hi rasta--I slept through the movie, except start and finish, so am awake now for a few minutes--nice talking to you tonight. sciatica doesn't work--
yes - citadel not quite there either
I liked squeegee in yesterday's grid
ks liked the movie--we saw it all--those awake--I got enough in the start and finish to enjoy it
was it the whole first season? or just 2 or 3 episodes?
refit
the whole forst season
is there a second? I assume they'll never find any treasure--so why a second? I liked the bit about male hiobbies
yes, I think there's a second.
Hi all
What movie is this?
the Detectorists--a Brit series--fun
Ok. :)
Phantom - guitar
phantom - bodacious
can't stay awake! will have to finish this tomorrow, goodnight all
nbs and nbt
good morning all
{{hugs}} and good morning sweetie. how was your yesterday and night?
*hugs rose* Good evening dear friend
pretty ok, kept low profile yesterday and slept ok. How was your day?
i have had another quiet day, doing the least possible... lol
good! am so proud of you.
brb, nature calles
lol... i just realised don is still in his "pj's". at least i got dressed.
hi Sprite and Rose, just typed in a message and it didn't just disappeared!! I left early tonight was too tired - slept but wakened by a dreadful dream!! so, back to babble
lol, a bit mixed up message!! not really quite awake yet
wb flosey. yuck on the nasty dream. babble a while, let your heart rate settle. xoxox
yes, pounding like a triphammer
brb, need to get meds etc ready. xoxox
thanks Rose
sorry sweetie, had to run. Stupid bowels.
hey flosey, so sorry you had a bad dream :( I know how that is.
ty Sprite - have to get it out of my head! so searching here for words should help - as well as talking with friends
so glad you and Rose are in here at the moment
and baa~~~~ack. XOXOXOX
distraction is good. And light, and if possible an open window in your sleeping room.
wb rose :)
good idea Sprite - just opened window here in the office - all is quiet and peaceful - neighbourhood sleeping as if nothing happened !!!!
yeah, that shows what they know, lol.
a gentle breeze blowing in flosey? rose-scented perhaps?
yes Rose, lovely breeze - but the roses are too far away
oh, dear. but at least you can hear the silence. that is so nice.
very peaceful
she could, rose, if you'd be quiet ;)
pfft sprite. here comes the squirt bottle....
*giggles* It is hot in here, I'd welcome some cold water.
ah Sprite, you made me giggle - but it's what I need - friendly chatter
lolol....under the table?
good :)
brrrrr oh rose, you are evil! :D
between your knees...
lol Rose, are you putting out anoher fire!!
you came to the right place then, flosey ;) What are your plans for tomorrow?
good thing you have already 'been'.... lol
I think a lazy day and bridge in the evening
sounds like a very good day after a night like this. Some reading maybe? What are you reading at the moment?
we had a lovely dinner tonight with a very dear young couple - good friends
too true, rose... you wouldn't want to make me go before I reach a toilet, now do you?
oh, nice, flosey. Good friends are the best things in life. What did you have at the restaurant?
not reading anything at the moment Sprite, doing crossword puzzles - there's a mag that comes out weekly, has a full page cw puzzle and just about my speed
crosswords are nice too. I usually do sudokus though, and if I can, cryptos.
not very good at crosswords. I think it is like babble... you have to do it a lot to know all the silly little words :)
dinner was here, we had short ribs, broccoli, lovely peas from their garden, tomato, basil, garlic, feta salad (old faithful) followed by lemon pie, tea or coffee
brocolli
oh my. so yummy
omg that is a menu to die for. Broccoli is correct, grin. But no matter how spelled, it is delish.
can never remember which is the double letter there!!
it is an odd word. We should have it in babble some day!
write it so seldom!
don and i are working our way through the 'kurt wallander' books... in order. and when we have finished, don has bought all the dvd's of the tv series.
have not heard of either the books or dvds, what type of story?
oh nice, rose. Well written and iirc also made into a really good series on tv.
don't watch much tv
detective flosey. written by henning mankell.
neither do I, but I like to watch series, on dvd.
