hello, ladies! up late, can't sleep, got a nasty cold. :P
awww, poor rbud
Hello rbud. Everything is coming up roses!
it went through all in the house, thought I'd dodged it, but no. So it goes.
i hate the snuffles which don't allow me to breath properly.
I have the faucet effect, just drip drip dripping, to where you just want to stuff kleenex in and forget it, haha!
sooo... a trip to Paris coming up? how neat! :)
poor rbud !!!

hey ya rbud
always wanted to get to Paris myself, but scared to leave the country at the moment, even if I could afford it. Might not get let back in!
(though at this point, being stuck somewhere else might be a good thing.)
*timer going berserk,* so dinner is ready *. xoxox to all of you
enjoy! :)

achoo! sneezing fits, too, sigh...
I just rreead your profile, rbud. Profound condolences; I'vge been a widow for 14 months, so I understand.
Wherre in Illinois? I lived in Carbondale for 2 years.
thank you. I remember reading that, late condolences to you as well. how are things now? finances and such work out okay? hope so. still have the dogs?
we're about 45 miles north of Peoria
The dogs sustain me, good company and protection
just up the Illinois river.
good morning babblers
hiya, sprite! :)
hiya rbud!
'((sprite))
*hugs ruby*
didn't mean to kill your convo, girls
I kept putting words in the chat
I keep seeing cilantro.
And I just talk too much when I chat, haha. For example:
I've been visiting with a couple of local friends who are also recent widows - seems to be a lot of it going around this area. :( One is losing the family house of 50 years, so sad. Her hubby talked her into a mortgage shortly before keeling over in their yard. She can't pay it off. So sad. I count my blessings, ours has been paid off for years.
that is so sad :( Poor lady.
Never too much, rbud
what ruby says
I guess I can claim about half of the disability he was getting per month, but not till October when I get old enough. Not much, but with my little library job, and our daughter and her boyfriend helping, we may get by.
am so sorry that on top of having lost your loving partner, you have to battle money issues as well
will be a long summer! good thing I'm so good at being poor, long years of practice! :D
:(
The old man was a large part Scottish in descent, he had the penny-pinching gene. He donated himself to science partly because he thought it was cool, and partly because it then costs us nothing at all in funeral costs. They just send along his ashes in a bit.
My husbaand's ashes are in the pantry. One of these days, I'll bury them in the garden next to the dogs, as he wished
I am so very sorry for your loss, rbud. Not sure I already had a chance to tell you this.
thanks. I am coping a day at a time. Still have the occasional short feeling that he's still there in the other room, and I should run and check on him... about halfway through that, I realize all over again. But it's not so bad. He was getting very ill, and didn't want to linger long and be a big burden. Not that I'd have begrudged the care.
*hugssss*
but at least we already knew his time was likely short, and so had time to finalize this and that, and be close.
After a year, I've been having very nice dreams about old Burt
that is wonderful :)
He designed a special box for his ashes, with motorcycle bits and emblems to be incorporated. He drew it up and sent the items off with a nephew, I never saw the drawing. His cousin has a casket-making business, and tells me it's almost done. He'll likely sit on top the TV cabinet, and I'll probably have regular chats with him, haha! :)
it's been 10 years since I lost a very dear friend of mine. I still have moments that I am about to pick up the phone to tell her something, then realise I can't.
sounds wonderful, rbud
I suppose one never does quite get over the loss of someone very close. I know I can barely stand dealing with "the public" yet, and haven't been to work much.
I love that you have Burt in the pantry, ruby. Cozy spot amongst the foodstuffs. :D
sounds about right, rbud. Step by step, I guess, and be kind to yourself through the process.
But he wanted to be buried with his beloved dogs: Rufus, Cleo, Ruby and Max
did he know Max was dead then?
They're all Under the pines and there's "bear garlic" that blossoms in May
No, I never told him about Max
I told him that he was probably adopted
that is what I thought
There would have been no point
