{{hugs}} flosey
how's the head tonight, flosey?
FWs
WTG DIZGRANNIE@!!!
almost normal rose, thanks
had to pass on bridge this afternoon though
sweetie. please go back to your GP. it isn't normal to have so many headaches.
ah Rose, it's nothing compared to what I went through many years ago - with migraines
honey..... i understand about the migraines, truly i do. but bad headaches can be indicative of other conditions apart from high blood pressure or tension. you are the only flosey in my world, and i don't want to lose you. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR... shouted as quietly as i could.
ok Rose, tyty for caring - next time I see my doctor I'll mention it - I'm soon due for checkup
Morning all. May I please have a clue for
la8-50? Thanks
thank-you sweetie. i have already lost one friend, possibly due to my NOT speaking my mind. i am NEVER going to let that happen again. :-)
la8. la + mathematical function + outing with loved one
you are indeed a very good friend, Rose - and I appreciate your concern
{{hugs}} dearest flosey
Thnks much, Rose.
okay... *putting flosey on the spot* and when is this check-up to be?
must find food.....brb
soon, Rose, will need script renewal
and i don't care if your doctor looks at you crossed-eyed. tell them your aussie friend who is a critical care nurse insisted. i don't mind taking the blame. i have very broad shoulders and the hide of a rhiniceros... loll
bless you Rose, I'll tell him that - and if he looks at me cross-eyed, I'll just giggle
good for you sweetie.
giggling is good for the soul, but not for the BP which it elevates.so... please don't giggle until after he has checked your BP.
oh yes, I do have to be careful there!
right now, I'd better get to bed, bb in the morning
goodnight Rose, and you have a good day
yeah, i know. my own GP remonstrates with me everytime... stop giggling...she says...but it second nature to me... it is the way my father brought me up... no use crying, girlie. just laugh it off... and so i have... for most of my life.
46 to go
sweetest of dreams dear friend. i hope your tomorrow is so good that you can't believe it happened.
tyty
and leaving with a big hug to you Rose
thanx dearest
Sweet dreams, flosey.
hi all does anyone know whether that ga8 is a compound word?
Not unless there's more than one.
hmmm
I will give that some thought thanks gillie
ga8. ga*, space + tarts + consonant
you must be finished eh Rose?
yup sandy... lol
how are you, dear sandy?
fine thanks Rose but darn it I have to go and look after the littlies while my daughter gets a stick out of her horses tail!!LOL
of course you do.... stick out of horse's tail is very important...
good morning babble mates
cooooeeeeee roooooseeeee
*sigh* missed you by 2 minutes
phantom: idolate
nope.. your'e a bad shot.... i am here
jeeeezzzzzz slowpoke!
*hugs rose* Hello sweetums ;) How was your church meeting and did they like the dublin soup?
slowpoke??? was choking down salad vegs as fast as i could... loll soup was amazing.. everyone came back for seconds...
good grief woman, taking 33 minutes over a mere salad? :D
woooot, glad your work was met with success. Did you have a good time?
and after i put a container into the freezer, and sent 4 containers home with various peeps, the soup pot was empty...
*grins* Good job. I cooked a curry yesterday and made enough that Tim could eat with us, and put 2 portions in the fridge for later this week.
you need to work on your maths sprite. i was here after 12 minutes.l.l.
ahem... loll
but i am not a nitpicker....
nope. Last post 3.12, first post 3.45. Makes 33 minutes.
not gonna argue with you... no matter what..... luvs ya too much..
love you right back, babe. But I am still right :)
lollll... nope not gonna argue with ya....
*grins* that is cuz you know I am right
tum te tum....
see? *innocent smile + blink*
btw... please can you find time for me to visit the museum... i want an antique jeweler to look at this shirt cuff stud i have.
which museum, hun"
that " was actually a ?
the best antique jewelry .... i have a shirt cuff stud with a picture of an ancestor who has prolly died under a glass dome. i think the two studs were divided between two branches of the family.
pfew ok, must try and find one, hold on
