Hi and hugs Sprite
How are you and yours today?
busy busy, lol. Preparing for Caya's birthday celebration tomorrow. I finished the photo albums, made the cook book... now only the book with her birth congratulation cards... and shopping... and cooking... and wrapping gifts...
Sounds like you're well on track. I'm sure she'll be delighted. Have you managed to keep it all secret?
most of it, yes. *hugs* back at you, btw! I hope you and your beloved are well?
We're very well - as usual!
that is good to hear :)
Did you see earlier in the chat, there were some dictionary words?
ks killed. No, didn't see it. Do you remember what time?
12.43 - 1248
Still missing 2 x k
12.48 - of course!
Hah! K's killed here too.
good job. I like the words, am adding them
I shared the dictionary with some friends today - they loved it.
Came about after a discussion on FB.
great :) It is there to be shared. Glad they liked it.
added the new words, they are good :D Especially your mockart and zooz' lockart.
I loved Zooz' word.
why did i think grok was a word
hiya hursh. Because it should be. Looks like one. Do you know the def?
i'm thinking something in the food and drink area?
Hi hurshy
but no
with a good def I will add it to our own dictionary. Who needs enable, right?
it was made up for a book in 1961
phantom: sorrow
it's a verb meaning to understand by intuition or empathy
ah ok. In that case I cannot claim it for our dictionary :( Too bad it was already invented.
oh but it does say that
it literally meant "to drink", and then by metaphor got to be the other thing
i haven't read the book it is in but must have read or heard someone who later borrowed it i guess
very cool word, I like it
now i want to read this book
wth I will add it anyway. We make our own rules ads we go, lol
"Stranger in a Strange Land", Robert Heinlein
Wonderful book!
great book indeed. Added the word and mentioned the writer.
OK - got to go. Hugs to all. PS. Sprite, I just emailed you!
i shall add it to my list to read
awesome, checking. *hugs* Liz!
phantom: ogre
bye liz
I love "The Moon is a harsh mistress". And the word 'tanstaafl' that is in it.
weird that we can have brrr but not grrr
my thoughts exactly
I think 'mrrw' and 'mrrrw' should be valid too. I mean, if oink is.
well we have meow and miaou for that
to sorrode - to be worn away by sorrow
yeah but my cat didn't say meow or miaou. He said a clear 'mrrrrw'.
oh sprite, the other day i thought of something else funny. frank sinatra sang "come fly with me", but then in "i get a kick out of you" he says that flying too high with some gal in the sky is his idea of nothing to do! the man was clearly unstable.
*giggles* True, dat!
do we know if the k's are all 4's?
one of them is a plural, a 5. The rest is 4.
*she has the plural, and finds herself rather dopey*
lololol I know that feeling
how odd that ra6/33 is a word but it doesn't extend to a 7?
haven't done R's yet
i suppose it rhymes with gr7
ah, it is an adjective. Scots of course. That is why.
hehehe yes it does
like muckle!
gotta love enable
odorm - smelly student bedroom
*sheds a tear for mork from ork*
nanu nanu
Nanu Nanu - I spotted that! As you can see, I'm back :)
wb! Loved your email
Love odorm - very apt since we've just invited 4 travelling gap year students (son of a friend and his mates) to stay with us at the end of February. It'll be testosterone central!
I thought you'd like it. 3 of us had a good joke there - the other, I'm not so sure about!
lol indeed! Fun though. You will have a grand time with them
I'm sure we will!
yeah... some people don't have that kind of humour, I guess
We phoned the local high school yesterday - their notice board was promoting the Swimming Carnvial!
what is that?
Well, English is not her first language and I don't think she always gets all the nuances. She was having a bit of a dig about us pointing out grammar mistakes and spelling mistakes. All very friendly of course.
Carnvial - Carnival!
That's why we phoned the school.
oh lol! The spelling mistake was on the website! I thought it was you :)
It was on the school notice board outside the school.
it is hard to get all nuances in another language. Some things go way over my head here too.
Didn't reflect well on the school! I said Peter shouldn't phone because the mistakes they make, make me laugh!
Very true.
Not about you - about the nuances.
never thought i'd be so frustrated by NOT having "re" in the grid
true! But kind of fun to be able to tell a school to clean up their spelling.
one for the books, hursh :)
I'm sadly lacking in 8s (missing 3) and 7s (missing 4)
both are true, Liz, grin
cr + connects shinbone to foot
Yeah - kind of fun. There was also a 2nd joke going on there between one friend and me about disliking use of lol!
I am very fond of lol. Because in dutch, lol means fun.
Thanks hurshy - had that missing the first letter.
gr7/8 rhymes with what football players do
We both think it's becoming so over-used!
those are my 2 8s. Don't have the others yet.
So it does - thanks again.
i'm missing the other two also sprite
I have the ac 8
*looks*
yeah it is, Liz, that is true. Have to admit I do too.
That's a weird one! I can clue it (well I'll try) if you'd like.
yes please
It's becoming like innit in England.
ac + half of a flower + not many, nor few but ..
found it, thanks Liz
ty
I've just read the meaning - not surprised I didn't know it.
innit... another fun one.
i can't find any of those 2nd row 5th column O's
yw
can some one help with the os6? I'm stumped
ooh maybe that is from that o!
The guy in our local bottle shop (off license) in England, used innit at all times.
os + blind digging animal
os + rodenty kinda creature
os + blind animal.
and hiya Kateq :)
Someone earlier clued os7 as a toothy word, which I liked.
my clue now seems ridiculously vague
oh--so obvious once I'm told (lol) Thanks!
hindsight is 20/20, or so they say
Perhaps the best type, hurshy. Doesn't give too much away.
apparently they aren't rodents, but "insectivores"
as long as it works, hursh, it is a good clue
could be but they look a lot like rats, so as a clue it works just fine!
And they're not actually blind either!
they do dig, though
They do.
1 out of 3 isn't too bad, innit?
innit!
that's how he'd use the word.
:D
As a reply / statement.
but there are apparently blind mole rats, separate species, which ARE blind AND rodents, they are not related to moles but were named that because they live underground, like moles.
So derivative!!!!
are those the naked ones that look like limp penises?
i love derivative
:)
there are several species, sprite, so perhaps one of them
I just googled them! So quite probably is my answer.
Smorg - the way I pronouce Smaug
hehehe nice one!
au - as in autumn.
ortumn?
lol
that's the UK pronunciation.
Or definitely the London one.
i was gonna say - doubt the queen says it that way
but the queen is only allowed to speak with two hot potatoes in her mouth
Bet she does say it that way!
Even with a minimum of 2 potatoes in her mouth.
i know one of her chaplains, maybe i can ask him
Why not?
good idea. Tell him it is for the education of babblers worldwide.
i am totally stuck on the first co6/24
helps?
Don't have it - sorry.
um... first 3 of talking together + last 3 of grannyr***
ty
yqw
Thanks
and you too, of course ;)
:)
What movie was Granny's church showing this evening?
she didn't say
i love the line from the Christmas hymn, "ra4 on ra4 the host descending..."
Don't know it - but I think I have that ra 4!
all through the night?
OK - soon be time for dinner here. Probably won't catch you tomorrow evening - we're going out to eat with friends.
have a lovely time, Liz. *hugs* to you both.
If I don't catch you - have a lovely time celebrating with Caya. Hugs to all
fireflies. Anything I can help with before I go?
if not, I'd better be off. *hugs* for hurshy. Bye all!
please may i have a clue for the cr8
nm found it

