i see your point tor
I mean after all you DO still have an icon from the 80's.....

hi mat
NBT NBS
Hi Matty - hope you're having a good holiday.
ba 7 x 7, ob 7
Oh yes - I'm peeling on my back, but I'm loving the sun (such a rare sight for me) and the whole not being at work thing (I'm in California at the moment, hence the flip confusion)
ob 6 ob 7
welcome to California.. what part?
At the moment in Santa Barbara (Jeff's (my OH) daughter is doing a year abroad there) - we're back to LA for a couple of days tomorrow
oh cool
let me know if you need any restaurant recommendations
Yes PLEASE - pretty please - are you in LA?
no.. i'm in nor cal
what part of LA
are you in?
no 7
ne 8
We're staying in Hollywood but we have a car (and, much to my shock and surprise, I discovered LA has an actual tube system)
can't find that la 9 - a demain - good night everyone
Sleep well Nan
ok.. in Hollywood.. try AOC, or run out to Manhattan Beach Post (short freeway ride)..
or republique
I shall look them up - we've spent so much time this trip with family, this is the only few days just the two of us so I'm keen to find something nice (not necessarily expensive, but nice!)
manhattan beach post is fun and nice and reasonable
aoc is a little pricier
Hey ru.
hiya neil
hey neil what's a nice restaurant in Hollywood not too pricey that you can recommend?
oe 8 if not called
Oh, AOC looks nice
the food is great there
worth it too
Manhattan Beach Post I'd eat at every week if I lived there
Oh that looks nice too. We are staying here - http://www.villadellestelle.com/ - would be cool to find somewhere we don't have to drive to (I noticed a distinct shortage of cabs in LA - you'd think there'd be more, unless I just didn't see them) as Jeff has been doing a lot of driving.
check out Lucques
Oh sorry ru... in the middle of doing laundry. Had to go put a load in the dryer, getting the next one in the wash in a min. Well, we always liked Gjelina, The Fat Dog and Little Next Door is nice... but a little pricier. brb again!
there's a few more matty to check out.. she's staying near highland and doesn't want to drive far
Sleep time for me - thanks so much for the recommendations - I shall try!
Sleep well Matty and enjoy the rest of your trip.
good luck matty.. have fun
Rainbow Bar & Grill is cheaper, if you're not looking for really fancy food.
think she left neil
Ohh... you were asking for mattygroves? Sorry.
thanks .. that gave her quite a few to research
you're welcome. :)
Goddammit, I'm hungry after that talk of food. -_-
ha
Bad time to be eating though, right before sleep.
I eat earlier now that i'm older
these e's are tough
Yeah, I try to. But the earlier I have dinner, the hungrier I am later in the evening. :P
I kinda ate late tonight
ahh. So how you doing? Nearly healed?
yeah.. doing a lot better
almost 100% again
Oh that's great!
hi everyone, late start tonight
hi there flosey!
hi flosey

Hi Flosey

Me too ru.

the grid just got really tough
ru how close are you to finishing up?
I've got 40 to go
great, terrific
Wow! Still have 114 to go.
lol, I only have 335 to go!!
But I started an hour ago!
After doin yesterday's grid this morning and ¾ of todays grid just now, I am babbled right out
I can sympathise with that.
Liz you were racing alongs, that's great!
me too!
Thanks. Need to get well along today - busy day tomorrow.
busy week - getting ready for both daughters, etc. 5 in all coming for the Easter weekend
How lovely for you. For me it's passover preparations.
oh flosey, you have you hands full, but what a wonderful weekend it will be!
For us too, Lizlin.
Busy time for everyone.
the girls will pitch in and help
But being mum, you want everything just right before they arrive!
yes, guess that is just the way we are!
:)
not seeing that te 8/9 that someone called
Me neither - only have 2 x9s
BBL - sleep well over in the US
And Canada of course.
'night Liz
diz.. can you hint on that te8?
To abstain from alcohol.
not surprised you couldn't find it ru!
Or the sum of all the "pegs" on a golf course?
Haha, saanichcat!!!! :D
oh god
thanks you guys
yw you guy.
I'm crashing... super tired. Good night!
night neil.. sleep well
'night neil

