hi Sprite, back for my last 91
hi dizgrannie :) Nice going! I just found 91, lol.
cooee and g'day. {{hugs}} sprite. wb diz. my wretched laptop just crashed. all seems okay now.
*hugs rose* Good evening dear one :D Good to hear you are feeling well after the infusion
just as well with running round having blood te4s and x-rays done. and yes, the pics look weird. the head of one screw is standing proud of the bone by a good 1/4-1/2 inch.
ah! That is not a good thing. Might well cause you all that pain.
what did they say about it?
will find out on friday, honey.
ok. That proud screwhead stands out by a LOT.
i was wondering if the compression sock pressure has made it become more painful.
no doubt. Everything that puts pressure on it must be causing pain.
i have to wear the sock because that ankle swells so badly, no matter what the weather.
maybe you can cut out a circle at the location of the screw.
it is relatively simple bit of surgery to remove the screw totally.
yes, I meant until then
re9
yes HE. have you found it or do you need to find it? lollll
got it in vain attempt to find the 2nd re8 =)
well done you

I start treatment today but feel so awful that I can't imagine getting through this
hello ruby *hugs* my dear friend. How are you today?

What a fun grid! I fell in and just came out (in time for Sprite's success) - so hi and bye. Take care, y'all.

Good morning all.
good morning and congrats to Sprite

ty dose
Ty for that too :)
407! Wow!
i think they're hard, too
Morning scrabs
i just started but like i can only find 2 of 5 M's
I only have 2 so far too :)
ok this is WEIRD, it takes ho5/16 but not the po5/16 that goes with it!!
i just discoveredd that myself!
... yeah .. but if you ended it with "um" or "em" instead of the ending they have here then you'd have a word that has roughly the same meaning that isn't that unusual ... and this is likely just the proper latin or greek ending to have the formal word ...
Anyone have the stats for the lone A in the top left corner?
ae 5/12
TY
Interesting how the "more of" the da 4/5 is not there.

