When will you talk to the doctor about that?
next appointment in 2 weeks. he is trying to get his new rooms set up ASAP. then i can have the magnesium every 2 weeks.
yes rose, he is very much hoping he did well in his math exam today :)
That would be good. But 2 weeks is a long time to be in pain.
This grid is fighting me :(
hope he did do well, mrp. little ratbag. fancy not doing your homework just before exams. * sigh *

Good morning all and evening and afternoon.
hello sukee :)
Hi sprite.
hi ya sukee
Updated my user icon with a new picture of the cats.
awwww they are sweet!
Breakfast time is fun you would think they were starving.
oh the pet drama :) Always good for a laugh.
I was so used to a cat who grazed through the day and never over ate.
once they are old and wise, most cats are like that... but not in their early years :)
Been a long time since I have had a young cat :)
Whatever playing with them will keep me active :)
oh absolutely. Are you managing with the muscle thing?
Yes a lot I can do sitting down :)
They like to play with this mouse on a stick in the morning. That gets them jumping high that one I stand up for :)
awesome :D
rose, sweetie, you are awfully quiet. Anything the matter? Except for the tiredness and the muscle cramps...
One think I am learning though is to put everything off the kitchen counters at night.
hahaha oh yes... those little monsters get into everything!
I had just cooked dinner and there was a little bit of bacon left in the pan. Before I got the chance to clean it up the grey one was eating it.
The stove was cold...
thank God. Or he would have learned a harsh lesson.
I know have to watch him like a hawk.
The other does not jump as high and I doubt he ever will.
That is something :)
*grin* true.
i'm okay, dearest. just have a few things i have to sort out.
Hi Rose.
ok rose *extra hugs for you* Write me an email, if you feel like it.
I have to be off. Enjoy your day/evening, and *hugs* to you both.
Take care.

Or maybe I'll just sit on the stoop -- haven't enough energy to walk anywhere
Maybe it's the C drug.....