oh, nm, I see it
* giggle * i spelled your name wrong.
good thanks, tired! as usual, looking forward to the kids all coming this weekend
we're going up to the farm to pick up a leg of lamb for family Easter dinner
you better rest up flosey :D
that should be lovely flosey. we are taking two of the grandkiddies out for the day tomorrow, then on sunday my bros, their families and we are meeting up for lunch.
now that is one smart move,Rose - OUT for lunch
yup, that means all the ladies have the day off. * grin *
very nice
ENJOY
oh we will, thanx. poor don has never met a family like mine. we all get along together. there are no nasty undercurrents happening which is rather lovely.
Morning all. May I please have a clue for te4-4 the 4th one? Thanks
a 13 year old
peach, golf peg + first letter of not early
Should have asked for te4-4 the 6th one. Thanks much ruru.
what ruru said, going crossed eyed here
okay, counted properly. te4. te + first two letters of not early
Thanks,
Rose. My bad, should have asked for te4-4 the 6th one.
peach that is the sixth te4
Oh, I do have it now. Thanks so much Rose and ruru.
barely over 1/4 of the grid! but very tired, must get to bed, goodnight all
sweet dreams dear flosey. xoxox
Sweet dreams, Flosey.
'night flosey, rest and more rest
Peach!!! Haven
Peach!!! Haven't seen you in SO long!
Hi rose and cat!
g'day mimi!! lovely to see you.
((rose)) Just got home from the hospital. Had pancreatitis. I'm also having a weird problem with my legs especially transitioning from sitting to standing. Treated for fibromyalgia but not working. They think it might be MS...must get tested. More than a little scared.
Thus the insomnia.
oh mimi. i am so sorry to read that dear. * gentle hugs* for mimi.
Thank you, m' dear. Will deal with whatever comes...always have.
My family and friends are rallying 'round so at least I have good support.
what treatment have they tried for the FM?
Gabapentin (neurontin). It did help but is not at all correcting the problem.
Hi there, Mimi. Sorry to hear about your health problems.
mimi, have they tried intravenous magnesium?
Will put you on my prayer list.
Thanks, peach. So good to see you.
Yes, they gave me both the magnesium and potassium.
hmmmm, okay they covered all the bases. exactly what happens when you stand up?
peach, you are such a sweetheart. xoxox
My legs just don't want to transition but I fight through it and do get up...sometimes have to roll onto the arm of the couch first and push up. I can walk OK but am shaky and can only stay standing for short periods without feeling like my legs are going to give out and am also extremely tired.
Mimi, have you had polio?
mimi, i hope they find out soon. once you know you can face it. as you say, family and friends are rallying around you. but please remember, i am just on the other end of an email. anything you say will be treated absolutely confidentially.
No. I imagine they'll check for that, too, though.
Very thankful I just got my Obamacare health insurance effective March 1...that was lucky timing.
You are such a dear, rose. I'll remember that.
mimi, do you have a walker to help you move around?
oh, that is such good news mimi.
I'm having the same problems.....called Post Polio Syndrome. The doctors say it mimics MS. I'm in a wheel chair now and have to rest more than usual. But I manage that, simply because I refuse to give up.
No...haven't needed that...yet. I can walk OK...just get tired easily. I did get an elevated toilet "chair" as I cannot sit down that low.
mimi, did you see the latest antics from the workcover people?
Mimi, I just read the last couple posts you wrote so don#t know the whole story and i'm just throwing in my two cents but I had Fibro symptoms 5 years ago and didn't trust the doctors I had seen (for many reasons, won't go into it...) but I read tons of natural health websites and employed a bunch of ideas and got over it. CureZone is a great site and there's bunches more. Mainly I cut out 8
90% of sugar intake, drank 5-8 cups of green tea every day, got some great MBT shoes and walked and moved as much as possible...
lool, g'day marmar. ditto moi. i found a herbal treatment on progressive health. i bless anatrin every time i take it.
cut out all pork, more fresh food...there's lots of things you can try!
marmar, will check out that site.
Hi all. I haven't chatted here in ages but love my Babble family and think of everyone often!
Espon salts baths...essensial oils.... the list goes on and on. OH! Rooibus tea is amazing too!!
Thanks, Mar...I'll look there. I already drink lots of green tea and trying to eat mostly fresh. Not eating much meat right now as my dentist didn't make my dentures correctly and am having to "gum" my food right now.
Oh, what's aratrin?
anatrin, available from the progressive health site in USA. read what is in it.
The lady I work for is a positive fountain of information regarding natural remedies and such. She'll be a good source as well.
Bravo!
a lot of people refuse to acknowledge the marvelous cures through herbal medicine.
Just remembered, if you consume artificial sugar (diet drinks etc...) you can show symptoms of MS. If you drink those, cut them out asap!
I know, it's all here in natures pharmacy! lets get well and stay well! BRB...
Well...going to try to sleep. Have been tired but couldn't sleep. Now I can rest in the comforting wishes of my Babble family! Night, all and thanks for the support. Will look into all suggestions. Oh, I do believe in herbal remedies, rose...have been taking supplements for quite some time...especially magnesium for leg cramps and such. Hugs all around and I'm going to lie down.
look, i am a fully trained registered nurse, have worked in all levels and types of nursing. for me to turn to herbal and natural remedies took some courage, i can tell you.
sweet dreams, dearest mimi.
good morning!
Bless you Mimi! Goodnight!!
xoxox {{hugs}} my darling ruby
The sun has come out and I've already dealt with the painter and his wife, the housekeeper who left early and barking dogs.
What a morning!
ugh!! so agree, ruby, dear. you must have been very naughty as there is no re4 for the wicked.
The good news is that my Burt is much better, will soon be coming downstairs for meals thank God, so that will be a big help
but really!! so much happening!! how are you feeling this morning, dear?
Actually, you're right, I had about 15 very naughty years and do't regret a day of it!
yay for burt... how is his memory? any improvement?
I am just extremely tired. The old "get up and go" has surely left. Maybe if it ever gets warms, I'll feel better
i hope so for your sake, dearest.
His memory is shot, but if I can eliminate 30 or 40 flights of stairs/day, at least I will feel better.
Now, I 'm waiting for the visiting nurse. Luisa built a fire, so after the nurse comes, if she okays it, B. casn hae his lunch downstairs, not in bed.
sounds good to me, ruby. maybe she will help him down the stairs?
Nurse just arrived,1 1/2 hrs early. He gets down the stairs alright but after he goes u, he has pain
And I'm always afraid he'll fall on his way down.
ask her, ruby.
dinner ready. bbl. xoxox
hoof motninh sll
or... good morning all, with the fingers all on the correct keys
snf hoof motninh to you! Looks like Welsh
hehehe you think that is the key to understanding welsh? Retype with fingers repositioned?
hello dear ruby. How are you doing, and how is old Burt?
nurse just left and although he's doing better, one of the incisions is still not closed, hence, the meals upstairs continue
Happily, his daughter is coming on the 20th for 9 days and she can take care of him a little and give me some time to myself
I am glad to hear he is doing better and you have a nurse coming to the house, at least. But pffff it is very taxing for you. How is your chest?
