WTG DIZ!!!
ty
good morning, everyone:)
g'day crossy. was thinking of you two days ago.
Back down into the deep freeze here. Tis minus 31 with the wind chill:)
((rose))
ugh, crossy, not my kind of weather at all
it was pancake day, shrove tuesday. we met at the church for pancakes. plenty of pure maple syrup, and no bacon in sight. felt very let down....lol
How are you and your loved ones, rose? I seemed to have missed chatting with you of late:)
NO BACON???!!
we are all good, thanx mate. and yes, NO BACON...
Those are the two most depressing words i have seen in weeks:(
ROFLOL, crossy...mine too. but the pancakes were scrumptious. i had lemon juice and coffe crystal sugar. if i cannot have bacon and maple syrup, i must have the lemony, crunchy flavour.
however, bacon, in one form or another will be consumed tomorrow when i go out for lunch with my friend.
good morning all
ROFLOL.... i think my darling has lost the plot....he just asked me about hte killing spray we got from the chemist. my response..???? he meant the chilling spray, for killing ticks...and we haven't bought it yet....egad!!!
{{hugs}} darling sprite
*takes Don's head between her hands and shakes gently, to put everything back in its place*
*hugs rose* Good morning dear friend. Evening for you.
hello sprite.
um.... hello rose?
i was about to leave. i have to make up the bed with clean linen.
you will let Don help, won't you?
{{hugs}} not the same as hello....lol
lol! *hugs* and hello rose!
where did crossy go?
are you better today, my darling?
My bunny Gandalf just died 90 minutes ago. :-(
crossy prolly ducking out to make a cuppa tea...
yeah, no head-tail collisions of panic attacks, thank god. Finally settled down in bed last night, with food, and binged until I couldn't feel anymore. Not a good day. Today looks a lot better.
On my end of things all is well, rose. Mrs is fighting her migraines again but is fighting the good fight, my boy is still eating me out of house and home, and I write my final exams on Monday and I am all done with classes!!
((sprite))
awww scrabs...hugs dear. so heart-breaking.
oh dear, Scrabs, I am so sorry. That hurts :( *hug*
wow crossy, nice going *hugs* to you and Elegant.
(((scrabby))) I am so sorry:(
I woke up at 4:30 and heard a ruckus in his room, next to mine. It was noisier than when he chews his cardboard boxes. I found him collapsed and breathless, but heart still beating. Within 2 minutes he was gone.
At least it was quick and I did not have to make the euthanasia decision. He was an old man. He would have been 12 in April.
Was he an old rabbit?
at least you were with him, scrabs. it is awful to find our animal friends gone without our presence.
nm.. I should read
My oldest bunny ever.
aw you will miss him so much.
That is 3 bunnies gone since last June 7th. But I still have Gulliver (5) and Remy (almost 2.)
{{hugs}} scrabbler. you were a good mistress of him. he died knowing he was loved.
they all had the bestest of homes, Scrabs. But not an easy thing for you, so much loss in so short at time
He was skittish and therefore not a bunny I could hold and cuddle, but he had his own room and a nice life.
he was lucky to live with someone who respected his personality
I will not be able to bury him in the pet cemetery in the woods next to my house until at least April.
It is so hard to lose our beloved pets.
yes it is. It hurts so much.
He will be the 8th bunny in my pet cemetery.
So, everyone, give your pets extra hugs, treats, and love today in memory of my Gandalf.
will do, Scrabs. Terra does a very slow and low wag and sends you a doggy hug.
mu 6/24 ?
least able to speak, gran
Got that one
gratz
((Terra))
Our three cats, Sirius Black, Abakadabera, and Amos, give a salute to Gandalf as he crosses the rainbow bridge
rose, are you still with us? Or are you seeing a squirrel?
sorry, darling. have been crying my heart out. i have \made the bed with clean linen, with don's help....and sarcastic remarks as to my ability.
