{{hugs}} and {{kisses}} and good morning dearest bestie.
*hugs rose* How lovely to see you, dear friend. How was your day?
not too bad actually. the guinea pigs survived m experimental soups. in fact they really liked them both. how was your night?
very rewarding, rose :) Well done you. My night was ok. Slept most of it, not too much pain.
ahhh good. i prescribe a day out with dienie at least once per week.
that would be awesome :)
how's the ole body holding up?
good all things considered. still able to make decisions and get stuff don....although the government forms are still waiting. I HATE FILLING OUT FORMS!!!!
I hear ya, hun. They make our brains go dead and our eyes goldfishy
ahem... that is done... could do don then i would be done don... lolll
don should do them, don't ever doubt it.
well i have lost my grandmother's hat size....
ummm what does that mean?
it's just a piece of fun, tongue in cheek style. the laugh is that you have to have that info in order to complete any government form.
ahhhh now I get it. Sorry, still early here ;)
np's. it's a bit of obscure australiana.
we have something similar here. It goes like: Born... yes. And then 'geslacht' which is dutch for gender, but also past particle for to butcher... so after 'Geslacht' we fill in 'not yet'.
just making sure you are hedgimacated.
roflolll
hedgimacated? Educated? Housebroken but then within the borders of the garden?
yup. you like it?
very nice :D
more iffy... hinkier. Why isn't it valid?
hinkier??? what's a hink?
you mean 'hinky' is not an english word? As in 'this is iffy... this is hinky'?
i haven't heard of it. but is not to say it isn't.
checked and it is. *miffed* I want hinkier!
"hinky - Wiktionary https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/hinky (comparative hinkier or more hinky, superlative hinkiest or most hinky). (informal) Acting suspiciously; strange, unusual; acting in a manner as if having...
new word for me. thanx sprite
and there we have the reason it doesn't take. It is informal. Enable doesn't do informal. Just obsolete and foreign, but not informal.
but it does do argot or slang... fine line enable is reading.
*giggles* Anytime, dear. (Now I feel like I managed to teach my granny to suck eggs)
enable is the most random wordlist there is
yuch!!! sucking eggs.... now blowing is different.....
come on, swallow, honey... it ain't battery acid...
with my gag reflex.?????... not even my best friend would let my play chubby bunnies
lol and wo7 is valid.
*hugs rose* Just pulling your leg. You can spit it out, no problem.
hmmmm...... nope better not to mention that here. ruru might get the right idea...
*grins* For some reason that reminded me of another dutch joke... when someone is smoking a pipe... we say "Two ugly heads on one stem"
oh dear lord... LOLOLLLLLL
dutch is pretty good at insults, lol
btw, the two soups i served i had never made before. i wanted to see the reactions before i sent the recipes.
yeah, I was hoping they'd turn out well. Giefff, woman!
fireflies
and as usual, my last one was a biggie
young Tim told his mother to get the recipe from me. that was the tomato and orange. personally i am going to leave out the orange rind next time and just use the juice. it was nice but it had an unexpected zing with the rind.
WTG SPRITE!!!!
:)
*hugs* my dear friend. Sleep well tonight. And take things easy, especially with filling in the dreaded forms. Have Don help you. And take breaks. Doctor's orders ;)
{{hugs}} dearest. enjoy your day. xoxox
Well done Sprite - finished before I've even started!
First run through and ony found 98 words.Takeing a break and will return later to see if I can find my last 71 words.

I love seeing the chat with grannyrose and sprite in the morning. Would be a fine radio show or podcast, yes?
Add ruru in for color commentary.

