good morning all
{{hugs}} and good morning dear friend from a very sleepy, tired rose
hi Sprite
Hi and hugs, Sprite and Rose
*hugs rose* Hello dear friend, you have been busy. How are you?
{{hugs}} liz. fancy seeing you he4.... loll
*hugs flosey* Good evening to you, I hope you are fine.
Funny lady!
Sorry we've exhausted you!
*hugs Liz* Good evening :) How are you and your beloved?
nah, all is good. a nights sleep will do wonders
Also fine but tired. Whale watching means an early start.
ditto Rose, very tired tonight!
did you guys have a grand time together?
sprite, we have been out whale-watching. was up at 5:30am.
*snuggles with rose and sprite and .... tosses choclits at everyone*
Having an awesome time.
oh wow! Yeah that is early, but so worth it, I imagine.
hi Stid
marvellous. haven't stopped talking yet
stiddie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *hugs*
*snuggle* stiddy
I hope you can sleep tonight, flosey, and rest up a bit
6.15 for us this morning. The whales were lovely but not active, so I was very disappointed.
;:-D
aw Liz :(
Poor Flosey - also hope you sleep well tonight.
(((flo))) was it really hot for you today, too? I was near Seattle and they "said" it would be only about 70, but it was close to 90 in some parts!
tks Liz! no whales here though! When on our ferries, if the captain spots a whale he will announce it
but it was just so lovely out on the boat. no whales leaping out of the water but lots of sightings as they surfaced.
yes Stid, quite a warm day
They came pretty close and there were some good fluke up dives.
almost as good, rose :)
I have never been officially whale watching... sounds lovely, though
yup. and there we4 two mothers with their calves. so cute
It is lovely Stid and you should do it if you have a chance.
That was pretty special. Don't see mothers with calves that often.
They reckoned the calves were in their first week.
I am quite jealous :) Wish I was with you guys right now
We wish that too.
ditto
We did see a HUGE whale that time Mother and I took Grant along the sunshine coast -- the crossing from courtenay/comox area to the mainland was so excellent.
:)
Definitely wishful thinking going on here too, sprite.
Wonderful! I don't grow tired of seeing them.
oooh! I GOT A NINE ALREADY!!!!
imagine, stiddie... a meetup with Liz, rose, flosey, you and me...
WTG Stid.
I think Rose quite likes our winter climate too!
yayyy stiddie, good job
She sat on the boat in a T shirt but I was in a hoodie and a jacket on top of that!
and another... oh gee sprite! We wouldn't sleep for three days! The first time I met flo (and hetty and jilly and dilly) when I was with the boys, that poor little restaurant barely knew what to do with us. We talked and talked and talked. For me, that was a major leap of faith and a victory... I don't even like getting together with my own family most of the time! LOL
rose, like me, has a little bit more padding, Liz. And we get 'hot' more often too, I think
wait wait -- you and rose got to spend the whole day together???? wow .... :-D
uh huh
Rose has been here since Sunday :)
wow awesome, stid!
and loving it... loll
Us too.
gee... that is SO COOL!
Definitely is.
hence my jealousy :)
pain so much better in this climate
oh wow rose. That is worth thinking over, isn't it?
don't be, sweet sprite. your turn is coming i promise
How lovely to have a nice, long visit -- I only had a couple hours with Kiwi before she flew off to turn into a cowgirl at the Stampede... LOL hoping for next time!
nah am just kidding, sweetie. I am really really happy for you and Liz that you are having a grand time together.
After this summer's allergies, I am becoming more and more reluctant to travel AT ALL. Which makes me very sad, because I know so many lovely people through babble. Even in my own environment, though, things get dangerous so fast. :-(
That sounds awful, Stid :(
awww poor stid. such a hateful place to be in. xoxoxox
BUT -- I am so grateful for the internet, because at least I get some contact with you all! (It isn't fun, Liz -- feeling sorry for myself tonight can you tell?)
aw stid :( And nothing to be done about them? Did you try a... what is it called in english... a doctor who specialises in herbs and supplements etc... checks out your whole system to see what is missing etc?
Yay. 9s complete.
a bit of self-pity is healthy, stid. You need to whine every now and then, and you need to cry once in a while. (((((((stid))))))
Like Sprite said, nothing wrong with feeling sorry for yourself.
I have talked to people, done research, etc -- the problem is that there are increasing triggers, and the triggers themselves are so sudden and severe that I am not willing to try much in the way of allergy shots (half of the allergies don't have shots anyway).
