*hugs rose* Hello dear friend! Good to see you again. Glad you are not in too much pain.
cooee and g'day marc, crystal and summer
how was your night honey?
hello. I took a huge hiatus from many sites while I was busy with life. I forget how fun and stimulating and hard this gameis
bumpy. And tonight I have a night shift. Will be home just in time to wave Caya off, and Rob.

thanks finally got it
No I am in Perth
just in case anyone is wondering....stidmama is a big favourite around here....lolll
strange that un + co4 and uni + co4 are not valid.
ahh, perth. haven't been there since 1974/75. i think it may have grown somewhat, yes?
there was a different babbler a long time ago who lived in perth, too
not sandyloo, was it?
maybe -- it has been so long since I was online the same time as you "nightowls" (my time)
haven't seen since forever.. is she still babbling?
lol, yeah, all those time zones. It is early morning here.
another perth person here:)
hiya deanoz, welcome to the chat!
hello deanoz
haven't seen sandyloo in ages
and late afternoon here, same day as sprite, the day after stiddy.
g'day dean
co7, please?
Perth changes from week to week lol
loved perth, the weather was perfect when we were there.
In 31 minutes we'll all be on the same day (except for Hawaiians...
Marc, a pain killer
add a vowel to the co6, pain killer
it's a drug related to heroin marc
and an oh dear from me... three of us all know about co6...loll
thanks
lol we do. I am still happy as a clam that I don't have to use it anymore. Even if it means I am in more pain.
stiddy ?? i thought it was related to morphine. at least that is what it converts to when we take it.
probably it is, but I don't know anything about drugs except most of them make me sicker than the pain they are supposed to treat
i hear you stiddy... so agree.
brb, nature calls
any stats for the 4 'a's at the bottom of column 2, please?
ac5/12, ac6/24, ae6/21, and aj4/9

thanks stiddie! I can use another beta reader, if you are interested... am translating my own book now.
I would love to. I have three weeks until I am officially back in teacher mode.