Hi folks
Bichon, gr7 = a type of bird, similar to a starling
good morning
Hi Car. I did some reading about RFA of the SI joint. It is done on the nerves in that area and can be effective for up to 2 years.
You think it would be a good way to proceed?
And Thank you for even taking the time to look at it.
You are a blessing to me.
My question is this, though, if the nerve is already compromised/damaged, how does damaging further help?
I wanted to both learn about it and be able to comment on it for you. I read several sites. You have tried time, PT, pain meds, injection of steroid/anesthetic, and you are still suffering.
Ablating the nerve blocks you from experiencing pain.
But the damage will still be there even when the nerve "heals" from the abalation, no?
oooh...gr 4/8...I'd like a glass or two!
The goal is to "kill" the nerve by heating it in that spot.
But the nerve can regenerate over time.
I think, at this point, it really is my only option, besides more drugs.
I have had sacroiliitis myself in the past and know how much it hurts. I have been fortunate that the condition has self-resolved. But it hurts a lot and interferes with daily life, especially sleep.
ty Scrabs
I wonder what gr4 tastes like.
We had an excellent view of my left SI joint the other day and you could see the areas of arthritis developing. :(
I'm hopeful it tastes like rum!
And just so y'all know...we are expecting up to 8" of snow today...mostly falling this morning and early afternoon. We are the only school in Southeastern Massachusetts that did NOT cancel classes today. :(
gr 4 was originally made with weak beer, lemon or lime juice, and rum!
car, we are headed to Logan today
Oh, Bichon! Travel safely. Make sure flight has not been canceled.
The town's FB page is ablaze with comments
Supposedly, our superintendent has a wager to never cancel school
Enjoy your vacation, Bichon!
Take off is at 8:30 PM. By then we won't have a problem. We are driving to Framingham and taking the commuter bus.
We're going to Iceland
You should be fine, but there may be delays.
WOW!!!! Enjoy!
I don't care if it's delayed.
phantom: mongoose
Ahah, yes. And cargo.

