I slept a lot, yesterday and again tonight. All good. And I shopped and cooked yesterday. Just didn't go to singing lesson, I was too tired. Today I have to go to the hospital to see the dietician.

How is he doing?
Not great; we got the "put your affairs in order" talk from the oncologist a couple of months ago, and are starting to look into hospice. He's not ready for that yet but we are running out of options.
Oh, my. I am sad to hear that. Very sad.
So how are YOU doing?
There is still a chance that the chemo may work, but the last two didn't, so we are hoping but not hopeful, as it were.
Hope vs reality is a difficult balancing act.
I'm doing ok; the local hospice has a program called Transitions for people who aren't ready for hospice yet, so we've signed up with them. So a volunteer comes weekly to chat with Frank (giving me some time off), and yesterday the music therapist came, which was actually a lot of fun.
Frank is still able to do most things for himself (he has a little trouble with buttons due to the neuropathy and skin cuts). He's on a fentanyl patch for the pain, which helps a lot.
So he doesn't exactly need constant care, but I do all the driving, and stay with him through his (many) appointments.
Let Frank decide what he wants to do. Having autonomy during his illness and treatment is essential. And he must know that you are and will be ok too.
Yes, we've been talking about it all a lot, which is good.
There are some benefits to an expected death, as one can plan and prepare--talk to people, write letters, make videos, etc.
Indeed. My son has already talked about doing video interviews, which I think is very nice.
But I do need to do a few things before we go - good to see you!!
I worked in the Pastoral Care Dept at the local cancer center and one project was "Tell Your Story" in which people could do all of those things in preparation for their death and it was so meaningful for everyone.
