Good morning kids! Welcome back to the US, Dan and family.
Hi ya Scrabs!
Car, hello darling!
thanks - we are still waking up early, but mostly over the jetlag
Where did you go, Dan?
What an adventure you had, Dan.
Scrabs, any adventures planned for this weekend?
My youngest sister arrived from New Jersey yesterday and we hiked for a while before it got dark. Today will rain so we are buying me some new bras, haha. I joke that they need to be designed and built at The Home Depot because I quite top-heavy.
hey scrabs! congrats, dan!
hey scrabs! congrats, dan!
Hi Une, how is your body recovering?
good morning friends. HORRIBLE nights sleep, ugh
LOL...me too Scrabs!
Oh dear.
Hello Luv!
car! hi honey
Hi, all...so excited today. We are for to houston
Hi, all...so excited today. We are for to Houston
wow angel we can see! hahaha
Hi Angelsong!
airbag bruising to chest is much better -- swollen left leg not so much
(that was an answer to Scrabs)
hello, all :-)
Une, i am so glad that you are OK...despite the leg and bruising.
tx car :-)
Good news for you, Une. Trif, I had 3 horrible nights of sleep after we signed up little Jax for pre-K. He is a late-talker and I worry about him so much.
Trif, can you nap today?
tertiare didn't say so much as a word until 3, scrabbler, and she is fine now. I get the worry factor though.
no, no nap time for me today. full day, every second booked
He is progressing, I just worry that the teachers will not be patient or tolerant. He started preschool at 3 and they asked that he leave within 1 wk, but that was a teacher issue, which really angered us.
oh my god...that is horrible.
good grief, scrabs!
the last grad course I took the prof was AWFUL, and as a result we all got lazy as anything. started a new class on Wednesday night, and the new prof is the total opposite - stickler for rules, will be testing us every week on the reading, 25 hours of observations and three papers to write...
scrabbler, that is complete unacceptable for a teacher to do! I would have been furious. did he find a better preschool to attend?
Yes, he was upset one day when no one could understand him and bit a kid so the penalty was expulsion. To me that was a failure of the teachers to understand young kids and to be patient with his development.
jeezomeez :-(
One strike and you are out? what sort of draconian policy is that?
There were 2 teachers and 12 kids and the teachers said they were overwhelmed as they could not help a kid that could not communicate. We were so disappointed. He will return to the same school as it is a 2 minute walk from home. He is speaking better but is now at a 2.5, maybe 2.75 yr old level, and will be 4 in July.
But he knew all of the letters at 33 months and can read all of the names of our solar system which is his obsession. No, he is not autistic.
are early intervention services available?
He started speech therapy at 30 mo but it hasn't helped much. He is just a late talker. He fits the definition of the Einstein syndrome to a T.
http://tinyurl.com/jt26z4l
btw scrabbler, where do fall in the PANDAS controversy? true? false? overdiagnosed?
New to me but when researching late-talkers I discovered it and Jax fits it.
Probably true in some cases, but oversuspected. I have never seen a case, Trif.
I have had five students so far with the diagnosis - only one I suspect actually had something like what they describe.
from an educational perspective, it doesn't actually matter if it is true or not. If the parents get a doctor to sign off on it, we have to treat it as a sped case, and the parents can ask for whatever they want. that is how one family got to have their three children home schooled at the districts' expense.
School anxiety and refusal are SO difficult to treat, especially when the parents enable the child to avoid school.
I just did a huge research paper on PANDAS and it was so sobering. half of these kids are on the wrong meds, either way
What did you learn?
that half the kids have psychiatric disorders the parents don't want to face, so the parents put them on courses of antibiotics, sometimes for YEARS, IVG, and other means. the other half of the kids probably DO have PANDAS. and are on psychiatric meds they don't need, including blood thinners for tourettes, when what the really should be taking is a good course of antibiotics to get the titers in their basal ganglia down.
the pandas parent network is INSANE - I was looking at it from an educational perspective, and the things they expect from teachers are completely unreasonable.
one particularly frothy mom wrote an endless rant about how her daughter's teacher was "unworkable" because the parent had explained to the teacher that on certain days her daughter would need the accommodations in her IEP, but on other days she wouldn't depending on how high her Lyme titer was. but the parent was not having her daughter's Lyme titer reported to the teacher, nor even checked, the teacher was just supposed to intuit when her daughter needed the supports. In a public school class, with 29 students, 11 of whom were also on IEPs?
Yes, I figured. So many parents do not prepare their kids for adulthood and, instead, enable them to remain stuck in toddlerhood--egocentric, throwing tantrums, having no emotional regulation.
at the end of the day, its a child's LIFE - it all made me so sad
I was going to mention Lyme disease too as "chronic" Lyme disease is another controversial area of infectious disease in which some docs get rich from anxious folks.
I see it every day in my office, parents NOT preparing their child for emancipation and adulthood.
of course not! what does a helicopter do when the target flies away?
And the other term is "snowplow parenting." Clear the way of all problems so your child never has to face adversity or challenge.
I hope Jax has a positive experience this time around. poor little guy
hello all
Hi
hi car
hello mlf
He still looks at the school and calls it "my school" even after spending just one week there.
Hi MLFAN
there's a mom at the school where i work who, instead of dropping her son off like the other parents, parks and walks him to his class, carrying his stuff for him. i'm like, what is the matter with you????
Trif...I'm going to go pop down to the P&P SAle at church. Need anything?

