Good morning all
Good morning, Sukee.
I hope you'e having a better day!
Feeling slightly better, as I predicted, I have a cough.
My housekeeper has a nasty cough, for sevral days now. I hoper I don't catch whatever it is!
She keeps saying that since she has no fever, she's not contagious
The is another thing, my fever is gone. Yesterday it almost got up to 39C.
I don't recognize metric temps, but that looks high. What is normal?
that is about 103
OOph, that's high, but I guess it means your ody is fighting
I looked it up, that is considered a medium-high temperature. they said 104 is when you should find a doctor.
Exciting baseball game tonight. My team is playing one game to see if they are officially in the playoffs.
Hey Ruby, how do you get on in France in F only? Most of Europe uses C....? (My mother came to visit when I was pregnant and decided to cook a roast dinner. She approached me in horror and said 'the oven only goes up to 250 - we'll be here all night! I reassured her that was Celsius, and 180C is fine)
No baseball on TV here, even with a satellite; I think it's too complicated for the French to understand.
That's funny, Matty. I manage with most things, oven for example.
But areas or distances are difficult but at least I understand my weight. LOL
When I first came here, an American friend who visited made me a little crib note for the oven, but I've bee, here almost 18 years!
In the UK, weirdly, we still use feet and miles (though if you want to order from Ikea, tis best to know metric!)
I think in both - funnily enough, for very hot temperatures (weather hot, not oven hot), I still find F easier but can do both. Somehow 90 sounds hotter than 30something
Off to get some breakfast, I actually have an appetite again.
I estimate temps, 5 C= 10 F, close enogu "for jazz" lol
Bye Sukee
I guess in the UK, the mélange is used. Here, nobody know anything but metric or French. Nobody in my village, except for the rare snowbirds, speks English
15C=59F - I tend to start from there (and, of course the easy one - 0C=32F)
What could be nicer -- the cold sun is shining, the fire is alight, my Rufie is lying at my feet, etc. etc.!
and, of course, Babble and Matty!
Small goals met, see you later
Have a great day!

I'm stuck on the Is6.
I am always surprised that lilo isn't allowed.Over here a lilo is a blow up mattress. We once had a very good comedy where husbands girlfriend was always referred to as Lilo Lil which is a term that is still used for an shall we say easy lay and I think it is brilliant!!
Too funny, Deeha. Lilo sounds like an Ikea product too.
Think they have been around longer than Ikea!

Hah! Have you ever seen the clip from the Tonys (I think) from a few years ago with Neil Patrick Harris threatening to play Angry Birds with a real, livid chicken?

*waves to Bugs*
waves back to ruru and all lurkers. I got up early to go to a meeting that was cancelled. Lucky me
hope you are safe from earthquakes, fires and all other disasters that plague California
we're expecting an earthquake at some point.. there's been a lot of activity.. hope it doesn't happen when Doren is here.
when will that be?
she's coming next week to visit her son
Mr Bugs said he heard there were warnings for you this weekend but I thought he was making it up
we should be preparing up here too then. Apparently the whole west coast is connected somehow
there are warnings.. particularly in SO Cal. (i'll be down there Thursday and Friday. Doren comes here early next week. I hope the weather holds
If I'm crushed in a building It has been fun knowing you :D
I have never heard of warnings before but it makes sense.
the San Andreas Fault (the big fault) is acting up.. not a good sign
some places have sirens if I am not mistaken?
we have sirens for tsumami warnings MLFAN but I am north of California
Mr. Bich was in the one in Northridge in '95. He said the water in the pool was splashing out
i assume you don't hear them too often then Bugs?
we have felt an aftershock from an earthquake once since living here
we are in no imminent danger where I am on the east coast of Vancouver Island, but there are lots of sirens and escape routes mapped out on the west coast of the island.
I remember one day sitting for grandson and there was a tornado warning. I took him into the bathtub for some reason. It never made landfall
we are still getting debris floating up on our beaches from the mega quake in Japan a few years back
tornados frighten me much more
glad we don't have those
the hurricane in the Caribbean looks pretty scary too
The bathtub is a recommended place to go during a tornado. It's a construction thing. The bathtub is generally the structurally safest place in the home.
Thans for validating that Molly
I'm assuming Eva had her baby?
yes she did a big boy
that is; true molly
ruru when did she have the baby?
she was expecting that
Ooo yes Bich. Look at her profile, she posted a picture.
did she share his name? Old fashioned ones seem to be coming back in
I have a new grandson named Stanley
congrats bugsaw
i love that outfit on her baby
thanks ML. He came as a package deal with his mother. My son loves them both and I am happy for them all
Congrats Bugsaw
well Bugsaw i don't believe the stork stories so i am glad the mom was there too:)
I think that means her son married a woman with a child MLF
lol ML
How old is Stanley?
oh:)
he did Molly. It took him a long time to committ because he knew he did not ever want to hurt the little boy if they broke up. Stanley is 5 and loves my boy to death
i keep wanting to spell granola and i know the grid doesn't have an r
I think it is commendable that your son gave the whole thing a good deal of thought. So many people jump into things without thinking and that can lead to unhappy places.
Ti8?
thank you Molly. I am very proud of his too. I agree that too many young people are more concerned with their needs first and fail to see how much the children are affected by having people come in and out of their lives.
too true Bugsaw
no idea ML
are there any words using the tion?