My chest was much better, but now less better. Not like Dec. (no more 15+ stabs) but a steady 5 or 6, with meds
{{hugs}} my dearest sprite.
and yay for getting daughter to take care of her own father for a bit. Am still mad at her for giving you the too busy excuse. Nine days, that is good. That should give you some you-time. Make sure you don't spend it on taking care of your guest, ok?
it is a bit much for someone who is recuperating herself, alas, ruby. I wish it were different.
not to sorry. She can even drive the car, so that's a lus
worry*
rose!!!!!!!!!! *hugs* my dear friend. How are you today?
ruby, when daughter arrives, firmly inform her you need some extended down-time. or even tell her before she comes.
good. Let her shop and run stairs and cook and all.
down-time is good. Ruby's computer lives downstairs.
B. daughter is an easy guest, demands nothing and is always ready to pitch in.
yeah. sprite have had a very good day. how was your night? and what is on the books for today?
I can have her 0lant my border cheats" - geranums etc
I can point and she can dig
plant*
very good! I like that plan
good to hear, rose! Am so glad you are doing better and the infusion is doing all it promised. My night was okayish, not much on the books for today. Laundry, dog and singing lesson, methinks.
nice, sprite. just take it easy, right?
very easy. Am still feeling very weird and spaced out from dreaming. Hanging on to my first coffee for dear life, lol!
i have to sleep early tonight. taking the grandkidiies out tomorrow. fortunately i texted their mum. she had completely forgotten..
oops. Busy schedules no doubt. Yeah, make sure you get plenty of sleep so you can enjoy the day with the kiddies. How lovely :)
and poor don. i really don't know what he thinks with. i had to remind him he had to put an easter package together for his daughter who lives interstate. i had to remind him it was his jocks and sleepwear wash day. i had to remind him he was going to set up the new microphones in the church. i had to remind him to have lunch...aaagghhh!!
lololllll darling... why on earth should he remember anything when he has you to remind him of it? He will only learn if you let him fence for himself.
*rolls ey4* yeah, i hear you. but some things just have to be done on time. i couldn't bear Kat;s disappointment if she didn't get her easter package from her dad.
yeah, and that is how it works. I know, I tend to do the same kind of things. Because we think ahead and cannot bear the consequences, we act as living agenda books for our beloveds.
if anything was unimportant i would have left it alone. but all those things were necessary.
when Burt was still reading and helping, I used to leave hi note every morning. No more!
no, he has gotten too old for that, alas, ruby. *hug*
The good thing about leaving notes was that I didn't have to be such a shrill nag!
ah well, rose, at least you and I are blessed in that our guys do many things for us as well. No harm in a division of labour. Poor ruby is more of a caretaker nowadays.
yesterday, if you can believe this, B. received a huge enveloe fromhis previous wife containing old letters (nastily annotated), photos, documents, etc. plus a long letter about his failings and MR+E! Can you imagine bearing that much resentment so many years later?
ME!*
omg that is so so sad. For him, and for her as well. The only thing worse than getting such a letter from her is to BE her.
He wouldn't even read it
Of course, she has no idea of his state, nor would I dream of giving her the satisfaction
good for him. Keep the photos and documents, throw out the letter unread. Smart move.
good for him, ruby. keep any photos which may appeal to him later. burn the re4.
oh my...snap sprite
snap, my dear soul sister
She is filled with incredible bitterness and thinks that I am a terrible villain. Their marriage was basically over when he and I started working together
and he left her VERY well fixed financially
yeah, by painting you as a marriage wrecker she doesn't have to look her own failings as a wife in the eye, nor how they let their marriage get to the point where it was crashing. Easy, to scapegoat you.
it's just a shot in the dark, ruby. phooey to her.
*giggles* Send her a lovely card. "Want him back? I can drop him off if you like." Not that you would, of course... but just for the fun of it.
B. and I were best friends for a long time and, happily, we had some very good years together
love sprite's idea...roflol...but as she says...probably not the best thing to do.
it is great that you have some really good memories of him and you, ruby. You need them, to power you through this sad phase.
no, it would be cruel to Burt. But I, for one sec, pictured his ex-wife's face.
ditto here sprite.
:D
no no, I would give her any opening. She has no idea that he can no longer use his computer and has probably sent him to** of nasty letters, hence her frustration buildup
waahhh. i am so due for my haircut. this mop on top is driving me crazy...lol...yeah i know, short drive.
lovely idea, that all her venom is ending up in a void. It is where it should land.
ruby, do you recognise her writing when a letter arrives?
yes, but I show them to his daughter when she gets here because many of the vituperations are against her, too.
I doubt she needs that in her life
ruby, i strongly advise you to burn unopened anything from her.
Not at this address.
I have to go make lunch
amen to that. Very empowering to do that. And liberating. Not allowing the poison to drip in.
bye, my friends xx
hi zooz! *hugs* dear man. How have you been?
ok ruby, enjoy lunch!
hi and bye zzoozz. see you later
i was once associated with a man who told me my 6 year old son was evil, for goodness sake. when he wrote me a letter in an envelope marked personal...i immediately burned it unread. haven't heard from him since.
Hello :-)
I am well thank you.Hope you are all well too :-)
good for you, rose. Some people are too vicious to have in your life.
xoxox zooz, my mate.
I am fine, thanks :)
zooz, super good here...lolol
That is what I like to hear, Rose :-)
zooz, we have been watching the latest episodes of antiques roadshow. the things people find at car-boot sales.it is jaw-dropping.
Glad to hear that, Spritey :-)
:D
I watched antiques road show last night too..lol
it's strange sprite. for me to dispose of an unopened letter like that is nothing short of miraculous. i am such an inquisitive person.
i often think of you, zooz, at your carboot sales.
I hear ya, rose! But the only smart thing to do with vitriol letters. Well done.
Yes that should be starting up again soon!
the carboot sales don't happen all year round there? they do here. it depends on your determination as to whether you go or not.
sort of hard to have a carboot sales when it rains so hard your boot becomes a swimming pool. Guess we get more rain here, lol.
of course, sprite. duh, me!!
*giggles*
Plus it gets too cold for people to walk around and browse.
yeah, we usually have below zero temps,r ose
solution...move over here....year round carboot sales....surely that is an incentive?
Good morning, everyone:)
g'day crossy
what would be a real incentive is your company, lol. And imagine, if your health keeps improving... we can actually walk and have fun
hey crossy *hug*
zooz, sprite...that way you get carboot sales to your hearts content....and i get two good friends where i can reach them easily...
((Rose, Sprite))
*ey4 roll* again sprite.
howdy, zooz:)
oh, to live where you can have year-round car boot sales:)
hey crossy, come on over, and bring elegant with you of course.
Sorry babble reset time so went and checked emails..lol
I would be happy to live where my body parts do not fall off when it hits minus 40;)