Our ramblin rose has toddled off...:)
((rose))
Tell him that he can make the bed next time if he feels that he can do better
what? Is he out of his mind? {{{{{{rose}}}}}} give him hell from me! He has no right to do that to you.
yep, that is it. No doing anything at all for him until he apologises and means it. No tea, no coffee, no clothes clean or ironed, nothing.
bless you both. i have been professionally trained one way, he has been taught another way. my lower back was in such spasm....
I had a natural failing as well where I sometimes am sarcastic with i mrs. i have no idea where it comes from , and I intend no true hurt. it is been a failing in me for years that I am fighting to correct. i cannot explain it, but it is forever getting me in troubble
doing things differently is not the point here, rose. The sarcasm is uncalled for and wayyyyy out of line. Please don't accept that, you deserve better.
((Rose))
aw crossy... sarcasm can be so hurtful, much more than the one saying it realises. I know, I have this tendency too. It is called after me, ya know? Sarcassm ;)
thax all of you. my darling is a wonderful man...he is STILL learning to LIVE with another adult human.
It is really odd. I have no idea where it comes from. My mouth just gets me in trouble.
rose, my darling... yes he is, but he has to learn that he has no right to hurt you this way. I hope you are drawing the line here, and not letting him do this to you because usually he is a darling.
but it does not diminish the hurt...
amen, rose, so please please please be mad at him and let him know that you are.
sprite, the pain is so bad....i cannot fight back....you alone would know how that is.
I learned from my father... narcissist, cutting sarcasm. But most of the time I am doing much better now. Much better to just say what you feel and not hide behind sarcasm. Or so I find.
As a guy, all I can say is just do not hold onto the anger too long. We chastise quickly , but do not do well with a long freeze as we just get angry ourselves. We are more like a puppy you whack on the nose with a newspaper. We learn best if it is short and to the point.. woof!
I know, rose, I know. And now that you are sitting down again and your body settles a little bit, you have to stand up for yourself. You have the right to react later, like now, and tell Don that he is way out of line and that you don't accept this from him.
true, crossy, true. The best way is to let you have it right away. But we women aren't always able to react immediately.
crossy, sprite....thank-you. he keeps asking if there is anything he can get me....i can hear he is concerned.
Yes, we try to make ammends quickly, as he is now and feel hurt if we are rebuffed for too long.. we are insane, what can i say?
okay...tears over...pain has subsided...
rose, sweetie... speak up! Yes, you can get me something... an apology for your uncalled-for and hurtful sarcasm. You hurt me and you have no right to do that.
i hear you sprite.
Let him bring you something, tell him his words hurt and allow him to make ammends
and thanx cro9ssy.
lol crossy... no, not insane. It is just like dogs and cats... men and women have different language, body and otherwise, and we have to learn to understand what the other half says!
Of course sprite makes more sense. crossy has all the tact of a steamroller sometimes
also, crossy... rose and I have been cowed in our youths until we didn't dare to speak up for ourselves at all anymore. It takes a lot of courage to learn to do so again at a late(r) age.
crossy, you are an incredible fiend. thanx for being here. xoxox
roflollll for that typo, rose, roflollll
sorry... that was funny.
lol! been together 24 years the wife and I. 22 of them married, and all I really understand about women is that it has something to do with chocolate!
oh, my...*friend* of course
crossy, you make lots of sense. And it is great to hear from a man, so we women don't go overboard with the emotional rollercoaster rides.
Hahaha, Crossy the Fiend.
chocolate is good. Yeah. Wow crossy, that is pure wisdom. ;)
crossy, chocolate is good...flowers better
snap, rose, my dear sister. And best is flowers with chocolate.
I am glad I am a help. Just make the punishment short and sweet or us guys get bitter and hurt. I react exactly the same way your man is now, rose
good call, crossy. One that I will take to heart again as well.
thanx crossy.
Let this be a learning experience for your man, Rose.
so... have you spoken up yet, rose?
scrabs....does the term ' crusty old bachelor ' mean anything to you? it describes my man so perfectly.