WTG SPRITE!!!
ugh, small one again
Ack, another small one, inappropriate for the weekend!
Hello hurshy
hello ruby
it also seems to be harder than yesterday's small one
Are we being punished?
idk
Hi kids.
I missed all the drama in the chog yesterday but it was accompanied by a wild rainsttorm here. The most lightning I've ever seen but very little thunder and it lastted for hours.
hello scrabs
Happy Birthday, hurshy. You were born on the same date as a friend of mine.
Oh, what drama now?
I spent most of the time huddled on the floor with my scared pups
Happy Birthday, Hurshy, you will always be younger!
thanks
There was evidently a big political argumentt but I only caught the barest fringes.
Some of the babblers went "la la la..." but it would be simpler to turn off the chat if somebody find controversy annoying
finds*
Personally, I think it's fun to share differing points of view but >I wasn't involved in this one
No one is going to change their mind.
but it's fun to listen and discuss
no name-calling, of course, but we're all adults here (at least I hope so°) and you can't expect homogeniety (no idea of the spelling!)
It never works in this chat.
I have friends across both aisles and the whole religious Spectrum and I prefer that
Talking face to face works better.
I don't know why as I'm sur the average IQ is much higher than "average"
cooee and g'day from me
Unfortunately, we're so spreead out
Cooee, Granny!
yay, rosie is here (but up VERY late)
ooh, hurshy's birthday. congrats hurshy, may you enjoy many more. xoxox
lolll yay scrabs.
my dearest ruby. {{hujgs}} sweetheart
thanks
ruby. we arrived home last thursday. have driven to QLD. took us 3 days. caught up with lizlin and her hubby who were very generous with their time, car and knowledge. we have had an amazing holiday.
Wonderful, granny.
Evidently there was name-calling
Too bad. People are entitled to their opinions.
That is lovely, rosie, sounds like a perfect Holiday. Does riding in the car tire you out?
very much so ruby. suffice to say, the night we arrived home i slept 8 hours without moving.
I enjoy hearing other people's views.
i have co7, anyone have the other 7?
un7. mythical creature
I expect their views to be divergent from mine, but that's often the appeal.
oh nice! thanks
there's one in my garden -- I wish!
xoxox hurshy
other people's views are good until they forget everyone is entitled to their own view too
James Thurber wrote about a unicorn in the garden - http://english.glendale.cc.ca.us/unico\nrn1.html
Hi matty and atalante!
and I am very happy to see Atalante!! Anybody who disagres can just step outside....
atalante, too true. we must remember everyone is entitled to their own viewpoint, even when it does not agree with theirs.
Good morning all
Ilike to ask kids in my office
Hello smart Matty; you got my reference
happy birthday smurshy!
How are you, Ata?
Indeed - happy birthday!
i always say... i may not agree with what you say/think, but i will fight for your right to say/think whatever you do.
yes exactly :)
and good morning matty
And it's certainly possible to have friends with whom you disagree. It makes for lively dinner parties!
its all fine till someone wants to vote for trump :P *runs*
Babble chog is unusual compared to most social media. Often (and there are no doubt exceptions), people have friends or contacts on Facebook and twitter of people who broadly share their worldview. Mine is, for example, left of centre - and that is true of many of my friends - therefore I tend to see stories and articles that largely agree with my worldview.
lolll ruby. my darling departed friend, robyn, taught me that.
I like to ask kids in my office about their favorite animal at the zoo and one girl said the un7.I told her it was my favorite too.
However, on here, we are a diverse group (probably slightly weighted to women of a certain age - I include myself in that) - we don't filter by those who largely agree with us. We can easily forget that there are intelligent people with entirely different views, and so think 'how can they possibly think that?! They must be thick or ignorant or misguided'. It is confirmation bias.
Exactly, Ata, but, in the end, that, too, can be amusing
i had to teach my hubby that it was okay to not agree. it did not mean i loved him any less.
I think I'm much further left than most of my friends
but it's not a problem
I think many of us, Ruby, who have emigrated, tend to be further left than people who have stayed in their country of origin. A huge generalisation of course, but an observation.
So can anyone tell me anything about the CO7?
good for bad headaches
Morning all - a hint or the co7 would be appreciated x