*sniffle* thanks for understanding, friends! On the plus side, the enforced at-home staying has meant that we finally got the front garden weeded and replanted -- only two years after we moved back in! LOL
It's going to be beautiful once the plants recover from being bought and moved.
beauty at home is a big consolation. But it still sucks that you can't move around freely
Hope they transplant well.
And I do get to go visit my grandfather for a few days this month (an anniversary present); there is a hotel with a little kitchenette and a sitting room so I have a place to be if I need to. We are going to see Shakespeare plays in Ashland again.
Sounds lovely.
Which plays?
wowweee you still have a grandfather?? That is amazing. Sounds like a great outing for you.
And we planned it far enough from the beginning of school that if I have to spend time at home for a while, I can.
Hamlet, Timon of Athens, Twelfth Night, Richard III, and a new play called Vietgone that finally has a description up; I may have to give it a miss.
My grandfather is a "step" -- quite a bit younger than the grandmother he married... he'll be 90 in January!
I love Hamlet and 12th night (lazy me!) - don't know Timon of Athens at all and only slightly know Richard 3. I'm sure you'll enjoy them.
wow, respectable age
90 is wonderful.
Indeed -- he still rides his bicycle and walks the entire length and breadth of the town as needed.
That's amazing and helps keep him fit too.
my paternal grandparents were like that too.
My grandmother (the one he married) was often thought to be younger than him... LOL she was 17 years older! I think I take after her. We're older than we act! ;-)
I'm going to love you and leave you. Too tired to see more words now. So, 40 for tomorrow. Hugs to all.
*hugs Liz* Sleep well, dear one!
(((Liz))) Have a great rest of your week!
Thanks, guys.
{{hugs}} liz. not far behind you. xoxox
P must be overjoyed to have Liz AND you in bed :D
hahahaha
(((gr))) have fun for the rest of your visit! <3
oh -- NBT. NBS, halfway...
good job, stid
you-all are my lucky good-luck charms!
*beams* I like being that!
:-)
this is a lovely grid
fireflies
and now under 100 (to 98)... LOL time to sleep for me, too. (((sprite))) have a lovely Thursday.
anything I can help with before I go?
YAY SPRITE!!!!! so glad I was here for that. :-D sweet dreams and happy days, all! *poof*
*hugs stid* Sleep well, dear friend
rose, sweetie, I bet you went to bed too, or preparing for it. No squirrels there? *hugs* and sleep well, and have a lovely remainder of your stay at Liz's.
WTG SPRITE!!! wen t to sleep... lolll. xoxox my dear. will try and email tomorrow.
sweet dreams stiddy. lovely to see you xoxox
and, as they say in the classics, exit stage right. xoxox to all
off to bed, bit headachy, 56 for tomorrow, goodnight all
off to bed, goodnight all

<I don'tmind the he** but I worry about ther dogss
I dont think anything of trumpff except that he is an utter idiot...
ditto
I think politics everywhere has got very disturbing..
I'm afraid that he'll win! I've always liked Hillary, I just wish she wouldn't shout as I think it alienates people. She should take a hint from Jackie O; when you speak softly, everybody leans in
Do you really think he will win Ruby
God forbid.
well for the sake of the world I really hopehe doesn't.
France is certainly scary and there's a big outdoor festival in Annecy, 10 mins away,y the 1st Sat of August

Trump is going to cause a lot of people to vote for Clinton even though they don't like her.
Has anyone here read the Republican platform. Lots of eyebrow raising ideas. There are some that go against Supreme Court rulings
why doesn't that shock me at all bichon?
i don't have the 4th 9 letter word either
http://tinyurl.com/hes8l8j
Molly i say the heck with either of them
If we don't vote for either of them, what are we accomplishing?

Both are very easy words Peri. Just laid out weird.

I was thinking of voting for Snoopy or Kermit
lone d is de 5/14, a pl; lone e is er4/4 mistake
I like evaporated milk. Not that I am a coffee drinker. I will drink it if it's mostly milk

it's an asp
cleo's asp

that is the first one
MLFAN.....what do the letters of yr name mean. I am dyslexic and I transpose them and get mixed up. If I knew what they stood for it might help me remember not to di that, if you wouldn't mind sharing.
i don't mind sharing at all aeb:)
Meat Loaf Fan
as in the singer/actor
Is that his name?
not biologically
its a name he was given due to his size at the time
I guessed that. I don't understand the size bit. What type of music did he produce?