On phone
Poor neighbor--husband's kidneys have failed, she is blind, he is being difficult, and she called for advice.
car - have you ever had your hip checked?
good morning everyone
That's a togh situation. How would she get him him to the hospital?
There is a Senior Services Van. He also has congestive heart failure and is coughing now, but needs dialysis at 11:30 in order for heart to get a load of fluid off.
I dealt with back pain for years....SI joint especially. Had PT, chiro, injections and nothing worked. The new Ortho I saw decided to check my hip because of the odd way I was walking. Found I was bone on bone. I had my hip replacement last year and guess what - no more back pain. Strange right!
your poor neighbor scrabbs
Allright, River.
Ooooh, River...Thank you!
Scrabs...you are a blessing to so many!
They were hit by a drunk driver in 1989 and both nearly died. She went blind. Both were left with ortho problems from multiple fractures. They have dealt with so many problems and now this.
a simple xray can tell. Everything is connected.
omg
wow
its a blessing they have had these years together
She had a near-death experience and saw our neighbor's son who had died the year before, a friend of her son's. He told her to go back, that t wasn't her time yet.
chills
I totally believe that....
os 5/12 comes from that fifth column O
Her story is amazing. She has no fear of death. She has had breast cancer since then. She is so calm and kind.

There are snacks! And desserts, & drinks!
and ice cream! I brought plenty of hard cider, too.
and chocolate covered strawberries
I didn't get to the refrigerator yet; stuffing my face with pastries first. ;-)
(BTW, dc, hard cider & ice cream don't make a very go4 float!)
hello...
but framboise and vanilla bean ice cream make an EXCELLENT float. ;)
hi penquis

TGIF, y'all! And hello.
Oh look, Judi is having a slow Friday afternoon at the office.
So rare these days.
In my experience, most people are done with the work week at about 1 PM on Fridays.
Wassup, Molls?!
Nothing much. Glad the weekend approacheth and I'm looking forward to some rest and relaxation.
I hear that.
my work week ended at (::checks clock::) 2:44 this particular friday. now it's just hangin out until i can escape. :)
On Fridays in the nice part of the year, Friday afternoons are a ghost town. All the people who have PULL check out early to golf or head to the shore.
Yep. Nobody here but us drones & minions.
hello all

Ar6?
not a phantom: i am a mo5 for not seeing some of these
ar6 noah's ar* + last 3 of flower
I don't think anyone is a mo5 for not seeing words in these grids. We are not all genius and finding words that are stacked up in odd ways.
Ty.
Last 2. Ro7 & 8.
*genius at
I was being facetious. Mostly.
Ooo, facetious seems to be the word of the week
Really? Why?
Anyone have clues for the Ro7 & 8?
Fireworks!
congrats Judi
I have another hour of drone/minion time before I can go home. I need another grid!
*Coins a new non-word: drominion
Ha! Coming soon: "Game of Dromes"
Watch, as the drominions scurry around to provide service to the elite
Off I go to attempt to look productive for the remaining hour! See y'all tomorrow! *POOF*
Humming Life On Mars as I log in & first words I see are Le 5/12 & LE 6/21. And mourning
the death of Mr Bowie again...
And, hello all. :-€

Hello Soodle, how are you?