the stud has the maker's mark on the back
I have no idea where to go. Am googling like crazy. What do you want to know about the stud?
i need to know the year it was made, and possibly who asked for it to be made. if it was my g-g-grandfather i may be able to trace the other side of my father's family.
wowzer. Okay honey, I will do my best. But this is not an area I am familiar with, don't have a clue where to go for this.
I will call around next week
so.... i need to find the antique jewelry department of the museum. i am sure an expert in antique jewelry would be able to tell us.
and by 'the' museum you mean which one?
honey, start with antique jewelry experts in amsterdam
Good morning from Wales!
hey ya spellit
Hi Granny
how is this? http://www.rmo.nl/english
hiya spellit!
sprite, how many museums are there in amsterdam?
We are in a converted barn in the Brecon Beacons for the weekend. Birthday present!
Hi Sprite
how many museums? Errrrrr hundreds.
how lovely, spellit. Happy birthday!
Birthday was actually last September! It's a very late 80th
nothing like having a present long after the day, grin. Especially a holiday.
Get off the puter, spellit, and go enjoy your stay, lolll
sprite, look for major museums. i.e. national...
Weather not good so lots of board games with Millie my 11 year old granddaughter
oh that is splendid, spellit. Such a wonderful age.
did you see the link I sent, rose?
Morning peeps! May I have stats for the following please: That weird i in the top left; the E in teh third row, fourth column; and the T at the bottom of the fourth column?
hiya matty! The i: io6/18 and 7/28
the e: et5/12
Taking Sprite's advice so off to explore the Welsh hills!
have a grand time, spellit!
ti4/4
and the single t is ti4/4, the repetitive syllable one
Thanks - looking now!
let us know if you need more of a clue
I will - I shall look first though :) How is everyone this morning?
Should have seen that E....looking for that pesky i now :)
matty, all good here, xoxox
all good here, trying to explain to Rose that even though we are a tiny country, we have hundreds of musea and a huge one like the rijksmuseum doesn't necessarily have a jewelry department... just paintings, drawings and some statuary.
rose, how about that link? Did you go check it out? http://www.rmo.nl/english
lollll and your point is sprite
lollll and your point is sprite
lollll and your point is sprite
I loved Amsterdam (it's the only part of the Netherlands I've been to). So much to see and do. Just don't get run over by bicycles....
lollll my point it, your request is not as simple as you think it is.
May I have a gentle nudge on that io combo?
io + another spelling for not heavy. that is io6
amsterdam is fun. But I think the rijksmuseum der oudheden might be better for jewelry. They do consultations, but their expertise is from the prehistoric times till the middle ages.
Thank you!
ehhh, i will try anything... loll
honey, can you PLEASE check out that link I have posted twice now?
sprite... i think that the link may be the best.is this museum open while we are in amsterdam?
the museum is in Leiden, honey, not in Amsterdam. We might be able to combine it with the Keukenhof. This is what they offer: http://tinyurl.com/kotj7jp
can you try and put jewelry into your link? there is no english option available.
I will try and find some expert in amsterdam too, but that will take some time calling lots of them and finding out who does what.
hmmm, maybe
the link I gave you is of the english site
and you can switch from english to dutch and back at the top right of the page
ahhh.
*giggles* Luvsu honey. We will make it work. Somehow.
i think a personal conversation may be more valuable..
btw... my two younger sons have set up a BBQ lunch and drinks for my birthday. i am so touched.
will call around for you next week, hun, and see if there is an expert available
awww that is sweet, rose!
when is it again, your birthday? Thought I had written it down... jeezz where is it
bless you sprite... i am grateful for whatever is available.
y6awwwn.... very boring... loll
got it
it is in my booklet!
rose, do you have an approx. period for when the cufflink was made?
fireflies
or when your ggggrandpa lived, more or less
ugh that rose...

