12:22 pm

Does anyone else have a husband who is a wimp about his own health issues?

12:27 pm

Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?

12:27 pm

I do judi - except for the husband part, but yes, man cold all day

12:28 pm

pe7....clue please

12:28 pm

Ah the man cold. That equates to the plague I'm sure.

12:29 pm

it does! currently mine has a sore toe situation going on - you would think things were falling off him, the way he has been carrying on

12:29 pm

i dont have it as yet, aeb

12:30 pm

Well, I have a husband who has sleep apnea. He was diagnosed with it about 4 years ago. ENT told him he needs to have his tonsils, adenoids and uvula removed. In the meantime, he snores like a warthog and stops breathing multiple times during the night. On top of that, he goes to bed very late.

12:31 pm

He has also become very forgetful - leaving doors, windows and cars unlocked. Leaving vehicle windows open in the middle of winter. Frequently forgets his wallet and/or cell phone.

12:32 pm

nvm

12:32 pm

nd it

12:33 pm

Judi - my husband has a phobia of ALL THINGS medical. we're talking...takes a bag of ice to the dentist just to get a cleaning because he freaks out.

12:34 pm

What's the ice for?

12:34 pm

that sounds consistent with interrupted sleep, judi.

12:35 pm

to keep himself from overheating due to his freaking out

12:35 pm

That is pretty extreme, Eva. *snuffles laughter*

12:36 pm

yeah. i mean, its funny until its not. like how he couldnt sit through a single ultrasound/sonogram when i was pregnant + i had to have my nearly-80-year-old mother with me in the operating room for my c-section.

12:38 pm

ENT explained that his recovery would be a very sore throat (duh!) and that he would have to live on pudding and cold beverages for about 2 weeks.

12:38 pm

or how he refused to go get stitches when he cracked his head open a few years ago... or how he refuses to get ANY new vaccinations... or how he refuses to get a physical or bloodwork done, despite having regular chest + stomach discomfort. :/

12:38 pm

is he a christian scientist? If not, maybe he should look into it!

12:38 pm

Oh dear. Putting himself at risk for serious infection, Eva. Does he take anything for anxiety?

12:39 pm

like last year, when we both caught the flu...he was LAID OUT for a solid week, unable to function. meanwhile, i was halfway through it without even realizing i had a fever of 102. because....yknow, we women just have to keep functioning, yknow?

12:39 pm

judi - that would mean having to ADMIT that theres a problem. and going to a doctor to get the Rx!

12:41 pm

Have you tried getting him to a psychologist or psychiatrist, Eva? No hospitals or ooky procedures involved there. Just talking.

12:42 pm

very sad......he should take medication for his anxiety.

12:42 pm

we actually did a little couples counseling before K was born, but we weren't able to stick with it long enough to get into anything serious.

12:42 pm

At least my guy gets regular check-ups - dental, medical, dermatologist.

12:43 pm

my hubby is a doctor and so he does go but he tells the doctor what to order for him, not vice versa. but better than nothing.........i guess.

12:43 pm

he actually told me that if our state had required blood tests to get married, we may never have gotten married. ::glare::

12:44 pm

and because i was "advanced maternal age" i got a whole slew of extra tests done + they wanted him to get tested to cross-check results. luckily, they were able to order him a spit-test, or we wouldnt have been able to do it.

12:45 pm

I am so lucky that all my genetic tests when I was pregnant came back negative because convincing my phobic husband to have a blood draw to cross check would have been hell

12:45 pm

I hear ya, eva

12:46 pm

I have repeatedly told my hubby that he stops breathing. I am a heavy sleeper, so I'm not always awake to wake him up to remind him to breath.

12:47 pm

yeah, i was a carrier for 3 things, but 2 of them were no biggie. but one of them was serious + if was also a carrier, we would have had some tough decisions ahead of us...so he HAD to get tested, even if it meant me knocking him out to do it myself! lol

12:49 pm

sleep apnea....i would guess. does he snore a lot?

12:50 pm

eva, what if they put him out with a gas mask? no good?