or back pain or any other pain
You're probably right (LOL) but, on the other hand, it's harder to be opinionated about an adopted country
co7, add a vowel to the co6, pain killer
That's the one, once I got the spelling right. Thanks
mind you, co7 is how we spell it here.
I didn't know there were two spellings
my body hates co7. it metabolises too quickly to morphine and i end up as high as a kite....loll
My spelling is entertaining at times
Thx so much
It can also make one terribly constipated!
"I before e...." except when you have a backache
My body does not like any narcotics--I get so dopey and dizzy.
that too matty.
The weird foreigner seized neither leisure nor science at their heights.
scrabs, prolly because you are like me.
Imagine, Matty, that I take 40 mg of morphine on an average day!
my sister gets take a whole bottle of liquid morphine each day. but it is a small bottle
when i had the denervation on my right knee, anaesthetist gave me ketamine and propofol. i was so out of it. the nurse kept saying..rose open your eyes...and i was thi8nking...nope not gonna do that.
I love narcotics!! I couldn't deal with my cancer oterwise. I guess I am Lucky because oxy works and there are days when I can take less and have few side effects except what Matty said
whats a denervation?
I take enough to Knock out a big man, but it doesn't even make me sleepy; I'm just afraid to drive
the doc sends anh electric shock down a needle embedded in the nerve and kills it.
the nerve that is...
I cannot understand why some people get addicted to opiates but that is because my brain reacts so differently to them.
wow. I need that one of my knees, it's been hypersensitive to everything since an operation as a kid
ata, when the doc zapped the most troublesome part of the nerve, unconscious as i was i still tried to crawl off the operating table. it took three of them to keep me on the table.
I can't imagine that addiction because opiates certainly aren't fun
ouch ouch ouch
double ouch ((rosie))
okay, ata, you need to find an an aenesthetist who is now specialising in pain management.
I can see how it happens, one of my friends is an ex coastie and the VA gave him insane amounts of vicodin to manage his pain and then just didn't stop giving them to him ...
I will look, rose! I had no idea that could be done
that is soooo wrong, ata.
can he function normally?
he can now he's gone to rehab! but he literally can't take pain killers as it's too tempting to take more
Typically, people who take opiates just for pain relief are less likely to become addicted - as long as it's used for genuine pain
I take as much as I need to manage the pain, but the side effects keep e from exceeding the dose
matty...my theory is that if you have strong enough pain, your body utilises all the pain killer... and there is no addiction.
My son thinks I'm an addict, but I explined to hi what Matty said. He refused to believe me, thought I should be stoic
oh for goodnhess sake, ruby. tell him to wake up and smell the roses.
Happily, the oncologists here agree with me
there's a difference between physically addicted to something, and choosing to be psychologically / phsyically addicted to something If you take a certain medication for years, of course your body will expect that chemical input
nearly my meds time... please believe me...i love you all... but the meds leave me off the planet.
>I don't see many choices as I need to function well to run the house, can't just curl up in a balland sleep (although the temptation is surely there)
<-- loves Rosie
what the heck does the un5 mean??!
xoxox and hugs sweet ruby
oh dear ata... my thought that is only half a pair of knickers...loll
lol I thought the same!
roflol
which half? I don't have it
lmao I'm not sure!
its not quite spelled right one bit of the knickers word. but v near
This chog is such a treat, even with a paltry grid
Back. I had to entertain the toddler. Being a mother is not easy.
its a nice grid, it has a word I use at work most days - fu6 (first one)
Really?? My son is 53 and it's harder now than when he was 2!
encur
oops, sorry
for heavens sake... himself is arguing with me as to whether we had coleslaw with our dinner. i know we did, at least i did. may be he didn't serve it onto his plate.
Ruby, do you know that I became the guardian for my young grandnephews on July 6th?
Yes, you have made my life list of heroes/heroines!!
i should think i could remember what i just ate
"Don, you be a good boy!" said sternly
lol... ruby. he needs his ears smacked together. (think about it)
scrabs, you have my absolute admiration.
<-- still looking for Ata's fu.....