I can be very happy with a good series and my knitting or crotcheting, and my little dog on the couch next to me
once in a while i tape a film that I missed and enjoy watching it - don't see many movies anymore
btw... today I have to go to the volunteer place for a training... we are going to work together with the telephone service that helps people who are suicidal... and the trainer actually managed to email us that we were to attend 'suicide training'. I wrote back that I didn't think that was a great idea, lol.
yes, a good movie is nice too.
hubby seldom enjoys movies - this will really date us - one of our very early dates was to see South Pacific!!
hehehe nothing wrong with being dated, flosey. You carry your years very well... and just like jilli, you are still so active and into young people and doing things like bridge. I admire you so much.
fantastic movie, flo
rose, sweetie, you are so quiet all of a sudden. Did a squirrel take you away from us or did you mis-aim that squirt bottle?
well thankyou Sprite - and yes Rose, great movie
new rose distraction... squirtle chasing
i went to get another bottle of iced tea, and that wretched nerve is definitely 'awake' already.
aw :( Time for a new infusion?
well, a cuppa nice hot tea sounds good right now, tks for the idea, brb
scroll back, rose... I was talking to you while you were gone :P
i think the denervation doc. john did last year....is finally wearing off. the nerve is regenerating.
lol at squirtle chasing.
ah, right. You will call him tomorrow and discuss it, won't you? No toughing it out until next time you see him?
*sigh* yes, i think i need a consult. and we will talk about the neurostimulator implants too.
good. *hugs*
Squirtle chasing made me laugh, and a second later I smelled skunk...some local critter got it, ugh! Hopefully none of my cats. My dog is safely asleep at my feet, yay!
BTW, Hi all!
ouch, Kamanjah, that is one nasty smell :(
hiya :D
ugh, skunk...dead or alive do you think? and hey ya kam
I know! And we finally opened up the house this evening to get fresh air after days of 102 F
Most likely quite alive, we're in the "country" - 1 acre lots, so rather rural.
smell of skunk is pretty awful and it seems to hang in the air for a while
how about a squirtle loaded with rose water?
sounds about right :)
I've never seen one or heard of one here on the Island but saw and made their presence known back in Ontario
My poor hubby had skunks mate under his old house one night - he worked animal services at the time and they sent him home to get a clean uniform. Well, his whole house and everything he owned smelled like skunk...what to do? A lot of laundry!
ouch, how nasty!
I'll take the rose water any time!! LOL!
think his employer should have suggested a holiday for poor chap
well, kam, you could walk around with a fresh unpeeled orange with cloves stuck into it. pretend you are in medieval england. that was pretty pongy.
They were ruthless, probably still are. They forced him into retirement because he has Parkinsons. Illegal as hell...
what? Oh that is so evil :(
??? kam ??? good heavens!! does he have no recourse?
If this house wasn't so hot with the doors and windows closed, I'd close it back up and start diffusing some nice essential oils!
terrible, I meant a paid holiday!! after all he'd been through
yeah a paid holiday and his clothes cleaned on their costs.
Lawyers said no because they offered him any open job in the county (population about 44,000) - but the only open jobs were computer specialists.
still sounds very very unfair
But, the lawyers sent him to a work comp lawyer, because he had several injuries that got worse, so we're hoping for a decent settlement on that...almost 18 months later...the work comp company is balking says the lawyer, I think the lawyer is stalling, not sure.
It was cruel!
those things do take time, but I should hope the lawyer would be firmly in your camp
that's a very nasty situation!!
hang in there kam. my work comp took over three years. but the wait was worth it.
The work comp company doctor gave him about 58% disability from the injuries, so they are going to have to pay up eventually!
fireflies
WTG SPRITE!!!
1:30 am, think I'll try to get back to sleep, thanks for the chat, bb in the morning
We're barely hanging in financially - bless hubby's dad for insisting on giving him some money every few months. Huge blessing.
We're barely hanging in financially - bless hubby's dad for insisting on giving him some money every few months. Huge blessing. Yay Sprite!
and WTG Sprite
sleep well this time, flosey! And sweet dreams
ty Sprite
sweet dreams this time flosey, dear
Weird, I hit enter, then typed Yay Sprite and it all came together the second time. Hmmm?
tytyty rose
Kam, good luck with the skunk business and even more with the work comp. Glad your FIL is helping. They will try to outlast you, the evil peeps.