I know it well; I am yammering away, then i say something sarcastic and hurtful, or am otherwise out of line, I get cut and wonder where the heck did that come from? We are wired differently:(
Let him know that this is a teachable moment, Rose.
ain't that the truth, crossy! I swear, my marriage was saved by reading the book of the Peases couple.
sprite, one thing i have learned...24 hours is a good time to bring up a new topic....let him calm down..
what scrabs says!
Half a day of a cold freeze is more than enough for crossy
lol...crossy...yes men are wired differently...i try to take that into account.
um ok, sweetie. Only... not pushing or anything, just want to say it is not a new topic. I would at least tell him you are angry at him, and hurt. That is standing up for yourself... but I know that is very hard.
xoxox sprite
Just say, I feel ____ because ____."
great formula, Scrabs.
thanx scrabs.
I teach parents and kids to say that. "I" statements are far more effective than "You" statements. As in "You are such an ass."
brrr... back down into the keep freeze we go. We are aiming for minus 36 by tomorrow night! Minus 20 with a wind chill of minus 30 atm. Might move in with rose;)
one of our rules of engagement here as well. Say "I" and not "you". Also, don't say 'ev4' or 'ne5' or always. Don't bring up old shit. And don't turn tables as in "but you do that too".
Same here, Crossy, then a warmer weekend.
ouch crossy, that is so cold!
scrabs...i try so hard to miss the "you" statements. they are so accusatory.
crossy, second bedroom always available.
Yes, they make the other person angry and defensive.
especially the 'you are' statements. It is ok to say things like "when you say .... I feel ...."
that wasn't supposed to be a stopper though
crossy is back. had to go make some toast:))
wb crossy :)
*giggle* sprite, my dearest friend...i always try to use "i " instead of " you " the 'you' can be so accusatory.
All is better on this front. I had my nose slapped with a newspaper this morning as well. I am forgiven and my training continues....
another red wine in the hand, and meds taken....probably close to night-night time.
lool, poor crossy....just ow graceflly, mate...all will be well.
wine is good, meds too... sleep as well. *hugs* rose :)
ugh....'bow'
hehehe good man, crossy :)
Rule #1 : When she is not happy. nobody's happy, so I hung my head in shame, brought her things, made her a coffee and awaited forgiveness.
Good morning
Howdy, Sukee
hi sukee :)
crossy, for me a sincere 'sorry' makes it all good again.
Hi crossy, sprite
sprite...xoxoxox looking forward to your email. himself is in the shower...acknowledging that we have clean bed linen to sleep on/in.
Hi Rose
will write to you right after these last few words, rose.
g'day sukeee. on my way out, dear.
Have a nice sleep.
The man vs woman thing always reminds me of this picture when it comes to understanding one another sometimes... http://tinyurl.com/ox4dvb3
lollllllll nah we are not THAT bad!
I like the Google doodle today.
xoxoxox to all of you.
crossy tentatively reaches in to adjust a dial... nope, that's not it..:(
bye rose, sleep well, darling. *hugs*
sukee, the one with the owl?
Have a good sleep, rose
fireflies. *hugs* to Scrabs and crossy and sukee. And to you all, a blessed day and a peaceful night.
Take care.
tc ((sprite))
Back into the deep freeze for us the next 3 dats sukee:(
Yup.
It's snowing a bit here too.
Oh yes, I do not even bother reporting the snow much anymore as it is an everyday thing now. looks like 6 more inches of it last night.
I guess when I heard as a kid that it was too cold to snow that was false. :)
We still have open water out of the bay and it is a snow generating machine
We miss the worst since we are not close to the lake.
Not long now though. Another 8 weeks or so we shall be wading through mud in the spring thaw.
I'm ready :)
One day is is minus 25 and the next it is ten degrees and the river is overflowing into your back yard:)
So, the latest change in my apartment is that they are changing all the door locks. They said they would be in yesterday, but now changed it to today.
Oh what happened?
Have a break in?
I don't know, but they are changing everyone's locks.