no, I meant rah rah

oh boy, are you okay?
de 10---start of month, vowel, end of soldiers for hire, most of what lynxxx said
I'm fine, small quake.. I haven't heard of any damage or anything
okay, good
ty for de10, annie. perfect clue:)
soldiers for hire?
ty Annie
makes for a nice first word of the day for me:)
peri, the word for soldiers for hire starts with a M
no idea
going to start the coffeemaker
... ends with the zodiacal sign for the end of March
still don't see it
figured out soldiers for hire and still looking
de + soldiers for hire: mer+++++++
Small groups of soldiers, usually hired by third world despots who will operate outside the standard rules of military engagement.
BBL . . . byeee
Thanks for the de 10 and hi
Bye Une
Howdy Liz:)
Hi Crossy :)
Hope you're enjoying the summer
I am indeed, but I am actually getting bored now. I cannot wait till classes begin again:)
That's real enthusiasm!
Do you have a permanent job for next year. (academic)
finally got the de10 I was using an A where I should have been using an E. ty
I love helping the kids out, and since my clearances are good till march of 2016, i may as well use them.
I also loved working with kids - but I love retirement even more :)
Nothing full-time ,Liz though there are funds there for other things should i be offered a more substantial position.
Is it likely that they'll offer you something else - is that what you're hoping? Are you looking for anything?
I am actually looking to further my own education at one of the local colleges or universities, but we shall see how that goes...
That'd be wonderful - I certainly got the idea that you were enjoying the courses you were doing and I think it's great to have the opportunity to further your education.
Algonquin in Ottawa offers a great many communication courses, and if not one of the smaller local colleges
Have you applied or is it not the right time to do that?
No quite the right time yet. I have to get all my ducks in a row first financially
Well, I hope it all works out for you.
are there any grants or scholarships you can apply for, crossy?
Plus, I am waiting for my better half to graduate next year.
What's she studying?
there are some, peri, but that is a tough go. I look into those as well.
v
ok
She is actually taking some college pre-requisite English courses
For the fun of it (i.e. personal achievement and enjoyment) or some specific purpose?
She wishes to take some professional photography couses aftwerwards, should things come together
There's certainly a lot of beautiful scenery in your part of the world or does she prefer portrait photography? Or something entirely different?
She prefers nature shots
She has a real talent of capturing what I tend to miss:)
My skills lie in another area entirely:)
I love taking photos - take some pretty good ones too but I can't be bothered with processing them. My hubby spends ages post-processing his shots.
i have an fe9 - anyone have any others?
I have an re 9 but not an fe 9
fight between clans + sign of the ram in the zodiac
Thanks, Hurshy - I figured it had to follow on from the fight word but couldn't get there.
can you clue the r?
I used to be terrible for processing as well ,Liz. I was so glad when digital photography came into being. it was embarrassing in the past at how many rolls of undeveloped 35mm and 110mm film i had laying about:)
The re 9 is to try to bring on a state again - in a person.
Trying to thing how to break it down more usefully.
thanks i got it from that clue :)
Great.
I'll straighten horizons and possibly lighten a few shadows but not much more.
reincarnate
nope, sorry
found the re8
Sorry Annie - too tired to think how to clue it by breaking it down.
Annie, think of forced labor (pregnancy)
found the re9-----thats Liz and Molly
Nice clue, Molly
and thanks
was it "to force a woman into labour again"? struggling to see something else
The base word is used to describe bringing on labour and the re makes it again.
ty Liz
Not sure if that's what you were asking though.
yes, that was it.
:)
I keep typing sardine :(
I tried that too.
sarnies is too a word, ask any Brit...
there's one phantom every grid that I keep trying...
Of course - as a Brit I tried that too.
Which is ...?
Ok - misread that!
lol, it's early for me and getting late for you...
Very true! 85 more words to find but I reckon I may find one or two more tonight but leave the rest 'til tomorrow.
for a grid of 400, the fishies seem to be hiding rather well...
Word blindness is definitely settling in here.
time for a break then Liz :)
I'll take your advice. Have a good day, Kate.
i am sorry i began this one.
bye Liz
night, Liz, hi Owl
Me too, HI TO
bye liz. hi annie, kate
Hi Annie
Hi Kate :)
any one having this prob?when i use the resource to look up the words..the whole program freezes up

Howdy, Mkg. De10 = de 10/84 which is de+ plus last part of the name of soldiers for hire.
good morning and thank you for that crossy
Howdy, riverdance:)
whooohoooo NBT and NBS
that was certainly twisty

hello MrP

Hi kids.
hi scrabs :)
Hi Scrabbs
hi Scrabs
How are you doing?
Hi Annie and lynxxx.
I need 265 words and see nothing. Babble Blindness Syndrome is a real disorder.
I suffer from that also
aha - the snake headed woman will get you 3 M words
TY, lynxxx, and my M is grey.
MY M is grey too