Sleep quietly and well, Flosey, no more bad dreams allowed tonight!
you probably hit the up arrow by accident, Kam
it repeats your last post
Thanks, Sprite. We'll make it.
rose, my dear friend... sleep well, and have a grand day tomorrow. Doing as little as possible :) *hugs*
xoxox and lots of {{hugs}} dear. enjoy your day.
OK, I'm going back to the grid, have a great day or night, whichever applies! Type at you another night :) You ladies are all very sweet, and I enjoy being here on babble.
xoxox kam. see you again soon sweetie
xoxox to you too rose, hop that nerve shuts up - you have TENS, right? That is the only thing that saves me from insanity sometimes.
hope, not hop!
Good,morning! Is anybody here?
Hello, ruby :-)
((zzoozz))
Beautiful weather here. Hope it is the same for you?
We actually have sopme sunshine, but it's still unseasonably cold
It's great for the (unpruned) roses, but I doubt there'll be much fruit.
We had around 26c/78F here yesterday and they say it will be the same again today!
I actually still had fires last week, unheard of in June
My apple tree did not have much blossom this year so will not expect a big crop :-(
There were lots of blossoms, but <>I thinik the fruit will fall off aand not ripen
Yes it has been a cold year so far.
At least, the garden looks very beautiful with floppy roses everywhere
Love it when the garden blooms and the birds are in the trees tweeting away!
And peonies have started
Have your dogs started to shed their fur yet?
sorry, doorbell!
Started? haha. If <I could knit, I could have knitted two (large) dogs out of what they've shed so far.
Rufie lets me comb him and I FILLED a wastebasket with his fur yesterday.
But Miss Pricess Raffie only leys e groom her a little, and she's the one who needs it with her very long fur
princess*
((ruby)) I read where a woman kept the fur shedded by her puppy, combed, carded, and spun it. She then proceeded to knit her pooch a doggy-sweater with it all.
((( phantom word : suicide
Phantom "suite"
lol, I should read the times once in a while. Ruby's post is almost two hours old :)
Hello ((bichon)) ad ((crossy))
I actually knew a woman who did that but it's bad enough combing them as they are not exactly clean
I'd have enough fur to make a sweater for a horse!
Good morning
((car..))
How are you today Ruby? ((ruby))
Better than usual, thank you. And you? On the mend?
Yup...doing well!
And it's not raining!
We had a much needed rain yesterday, but back to warm and sunny today!
The garden is fullof shambly roses; I guess the rain nd chill remind them of England
But without some warm sunshine, I don't think there'll be fruit
I've hit a wall at 90 words -- nothing biggr than 8
I'm only on the third column
I'm not so well-organized
More like my roses -- allover the place
I find it so fascinating that each babbler has their own method of doing the grid.
I try to start at the left but then my eye is distracted with words I see in passing
I always start at the left upper and go down each column, but if I see a word I may forget, I put it in.
ca 8 plz
Hello Ivesy

morning, all :-)
Good morning Ivesy & Une
bonjour une
:-)
Hi all :)
Hello Liz!
Hello Liz!
Hi Ruby, Car and Une - how are you all? How's your recovery going, Car?
Very well! TY
Very happy to hear that :)
Issues when I get low on fuel, but other than that, really well.
good morning and ty!
Simple solution to that! Don't get low on fuel :)
Hi Ivesy
une's clue was more delicate lol
Yup...need to keep healthy snacks with me
Thanks for that ca 8 - although I only have 42 words left, that's my only biggie!
go liz! :-)
I do have the advantage that for me, flip is at 3pm!
So, I found most of those words earlier today.
Are you far from the eavt rain band "king" tides, Liz?
heavy*
On Saturday we had 250 mm of rain in 24 hours. There's been a fair bit of erosion on the beaches.
HAGD everyone!
You too, Car.
The weathermaps are horrifying!!
Huge King Tide on Saturday night.
bye car...
Thankfully we're well past the worst now. The surf's still high and it's still windy but it hasn't rained since Saturday night.
I guess it ties in with the moon and the start of Ramadan
Those poor people in Sydney - the pics looked awful. Australia's not doing well this week - one killed by a croc, 2 by sharks and 3 by floods.
The king tide definitely ties in with the new moon.
The firs two events are preventable but not the third
My "helper" isMuslim, but not really observant
Very true - particularly the croc! That really annoys me. People ignore the signs and swim in areas where there are crocs. The crocs attack and then they kill the crocs.
