I guess it's haz's grid?
I would have thought it would have stopped at thirty?
haven't seen Haz in a long time, have you?
nope .. not me
wow, went away for a bit and nothing's been said since! has everyone finished?
good morning all
goedemorgen, Sprite :-)
hello zooz, dear man! A very good morning to you too! How are you today?
Ik ben goed dank u,en je?
hehehe... met mij gaat het goed, dank je, en met jou? Met mij gaat het ook goed :)
Oh goodness...hang on let me put it through, google..lol
lol first part is a correction on your message. Last part is the answer... I am fine too :D
Bloody google is useless.
too true. Good for words. Not so good for sentences.
Ah well..thought it would be nice for you to have someone else writing in dutch. But hey ho..lol
Where have all the large grids gone :-(
I am fine = met mij gaat het goed thank you = dank je and you = en met jou?
yeah, I hear ya. Smallish and pretty easy the last few days.
oh and I really appreciate the effort, zooz! Very sweet of you.
Ahh google just put En Jou and missed out ' met'
yeah that is because we phrase things differently. English asks 'how are you' and dutch asks: 'how is it with you'
I am always in admiration for people who can speak or write in more than just there own language, Sprite. something i just did not bother with when I was young and had found to be very very hard to try and learn whn i am now older..lol
oh yes, that is true. Very tough to start learning foreign languages at a more mature age. The brain is just not programmed to do so then.
I remember trying about 20 years ago and went onlie to talk to someone in Holland and I said "aangenaam om met u kennis te maken" but I must of spoken it all wrong as she replied what on earth are you trying to say..lol
hahahaha yeah that is the other part... the pronunciation. Dutch is tough for english-speaking people. All those Gs and Rs are so very different. As are the vowels.
I had about twenty tapes and it was one of those listen..say..repeat ones.alas I failed badly..lol
aw poor zooz! *hugs*
Yes I find all the phelmy back of the throat scraping sound words very very very hard..lol
I bet, lol. We dutchies have all the benefits. We learn lots of sounds early on in life, and are taught several foreign languages in school early on as well. Makes it a lot easier.
I rememeber being on an overnight ferry to France And a little child was talking to his mother. He went from french to english and vice versa so fluently I was gob-smacked at how easy he found it.It was so natural for him.
I was born in the wrong country then, Sprite..lol
awwww priceless
yes you were! Because if you had been born here, I could easily visit you for a cuppa!
Teehee! that would of been wonderful!
absolutely. Well, who knows, one day. You are definitely a lot closer than rose and puglet :D
This is true..you never know...one day..maybe one day :-)
Talking of, Rose, not seen her on here today.
I had a easter message from, Puglet, But not seen her on here for an age.
rose is at the church, they have movie night tonight
ooh very nice. What picture are they watching..Do you know?
and pugs just wrote me an email. All is going well, just terribly busy. And she is sleeping much better, which means she cannot make it to our chat at this time.
just checked rose's email, lol. She didn't tell me which movie this time. Sorry.
Well I hope she will enjoy it.
yeah me too. Otherwise it is a long sit for her. Usually they hang around after it is finished, talk a little more with the vicar, and Don helps to clear the room again.
aw spanish is not valid :( Stupid capitals
I know tried that earlier..lol
Well even though I knew spain was not valid I still tried that as well.
lol just like I did, no doubt: Yayyy found a biggie.... darn I mistyped it.... repeat... huh... oh darn it, it needs a capital.
Thats about how it goes..lol
you just KNOW you just made me try spain myself, don't you?
That's*
teehee!
such a weird tendency, that. As if the grid will behave differently for me than for you, lol.
I do have a thing when other babblers put there phantoms into the chat log.I just have to type the word into the add word box..lol
It is a habit i have.
ohhh same for me! Cannot help myself.
Just found a horrible S word from the bottom tile.
the cruel one?
Yep.
Normally the ending is a good word.
Like an ology :-)
yay! another 6 letter word down then :D I have a whopping 3 so far. And no 7s or 8s. I amaze myself even, today, in my biggie blindness.
ohhhh yes, -ology is a great ending.