hi mil, getting prepared for the wrath of Matthew..I live very close to the coastline of the ocean so we are expecting high winds and lots of rain.
hope you remain safe too Nancy
uggghh nancy please be safe!!!!!!
hi bugs
nancy what state are you in?
Florida, not worried about anything except losing power. Two freezers of food...
nancy hope the power stays on for you!
A lot o people have gotten back up generators here
I know, but they are expensive and are used so seldom.
Well, if you've never lived through an ice storm in December and had no power for days, it's a wise investment
No ice storms here, thank God.
It was brutal
I am originally from Michigan so I DID live through huge snowstorms and ice storms. That is why I live in Florida now,
We cooked out in the garage on a camp stove. We also closed off our kitchen from the rest of the house. It has a fireplacce and existed like that.
Florida is warm, no snow. But those rising sea levels.
and the temps can drop there too.
you can also get storms if you live in the upper part of the state from ga and Louisiana too
Mr. Bich grew up in South Florida. No heat, no AC
Yes, we cant wait for the cooler temps. All original northerners LIVE for the month of OCT to MAY.

I have a 4/6 and 5/14, but not the second one
I read an amazing book once cant remember the author or title but it was about America caught in a sort of ice age and every autumn people in the north all had to move south til the spring. The scientist working on the conditions and how to live them went slowly mad I suppose and believed himself more and more Christ like until he was waling the country barefoot coolecting followers. It sounds odd but it was a beautiful book that made me cry
sounds interesting deeha

I would love to have a freezer, but I will never get one unless I can back it up with a generator in a power failure. I couldn't take losing an entire freezer full of food. It is too big of an investment.
We had a freezer when I used to do vegetable gardner [much younger me and house with a big sunny back yard]

LOL! :-)
58 left i am out poof
had, MLF
Oh, dear. I've been buried in the grid (& texting with kids) & just now noticed what I'd posted to MLF. That was supposed to be HAGD, ML; but it wasn't, was it?
I don't know if it's my fingers or my keyboard lately, but I sure get a lot of "Words have to be at least four letters long" messages lately when I enter words in the other box here. (My arthritis in my hands has been bad this summer; I'm not on my computer as often because of it)
lol nef was wondering about that
And that's why I have spellcheck on when I play Babble. :-/
i definitely have an issue with my keyboard where certain letters stick and the enter key doesn't work...perhaps i should stop eating my lunch over my keyboard :)
DH spilled so many times on his keyboard we are now both banned from eating while online (I have to obey "the Rules" too, even though HE is the one with the problem)
lol
Last weekend we had 2 spills of water glasses (on carpeting), (also cat puke on both the chair & the carpet; but who's counting)? ;-) spaghetti on kitchen tile; and a bottle of Goo GOne on the newly refinished dining room floor. Just a bit more than usual; but *I'm* the one who has to clean these messes up. And not be upset or angry about it either.
well that's just plain unfair
of course, i'm the one who spills (red) wine on BF's (cream colored) carpet and then let him clean it up lol
Well, he has MS; & he's having more problems. He's had it for 28 years; but is now really having trouble with spasticity & mobility & balance. so, that's how it is.... I don't want to give him a sippy cup yet; but I do think we will be needing one in the future
Oh-oh, Blah! That's bad!
(did it come out?)
oh nef, i guess you can't really get mad at him then
but i'm sure the whole situation is frustrating
yes, mostly :D
I really try not to; unless it's something REALLY stupid. The Goo Gone spill was really stupid; but it was too big of a mess the waste the time scolding or yelling at him (I mean; WHO would put an open bottle on the floor right next to your chair leg instead of on the table where he's working & can see it?)
lean
Hi TO, how are you (& I've already got that word, can you post one I don't have?
:-)
:) *waves*
How are you today, TO?
oy nef, that would make me crazy!
I also have it TO, post one I don't already have plz
Exactly, blah! Why do you think I'm anywhere near normal? ;-)
"normal" is a relative term ;)
i want sealion
I wonder why that isn't a word, TO
probably two words
time to get ready for happy hour. later, all
very true, blah. I meant that last post to you to say exactly the opposite of what it seems to mean; but you seemed to understand what I meant (I think); so *normal* is indeed relative
Have fun, TO!