Maybe they are changing it to card entry, who knows. They never tell us anything in detail :)
they must have lost key control. When a landlord does a sudden key change that usually means he is unsure who has a set of keys that should,nt
Oh, that is not a good thing to know :)
I have had the same apartment key for 21 years now:) poor lock is worn to a frazzle
But, in our building they have a revolving door around management assistants (ie superintendants)
And heaven help you if they go to key cards. We had those at the ski lodge I used to work at. they are tempremental, fiddly things that eat batteries like crazy and deny your card at the worst possible time crazy
They probably will stay with keys.
If you have a choice, request to stay with a key
Keys are probably cheaper for them
So you have a new super/ or manager all the time. great; nobody knows the building well then:(
We have had one couple that has been here for a long time, that couple seem to be the ones that chase others away. Management loves them.
Whenever i hear rumor that the manager is changing, i get all the little things taken care of in the apartment before he goes. We have had 4 in the time of my residency so far.
Our keys were just changed. No more keys. It's a little giizmo that you hold to a light and the door opens. It's great. We changed to this news system because the locks were always breaking and people had trouble getting intothe building.
One building I lived in had cards at the front door, it was great.
All I now is that my experience with key-cards was a year long nightmare from start to finish.
know
But, my apartment door was still keyed.
So far this is working perfectly. You still need a key to your apartment. This is entry to the building and the laundry room
The best change they made in our front door is that it now has a button to press to open it automatically.
caffeine calls, be right back
We have a inner security door where if you turn the key to the left instead of the right it opens by itself hydraulically. Handy if you are lugging grocery bags
I think they did it because one guy in a wheelchair kept breaking the glass. There are several wheelchairs here and walkers.
We are also a mostly senior building
Other than 2 couples that I can think of, we are the youngest family in here with a 21 year old son
The boy is 21 today as a matter of fact. Makes crossy feel a bit old:(
We have all ages, lots of kids.
Well, congratulations to him.
he is just hanging around till i kick off so he can steal my chair and my computer:)
lol
Well, I'm going to go make some breakfast. I will be back.
I'm back, with my boiled egg :)
the first mu 6 plz

waiting patiently to see if library is closed cuz of cold wind chill.. all schools are closed again.
It's bitter cold here, but all schools are open. We haven't had as much snow as you folks up north.
breaking all-time temp record here today -- schools closed for the week -- still an inch or more of rockhard ice everywhere -- sunshine at least makes it a little less depressing!
I'm looking forward to Sunday, the forecast is 51 degrees. I think people will be outside singing songs of praise to the sun.
Nashville has been hit pretty hard.
such thick ice on most vehicles, yesterday many local drivers had windshields smashed by sheets of ice flying off trucks in front of them on interstate
wow!
Hello everybody. I'm just recovering from one of the nastiest flus I ever had. Hope you guys are all well:-)
yes, molly, sunday will be rainy but that's RAIN at least and not ice :-)
Poor Soodle, glad to see you back in the fold
glad you're better, soodle -- sorry you got hit with the bad stuff
I wouldn't wish it on anybody. I had to psych myself up to leave the bed to visit the bathroom. On the mend now, thank goodness.
On the plus side, I got to watch 3 whole seasons of Sons of Anarchy! Tis an ill wind....
And so saying, Islither off to the PB!
You can rest there Soodle. ;:-)
:-)
Rest? I thought the PB was for eating, drinking and making merry.
good morning all
Soodle can do all that when she feels better.
*Turns PB into a sick ward
Good morning, all!
Good morning!
morning all
Hello
I always thought the chat was the sick ward?
Clearly, it is bath day for the parrot...water spraying all over the kitchen....
Fun, car! Do you blow dry the parrot when it's done bathing?
Nope. She does it all by herself.
Pretty bird.
I offer her a nice round low bowl of water for bathing, but she insists on using the water from her dish and splashing it all over.
What is your bird's name?
Bertie...she came with it, but it meant a lot to the gentleman who gave us the bird, so I will not change it.
