Thank you looking
99 babbly words in the grid, 99 babbly words - type one down, hi4 it around, 98 babbly words in the grid... ;p
sorry, couldn't help myself, lol
yw
your ditty much appreciated with this grid, rbud!
tinner
ty! I'm still singing it in the back of my mind as I go, sort of regret giving myself an earworm, lol
(rats, already had that one!) ;)
I didn't enter it into the chat on purpose, but I didn't really think it would work,, either!
How do you like the double comma - snazzy, huh!
:D
Obviously my brain is not taking itself seriously - maybe I better quit for the night.
very strange grid, odd words all over the place
Hope it makes more sense in the morning. Good babbling and good night.
night, sleep well!
ea5/12 I please?
don't see that on the list - but en 5/12 is a sort of lethargic sense of boredom.
sorry ea5/10
lol! ea 4/10? it's a French word for a scent or perfume, maybe? 3 vowels and the high point tile at the end. (straight down the middle, shhh, I didn't say that!) ;)
sorry got it and it was ea4/10
whew, the F's are finito at last. now for the D's
d's down, too. 24 left, off I go for the night.
au7, please?
au7, au + high scoring tile + not out + take your p**k, choose
got it thanks
;-)
morning all
un 7/48; ur 7/36 clues please
The UR sounds kind of like a planet...
ur+indefinite article that precedes words starting with a vowel+Not ego, but ** plus a vowel
thanks matty
No worries. I don't have the un7 though. It's the only 7 I'm missing...
same here
Do you have stats for the O in the upper lefthand corner?
od4/5
{{hugs}} and good morning my dearest sprite. cooee matty. how are you both today?
Thanks! Tired today with a slightly dodgy tummy, though that may have been the beer ;)
bring out the alka seltzer then....
*hugs rose* Hello dear one. I am ok. Just like matty, tired and my bowels are off. But all minor and am looking forward to the training this afternoon.
yuck sprite. i wish it would settle sooner rather than later. good news about the training. you are such a star!!
:D I plan to become the best volunteer they ever had, lol
and you will be darling. you have so much wisdom to share
oh matty, found it. Un + not when but ** + high scoring playing card
well to b e honest, the work is more about listening than sharing wisdom. Empathy is our biggest tool. But that is one I have a bit of practice in :)
Thank you Sprite!
yvw :)
I think most of us have a un7! I don't have two, that's for sure :)
me neither. Well... one with only one eye. But that is for intimate watchers.
true sprite. but a word of wisdom spoken at the right time is so valuable.
my daughter is in your country at the moment, matty! She wanted to spend a holiday there to find out if she can manage herself in english everyday use.
that is true, rose. And knowing myself, I won't be able to prevent myself, lol. I tend to preach, I think.
Oooh, where in the UK is she visiting?
near Bristol
Aaah, west country English! Arrr ;)
*giggles* I had hoped I'd be able to find her a babble address to visit, but that didn't work out. Now she is staying with a canoe friend of my husband's. The good thing is, we know it is safe. The bad thing is, he is dutch. She is english though, and so are the kids, so... I bet they won't speak dutch much.
Well, if she comes to the London area let me know. I'll take her to a pub :)
awesome, matty! Will remember that for a future visit. I promised her we will go on a trip to York someday. Maybe we can make a stop at london first then.
sprite, june took me out today. she loaded the wheelchair into her car and took me window shopping in one of our local shopping malls.
oh wow rose! That is soooo cool. Good job, June! Did you enjoy yourselves?
we did. we ate junk food for lunch, and i finally spent my goodbye gift from my work colleagues
oh that is nice. What did you get?
a waterford crystal vase to replace the one don broke of my grandmothers.
well spent. You'll think of your coworkers every time you fill it. And if you get really frustrated with work related issues, you can always break this one yourself.
and there goes the dratted timer. sprite, i'll bet you are gone when i check in. if so, i hope you have a great session today. xoxox
thanks darling. Enjoy your dinner. *hugs*
fireflies. Good little grid. *hugs matty* All the best!
Hello! I showered and am now dressed...though still tired ;)
matty? Are you still here?
Yep
I'm here. In body, if not in brain
Well then, good morning to you!
And to you, Ruby!
I'm waiting for the lunch lady. I had my usual piggish French toast with maple syrup for breakfast so am not interested in eating again.
hah - sounds lovely though!