well morewords should help easily then

okay.....THAT is a new one! thanks bzz
ty bea :) hi all!
good morning TK dear
hi trif, heckuva grid so far...
indeed! made it to nbt, but who knows what will happen now!
half way here, but it's ben slow going...i suppose I should try to get the nbt/nbs....
gawd help us all - tertiare is waging a full out campaign for a puppy. She is going to wear me down, I just KNOW it. She always does, the relentless little terrorist....
lol....is that such a bad thing? ...the puppy; not the losing the war...
what kind?
lol....I would say yes to another DOG - Indy would love the company! But a puppy? I don't have the time
something medium sized....she is frustrated with shelters, so she wants to get one at a pet shop - horrors!!!!
my husband finally wore me down about getting a puppy. this past december, we adopted a 1-year old husky. now im a sucker + cant stop cuddling him!
How about rescue groups?
see, you had me at "adopted" and "1year old"
sometimes you can get an older dog that a senior had to give up... if you have to get a puppy it is usually bettter to get one home raised or form a good breeder..no puppy mill animals that way
they opened the new county shelter about 1.5 miles from our house. i want to adopt them ALL!
I love huskies, you have the time to give him lots of walkies?
have tried several. have had mixed results. most of the dogs SEEM like they are in the area, and then it turns out they are in texas. or Alabama, and there is a HUGE transportation fee, and then you are committed. Local shelters would be so much more preferable, as they let you meet the dogs, bring your dog to meet them, etc.
bzznbea thank you, that was a great clue
YW, melissa.
not nearly as much as we really SHOULD (luckily, hes only half husky, so maybe the other half doesnt need it quite so much?) but my husband is home with him most days, so he gets to spend a decent amount of time outside + gets tons of play-time. :)
Trif, do you have a Petco or PetSmart in your area?
yes, bzzn, both
I agree Trif. I oqwuldn't get a dog, sight unseen
tertiare is off to college in two years....then it will be just me, with two dogs, all the time.
They should know of local rescue groups. Most of those dogs are fostered in the area and you should be able to go meet the dog in the foster home with your dog.
Good Friday Morning, Everyone!
good morning, judi!
i'm adopting a new dog soon. I will have to drive to meet him
or her
so exciting, ruru! what kind?
We always work with rescue groups. The foster home knows the dog and its needs and whether the dog is right for you family.
Labrador retriever
golden?
I have to buy my house first and be settled
excellent! our Indy is half lab
I have a golden Kate.. I want a lab now.
some of the places have an adoption questionnaire that is so over the top....I fear it would be easier to adopt a child
rescues are best. we have three right now: 2 papillons and a chiweenie
yes that's true trif
and that's okay with me
afraid to ask what a chiweenie is....
Yes, they do but there is a reason for it. I've been on both sides of rescue as we were a foster home for boxer rescue in KS.
so is Rush Limbaugh TK :D
lol ruru :D
We are woking with a escue now looking fo a male boxer.
Rescue orgs can be a trial, Trif. Lengthy apps to fill out. Meet the animal. Stand on one foot and recite the French alphabet, etc. Rescue orgs near us are getting as expensive as buying a pure bred. Hubby paid a "donation" of $350 for our husky/border collie mix from a rescue in PA. I just about swallowed my tongue.
Hi Everybody!
AND - we had to prove we had the dog spayed after the adoption. Wasn't included in the adoption.
idk, judi. we rescued our Husky for a VERY nominal fee. had we gotten one from a breeder, we were looking at $2000+ !
That is unfortunate. The whole point of adopting from rescue organizations is that people who can't afford to buy pets can adopt them.
morning ms H
That being said, we got a WONDERFUL dog. She is an angel.
morning Ru :)
oh.. well.. Judi.. we would expect that only angels would surround you
Hi, Hego!
There is a lot of expense for the rescue org in pulling a dog from a shelter.
I found a really, really lovely dog about an hour and a half from here, that I think would be great. But their application process is DAUNTING, and I fear they would reject us after the long drive and all. pisser
Ru, the answer to your icon is yes. lol
If I ever get a dog, it will be a golden and his name will be Jameson.
*marks down.. women 100% yes response.. men 40%*
agree Molly!
Im not sure I agree with you 100% Molly dear. To me, the point of adopting is to give a home to a dog that needs one. I don't begrudge people who want a certain breeds, show dog, pedigree, whatever. But for people like me, who just want a nice, friendly, family dog, shelters are a great option.
haha, Ru
Proud owner of 4 rescues - two dogs and two cats - I could afford a dog from a breeder but to me the point was to give a home to a dog (or cat) that otherwise wouldn't have one, and also not to encourage the breeding of animals for profit
Well I wasn't speaking to the motivation of the people adopting. I was thinking more of an affordable way to get a pet.
But goldens are awesome and my daughter did rescue one.
all my pets at the moment are rescues, even the rooster!
Here, here, My two Bichons came to us that way
that is true.. I wish the shelters had a more rigorous adoption process
Can Tertiare volunteer at a local vet or shelter before you get her a dog? Cleaning out a few cages and being surrounded by doggy smell may change her mind.
Hiya Sue!!
and the cost of keeping them healthy, especially now as they are getting older, far exceeds whatever the adoption cost was