Have a nutritious lunch then take a nap.
I said "uncle" this AM and called my helper, Nadia, to come and do my chores. She is a sweet Young woman and loves y pups, so I'm very Lucky to have kept her on even after Burt's death
Good morning all.
I've regained all of the weight <I lost last year

aw sweet... it is so fun to meet up IRL with Babblers :)
I think she is the first I have met
Lots of FU words, literally and figuratively :)
...that I am not related to, anyway, hahaha
ha yes! good point, sukee
I am not related to any Babblers. But have met about 20 or so Babblers.
Great
wow!!! that is a lot
Maybe one day I can meet crossy and some others who are close.
sukee, I have three fu words so far....how many more?
Just 5 :)
We organized a meet-up in DC about 4 years ago. I met dan2bit, ciacoJudy, kje, dcseain, and a bunch more.
5 in totoal
total
Trif, my friends will return from Ireland on Tuesday.
thank you
I hope they had as good a trip as we did. in retrospect, our agenda was rather too heavy on activities and not enough down time, but we saw a lot, and it was a great introduction to the two travelers with us who had never been there.
I can't get that 6/36 though
next time -- and there will be a next time -- I am going to go at a much less breakneck pace
Toddler Ryder is making Babble time challenging. I have to feed him, change poopy diapers, entertain him, find the lost water cup, etc. We are watching Shaun the Sheep now, which I appreciate more than him.
f + most of tin coin +consonant, not my clue, saw this earlier
Ty Annie
Scrabbs, You are also one of my heros
I am trying, Annie, but it is SO hard. There is virtually no time for me.
tin coin....hmmmmm
Are you still doing the shopping for your mother?

Hi Crossy
good morning crossy!!!
:)
breakfast for me too
I am back, time for Cheerios :)
I will be making the crew some home made hash bround with three kinds of green peppers served beside some scrambled eggs covered with shredded old cheese. May toss some English miffins on the side to keep it company
Yummy!
has browns
I cannot type today :(
sigh...
I love old cheese
Has always been my credo "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and supper like a pauper."
I had pizza the past two days so I have to eat more simple today, no cheese :)
Wife is addicted to this 3 year old Quebec white cheddar that is apple wood smoked
dang I want some of that
I love smoked cheese, I had smoked provalone on my pizza.
Is is sinfully good and more expensive than drugs...
I love smoked gouda
the last time we were in Vermont, I discovered this artisan cheese farm....now it's all I can think about...they do internet orders, but I am avoiding that, lest I weigh 700 pounds by Christmas.
firewords! tx grannyrose, lickety & all cluers. ae6 ae + eat a meal was my last

Some ass was setting off fireworks here last night at 11:45 PM, too close to buildings
Would anyone like a clue?
Okay, well I am off, Have a great day.

Back again. I put the toddler down for a nap since he woke up at 530.
Scrabbs, I bet the children love the bunnies.
They sure do! They are absolutely fascinated by the bunnies.