She had to taste my peach jam!
I'm sure it was delicious!
How are you Ruby and how are your gorgeous pups?
It's like that gorilla in the US, why wasn't the mother holding onto her kid?
The pups are wonderful but need more combing than I can manage
Also true - I totally understand why they had to shoot the gorilla, whether I like it or not but the responsibility is with the parents and the health / safety conditions of the zoo.
I do some every night, but the amount of fur is astounding!
Their fur is sooooo thick! Must be a huge job.
I think the mother should be charged with reckless endangerment and have to do community service, maybe cm
leaning up gorilla cages!
cleaning*
With the gorillas inside the cages??
Sure! LOL
:)
I knew that was what you meant!!
In Florida, when they build too close to the <Everglades and alligators wanderinto housing developments, they kill them
They eat people's dogs
Stupid to build so close to the alligators' habitat! What do they think will happen? But still, protection of human life must come first.
I'm not so sure....that's mean Nel talking!
52 left and I give up
Nice t "see" you Liz!
Well, I love animals too. Not so sure about all humans - especially those who ignore signs!
You too, Ruby - look after yourself and your dogs.
Agreed!
hello dear friends
Hi Trif
How are your Ireland plans coming along?
gosh, lizlin, it's so funny you asked! Planning an actual vacation is HARD! It was so much easier when all we did was go up in a plane, come down, get collected by the inlaws and go right to their house. All the arrangements! Car hire, hotels, activities - whew!
but we are getting excited. I will be FULLY excited when my new passport arrives, and we have all the details settled....
Ireland is so great - all of the things we most want to visit again are 100% free (Giant's Causeway, Glendalough...) so not much of a burden there. We all agree to spend the extra $20 a piece to get the one size bigger car. We are going to be in it a LOT so it seems money well spent....at this rate we will probably sleep in it one night too!
Yes it is hard - when we went to London the last 2 times, we also visited Devon and Cornwall - deciding where to go etc. etc. finding the best hotels, guest houses etc. - all takes so much time. But it is fun!
We want to go to Ireland next time we visit the UK - I've never been there, despite living in London for most of my life.
One of the easiest things is traveling with four college-aged companions. Their willingness to sleep, er, "rough" makes finding cheap accommodations a snap
Good idea to get the bigger car - not so sure about sleeping in it though! A killer for your back!
So cheap accommodation for the kids and something classy for you!!!! Sounds about right!
no, no, cheap for me too! I did splash out on ONE place, in Wexford....
four poster beds, full Irish breakfast, the whole deal
I was joking! And I'm sure you'll really appreciate your Wexford splash out! Sounds wonderful.
We usually look for Bed and Breakfasts when we travel in the UK.
If anyone here is going to Ireland, please take me
it does. I MUCH prefer bed and breakfasts as well. This place in Wexford is technically one. The biggest bummer is the late check in policies most hotels have - 2 or 3 pm at the earliest. We are flying all night - let us sleep a few hours in the morning, then go about our afternoon!
Hi bichon
you are very welcome to sneak along with us, bichon. There IS extra room in the car, after all
Most of the B & B's will store your bags for you - especially if you contact them first - at least that's our experience. Some might even let you arrange an early check in if they have space.
gosh, why does my free period fly by so much faster?
I am definitely going to try that, lizlin
Nothing to lose by trying it!
I am a bit nervous about being the only driver. No one else on the trip is over 25.
Also try to get into the time zone immediately - don't try to sleep during the day but walk about and push yourselves. Go to bed early in the evening. Best way to counter jet lag.
I know, I know...but it's hard to sleep when excited, and on a plane, and on and ona
I'm sure the driving will be fine - you'll adapt to driving on the correct side easily!!!
we are landing in Shannon, and getting the car right at the airport. If we have energy, I would like to go right up to the Cliffs of Moher....but we will see
on of the nice things is that we can pace ourselves. No one to keep up with but ourselves
I sometimes take a night time cold remedy to help me sleep on a plane. Or try a light sleeping pill from a pharmacy - but try it out at home first - my hubby reacted really badly!
But even so - I never sleep well on a plane!