Apparently, Mr. Loaf needs to drink more water while performing.
molly he used to drink before he performed and i don't mean warter
water
Oh... I know Meatloaf!
*!* ta da *!*
aeb YES :D
That does help me MLFAN and Molly
off to see what damage I can do to the golf course -- it's supposed to get up into the 90's today, so I may only play 9 holes
hagd everyone
I'll just think Meatloaf Fan when I type ur name here!
Bat Out of Hell was his first album and he is also known for Eddie in the Rocky Horror Picture Show
well aeb that is fine as that is what the screen name is:)
Oh I know him well...and I loved him as "Eddie"!
me too
Meatloaf is not the only celebrity to have had problems with alcoholism.
aeb they are doing a new version of the Rocky Horror Picture Show for tv coming out in oct of this year
That's for sure Molly
Thanks for sharing MLFAN (I was thinking Football fan before u cleared that up for me)>
aeb most people in hee have said Maple Leaf Fan
Oh goody! I'll have to watch for it .....to watch!
yw aeb
I like MEATLOAF FAN better!
me too especially since i am not Canadian though i have heard of the team
Why did no one guess Malt Liquor Fan?
those words are not capitalized i guess Molly?
I never drank or drink....so I wouldn't have thought that, but my Dad would have.
Or Monica Lewinsky fan?
Molly really?
My last name isn't Clinton, Molly.
aeb should i change my icon to a pic of him would that help?
mien either aeb
No. MLFAN>.....I just got your name here memorized with Meatloaf.
thats good aeb:)
:)
Ur name here could also be Meow Lover according to ur photo, MLFAN.
hmm thats true too aeb lol
but the 17 is significant to MeatLoaf for me so that wouldn't work i would have to put that in lower case letters
I like it with Meat Loaf.
thank you aeb:)
i have put some of his lyrics in my icons/pic on here at times
Not now
nope going with this icon for a while
i have 3333 points at the moment
good for u! I have 4056 so far.
i need the ad 5/14 right after the ad7?

If I could choose any kind of ha**, it would be re* and curly (and, of course, <I'd be tall, too)

The curly part is the most important to me - I have a standing appointment for the very tight perm every six months!

hi again. how are you doing today?
to whom is your question addressed, Nef? if me, i am good thanks.
Anyone who may be here. It's HOT in Middle America, & I'm melting! :-)
yeah i just saw it trending on FB, heat emergency
Yeah, we're being told we're '''lucky" that we had thunderstorm last night because it (supposedly) lowered the temp today; so it's *only* 99 degrees
yuck
and the humidity is way up too.
i take it you don't have AC?
we do; but I had to be outside for 1/2 hour & it was miserable.
(DH had put some CFL burnt out bulbs in a plastic bag & they fell & broke all over; so
i had to clean that mess up.
(sorry, I didn't realize I was hitting the "enter" key; I guess my brain IS melting!
i had no ac for three days
and it is going to get worse. i wanted to go to some of the convention events. but not in that heat
i have been waiting all day for a fios tech who just called and said he cannot get here till at least 6.
(((TO)))
stay cool anyway possible
you as well. does it usually get hot and humid there? it does here, but not as long
Not like this. We may have a day or so with temps in the 9o's, but that's usually in August ("dog days") when it's dry.
This has been a very strange year here
this area is brutal for heat and high humidity. but air temps around 100 are not the norm
those democrats will be sweating for sure. my concern in light of recent events is that tempers are very short, vis a vis protesters and police.
A trick I learned working as a nurse: if you are very hot, & working, run cold water over the insides of your wrists to feel cooler fast (we did this whenever we were washing our hands - which was very frequently - and it worked to run hot water over your wrists if you were cold too)
I hope that the Democrat Convention won't be bad.
(Sorry, too many interruptions going on to be posting punctually today)
i do that trick, it does help . i was mowing earlier and i nearly fainted
Hi Nef and TO.I do the cold water on wrist too when i'm having a hot flush. It's humid here at the moment and hubby has a fan on him now but he also has a cold so he's hot with that.
it's 31 . here, but it's nearly 6pm/ not too humid now
We're not used to it being as humid where i live.Even the winds haven't helped, as it's just blowing warm air around.Good weather for drying washing though! :)
going up to 35 next few days with humidity
wash seems to hang forever in humidity
YUK!!!