hey all
Just got back, scrabs
I was folding laundry
I did 4 loads, and one of the loads was all my Skechers.
Any special advice for recovery from an ankle sprain? CFL sprain/strain while hiking a mountain on July 13th. And entire ankle/foot has minor strains.
I would wear an elastic support brace when you're up on the ankle. Or an Arizona brace (the heavy cloth type that laces up) if you feel you need MORE support than the elastic one.
anyone have the 7s? ty
REST it as much as possible. PROP up whenever you are not on your feet. ICE it as often as possible. If you have access to a JOBST pump, use it at night when you're in bed.
Wear 3/4 top or hi-top sneakers if possible.
I am using a Donjoy brace which is great. I iced frequently for the first week.
un7 = horse with horn.
fu7 = fu + first 3 letters of metal money + consonant
Is it elastic Donjoy brace? with the straps you pull and Velcro to add support?
ty. got both of those.
Yes, laced straps, then bilateral straps, then top velcro straps. It is very supportive.
I would continue to ice at the end of every day.
the fu was a six...any ideas?
And try to walk normally, even if you have to slow your pace WAY DOWN. Don't get into a bad limping habit.
That brace is excellent scrabs
Sorry, co7 = opiate.
Often spelled with e at end.
Mornin' all
Sorry for your sprain scrabs! It's a pesky injury. Don't rush the recovery. It takes TIME.
mkg...I have fu 6/36...is that what you are looking for?
Hi Car and mkg
Actually, there are 2 of those....
So, exciting night last night. The foster cat we had taken in, gave birth to four kittens.
Monkey, it hurt SO bad. I nearly fainted and puked. The entire foot and ankle swelled and turned purple. I had to hike down the mountain 3 miles.
Wow, car!
Poor you.
How is Mama Kitty doing with her babies?
Duh, the co7 has the e! I didn't even know that.
Are you a nurse or doctor lil monkey?
She's awesome. We had taken her in with her other litter right after my surgery. We got those kittens adopted out and still had her here. The poor thing got knocked up while she was still at the previous home and nursing that litter.
The Octakitty
Pretty much.
She was on the schedule at the Spay Wagon for August 22nd...guess that will now have to wait!
Its been so long since I had a litter I didn't have to work with...dropper/bottle feeding, cleaning, etc. It is so sweet to watch the natural process the way it should be.
Lil*monkey is a PT.
anyway, we didn't know she was pregnant and it was quite a shock at 1:00 in the morning. The kids were up and though she had caught 2 mice in a bloody battle. LOL
Oh. I thought that was great advice
Haha.
Ruru, I am being impatient with the healing process, which is expected since I am an active person. Limping around in pain is not easy.
You're an active person and a doctor....the worst patients ever!!!!! :p
Aw scrabs that sounds awful! I'm sure that extra 3 miles you had to hike on that ankle wasn't good :(
I'm actually a licensed phys therapist assistant
I don't do the initial evaluation of patients, that's for the DPTs (doctorate of physical therapy) to handle. But I do all the treatments and manage their care.
It was so painful coming down that mtn, wondering if my ankle was fractured. I went to an urgent care ctr and the X-rays were negative.
I'm sure you've heard scrabs, that sprains are much more painful than Fx or breaks.
sprains involve injury or avulsion to the ligaments
'morning, babblers
scrabbler, the co was also a six........but ty for clue.
I sprained that same ankle in 1983 but I don't recall it being this bad.
i got the 7. ty. extra vowel at end.
Scrabs, all the more reason to take your time with recovery. Your ankle is now more susceptible to repeated injury :( I'm sorry to say, but pls take it seriously.
well heck, if i'd known i'd have asked for your advice a long time ago! monkey, i've been going to PT for months for a shoulder injury - off for a cortisone injection on tuesday.
Aw I'm sorry welki... I'm here for advice whenever you need me.
heh - i'd have asked how to get some sleep!
Oh I usually recommend sleeping in a recliner for shoulder injuries. Then you don't accidentally roll onto the bad side.
clue for the A bottom row please.
I must go. Jax wants to see spaceships on the computer.
OK scrabs, good luck! Stay in touch
i've had ankle sprains and breaks, scrabbs - monkey's right, patience is important, so you don't reinjure
ac5,12 and ae6,21 is all I have mkg
Yes! Thank you welki! Let's keep reminding her ;)
ty lil monkey. looking......
aj4,9
and ac6,24 . All 4 are strange. Just keep monkeying.
ty got two of them. not the ae.
how about an o word? i have none of them yet. ty.
just got od 4 from o fifth row. so dont need that one. ty.
ae + Mel's ****r
TV show about waitresses with Flo "kiss my grits"
monkey, do your PTs do dry needling in the states? my daughter, a nurse in vermont, had never heard of it
Yes, they do. You have to complete a lengthy educational course first.
It's called "dry needling" but is very similar to acupuncture.
dry needling is what I do here every day
isn't that what "Cross-stitch is?
yes, ru - i was waiting for that :) well, acupuncture is relatively painless. not so for dry needling - it can be VERY painful
dry needling is also called trigger-point needling. Yes it's painful. The object is to insert needle into the trigger point. Ouch!
not for me.. I don't like needles
sometimes when my family needled me it was painful
i don't either, but i was hoping it would give my shoulder some relief - and sometimes it did, sometimes not
welki, have you tried electrical stimulation? Certain types are very soothing. The program called "interferential" is excellent for calming pain.
hey ru - the apoquel seems to have kicked in. thank you so much for the advice. and guess what - i heard a commercial for it on the radio the other day - you've started a movement up north!
yes, monkey - i think one of the tens machines has my name on it :)
Good morning :). Catching up on chat, I will definitely keep 'dry needling' off my list of potential shoulder remedies!
hi...clue for un7/36 pls?
the horse animal with a pointy horn
and the loveliest of all was the un7
ty
It does have sometimes adverse side effects. I hope it goes ok for you.> the Best is the CADI shot. I hope to god you get it available up there somehow
dry needling is like banging your head against a wall - feels so good when you stop. but it does give relief
i have reactions to needles. don't like them near me at all
I'd be a terrible heroin addict
Cortisone shots can be extremely painful too.
Wishing you the best, welki.
oh the one i'm getting on tuesday is supposed to be a doozy - but i've had them before (in other places), so i sort of know what to expect. at this point, i'll try just about anything to get rid of this pain - and i really hope it works, or i'm looking at surgery :(
I'm ok with needles but any kind of "controlled" substance makes me throw up -- codeine, prednisone, etc. -- would be a total failure as an addict! LOL
the injection is x-ray guided, so has to be done by a radiologist
(thanks, ch)
wow une.. pred too?
ummm now that I think about it, it was oxy that made me throw up -- they gave me prednisone when I threw out my back trying to pick up a tree that had fallen in my backyard -- asked if ok to go to work -- I did but my coworkers sent me home 'cause I couldn't stop laughing uncontrollably! :-)
oxy can make lots of people ill. I have never tried it.. I have had Vicodin for headaches though
lifting a tree? you trying to be Une Bunyan?
vicodin makes me nauseated too
My goodness, une -- I didn't realize that could be a side effect of prednisone! Sounds more fun than the usual side effects like I had --- deeper depression, weight gain, puffiness ...
depression from Pred?
usually it hypes people up doesn't it?
ch1212 I gave the remaining pills to the guy replacing the railing on my porch LOL
i think so, ru
i remember the cortisone they gave my dad (bone cancer) made his face look like a balloon but it REALLY lifted his spirits -- he called it his happy med!
ok .. . . need to get going -- later, all! :-)
I'm sure the guy appreciated it, Une. Yes, Ruru, changes in moods and emotions (particularly depression) are common on prednisone. In my case, where I normally manage depression just fine, it took a toll. It felt like a thick, black undertow. Ick. I was grateful to be done with it.
LOL chch12 your profile pic is hilarious
Thanks, lil. I've had it up for several months because it makes me laugh.

