having power, I can Babble
YaY! that is the most important thing..lol
We went to the store on Saturday and got lots of provisions. The stores yesterday were crazy. Storm + Superbowl = mania
First column C clue please?
Yes I can imagine!
hello again...
Hello, Pen :-)
hi pen
hi pen
snowing hard here right now....expecting 10-14 inches more...fourth significant storm in a week...
Hello pen :)
CY 5/16 & CY 6/27
You guys do get it hard when it snows!
hard right now, lol.....had a snowy late fall and then not much at all for a couple months...
we had rain this AM but its seems to have stopped. It is supposed to be windy here though
Can't wait for summer to arrive!
zooz clue please??
windy and 7 degrees here right now...
I really thought we were going to have a snowless winter up until a week ago
Bichon is an optimist.
CY + weight.
lol..Hello, Hego :-)
ty again zooz
:)
Thankfully no snow where i am this year!
i am so tired of it....
Some people have all the luck
Wish I was one of them, Bichon :-)
stats for first column n, pls
yes with snow..the novelty factor soon wears off after and hour or so..lol
i just need one more . clues for any of the 8s please for nbs..i have nbt:0
If you're over 10, it's no longer fun
NI5/12
NI 5/10
6/18
Ni*
ty zooz
bichon if you mean snow, i love it
sl6/85, small in amount
You live in North Carolina. It doesn't mess up your entire world
FO 8/60 compound.
ty zooz
nbt and nbs got the fo;)
MLF I meant sl8/65, lol, not 6/85
i liked snow when i was young....now that i have to shovel it and drive with it on the roads, not so much....
Do you have snow wheels for your car, Pen?
I bet my 7 y.o. gdaught is having a blast today. No school, all fun. Her mother OTOH is trying to figure out how to get to work
i have all weather radials....if i was still working, i would have snow tires.....some people here have studded snow tires...
We don't have snow tires, but rather all season radials
I bet she is..lol..snowman building time..here we come!
Or snow-woman :-)
What does her mother do, Bich? Is it some kind of emergency that she go to work in such bad weather?
She's the manager of a group home. The night crew probably slept over and someone needs to relieve them.
can i get STATS for the bottom row i please?
IM 5/12
im 5/12
ty...
are the top row l
are the top row l's mostly unusual words? only have one.
oops...now see a couple more
lol
How come when I ask for a million dollars it doesn't suddenly appear like that?
hahaha! Wouldn't that be nice!
ha! not resonating with the possibility being right in front of you.
ca6/7? clues
ca6 tight of engine
= charged particle
heading out again....bbl to find last 30....keep getting sidetracked....bye!
hmm..does not compute here, jeff..thanks, though
Well, do you know what the charged particle is?
nope
That's too bad. It gets used in clues here all the time and the plural form is in the grid.
Charged atom is another way of defining it.
hi all back to get a few more words
do see that word but not how combines with ca
ca 6 beginning of pattern that hides things- then the particle
You just need one more cons to hookthem up Babs
Well the word is ca6, you only need to connect that to the particle with one letter to get the word
50 left for later- bb in a few
oh..thought i'd tried that..thanks! tried every which way around it
:)
ma 7/32?
big, fancy house
oh, grr.. thought I had typed that in long ago!
not your day
ns
good morning
Hi Nan
Hiyas, kiddos!
hi judi
ec 7, please?
just found the fo 8 -- what the heck is that? a hairdresser giving a colour job?
Add to the EC 4/6
nan, ec7 -- belief in sounds reflecting off of objects :)
ty - another manufactured word
fo8 refers to the sport of fencing nan. lol.
Great icon, Judi!
Thanks!
Fear the HOG!
am6?
I don't think spring is coming next week!
nm. FW.
it rained here this morning. don't know what that predicts.
Wet groundhogs.
I'll trade you for snow and cold wind
you want some of my snow and cold wind??....expecting a foot today and maybe another in a couple days...
Give it to Scrabbler. She loves that stuff.
It was in the fifties this morning. wind is rising. Show? Have I seen any this winter?
7 degrees and windy here...
snowing heavily rightnow...
I have a sister in Maine and another in Mass. I think they got a bunch of snow.
Not trading with you penquis, we're just having a skiff of snow, and it's supposed to be getting warm for a while by Thursday.
Fireworks!
we have had three (or is it four?) significant snowfallsin the last week....
grats, helen
congrats...i have one more to find...
We specialized for a while in having 7 - 10 days of alternately heavy and light snow, temps around 0 F - then three nice day - then repeat. the last nice days episode was about 10 days, and we got used to it! We are being reminded that it's winter.
Thanks all - and good luck. Must go call the landlord about the heating system - it also forgot.
ty...bye...
i am done....last word was an actual real word, lol...
gotta go make some phone calls....bye all who remain!
2nd si 5/16 please?
nm - found it
*!* ta da *!* - guess I'm the last one standing - bye

