plus i have been following a high fat low carb diet and my blood pressure has come right down to a normal range after 3 decades of being way too high LOL. Who knew a cchange of diet could do that so quickly.
plus i have lost some weight into the bargain.

and yay medusa! Exercise is so important. And eating healthy too. No fad diet though... that only works temporarily and actually makes you gain weight faster as soon as you stop dieting.
although it contradicts everything we have been told about diet for the last 40 years. But, hospitals in either Denmark or Netherlands are using it very sucessfully with diabetics, to reduce dependence on medication
there is a lot of scientific evidence for the LCHF, that is what I like about it
I have been watching the biggest loser again! It always makes me want to do something. Was going to do it here but not worth it. Have a lovely field I could use but landlord is so nasty. Wont go in to that again though. lol. Thanks for the link glant. I will go look at it when I have done babble. ;)
I walked at least 5 miles a day for about 18 months and it didn't do anything in terms of weight loss or lowering blood pressure. I did feel better mentally, and it certainly helped with coping with bereavement. I need to start the walking again, but one of the articles on that website explains why the biggest losers have all regained their weight and more....
my advice would be to check out the LCHF life style... not a real diet, it is actually turning around your way of eating. And find a kind of exercise you really enjoy. No need to run if you don't like that. Walking is at least as healthy.
what Glant says, lol. Diets make you gain weight in the long run. It is a scientific fact. We have been doing it all wrong for ages.
oh, I know it is a lifestyle. I never gave up butter despite all government advice to do so, so it is great to be able to eat it with all my healthy veggies LOL
YThey have? I have not read it. I have to be careful coz of my back so exercise is gonna be hard to work out. Will find things though. Will be walking a fair bit with the dogs. I intend to go for the lifestyle change. Want to be healthier.

the point of the LCHF thing is that our bodies need fat. Lots of fat. If we get it in our diet, and don't eat sugar or carbs, our bodies use our fat stores

My cell phone is a very old model, and I use it only to make phone calls--I do my computing at home. At work, I look around in the deathly silence and see an ocean of people, with their earbuds/ headphones on, their faces bathed in the harsh light from their "smart' phone and other mobile devices-- often I fully expect to see drool running from the corner of their mouths. I am the loneliest guy in the lunchroom... :(
I have a flip phone. Use it for phone calls and some texting. I had a friend of a friend pull my friend aside to tell her that I needed to be told to get a new phone.
Mine is a old Nokia "slide" phone from the same time period, Kittychan
Funny, when you think of it. Just a mere eight years in electronics and your device--whatever it is, is ancient...
Mine actually isn't that old - was made to get a new phone when my husband switched plans but was able to get one that is more or less like the old one.
I did use an I-phone 4S at one time, but I found the monthly expenses too onerous. This old Nokia carries for 15 dollars a month, and I usually have time leftover at that. :)

Until recently I had a little 2G stupid phone. Then ATT said it wouldn't be supported anymore. My daughter had given me her old 3G iPhone so I got it activated and kept my same pay as you go plan. I use it so rarely, that's the best plan for me. I pay $100 a year and never use all my minutes so the unused ones roll over.
I have an old Nokia 6010 from 2006 on a pay as you go plan. I only use it for travelling, and I put $50 on it once a year. Beloved has a smarty-pants cell, but I don't want an electronic leash.
I only use mine when traveling as well. Still have our land line at home.

I do like being able to take photos with this new cell phone. And it connects to our house wifi so I can share them with family. I disabled that function for away from home.

How is the cat on the cat cam, Hurshy?
she is... stable for now. we do not know exactly what her underlying conditions are. she has a slight fever, indicating some sort of infection/inflammation, there's a bit of fluid in her lungs, and her heart has some issues. we're hoping she will be evaluated by a cardiologist tomorrow or soon at least.
Poor little thing. I hope it pulls through.
yeah, she's the sweetest thing. she was found, blind in one eye and going blind in the other, and pregnant, in a colony of cats that live in a certain forested area in canada.
her eye's been under treatment, she had the kittens a couple months ago (had to have a c-section for THAT)
and she's supposed to be feral, you know, scared of humans and stuff? but from like, the first day, she just turned straight into a housecat. she was happy to let shelly help her.
and for the last couple weeks she's also been foster-mom to two other litters of kittens
Sounds like she has been through the wars a bit. Hope the little ones will find a nice loving home when they are old enough. And I also hope she herself will find someone to love her and take her in.
they will all get great homes, for sure. from being on camera, people kinda tend to fall in love with them, and people apply to adopt them :)
