I gotta say 2014 was a rough year and 2015 is looking up. My new hip is doing great, and, more importantly, my son is in a new group home and has started taking more control of his own life. He has challenges, and he is also a young man like most young men, needing to grow up and learn how to bounce back from missteps. He has a tireless case manager, which helps, and the group home staff are caring, attentive, and hold him to expectations.
Wow, mel, a real answer to prayer, finding that home and those care givers! You must be doing a happy dance (especially with your new hip) LOL
Yep. On top of all that, he's in the neighborhood, a walk from me, his dad, and his sister. He's taking his meds, not taking what he's oughtn't take, and 12-stepping with a good cohort of fellow travellers.

It is. Of course, the arch on the opposite foot decided to fall! I'm keeping it taped, and being patient. Can ride a bicycle, thank goodness.
ouch... I get flareups of plantar fasciatis... footsmart.com has some pretty decent aids to help with arch support, if you get tired of taping.

After many tries, Kineseo tape is my best solution. I actually copperated with the foot ortho and got orthotics. Hated them. K-tape works great because it's stretchy strips that you can fashion to meet your needs. I make sort of a stirrup with three strips crossing under my arch. I get supprt with range of motion and no cutting off of circulation. The tape holds for a good 5-7 days. I can't remove it earlier than that, unless I want to remove epidermis in the rocess!
Sounds very similar to the sock and the brace I bought. Sometimes I use an ace bandage, but it is more cumbersome than your tape. Sounds like how the athletic trainers tape ... glad it is helping you!

Wow, completely agree, mel! Corny, but true, getting old is not for sissies. I have really noticed some issues popping up from RA and fibro and spine problems the last two years... guest it teaches us to take 24 hours at a time.

RA AND fibro? I have fibro, been mostly in remission plus osteoarthritis. Of all things, my joints are not geting stiffer but wobblier!
Getting ver a winter of cold/flu/sinus that had me down for almost 6 weeks. Fibro seems a bit flared since then.

In more fun news. I was in NYC for 11 days over winter break! Took the train and stayed with friends.
one day mine are stiff, and the next wobbly... just started having some left hip issues.... every virus and cold sure causes flareups... I had to do some intense steriods for a bit to get my last flareup calmed down, but now my numbers seem to be improving finally.

In the last week, we got 16 inches of snow.
I was there at the end of december when the weather was quite mild, even reachin the upper 50s.

Highlight of the trip was seeing Nutcracker, and meeting the principal bassist of the NYCB orchestra, thanks to a retired bassist of the Cleveland orchestra who is a friend, and whose dad played 900 Nutcrackers with NYCB (I clocked in 524 with Cleveland Ballet). I got a tour of the backstage of the New York State Theater, including the pit, and the bassists break room. It put a cap on my career. Very sentimental.

VMD is right. Knee pain is horrible. The miracle of my hip surgery is total pain relief plus great functionality. Only limitation is no jumping/high impact stuff, and no exaggerated range of motion. Just to go to sleep without pain, and wake up with out pain is a blessing.

I don't even rx controlled substances although I do refills for my partners that treat kids with stimulants. I stopped doing those rxs 10 years ago.
Is that something new? I thought you couldn't do that. prescribe controlled substances electronically.
My guess is that Scrabbler means patients she sees, then sends the rx electronically to the pharmacy, and hego is thinking of people only interacting with a doctor online to get an rx.

We are not even supposed to use qd, qhs, tid, etc. The actual words should be used to prevent any confusion.
We still used them when last I worked Peri, about 4 years ago.
Mistakes have been made with medications with similar spellings, e.g. Klonopin and clonodine. VERY different meds.
There will always be errors where humans are involved.

we were out with our friends for dinner last night -- had one too many glasses of wine and a lovely chicken fajita with all the trimmings. Ate too much and still had enough left over to bring home and stir fry for lunch!