Does she talk?
Constantly. And makes a variety of noises, my least favorite being the piercing Dremel drill noise.
You must post a pic. We don't get many parrots here.
I will change my icon pic...please hold...
Anyone know what the 2 T's are from that lowest T?
Hmmmm...it won't let me upload a new pic.

good evening, folks. Sitting here doing the grid and freezing my fingers off!
No heat?
we have heat, just freezing.
I even have my space heater running. Feet are toasty, that's it!
You must run cold
I do, at home at least. At work, I am always warm/hot
but then the old folks generally have their rooms set at 90 degrees!
As I recall, from when my folks were living in them, senior living places run very warm.
very!
Ooo, very with a "!"
Could I get a clue for er7, please?
There is no er7
sorry es7

I am doing fine. Shan't be sorry to get to the hospital on Mar 6 and find out what is wrong. I feel better so erhaps it is a case of Jackie, heal thyself.
Is this for the parathyroid?
and how are you and that gorgeous granddaughter of yours?
Yes to the previous
We're all good thanks. They've been enjoying the Chinese New Year.
And are your burns all healed?
They are in the best place for that. It is the year of the sheep, I believe
My burns are fine, you wouldn't know I had burned my hand
That's good. Hope this is a really good year for you
It hasn't started well. My cousin was found dead in and out of bed at the weekend. He was 66. My sister is devastated as they had a fling that his mother and my grandmother broke up. he never married.
Sorry to hear that
I have become resident agony sister. E-mails have been flying to and fro since we heard on Tuesday.

I don't haveit, peri. sorry but happy birthday and all that jazz.
ty, sorry to hear about your cousin, jaxx
it was a shock as he was the one who ate right and exercised, being a black belt at Karate
what happened?
We have to wait until they have done a pm
His head was face down on the carpet and his legs were still in the bed.
Looks as if he was trying to get out of bed. he had a hotwater bottle between his legs as Manchester is so cold at the moment.
He had dropped a paving slab on his big toe the week before so I suspect that had something to do with it
I have re8. Could I have a clue for the other please

Do you happen to have any words for the eastern t on the equator?
The reason I ask is that it is my last blank tile
th5? Not those but, th5?
The eastern t on the equator??
Have all 3 greyed out, but not sure which ones. Think - TH 5/12
TR 5/10 and TR 7/28 and the TH 5/12
Thanks! Oops, I have one more blank tile, the southern t By "equator," I mean the third row
TH 5/18 and 6/30 (pl)
hello,am leaving chat now, uninvited clues.
That is pretty much the way it is all the time, TO.
will rejoin later to get any sticklers.
and that is why i have chat off most times.
only clues that I see are the one that Douglas asked for and the word stats that I asked for
no worries. just wil close chat for now,
we might as well all close down the chat since we are not welcome to ask for clues any more - i am also out of here
Is uninvited clues now a breach of Babble etiquette?
hey, drop it. it had nothing to do with that
Close the chat, to. I'm going to ask for a clue.
geez. us.
etas, theta and hertz aren't in this grid
Hester (as in Prynne) is in the grid, but not in the dictionary. The Scarlet Letter she received isn't in the grid either.
Esther is in the grid, getting ready for Purim in March
<--- loves clues of any sort... :D
I actually just a gave a somewhat oblique clue, a homophone
hi all. i have re 8. what is other 8 please and clue?
not sure to which you refer, Douglas, but I found es7 and es8 thanks to one of your sentences, so ty!
glancing back i see an issue with clues. i thought the purpose of the chat was clues right? it is a lovely thing to play and to communicate with others and get very clever brilliant clues. i love it.
I was thinking about es5, but I'm happy for you.
rbud, is the es 8 plural of the es 7? would love a clue for it. dont know what you are referring to.
aw, just good old TO, I remember her not liking clues too early in her playtime, no big deal, to each their own, I say.
es plural of the purim queen, is es 6. still missing the es 7 and 8
so any clues for the es 8? ty in advance.
yes, mkg, I got the inspiration from the lady's name in Douglas' 7:31 hint - most of that name, drop the last letter, add most of what Brits drink in the afternoons, then pl. I think it has an alt. spelling with a A at the start.