Hi phae and scrabbs :)
nbt!
Hello nearby Kate!
I think also ed5.16 & 6.27 which if it had s as a start would be what an older man might do to a young inexperienced girl
quite the clue, lynxxxxx and a good one
also ed5.14 a medical word - also gives the oe6.24
I've been suffering from that medical word for seveal weeks now...GRR!
poor Bzzn
Hi Bea :( sorry to hear that
we can share the rain scrabbs ;)
The rain is coming, isn't it?
educe
Geez, I finally understand lynxxx's clue and I put it in the chat.
Please se4 some rain down here to break this heat (was 100 degrees here yesterday afternoon)
>>>>>>>off to the PB with you, scrabbs
It's coming to you soon scrabbler, we just had a quick, but heavy downpour
I deduced that already, Annie...sprinting to the PB now.
It will be sunny again by 4 and then I can mountain bike.
:D
Sunny here, scrabby and a perfect 20C
Hi and good morning everyone
Howdy, bichon
HI bichon
morning Bichon
hi lyn
ty for fe 9! great clue.
hi bichon, and mkg :)
hello dear friends! Wahoo! Big fatty grid today!!!!
de 7/32, pls
Yes, Trif, so dive in!
Hi Trif, puton your wet suit...be here for a while
and....poof! - go any chances of me getting things done today!
Does Valentine understand and accept your need to Babble, Trif?
he doesn't see it much, scrabbler, as I tend to babble in the morning ,and we don't live together, so it's all good. I have done it in his presence though.....no judgements
de7 lions house & Mr Onassis, repeating last vwl
ty lyn
Ty, lynxxx.
Good, Trif.
great clue, lynxxxx, thanks
ty for de 7 lynxx
yes. he's a good guy. He sees my darling mum's situation as well, and understands my desires to do all I can to keep the gray matter perking
good morning crossy!
Howdy, Trif:))
de 6/21, first one
well shoot. I really really wanted to hit nbt in 23 words, but its not going to happen. rats
the first one I have is the thickness of stockings (not listing yet though)
good morning everyone
hi Flosey
morning, flosey
the thickness of stockings?
nm, got it, ty, but I have never heard of that word lyn
really - what do they use to 'measure' the thickness of tights in the US?
Hi Flosey :)
Don't know, I don't wear them
Babble and other word puzzles are great ways to fend off dementia.
I will never understand the sense behind the nu5.14. You either are or you aren't, in my view....
god, I hope so scrabbler
That's not the definition in enable. It's one who says no
Scrabs, good to know. I just read that lots of screen time increases dementia
I read that currently there is just about nothing that really can be done to slow down, prevent, or reverse alzheimers.
If you go down further to the Britsh definition Bichon
yes, I see now
Dementia is part of the aging process--we lose brain matter eventually.
let me tell you.....every time I can't find my keys...every time I forget a word...my stomach drops, and I think "Here it comes"
sssh Scrabs - we are all de6.21s of that one here
Me too, Trif.
BBS, must see a kid.
(probably not a baby goat either)
lol lynxxx
co 9 60 plz..take pity , i am home sick lol
prolly not
co & word meaning forever
thanks, lynxxxx, that co9 would have taken me forever
thanks Lyn, needed that one
same here ty
may I please have the count for the top left a? just cannot see it
what a lovely definition too
ae5.12
ae 5/12
ty lynxxx
Hope you feel better soon, Ivesy
found it, thanks - nbt
Hi Molly and feel better ivesy
my Scottish grandmother would always say she needed to "hotten up her coffee"....but enable has no truck with that
ty molly and annie..
I can't seem to find a single solitary M word.
i like hotten up. love it. think i will use it.
HH, They give them out at the Olympics
... what you win at the olympics
you need a chest to pin them on Harry
heat up is the right term but i like hotten up.
ty both
nbt, silly me :)
any M word clues? i just dont see any
mkg :)
and 3 of them from a snake headed woman
ty lynxx
tks HH, was missing the second me7
ty got two already.
got 3. ty.
i never think that these should be words due to being a name. oh well.