Hi MLF
And Hi Mlf :-)
NA 6/7 clues please?
I'm doing well, thank you! I haven't seen you for a long time (more my fault than yours, I suspect)
under cover drug cops, MLF
it's a 5,6,7 word
Probably not Nef. I tend to play and not chat these days.. Glad to hear all is well in Nef-Land!!

ty nef
Frantically hunting for the 7....
soodle.. na?
I'm not usually on at this time of day, though.
Yip
true don't see you much
nef what 7 are you looking for?
Sold,add a vowel to the na6
yep
<--does not like this grid very much
Its funny to hear you guys talking about 'this time of day' it's almost 9.00pm here. Definitely evening/night..
4pm here
MLF, the go 4 is opposite of bad, the go 6 is a neck armor
neck armor/
?
As this is an international board, I find it funny that people reference "this time of day". Or say "good morning" when it is afternoon or evening for some. I guess we all stay focused on our own little world.
Oh come on MLF. You don't get decked out in suits of armor? : D
It's 3 PM here. I always get mixed up about times with people from other countries, especially Australia
its just a time difference foreign countries are ahead in time from the US
molly not in public
nef I know that Italy is 7 hrs ahead and korea actually is a day difference.. 11 or 12 hrs ahead if I remember correctly
I know several online friends in Australia, and for some of them they are going to bed when I'm getting up; but others areaway for several hours longer.
nef most I have seen in here are going to bed when we get up as well
The majority of people who chat here are in US time zones
I don't know if this has been posted here. I just read a message on Caring Bridge. From usue re Frank. "The end is near" she said. The hospice nurse was there and Frank was made comfortable. But probably will not last another day or two.
Thank you Peri. A few people have mentioned that about Sue and Frank. I have been keeping them both in my prayers.
I just got back here and I did not know
which Babble person is that about I am a bit out of the loop?
I'm glad you mentioned it for the people who had not seen it. It's a time for good thoughts and prayers for them.
very sad though whoever it is not a happy way to start out a new year
I'm glad that Sue and Frank got a chance to rekindle their love affair before all this crappy stuff happened.
Oh Lord. I just cannot imagine what both of them are enduring right now. My most sincere, ardent prayers are for both Frank & Sue. What an incredibly difficult time it is for both right now.
MLF, it's babbler use. She's such a dear person; my heart is so sad for her.
Uusue>
ohh uusue thank you for letting me know
It's hard to sit with someone you love and watch them pass. I did it with both of my parents. The only comfort is believing they are on their way to a better place.
Dear to very many of us, Nef. May she find the strength to get through this hideously difficult time.
molly so sad for you
It was sad, but my parents brought me into this world. I was grateful that I could see them onto the next.
how long has it been molly?
I didn't see my father pass but he is with the angels now
Molly, I've been there when several of our family members have died; sometimes it's heart-breaking but other times it's actually been very peaceful & (dare I say?) beautiful & spiritual even.
Molly - that was a very
nef that is not uncommon as people feel they go onto a better place
Molly - the sentiments in your last post were lovely. Thank you.
I truly believe that there is a heaven & also a hell. In my working life; I saw 2 men that when they died it pretty much scared the daylights out of me; later their family members told us that they weren't go4 people & the families were glad they died. Pretty sad to hear that
yikes nef
I don't believe in Hell. I think Hell is a concept created by the religious that want people to "follow and obey". I believe that there is a better place for all souls beyond this one.
I have 60 left may be back poof for now
My eyesight is a bit blurry with tears. I'll bid you all a very good night now. UUSue - if you read this, I will say special prayers tonight for Frank. Good night all.
Good Night Soodle, take care!
Which Eastern religion is it that believes that when you die you are reborn in a different form so you may try to attain perfection? (Sorry, I can't remember). None of us can predict what happens on the other side.
36 words left. I need to take a break. BBL
I'm just going to be recycled .. not worried about the rest
There are many people of faith that believe that death brings one to a higher spiritual existence. That is all I will say because this discussion forum is not exactly "deep"
*Makes a note to self that when Ru passes, to go light a candle at the landfill
(cash me in for a deposit molly)
*actually likes the image of a candle at the landfill
Now I'm imagining one of those drippy, dramatic images that get sent around Facebook that says FOR THE RECYCLED *sniff*
ru: think garbage piled on garbage with flammable trash on top, think methane gas underneath, think candle flame ... think WHOOOOSH
Um...the candle at the landfill thing was just a joke
no kidding!!!
!!!

Bye! Have a good night!

"Ah but best of all, when I start feeling ******, I remember the Plaza Del Toros, I revive by recalling that scene."
"And names like Delmonte Dominguina Manolete, if I live to a hundred-and-eight-ay, I shall never forget what they mean."
Hi doug
Hi. If I can't get the words, I can at least amuse myself.