Hello, Crossy :-)
sounds good to me, Rose :-)
Wish I could, Rose
I think yor country is beautiful, Crossy..But way too cold for me during winter months..lol
same here. I really wouldn't mind emigrating, I think.
it would not pain me too deeply to say goodbye to snow:)
what made you move/stay in canada crossy?
I would, however, need a nice a/c unit every time it goes over 80F
We came here from the U.K in 1966, rose, and have been here ever since
as i said, what made you make that decision?
the year I was born
There was no work for my da at the time, and Canada was touted as the land of opurtunity, so since my da had an uncle living here already that could sponsor him, we came over
omg, sprite. you are almost the same age as my beloved robyn...what are the chances?
the Big Guy works in mysterious ways, rose :)
crossy, where abouts in the UK were your family living then?
Watford, a town just a bit outside of London
if i get too nosy, crossy, just tell me to back off.
it is no problem, rose
xoxox crossy
I still use a U.K passport:)
now why do i know the name watford?
because you would give him whatfor?
LOL
LOLOL
Phantom : Tyrants.
My mum died in 1991, and I had to do some sudden travelling. It was faster and easier to get a U.K passport than apply for a Canadian one at the time. it has the up side of making it very easy to visit and live in any of the "colonies" :))
yeah, zooz. i so wanted that to be a word.
It is expensive to get a passport thee days.
my problem was a matter of time. even though canada does expidite passports due to a death in the family, i was able to get a u.k passport in just 4 days
wow that is quick!
sprite, how you doing with the grid? for me it was so good...i easily attained over 320 on my first run through...
Rose, you are the babbler we all aspire to be:) If I get 200 today, I shall be happy:)
The UK passports here only last for about 10years then you have to renew them.Well it was the last time I renewed.
going great, nearing the end even. It is a lovely grid.
loon
oops
Who you clling that!
BIG grid!
I am on 256 at the moment.
Hello, Scrabs :-)
Howdy, scrabby
G'day, mates.
hi Scrabs! :) Yeah, huge, but not at all hard.
lol zooz
oh for goodness sake, crossy. aspire to be volleymomdee or ruru or mollyl or haz or so many others. they are so much better than i am.
I will not finish but I love typing away like a maniac.
I still want a 600+ as i missed the last one :-(
indeed, Scrabs, I love that too.
g'day scrabs
poor zooz. Let's hope for a really big one on a weekend day again
I have asked for a babble upgrade. lets hope Dr_G reconsiders my proposal
I like your proposal, Crossy.
Is this for the extra weekend grid, Crossy?
DrG has mostly left babble behind. Just the upkeep.
oh, my!! i hope you can imagine what don just did to me!! legs trembling, lips burning...
i think it would be amazing. A 10x10 one thousand- 3500 word weekly grid in addition to the daily grid.))
If there were an S in the upper right corner this grid would be larger.
CROSSY!!! wash your fingers and mind!! heaven forbid!!
I can imagine, Rose..lol
Oh, naughty, naughty rose:)
No i am all for it, Crossy!
hey!! i'm not naughty!! it was don !!
nice, rose. Sounds like a good one. Was it as good for Don?
On days when the daily is tiny, you can just pop over to the weekly. I think it is a grand idea:))
ummm, i think so, sprite
sure it was don...
it would be 426 words then, Scrabs
hey crossy!! i like the idea...a daily AND a weekly..
I think so too, crossy. And not too much work for drG either.
Yes, keep the regular grid as well:)
How on earth do you work that out, Sprite!
and updating the dictionary without losing our dear babblets should be easy enough. Copy and paste the new one into the old one, and use the result.
A guess
zooz, don't ask...but too late...you did...* sigh *
sorn
I figure 3500 would be the max, because that is 500 words a day. We have to eat and sleep sometime:)
Free word!
exactly, Sprite
Well next time try giving one i do not already have, Scrabs..lol
crossy, we did have the 744 word grid...multiply that by 7...
back in da days, zooz, I often gave stats for babble... before the pro days. I would post total words, breakdown for first letter, and number per word length. And total words. I used my old script :D
Yummy that sounds great, Rose!
lol! 744 a day would be too much!!
noooo rose... that would be a monthly, not a weekly!
yup, zooz, mind blowing, yes??
I would never be ab4 to work that type of stats out, Sprite. My brain is not that clever..lol
Good morning all.
good morning sukee :)
Whoa.... biggie.
Well, I put the bug in Dr_G's ear. Time will tell if it takes hold or not:/
g'day sukee
Hello, sukee :-)
Howdy, sukee
oh zooz, I am not that clever. Someone wrote me a script, back then. I simply used it.
sukee, take a deep breath dear...not as bad as it looks, dear.
Well i think you are clever so there :-)
*grin* thanks, dear friend.
sukee, it is a lovely grid. It will fly by.
Lots of typing practice I guess :)
hehehe indeed
Hi sukee
We had driving snow yesterday, but it did not lie and it is gone.
It snowed here much of yesterday too.
need to go to bed. have taken my meds and yawning....hugely. xoxox to all my babble friends.
teal
been
I went through town yesterday on way to parents and bought some choccies..chatted to the till person. When i got to parents they said what is that on your jumper.I looked down and there was three large white strwak marks.I had brushed my teeth just before going out and had some how dribbled it all down my jumper. It looked like a pigeon had crapped on me..lol
slob
Good morning aebmusica
Have a sweet sleep,Rose.
streak*
Silly zooz
And toothpaste is impossible to get out without washing it.
poor zooz...i have had the same thing happen to me. xoxox
night night rose, sweet dreams *hugs*
Take care Rose
ummmm aeb, other window?
Hello, Aebmusica.
[[hugs}} sprite. xoxox
xoxox sukee
awwww zooz, poor you. Yeah, I think we all know that feeling :(
someone please say bye to crossy for me.
Woke up too early today. I was looking at the alarm from 4 AM and drowsing.
Will do, Rose :-)
and i am outta here. enjoy the grid. xoxox
That is way too early, Sukee..Cat waking you up again?
No, can't blame the cat today.
ugh, that is still night in my book
bye rose, have an awesome day tomorrow with the kiddies!
I got up yesterday at about 0500am..bad dreams for me though..lol
I am having a series of bad dream nights as well, zooz. Is it storming, overthere?
I haven't had a bad dream for a while. Worst I had was my kitchen sink overflowing since I have had problems with it in the past.
Well we have had high winds for the last couple of days.and looking moody at times (sky)
not pleasant, but doable, sukee
it is storming here. My girl is having bad dreams too. Guess we are sensitive to the weather that way.
I had a bad dream with my old boss, Dr Richard Head, in it. He was bullying me as he used to do.
Well, I have to run.
I was on a massive cargo ship and it started to list badly..yet it was in a canal type waterway as the walls was high around the ship so no way of listing in reality but it was a dream so anything is possible..lol.It was terrifying!
That is not nice at all, Scrabs :-(
oh my, I remember mr dickhead. He was such a bully to you.
enjoy your day, sukee :-)
ugh zooz, nasty :(
bye sukee, have a grand day
I remember snippets of that , Scrabs but can not remember the whole story of it. Not a nice guy at all.
Crossy is back. Had to make my beloved a coffee:)
this grid makes me wanna have a stiff drink all of a sudden
mmm...booze;)
awwww you are such a sweetheart, crossy. And your elegant is a lucky woman.
You're a good man, crossy :--)
I try to be:)
*hugs* you are succeeding.
I am now on 298 fund so far.