sorry, Lyn, that was your clue, tks
this grid is more difficult than it appeared at first glance
Sometimes names mean other things. Like john = toilet
yes, HH, afraid it's going to take the best of the day
These are the days I envy people who don't care if they finish or not
I think the me word is also a jellyfish?
That's what the definition says
se7.28 is the same as de7.32.....and with that I'll bid you all goodnight
good night, lynxxx and thanks for all the clues
thanks for se7
tks for the se7, Lyn and now sweet sleep
harry it was going pretty well for me and I am slowing down now and I haven't even broken 100 yet
I must start my day before it gets too hot...125 left for later
ty for the co9
I'm not even halfway yet
harry 321 left to find for me
319 now sorry
i just love when someone keeps honking the horn in our driveway ten or 15 times..for an ahole that is never ready.. so nice of them...
and its not even noon yet ivesy lol
wouldn't you love to run out and tell that driver - sorry, he's sick, won't be going today
i know this goes on every day at least 5 or 6 times a day..i mean really!! no courtesy on her part whatsoever and she parks in other peoples spots
Your driveway? Is this ahole someone who lives in your house?
i would like to go out and smack the crap out of her lol
flosey has the right idea. go say they arent home.
5 of 6 times a day? who is picking her up? i dont get it.
that driver needs to find someone else to pick up and take places
can someone clue the 10 pls?
no molly they live in apt. across my drive.. but our driveway.. the one being picked up is never out there ready..
the driver needs to learn manners and the person being picked up needs to get off his fat ass lol
That is sad. If someone was nice enough to give me a ride somewhere I would be out front and ready on time.
same here molly
i know.. i am always waiting if my ride is coming
aah just found warren from happy days
i blame new landlord .. she doesnt care who she rents to.. there are 4 people living in a effic. apt. my understanding is the toilet is act in kitchen!! must smell lovely up there
halfway!!!
how convenient ivesy - in one end and out the other in the same room!
go harry go!!!! you got this!
rotfl harry
Oh gross, a toilet in the kitchen??
yep then just jump into bed and make another baby!!
that CANNOT be legal?
life is good, ivesy :)
Isn't 4 people in an efficiency against the zoning laws?
and when you are in labor just hang or sit on the toilet
disgusting isnt it molly .. he is supposed to be lving there alone... but his gf or whatever she is stays and stays.. and every time she comes back.. a new baby!!
it's like having a feeding tube and a catheter - never have to get up for anything, except to remove the bedsores, and tell the guy outside to stop honking
i have already had it out with the driver about parking in my spot. one day when she does it i am going to park rite behind her and not answer the door so she cant get out
i can be a bitch like that lol.. i pay good money for that parking space lol
grr thought I had the 10, but enable didn't agree
ivesy does that mean you have 2 spots?
harry I don't have the 10 yet either
Around here, if you have a reserved spot in an apartment or condo development, there is tow number you can call to tow the person out of your spot
no just one.. its a four car driveway...mine is rite next to my door practically. so if she parked there i could block her in
its horrible in the winter very hard to plow
i used to live ina condo its nice when someone plows and the snow goes in another "convenient area of the parking spaces
I can't believe there are 100 6 letter words. I've still gotta find 64 of them
think this grid calls for a second double cuppa - and it's only 7:15 am, brb
ivesy isn't your car there now?
Howdy, Flosey:))
can anyone please helpwth the 10???i
hi cross
howdy, MLF
yes.. its there.. she pulled behind mine..and sat there and graced us with her horn honking
im looking at 80 or so, harry!