YAY, Aloy!!! WTG!!!
Good Afternnon Fellow Babblers. I'm sort of in & out here for now; fighting with Comcast and hating them right now so need to cool off here.
Nef, I had Cox Cable which is similar and hated them, too. I now have DirecTV and LOVE IT. You get so much more for your money and they're much nicer to deal with. If you want to change, let me know and I'll give you my account number and we'll BOTH get $10 off the month's rate.
I have direcTV too, Mimi; but Comcast holds us hostage for internet & phone here. They've messed up our account; our son's account; and his exwifes former apt. (that she's been out of for 3 months now)
Best move we made was getting off Comcast for TV service; just wish we had some other internet service here too
Wow. You have no other choice for internet and phone? I have Century Link (formerly Qwest) and they're fantastic. Always willing to work with you if there's a problem. I never had my internet/phone with Cox as I knew they were terrible but had no choice until mgmt. here at apt. started letting us put the dish on the roof. I immediately told Cox what they could to with their modem!
There is that Hughes internet service but I have no idea if it's good or not. It's totally independent.
I don't know how these companies get away with the things they do. They're supposed to be regulated.
Break over...back to work. Take deep breaths, Nef!!
Sorry, Mimi, I was trying to solve the problem and chatting with my son. We basically live in a nice lovely suburb in North St. Paul, MN; but it was near the first office Comcast ever had in this northern area. The problem we have is that we are pretty much surrounded by lakes and wildlife refuges (also known as swamps, I think?); and the area owned by Comcast is probably the only dry area into this (maybe) 1/2 mile area (we're elevated above all the water too). about 2 miles both of us are 3 giant TV towers, so we're close enough to those we don't get good TV reception without cable or satellite (otherwise I'd go without;considering we basically watch public TV and such).
Century Link has always been in Minneapolis & is just now coming over to the St. Paul side of the Mississippi River; but they have no plans to service *this* area of town anytime soon. Qwest once did have some phone lines here; but (like Comcast TV) the lines were always giving everyone problems. (Comcast says the squirrels here chew the cables up. Anyway; that's been their excuse for years of TV problems. For some reason, the squirrels never seem to bother the internet/phone line; however.
snowing buckets here and windows iced up
here too annie.
and hello friends.
I did the snow blowing this morning, but I will absolutely have to do it again before night fall. boooo
The parking lot is being plowed now. They clear a path for walking but the snow gets pushed in back of the cars. Not very bright.
16 (F), sunny, blue skies, beautiful weather here in Minnesota. We probably have less than 2 inches of snow on the ground now; lots of grass showing through. :-(
Hi Nef..glad you are having nice weather
Snowing like crazy here. When will this stop?
gi 5/16, pls
gi5 is a thingamabob