Just joined what do you have to do?
means someone who greatly appreciates beauty, art, music, etc.
hi sugs. welcome to the grid. you find words. 4 letters or more. and you see if you can find the number of words they say is in the grid. this one has 190
there's a "Help" up above here, too.
am trying...................
fw.
i got it. wow. but i never heard this word or saw it. should end in ist. oh well.

Heap better than beer on floor!
ok, i spent $150 andsixdays pc=less to get to this point.
and it was worth every cent? (hopefully)
but on the flipside, i acually ironed sheets today, i was so into housework until pc was fixed.
isn't it shameful how easy it is to avoid chores when you have the internet, I know I chastise myself about my wasted time... but I can't seem to convince me, lol
well, i also found a few folks to cross off my christmas card list .:)
yes the grid is a waste of time but it keeps the brain working right? i tell my family it will keep me from going senile.
did you all get the ts 6, the flies? cute eh?
yes! I like using my brain, and it's hard to find anyone around here to have an adult conversation with, so I resort to online pursuits and friends. :)
oooh, didn't have that one yet, thanks!
off to try new recipe inmy profile.
Anyone from Boston. Weather not too good.
they sound yummy!
i don't know, pen, someone said they sound as if they will spread . ijust want a healthier cookie.
Superman's arch enemy is in the grid, I was hoping he would get out of the arch enemy business and into the musical instrument business
I don't see why they'd spread, but if the first batch does so in the oven, I'd say let the dough sit a while in the fridge, my choc. chip ones always stiffen up when I do that.
Maine here.....7 in. today....more Sunday night...
maybe Sat. into Sun......hard to keep track of these storms...
lol douglas, Lex Luthier?
yes, it does say to refreigerate.
My daughter lives in Hamden CT. Not as much snow, but minus 10c

it's a balmy 18 here...but it's supposed to be very cold this weekend...
U.K. Not far from Liverpool!
someone shoveled the snow away from the front of my car today....didn't have to do much shoveling myself, thank goodness....
it is frigid here. i have to godowntown via train, it will be 1 degree + windchill.
a nameless good samaritan....
and it is a block uphill to the station.
Not many Brits awake at the minute!
awesome! Love random acts of kindness
hello, pham. did you getmuch snow yesterday?
Last winter we had a snowfall like you have this year, pen. I was shoveling in a skirt and down coat, when some kind motorist stopped to help me. I figured out later he was one of our county commissioners!
nice....
not even an inch, TO
i shoveled the walk to the mailbox for my building....my neighbor then widened it...
Shoveling in a skirt???
i thought howard county got snow
pas moi....i don't even own a skirt...
maybe, I am in Frederick County.
Where is Frederick County?
*continuing to lurk because this week we've hit the high 50F's and low 60F's - I haven't seen snow in like 2 years - feel for those back east!*
But posting in chat is not continuing to lurk. : D Hi Pini.
Hi Molly (I was just throwing my $0.02 worth in) :)
Lurk is a good word Pinikula! Are you in Florida?
No, I'm in the US Pacific Northwest :)
San Diego area?
Just getting into the grid after a long day and glad to see folks enjoying the grid and the chog. Our weather is just early spring with flowering plums, crab apples, and quince looking lovely.

My son lived in San Diego for a while. Pacific Beach.
Strange feeling of deja vu
I don't know that specific area, but I lived in SD many many many moons ago...
How far is Idaho from San Diego?
...a long way!!!
Big country! The whole of the U.K. Would fit into California!
San Diego CA to Boise ID = 14 or 15 hour drive !
Some drive! Could drive from one end to the other here in that time!
Neve Campbell is in the grid
uh oh, molly, if i catch your drift. i hope i am not.
