Hiya, Molls. Yes the leaves are starting to turn here too. A bit early for us.
I am a tree person and I know which leaves turn first. Usually the ones that sprout first (logic of nature). I don't get worried about a bad winter unless they all turn and drop by November 1.
I don't know if an early leaf drop is indicative of a particularly harsh winter. Could just be extra windy - like today. We are surrounded by trees, so we get buried in leaves.
Some days I would just like to light a match and get rid of them the easy way. The neighbors might take exception though.
People used to rake and burn leaves all the time, when we were kids. Then that nasty EPA said it was contributing to poor air quality. Personally, I love the smell of burning leaves.
Early leaf drop has less to do with wind and more to do with the trees preparing for the cold months. But that is kind of a Pagan idea that not many people subscribe to.

Thank you I have refreshed as instructed and have now got a bunch of cats. The cats belong to my grandson's family. They had 6 but one died. I have two cats, 1 male, 1 female and related to each other but between them they create the havoc of 10 whilst fighting each other!. They frighten my lovely Labrador to death.

Ah football Sundays of years ago. All my son's friends came over to watch the games and I cooked for them most of the day. Miss that a lot. I loved having the neighbor hoods in my house for football.
I wouldn't mind at all if I was up to it and hubby was here. Too much for me to handle with a headache and my mom too.