It was 28 here at one point
Which is very hot for us up north.
THE WIND HERE HAS BLOWN DOWN A NUMBER OF TREES LATELY. I WOKE UP WITH TREE BRANCHES IN MY YARD; FOR TREES WE DON'T HAVE & NEITHER DO MY IMMEDIATE NEIGHBORS!
time for a break, must make dinner and get shopping list together so i can run when the repair is over
i have not seen the squirrels, perhaps they have died of heat stroke.
Sorry for "yelling;" I guess I need a break or a nap. BBL
We've had some wind and sun so that tends to help here
hat'll not be nice TO
oh, that is an awful thing to wish for. they would fall out of the tree and i would have to gather them up.
(& they'd stink!)
that would be my only regret. awful little buggers all over, dig up everything, chew up everything
i fear they may go into the attic
Same here; Squirrels & also chipmunks this year
Now, I'm going. As I said before, BBL for the last 100 words.
That's a shame Nef.We have loads of trees as we live ina village. We have had severe winds here lately but it seems to have dropped since we've got the humidity.
and i tey to leave and they are on the front porch. or the back steps. they will be worse as it gets hotter and drier.
the local wildlife will be desperate for water.
I had a grey squirrel once in my garden last year and liked seeing it as we don't tend to sere them much.Probably trying to get the bird seed
Saying that, they've practically destroyed the red squirrel,so they aren't that nice!!
re8/45 the first one please?

hello! 64 remaining here.
Hi HH
hi lilliann. I'm about ready to list
I listed at 70 odd because i wanted to finish at a reasonable time as hubby is home for a few days. He's catching up on Gotham so i can get on here :)

hi Stiddy
peri! :-) I framed the picture today... hold on, I'll go take a pic so you can see (it's not on the wall yet, that has to wait for Tom to be home).
Hi (Stid).Have you finished for the Summer now?
:-) About halfway through our summer break, lilliann -- it's not going to be long enough for me this year, but it will have to do. If I keep teaching after this coming year, I'll need to find a way to rest more efficiently... having the yard and house closer to "done" will help.
I've just read your profile as i was looking at your picture Stid. Rens gone? when was that?
re6/33 pls. my last word'
to do a picture again
nm FW for me
ty lil
YAY peri!
She died last winter, lilliann
Peri, i should have known better than have clued you ! :-)
Yay for Peri! :)
stiddy can you post the picture on FB?
I didn't know that Stid as i wasn't babbling then.I liked Ren.She wasn't that old either was she?
bye for now
I changed my icon, peri
Bye Peri, tc hin
I still see drums
I might need to compress it a little lilliann... hold on.
I think if you hit refresh it would work, lilliann
And no, Ren and her DH were not particularly old -- but fires don't care.
OMG< i didn't know how they died.R.I.P both of them
Sorry Husband was arguing as he's over tired as he's been away for weeks so any little thing sets him off...I'm not allowed an opinion but he is!!I just back off now as life is too short to argue, especially hearing about Ren and her husband
I am completely unmotivated right now... going to come back this evening after Tom is here. ((hugs)) be well. *poof*
*Tries to imagine Lil not being allowed to have an opinion* : D
You've not met my Husband Molly...He'd give you a run for your money!!
Bye Stid, tc hin
hi lil
Hi TO.
When we first met, he told me i needed to speak out more , so i do and the n he has a go at me...
Saying that, he is the nicest guy you'd ever meet...you need to know is sense of humour, b ut he'd go out of his way for anyone that needed help
that is a good trait in a man
It's just that when he comes home he is over tired so we get his anger, which isn't bad...he just gets shirty and has a go at us...i want to ague back as that is my nature but i just keep quiet or bow down to him and i hate it as i've had enough with him being away and having to deal with a moody teenager
You'd like him TO
so you are eager to reconnect but he is drained and wants rest
Yes TO..
I'm actually crying now ...I'm being stupid!!! He should get rest..He has days off away from us and he can't get home, so i'm just being selfish when he can get home, as in spend time with us but i also want him to just chill out.
no you are not being selfish, you are being human!
i have to run. the cable man finally arrived and cut the cable though i insisted it could not be a dead wire. did not exercize or eat today
just waited around. see you soon, lil
Bye TO.Thanks hin.I hope everything goes well with your cable.TC hin.
oh dear god! i just got a spam email spoofed from renny feld. sweet jesus.
i think i need a drink. maybe two.