12:52 pm

I've also told him that he needs to have this surgery while he still has good health insurance (and a wife who's willing to baby him for a few days after he has the surgery).

12:53 pm

he wont let them knock him out - he doesnt like any scenario where he isnt fully in control of his faculties. HE DOESNT EVEN LET THEM USE NOVOCAINE!!

12:56 pm

hah, at least my husband is fully on board with being knocked out for any and all procedures

12:56 pm

About three years ago, hubby broke his back in a mountain bike accident. He had a spinal fusion and was in a full upper torso brace for 12 weeks. I told him if he could survive that, a little tonsilectomy would be a walk in the park.

12:57 pm

it ought to be, judi

12:57 pm

I need to fix my septum and I'm totally dragging my feet

12:58 pm

so i understand not wanting to have surgery when you "feel fine" overall

12:58 pm

I hate to issue ultimatums, but I'm approaching that ledge. Like, I'm leaving until you get this surgery done. Because I don't want to wake up and find you dead.

12:59 pm

ugh. sorry, Judi - i understand the frustration.

1:00 pm

I would find that ultimatum 100% acceptable, sleep apnea it's a big deal!

1:00 pm

I feel for you too, Eva. Sounds like it's going to take some drastic event for your husband to finally see a doctor.

1:00 pm

sleep studies are drugless. also some can now be done at home.

1:01 pm

I would like to amend that ultimatum to say, "I'm taking YOUR credit card and leaving until you have the surgery."

1:01 pm

nbt, nbs, 154 left.

1:02 pm

He had a sleep study done four years ago, Mixi. He flunked out because he couldn't sleep with all the gadgetry hooked to his head.

1:04 pm

we can meet for cocktails to commiserate about our scaredy-cat hubbies.

1:05 pm

That sounds like good therapy for US, Eva.

1:05 pm

hubby has c-pap, hold teddy bear in front of his nose, so I don't get a draft.

1:06 pm

ENT offered a C-PAP to hubby. He refused saying he could never sleep with all that stuff attached to his face/head.

1:07 pm

Good evening. l hate to interrupt this fascinating conversaation, but l can't find the ending for su8. l think l've tried everything

1:08 pm

Three letter word for recline, Ruby.

im sad that I am giving placement tests today - ugh

1:33 pm

Well, thanks for putting up with my venting. I'll let you know what hotel I flee to while I'm waiting for my husband to go under the knife.

ty mool

4:40 pm

np bich

4:59 pm

Found the fish! ta6.27

5:00 pm

hmm, I apparently haven't :)

5:01 pm

not surprised (no reflection on your ability)

5:01 pm

lol

5:02 pm

is it off the t on the second column?

5:03 pm

yes

5:03 pm

builds on the uptight ta4.5

5:06 pm

geez

5:06 pm

that's quite a word

5:07 pm

probably somehow named by the same people who coined the moniker for the Rhode Island State Shellfish

5:08 pm

down to 30...been a slog

5:08 pm

amazing - I'm finding it a slog even after listing and using Morewords

5:09 pm

well that bodes well for me :)

5:09 pm

still missing 9 sevens...and 2 eights...so that's not hopeful

5:10 pm

down to 4 here... 1 each of 4, 5, 6, 7 and each from different letters... ugh

5:10 pm

almost there :)

5:10 pm

hi nrkii

5:20 pm

25 to go...got a seven in those last five, so things are looking up :)

5:25 pm

did you extend your gu6.27 for a 7?

5:25 pm

yeah, that was my last 7

5:28 pm

down to 20...two sevens knocked down in that bunch :0

5:29 pm

pe7.36 type of cotton used in sheets

5:29 pm

that was one of the two I got

5:29 pm

sheesh

5:29 pm

got an ou as well, along with two ou6s which completed the o

gattery

5:30 pm

close :)

thanks for the pt, lynxxx, from a few hours ago.

5:33 pm

yw

Sorry for the nonword

5:34 pm

may I please have a clue for the second re 6,24?

5:35 pm

well my second one sounds like most of the hominid that preceded homo sapien

5:35 pm

ends in you and me

5:36 pm

do both the e's on the left, start with the same two letters?