am filling in the last blanks
blank spots, that is, not blank tiles
I found 100 and must get ready for work. Bye kids.
have a good day at work, Scrabs.

toodle pips, Scrabs :-)
sorry about that random letter. When I typed it, it had a word attached, or so I thought
lol @ be4/6 and te9 in one grid
I have found so many words with the double vowel in it.
Yes it is a bit strang that..lol
lickety for the last 10
I might go to it at 50.
nice going, zooz
I still can nnot see why we can't have oaty..as it has an oaty flavour.
yeah. Makes perfect sense to me
fireflies
Congrats, Spritey!
that was a fun run. Anything I can help with before I go?
No I will be fine. But thank you :-)
ok, *hugs* for my friends then. And may you all have a blessed day and a peaceful night.
Hope you have a great day, Sprite!
tc, sprite and have a good day:)
note
oops
I should really look at the time stamps;she has been gone almost ten minutes now:)
Easily done, Crossy :-)
surprising thing is that I have yet to find a single eagle nest variant. there seems that there should be at least one word from that category:)
ah, found one :)
I have 10 ey words if that is what you mean?
Hi all :)
Hello, Liz :-)
I only have 9 ey words - grrr!
Not sure Zoom. Eagles nest starts with ae and there are only two ae words, neither having to do with a nest.
I thought an eagles nest is called an eyrie?
Do you have ey7, Liz?
I agree with that - perhaps that's a UK spelling - ae is an alternative.
Thanks Zooz - just found it as you entered that.
Ah i see.
Glad you found the last ey word, Liz :-)
You guessed which I was missing!
I said a varriant on the word, not one that means exactly that
Is yours with an ae or ey, Crossy?
What's wrong with oaty? Or even oatey? Describes my granola mix or porridge.
Just an ey 4. I should have not even mentioned it since , no, it is in no way an eagle nest:))
Yeah I did, Liz! I suppose i was working on the fact that small first then leading to bigger..so to help i would assume you have found the smaller ones first..So thought i wou;d go for the large one!
Spooky!
I have 10 minutes and must head out anyways
I said that, Liz earlier. Oaty is so a word!
Good logic :)
Hey it is all okay, Crossy!
:)
Teaching still going well?
Yes, Liz, it is going very well:)
When do you finish for the Easter break?
The kids are off from Thursday to the following Monday
:)
So it's not a long break in Canada?
Here and in the UK, the kids and teachers get 2 weeks.
Long enough. half of these student will forget how to read in that length of time;))
I swear i never got two weeks off school when I was a wee nipper.
LOL Crossy...so funny!
Perhaps Zooz - but I remember a longer summer break when I was young than when I was teaching.
lol Crossy
I have one young lady, about 19, who proudly states that the book given for her novel study is the very first book she has ever read!!
Wow that is so sad!
It is:((
Really sad - but has it perhaps turned her onto reading?
Yeah I remember getting almost 7 weeks off in the summer, Liz!
Up till now I imagine the bulk of her reading is from the sides of make-up containers;/
Clue for ne 8 pls?
Probably not - probably just how to microwave a meal.
what you catch fish in + the ending is the same as the EY7
Thanks, Zooz
Not thinking enough about that ending.
Welcome.
So, Her very first complete novel read is going to be Of Mice and Men:)
Yay for Steinbeck.
I fear a lot of the children will start to spell in text mode as in ' I am gr8
You are most likely correct, zooz
They were already doing that pre 2008, when I was teaching.
O.K I must get ready to head out. Take care, all, and happy Babbling!
you too, Crossy.Have a great day :-)
Have a good day Crossy.
How are you keeping, Liz?