Bye kids.
TY doctor. ;)
now im looking for that NE7, heh
when kieran is born he will be one

herpes is actually a group of viruses that includes those that cause cold sores (and chicken pox, btw)... thus why people get finger herpes (whitlow's)
and why dentists are the classic case

Sorry Lu + consonant + PT consume food.
Ah glad you found it!
M9f9l, Do not worry he is a beaky person he will interject again soon I a sure :D
m9 and zooz if you categorized the puns and put them in a bunch of books would the become inserious?
en 5 plz oh plz
EN + 4th vowel + first two letters of what kids fly on the end of string on a windy day.
Japanese mushroom
en + end of crazy god.
ty ty ty..
LOL, Aebmusica, yep!
ty for acknowledging my feeble PUN, zooz!
I think it would be the best of tomes AND the worst of tomes.
good One!
co 8 45 pz..does it work off the 7 before it
Yes it is ends in PT of consume food.
Kind of..pt of had food at the end
And it would be a sell-out for butchers! "Cause they would read it every week on the day they made sausage!
ty . tried everything but that lol
Aww, are they your kittens in your icon, Car?
Cause our puns are the wurst?
Hello zoozzoom and aeb and mf9 - much giggles here in Liverpool at the puns - made my day they did. I shall need something to laugh at tomorrow and Sunday as we have a FusionFestival (Olly Murs et al) happening in our local park about 500 yards away. The sound- test is going on now and wow all my ornaments are trying to leap off the windowsill.
Hello, Scouser! Sorry to hear that the venue is close to you. Here when the Isle of Wight festival is on..people who live near by get free tickets to go to it.
Are you telling porkies, M9f9l?
hi scouser and tyvm!
No, because I wouldn't want to boar you.
Other meats are available!
Well that's veal nice!
Perhaps I should be "on the lam" away from here? I don't need a free ticket they might as well be in the living room. Only a thin belt of large trees separates us. Hi Aebmusica
well m9, they would read the PUNS on the wurst day of the week!
Thank you for being honest and so frankfurt with us, M9f9l!
I suspect some of the performers tomorrow will be of the brat-wurst variety?
That was a real wiener.
LOL
veally, scouser?
Hi m9. is everyone now looking in the food-books for more bangers (Liverpool or English word for saucissons)?
So, intestine the sound equipment, they're being a real pane to your ornaments.
Only if they're epicurious.
You do realise I am starting to get hungry now!
this grid is not very easy is it? or am i just tired. ? Yes - maybe I am hungry - that's it. I will have to go look in the fridge.
Yeah, my stomach is groaning...I mean grumbling ;-)
Bangers & mash with either baked beans and a runny egg or a nice home made gravy!
nooooooooo! but I have got some boiled spuds to fry... hmm
Ooh you are almost there for a bubble & squeak, Scouser!
My favorite breakfast lately is slightly caramelized onions and yellow squash and kimchi with basted eggs on top... But alas I am in a hotel for the next few days so it's whatever we can prepare/cook in our room.
posh word for tummy rumbling is borborygmus. I defy Babble to fit that in a grid and have many useful words around it. May get the record for the lowest number of words???
Well I really have got borborygmus now!
throna
Close but no cigar, Scouser lol
oops sort of. Guess what I would have to provide in the PB?!
Never tried kimchi, M9f9l, Not sure if I would like fermented vegetables!
I really do need to go get some food now. Many thanks to you babblers for giving me a good laugh and making me feel or happy inside. Happy babbling everyone!
How can there be 22 words starting with C? I have got 7 so far. Urgh. Cheers zoozzoom. I am brain-challenged. Need fooooood. bye all

I would leave if I were you.
Kaplan is still here you leavin or not as your names are still listed?
MLFAN, they seem not to like being called out as middle-schoolers.
shut up you dirty blanket
they were expecting us to leave them alone..maybe but their names are still listed so..
we will outlast the little children lol
I don't care if they stay or go.
possible ivesy lol
Was hoping to involve them, tech them some manners, and to actually involve them in a word game which will help them with word recognition and spelling, but alas...
My son used to play this when he was younger :)
You know how awkward that age can be- acne, Bad hair, anxiety about friends...
you you little girls
but that is like learning at school cross that is not what they wanted to do they wanted a chat room
goes to pb for th 4 word
Kaplan that doesn't end in jr high school for some lol
I think in the future- like the next school holiday- we just treat them kindly or take a break for a half hour.
yes, it can be awkward indeed. i remember my sone at that age.
son*
best way to deal with it is ignore them
Where do you kids go to school? Small town, or city?
i dont think they want to be treated kindly. they want to be little brats.
I agree for the most part, MLF, but I like to always tray, rather than just write then off as a lost cause each time
I am mellowing somewhat as the year go by i suppose:)
I certainly don't think we can hold their attention for much longer
I agree. We get all upset that they are trolls but they're just bored kids.
cross but what else are they when they come into a chat room that isn't all about chatting and don't ask about the puzzles or the rules etc?
I know, MLF, I know
kids should be doing homework right now shouldn't they?
re 6/30, pls
I will stay in the pb now
We can tell them the rules, and dare them to compete with each other.
with no manners who don't have anything better to do than insult people.
that would be interesting kaplan
I pick pacman123 as the front runner.
only 2:45 here. School is still in session
does anyone have either 8s?