hi Crossy
i will send the honker to you mlf

ivesy we have motorcycles and other loud cars here already ty lol u
oh, ouch, that's far too early crossy!! not much better here though, was up by 5:
de+ a pretty yellow bird people buy for their homes, but change the first vowel
sigh ...ok
does it go with the de7?
crossy, I am LOVING your GFM updates!!! Seeing the amount grow is thrilling!
no,mlf
with that clue is how i came up with the de 7 i didn't even know had been in the grid before
Ty, trif. yes, it is very thrilling:) I will keep the updates going, but will respect others wishes for privacy, because in many cases actual names appear in my notification in-box, if not anywhere else.
ok.
it is an amazing thing
I have to admit, if it was me, I would sit there hitting refresh all day, lol
lol
well I meant what I said!!! :)
the beautiful thing about this is that when done, it is so easy to pay it forward.
is it the first 4 letters that the de starts with?
bbl
same first 3, mlf
Paying it forward is such an act of gratitude. I love doing it.
It is an amazing feeling to be sure.
There is still beauty in the world;)
indeed. if we remember to look.

hi Judi
hello judi!
lol, in regards to fixing things trif, I am like the shoemaker whose kids walk around barefoot. I fix everybody elses gizmos, but never my own. the computer I am babbling on now should be in a museum as far as computer aging goes:)
Howdy Judi
that's why I wish you were HERE, crossy! My push mower, one riding mower, three weed whackers (none functional) and dead maxima would LOVE to see you!
I can handle all byt the maxima.. cars are too complicated now:(

ahh that is easy
for YOU, yes!
help with un7s and un8 pls
Biggest thing about swapping out the alternator is running those bloody serpentine belts and adjusting the tensioners properly