Has spring made an appearance yet?
Yes thank goodness..it should not be too long now for nice warm weather.

Hello, Teach :-)
Used to love all the bright colours of spring.

I will shut up now
Never!
I have but to be honest was never interested history.
OK...100 left and I have to get out of this horrid chair. HAGD everyone! ((group))
Which is a shame as I do tend to like history now.
after richard III, nobody wanted to use that name again
Have a great day, Car :-)
Well, no one wanted to be the 4th Dick
Here is another proper name in the grid: an author William _____ who wrote a famous book about depression, "Darkness Visible"
Good morning, all!

Hello, Judi :-)

More famous for Sophie's Choice, I think

tsk tsk tsk scrab

ahoy aloy!
enjoying some potato leek soup as a late breakfast
nice
on my first cuppa... food to come
tadone!! finito! whew!
wahoo for dawg, congrats!
yay lbd!
kje--I SO dislike adolescents and the females are the worst!
!!!!!Hooray!!!!
Agree with Scrabs.
hi and ty, alloy, kje, hero
ugh! teenagers of either sex.
drama queens and spoiled prncesses, scrabs?
I like talking with the nice teenagers but those are not the ones that I need to connect with. The ones that have crossed over to the dark side most need my help but I rarely can reach them.
ahyes, we were once there ourselves, how did our Mothers survive!!
I will take a teenager any day ater having to deal with a 93 year old drama queen.
Yes, dawg--emotional tornados, self-absorbed, ugh!
Oh, Bzzn. I took my 83 yr old mother to doc appts twice in the last 4 days--walker, wheelchair, getting in and out of the car...not easy.
I kind of like the old folks. At least they've earned their stripes.
I was a nice, calm adolescent and caused no problems for my parents. Queen of the Nerds.
You are an exception, Scrabs.
Must go...later.
I know. I was a typical firstborn--responsible, focused on school.
We are looking or an assisted living place or mom, but may need nursing home soomer than we think.
bye hego
Oh, no Bea. I want to keep my mother home til the end, whenever that may be. Her skeleton is ravaged by arthritis and that is her only health issue.
Mom continues to have TIAs and will not take the meds dr has prescribed.
If things become unsafe then there is no other choice.
how long do you hold a spot for a tardy patient before making them reschedule, Scrabbs?
She refuses to stay out of the basement, off of the roof, out behind the steering wheel...
ty for ba 6 and ba 7 krill catcher, scrabby
15 minutes for a "well visit", but we always see late sick kids. We cannot make a sick kid suffer because their parent is irresponsible.
Sure, Crossy.
I still need 16 more B's.
If she is 93 and on the roof, she is doing well... I wanna be just like her
at 93 I hope just to be able to make it in and out of the bathtub without breaking something;)
She lives in a very rural place. It takes EMS 40 minutes to get to her. Closest neighbor is three miles away.
Haha, kje. But do you recommend capes?
Bzz, check out aplaceformom.com
Thanks, lbd. We are working with them already.
they seem to be a very compassionate organization.
it is hard - she is 93, she wants her independence, while her loved ones worry... but she made it to 93 with her obstinence and that is what will keep her going. Sounds like she wants to die in her boots. This is not an unusual scenario. To the degree possible, I'd try hard to allow her to age (and die) in place
help with the first en7/28 pls?
I've been looking, phaeton, can't see it
ah, and there it is
en5/10 + not off
en7 - go in + not off
to trap!
We are considering that as well, kje. No one wants her to leave her home.