I have 7 sixes but no 7 or 8 yet.
over twice as good as me
Ah but I have been here longer :-)
si8/50
hehehe :D
hello DTins, sorry, cannot help you yet with that one... don't have any 8s yet
Thank you, Dtins :-)
oh... ugh. Blonde moment. Thank you DTins, I mean.
Oh sorry.I thought, Dtins was letting us know the stats for an 8...my bad.
hahaha okay I am now confused...LOl
I think you were right and I was being stupid
I have now found a seven!
good job!
My cup of tea helped..plus the good company here :-)
*grins* Why thank you, good sir! My cup of coffee isn't doing much yet.
A quick hi and hugs - iPad down to 2% so won't last long. Make that 1% now!
Hello, ((Liz)) hope you get this message before the ipad plonks out on you!
lol... hello dear Liz *hugs* for you and your beloved, before you go POOF
Too lazy to head into the other room where my putter is!
Puter
No golf here!
you need a charging cable at your bedside
I have but like to let battery run down. In lounge now.
di 7/40 ?
I saw a funny photo on the internet yesterday.there was a son a daughter and a father sitting on the sofar..They all had a piece of paper held up for the photo and on the sons one he held up in one hand an ipod and the written paper saying so.The daughter held up the paper saying ipad and she was holding up her ipad. The father held up his paper looking all glum the words on his paper had. ipaid...LOl
ipad plugged into 'puter now - time to sync it!
lol!
Sorry gran - don't have it/
lollll funny zooz
hello gran, me neither
DI+ different stages of the moon.
still looking for that si8, lol. Can you give me a tiny nudge, zooz, please?
44 left here - 6 x 7s and all the 8s - not very good :(
That is the one 7 I found :-)
awesome, thanks zooz
Errm no, Sprite as it was the DI7 that I had found..no 8 yet!
I am even worse, Liz
although I do now have the AP 7
But you've not been at it long - well not at this grid, anyway!
lol
Do you have the za 7?
nope. Just the one di7 that zooz clued
Crazy word - lol!
hahaha I did not know there was one..but once you put the stats up I found it just like that!
Found it and finished!
Congrats, Gran
Congrats, Gran!
gratz gran
I thought the stages of the moon ended in an e?
It does.
yes it does, Liz
Not getting it!
ugh I am biggie blind today.
Sprite if you got the di7 you will easily find the in7 :-)
got the za, finally
di + when kids start puberty, they enter a new p**** in life.
Duh - Going totally in the wrong direction. Great clues, thanks Zooz.
ah, thanks again, zooz :D
I knew the word but didn't bother typing it in because I kept going to the s in the right hand column!
oh you silly Liz! Never use the grid when you think you know the word. Just type it. Worst that can happen is it won't be valid, lol.
Put it down to tiredness! I'll be glad when tomorrow's over and life gets back to what passes for normal here :)
Well I have found an sa 7 & 8
Impressed!
I can imagine. It is very intensive, Passover, isn't it? And nonstop lots of people around you too... you should be more than ready for some me-time
awesome, zooz! Care to share a tiny hint?
If Sprite shuts her ey4s, you could clue it for me!
It's a lot of work - all the preparation etc. And after it finishes getting everything back again.
compound word tree dribble + our brains are contained inthis.
sprite would very much like to keep her eyes open for a clue
Too much food as well, which is lovely but too much!!!
resinskull?
Thanks, Zooz. Great clues. But I love resinkull
Three letter word for tree dribble.
Beginning with SA
Oh sorry..LOL
Tree dribble - I love it!
oh... jeezzz am I dense or what today... ugh. Sorry, and thank you.
Teehee!
hi matty :)
Hello, matty :-)
Me too - loved the clue and sprite's word.
Just told hubby and he came up with a very rude clue!
LOl
lol, tell him I am shocked!
He laughed - so did I! He says, he's suitably apologetic but I don't believe a word of it!
I thought it was funny :-)
me neither, grin. Bet his eyes are sparkling. Never a good sign.
Well, you met him!
BTW - did Rose mention I'm hoping to meet her very soon?
that is how I know, grin
no, she didn't. How lovely!
;)
I hope it works out. I'll tell you the details in an email, but we're headed to Melbourne at some point in the not too distant future. Time to visit step son and g/f :)
ugh, finally got the si8. start with biblical sin. End in that lovely ending we discussed earlier.
wow Liz, awesome! It would be so great if the two of you could meet. Four of you, really.