High School here ends at 2 PM
hey, kids, see if you can find the 8 letter word

Yup
You have a clue, kids, work it out
I don't usually post, but after that, i must say those two must be lonely to have to come in here to rant or they just like hanging with people that have brains which they have but apparently don't use!
you have the clue kids, work it out
We were just in Madrid and went ot The Prado on a Sunday. The majority of folks had out their cellphones and were texting and talking while walking through the museum
I thought that was the word and I tried it before but no luck ty
Remember being that age? Oh, the tender heatrache of adolescent life
It's a crazy world where kids can shoot each other accidentally with guns, while adults fill in their coloring books
i dont think we were as rude at that age as these kids are now..
rotfl kaplan
My better half has recently gotten into adult colouring books. ;)

Could you please not share your words in chat? I think you 2 probably could share them better in your text messages brother forms of chat; most people here don't like to see words in the chat log; it feels like you're cheating
put the words in the add word box, not the chatter box

Doesn't Dr. God monitor the chat?
idk
jada and xena and kipas and alex - go take another hit on the crack pipe and then breath real deep. repeat 30 times until you pass out. Believe me, everyone here will then like you.
telling kids to kill themselves, even jokingly, is not prob in the best taste
please don't lump me with those clowns. I made an honest mistake.
usual method for dealing is 1) ignore, 2) notify Dr. God and he'll block them... re question, no Dr. God does not monitor chat, though he will, if notified, block access
i did not ask them to kill themselves
thanks kje.
I guess asking them to take crack until they pass out came across as such to me, KT.
there used to be a link under the grid on how to play/rules... I don't see it now. What was that link? anyone remember?
i just figured from their repulsive attitude that that was an activity they were familiar with
This is not a bunch of random trolls. If they know about Dr. God, I would guess this is a bunch of people who harbor a grudge against Babble chat.
There is no link under the grid about how to play. the HELP link at the top of chat explains the game and how it works and scores.

can clue very briefly if needed
Knight, just for the record, I didn't take your comment as suggesting suicide.
the reaction to crack cocaine is not passing out - it is a stimulant. When over-dosed, your heart rate speeds up excessively, your blood pressure spikes, some may get hyper-active or psychotic, and it causes heart attacks. Unlike heroin which is a depressant and people pass out, cocaine is the opposite. If you know the drug, then his comment can mean nothing else. But even if not meant that way, I don't think I would ever tell someone to go take a bunch of drugs, even if I did think they use them at baseline. I understand the frustration with trolls, though my usual response is to ignore them, but the comment is rather harsh.
I'm off. HAGD all
I think comments like the one Knight made are not to be taken so seriously. If, in frustration with someone, you suggest that they go jump off a cliff, it's not really meant as "go kill yourself".
Sorry I missed you Kje. I agree with Molly in that I don't believe KnightTime's comment was an incitement to suicide. The poor trolls, bless them, are probably off their faces already.
Knighttime...You are an idiot and everybody knows you should drink bleach and die.
Jaydahbae101 you should keep your mouth shut.
Good evening all
oh and one more theing telling an 10 year old to commit suiside is pretty sad considering your probaly way older

aww is the baby knighttime going to cry know because hes sad that a 10 year old girl said to drink bleach...I would suggest clorox.