he needed almost constant care for the last year, I'm starting to plunge into some long-delayed projects around the house, now that I can, without neglecting or disturbing him - it's quite the adjustment. Sort of liberating, but disorienting, at the same time.
good for you, rbud. Takes courage.
Easy's brother will scatter some of his ashes down a nice stretch of highway from his motorcycle, after a big memorial party. That was his plan. We keep the rest. He also had a good-sized song list, working on finding and organizing that. He was big on music.
all meaningfull stuff
meaningful*
Nice to have his ideas already recorded so I know what I'm doing.
helps to give a sense of direction in all the decisions you have to make, I imagine
Yep. And it made him happy to tend to it all as best he could. He couldn't walk around any more, or work on bikes or cars, but he was all there mentally and liked having projects in the works all the time. And he could still write okay, so he made lists and such.
I guess I had better get out of bed. Hopefully, the downstairs is warming up a little.
have a grand day, ruby!
It's almost lunch tme! Maybe the daffs will open today
and stay warm! :)
((rbud and sprite))
*hugs ruby*
oooh, flowers? hmmm, I should have covered the tulips, oops... I saw them above ground, poor misguided early things, bet they froze. Cold here.
lots of early stuff here too, but I think they will make it. A bit of frost they can manage
There was frost after all the bulbs were several inches up. They are still on their way, just not flowering yet
One year there was a foot of snow in April, after everything was in flower and it was beautiful
Fingers crossed, but they say we have a couple of 17 deg F nights maybe coming up, might be the end for them. And my lilacs, but that seems to happen nearly every year. Only have lilacs way down inside the bush, if any.
People here dig up their tulips but it's too m_uch trouble and most survive
I agree, never have dug them up since planting them. And they were old tired clearance ones after Easter or Mother's day, I would get them for 50 cents, plunk them in, and hope for the best. I'd say half or more pop up every spring.
they are certainly determined, once I tried to dig some tulips up across the street before they tore down a house, but I gave up when it got to be a foot or more below ground. All stem. They'd been there for decades, and no one lived in the house the whole time we'd been here, probably 20 years at that time.
every spring a cheery bed of bright red ones over there. :)
bulbs can be really hardy things. Tulips for sure.
it is a lickety grid for me today. Li4ed with over 30 to go
phantom: initial
only shooting for half, with nbt and nbs. Only a few more to go.
gooooo rbud :)
my beloved and dog have just left the building :D Nice and quiet here now, they will be back tomorrow. A whole night to myself. I love them to pieces but definitely can enjoy a night alone.
Morning all. The Is (eyes) are killing me - I still have nothing for the lower left i nor the second column i...
hiya matty!
hi Matty
How's it going, Sprite?
I do, let me check which is coming from where
The only i...s I have are in4/4 x 2
Back with 73 left. Same goals as rbud nd also need that i (eye)
il4/4 and 5/12 from the bottom i
all good here, matty, thanks! How are you doing?
Not too bad - pretty good, I guess, in the great scheme of things. We finally have a quieter couple of weeks after around four weeks of visits and stuff
second column i it6/21
There's a nice in6 from the top i
ty sprite
also a in7/28
sounds good, matty. A bit of quiet is nice, isn't it.
the in7 from the top as is ruby's 6.
I hate vowel words. I've said this before and shall no doubt say it again
That middle i I am also missing (I have three from the top i)
vowel words are harder to spot, for some reason. I think most babblers agree with us on that
Bottom corner i dealt with now :)
is6/18 is from the middle i too.
so from the middle: it6 cursive and is6 i + fabric
Whew! May I have stats for any 8, then I shall be nbt, nbs?
to8/40
or to8/50
ou8/65
Got the ou8 - now nbt/nbs - thanks! Shortly we shall be putting things in the loft :)
wtg matty!
couple of Ls and Cs left here
fireflies. Any clues needed before I go?
congrats! and nah, none for me. I'm going to try to nap a bit more. :)
I am off then. *hugs* and have a lovely day.
have a good nap, rbud