Howdy, aloy:)
Ooh, ty for oe8
Best thing we ever bought was a cannister vac with a hepa filter. no more hunting down exotic, hard to find bags;)
I am having my 2 bathrooms renovated--new vanities, vanity tops, shower stall, bathtub and decided I may as well get those new comfort toilets that are raised up.
done
Do not forget a heated towel bar
howdy crossy.. as I am planning menus before grocery shopping, thought I'd text the mom and ask if her family has any food allergies or major dislikes.. well ! glad I asked.. she gave me a list of 11 to avoid !
Nice warn towels the second you step out of the shower;)
warm*
heated floors are nice too
Heated towel bar?
Yup, towel heaters are all the rage now;)
I cannot afford heated floors...unless I buy a winning lottery ticket.
Aloy---wow! 11 food allergies?
Thought I saw kits at Home Depot for decent prices
They start at $200 and got to $1500.00 dollars or so, scrabby. just google them
http://tinyurl.com/qdeeffl
bbl, keep getting kicked off, aargh.. 17 to go
Too much $ for me.
170 to go
hagd/e everyone! must be off to do other things.
Bye dawg. Enjoy the day!
no, Scrabbs.. just aversions to.. tomatoes, mayo, olives, squash, zucchini, corn, potatoes, strawberries, peaches, "obvious onions" and anything spicy.. arrgh.. picky eaters are no fun to cook for
the only one that sticks out for me is potatoes. usually everyone can handle tatties;(
"Aversions"--haha. I say teach kids to eat what they are served, to show respect to the cook and the food.
I'd ask for allergies only. Aversions are their problems! But that's Nel the b***ch speaking
well, now that my computer seems to be finished with its little tantrum, maybe I can stick around and finish the grid.. will try.. hi ruby!
Hi Ruby
yup, that is the way we were raised.. eat it or go hungry
hi alloy.
agreed, Ruby. i will respect allergies, but not a nit-picker
This has been the worst few months of my whole life! But some tulips opened today with hiacinths and daffs, so I feel encouraged
Small things have a way of restoring us;)
you don't somebody with a food allergy drying at your bounteous table but the rest --- pffft!
don't want*
Picky eating is a misunderstood condition. I mean, imagine a food you REALLY hate. Like for me, it's sauerkraut. Trying to eat it without vomiting is nearly impossible after one or two bites. For some people, there are just a lot more foods that cause that reaction.
looked up a newbie: sn5.10, "to yield meekly", ends with what you swim in at a city park
morning all, could someone please clue me on the second st 7/28
well, I seem to have tastebuds that react strongly to aspartame and other artificial sugars; I actually do get a nauseous feeling
That's probably a healthy one to have.
have you tried steva?
second 7/28 please
Those phony sweeteners are a chemical nightmare that is best avoided imho
Most picky eaters are enabled by their parents.
looking button
hi sue.. yes - milder reaction for sure.. Button, I will look, not sure which one..
On a personal note i cannot stand fried zucchini
there are three st 7's and this is the middle one I cannot find....i have searched and searched
you know sugar is more not bad for you in moderation. At it tells your body you had sugar, unlike the fake stuff. That is why people use more fake stuff and feel less satisfied.
don't have it, but I'll hunt with you
my friend is turning me onto coconut sugar, i will let you all know if i like it. I do like coconut milk in my coffee, i tried it this morning.
coconut milk is soooo good
I know that st7 comes from the top s
i hacvent found anything above a 5 and I just barely started
the second sty is a plural of the st6
I just got an 8 that I didn't think would work when I was trying it. NE8. How much income can you earn after taxes, would be how much is ne8? Or, a fish that can be caught in a certain way...?
st6 is st + what movies are stored on
ty kje my first; 6
st7 not sty

we missed you too, Ata
We missed you too, Atalante, and all of the original Babblers.
When horribleness occurs here I just ignore it or lurk.
ah well, back now. won't be every day and I get to go away for several weeks at a time with my job, but will definitely be around
how are your bunnies?
Ata, you and I joined Babble back in June, 2004!

I was talking to a friend who has a friend with *40* indoor bunnies!

WOW 40 bunnies is a lot
Three bunnies died from June-Feb but I have 2 now. My youngest, Remy, need to get neutered because he is humping me a lot. I rescued him in Nov and he is 2 now.

rotfl ruru
I'm sorry :(
40 bunnies is a lot of poop to clean up...in litter boxes I hope.
Remy is a great name!
Typical Ruru entry.
I am hungry, bbs
He is a mini-Rex, tri-colored, and since the Rexes were first bred in France I gave him a French name.
I love seeing photos of your adventures in the ocean and on the beach, Atalante.
oh! like a tortoiseshell cat!
I do seem to be very lucky with my life at the moment
Yes--mostly white, with blotches of bacl, orange, and brown.

My first e7 = en + to trap

en 7 to trap
she has a gorgeous little kitten to adore and look after :)
Eye-candy, Ruru?
I have seen her photos and he is adorable.
<---thought he'd go the other direction with a sexist comment
Stay consistent, Ruru.
I'm not seeing the second half of the handsome man word (all I can think of is candy...)
I see it now--visual sensory organ + ab4
Aaah - gotya! :)

That's it!
Well, I already had it and for anyone that doesn't you gave a free clue.