Good morning kids. We lost our electricity again, right when I was going to log on, and it came on after an hour.
You're on a bad streak. You could get a back up generator
My neighbor has one. They are expensive but it is something to sonsider.

Scrabs, in your climate, it would be worthwhile. Imagine 4-5 days without power
we had a back up generator.. it was very worthwhile
Last week the house temp got to 55 without power for 24 hrs and that was with outside temps of just 32.
Gentleman Bo from S.C., Had a house with a view of the sea, With feet in the sand, Very far from inland, Fine location, we all would agree!
We were without heat for 3 days and wewere miserable
Oh, I need to do so many things for my house--outside painting, new flooring, etc. I need $$$.
I'm always witthout heat, but I'm mostly used to it
I like a cooler house
It's just cold in the mornings because of the dogs
going in and out
you could let them in and out.. they can hold it ruby
Seeing your breath when you wake up is not my idea of fun. Would have to drain the pipes
The bedroom is around 50 but the bathroom is heated
you could do a go fund me page for your house scrabs.. they seem to be the rage here nowadays
On a retirement income, we don't have any major plans here
Except I'm upstairs and would have to stumble down
better than being cold ruby
Bed is the warmest place, great for sleeping
why don't you central heating ruby?
well.. sleep and other things maybe
The coldest room is the kitchen in the morning. There, I can see my breath on coldmorning
No, Ruru, I am not asking anyone for money. I need to budget and save...and stop helping family members. After July I will no longer have to help my niece-in-law with rent on her apartment.
There was a heating system in the floor, but it shorted out soon after we arrived.
I was just joking scrabs.. maybe work a few more hours at the clinic?
We never thought about the heating; I guess, as Americans, we took central heating for granted
I have been selling my art work so that helps a bit.
hello friends. scrabbler, are zero interst heat loans available where you live?
hi trif
hello ruru
I have a home equity line of credit and will likely use that to get new laminate flooring installed here soon. I need to pay taxes Apr 18 and June 15 first. *sigh*
Hello trif
ugh me too.. taxes kill me too
hello ruby....
oh, scrabbler, I know that story well!!!
Happy Birthday to your de4 Primo, Trif. A fine boy he is.
scrabbler, how kind of you!!!! He is dear to my heart, that is for sure. I am really enjoying the process of getting to know my children as adults.
Taxes kill me. I feel like I mostly save to pay my quarterly taxes.
me too.. the killer is you pay your quarterlies and they still want more
scrabbler, I have an entire side hussle just to pay for my house taxes. I am years behind, and got slapped with a lien a few years ago. They published my name in the local paper and everything. THAT was fun
The tricky part here is they don't allow you to pay back taxes off in installments. you have to pay it all at once, and the rate the insurance accumulates at is unreal.
Mass has high property taxes doesn't it?
Penalties and interest soon become more than the principal!
not sure. my town certainly does.
Oh, no, Trif. ;-(
Oh, no, Trif. ;-(
We don't pay much in taxes. Both being retired.
I'm hoping Trump cuts more jobs from the IRS; maybe they'll leave me alone!
I haven't seen a tax refund in many years
whatever, scrabbler. I lost the ability to be embarrassed by my crappy finances years ago
hahah good plan ruby!
just gotta love the government - we send 'em all that money and they waste most of it...
absolutely true bojazz
hello everyone -- the twins are 5 today -- seems like just yesterday we were celebrating their birth
ru - got $13 back from the state this year!!! party time!!
"Macho spending"!

get yourself something nice, bojazz!!!!
hi nan
Yes, Ruru, and the insurance companies are not reimbursing us well so no bonus for us docs prior to needing to pay taxes in Apr and June. Crunch time for us.
We pay a lot of money for medical expenses
Happy Birthday to the twins, Nan!
Happy Birthday to the twins, Nan!
car dealers here say bring us your tax refund and get a new car ... lmao ... wgat're they gonna do when I show-up with my check???
yeah.. I know scrabs.. I hate the insurance companies.. they're jerks to doctors
We have to pay employees first so may not be able to pay ourselves. I will likely not be able to pay my taxes in Apr.