OMG!How did that happen?
someone with that in their address book got hacked. but you were just talking about her, that is too bizarre
Spookie!! I didn't have Renfield in anything.I ha ve anw computor and i don't go on fb, twitter or anything else and i don't have many names to email
For the simple reason, i don't want to be hacked as i have been in the past
imust go try to salvage the day. take care, lil, and don't beat yourself up
i'll try not to TO. Thanks hin. Great to catch up with you as normal.Hugs.
hugs back. go to bed!!!
I will in 10 minutes :)
re7/40 please?
re and plus pt
Marc, you don't have to thank me but please acknowledge that you got the clue...
I have been coming in and out. I haven't gotten the last two clues. I realized that I hadn't thanked you and I am sorry for that. Trying to figure it out.
No problem hin.re and not minus and pt
Just found the re7/40.
thanks
yw
Sorry Marc, i didn't mean to have a go at you.
first re 8/45 please?
hi, all. we got new floors installed yesterday. Turned out beautiful, and took nearly no time, considering we were prepared to wait days for completion.
re an first 3 of to make some something and insect
thanks lil!
glad to hear your flooring installation went so well Angel
That's great Angel :)
Luv, you have to stop coming on here as i want to hug your dog all the time
these re's are killing me
lol lil! If there was a way to make that possible I would
she now has to share her house with my son's cat but she's doing remarkably well
If you lived here i'd steal her :)
Does she chase the cat?
no, at first she tried to play with it but he was having no part of that so now they are coexisting. Even laying next to each other on the sofa
I wouldn't really steal her, as i hate it when other take other peoples's pets
I know lil, you have to kind of a heart to do that, I can tell by your chats
ahh, that's great, especially for a dog and cat
"too"
2nd re 7/40 please? I know it starts with the color but can monkey it
Thanks Luv. i just want to cuddle her again....
she'd love that!
Think 'ginger top', Luv
thanks JBs-I seem to have a tough time with compound words
re7, isw someone with a certain coloured ha4
thanks lil
Me, too. Then it's painfully obvious when clued!
yes I just want to do a he 4/5 slap to myself
Sorry but i won't say the gi word as my bairn has that colour but different shades and has been called that throughout her life and bullied because of it
I think that color ha 4/5 is beautiful
i like the re7 word better
kids can be so mean and try to find any little difference to pounce on but that's what makes the world interesting is differences
just finished-thanks for the clues JBs and lil, couldn't have done it without you.
any clues needed?
She has 3 different colours, red, auburn and blonde and always has done .She's always been complimented by adults but children just say ginger.
Ahhh, i just said the gi word!! :(
Yay Luv WTG Hin :)
hey again.
I still need 2x 9 words
Hi again Stid
there's a wo 9, wa 9, re 9 and ai 9
I still need 7 X 13 words...
hi stid
;-) it feels like it wants to make a thunderstorm, but I don't want to go outside to bring in the garbage cans... so I am pretending I have accomplished a lot today.
i need re9 please and i don't have the 7 before if that is what it goes off
re + what makes a tire stay on the road and pt for the 9
air7/9 aswell
great clues, ladies!
ai uses the word I couldn't come up with for the re I needed
haha, lilliann, I saw you say the g word! :) I've always wanted more of that color myself, just have a bit of it.
it's a pt
S T I D M A M A!!! :) :) :)
JB!!!!! *breaks out iced MJCL smoothie maker*
thanks for the 9s...
yw stid
I can help with the 7's if you have an idea of which ones you need
now I need 4 x 21 words...
Oh, such perfect timing, stiddy, it's going to get up in the 100's Fahrenheit tomorrow and Saturday
pe6/24, please?
pe 6/24 ends in picnic pest
Think of a necklace word, Marc, missing one of its letters
I saw the weather maps this afternoon... yuck. I am so sorry for most of the North American continent...
I think a pe 6 is a person who is stuck up on knowing everything?
Further on that, Marc, its the repeated letter in the necklace word
and that too, stid!
yep. definition of pe 6: stidmama after too many coffees.
Listen to her, Marc, she is the teacher, after all :)
rofl.... snap, JB!
any more clues needed before I head out for the night?
Thanks for the clues already, Luv! Now pat that kitty and doggy, and have a happy night :)
do you know how to make a molting quaker parrot happier? we are bird sitting, and he is just feeling yucky.
thanks JBs you have a good night too, nice chatting with you all
Would covering his cage help? That's all I got without Google.
thanks got it
Look, stid, Marc is catching up to you (in knowing everything) hee hee
They are paving the road in front of our apartment building RIGHT NOW. At 9:30pm. Even on the 14th floor, it's loud and rumbly. I guess it's best they do it at night to not impact commuter traffic, but oy, it's LOUD.