hi Scrabbs
what a witch might say...
ho5 po5
TY
ty
but don't bother with the po5....how silly is that?
i am still not even half way. wow.
I only have one 9 the fe9 that I found myself
which reminds me....still "adjusting" to the new word the OED accepted this week. Ahem!
and 5/15 of the 8's
I just passed halfway and it wasn't easy.
In case you hadn't heard...it's the VERY offensive term other use to describe people from my wonderful state!
I don't know where you are from and what word
I don't know that word, Trif, not an offesive one.
when driving around Boston, that word comes to mind frequently
I don't think there's an offensive word for Montanan.
offensive word? i dont get these hints at all.
ne 5/12, pls
boston??????? hmmmm
i dont see rude in the grid.
think what you do in catholic church + what you dig to plant a tree.
Oh, that is not a nice word for Bay Staters.
its not a clue, mkg, we are just talking
and it's "Masshole"
I think Trif is referring to the term masshole, which apparently has been added to the Oxford English Dictionary
is that the ne 5/12?
ne5 rhymes with a bank he*** (robbery)
ok. so i am not catholic. so you pray. not in grid. hmmm
ITS NOT A CLUE, mkg...
that's not the 5/12
oh, that is not very nice
Sorry. Giggling about "masshole".
not at all.
Oh, ne5/10
ok. so this word is not in the grid ok. sorry
------> acting like one, just for second....
NE + not bottom
I got it
phone
TY, montreal. I always miss that word.
yvw scrabbs
ty montreal
dictionary says not a word. take a look for yourselfs. that ne 5 word. not in dict. so i dont get it.
I love the first nu 5/14, comparative of the nu 4/6
keep going bichon for the NU6
The dictionary used here does not define the ne5. Other dictionaries do.
that I don't have
wait, now I do
I am approaching half way
ahh :-)
I agree with everyone who has said there should be no comparative for that word. There is no more so or most.
Merriam Webster defines ne5 as... friend —formerly used by colonists in salutation to American Indians
agree.
must be an indian word then.
or a comparative of mere
how?
thanks molly!
can't find anymore words...for now... going blind methink...BBL - happy babblings all and take care - poof
Down to 211. Time to go run the car through the wash. Later!
Bye Montreal and Judi
I need a break. getting cranky. love to all :)
213 here
And bye Trif
i cant get to half way.d arn.
And with 182 left I am done.
Once again I have somehow lost the gist of the chat. ne5 is a comparative of mere? I missed something.
i gave up on the chog, molly
nj scrabbler, i'll be happy if i get to halfway
just passed the halfway mark
approaching the half way mark......
I'm nearing there
the po 6/21 is in the grid one of my best childhood past times [am dating myself
that must be the word i didn't bother to look up.....
another name for hopscotch
got half way. whew.............
oh, i don't have that one yet
there is another name for hop scotch?
is it one you drink?
no, squares on a sidewalk you hop from square to square, probably a NY term
The po word is Ritchie's friend on Happy Days. Spelled with a y I think in reference to hopscotch.
we called in hop scotch and never heard it called anything else. .
ra 5/12, pls
Past tense of unique
add s to word before bichon.
something you cook in + **d* [the edge of something
no the 5/12
no, got it ty Molly
I thought po 6 was a game that cos played?
well, I'm going to come back later and pretend I have this sweet 168 word grid....
Cos does enjoy an occasional game of po6
re 6/27, pls
po6 was warren weber's nickname on Happy Days
Quality 70's Television
Points to Harry for remembering Po6's real name
And a 50's NYC game for girls
I watched a LOT of tv
I remember being very angry when Richard Nixon interrupted Happy Days for his resignation speech.
( I think it was Happy Days...)
re 6/27, pls
bichon - to lessen
add mussolini's nickname
ty Harry
just found it after you asked :)
woo found another 8/9 all by myself :)
oooh a reasonable sized grid today! Hello everyone :-)
No time like the present..so thinking cap on and in I go.
60% done. I have slowed to a crawl, so I'm going to break here for a few hours. Enjoy!
Toodle pips, Harry :-)
Phantom : Sardines.
Whee! I know what I'm doing today! Hello all!
Hello, Car.eeyore :-)
Howdy, Zooz:)
Hello, Crossy :-)
two thirds done ... and still 135 to find ... phew ... it'll be a long list ... ... later days ... ... luck to all
Have a great day, Doseffing :-)
Okay, ... I am having a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) on Thursday. Who here has some advice? They didn't tell me much except to drink extra water.
Just breathe. Its pressure but not too bad.
Did yours have the fluoroscope to help locate the right spot?
The first needle in, the anesthetic, is the worst part.
Trif just had one a few weeks ago and they just did it in the ER...no fluoroscope.
How long is the recovery time?
No advice here, Ch1212, But I wish you well during and afterwards for a speedy recovery :-)
They told her to lie flat for an hour. She has had some discomfort now and then, but not too bad.
I am going for my second injection into my back next week. I know it is a different procedure, but I had hardly any down time.
Thanks, zooz and car. That's reassuring. Car, I wish you well too.
The best thing you can do is breathe and relax. It makes it so much easier.
I can breathe. My beloved wants to come in and hold my hand. Is that allowed?
During a regular one, yes. But I am not sure with the fluorscope. My hubby can't come in for my injections because they use an x-ray type of machine.
Bring a small stuffed animal just in case.
oh, that makes sense. ---lol! I actually have a fluffly little kitty that he gave me on Valentine's day! Maybe I'll bring that along :)
Perfect...something squeezable.
Ladette is not allowed :-(
:(
Who is Ladette?
wasn't that part of the title of a BBC TV show? :-)
Ladettes and Ladies? or did I dream that? LOL
The word "ladette" has been coined to describe young women who take part in laddish behaviour. It is defined by the Concise Oxford Dictionary as: "Young women who behave in a boisterously assertive or crude manner and engage in heavy drinking sessions."
hello everybody.
I think it was, Une.
RUBY!!! How are you feeling??
Wait..I resemble that remark...
((Ruby)) how goes it?!?!?!
Hello, ((Ruby))
LOL Car.eeyore!
He ruby, how are you doing?
Exhausted, but just back from the oncologist and I've already started the treatment, one pill (anastrozole) every day and a shot for pain starting Thursday.
used to call them tomboys back in my day...or was that only for younger girls - ladettes being teenage +?
hugs and all best wishes to you, Ruby! xxxooo
I am so lucky that this is treatable. The bad news is that my doctor has been re-assigned elsewhere in two weeks.
yay - treatable. Boo - relocation :( Make sure your doctor refers you personally to someone else.
how long will the treatment last?
I am so pleased to hear it is treatable, Ruby.
{{ hugs }} to you, Une.
Evidently, it could go on for years but that's OK with me.
and to you as well, ch1212 :-)
Especially if it means that I can go on for years!
indeed, ruby :-)
yes yes yes! :-)
Like i said before, Ruby, you are a strong woman. you have many many years left to babble with us :-)
ditto what zoom said :-)
I am so happy to have found you all. Your support and prayers have meant a great deal to me through this difficult time. I can't thank you enough!
wish you weren't so far away . . .
(It's funny that people keep telling me that I'm strong as I feel like a marshmallow!)
That's it...Babble road trip to France!
((ruby))
oh boy!
{{crossy}}

Our May was the hottest ever. Then June was cooler than average. It's been a weird spring and summer, if very, very wet.
If I can make a difference, then it's worth it to me. Even if it gives someone a smile on their face, I am happy.