Thids country is wonderful' gov't agencies seem to really care and are helping me a lot
That's brilliant. Europe and the UK do get things right. Though if the conservatives here get their way, so much would be dismantled
They are even trying to get me health insurance which would be an enormous help
Oh, I'm sure it would! I hope they come through for you
The gov't lady said "We provide it for Arabs and Serbs, why not you?"
Charming! But I do hope they do!
And that it all gets sorted
I'm sure it will, though the wheels of bureaucracy can grind exceedingly slowly
Whatever she says is good enough for me! And the Conseil General is looking for a permanent placement for my husband
That would be brilliant, and hopefully not too far away
I don't think it will matter for very long.
I'm sorry. I can't imagine how tough this is for you. As my mother used to say, ageing is not for wimps (or the fa5 hearted)
Exactly.
How is your husband doing where he is now?
The place is lovely, out in the country, surrounded by hills and animals. The problem is that he remains focused solely on me and repeats over and over how much he loves me.
He won't talk about anything else.
It's sad but I can't help him
I know. It's horrible to lose your loved ones a tiny piece at a time.
{{hugs}}
I'm not sure what sense he has of time, but I don't go there often as I can't drive myself and need friends to drive me and to give me moral support
Many people suffering from conditions like his have a poor sense of time - he is in the best place for him (and for you)
Mostly, he's safe and I can rest.
And the staff can deal with his agitation at night
Exactly. And the staff are trained to do so and he can't wander far in any case (if he does wander)
Bye, Matty, thanks for listening to my endless whine
It's not whining - you have every right. My thoughts are with you and your family - it's a tough time for all *hugs*
{{matty}}
Good morning, everybody :)
Hello Crossy
How is matty this fine day :)
Tired and with a slightly grumbly tummy but otherwise well :)
How are you Mr Hair?
lol@ Mr. Hair :)
:D
Doing fine. Busy day today. tis voting day here :)
A day when we try and figure out who is the best of the worst :/
Oh yes - a Canadian friend was explaining the evilness of Stephen Harper to me. And the fact he' can't vote as he's been out of the country for more than five years
We are definitely ready for anything other than harper, although it seems that it will be a close race once again with a minority Govt, at the helm.
Though, from what little I gather, hopefully not lead by Harper...
Hah, I can't vote either, either in England or France. If I went back to England, I couldn't even open a bank account...
How come, Buggie?
I'm British, so I can't vote in France. Grew up in France, so I can't vote in England.
Well, I can vote for town and european elections in France, that's it
You should be able to vote in at least one country in at least some elections being part of the EU?
municipal and EU and that's it. No national elections whatsoever. I have no say what happens to my taxes...
You should be able to get an absentee vote in the UK, shouldn't you? Mind you, I'm no expert
Nope, because I'm not in the system, I'm not a resident
I'm a foreigner wherever I go. My sister went back to the UK for a few months as an au pair. She couldn't open a bank account there. The bank manager told her if she's been a foreigner he would have been able to use a special procedure, but as she's british he couldn't do anything
We came over from the U.K in 1966, and although I hold a U.K passport, I doubt i could do much over there other than by a bus token.
buy
However, i can vote here
Oh you're british? dual nationality?
Indeed. here, i am classified as a "permanent resident"
I did think about getting dual nationality. I got the forms and started getting the paperwork, but gave up. French burocracy. That and a) the police do a background check and question your coworkers and everything. b) there's an official ceremony for them giving you your nationality. ugh. c) at the time it made me eligible for militairy duty
Funny thing is, as my paperwork stand at this moment, her majesty can still call me up for military service, should a draft ever be enacted--though i am getting a whisker long in the tooth for that now :)
I will admit, I hate to think about what would happen if the UKÂ ever left the EU
I am missing two words to finish - can you help? AN6/21 and CA5/14?
Got the CA5 - just the an6 please!
I will look along with you, Matty
Ta!

ni6/21
was 6 inches yesterday and we were at minus 2C; today, it will be all gone and it is rainy and plus 13C
glad to see the big melt?
lol, Matters not. We consider early snows like this a warning shot across the bow as it were. a caution to get our snow tires on and the winter clothing out and ready
portent of things to come, eh? :-)
Indeed :)
ty, Molly, found the ni6

After 9 years, car, we are more than ready to freshen things up.
How come they extended the campaign period?
Then I wish you a good turn out and a fresh start in a positive direction!