Hi lil*monkey; how are you doing today?
Hi nef! Just preparing for Hurricane Matthew here on the east coast.
Oh, man! It really sound terrible, doesn't it?
23 words left; I need a break. BBL
Yes, it sounds like it's going to be pretty awful... I'm upset about all my friends on the OUter Banks of NC. They are going to be hit hard, I'm afraid.
yes I'm glad I'm 100 miles inland.
Where in NC are you mixi?
Chapel HIll
Oh very nice area
My friend Sarah lives there, she took me to this amazing ice cream place out in the country, where they make the ice cream right there on site. It's a big place with rockers on the front porch, and you can sit there and eat the ice cream.
It burned down last month. Maple View.
Nooooooooooooooo
OH how sad
spoke to soon. no milk for 4-6 weeks, but at this point there is some ice cream stocks.
I haven't been by since the fire.
Wow they had the best peach ice cream I have ever tasted.

ae 7 please
ae7 pertaining to the wind Nan
ae + an opening, a h**e + british for John....
no idea
the H word in my clue is where you try to send the golf balll....
thought british for john was john
maybe it's welsh...
common adjective ending....
or scottish..... ;o)
ty pen --- want to go for scots?
whatever... ;o)
That variation of John is actually Scot. Unless you are talking about toilets, and that is a whole different ball game.
well the scots are part of Great Britain.... ;o)
Only in the eyes of the Brits.
and of a lot of the scots apparently....did they not vote to remain in GB?.....
Yep, too frightened to be their own country, apparently. Sad. Scotland and Ireland were once countries of their own right before England took over.
i am not enjoying this grid....
i gave up on it earlier in the day. Some of them are just not worth finishing for me.
i hear ya....
i am going once through the list and i am done...
I am done with the grid too.. but I finished it :D

where does she live that all is locked up tight?
mkg, scary clown sightings all over the US . . .
this stupid clown thing is out of control. The kids at school today were all twitchy and rumors were flying
mkg -- another from the bottom i -- in5 like veggie that makes you cry :-)

clown sightings?
ty for i word. got it. ty
google it, mkg....its so dumb
just google scary clowns
are you babysitting?
i googled it. weird stuff. so are these clowns doing anything or just scaring people? not that this is nothing since i feel i could die from a good scare.....
just scaring them
just scaring them as far as I know, but if you ask a teenager, the answers you get are unsettling. they SWEAR "somewhere down south" kids are being killed by clowns, dragged into woods by clowns, etc, and "some one saw a clown at (local place, name changes with every telling) trying to attack kids with a chain saw!" and NOTHING we say convinces them otherwise.
BRB . . .
Scope says it's all fake
no chance convincing a school full of twitchy teens - everyone knows someone who's third cousin's best friend SAW IT
HUGE time suck today. very, very hard to settle the kids down
They've been sighted around here, and it's completely out of control. Nothing has happened. I wonder why anyone would dress like a clown now. Someone's gonna shoot them!
I'm not a huge fan of clowns anyway....

Ends with a suffix sometimes for used young animals - as in year****.
Starts with a word for a statistical average, less the first consonant.
i love that when I see in Lickety that there is a si6/24 before the first si4/5, (which I have) I can figure out what it is right away even tho I have no idea what this word means. I have been playing this game too long.
nice going doren :D