scrab do you have the re 8/9?
Hi! Did I saw anything impressive? I'm shocked.
No, ML
I'm in Chicago.
Nice to meet you Hurshy
you posted a clue and then apologized cause it would imply past tense when that wasn't what the word was. the fact that you know grammar and notice your own mistakes was what impressed me :)
LOL Hurshy!

I catch myself in mistakes all the time, unfortunately. :-)

60 left for later. My sister and I are going to buy me some new bras, my least favorite shopping experience.
according to what I always here on tv is that women don't buy the right size for themselves anyway
congrats phae
congrats...
heard on tv sorry
I'm off too. good bye all, and lot of love
ty
happy babbling...pretty simple grid
Women seldom buy the right bra size. Get measured. It's the only way to get the correct fit.
And invest in some comfortable bras. As they can be the most uncomfortable thing to wear if they don't fit or are of crappy quality.
i am heading out....down to 25 and it's slow going...bbl to finish...bye all...
<---should have been a bra measurere
Missed your calling, so make the breast of it. :)
damn.. lol good one hego
Once in a while...
I would be a careful measurer though...exacting if you will
Bunny lady would be a challenge as she is quite well endowed.
they'd come in handy if her kayak ever flips I guess
:)
I kid her about those flotation devices.
see there ya go
:)
well. I can see this grid is also problematic after being so easy for a long while
I flew thru the first 45 and then bang!
Better go. Stuff to do. bbl
ok bye
Poof!
<---Just fainted at the idea of Ru measuring Scrabbler for a bra
good morning darling ! :D
Hello cupcake ♥♥♥
lol
I'm good at this. I used to have a running bit with one of the guys I worked with that involved schmoopy, lovey-dovey phrases. Hence, he is the only one who ever got away with "Moll Doll". : D
name that noun.. which presidential candidate is in the grid
moll doll. love it
I can be RU Pooh
Bernie, but we are doomed to one of the other losers I'm afraid.
it's a catastrophe either way isn't it?
Yes, and the nimrod American voters will make it another 8 year catastrophe instead of just 4.
uh oh politics
*Puts out little satin pillows for the sensitive
some of us like to escape from politics here
it's a quick discussion don't worry about it
Golly gee whillikers, how's the weather?

Some of us like to avoid constant cluing here, but that never seems to make it not happen