Clue pls?
Yes all 4 of us it would be - really hope so.
What lovely ending would that be?
took a bit of work but got it! thanks, Sprite!
si8: start with biblical bad habit. End in movement ending. Same as the word for enjoying other people's pain sa6.
Probably the 3 letters ending in the top right corner?
Also, what Biblical sin?
My question too?
yeah, that was me putting my foot in my mouth. Biblical bad habit... is 'sin'
Makes sense - the sin bit I mean. Trying to think of another word.
First three of what sprite put+ first two letters of a fruit that adam ate + the ending for SA6
si + short sleep during the day + that ending
Got there! Thanks. And now time for dinner. See you all soon. Hugs.
good job! Enjoy dinner, Liz
Enjy your meal, Liz!
Enjoy too :-)
Will have to finish this grid later.need to have my bath and see parents.Enjoy your day, Sprite.Hope to see you soon :-)
Thanks for the compnay :-)
ty for the si 8/50, zooz. A lovely foist word for crossy:)
Company*

Hello, Crossy.you are most welcome.
*poof*
bye zooz, it was lovely chatting with you *hugs* Have a grand day
hey crossy :D
Howdy everyone else, ((sprite, rose, liz, matty, etc))
Liz is at her dinner and rose is still in church.
Howdy all! The biggies are trickies...
too true, matty. Am almost done and finally finding them, lol.
I am still looking for the ap8 and the last ap7 - am I just being blind or thick?
it is amazing here. WE went from minus 3 c yesterday to plus 16 c this morning! house got so warm, so quick we actually had the window fan going in our bedroom at one point last night because it became so stuffy in there:)
no, the ap8 is an unusual word. And so is the 7, actually.
wow crossy, how lovely
Ah - sprite, would you mind awfully clueing?
ok ap7: ap + left and right
no, not at all, matty, my pleasure
apwesteast? apdextersinister?
ap8: same first 3 letters, + vowel + alt spelling of not day
ty, sprite
(Got it :)
*giggles* Close, matty, close
The 8 can't be the first three letters of the 7/36 - it's too high up alphabetically!
Got it though :)
Thanks so much
ouch. True. First 3 of the other ap7. Let me reclue. Oh... ok! Well done!
nice to have all three 8s in the fist 5 minutes: of game play:))
Yes, yes it is! :)
first
nice going, crossy! I am finding them as my last few words, as usual.
:)
Okay I have dried my hands so no water on the laptop keyboards..The other ap7 is the word for greenfly blackfly etc but with a vowel plural.
nice clue, zooz!
Now putting laptop back down :-)
ty, zooz

anything else I may clue for you?
Not for me, Sprite. Still early going for me:)
up way to early as well. Not even 05:30 yet:/
ok :) Then I will *hug* you all, my friends. May you have a blessed day and a peaceful night. Hope to see you tomorrow!
tc, ))sprite))
I have six left and can't, at the moment, find any of them :(
poor matty:(
I am not quite half-way in, so not much help:/
Back for about 5 minutes - but I've still got 35 left, so probably also not much help - but you could try and ask?
OK - I'm missing th6/24, sp6/24, sp7/36 and all the NA words barring the 4/5, which I have (zzzz)
th 6/24 - belief in gods
God, it is so simple when you put it that way :)
Or more accurately one God
One down, five to go
ty, liz
Told you it was worth asking! sp 6/24 - pl of the 5/14 - unless there's more than one.
yw
Haven't listed yet
Yarp, there's more than one. The one I'm looking for is after the five letter word that is probably pronounced (though not spelled) as what you should do to your (female) dog or cat
Or rather ask the vet to do it for you. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself
crossy sits and watched avidly; catching the clues as they float by:))
LOL
OK - just listed so see what you're talking about. Looking now but if you find it, please clue :)
Found it!! First three letters - where you go to relax with hot tubs and the like, second three a little giggle
Now just those pesky NAs
Thanks, Matty
Just missing the na 7 - but that ought to be easy now.
Well, if you can help with any of the three NAs that aren't sleepy, I'd be grateful...