((((ruby)))) too, if you're still here. :)
Hint for the to8 please
Someone who does things entirely
Good morning all, snow is back.
Or maybe someone who adds things up
Ty for that clue Molly
We have cold weather here, but no snow. It is really depressing since all the blossom trees have bloomed.
Thank you!
And it's supposed to be crappy and winter-like all week. Gross.
Yes, March is colder than February was.
Ah well, I'm grateful that for the most part, this has been a very mild winter.
With the wind chill today it's going to be 0 today
Whee! Let's go outside in down coats, scarves and gloves and admire the daffodils.
phantom: totality
*Sends Bich 3/4 of the way to the PB : D
lol
maybe it's warm in the PB, just a thought
Indeed it is. There is a fire in the fireplace and the hot drink of your choice. (I know it's not coffee) : )
Hot cocoa [sugar free]
Ooo, that sounds good. I will add a little peppermint schnapps to mine.
I wish I could eat nutella
There are recipes for sugar free nutella
good idea Molly
I don't know how close it is to the original though, since I am not a nutella fan. Some "diet" recipes are truly awful.
And Amazon sells something called Nuti-Lite that is sugar free
yes and is uber expensive. rather make it myself
Isn't it ironic when you have to pay more for things that have less in them?
Good morning! Stats for the 3rd row I, anyone?

I think in7 is one of them
Nope, I was wrong

Eleven years old now! How's your daughter?
She's good - she'll be 26 in June and is looking at going to Australia for a year with her boyfriend (probably end of May). Do you still have dogs?
My profile pic here is the two of us this Christmas
26! I don't believe it. We lost our last Ridgeback two years ago. I borrow other people's dogs now.
I'm so sorry :( But at least you have loaner dogs
Yeah, she's all grown up
pen does it end in li 4/4 or the last 3 letters of that word?
You both look good, Matty.

How is it that Canadians are handier than Americans?
thanks, swmbo!
Canadians have access to creamery butter
we are expecting some snow next week
Oh, you said hardier. *Adjusts glasses*
Americans are harder than Canadians though
no comment
As for hardy, so far, we are the ones who kicked the Brits and decided to run our own country, so I will give "hardy" to the Americans.
burned down white house, just sayin' 1812
hi bonk
morning
hi bonkler
99 words left will be back
The British burned down The White House in 1812
and they still lost the war... ;o)
neither side won or lost, it was at best a stalemate "... At the end of the war, both sides signed and ratified the Treaty of Ghent and, in accordance with the treaty, returned occupied land, prisoners of war and captured ships (with the exception of warships due to frequent re-commissioning upon capture) to their pre-war owners and resumed friendly trade relations without restriction."
Well, everyone is free to "interpret" history their own way.
Mornin', kids!

hello everyone - probably not going to finish this one -- busy day
hi Nan
just got back home after being away for 2 days - not sure if I will be able to finish this
My life improved the day I sat myself down & said 'Soods, if you don't finish Babble today, chances are that the sun will still rise tomorrow,'.
I don't believe that for one second
there's no way the sun is coming up if I don't finish this
is my red icon still showing or is the spring one up?
spring...
good --- a friend sent it -- it was good to get a chuckle out of the abominable weather we've been having
nice one nan
Last post (and this one) is being typed with ring finger. Central heating broke down today & I decided to bleed the radiators. The heating came on with a whoosh ... Leaving me with my forefinger in the way of several gallons of boiling water. Because I am a dope, I switched fingers...so both of my forefingers are now blistered & really really sore. Sorry for moaning, but I'm in agony.
that sounds awful
yuck!...sorry to hear it...
ouch -- suppose you have iced them
* hope you have antibiotic ointment on hand
Resident aloe vera plant in kitchen is nearly plucked bare. Ice also applied. Blistering still happening.

sorry
Lol. Serves me right. I'm too stingy to call in a plumber. Gonna have to do so Monday. Moo
Mool - I have raisin. A more valuable clue next time, please?
It might be a good idea to go the A&E too, soodle
Pshh!!! A&E is for wimps Jaxx. A couple of Solpadeine, a bag of frozen peas, a chunk of aloe vera .... I'll survive! :-)
Nice to see you again BTW!

When I scalded my hand last year the blister was small initially but 12hours later went all down my wrist and over the back of my hand. It stood about an inch from my skin
and was made worse by it being a damp heat. It meant several trips to have the bandage changed.
It is time for some of my meds so I must away. Night all
Confession time.my Ex used t go on 'economy drives' from time to time, when he would take homemade lunches to work. One day, i substituted a raw egg for his hard boiled egg.