<--finished the s's one small miracle
Ah, we love miracles Reverend Ru. Hallelujah and Amen.
down to 17 but now stumped
Oh where are all the cheerleaders who would say Go Ru Go!!!
I'm afraid that wouldn't help me today
ah a hidden plural
hello
__ this morning but stuck now
88
how can a plural be hidden unless it's ae or ii?
... maybe it's all twisty ... or maybe the singular starts at one letter but the plural starts at another
Stuck and stumped, and yet earlier someone said it was a pretty simple grid. Just goes to show the different takes from different players.
hello dose
Nobody has ever heard me say how easy a grid is!
... only sarcastically .. .. afternoon ruby
There are those who claim "easy peasy" for even the most difficult of grids for others. It is really a matter of perspective. I would never call a grid easy, just because that seems demeaning to those who find them difficult.
... In eight years I've managed to complete two without using a list or clues ... ... nothing is easy until after you've seen the answer ... and this grid isn't going to be the third
I've only finished a couple of time because Molly carried me across the finish line
... is the tour going down your street this year ruby?
I gave up trying to finish every day a while ago. I was devoting way too much time to this place. Life is so much more than that.
... quite agree ... took up the same approach myself
I saw the route (I think) last summer and I don't think it will be close but it's better on television, anyway.
I'm too OCD to not finish a grid
I never finish. I just play until I run out of steam.
Last summer was such a catastrophe, that it's hard to remember!
Did you see my (clean) limerick yesterday, ru?
no. I missed it sorry ruby
I can see why OCD people would feel compelled to finish every day.
your name is easy to rhyme
... I know how you feel ... I haven't paid nearly the attention since Ryder Hesjedal won the Giro and then fell in the Tour and then got caught with some drug ... no one to cheer for any more
Ruby, you need to rewrite. Ru's limerick should be dirty, dirty, dirty. : D
I just don't like most things to get on top of me molly
I thought I was OCD but not about Babble
Most things...yes...most things ahahahaha
I keep the dirty ones in my head -- they're too "easy peasy" to write since everything rhymes with luck
I'm missing a b combo somewhere
There was a young Ruru with luck...
And Molly who hadlots ofpluck
They played many word games
Oh my, we had better stop right there. Otherwise we will have to get out the satin pillows again.
And never did name names
But Ruby is passing the buck
hah!
and ru managed to get himself unstuck
Ah, done with pluck, without running amok
DISCLAIMER: No old ladies or prudes were offended by these limerick lines.
Amen
I'm an old lady....and I'm alive!
see you later kids, time to cook dogs' dinner
I have to run for a bit.. a guy is coming to install some blinds here today.. need to straighten up
Does anyone have a list?
Lickety is up

Howdilly doo, neighborinos!
lol Hi Judi
Howdilly do Judi. Ned is in the grid today.
I guess I was channelling Ned.
You do that a lot. I assumed he was a hero of yours.
I love all the Simpsons characters!
d'oh!
Sadly, I haven't watched it in ages. Must do a binge watch, one of these days.
Binge watching Game of Thrones. Sadly am hooked.
It's all my nephews' fault.
Ha. My prom date's name is in the grid as well.
the grid is sending you vibes.
Such a manly grid.
There is a lot of good humor in The Simpsons. Which is why it has had such a long run.
I love Lisa the best.
Lisa, the geek child.
sigh...
Endless imagination in that show. I believe all the animators are Japanese.
I relate
Have you taken up Jazz saxaphone, Hego.
Have you taken up Jazz saxaphone, Hego?

Personally, I think exclamation points are so much more expressive than italics.
Okay. Time for clues. Mo6/21?
I think exclamation points are expressive too. They are just WAY over used.
"Don't look Ethel!!! It was too late. She'd already been ******"
mo6 ends in charged particle !!!!!!!!!!

Peri, you are a slim, trim girl. I'm glad you like Pilates but so unnecessary for someone with your shape.
RE8/9?
Think about the three kings again Judi
but I want to stay slim and trim and it is always nice to meet new people
Uhg. Thanks, again.
it is good to do some type of exercise at least 3 times a week. I also went back to by Body Sculpting class cause I have friends there.
Do you actually meet interesting people at exercise classes?
Whispers: *Peri has a sweaty friend fetish*
I think regular exercise is great. I prefer walking to group sweat sessions.
yes in the body sculpting class. which is in one gym. I also go to the Y and use the machines there and have not made any friends so far. maybe if I join one of the classes. I tried some of the senior classes at the Y and they were too low level for me. The other classes look too fast paced so I stick to the machines.
FIREWORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\n!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I only have the re8. help with others pls
yay for Judi
Off to get my locks lightened. See you kids tomorrow! *POOF*

MLF has become well read at morewords.com
yw sorry
yes molly I use the site all the time I love it
very helpful at times but not how I typed that word in I actually monkeyed it on my own
It is a good site and it keeps people from asking for clues they can find on their own.
most words seem to be there lol
<---does not like this grid

actually, I'm not nuts about it either.
Same here.