3 vowels in the middle
OK - that's two down - thanks!
River nymph
Such little clues can be such big helps
Aaaand that's fireworks
The 7 goes in between the 5 and 6
Congrats, Matty.
Thanks so much guys. Any clues needed before I go and have a smoke (and do some actual work afterwards)?
Down to 32 here but time to relax with hubby for a couple of hours before bed. Enjoy your days :)
OK, folks - have a great day then. Or evening. Or whatever !
Good morning, here for about 15 mins.
gm, everyone!
Hi lbd.

Loving all this rain. it is cleaning things up nicely:) Is kind of heavy though. We have another heavy rainfall warning for today:)
tc, sukee
Dozens of different birds filling the morning with song. Boy, have I missed them. Sipping my tea and listening to a pair of mourning doves greeting the new day:)))
Sometimes it is good to be an early bird instead of a night hawk:))
And since I am on a roll here, it is now time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!!! Hate airports? trudging around trying to find your boarding gate getting you down? hate the endless wait as six other planes are cleared for take-off before yours? Well, check out this airport, perhaps you may feel just a bit better about the one you use when travelling!...
http://tinyurl.com/pdpm889
Where is that?
Have no idea lol
If I had ever been there, i would of most certainly remembered it!
It is Courchevel Altiport, in the French Apls
Alps*
tadone!! finito! must get ready for the day. hagd/e/n everyone!
Yaa for LBD!
Will have to ask Ruby if she has ever flown there:)
Hi Crossy - that's an unbelievable photo
I guess people who dare to go skiing don't mind landing on a tiny runway at the top of a mountain
All part of the fun:)
Just wear a parachute; that way if the pilot misses his landing you can get some skydiving in as well:)

Did Bobby get my envelopes? My sister's b-day card, mailed the sasme day, also to |NY|, still hadn't arrived on Wednesday!
one envelope*
Yes, he did and he replied. He told me what to write. He loved the pictures of Ruby and Rufie. He is saving the stamps.
Is the pleurisy getting better?
I am so happy. My sister only groused that her card hadn't arrived. She's a real charmer!
It is better than it was in the middle of winter, but it is not going away and I'm still taking painkillers
Sorry to read that. I once had pleurisy, not fun.
I am looking forward to a day with no pain, although, at this point, it's hard to imagine
I know how you feel but, eventually, it will heal.

After training to be a teacher and being a technician at a local school, I think anyone who teaches kids today is very brave or very stupid.
Hiyas, kiddos. *Wondering who "Ingrid Innuendo" is. Haven't experienced this person. At least I think I haven't.
Welcome, Chrissie :-)
Not to worry, judi. Think i will just remove it. was just my rant of the day anyways
Those who have been on the receiving end will know
Hi zooz :)
How are things going with that granddaughter of yours, Chrissie
There we go, just refresh and it is all gone:)
I fly out 5 weeks today!!!!
Yaa for chrissie!
Ooh, lovely
clues for the 8s please
Hope you have a wonderful time, Chrissie!!
China is fantastic as well although I know it is the baby that is your main attraction.
sa8 is a plural.
most of the 8's were clued in the chog in the last 15 minutes, JDoggy
Thank you. I am so excited 😊
oh my -- where in China, Chrissie?
Yes, it's going to be a very expensive cuddle
Shanghai
Just be aware that the chinese eat evry part of a chicken so beware of legs sticking out of chinese dishes
best to just not ask what is in that bowl of soup...
lol
As crossy said.
you will love it -- be sure to take in some of the beautiful world heritage gardens. There is also a silk factory and an embroidery factory near Shanghai that is well worth the visit. Take your wallet to the silk factory -- some fantastic buys at their store!
if something winks at you, just poke it back under with your spoon
I envy you that trip, Chrissie.
* the factories may even be in Shanghai -- we were being bused around on our way to catching our cruise boat.
Thanks for the tips nan.... and crossie
:)
i can see it now, chrissie will eat nothing but crisps and beer for the entire visit:)
has your son and his wife settled in OK?