Good morning all.
Howdy, Sukee :)
Ty, car :)
Not extended as far as i know
I hope whomever wins that it is a minority government.
Hi sukee
well they were saying it was the longest at 11 weeks
It was longer than normal.
there were early vote days and 1 day for those incarcerated but still eligible to vote.
Not sure, lady
maybe that was it!
I think you can guarantee a minority govt , sukee.
This is a whole grid filled with babblets :(
of course the remaining 50% undecided could all vote for the Green Party and really shake things up :)
A plethora of Babblets ;)

Good afternoon, everybody:) My vote is placed--28 million more to go before 9:30 this evening :)
actually, less that that. 3.5 million voted in the early voting stations:)
hi crossy
Howdy, therealblah :)
bet you're glad the campaigning is over
Was not overwhelming. Information was updated in the papers. Tv special were on where they all went head to head, signage was not abused. All in all, a well mannered election so far
that's good. and much different than here unfortunately
However, if i listen very, very closely, I can hear the sound of Stephen Harper packing his bags.. :)
:)
Not as much frenzied hype :)
another year+ for us... :(
ni 5/12, pls

((crossy)) Tired of looking at Donald before I even was doing so.
...and I try not to do it much now.
this was kind of a tuff little grid....... off to give my hunny his treatment... later folks
If he becomes President, Canada will need to step in, declare this country insane, and take over.
lol mimi
Hi, blah!
hiya mimicat!
Is that his real hair. it always looks a bit strange.
oh it's awful. at one of his speeches he brought a stranger on stage to touch and pull it. EEEWWWWW!!!
We have a politician here by the name of Boris Johnson and his hair always looks unkept too.
you'd think a guy with that much money could get a decent haircut lol
Hi, zooz! No one really knows, though I think it is real and just a gravity-defying comb-over!

firewords! tx lickety and all cluers - un7 single-front was my last
Nice work, 2Bit
evening all
Good Evening Everyone. How are you this lovely evening?
pretty well, Nef, and yourself?
doing ok.
I have a nosy elderly neighbor who has health problems & keeps wanting me to come over & take care of her. When I have gone over & checked her BP or pulse & I've advised her to go to Urgent Care or the hospital; she refuses to go (I think she's haveing episodes of atrial fibrillation). She insists that she "just had a physical; & the doctor didn't do anything>" And she refuses to go in when she Is having problems. I'm trying to distance myself; and she's trying to make me get involved in caring for her. So tonight when she called I was heading out the door to take DH to a meeting at church; and normally I would have come straight home; but I went to DQ instead & had apeanut buster bar while sitting in the parking lot!
I'm hiding form my neighbor now!
hah. get REALLY scary decorations?
it is almost halloween.
I don't think that htat would help. She's in her late 80's; and I'm learning that she sits & watches the activity on the block; so she keeps track of who's home or not. Mind you; she lived here when we moved in, & we've lived here for 24 years now! (Both she & her husband were really grumpy & nasty to our kids when we moved here; we've avoided them most of this time)
(her husband died a few years ago after 3 years of suffering from postherpatic neuralgia); that's when she started calling me.
Name that proper noun - German philosopher
desperation. she has nobody else to ask?
godthaab, there are too many & none that I can think of have names in theis grid
Arendt, (Hannah)
She has both friends & relatives, jes; I just don't want to be her "personal" nurse! And she can be really nasty & spiteful if she gets mad at you.
godthaab; that is one I've never heard of.
well hell. if shes still got family around, I've got nothing.
No, she is not really well known. I think she is famous for the quote "the banality of evil"
yeah, so tonight I hid from her (& ate ice cream while doing it! NOT a good choice!)
I Googled her, godthaab; I'll have to read up on her later.
Cool!