Cannot find the fi6 - clue please
there's no fi6
there is no fi 6..
maybe that's why you can't find it
that would do it
Indeed - I was missing an fi4 - now found - thank you so much!
ha.. I just read that Paris HIlton fears she's being targeted by ISIS.. I think that girl needs to back off on the coke..it's making her delusional
I've just watched on the news that a man from America is the first one to ever sky dive without a parachute! He landed on a big net suspended from the ground. That could have gone so wrong!
i have the CO 7 - stats and/or help with the other 7 pls
Plus his wife and young son were there to watch...that would have been nice for them if he splatted on the ground!

Sorry Teach, my grass cutter man turned up for his money and when he starts chatting he never stops, bless him.
Hi Jaxx and ty :)
ruru, i'm not sure Paris Hilton is wrong. ISIS particularly hates promiscuity and stuff. however, i think that if they didn't think of it, she could easily put the idea into their heads by saying that to the media!
How are jaxx?
Self-oriented people like Paris Hilton think EVERYTHING is about them.
It isn't? Wen who is it all about?
Then whom
perhaps that's a good strategy for combating terror - redirect efforts of terrorist groups to target unwanted social maladies like khardashians, hiltons, etc.
we would just have to make sure to keep them far away from population centers.
clue for the lone C anybody?
Hi, Harry. Lone C is Abel's brother
Ah Harry, a breath of fresh air.
ty for the C. nbt, nbs, and 23 words to go!
hi molly
maybe ISIS doesn't know the difference between Paris HIlton or Paris France
that could very well be - somebody told the terrorist to target the Paris Hilton, and instead he targeted Paris Hilton
the guy that graduates last in his Jihad class is still called a terrorist
lol
I sense an Adam Sandler movie - a really dumb lovable terrorist and his offbeat hijinx.
yeah.. the title is funny too.. "Does this suit make me look Fatwa?"
I have to run - we're leaving on a 3.5 week vacation on Tuesday, and my wife is in packing mode. bbl to list, hopefully.
Wow, a 3 and a half week vacation.
hello, what are the stats for the corner F please?
fu4/9 is one of them
thanks sue
other is fu 6,36
why do I keep getting nervous when i type those fu words?
:)
Not sure Harp but fuck is accepted in these grids.
I know but there's no K today.....
Does the word fuck make you nervous?
Or were you nervous about some other fu word?
I wouldn't play it in Words With Friends against my priest....
Some of us were brought up not to use such language.
Indeed, some people were. And yet it is an acceptable word here. As are other words that "some of us" don't use.
I mean, it's not even shocking anymore. Just rude and common.
Not usually in the chat.
And some of us were brought up not to use such language and yet we use it in emails.
I use it all the time.. I swear like a sailor
(without a boat)
just not here though
I am also a trash mouth. Not that anyone here would be surprised by that. : P
well.. I'm shocked I tell you.. just shocked
Oops, we should stop talking about dirty words. People come here to relax and have fun and engage in light, airy, puppy/kitty kind of chat.
I have over time seen some people go "off" here with swearing.. but I try not to here
I have too, Ru. I've seen people use that F word when they go off as well. Hey look, our little fake poster is back.
there are some words that I would never use here but some of the Canadians feel free to throw them around
Another fake poster?
what?
Please name and shame, Molly.
who?
No, let's all stay serene.
oh
Naming and shaming goes on at the Babble Facebook page, doesn't it?
not really
maybe privately on messenger. I don't really know
Oh pardon me, I had heard differently.
Well, let's get back to light and airy chat. How is the weather? How are your pets?
asleep at my feet
My Pets Are Asleep At My Feet...sounds like a Carpenter's song. *Sigh*
ah well. I can't avoid housework any longer.. have a nice sunday Molly
Also... if people want to come on here and talk about light airy puppy/kitty stuff....... why can't they? Who declared Babble an intense forum? Sorry if the kitty/puppy stuff offends/bores you Molly, but you know what? Some people actually like that kind of stuff. I, for one, am sick and tired of your sanctimonious bullshit. I have seen you bully other Babblers, and I don't like it. There. I've said it.
Thanks Ru, I'm having a great Sunday. Lots of housework and cooking here as well. Enjoy the rest of your day.
I will second, third and fourth that, Soodle. Anyone for a fifth, sixth, seventh or eighth?
Glad you got that out Soodle. Hope all that bitter s
stuff is outside you now. Try to think some good thoughts.
Ditto, Molly. Quit your bullying everyone.
Not everyone is a lapdog like Ruru. It's time to leave the chat.
go screw yourself serenity. I am no lap dog..
hound dog maybe ...
corn dog I will go for :D
I apologise to all who, like me, log on to Babble for a bit of R and R, and who really don't need confrontation and unpleasantness. But there comes a point where saying nothing actually goes against my grain. When I see blatant bullying and aggression, I really need to say something.
cue the elvis music
where were you with the bullying yesterday soodle?
seemed like a lot of people were picking on Molly.
Soodle, you and I were once friendly. So I will choose not to go nasty and back stabbing with you, as you have with me. I will stay out of chat when I see you here so you don't have to put with me any longer.
see it's okay for "some" players to call people derogatory names and all is ok
but when some people state their opinions they are jumped on.. really if a discussion bothers you.. turn it off for a while and it will pass back to other subjects
Yesterday I was at a particularly low ebb, Ruru. I didn't have the emotional deposits to waste.
here here! i was just thinking the same thing, ru...
i ignore conversations i don't want to participate in and join in ones i do....
All I'm saying is turn off the chat if you don't like the discussion
Thank you Pen. That is what grown ups do.
What I believe Molly was saying yesterday is everyone gets up in arms around here about religion and Politics.. but it doesn't have to be that way. It can be a discussion without name calling. At least that's what adults do
yw....sometimes i ignore you, too, Molly... ;o)
Not sure what was up yesterday, but in looking back through the recent chat, I didn't see anything bullying prior to Soodle and serenitynow demanding the bullying stop...
That is okay Pen. You can ignore me all you want. : D
so i'm going to recommend relaxing like you say you cam here to do, and marvel at how a grid this small managed to still fit 14 f words, because that's ridiculous.
I agree jes
I play Babble to relax. I do not belong to the Molly camp or the Ruru camp or any camp. When I see blatant bullying going on, it makes me uncomfortable. A trawl through the babble archives will throw up many many examples of the bullying which I am speaking about.
i usually ignore political and religious discussions and often ignore pet discussions (i have no pets)....i am guilty of talking about the weather... ;o)
I was here before camps. We only had twig shelters in those days
don't ask me.. I flunked out of the cub scouts
hah. been here long enough they were still riding dinosaurs to school, ata? :D
LOL Atlante!!!
yep!
Camp Ruru sounds like fun to me
i would consider going, ru... ;o)
would it be in a Ru-ral setting?
we have recreational punning classes
oouuu!....
and a wine bar, I'm sure.
and wine and cheese classes?
lots of t-ru-ble
hah!
that's next to the foot massage section
oh....love foot massages!
especially while drinking wine and eating cheese... ;oP
we have a foot massage and Lobster roll department
mmmm...
*i am ignoring this awful grid*....
it's a sucky one that's for sure pen
i am off to practice my recorder.....see you all later....
can I take my masseuse and a cheese and fruit platter to go lay in the sun and read at camp? because I think we may have hit max relax there.
bye, penquis
Wow, a complaint about blatant bullying. And yet it is fine to make snide comments about Babble players in email. I can mention those people here if you want, Soodle.
clue for ae6 please?
ae + to eat
thanks, ata :)
Oh do whatever you want to do, Molly. Jeez.... what is this, Bl