Yes, they are coping really well
Bit like my usual diet then
Ignore crossy :) - there are lots of restaurants that cater to western tourists!
lol
:)
Good. I know it is always a change going somewhere new but China is a world on its own
di 7 please? - last one
Class is over for the day, So I must head out. Tc, all, and happy babbling!
just don't drink the water and brush your teeth with bottled water - sanitation isn't a priority and you wouldn't want to meet Montezuma
Off to look for some food now (that is not looking back at me) bbl
bye crossy and chrissie.
Anyone have a clue for the di 7?
Di + stages of the moon, Nan.
Bye, Chrissie and crossy. take care
ty zoom
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help
Congrats, Nan!
Ty Zoom, i tried to put an a after di and it didn't work.
Most welcome, Jaxx :-)
lol - got diaphanous in my head and was trying to work around that
on my way - hagd everyone
Is the IoW all springlike. Teignmouth is so busy, it's gridlocked.
Cheerio, nan.
It is...we also have lots of traffic plus they are re-surfacing lots of roads just to make it even more annoying for the motorist!
next it will be the tree flailers, after all the birds have started nesting.
Would not surprise me in the least..lol
We have a species here known as Devonia Highwayensis that is only seen in may. It lives in fear of hedges growing over 3 feet tall and branches falling off trees and flying long distances to hit unsuspecting motorists right in the car.
You should see the route some of the buses take here. They are alway hitting branches that stick out into the the road and hitting the bars on the side of the bus..Frightens the living daylights out of me when it makes a big bang!
my evening meal calleth, zoom. I am off to be intermediary as my grandson has tantrumed most of the day and wrecked his grandfather's fishing. if you don't hear from me again, you know I failed.
lol...Hope it all goes well for you then.Take care, Jaxx :-)

It was clued repeatedly as mustard plaster, but for the life of me, I can't see how that is relevant.

Definitions are not always helpful in this odd word search
Yes, the si 8 is definitely not a mustard plaster
I take it back, it is. My bad

Ah, Nef. Kidlets are all good! :-)
That's why I never took the kids fishing? Once you are there you are stuck.
You will have to leave that sink behind then
Hi Gaping!
Well, Jaxx, fair play to Nigel for trying.

What did ru do that warrants congratulating?
You understand that there are kids on this chat room. So we ask for a bit of decency.

Since the two of you have no profile I can only assume you are cowards. We ask you politely to get off the chat site

say hi to miss piggy lou.
Hello
How bloody tiresome to have to deal with trolls. God help them, that their source of amusement is to infiltrate Babble. Clearly low intellect, as there are so many other websites they could wreak their havoc on. I suggest that us babblers virtually join hands and pray for the trolls' salvation. 😈
Hi miss piggy lou!
Omg
troll soodle.. singular.. not plural
Praying doesn't work
So choosing this website over another means I have low intellect? Some questionable logic there.
(she's right fam. its multiple people)
We are all in a room laughing our asses off
Choosing not to feed the troll (sing). Goodnight all.
Night soodle.

stats for the lone I if anyone's got it
hi harp
in7/36
hi dan
good thing I didn't read the chog, I might not have posted....
good evening all
hi teach
ty harp got it
hello harp - am at a pslatery workshop and there is a harp player there that will play with usd
psaltery
sweet! sounds fun!
are you in WV?
four fdays of playing music - 10 - 12 hours each day - back at the motel and exhausted
yes - in Tamarack which is in Beckley
I've only been in the panhandle, and only briefly
thisd is at the southern end of the state relatively close to Virginia
I want to bike the C & O canal some day
Tamarack is a conference center / craft center - they sell juried crafts made by WV artists
we have done sections of the Canal trail - my son did the length of it with his scout troop long ago
We went to a wedding on the Chesapeake Bay a few years ago. We considered flying to Pittsburgh and biking to the wedding. Turns out it's hard to do that when you have a harp!
our workshop is led by a woman who is a resident artist at Tamarack - she and her husband make psalteries and dulcimers in a studio there
I would think so - not easilt carried - get a trailed to pull behind the bike
I am brain farting on the column 1 s words . .. only have 12 of them - aaaaargh
48
** finito ** last word TO 5/16 - time to go look through some music and then crash
Anybody still around?
Hi Scrabs. Just wandered back to make sure the trolls were gone
Ugh, there were trolls visiting?