And the backup beepers are incessant
Night luv, sweet dreams and tc hin.Give your lovely dog a hug from me.
lilli, will you please tell your lawn troll to stop mooning my cat? <snicker>
I've told him, but he says 'it's too humid at the moment and i need some air'.
ha ha, that's cute!
sorry -- realized it was cooler outside than inside and had to open up windows!
Trying to count to 14 in FLOORS. *stanches nosebleed* not working *faint*
That has to be annoying Jbs with all the road noise..they seem to forget that people stil need to relax and people who work shifts need too sleep at nights aswell as people who need to be up early and work all day!
Don't rub it in, stiddy, we won't open the windows for a couple of months yet.
Yes, but think of the inconvenience if they were blocking daytime traffic. *cross-eyes* I really don't "get" city-living!
I imagine you have airconditioning, though...
Yeah, well, lilli, what with our public transport reeling from losing over a 3rd of its passenger cars due to faulty welding (they discovered cracks in a crucial part in 115 of 120 cars), the roads are exponentially busier, and they are trying to stay on schedule. I'm sure they've been yelled at a fair bit already tonight!
:-D I think Tom is home...
oh no, JB! that's atrocious... awful time of year for it, too
Thankfully, yes, AC is necessary.
YES! Tom is home! Now he can tell me I am beautiful despite dishevelment, and help me hang all those pics.
Oh, yeah, and the Democratic convention starts here on Monday. More people on the trains, whoo hoo!
Go for it, stiddy! Make your home even lovlier :)
YES! My book from the Siskyou County Historical Society came!
That would be even funner if it was from the Kissyou County Historical Society.
"Plants and the People: the ethnobotany of the Karuk tribe" -- so excited. I love learning about the indigenous practices of people in local places I have been.
So not good for public transport or roads your way then JbS! That sucks
Happy for your happiness, stid! But that book would make me yawn big time. Give me a book about architecture, Zentangle, or Discworld, and I'll stay up way past my bedtime!
Have you got a skate board or what's those things that you stand on and hold onto and they go on their own?
and my woot order... "Thinking Putty" little tins of plastic stuff -- some of it changes color, it will stay malleable for a long time, and per item the cost was affordable so I could get one for every child!
Thankfully, lilli, it didn't affect me too badly. I have to take a 6:23am train in to work to ensure I'm there on time, but at least I do get a seat on the train. There are some stations that the trains don't even stop at (closer into the city) because they are already too full and just cant fit any more aboard.
The bairn and i love zentangle
No skateboards for me, lil, my brain is keen to go, but the body too vulnerable to breakage from a fall.
Now that I get to work an hour earlier, that's my learning project. I really like it!
zentangle sounds like a lot of fun, but I haven't tried it yet.
Can they not put on more carriages on the train? or more smaller trains or, i was going to say buses but it depends on how far the stations are
Oh, stiddy, loved silly putty as a kid. My mom hated it, especially if left in a pants pocket and then going through the wash.
The east cost transportation is a huge mess, lilliann -- commuter trains run for hundreds of miles sometimes, and buses would take forever to go the same distance.
Stid, you probably did it when you were younger...Zentangle is basically a sribble and then either coloured in or different paterns put in the squiggles
these little tins will be kept in their personal work boxes -- if they lose them or take them home, I cannot afford to replace them.
I think it won't be as troublesome as sillyputty -- it has a different consistency.
I did zentangle when i was younger and that wa 40 odd years ago and i didn''t know it...If i'd known how popular it was now i could have made some some money! :)
Well, lil, they are leasing passenger cars from transit agencies in NY, NJ, and from Amtrak. It's a real mess. And yes, there are buses shuttling on some train lines. I think they are doing the best they can, which isn't much compared to other systems that are run better in other cities. I'll finish with that. It could be better, but it could be much much worse. And in truth, very thankful that they found the problems before a disastrous tragedy happened.
Agreed, JB -- the last thing we need is another tragedy on those lines.
So true, lil! There's a little bit of backlash on the internet that "someone" copyrighted it and packaged it for money. But there's also so much out there, I'm putting my own learning program together.
For all that I enjoy playing games on my phone and tablet, I'm really relaxing with the tangling.