How could you? Its mythical....

So... not by way of apology, but just as a small indication of how today went for me... Up at 7.00 am. Washing into the machine. One and a half hour drive to Dublin to see Mom. One hour there. Picked up laundry to be seen to. One hours drive to see my Dad, who is worried and concerned about my Mom. An hour with him. Picked up his laundry. An unhappy two hours with my Dad. Moaning and groaning that he has been abandoned and nobody visits him anymore. (I was there with him on Thursday). Two more hours crossing the city to go back to my Mom. Meds disagreeing wiht her, resulting in dire vomiting and nausea. Very intense times indeed
hey, i know some people here do the folding at home internet thing - anybody handy know how large the downloads are?
That's terrible!

Hi TO
Sympathies are with you Soodle. I remember the last few years of my Father and Mother's lives. There was a lot of driving, support, and feelings of helplessness. Good luck.

hey all. 22 to go. And all I can say is ugh.
evening all! It's not even 9pm and all the females in my house (human, feline & canine) are asleep
Good Evening. How are you all tonight? And dan2, how did you wear them ALL out?
Good evening, everyone :)
Hi crossy.
(I wander off a bit; but now am back; I suspect this grid causes that tonight)
This grid is annoying
And yes, I've been wandering in and out too
Thank you for saying that! I'm very annoyed with this grid too!
Howdy ... this is an awful grid. Been in and out throughout the day.
Hi m9 & origami! (I thought I should greet you now! :-)
I want a T and also to move that Rin this grid; it would be much easier to do that way! ;-)
How are you doing Nef?
Hey, just saw you were in the grid :-)
Doing fine (except in the grid). The weather was nice today, just a bit humid; so I got a little bit done outside (not much, but some stuff). I have 9 tomato plants & almost got them fenced in enough to keep the squirrels out (I hope)
Hey! I didn't see that before! How about that?
I didn't plant much this year. Usually I have a HUGE vegetable garden. Just tomatoes this year :-)
I hope to get my groove back and plant a large winter garden.
We planted everything else except tomatoes in raised planters like big old garden box planters. DH kept bending down too far & wrecking his back (he's had 2 neck spine surgeries & 2 lumbar spine surgeries & he really can't bend with all that rods & screws in there; but he still kept trying!)
What made you cut back this year?
I have all raised beds also (at least 3 feet high). My soil here is horrible, all clay, and I have 3 big dogs. So going up is the only solution.
** finito ** last word UN 4/6 - one of the many non-words in this grid (didn't enjoy thiss one)
I read "winter garden" & I thought "What's that?" I had to go check your profile to see where they have such things! ;-) (Minnesota doesn't have gardens outside in winter)
Not to be depressing, but I have been pretty down. Hanging on to the tomatoes, though :-)
YAY, wv!!! WTG!!!
any clues needed
Did anyone enjoy this one, wv? I hate it too
Yep, nef. I can grow 12 months of the year. Sometimes Jan/Feb can freeze above-ground things, but I always have beets and turnips and kale and such even in the coldest of winters here.
Congrats teach!
Yes, Please that 2nd column, 3rd row E please
i also checked your profile to see where one can have a winter garden - certainly not from around here
West Virginia doesn't have mild winters, wv?
EU 4/5 - type of coin and EN 6/24 - to put into spy language
4 seasons of veggie gardening here. Although we put up with ghastly heat in the summer. I'm from the SF Bay Area and will never get used to the heat here.
Not at all - last winter in one snow storm we got 28 inches of snow - the week I was taking care of the two gradkids - everything closed
Yum, origami. We plant kale, tomatoes, herbs, lettuce, carrots, peppers, squash, and I have an eggplant this year for some reason.
Thank you wv!
with the hills all around we have lots of cross country skiing and several downhill ski areas - the one ski area has the greatest vertical drop east of the Mississippi
I can grow lettuce and kale and carrot in the winter. I do the others in the summer.
For some reason, we keep trying & trying to grow carrots, but our carrots end up being 2 -3 inches long & maybe as thick as our thumbs. They taste wonderful but just won't grow long!
Winter veggies: cabbage, lettuce, root veggies, chard, broccoli, brussels sprouts, collard greens. Lots of good stuff.
My carrots never get big either.
Oh, another winter favorite ... cauliflower.
You are inspiring me to try winter veggies. The past couple winters we've only seen a couple days below freezing. Thanks for the list of veggies, origami!
WV, saying that, here in MN we have some great ski areas, but our slopes are short. People from other areas caught when we say that, but a lot of Olympic skiers are either from here or come here to practice
ch112 ... you can visit your local cooperative extension office website and find a list of veggies to grow in the winter. Your climate is mild enough. I work for CE so am an advocate :-)
Gosh, I should have known that. One of my neighbors teaches classes for the county CE. Thanks!
With our shorter runs, they actually can end up with more actual skiing because they aren't waiting in long lines to get back to the top of the hills again.
great idea, origami. Extension offices are very helpful too. (I should find out why my carrots are always so short
Well, it has dropped below 95F, so I am off to play with my poor neglected dogs for a bit. Happy babbling all.
95 (F)! UGH!
If you find out Nef, please let me know. I have great soil in my massive raised bed, but stunted carrots :-(
I will, origami! Thanks!
Back in a while if I don't perish from the heat in the back 40 :-)
okay, take care & don't melt!
hi all, and fireworks woot
YAY, Gwen!!! WTG!!!
How are you doing tonight?
melting! how you?
Finding out that I'm still a mosquito magnet this year. :-( Why is it that no one else gets bit but me?
i read an article somewhere that says skeeters do target certain people and ignore others. it offered suggestions to help protect yourself, also. i'll try to find it
(hmm, just google this << mosquitoes target certain people >> and you will find several articles)
Well, supposedly they are attracted to bananas, so I don't eat them(& DH has thermal the time!). I didn't even know I got bit in so many places today; but I have welts from bites all over my arms, neck & legs.