I am done with work for the day and will now go see my ophthalmologist. Great to see you here, Atalante!

yes -- I was looking at the 64GB asus android for 199
Look at www.tigerdirect.com as well
they were at best buy, but none left
did look at tiger direct
That is a good price!
Can you do a rain check?
clue for the ey 7/44 please?
have a good question for you though -- does the android os interface with win 7 in a home network?
no -- it was a clearance price
possible to see
they do.. to a point. You can move books, movies, pictures and other video around
that's all I need
Games that are notr flash games will be OS specific
I move books and pictures and my vid cam stuff around all the time

Just got back from the hospital with a bout of pancreatitis. But the worst thing is that my legs aren't working well and I have a lot of trouble transitioning from sitting to standing and get very tired quickly. They're thinking MS so am going to get tested.
Chicken manure is better for collecting.
poor mimi! :((
Oh dear, mimi. I have hyperparathyroidism and am currently a bit stiff in the joints so I sympathise
It's really awful...I can only stand for a short time before it feels like my legs will give out. A bit scary.
My friend of 50 years has had MS for many years since she was 30. If it is any comfort it has only just begun to affect her walking. She has been in remission otherwise.
nasty malady. get well soon
Pancreatitis is no fun either. that could well have left you weak
Well, my walking is being affected now. It's extremely difficult to get up stairs and I live on the second floor. I hope they have medication that helps.
My beloveds aunt dealt with MS for 35 years and it only became seriously debilitation in the last 5 years or so.

No, jaxx, the leg problem came first. Yes, pancreatitis is nothing to mess with....that's what nearly killed me 17 years ago, oddly enough.

Hello, I am new to this game and don't quite understand a lot about it. I did read the scoring but don't understand much of the chat. Please help me a bit. Tx!
sure, joyful...what can we help with?
Do we have 24 hours to complete the puzzle or does it start over if we come back to try to work on it?
(PS: Welcome aboard, too!)
TY!
You have 24 hours to complete the grid...it turns over every day at 10:00 PST.
you can come and go during that time as many times as you wish :)
What are the benefits of becoming a Friend of Babble? Is that the only way to get clues, etc?
Yes, joyful...becoming a Pro (paid) player allows you access to a clue list; however, it's not required to work the grid (unless you want better odds on finishing)! :)
...and becoming a paid player means you pay a one-time low fee of $14.99 for a lifetime membership.Yes, that's right, just one payment will do it!
It's a great game and you meet lots of really interesting people!! :)
Ok, thanks a lot Pini, much appreciated!
I've been here since 2008!! ...and it's well worth it! :)
As a member, you can also click on member icons and check out their "profiles." :)
Now, as for clues...if someone says something like: ro4 ... that means they're looking for a 4-letter word starting with "ro"...a clue might be: ro4 = the top of a house
also you can "lurk" and just get to know everybody but not say anything yourself. YOu'll enjoy Crossy, Ruru, others.
...and I'll hush now so as not overwhelm you too much! Just ask away if you have more questions! :)
RB!!! What are you doing listening to my presentation?!?!?! LOL

and here I was, lurking. You were giving good explanations. My daughter keeps this open on her screen, adds words during the day, but seldom comes on chat unless to explain a v hard word--she's a word person. I am too but slow. She is Rastapoplus--familiar if you know Tintin.
ah...yes, I recognize Rasta's name...
Isn't there another player with a similar name that has written a book or two?
I don't think I ever filled out a profile. I write books. my web is roundbarnstories.com
Ah, yes...you are the same player; however, we may not have formally chatted before. I know about your barn book through chats about them. :)
I must be the one you are referring to. I've written quite a few books, considering teaching full time, raising kids, etc. I'm now finishing the last book of one I promised my grampa when I was 15.

I am feeling very UN-awesome today, roundbarn. I had a meeting after school about a student and wondering how I am managing to miss all sorts of things instead of "jumping" on them ASAP -- of course, I KNOW it's my first year in this grade, but I feel completely overwhelmed and under water. :-) Other than that, I suppose I have promise.
Pini is AMAZING! Grant and I were talking about the amazing babble cake we made when you visited.
Roundbarn, if you ever find your way to this coast, look us up!
Oh, Stid, you definitely have promise! You're awesome and you'll get it! Sometimes the best things just have a slight learning curve before they become terrific!!! :)
I would LOVE to meet Nef -- she sent me some books after the fire, and I still have one on my bedside table, a sort of security blanket.
you're going to make me blush, stid!!!
and I better sign off now if I'm going to do anything tomorrow. The flip here is midnight, I have to close the computer and not get trapped. But there's a gang that comes on at the flip and the clues fly like--well, I'm out of creative similes. Wait, I didn't enter this. are you on the w coast, Stidm? I have a daughter v near Santa Crus. Aand now I recall, Sue is physics.
Thanks for unlurking, RB...it's been a pleasure chatting with you!! :)
sweet dreams, roundbarn -- hope to see you again soon!
I am in the Pac NW, north of Pini, south of Bugsaw
Love the PNW!!! :)
And Stid, I know what you are going through with the teaching. Sometimes it is very discoraging, especially at the start. I had two classes teaching writing that were failures, but then I learned what I was doing wrong. you gotta keep on keeping on, Pinikula, it's been a pleasure talking to you, too, and Stidmama whom I've only watched and watched. And felt for.

Sorry to abandon you, Pini, but it's going to be a VERY long day tomorrow. Likely won't be home until close to midnight (will explain next time I "see" you). Be well, and think about the plastic camo "eggs" I saw at the store this weekend, and almost picked up to send to your grandson! :-)
so much for heading out, roundbarn! LOL *Poof*
sorry, one last word. Isn't it Molly who stocks the penalty box?
No worries, Stid...take it easy! Chin up!! You're awesome! cya next time :)
Not sure who, RB...but I've spent plenty of time there myself! :)