I've got to finish this grid and go to bed. I'm a working girl again! :)
I used to do it with bairn,i'd just draw squigles and she's either colour or do patterns.
Well, i hope the trains get sorted out.We had trouble the other day because of lightning on the tracks so the signals' were out and that put our trains back for hours and it was only a short distance.About 40 minutes on a train
Good talking with you, lilliann, thanks for the chat! Good night!
Night hin, good chatting to you too.Sweet dreams.
sweet dreams lilliann --
Hugs, stiddy, if/when you get back to the chog. I'm gonna take the rest of my MJCL to go, thankfully the virtual caffeine will not keep me awake :) Showers of (hersheys) kisses your way, stay cool, have fun with the pictures and with mr stidmama (not necessarily in that order <grin>) and I'll catch you soon again!
sweet dreams also JB ((hugs)) be well.
I'm not going Stid,jBS is
oh -- LOL I'll be back in a minute or two -- want to reheat leftovers for supper. Too hot/tired/late to cook from scratch!
That's why we had a take-away tonight :)
Howdy there babblers
Hi Origami :-)
How are you doing cheeky lil?
I'm not too bad hin, how are you?
Work is hellish, but I am house/pet sitting for a friend in a nice place. That is good!
sorry to hear that. What are you looking after?
My friend's corgi. My beasties are being watched at my place by my son's friend. I miss them.
I bet you are.Could you not have taken them with you?
Her house is on a creek with a walking/biking path on the other side of the fence. They are big dogs and would probably have tried to bust down the fence to go visit the foot/bike/dog traffic. They're hounds. They can't help it.
I think we had this conversation a few days ago and i apologise if we did, but my memory isn't great since my balance was destroyed, so i tend to forget what people say here unless i write it down, which i do and then i lose the papers.
I don't think so, but no worries. I rid my mind of any data I don't think I'll need again :-)
My friends laugh at me and say "how nice to experience everything anew again." :-)
How longer are you there? I bet your dogs are missing you just as much as you are
They return tomorrow. So I get to go home Saturday. Looking forward to doggie cuddles, gardening and my own house :-)
back -- bird needed attention, too. *sigh* never ends...
Hi stid
hey origami!
I come on here to help my memory...it doesn't always work though and i chat to people as i don't get to chat much but i forget what i've said to people and what they've said to me so when people on here say something about what i've said, there's times, i have no idea what they are talking about...sadly.that's why i have to write things down but i can't always do that either, because i've typed alot my fingers hurt(arthritis),
oh lilliann -- that would be frustrating for me -- I don't remember names very well when they are new to me, but most of the time I am not horrible with details.
Great origami.I bet they'll lick you to bits and home is always the best
That's all workable lil. Nobody is keeping track. It must be difficult, but you are among friends. So, I am sure everyone would understand.
I hate dog licks. My dogs know that. But when really excited they try to work one in :-)
I am not fond of dog licks, either -- cannot understand why some people do (but then I am not over fond of kissing in general, so...). But I love to sit with a dog in my lap or nearby so I can pat it.
down to 60... is there more than one fi in the grid? should I just go and list now?
I used to have a brilliant memory before my balance problems but i know Origami. The Bairn has told me i repeat myself and i forget words and it is 'give us a clue' with me.I frustate both of them as i just say'thingamyjigs and do dahs'..lol
I love my big dogs to snuggle up against me, lay their heads in my lap, lean against me. Anything but licks. Yuck.
no Stid,just 1x fi
okay, thanks *thinking*
Well, you thingamyjig and doodah us all you want :-)
I miss having a dog, but couldn't walk it
But i have my cat who comes under the cover with me when she wants!!
I'm a "thingy" and "whatchacallit" person myself... ;-)
I wish I could tolerate felines!
Yeah. I actually don't walk my dogs. My son's friend does sometimes. I do engage in very energetic play with them though.
You use a wheelchair, right lil?
Ha Stid. I don't like cats. Yet, I always seem to have one. Cats are assholes.
Lol Origami, i will...there are times i've nearly done that here. I've gone to clue and then forgotten everyday words and stopped and nearly said, it's a thingymajig....:-)
Or, maybe, a whatchamacallit
lol Stid, i also say whatyoucallit?
It's funny -- I like cats, and they REALLY like me, but with few exceptions I cannot breathe around them. Sort of a no-go for me. Which makes me sad... There are some strays in the neighborhood I would willingly take care of if I could!