I usually take a sleep aid anyway, (hellooooo menopause.....) so im okay with that
I do fear I will spend the trip whip cracking the teens/young adults into consciousness - they all sleep and sleep and sleep in real life
Sounds like the way to travel! That's what we try to do - but sometimes our UK friends end up dictating the pace of our holiday.
The only time I have slept well on a plane was when we weeere bumped up to business class on a flight to Brazil
and I am GLAD as anything there are four of them - off you go to the pubs, kiddos - momma needs her reading/sleepy time
Hmm! You'll have to find a way to counter that - want to make the most of the holiday.
that sounds wonderful bichon!!!
really I should be taking them the other way - in Hawaii they would be up at 6 every day
Me too bichon - just once flying from KL to London.
and don't rat me out, but most of the itinerary involves me being able to check out the sales rack in EVERY Monsoon in the country
More to see in Ireland!
I love Monsoon!
I LOVE monsoon!!!!
the fact that Dubai has one, but we don't, is still a bitter pill
:)
I don't think Monsoon is in Aus. Definitely not where we are.
Well, I'm down to 26 but still missing most of the biggies!
Pray tell, what is Monsoon? Clothing?
I'm giving up - will come back to finish tomorrow morning. Lovely chatting.
Hi Annie - yes, clothing.

hi everyone, thanks Liz

I see patients after-the-fact...recovering from surgery. Yes, lots of those. And ribs, traumatic brain injury, pelvic injury, you name it.
we also care for people after elective surgery, knee and hip replacements...
do you use the bregg ice pack systems?
no, as don
no we do not. we have Cincinnati ice packs.
they are great -- I had 2 bi-lateral knee replacements last year and my doctor recommended that I buy a unit. It was put on as soon as I got to recovery and I had no swelling at all, therefore a really quick healing time.

In fairness to Marc, he is travelling at the moment. Perhaps he was Babbling in an airport or train station & had to move swiftly .
And hello all :-)
ty for the clues.
I agree Mixi. Great clues today 😊
Is that soodle?
Ruby darling. Xoxo
helo Lady!!
I rarely get to see you due to time differences. I was truely saddened to read a couple of nights back that your husband had passed on
I've been in and out at strange inttervals
Yes, he died in January and I'm still cleaning up his paperwork messes
Wow. We really have been crossing paths. I am saddened to read this.
His lat year was very sd and difficult for both of us
Sorry for typos; I'm typing in bed
How are you?
I am ok. Dad passed away in March. This is the first time I have publicly said anything.
But making it to spring has been a great accoimplishment!
Trying to move forward. It is hard.
Oh, I'm sorry. How old was he?
75
(((((Ruby))))) ((((Herin))))
Burt was 90 and sick for a long time and it was merciful.
Mum and Dad were married for 49 years this year.
Hi Soddle.
Herin - I'm so sorry for your loss.
((Yay, Madam((Soodle))
Hey Rubes! How you doing?
I think I should start sleeping all day so I could see my friends ate night!
Ups and downs but today was the best AM in a long time
I actually went outside, howeverbriefly LOL
Lol. I took a power nap this afternoon - Now I'm raring to go, and I wont sleep easily!
Thanks Soodle. He was a good egg. As sad as it is we lost him after 4 months of cancer diagnoses
You need to takee drugs NOT it makes sleeping easier
Why was this morning good, Rubes? And can you repeat the feel-good thing tomorrow?
I think I need to move to the opposite side of the world so I can have a spring and summer redo
We haven't had much of a spring;it's been grey, wet and cold
Good for the roses which think they're in England, threatening to take over th garden
<Are you fr from the King tides and rain, <Lady
We have had a GLORIOUS Spring. Recent weather has been tropical. Today brought thunder & lightening storms.
Summer was spent with too much on my plate and not enough recharge time. Feel like it has been winter for too long. Think this winter is going to be tough.
(having trouble typing a's
No where near me Ruby. In another state
No where near me Ruby. In another state
Last year was the worst, so anything is an improvement.
Soodle. The last great house shaking, 2 hrs long, thunder storm I slept through it.
Australia is unimanagebly huge
and so many hours away
Soodle, on the other hand is almost nerby -- not exactly, but one of these days....
I hear you on that Ruby. I scrambled all my finances to see Dad at Christmas one last time. Meant I missed out on seeing my Grand Nephew, who then passed away at 4mths of age in Jan.