Yes, foul-mouthed ones around 6 -6:30 or so. (That's why it's so quiet tonight)
Ah, I see below.
Hi Scrabbler and Nef!
This is a tricky grid tonight;
Hi nrkii. How are you doing?
Good thanks. Sleepy at the end of a long week.
nrkii, here in Babble Land!
Well, I don't know where my week went; but I'm glad it's over! :-)
I am tired too, nrkii. I wirked 10 days in a row then was with my mother from 3-8:30.
*worked
Do you feel like you have jello for brains now, Scrabs? I always felt that way when I worked too many shifts like that
I am a zombie and will be with my mother again most of tomorrow. It is time to find some home nursing care for my mother. My brother cannot do it 24/7 anymore. My sister lives a mile away but is unable to help much.
Scrab, how is your mom doing? And how are you holding up?
She is a skeletal disaster with bad arthritis but she can get around with a walker.
Ooh, you pre-empted my first question. How are you doing?
Scrabs, do you have something like a Senior linkage line there?
I am stressed--2 non-working sibs, one that lives with my mother, are psychologically unable to help adequately with our mother. I must find some help to keep her at home.
I have found some home nursing services. I must present the info to my mother that the options are live in a nursing home OR pay for part-time home care. 50-60 hrs/week of help should be enough.
try aarp.org/caregiving; I'm trying to figure out what you'd have where you live; but they might be able to connect you to reputable help services.
There are 3 major home nursing services here so I need to contact them.
the AARP Bulletin (it's a newpaper, not the magazine) had an article in the March issue last month about finding good home care help
Do what you need to take care of yourself. It's like the oxygen masks on airplanes...
Very true, nrkii.
My sibs here are crumbling apart. Another sister is in New Jersey.
I am a planner so will search home care options. We must keep my mother at home. I wish my local sibs were more capable but I cannot expect things from them that they cannot provide.
Scrabs, you can't hold it all together by yourself & work & remain sane. Make sure you find a good nursing care service that hires good aides.
Bro lives at home and does not work. Hermit. He crumbled this week and was in a psych unit for 3 days. Sister has psych issues too and is quite self-absorbed.
oh, My! (((Scrabbler)))
Neither work so are available to care for mom but neither can be depended on. I want to scream at them.
OH NO, that's awful.
But you are right, you have to work with expectations that people can meet. Sigh...
My mother is a very difficult narcissistic person--demanding, nitpicker, OCD. She truly IS very difficult to be with. But, we must honor her and provide care for her. My sister wants to toss mom in a nursing home.
So I am surrounded by 3 unstable, difficult people. I am calm, rational, and analytical. We have a problem to solve so now we must find a solution.
How was your Mom in social groups, Scrabs? If she was okay with them when she was younger; she might do better in a home....
Thanks for listening. I have had a very bad week.
It certainly sounds like it.
(((Scrabs)))
She was in a nursing home for 9 weeks last summer after legs infections. I cannot allow her to return unless it is essential for her safety and health. It was a horrible place despite being one of the best locally and in the state.
oh dear. Then you really have no choice, do you?
Home nursing care (part-time, to give my brother a break) is less expensive than a nursing home.
Yeah, that is true.
My hubby had to be in a rehab center for 1 summer when he had a severe M.S. relapse; but that was nothing like the old-time nursing home I worked in when I was in high school.
I am numb right now dealing with all of this, plus I just worked 10 days in a row.
And he's had home nursing care off & on back while I was working. I'm retired now so I can be his nurse 24/7. But I know I Have to take time off for me if
Being a caregiver is not easy at all.
Nope (he just interrupted me; I lost my train of thought). But trying to work crazy hours PLUS trying to take care of your family like that is *really, really* hard, Scrabs. Please give yourself a break.
(I have several friends that sometimes "rescue" me from myself; 1 friend dragged me over to a massage school last evening & bought massages for both of us. It really can regenerate a person)
There are just 2 choices--make things work at home (so pay for help) OR put her in a nursing home. The latter choice would be awful.
(Of course, I fell asleep during the massage; best hour of sleep I had all week!)
My mother has no medical problems except bad osteoarthritis--knees and back. No dementia.
Oh, Nef, it must be so hard for you.