Oh, there have been no "innocent children" making comments here this afternoon. Probably just the same bunch of fakers who come here from time to time. Sad. that some people get their jollies with that kind of stuff.
hey all
MollyL were you in this...NO i didn't think so mrs i can tell people whatever i want to tell them.
Howdy, jan :)
HI Cross :-)
hello...
Is there an Admin on the Babble Facebook page, do you know? Perhaps the page should be put on 'private' so that alerts could be put out that trolls are about and should be ignored? Hi Pen :-)
i don't do Facebook...
Wise, Pen. Facebook is indeed a poisoned chalice.
too time consuming for me...
how goes things Crossy?
sure has cooled off down here..
Yep. Between Facebook, Candy Crush and Babble, I have little time for anything else!
hi jan....
hey pen
A poisoned chalice...I like that term
Oops..... misplaced D. But I think you got my meaning...
Sorry Molly. I misundestood. I thought I had got the phrase wrong, that it should have been 'Poison Chalice', and that you were correcting me. Apologies. My mistake. :-)
Either way, it's a great term. I need to add it to my repertoire. It should probably be in The Feckin' Book Of Everything Irish as well.
Not just Irish...
Oh probably not, but I was referring to a book I have.
ah

Good for you Pen. Well done!!

something that seems very good when it is first received, but in fact does great harm to the person who receives it...great description of Facebook
I'm constantly amazed by the words that pop up when I walk away. :)
poisoned chalice sounds like an old Danny Kaye movie ... companion to the vessel with the pestle having the brew that is true
I loved Danny Kaye. I was going to marry him when I grew up
What happened, Bugs?
help with the co8 pls. saw earlier clues but cannot find it
don't have it peri. Did you look in the old log?
yes and saw clues but still cannot find it

Is one of the crown jewels in the grid or is it just a famous diamond? well, it's a phantom really
no, it's really there
the crown jewels have names? new to me.
The big diamond has a name. The one I'm looking at in the grid is The Kohinor ... but that could be two o's.
I have co7 but no co8
think of crowning someone
here it comes: - the Cullinan I or Star Africa diamond is the largest cut diamond in the world. Pear shaped, with 74 facets, it is set in the Royal Scepter (kept with the other Crown Jewels in the Tower of London). It was cut from the 3,106-carat Cullian, the largest diamond crystal ever found.
I know I have seen some HUGE stones in the royal processions but have never been to GB to see them in person. Thanks for the information.
thanks
could I get stats for the lone I and the lone o please?
ik 4,8
on 4,4
Ah, the Koh-i-noor was once the largest but Prince Albert cut it down to make a better jewel for his Victoria. It is now part of the crown jewels too, set in the Queen Mother's crown.
the ik4 is an alternate (Greek) spelling of a symbol
sorry harp, didn't read you aright
I will just scoop up my diamonds and go home. Bye, all.
bye jwr. be safe
harp, the co8 is an adjective related to the shape of 6 and 7
got it thanks
bye jwr. I eschew safety, Bugs. I'm about to step out into one of the most crowded streets in the world and try to get on a bus. I live around the corner from Stockton Street in San Francisco.

Sorry. :-( Off to PB again...

sound a pig makes nef
Thank you granny! :-)
How are you these days?
doing quite with the infusion therapy in regular instalments. an d you, nef? how are you?
sorry... should read.... quite well. my brain goes faster than my fingers
doing okay. DH has been in & out of the hospital with sepsis; he's with my son tonight at the state fair & I have the evening at home & to myself! :-)
don't fret, granny; my typing is pretty horrid too. The infusions are helping? or wearing you out?
infusions are helping. last time i had three bags of ketamine and i have been firing on all eight cylinders since.that was 4 weeks ago
Oh, MY! I would think that that would help a lot! :-D
oh it's so nice to have time with just yourself. i know. you love them all dearly but not having to think about what they are doing/saying/needing for a few hours is such a relief.
hi rose
he ya TO. how are you honey?
especially if they've been so ill.... Sometimes I think caregiving is more stressful than working in ICU. At least working in the hospital, you could go home & get away from it.
i am running between here and the laundry. how's that for a change.
Hi again TO
i hear you nef. it was the same for me.
fine, nice to see you
LOL! I have 3 more baskets of clothes left to fold; I did launder clothes earlier today
lovely to see you too. it's saturday here, a lovely spring day. so no appointments etc til next week... lolll
it is our holiday weekend, friday night, lovely cool but awaiting the hurricane
How is life treating you TO?
ugh.... i that the same one which hit florida? i think?
Is it expected to hit you too, TO? (I thought you'd be safe)
lots of changes,nef...that's life
we should be ok, waiting to see the track. but the poor jersey shore...major flood danger
I'm so glad we live on a hill (I'm not so thrilled that we are so far from the ocean - except when I hear of these storms!)
gtg, i have a house guest. see you tomorrow
I should check with some friends & see if they are okay; haven't seen a couple on FB yet this evening.
Niters, TO
see you tomorrow TO. xoxox