hi hego!
she would LOVE that judi - we would have 15 dogs in a week!
and hi to everybody else too - I've been around, just haven't been chatting much
Be careful of Goldens Many have been dying of blood related cancers. Check it out on line before getting one
Yep. We have a dog and three cats. All from rescue orgs.
OKay. She should volunteer at the local vet then. Can't take those critters home.
Sue been following on FB.
there's a cute boy up for adoption that I like the looks of.. but it's too soon and the timing isn't right
one of the girl's has a teacher that we have become very friendly with socially, and we dog sit for his little jack Russell/Beagle fairly often - what a LOVE this dog is! And Indy is SO much happier with another dog around.....If we could adopt a little guy like that one, it would be heaven on earth!
on another topic - valentine has four vacation days in august, and we are trying to come up with a nifty getaway plan....I was half thinking of chucking in and driving to Graceland, which he has always wanted to see, but oooooh, it's far! any fun ideas within a days' drive of Boston?
The cost of keeping a pet fed and immunized and healthy is one of the things that has kept me from getting one. It does not seem to be an inexpensive process.
My two fluffs were strays and a lot of the bad habit came with them to us
Molly VERY expensive.
less than kids though
Vermont or New Hampshire, Trif?
dogs don't text
Trif you are so close to Maine and Vermont and all the pretty New England places and this is the time to visit them.
I think these will be the last two we will have/ We'll be in our 70's
No college tuition.
these will be my last two also bichon
Dylan was my last puppy
Really, Ru?
yes..
My son and his wife got a dog. That "oh, I've always wanted a dog (they are cat people). Once they figured out how much work a dog is, they found someone to take him.
that's sad molly
That's kind of sad.
Uhg! My neighbors did the same thing. A St. Bernard no less.
Oh, Lord!
They are not used to having to walk and care for a pet the way dogs require. They are used to a house cat that uses a litter box. Dogs are a lot more work.
Not a good sign for grandkids there then
ra c/24, pls
:)
Imagine a St. Bernard puppy in a house with 7 cats. It was like a Disney movie in there.
Oh no, not a good sign at all. But the main issue for them is her Crohn's disease, not the ability to care for a child.
oh god
That's a tough one.
that's a tough one molly a life of extreme pain and suffering
I keep trying earache
The "puppy" soon grew to a 125 lb beast. Nice dog, but needed lots of excercise & grooming. So not their thing.
Just cleaning up the poop is an awesome task.
um.. sounds like they did a lot of "research" judi
we had saints when I was a kid - loved them, but they'll eat you out of house and home too ;)
I wouldn't want a dog that outweighed me.
This will be new for me.. I've only had goldens and german shepards
what are you getting?
Labrador
Oh, nice. What color?
doesn't matter to me hego
I am not sure, hego - my sil and bil got an Irish Wolfhound, and whilst it is rather like having a small pony living in the house, it is the MOST gentle dog ever
I thought you had a particular dog in mind.
fyi... chocolate labs tend to bleach out in sun.. kind of a rusty colour
trif, they are nice dogs.
yeah. I see a boy I like a lot (blonde).. but after speaking to the rescue person.. the timing is wrong she doesn't want him to have to move with me
When are you moving?
looks like sept or October unless I do a quick escrow
hi all -- have just taken a quick look -- doesn't look like a friendly grid
so you bought something?
Hi Nan, not friendly today.
no.. i'm still looking.. but now I can buy .. we do the walk through my old house (we're cleaning it again today and sprucing it up after the stagers moved out furniture) with the new owners.
Better get looking.
looking at a cool one on sunday and my agent has a house he knows I'll love I can look at on August 5th
are the fires near Napa?
there was one.. I think it's pretty much out now
good
pretty smoky here for a bit though.. great sunsets
california is a wild and crazy place.
Time for a break. *POOF*
did anyone see a "blue moon" last night?
nbt, but no 7's or 8
cloudy here
found the pe 7
hego last night it was cloudy here
cyber that was hiding in plain site:)
Nan is hot today!
The "blue" moon is not really blue. It's just an extra full moon in the full moon cycle, which spawned the phrase "once in a blue moon".
hi, all. this grid is one letter shy of having an earache.
stats for the 8, please?
I knew that:)
lol Angel
i didn't see it change colors or do anything
I knew that too. :)
it was big and bright and full
They just did a 5-minute segment on the full moon on CNN. Give you an idea of how boring it is around here.....
Hello kidss
Hi Ruby!!!
*Withdraws full moon trivia
trivia always welcome.
Third column O?
In 2018, there'll be no full moon in February. Didn't you all want to know that?
(CAN'T HIDE ANY LONGER, MUST EMERGE FROM THE LAIR)
ruby i read little bit about when they will be again i think another one comes next year? the other one was on my birthday this year a
glad you're out and about Ruby.
not shut, mlf
... they'd better check that ... ... I read a memorable trivia question a couple years ago which indicated that Feb 1863 was the last month without a full moon and that the next one wasn't for 2 million years ... ... either someone miscalculated or time has been passing awfully quickly ...
duh ty cyber
stats for th 8?
co 8/50
co 8, 50.
Must go. bbl
4th column E above the n stats please?
ek4/4 4/5 en6/21
I will take a de 5/16 clue please