We are being strangled by the health insurers.
ugh Scrabbs that sucks
We are being strangled by the health insurers.
I remember my mum having such troubles in her practice, scrabs...and then months later, a whopper check would arrive, but always too late
scrabs have you joined the group "Physicians for a National Health Program"?
er it is convenient
Ah, the rest of my msg disappeared...urgent care centers are hurting docs because folks go there whenever it is convenient. Then we lose revenue. But people get BAD care there: the wrong diagnoses and the wrong treatment, at least with kids.
No, Hurshy, I will look into that.
count for the top left corner I please?
Yes, Trif, we await those big checks.
io6 and 7

be careful scrabbler!!! and keep a look out for that mysterious stranger you kept running into! I can personally attest that getting a "renter" helps with expenses! lol
Not a stranger, Trif. A high school classmate. Very nice guy named Jim. I would like him to be a house mate. *wink*wink*

Funny that pi was used in a clue. I wonder how many people know 3.1415
,--this one doesnt'
It was just 3.1415 day
the only Pi I know has apples in it :D
if insipid is a word, why isn't sipid, just askin'
There is also some hearts and flowers movie called "The Life Of Pi"
or outsipid for that matter
"hearts and flowers movie"
What does that mean?
wait till nan gets a hold of the pl8
hearts and flower movie.. like Princesse BRide
Huh. So, not like a date movie, precisely, and not like a chick flick exactly, but something . . . similar?
The Princess Bride is not a hearts and flowers movie. Anything based on a Nicholas Sparks book, is.
i think it's like a chick movie...
I don't know the term and haven't seen the movie so I was confused because I equate the movie with a picture of a guy stuck in a rowboat with a tiger, which is sort of the opposite of hearts and flowers.
yeah... like pretty woman
Blood and guts, more likely, if the tuger gets hungry enough.
I got bored with life of pi and turned it off
Again, Pretty Woman is a chick movie. The Princess Bride is not. And Ru, if you ever actually watch The Princess Bride (not The Princess Diaries which you constantly get it confused with) you will know.
i don't want to watch any movie with Ann hathaway
is
oops sorry
Ann Freaking Hathaway is NOT IN THE PRINCESS BRIDE. She is in The Princess Diaries.
(hands a cold cloth to molly)
Sorry if I am being evil to you Ru. I hope a good man stands up to that. : P
i'm not into princess movies.. so sue me
Ruru -- The Princess Bride is an OK movie, but if you don't like the movie, I strongly recommend you read the book. It's dark and twisted, and excellent.
monkeys are tired of looking for the pa6.24 - clue, anyone?

Can anyone clue the pa6/24 please :-)
pa6/24, meaning Roman Catholic
Thanks lil monkey great clue x
yw
It is a derogatory term for Roman Catholic
Just old-fashioned, not derogatory.
Actually, the dictionary says derogatory.
Odd - I neverheard it used that way.
"These and related terms such as popish and popery are still sometimes used by Protestants to show contempt for Roman Catholic practices and tenets."
BUt papist is used differently than popish.
I'm just quoting the definition.
Which dictionary?
pa6/24. please?
The dictionary here.
Also found this on line..."Papist is a pejorative term referring to the Roman Catholic Church, its teachings, practices, or adherents. The word gained currency during the English Reformation, as it was used to denote a person whose loyalties were to the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church, rather than to the Church of England."
PA + most of a ski slope.

SORRY! - Taking a break!
sorry zoozzoom don't get the clue?
The word you are looking for is actually written in the chat log at 4:42pm.
thanks
(zooz directing traffic)
wonder if the pejorative papsmeer came from the practices of the Catholic Church ?
pope cream cheese on a bagel maybe?
I think the English had decided that they didn't like having some foreigner tell them how to conduct themselves. Also, they weren't terribly keen on the Latin and all the fancy rituals.
Bear in mind, many popes through history have shown an alarming thirst for both power and money.
any help please with li6/24?
That is kind of funny considering how many countries the British invaded and then told people how to conduct themselves.
nm, finally found it
I think you'd have to look pretty hard to find any nationality or religion that can reasonably claim to be innocent of that sort of behavior.
Of course, the Anglican church started originally because King Henry XIII wanted a divorce (generous, considering what he did to some of his subsequent wives) and couldn't get the pope to agree. However, the Catholic church was already notorious for selling "indulgences", basically absolution for anyone who forked over enough money.
Henry the Tenth, Gillie?
Surely you mean the Eighth?
I think Gillie meant Henry VIII (8th) rather than Henry XIII (13th). LOL