Could I please have the stats for that bottom left corner A?
where you play sports
thanks jes!
oh, crap. sorry. ar5/10. sorry about the unwanted clue
that's ok. I should have said stats or a clue (I've tried so many combos but missed that one
I finally got NBTat 48 words!
whoot! i'm finally half way
Me too now! :-D
I live in a senior community and anytime we have a concern for the welfare of a senior we call social services. You would have a valid reason to do that because of your concern for her health issues. Trying to do any "nursing" checking BP etc could put you in a risk situation for helping unless you are a medical professional. seen it happen!
i haven't got nbt yet, but i do have nbs
cookie, I am a retired RN. I'm trying to refer her to her doctor or the hospital; she won't go. So far I'm staying within my "legal boundaries" since I'm not telling her what I think the problem is
I've even told her to call our senior link line (an all in 1 senior referral service here that could hook her up with social services, handy men; refer her to a gerontology doc, etc. but she won't call them
jes, which letter/tile are you missing?
top row e and right lower corner n
stats or clues, jets?
stats first
clues if i fail at that :)
top e = ea 4/10 (French water?)
ne 4/4
got the e
ne clue?
can't be ne - the n between x & t
oops! I missed the "right lower" just saw bottom
ni6/21
heh. good reading comprehension skills for both of us
LOL!
clue please?
clue yet?
(Vitamin)
LOL found it...
thanks!
howdy, stid :)
hey all
hi stid! How are you tonight?
I love reading how excited you are aboutbeing a teacher! :-)
I am doing okay. The online class is officially over. I didn't get as high a grade as I would have liked, but I got a reasonable grade for my effort. :-) My nights are again my own... celebrating tonight with doing NO schoolwork of any kind!
what class where you taking?
Tomorrow I have to be back in form, though. Need to get ready for parent conferences in three weeks! *panicked teacher look* I am always a little nervous.
WOO HOO stid!!!
A grad-level class in a specific framework for thinking about literacy instruction. (The Daily 5 and CAFE)
And of course orchestra rehearsals have started up again. I am nervous about the concerts this quarter, I am the only percussionist, and there are a couple of pieces that truthfully need at least three.
other than that -- life is pretty good. The house is a mess, the garden looks ragged (always does this time of year), and the family is well.
oh-oh. Can't you recruit your hubby to help?
That's why the house isn't horrible. It's just still cluttered from fire boxes. And that just has to wait until _I_ have the time and mental energy for it. No one else in the family has the will or interest to do this, and I just cannot bear to toss boxes that I know have some of the things I desperately want to keep (I know, because I have peeked in the boxes). But most of it will end up going to the dump. Next year. I parcel my time and sorrow these days.
maybe pack up half the boxes & just deal with 1 or 2 at a time?
I hear you about trying to parcel time & energy....
nowhere to put the boxes if I am to have any space in the garage or my office space. People who love me don't care... people who care don't matter enough for me to worry. Except my granny's voice keeps saying to me that I need to have seating for guests. :-)
And each box rips my heart out, actually. It's very slow going. So no, nothing moves during the school yea.
help on the upper E please?
THose little voices in our heads sure nag a lot, don't they?
hello friends, Nef and stid. I have been to stid's house Nef and she makes it sound like hoarder heaven where you have to crawl around on top of boxes touching the ceiling to get anywhere. It is all baloney. Her house is lovely, the boxes are stored subtly and there is lots of room for guests
ea4/10; (French water)
I believe you Bugsaw! :-) *I* have places to sit, I just have a lot of stuff to sort through also and no one else can (or should) do it because they throw out the stuff I want to save & save the stuff that should be thrown
and stid, sorry to turn you in for your creative story but I am so glad you are so happy teaching.
My house is perfectly tidy :D
au5 and 7 are interesting workds
words
sorry I drifted off ((((BUGS HUGS!!!!))))
hey ruru!
it probably is ruru but mine sure isn't!
guh. francais. le ugh.
and merci!
I bet it is, ruru! Someone's house has to be! ;-)
(thinking the comma in Bugs' greeting makes it sound like she has friends to greet, and then there's Nef and Stid... LOL)
yes! NBT!
diplomacy may not be my strong suit stid ;)
*coughs*
LOL I miss you Bugs.
fer shure it ain't mine!
STID! Ouch! :-D
yay stid!
brb
off to watch our election returns for a while. Hugs all round to those who want or need one. bye
(thanks for the stat/clues, jes. Just got that 5 & 7!)
How is it going Bugs? I'm listening to NPR, but just hearing about earlier returns so far
back
Love you Bugs, hope the election turns out well
well... I am not finding more words and probably should turn in a little earlier than I have been. Have a lovely week, all! SO good to see you! :-D
de5/20 please?
babblet, jes
remove atmosphere?

de5/20, coffee without the kick
ah, thankee
thanks grannyrose
yw both of you
LOVE the picture (Icon!)
;-) so do i. we had a magic time.
By read your profile just now (again). I'm having a left total knee replacement on 11/11. I'm kind of bouncing between fear & hope right now...