went outside to hang wash up, found out my gardener has dug up my gladiolii bulbs, weeded and then forgot to replant them.
ARGGHH!
*giggles*
LOL! Why did the gardener dig them up?
in order to weed around them. *sigh*
sometimes i could just scream. he is usually very good about things like that.
(IDK how, when there are 2 clearly labeled boxes: 1 for chat & 1 for WORDS & I still manage to mess that up!
it's the excitement of finding a word
Or just not paying enough attention to where I am
I should give up; this grid is hiding all the words in boxes of letters.
may i help you nef?
How are you doing with this grid, granny?
i finished at the flip which is 3pm my time
How can you do it so fast, granny?
i have always loved words nef. babble has taught me to think laterally. to try alternative spellings.at my 50th birthday party i had a live clown(not a doll) and she roasted me. she asked people if the agreed with the statement... rose is a working dictionary....
ugh... walking dictionary
WOW! I like reading & words too; but the words I think of aren't IN the dictionary! What a compliment that is, though! :-)
don't get me wrong nef. i type in a lot of words which aren't in the dictionary too
LOL! that's good to know! ;-)
my grandfather was a teacher and he taught me to be inquisitive about words. not just their meanings but where they originated etc
The aunt that raised me was also a teacher; AND the County Superintendent of schools for over 20 years. She really stressed spelling & reading too
what a nce memory we both have nef. is your aunt still with us?
NICE for heavens sake
I don't remember that anyone ever mentioned where words came from; for many years I just assumed that most words came from Latin (can you tell I'm Catholic & old enough to remember having Mass said in Latin
No; she died in 2007.
really nef? i would never have guessed... lolll
my older sister was really good at spelling and went to the state spelling Bee contest. (I wasn't so good at it)
was it hard for you, nef, when she passed? i remember when grandpa died all i wanted to do was curl up and die myself. i was only just 20 then.
My Mom died when I was 8; that was hard; my Grandmom died when I was 19; I was very close to her and I still miss both of them a lot. My aunt was 91 and was nearly totally deaf; I was with her when she died; and yes, I miss her too but she was ready to go by then.
Hi there fellow babblers
hey origami
hi origami How are you tonight?
Sorry Nef. I lost my father at 9. It's difficult.
I'm doing OK. Tired and looking forward to a 3 day weekend :-)
HI granny
oh nef, to much grief for a young girl. and you too origami. i admit i was so fortunate to have had three grandparents throughout my childhood and both parents until recently.
I often think about what would we (meaning my siblings & myself) be like if Mom had lived; I doubt if any of us would be where we are today if she did.
I battle hardening my exterior because I lost everyone.
What a wonderful thing to have, granny!
I also wonder, Nef, what I would have been like had my father lived. I am sure I would have had a very different life.
it was nef. i think it may have had something to do with my decision to become a nurse. i wanted to help people like my grandparents did. they were such kind people.
I had one grandparent. She was freaking awesome. She raised four boys during the great depression by herself with no resources. She worked 3 or 4 jobs. She was a force of nature
Well, I mean I had one grandparent I knew.
Same here. When my mom died; she was supposed to be in the hospital for 6 months on bedrest (we're talking 1950's here) because she had a bbad heart. the year before she died she'd lost a set of premie twins right at thanksgiving; so when she found out she had to be in the hospital again over the holidays; she asked her mom & her sister to give us the kind of Christmas she had as a child. So they brought the 5 of us kids from Montana to Minnesota for Christmas; then she died January 10th. We didn't hear from our dad again for 4 years.
That is lovely, granny.
and origami, my hubby's grandmother raised 5 girls through the depression on her own too; her husband died in a farm accident before the last girl was even born!