hope you have good anti-itching lotion
Oh yeah; I have to laugh: "Book Doctor" Gwen "Googles" too! (I thought you'd have a fun resource book that would help! ;-)
me loves google 8 - D
"book doctor" means editor -- not expert LOL
Actually, I use a couple of home remedies that help: either a baking soda & water slurry, or rubbing a wet bar of soap on the itchy spot work as well as Calamine lotion for me
Oh, Pooh!! I've always pictured you with a book lying on an exam table & you repairing the books' binding! (another imaginary idea wrong)
baking soda paste, yep, i learend that one from mom when i was little
I'm back again. I'll add that green clay powder makes an awesome slurry for skin issues!
people who fix ordinary physical books are called bookbinders. if they fix ancient books for museums and stuff, they're conservationists
I have 20 left in this horrible grid.
I've always used it; there are a lot of things I'm sensitive too, so I try not to have anything with fragrances or a lot of chemicals
i can do minor repairs, but before i learned any of that i was a book doctor
stopping itchy skin is as simple as keeping air off it, so, a layer of soap would work great, at least till it flakes off
so, a book doctor is an editor that keeps the author in line?
hi m9
soap dries my skin out.
hi.
WB, M9. I have 25 left myself
is there a list? I don't think I can go any further on my own.
what is green clay powder?
an "emergency" editor. the publisher buys a manuscript, then realizes it's unpublishable but they have already contracted to publish it. call in the book doctor to fix it in a hurry
at least not without getting really grumpy!
in hollywood they're called "script doctors"
My monkeys are exhausted!
Why would it be unpublishable?
the book i "doctored" was simply purchased in a rush by the publisher who didn't look very closely at it, since it filled a niche they were looking to fill
There is a list, M9. I listed at 28; & am too busy chatting right now
they then found out it was badly researched and full of incorrect "facts"
m9, check to see if Molly has a list in her profile; she usually does
Oh, wow! And they bought it anyway? Why would an author turnout drivel like that?
it's clay in a powder form. I like the french green clay best. Here's from some website: From the standpoint of mineralogy, French green clay belongs to a subcategory of clay minerals known as illite clays, the other two major groups being kaolinite and smectite clays.
Locket's list is up
there are thousands of people at any given moment trying to sell their books. not all of them are gems
Lickety's list
hey all
the author was not a professional author, just a guy who collected anecdotes about place name origins (the topic of the book) and he had simply collected a lot of BS
hiya stid and nef and anyone i missed
hi stid!
:-)
another quick and cheap "cure" for itchy skin is a few pieces of scotch tape. just keep the air off the itchy part.
I'm thinking about that author, Gwen, &all I can think of is why did he even collect it if it wasn't true? What a waste of time!
listing at 15 to go... got a lot last night at flip (was watching a movie with Tom) :-) Love vacation time. I am going to start getting back on school schedule in another couple weeks. Time is ticking!
well, all of this was before wikipedia and google, so, difficult to check whether what you have been told is true. anyway, as i said, it was not a very good manuscript, which is why they called in a book doctor
It sure is, stid. It's AUGUST tomorrow! YIKES!!
ugh. so many fish.... (minnows, it seems!)
that one was a fingerling... *sigh*
down to 9. :-)
did you get your name on it too then? Or do Book Doctors get any credit at all
no, book doctors are editors. the author gets the credit, and if the editor is lucky, she gets mentioned in the acknoledgements. (this is very common in the publishing biz; in fact, celebrities who write books often are not the actual authors)
go go go stid!
that one was a mammal, but VERY fishy! *giggle* (in 4/4)
Is that "ghost writing" then? Or is that differentials?
I had that one, stid; & yes, it IS fishy! :-)
yep, ghost writing. "The Art of the Deal" is a famous ghost'written books been in the news lately
here's my little masterpiece: http://tinyurl.com/jtkpowu
evening all
no more F words... :-)
hi indiajan
there's the magic fellow... 2 to go!
Hello IndiaJan!
it's a smart way to sell, if you only care about selling. slap a celebrity's name on it and it will sell. (assuming you have a popular celebrity)
Hi IndiaJan
Gwen, I've really learned a lot from you tonight! Thanks! :-)
8 - D
one to go...
anyone need a clue before I zip off?
fw
wtg stid !!!!!!!!
I am glad to be picking up some speed again -- during the school year my stats take a real tumble!
gj stid!
thanks m9!
night all, have fun *poink*
enjoy your week, gwen!
YAY, STID!!! WTG!!!
(DH is having me edit his bio for his 50th high school reunion; so am *I* being a book doctor too? ;-)
or are you ghost writing, Nef?
His 1st copy was so depressing I rewrote it and told the same things but in a very upbeat way. This is his second one he wrote; and it's so depressing again. He also wrote it in such way he didn't use the word *I* once; every sentence starts with "went" or did". :-(
Oh boy... that passive writing style is hard to unlearn!
sorry - am working on putting together a form that automatically populates lesson plans. Trying to add in the common core standards with explanations now, so it's easier to put it all together later. :-) Going to be a looong month!
fw!
stid.. that sounds, um..not so fun.
WAY, M9!!! WTG!!!
YAY, not WAY. (sheesh! If I make all of these typos; how can I ever edit his bio?) smh
Actually, stid, I think that sounds like a great form! This should make your job easier once yogurt it done, right?
Yogurt! bwaahaaa haaa!
You're on a roll Nef ;-)
LOL! I certainly am! Gosh: trying to do 2 things at once is NOT working very well.
I'm sure you'll do a great job editing though. Not the same as online chatting :-)
g'night all.
(Well,I'veals been watching a show on on poverty through a poor person's eyes too. It kind of made me think how horrid our "social systems" are!
oh, DRAT! I give up!
niters, M(
M9
sweet dreams m9
I did it! Got the basic forms created. Now to make a lesson plan I just follow the prompts... *genius mama look*
anyway, I can help clue if anyone needs it?
stiddy I love your icon :)