good
there are really twisty words in this grid, aren't there?
Annie, I don't understand why parking lots get plowed that way. That is what Bobcat scoop loaders are for, to pick up the snow and pile it away from the backs of parked cars.
But if a Bobcat would touch one of those parked cars, Molly, it would be a big insurance claim
Molly, was away from keyboard. I agree with you. They try but they always leave some snow to shovel.
All the snow removal companies who do parking lots around here use Bobcats.
And cars can just as easily be damaged by the plows.
We've got about a foot less than average at this time of year right now (last year at this time we were 22 inches ahead of the norm!). We pay someone to do our driveway; they always handshovel around the car or cars because of that.
There is no efficient way to remove snow from a commercial parking lot by hand shoveling. It would take a week.
hi all! Come to sunny Britain .... just joking! ... not having anything as much as you are suffering over there. I wish you all well.
No, that's true. The parking lot at our daughter's place is plowed with a snowplow, and then they use a snowblower around the cars there if there's room
I'd rather we had some of this snow everyone else has had up here in Minnesota. The St. Paul Winter Carnival was held over the past 10 days or so and it was too warm so some events had to be cancelled or moved for lack of cold & snow. We got the cold back (as of yesterday) but still missing the snow
oops! sorry to frighten everyone off.
tYou probably didn't scare them off, mo. I probably did because I'm grumpy & it probably shows in my posts about no snow
why cant you be "grumpy" once in a while!
All this talk of snow...come to Vancouver Island where we have had a very mild winter - and the snowdrops and crocus, and even a hardy cherry are in bloom!
LOL! I just got a junk mail promo from Dairy Queen about a "Red Velvet cake Blizzard" deal. I'll bet that the people who got all that snow would prefer this edible one to the real thing! :-D
That sound lovely, davurs! :-) But I'll stick to Minnesota (I actually like winter most of the time. But last year was excessive)
here in uk the weather has been quite mild for the time of year ... in parts of the country even the daffodils are blooming.
Moved here 14 years ago to escape the deep freeze of the prairies - haven't regretted one minute!
Daffodils are up - but not blooming :(
I must say that they are in the south of England ... not here in the north.
I'm not sure I want to see daffodils in bloom this early in the year. I wouldn't mind seeing them in March; but Feb. seems too early to me
what part of the prairies, davur?
Will have to check how my sister's garden is doing - she lives in Devon.
We lived for an aeon in Alberta.
I am sure she will have her spring flowers showing.
Ok. That is much more of the prairies than MN is. I can imagine that the winds & cold are worse there
hi all *waves madly at Nef*
Alberta has been vacillating between very warm and very cold this winter.
I already have crocus in my front yard
hi jmc! How are you doing these days?
hi jmc.
Under the snow in your icon?
haha no davurs that snow was from a few years ago. . . so far only a few inches at a time this year. . .
Good for you, jmc! We've had crocuses in February along with something else… snowdrops? (I can't remember now). They're so cute peaking out from the snow
I am okay nef. . . had a great week on the pacific in mexico and now am paying for it with a cold. . .
well I will be off now you have company ... byeee
My cryptic crossword calls - gotta go...HAGD all.

Aw Geez, I *almost* feel sorry for you ;-)

I keep trying to go on vacation but DH gets sick every time

bye mo! *waves* sorry to see you go. . .
And I missed davurs leaving. Bye davurs, HAGD!
ty nef and jmc .. just felt a bit left out! good luck to you both.
i understand mo and am glad you called my attention to it. . .
i try to great everyone but sometimes things get lost in the shuffle . . . but i appreciate you pointing it out so i can make amends. . . .
I will not be here long. . . just a few words before i catch the metro to my mandarin class. . .