so true... it's really crazy... Hilary I get.. Mitt Romney I even get.. Trump? I thought I was hallucinating
I think everyone did
he wrote the most hilarious editorial in one of our local papers. let me see if I can find the link. It was ... quite something
http://tinyurl.com/hob75kf its worth a read for the sheer wtfuckery. he won scotlsnd apparently
Agreed. Here in MN we had our "celebrity" governor several years ago & we have finally recovered financially from him (Jesse Ventura). Lord help this country if Trump gets in. The problem is that too many people get their news from the talking heads media on TV... :-(
I'm trying to print this ata thank you
hello all. just back from a jaunt where I found the ag college farm market. lovely plants but also a big bakery. hard to resist
hi TO! soudns fun!
Hi TO. That does sound like fun.
i did not buy anything edible but now am sitting here grumpily wishing i had.
hey ata, hey nef
have lived so close it was the road never taken. got some lovely nicotiana to match my coleus.
sounds a good discovery :)
i love farmer's markets...we have several nice ones in and around dallas
we have one here.. I never seem to get around to going there
i don't go very often, but when i do i come home with waaaaay too much produce
actually, it is the agricultural college market. they raise animals, wondering if they serve them. they advertised home smoked pork.
We have a number of them here too. Our community has one that's every Tuesday evening during the summer; which I like to go to. But the problem is that our CSA basket comes on Wednesday afternoon; so if I buy something at the farmers market, I may end up with twice as much of 1 item and none of another (we don't know what we're getting each week for CSA, but it's usually nearly a bushel of veggies).
I'd like to find a CSA here. I think it would be fun to create good meals with "surprise" ingredients.
TO, our ag campus (part of the U of MN) sells meats every Wednesday afternoon during the school terms. We can get any type of meats (beef, pork, chicken, and occasionally turkey) all packaged
what's csa?
whats CSA?
Community Sponsored Agriculture
oh
thats neat!
you sign up and for a weekly or monthly fee, you get a basket of whatever fresh produce is in season
We pay the farmer in the spring & get shares of his crops for the whole summer
We paid somewhere around $500; and then for 20 or 22 weeks we get from 3/4 to a full bushel of whatever is ready that week
we don't have any farmes markets nearby but we have a local farmer who has a little shed with an honesty box in and he puts out whatever produce he has left over that day. gorgeous stuff
oh that's a great idea
it's a great idea, for the consumers and the farmer
(you can get half shares too; but we do this with our son & also our daughter
I can do that with wine :D
That might be interesting
i need to mow the lawn but i can hardly function outdoors, there is so much pollen today.
I have a way to fix that TO
get a goat?
send someone else to lawn mow?
hire a gardener
a goat is a great idea though
will wait till next week. goats are lovely but they smell awful. good way to get neighbor's goat.
I need to go do some work outside too. :-( it's cold here today so I'm not too anxious to start it.
mmm my fav cheese in the grid
i want to plant but it is going to get cold again.
*waves to ms greek island*
Good Eveningfrom Tuscany!

I have to run out and buy a weed whacker today
why can't you re-re4/4 something?
a weed whacker, for example
I just love the name weed whacker
river, are you traveling?
i think anything-whacker is kind of humorous
orts are just scraps, garbage, so i'm sure they have them even in tuscany
but probably with a fancy italian name
Not sure why Nef has to be the one who mows

Hi Worzel... I was always crap at telling jokes....

She figured he was blind and, as he walks in, he says to her: "Nice t*ts, where do you want the blind?" Don't worry about being crap at telling jokes - it was just as well you missed out that line lmao!!!

Oh dear, Worzel. I though
thought that was implied by the ogling..... not to worry, another good joke totally ruined by me...
I thought you joke was just fine, soodle
so did I soodle your joke was fine! Don't worry - it just adds a bit of smut and naughtiness to the joke with the extra line.
If I was a comedian on a stage now, I would have died a thousand deaths. Nothing like having to explain/justify a joke to kill it stone dead. Disregard my last couple of posts, please....
behave soodle lol seriously - your joke was fine! Mine - MINE on the other hand - my version was too rude!
Lol!
Lol!

I have a ton of jokes I can't repeat anywhere nowadays.
probably for the best anyways
Oh well then, we could have a fun couple of drinks and joke telling. : D
you're on
well.. I'm off to work .. so I'll catch you later.
Hello all
I love that joke, soodle. I heard a version of it about 20 years ago! Nothing wrong with smut, I say! I used to love the Benny Hill Show.