And I know that I became a nurse (& specialized in CV-ICU for 34 years!!) due to my mom's death
and i specialised in critical care/PACU
LOL! Yep; I have a very strong suspicion neither you or I would have done that without a parent's death
bbl. time for lunch xoxox to you nef and origami. may catch you later.
origami, did your mom remarry or did she raise you on her own?
Bye, granny. I think I'm going to bed before the flip and also before I finish the grid. I'm almost half way now
Don't you just hate it when you put in words that are really brand names?(& not real words at all?)
yeah
hi hurshy; how are you today?
glad it's friday and a long weekend
I hear you clearly on that! :-)
HI, sorry, had to step away. Mom never remarried. In my eyes, nobody could have ever come close to the wonderful of my father. She once told me she didn't remarry because nobody would have been good enough for me :-)
Wow. That's a heavy thought for you!
And it is small world. My grandfather died from a farm accident also. I guess there were a lot of them back then.
My grandfather died during WWII working in a tow mill and a bale of flax dropped on his head & killed him! (he was too old to enlist)
It was OK Nef. I never felt any guilt about that. Because she had a lot of time after I grew up to marry, but she never did. But she was a tough, head-strong woman. She told me once that there weren't many men who could take her on.
so it wasn't exactly a farm accident; but was definitely farm related
Did she enjoy her life, origami?
Wow, my father's father died when he fell off the top of a silo. I guess that's a farming accident?
Farming IS dangerous! But it was much more dangerous "in the olden days" I'd guess!
My mother had a really tragic life nef. She tried to enjoy it, but she lost two children and her beloved husband. If you were asking about my grandmother, she definitely enjoyed life. She had many grandchildren she enjoyed. She taught me how to cook, crochet, play poker. I loved her so.
(my elderly cat is inside a grocery bag & beating it up! I guess even at somewhere around 17 years old she's still just a kitten at heart!)
Oh, MY! Origami; how did your siblings die? (if I may be so bold...)
Yes, Nef. Both of my siblings died. One (I was really close to) died when she was 28 from a previously undiagnosed congenital heart defect. I was devastated because she was like a second mother to me. My other sister died the same year my mother and husband did. She died of a heart attack at 54. A very bad year for Sherrell.
I'm so sorry for your losses, origami!
Thanks Nef. In the spirit of full disclosure, my son died a few years after my husband and mother.
help with 8s?
I always think that my mom & grandma have been watching over me throughout my life -just not all the time; like when I did things that weren't exactly proper! ;-) I had read your profile; you've had a lot of deaths of loved ones.
So, now I stumble on ... There is a lot of stumbling.
hurshy, I only have a co 8/45; I don't know the other one
Yep Nef. Sometimes I cringe to think what those watching over me are seeing :-)
LOL!
Co8 is like crowning someone; but it ends with a man's name
ori, I think everyone who's alive are all stumbling through life. It always frustrated me when I was young that babies & lives don't come with instruction books....
ty nef
did you get it,hurshy?
I missed your post about when your mother died and you didn't see your father for years. So sorry. So hard on you.
That was so many years ago; and like I said; you wonder what would life have been like if it would have been easier. :-)
Very true about stumbling Nef. At least we're stumbling and not just static :-)
I have a refrigerator magnet that says "Yesterday is history, tomorrow in a mystery, today is a gift" It's a quote of Eleanor Roosevelt. I always try to remember to live today like that
That's how I get by
Do you remember those "WWJD" bracelets that were so popular back when?
Another help is being with my beastie dogs. They want a walk now. So going off to exercise them. Night Nef and all.
niters, origami. Keep stumbling! ;-)
Will do Nef, Stumbling is my middle name :-)
Take care, origami.