Heck, Herin - I hear you! You just gotta try to think of yourself & your own mental health. ( Said the expert .... ðŸ˜)
Mental health or just mental :D
Take your pick!!!
We're a gloomu sub-group, but I'm smiling "seeing" you both!
I choose laughing over crying. It is dead serious when fart jokes aren't funny
The onlyy good news is that I've become close friends with my first oncologist here and she visits once a mointh or so, as a friend, but she can confirm that my care is correct
I told my Dad he better not die on St Patricks day. He passed at 11:45pm , march 16th
Fart jokes are always funnty, especially when I share my lunchtile brocolli with my Rufie and he later shares it with me
I dunno! I thought once one had negotiated puberty, marraige, having kids etc, life would have got a bit less complicated. I was wrong 😔
A quote from Annie Proulx in Shipping News, "Dof farts fell family of four"
Ruby. We had a couple of weeks where they weren't funny. Loosing our grand Nephew was hard.
dog*
Pffftpffft Soodle. Being an adult is over ratwd
I have ca7, sc7 and th7, what are the other stats for the other 3 7's, please?
Losing chyild is so much worse than losing an old lan whose care was killing le. I got down to abouy 87 lbs and aged &Ã years in 3 months
I thought Dof was a French word. OOOO one of my friends moved from Aus to France countryside and loves it
Where in France?
Mum is a bit excited at the new retirement houses being built in town. It fits her 2 year plan
Mum is a bit excited at the new retirement houses being built in town. It fits her 2 year plan
I am not sure where
How absolutely awful to have lost a little lad of 4 months! Thats just NOT fair. Dreadful. My condolences, Herin
Marc. I am on my phone and haven't found any
The dogs are bi-lingual say Off instead of woof. They and the garden keep me from despair!
Soodle we never got to meet him. In hospital I got to cuddle him and say goodbye. I got to tell him stories
oof* typing lying down is overrated
that is too sad
thanks no problem
We as a famy are strong
The little guys liver was donated so another child lived
May I borrow some relatives? I have friends here, but my family is in NY, London and Texas
Marc!!!!! You were in Ireland & never told me!!!
Borrow away. I pinch the other halfs all the time.
Ooo. I also cut off my hair.
Herin - that must be a comfort to his parents?
My son visited a week ago and now we're barely speaking. He objects to my typing in capsn sometimes necessary when I'm tired and bmurry. He says that I'm being rude!
It is a comfort. Family bought a Pandora bracelet with his Initial, and first things. They also named a star for him
I am on my iPhone 4inch screen. I can barely see the darn screen
That is lovely! I did noting for my husband;he ashes are unburied, still in the pantry. He wanted to be buried in the garde with 3 of the dogs
I'm insufficiently sentimental; we had a grand love affaier, but it cooled waaay down in 20098 and never recovered
2009*
Girls - its been a bittersweet chat tonight. Herin, ((((hugs) on your 2 recent losses. Ruby, I love you to bits, Marc, how dare you not contact me from Dublin. I'm away to bed. Love to all.
Nice memories, though, if I ignoge the last years
Tucks Soodle in
Ikeep losign my place. I'll try to call you sommorrow, soodle
Ruby my friend moved to Sainte-Foy, Aquitaine, France Current city
Dad's ashes are going to be scattered where he walked the dogs
fr far from gere but if you come and visit here, trainszrvice is proably good if they'" not on strike
I type like English is not my first language
Have you been getting that awful rain?
We had a lot but the house is on a hillside so it's pretty safe, just depressing

Cut it short and turned it back to its normal colour

Marc Freeman! Are you still here?
yes what can I do for you?
I was just in Dublin for a wedding?
Its very seldom Babblers visit this neck of the woods! Did you enjoy your stay?
We did. The Irish people are so nice and friendly?
The weather certainly was in your favour!
Where was the wedding?
Just outside of Dublin on a farm in Bray.
Oh right. Wicklow. I'm up

(I always seem to find "words" that aren't words here; I seem to try the same words on every grid; but they still won't work! I'm now at the point that I think they aren't words at all (& that may be the problem too!)
I have the opposite problem :-) I find words here that aren't words in my vocabulary. And then I want to use them in other games (like scrabble) and they don't work.