Hi guys. Back to play for a bit - can anyone guide me on the fo7?
My daughter can talk my ears off! She's so enthusiastic about a house she saw that she wouldn't shut up!
sorry, natty, I don't have it but will look
Matty, Not natty!
I like to think I'm a natty dresser (actually, that's so far from the truth you really couldn't reach it with a very long barge pole)
LOL! :-)
i am no help on this grid matty. . . only have 17 words. . .
Well, I can tell you lots of words that AREN'T working so far!
Aaah - there are a couple of suffixes you'll find that will make things much easier
well is she buying the house? that's exciting!
Or should I say, go much more easily.
She's fallen in love with a 2 story, 3 berm, 1 bath (& 2 staircases) 1984 house and is making a low-ball offer
more than 1 suffix group, natty? That's encouraging (I've only found 1 so far)
that is the way to do it. . . i made a low ball offer for my house and my real estate agent gave me grief but i got the house. . .
bedroom
i almost asked was a berm was but then i figured it out for myself. . . haha
Yep - and some go together. Just tread li7/48...
that hint opened up a whole new world of words for me ty matty
BEAUTIFUL hint, Matty! (I find it's spellcheck messing with your name, sorry)
Glad I could help :)
wow how blind i was. . . i blame it on the head cold. . .
Okay! I found the FO 7
It took me a while too
Yay! Give me a clue?
And berm is a word - A berm is a level space, shelf, or raised barrier separating two areas. It can serve as a border barrier. The word berm originates in the Middle Dutch and German berme and came into usage in English via French
Nevermind. It says I'm seeing thing that aren't here (I should always enter a word before I say it's here; right?)
How about the gi5/16 or im5?
i knew it was a word actually matty it just confused me in nef's comment about the house. . . i mean why would her daught want a 3 berm house?
gi5...thingamabob...alternate spelling
Well, yes. But I suppose three shelves also come in useful
LOL! I'm having one of those days I guess.
im5...like the am acid
hahaha and with that i am off since i am clueless about how long it is going to take me to get to this class and i hate being late. . .
fo 7 (for real)
blame it on the head cold nef! hahah hi molls and bye all!
Got the im - thanks! Still trying to find the thingamabob
Gadget? Thingy?
italic fo** is used in calligraphy + a girls name
molly, usualy with a Z in the US :)
(girls' name = metal can + vowel)
Yes, that is why I said alternate spelling
ah, was a clue, not questions :)
Ha! The name I was known as a kid (long story - my name is actually Kate, short for Katherina - from there, my parents chose to shorten to Tina - I re-shortened it when I was 20)
the dangers of bopping in and out.
Aa;aaaaahh!
Oh whew. I thought you were known as gi5
I should have got the s instead of z, given where I live
Ha! No. That was Gidget ;)
BTW, could someone here tell me the value of Linked in if I'm retired?
I don't see a huge amount, unless you're still doing (say) charity work, or want to keep in touch with old colleagues but not on a personal network such as FB. Also, if you're still interested in your former occupation, you might find interesting articles or updates
I'm an RN and still keep up to date with articles and research and maintain my license, etc. I was on it at one time; but quit because I was getting too many offers for travel nursing jobs, etc. that it was annoying. Now I'm getting requests to add to some people's (I do know them) networks; and I'm just wondering if I should or shouldn't go back again.
I guess it also depends on how happy you are to be asked for recommendations for former colleagues (for example). I use it, but I'm still working. There are a few people with whom I worked that Linked in is the only contact left
But the notifications can get irritating - what you could do is set up an email account specifically to deal with Linked In, so the notifications (some of which are hard to shut off) don't ping directly to your personal account
Usually places like Linked In are a lot more trouble than they're worth. You can keep up with articles and research and maintain your license (why, if you are retired?) without being on Linked In.
am6 pls
Think the sac where babies hang out before they're born
ok
Ends in charged particle
ty matty
ty Molly got them
Molly did you get much snow. we got some snow but mostly icy rain which made for a lot of slush but it was not hard to shovel
Nothing here but rain. Now it's cold and very windy. I'm so sick of winter.
That beats what's up here today. Endless snow and wind
me too, but spring is coming despite what that stupid Phil said.
How is one groundhog in one area of one state supposed to predict winter for the entire northern hemisphere, anyway?
The groundhog always sees its shadow, no matter what. Isn't it time to stop the darn thing?
matty it's a dumb joke
I know ;)
So was mine
I am pretty sure there was no sun out this am when that groundhog looked out. it is a stupid tradition
Mind you, it was sunny here (and very cold, for London)
I read today that the whole Punxsutawney thing is rigged. They don't even look for it's shadow. Some group of weird men called "The Inner Circle" just decides what Phil will predict. Very weird.
that is weird and dumb
It drums up viewers on the evening news
And it was cloudy with freezing rain in Punxsutawney this morning, so nothing (man or beast) would have seen a shadow. I say bring on the warm weather.
hear hear, I second that, Molly.
fo 7, pls
Why maintain a legend about a groundhog and whether or not it sees it's shadow if you aren't going to actually base things on whether or not he does?
si 6/27 too