Yes, I'm in a wheelchair Origami
Lol about cats being assholes...they are very selfish creatures
Do you remember when we used to put racing stripes on your wheelchair in babbleland -- and the little handbar streamers... and fancy lights on the wheels. I think you also need smoke trailing out from behind, lilliann.
It must be to do with their hair Stid?
Or their food, or their specific proteins -- I don't react specifically to longhair cats -- one that I CAN cuddle with is a fluffy orange one. He likes his tummy rubbed. LOL
But I had a really bad reaction last summer to a desert cat from Arabia with short hair. :-( And I react sometimes to people who have cats who are visiting in my classroom or home. It's an obnoxious allergy to have.
I am actually allergic to any mammalian dander. So I am even allergic to my dogs. I was allergic to my horses. I am allergic to cats. I just put up with it.
A desert cat from Arabia? OK, you have to share how you came into contact with that.
Actually, i don't Stid...sadly.The bairn has a go at me for not remembering things.I remember talking about wheel chair races with a couple of people, one was Flask.
A friend adopted it when she was teaching in Abu Dhabi, and brought it home with her. She came through our town, and the cat escaped its crate. She had to be elsewhere, so we finally cornered it and kept it safe until she could return. But I had to use my inhaler A LOT and wash everything several times before I was okay again. I thought (optimistically, or foolishly?) I wouldn't react because it wasn't an american cat... oh well.
No worries, lilliann -- it's one of the memories I carry with me from those early years of babbling. :-) That one and having races with hetty to see which of us could finish first. And then we'd clue as fast as we could to help the other one finish. Those were good times.
Ha ha .. not an American cat :-)
eating corn on the cob. will follow chog, but not type for a bit
Oh, i do remember go faster stripes
I have to say a fond farewell myself. Time to rustle up some grub and settle down for the evening. Night Lil, Stid.
So Origami, you'r allergic to most animals then?
Night hin, tc, lovely to chat to you
Yes. But I am used to it. Nighty night lil :-)
Corn on the cob, i love that.
yes, I appreciate it when it's in season -- we actually grew some of our own the second year we were here -- didn't get very big, but it was flavorful!
FINALLY got the last F word -- a superlative in so many ways!
Is it easy to grow?
It isn't difficult - but you need a large amount if you want to get actual ears to develop. It is typically wind-pollinated. We did hand pollination because we only had space for about twenty plants. We weren't entirely successful. :-) It also takes a lot of nutrients out of the soil so it's a good idea to add a lot of (very specific) fertilizer as it develops.
We used "fish tea" to help it grow and the next year planted legumes to put nitrogen back in the soil.
No good for me, as i can't gt into my back garden until it's wheelchair friendly and front is full of pots and i can tend to them with help.
If you like the look of corn, but don't want to eat the cobs, there are some nice tall grasses that have similar foliage. That wouldn't take too much effort.
Lilliann -- if you EVER come to Washington state and want to visit, my house is (not perfectly, but really close) accessible. I could add grab bars and you could get around just fine.
Just sayin' -- as time goes on, I am getting more and more of the garden accessible, too. My goal is by next year the front garden by the fish pond will be accessible; and I want to regrade part of the back yard so it's accessible when it's dry.
They'll be too tall to go in pots/tubs. i would love to grow corn as i love it on the cobb.We have a big field opposite us which a farmer is now growing wheat or hay, i could always throw in some corn and i'd have my own corn growing, until some one noticed it and would pick it :(
Do you grow sugarpod peas in your tubs? I just adore the taste of sweet peas and the crunch of the pod between my teeth, fresh off the vine.... *drool* ours only just started to bloom, so there will be peas in a couple weeks.
Aww, Stid. Thanks hin, that is so nice of you to offer. If we ever get your way, i'll take you up on it, and you are always welcome here. There are loads of places you'd love to visit here.
Thanks lilliann -- I don't imagine I will ever travel distances again -- I'd hate to be stuck on an airplane or in an airport and have a bad allergic reaction. It would ruin everyone's day.
I didn't know you could grow them in tubs, but i do have blueberries in tubs
BUT as soon as there is a bridge 'twixt my continent and your'n, I shall embark on my world tour! *puts on goggles and flight cap and sits on tricycle ready to go*
That's a shame, but you and your family are always welcome
mmmm -- our blueberries are just starting to ripen at home.
Lol...you better cycle quick or you'll not get far!! :)