That picture just looks like you guys were having a blast!
is that going to be your first?
Yes, but I've had a rt. total hip in 2011; and also surgery on my thumb joints for arthritis too.
ummm, nef, a tad different to those other joint replacements. all i can say is, if you are offered a spinal anaesthetic GRAB IT WITH BOTH HANDS!!
He is going to do a spinal; I'm going to be the first case in the AM & he says I'll be up walking that evening (whether I want to be or not, I guess!)
*checks to see what granny is grabbing with two hands*
There was a group of about 20 Rn's who I worked with for 25+ years; all in the same ICU. of that group of 20; 8 have had total knee replacements and only 2 or 3 have had good to prefect outcomes (which is why I've been scared)
ruru, spinals. you can't feel anything below the waist with them...
nef, my original knee replacement was the best thing i ever did for myself.
ni5/12 please?
Hi, Nef, I recently helped a friend who had a TKR. I stayed with her for the first two weeks. I could have left after the first week, she was doing so well!
ni5. ni + a nasty man, a bounder, or an abbreviation for a classic type of car
that's ni5/14, i need 5/12 please
I learned a few things: 1. Make sure you have all your supplies in before the surgery: groceries, clean laundry, medical support equipment, etc. You won't be going anywhere for the first week or so.
not a tenth
before the tenth
d'oh! thanks, nef
and granny
Oh, she's also 73. 2nd thing I learned: the surgery is becoming more commonplace, and therefore there is a LOT of information available. Pinterest has a lot of info, I found it helpful. ALSO - her surgery group had a patient support website, loaded with videos and info, very helpful.
JBs, I already know that. My DH can't drive anymore (he has MS); so I've already started stocking up of non-perishables; and will do a Costco run for fruits & veggies 1 -2 days before surgery. And I have 2 retired RN friends who live within 2 miles of me; plusmy 2 kids will be around (my son says he'll be here most of the time to keep an eye on us; but I'm not sure how he will do that.
NOw THAT is interesting! I'll have to check out Pinterest. The hospital has pre-op classes that are mandatory, a post-op support website would be helpful thought
3. Follow your prescribed regimen. Do the exercises. Take the meds. Do the icepacks. It WILL hurt the first few days, and you won't want to walk much, but the pain will subside, and you will be happy to get the function back as soon as you can.
over here i was a guinea pig for Stryker, manufacturer of prosthesis. i had a designer knee put in. it was wonderful.
un7 please?
not two-face.
granny, I'm allergic to most metal so they will be putting a titanium and ceramic joint in for me. I did well with that for my hip, it isn't a common joint for knees from the sounds of it
4. Keep a journal. Write down what meds you took when ( a spreadsheet is helpful if that's easier for you). Track your exercises and progress, it will help motivate you. Also good to show your doctor/post op care team. I also had a page of all the contact names and numbers for quick reference.
Nef, too bad they don't have transparent skin so you can show off your upcoming new internal jewelry!
thanks, granny
LOL, JBs! You sure learned a lot from your friends surgery! :-). I'm very sensitive to pain meds; half a Tylenol #3 is enough to snow me. The book they've already given me has all of the progress sheets for exercises; & I have to bring it in to the 1st post-op visit too.
Last thing, Nef, my friend lives in a senior community. So many people offered stories of their own or closely related/friends procedures and recoveries. It seemed to me that the ones that were done in the last five years had the best recovery anecdotes.
Like I said; to know so many of my old co-workers who've had this and to have so many with less than perfect outcomes (including 1 of the ones who will be helping me -- she says she "owes me!" after all I've helped her through with her TKR and spinal surgeries, etc) just makes me wonder sometimes.
Nef, I'll be praying for you for a successful procedure and recovery. You sound to be very prepared, and that will serve you well, especially in the first few weeks. I would definitely recommend that you have someone stay with you for the first few days if you can. My friend ended up on the floor (slid off her chair) on her first night home, and I had to call a neighbor to help me get her up! She was fine, we were laughing about it, but I was so glad to be there to help her. She would have had a hard time to get to the phone to call someone.
an6 please?
and my last hint is no matter what, get up off the chair and walk, even if it is only a few steps, every hour.
an6, an + vowel + not walked
Okay, I'm done, for now! I hope this was helpful. :) Thanks for letting me drive the chog for a while!
frogs or toads, an amphibian
