Yeah, hubby was supposed to bring something for supper + a bottle of wine for me. He brought partial ingredients for enchiladas and I winged the rest of it from there, turning tomato paste into tomato sauce...finding extra chicken in the freezer...but the enchiladas tasted great!

we had an early dinner, rose, and then the girl went to work and the boy to fitness.
i'm feeling rather pleased sprite. the infusion therapy is still working. i am very relaxed, no obvious pain, except for the wretched nerve in my knee.

kam, sprite, my doc and i are discussing the neuro stimulators. if the test run with the probes placed on my skin works i may decide to go ahead and have the full works. the fact that the TENS works so well seems to indivate the stimulators will work well.
exciting, rose. I so hope this will bring you a more permanent form of relief.

I am spending the morning at the local high school doing physical exams for kids doing spring sports.
You must love doing that.
It is fun to go to the schools, to hear the bells ring, to see the kids in the hallways, and to know that those years are well behind me.
Such distant memories. But good ones. I love going to my grandkids schools.
I also see all new students that have not had exams by their own MDs, so I go to the elementary schools too.
Elementary schools are the best. Those little faces.
I am the doc for 2 small school districts nearby. One district has just 280 kids in one building, the other has about 600 in 2 buildings. Out here in the country the school districts cover large areas but are small.
I love young kids the best.
Me too. I've been to my gdaughter's Montessori school a lot. Love the Peace Assemblies.
Little kids are enthusiastic about learning. By middle school so many kids dislike school and give up--social life dominates.

I have a maximum speed of 1mph as long as I have lots of rests along the way. My thyroidectomy was cancelled because of problems with my heart and tests for one thing have led to other things.
I am coping quite well but my husband isn't. He doesn't say much to me but he tells his family.
I'm sending healing vibes to you Jaxx and I hope all goes well and you can sit on my lap in my chair and will get us both around :-)

Lilliann, I am occasionally posting pics again on my website. The last post is some pics of the kiddo who is no longer a kiddo except in memory.... I need to get some of him that are a little more recent though. :-)
...so probably not so much. Though it is a children's hospital, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, to be exact, CHOP for short.

:-) I will always be grateful for the amazing care our Matthew received at the NICU at Mary Bridge in Tacoma. I would not want to work in a place like that -- I have panic attacks over saying the wrong things to my students or not teaching them enough. I don't know what I would do if I administered the wrong meds or couldn't help a child in a medical situation.
I suspect all the people who were there are now long retired -- 23 years ago!

Oh, Stiddy, all my doctors cover the NICU. They cover day service 2 weeks at a stretch, and then take night call otherwise. There are LOTS of doctors in our department. Our NICU gets the sickest and most critical kids in the area, CHOP is globally known as one of the best children's hospitals in the world. It's an amazing place.

TO, TO, TO!! I take the R7 in the mornings (still on old system in my head, take that, SEPTA!), Chestnut Hill East, and it goes RIGHT by the Owls stadium, I think it's their practice field. Boy, has THAT become a much nicer place since they are doing so much better in recent years! Yup, at CHOP now for two weeks, and loving it!

Stid, our NICU has 98 beds, and every baby has their own nurse. I can walk through the hallways and see into the pods, but I don't go into the patient areas.

Lilli, I am amazed at the skill and compassion of the doctors in my division. To me, it is the most heartening and the saddest specialty, but more heartening than sad.