Sorry, I had a call from my realtor that I had to deal with. Molly, the reason I keep my license and keep up with my nursing practice is because I loved my job; plus if I want to volunteer or do some other nursing related things, it's much easier to have a valid license than it is to re-apply for it (MN requires continuing ed programs to maintain our licenses for professionals).
Re: Linkedin. I'm retiring in June and intend to keep it going because I'll use it for a professional organization I'm a member of. I'll have no reason to want another job, but I might endorse others through it.
Nef are you moving?
Re: Groundhog day. From February 2nd to March 20th/21st is just about 6 weeks. Hence "Spring" will come in that amount of time no matter what. Whether the spring weather will is a whole 'nother question.
And hi!
My favorite English word is in the grid - ghoti
Groundhog Day is based on an ancient mid-winter tradition of predicting the weather for the last six weeks of winter, based on watching animals emerge from their hibernation places.
now that, java makes some sense to me right now. I got a request today from a dear friend who is trying to return to the workforce after 8 years of being a stay at home Mom. She is the first (only?) person that I would consider "being there"for.
don''t all states require continuing ed programs to maintain a license? I was a licensed social worker but I let it lapse when I retired. I have a master's degree so I could probably get a temp or part time job it I wanted it
Unfortunately, no, peri.
PA requires Continued ed program re license
It's kind of scary that all states do not require continuing education. Especially for nurses. How else would they keep up with current practices?
I'm in construction: most states require different numbers of CEUs for Architects and Engineers. I'm not licensed, but am certified and my certification requires CEUs to maintain the certification. I'll probably make sure to get them just because.
I did not know that, Nef
slim
sorry!
If you give me a few minutes, I can tell you what staes don't require continuing ed. for RN licensure if you'd like. If PA requires it for a social worker, chances are they also require it for all professionals.
they do require it for nurses, Nef
And, a lot of RN's are also certified in their field of nursing; so even if the state doesn't require CEU's their specialty does.
2nd mi5/18 pls
I've got a mi*** meat pie, but the sometimes vowel at the end
ty java, I was looking in the wrong direction
I do that a lot
Peri, that makes a lot more sense than "thought I had that" : D

excessively particular or fussy, esp with regards to eating displaying characteristics regarded as typical of a woman; effeminate Not found in many dictionaries. The direction is dependent on knowing the word.
Staes that do NOT require continuing Ed for Rn licensure: AZ, CO, CT, GA, GUAM, HI, ID, IN, ME, MD, MO, NY, OR, SD, TN, VT, WA
(That information used to be easier to access; the National Board of Nursing no longer has a simple diagram easily available anymore. I had to Google it instead!)
hello, all.
hi o-o. How are you today?
hi TO.
Doing fine, Nef. Hope you are too.
Gi 5 please and hello all
hanging in there, o-o, & that's as good as it gets.

Thank you
hi, nef
I'm reading about your icon TO; not ignoring you. :-)
Is the ec 7 a compound off the ec 4?
not a compound, but an extension
Strange word even stranger definition lol
Thank you
TO, your info on Groundhog day on your profile is really interesting. I've never seen or heard that before. Thanks!
i never knew it until last week. Phils does not have a good track record, the LI goundhg is better
LI? I didn't know there were more than 1 places doing that
there are.
I don't know what LI stands for, but Ohio has a groundhog that predicts.
Hi all - LI - Long Island????
Whether it be a groundhog or a meteorological forecast - I hope spring comes soon for you.
Hello friends!
Hi Car
yes, li, ny
Hi to everyone I've missed coming in. (Too many distractions & phone calls today here)
I thought the New York groundhog was on Staten Island. Must be two of them.
Not a bad guess for a UK / Aussie - lol!
Hi Nef
I was impressed Liz.
;)
Lucky guess!
I've been plugging away here for a long time (with lots of interruptions) and haven't even reached half way. I'm going to take a break & see if that helps. BL
Need some more lucky guesses for my final 21 words.
Enjoy your evening if I don't see you later.

Celtic legend says that the Goddess/Crone of winter, Cailleach, collects firewood on mid-winter's day. If it's sunny, she gets a lot of wood and there will be six more weeks of winter. If it is overcast and rainy, all the wood is wet, and there will be an early Spring.
I like that much better than a groundhog
Funny but also to be expected, that there are parallel legends for most things in most cultures. Interesting reading the different legends.
Ooh. I like that one, Molly!
My poor little snowdrops have been snowed on and are now blowing in a cold wind, but they are up, to remind me that the Earth is regenerating itself.
Poor snowdrops - beautiful signs of spring. I miss snowdrops and bluebells and so many of the lovely flowers from the UK. I took so many flower shots when I was there last year.

Do you get a harsh winter where you are Molly?
Stats please for the upper left corner C?
Aren't LI and Staten Island quite close - ignorant Pom / Aus asking.