what kind of website angel?
nbt

dose to be kept late or held up? what is that a clue for?
de5/16
ty cyber
thanks you guys.. blind now at this point
angel is that for the co8?
clue for the 8 please?
ty for the 8
property of sticking together or being glued
i think that is for the de. not sure.
Helllo...melting here in Massachusetts...how you all making out?
no that was for the co 8
the de5/16 ... is to be kept late
the co8/50 ... is the property of sticking together
ty. looking.
i just dont see the word. glued not there, joined not there. hmmm
what's melting in Mass?
temp wise?
Me!
Yup
think of a group of people who stick together in their endeavours -- they are a co 8 unit
melting in mass???????? what is meltimg?
if you complained about the snow and cold all winter, you are not allowed to complain about the heat in the summer!
cohesive not in grid.
... but the noun form is
So close!!!! That is almost the word.
got it. whew. got it. ty.
got it right as you wrote car.
the noun, not the adjective, mlf
Yes, I am! I only complained about the volume of snow...not the snow itself.
lol, car
need a break - bbl
... gotta go ... luck to all ...... and may the power grid not fail under the load of the extra air conditioning in your area
We don't have a single AC unit in
I will have two ac units in my new place... and big ones too with a generator
Is that what it takes to keep wine chilled, or you? : P
both
I tend to run at higher temps
Understandable. It gets way hot out there on The Left Coast.
been 102-106 out here this week
with a little humidity too... very uncommon out here on the right coast
My internal thermostat works overtime as well.
ah.. hence the open windows
The Right Coast. You must be viewing these United States from Canada.
doesn't everyone view from Canada?
<---Not allowed to comment on things like that
good idea
I'm making my best effort to not be acrimonious
best way to avoid being acrimonious would be to not comment on what you are "allowed to comment" on.. Comments like that can be seen as snide or sarcastic, and open you up to further acrimony.
and hello to all
allowed to or not allowed to?
<---looks up acrimony
not a word I use
there are no rules, ru. But sarcasm, snideness are not viewed with joy. acrimony = hard feelings, lack of harmony
Hey doren.. if you head out I can send you back with a bunch of wine :D
SOO tempting!
*load up the audi with Bordeaux and Rhone and Burgundies :D
going to MV on Sunday for the week. and heading out right now to the Catskills - a friend is having a gallery showing her photography.
I can't believe how much wine I've accumulated
wait!! David is flying out on Monday I think.
I can. It;s what you do.
I probably don't need to buy another bottle in my lifetime at this point
that was true of Ken five years ago, but it didn't stop him .. "A wine cellar is a living breathing organism" according to him
ok. down to 35 and must leave now. Hope to be back to finish by 11(my time). Later, gators.
bye doren
hi - back again, showered, bed made and ready to carry on with the day!
*puts down the febreeze bottle*
So confused about allowed to or not allowed to. Best to just say "hope the weather is good where you are"
just read back in the chat -- guess I put my foot in it -- no sarcasm intended -- just a saying we have here meaning you can't complain about both the cold and the heat -- take your pick
*perhaps I should say you shouldn't complain?
anyway, s0rry -- didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings!
hello all!! having a vodka and tonic since I am out of gin and no extra money at the moment. but that is ok
Cheers!!
cheers, peri

Good afternoon, everybody:)
And now it is time for Crossys word of the day!! Today's word is "petrichor" and it means "... The distinct smell of rain falling on soil after a long, dry spell."