As I said, I have friends who make me take time outs. YOU probably Need to take a bit of a timeout for yourself too, Scrabs
(I suspect that if your mother is difficult; she will find fault with the home care too. )
I am already feeling guilty for planning to be off Sunday--I need to hike in the woods. And I have 3 short summer vacations planned for hiking and kayaking. I must go on those for my sanity.
She sure will, in fact, she may cause home care workers to quit.
Do NOT feel guilty for those breaks, Scrabs. You are right: it's for your sanity. If you don't take them you can't handle the stress.
IF she does; give her 2 choices: home care or nursing home. Tell her that she can't guilt you into doing any more of this.
I hope that you can also put your foot down at work & say no more 10 days in a row. There may be exceptions; but if you pushe yourself too much like that; you might have an accident and then what?
My sister tries to make me feel guilty. "Don't leave me with her. You can't take a day off because then I have to be with her."
I agree with Nef about making sure you take those breaks. They are essential. And your sister cannot make you feel guilty. Only you can do that. So tell your sister to shut the hell up and take your days off.
Scarbs, don't let Anyone lay guilt on you! That's their problem & you can't do it all!
It seems so perfect that I have 2 ibs that do not work, and one lives with my mother, yet they cannot share the load.
YAY, nrkii! You tell her! :-)
That is why I am looking at home nursing care. It is the only solution for all of us.
nrkii, our family is so crazy and I try to be the voice of reason, then my sister says, "Oh, don't get all clinical on me."
Sigh... if only we could make our families not be nutty. Okay, I have to go now. But Scrabs, remember, if you want to run away, say the word and I will leave you a key to my house. Any time.
"But I am sick and if I get worse I will end up in the (psych) hospital again." Bro and sis have said that this week.
Aw, thanks, nrkii. But I cannot until things get under control here.
Scrabs, I tired for years to please the aunt who raised me; I'd go visit her and end up crying all the way back home (she lived 6 1/2 hours north of us). I had to learn that *I* couldn't please her or anyone else. If I let people make me feel guilty; they had a tendancy to walk all over me. I had to do what was right for me & my family. Once I figured that out; things went better because she stopped trying to manipulate me
I feel better today because I now know that there are only two choices: pay to keep mom safe and comfortable at home OR put her in a nursing home.
Hire the help. Ignore the siblings -- their fate is in their hands, and they know it. They just want someone else to take responsibility. Don't do it. And once you line up help, run away as much as you possibly can.
It sounds like that's what your sibs are doing; & your Mom too.
nrkii is correct. You definitely have to take responsibility for yourself; and not for them. Ands you need to run away & take care of yourself too
I am a big fan of assisted living facilities and nursing homes as options that save the family. They are not all bad. My 88 year old uncle was put in one several years ago, and he's done really well there. My grandmother hated going to a nursing home, but she managed to pick up a boyfriend and have a little fling while she was in.
When I arrived on Tuesday, after my bro had been admitted to the hospital, my sister said, "Thank God you're here." And my mother agreed.
Shoot, really do have to go. Good night both. Hugs all around.
My sister is very maipulative.
niters, nrkii.
SO Scrabs, don't let her do it. WHen you go there; you give them a time limit: you are here to do X, Y, & Z and then you have to leave. And really follow through with that plan.
It's not being mean or cruel or anything else. It's self preservation. You are a pediatrician; I'm sure you tell your patient's parents that they have to take care of themselves too
Same thing here.
Medical people can fall into the trap of thinking they have to solve the problems, that we're supermen/women; that we don't need to take care of ourselves. That's how we become victims. Don't fall into thattrap with your own family.
(& I'll shut up now) ;-)
I am a planner and problem solver, so I do like to manage things. I also reduce things to their simplest state, so I know the 2 choices now. I cannot spend every free moment taking care of my mother and I cannot assume responsibility for my sibs.
Just keep repeating that over & over. Maybe even write it in your appointment book for those days you need to go there. (And yes, we do like to manage things.
Alright, I need to go to bed. TY so much for listening and advising. I really need support with this situation.
((((Scrabs)))) I know how it feels. Now, go take care of YOU. ;-)
ZZZZZzzzzzzz
(And I have big shoulders & can listen whenever....) Niters..