Not as bad as some. Last winter was exceptionally cold. This winter has had some nice days, interspersed with some bitter cold ones. Unfortunately, the older I get, the less tolerant I am of the cold.
Ty...got em

Me too, Molly. And it's quite ridiculous to feel cold here, compared to England, even in our winter!
And stats please for the lower F in the fourth column?
Thanks, Liz

good evening, all!
Lots of cluers around, so have a good evening all of you.
The definition is onomatopoeia. I have issues with that definition.
hi phan...
That's not onomatopaeia
So I also have issues with that definition! And on that note, I'm really going now.

what dpo you need phandmd??????????
phandmd, any other clues needed?
73 of them...
phand, plural for other Cy word.
Phan, are you getting all this bitter cold wind up there? I am so sick of winter.
Yes, it is frightfully cold right now. So thankful for a roof over my head and a heater that works! Also, thankful to not be living in New England!
with global warming an issue and fact, i say bring on this cold winter so our globe gets healthier.
the polar bears and seals and walruses need this cold.
Well, I would agree with that if I believed in global warming. But since I don't (since the climate has been "changing" for centuries) I think it's time for winter to exit stage left.
I agree, Molly.
i am knitting a scarf and i think i messed up the pattern....*sigh*....will have to take some rows out...
that's annoying, Pen. I hate it when that happens.
shouldn't have worked on it after dinner and the two glasses of wine i had... ;o)
knitting a sweter and last night found that I had messed up about 6 rows earlier - got 2 rows "unknit" - still more to go
As my son would say, "Rookie mistake" lol
yes, i will have to "unknit" a few rows....
some jerk parked his car near my usual space instead of moving his vehicle to the other side of the lot (as he is suppsed to do)....so the plow guy can't plow near my regualr space.....ARGGGGG!
sorry, Pen.
i hate it when people are thoughtless...
Wait, the guy is parked "near" your spot? How does that keep the plow guy from doing his job?
because the plow is too big and cant get around or that near his car....
everyone else moved their cars to the other side of the lot....
this guy put his car in someone else's spot, not even his own....
Is he in a parking spot, or just randomly parked in a "non-spot"?
he is actually in a non-spot between my spot and another .....he's in the barred off walking place....
So wait, you have to move your cars out of your parking spots for the lot to get plowed?
yes, we move to the far side of the lot (visitor spaces)....then when the plowing is done, we move back to our regular spaces.....now my regular space will have to be shoveled out before i can put the car in it....
he's not even from our building.....he's from the other building, but he parked on our side in an illegal space and left his car there....
Wow, from what I have read here today, the plowing up north is really different. There is a way to plow and Bobcat commercial parking lots without making residents move their cars to the far reaches of the parking area.
if we don't move the cars, the snow will be built up between cars and behind cars....
we are talking at least a foot with this storm....more where it drifted...
So there is no amount of personal responsibility for clearing the snow between cars and on the cars?
Here in the mild Northwest the moon is rising and we are able to see the reflection on the waters. Like moon over Miami, only moon over Mud Bay. Not so romantic, I think. But lots warmer than you are enduring. We are sending thoughts of hot cocoa and the likes to you. So few of us go the the pb any more. We miss those treats.
hello, everyone! clue for the gi5, plz?
molly....if we move the cars when we should, we still have to dig out our cars once....but we don't have to then shovel out our regular parking space....now i will have to dig out my car, then shovel out my regular space....
because the plow can't get at the area where i usually park with the car sitting there...
for me it means a lot more shoveling.....and for the three other people who park near me...
Hi doger I don
I don't have the gi5.
ty, stidmere....appreciate the cocoa wishes...
gi 5....a doodad.....
thank you penquis. Hello friends
ty, penq, always thought that was with a z
yw...
hi bugs
That is what was confusing me Pen. Seems easier to leave your cars in their designated spaces and deal with clearing out what the plows can't get to. Sorry for your inconvenience.
ty penq. didn't have that word on my radar either.
Hi bugs. Quiet here in the great Northwest tonight.
no, we can't do that.....the lot gets messier and messier with each storm....
I am winding down. Spent all day with kids a week before report cards are due so the pressure to comlete assignments was on.
our kids have had 3 1/2 days off in the last week....
if the European weather model is right, we get another foot on Thursday....hoping the model is wrong!
