Sprite, if I booked a hotel in Amsterdam, which area would you suggest
depends on what you want to do, Maisie, and what you like in a hotel. Center is great for sightseeing and easy access to all public transportation. But not quiet.

I wanted to be near the canals it looks pretty and would be nice to walk there I think. I'd like to be within walking distance of everywhere, not much to ask lol
Hotel - reasonable price, clean and comfortable
then center it is. The canals go around the center. You can walk most everywhere from there, and if it is too far, you just hop on a streetcar (tram) and it will take you.

Public transport in Amsterdam is really good. Walking around the canals is lovely. We stayed further out and got the team straight into the centre. Very easy.
there are quite a few hotels on De Dam, which is as central as you can get.
Tried to get ther last year but the friend we planned to go with messed us about and the trip never happened