5:36 pm

yes - one is another 7

5:36 pm

ah

5:36 pm

got it... thanks!! FIREWORKS!

5:37 pm

yay dr!

5:37 pm

Congrats!

5:38 pm

duh, kept trying it with the a

5:38 pm

tx lyn

5:42 pm

Can I help with anything before I go?

5:42 pm

I have an a8 and f8...what do the other 8s start with?

5:44 pm

su8.60 (you'll laugh) & tu8.55

5:44 pm

tx

5:44 pm

Good morning all

5:44 pm

gotta run - lunch out - bye

5:44 pm

bye lyn, hi liz :0

5:44 pm

Have lovely day, Lyn

5:45 pm

heh, tried a bunch of other words, but got the su thx

5:45 pm

Sprite's clue yesterday made me laugh for that one!

5:45 pm

I can only imagine

5:46 pm

I don't think everyone found it funny!

5:46 pm

I could think of a colloquialism that probably shouldn't be shared in a public room

5:46 pm

:)

5:47 pm

15 to go...

5:47 pm

14 here. Clue for ce 6/27 pls?

5:47 pm

still five 7s and an 8 tho

5:48 pm

3 7s here - have the 8s. The tu 8 was a new one for me.

5:48 pm

is it compound?

5:48 pm

Got it!

5:48 pm

Nope

5:49 pm

still looking for one C, but it's not that one :0

5:50 pm

oh, there it is

5:50 pm

the 8 that is

5:50 pm

WTG

5:50 pm

tx

5:51 pm

missing an L still, off the 4th column

5:51 pm

Probably the ly 5 I just got

5:52 pm

Do you have the pt 7?

5:52 pm

yeah, that looks to b e it...looking

5:52 pm

If so help, please.

5:52 pm

hmm, didn't know there was a pt7...looing

5:53 pm

The only pt words I remember aren't in the grid.

5:53 pm

ptarmigan, pterosaur etc :0

5:54 pm

found it

5:54 pm

pterin, ptoses

5:54 pm

tricky one

5:55 pm

well...it ends in a vowel

5:55 pm

and it starts with the same four letters as some pt words you know

5:55 pm

Thanks, I'll look and see how it goes.

5:56 pm

ah, found that nasty ly word

5:56 pm

tx

5:56 pm

Gave up and used the dictionary - I'd never've got that.

5:57 pm

yeah, hard to clue

5:57 pm

couldn't even come up with a good anagram

5:57 pm

anagram - "spanish" for the fiesta?

5:57 pm

I'd probably have ended up pretty much spelling it out - not a good way to clue.

5:58 pm

anagram - someone who helps you put new wheels on your car

5:59 pm

anyway...12 to go

5:59 pm

missing an a from the right column still

5:59 pm

have two ar5s so far

6:00 pm

ar 4 and ar 5 x2 I think

6:00 pm

oh, yikes...missing a 4

6:00 pm

oh yeah...that's not so common...tx

6:00 pm

Hunting for my last o - from the 4th column

6:01 pm

Some questionable out words!

6:01 pm

yes

6:01 pm

I have 10 of those

hi liz

6:01 pm

Hi TO

6:01 pm

though not all of them are compounds

6:01 pm

It's ou 7/32 I'm missing.

6:01 pm

still missing a t from the second column

6:01 pm

I'd guess a compound

6:02 pm

Missing t x 2 from there

6:02 pm

and one t from the 3rd, and one t from the 4th for that matter :)

6:02 pm

but down to three 7s missing...so that's something

6:03 pm

2 from the third but have all the 4th

6:03 pm

Yup. A compound

6:03 pm

6 to go

6:03 pm

go liz go

6:04 pm

9 to go here now

6:04 pm

still have two 4s...so guess I should work on those

oh my - i feel as if i need a nap! and i just started!

6:05 pm

yeah, it's quote the battle to day TO

6:05 pm

I have 2 x 5, 3 x 6 and 1 x 7 to find

6:05 pm

Tough grid for me though it started off well.

6:05 pm

2 x 4, 2 x 5, 2 x6 and 3 x 7 here :0

i drove 20 miles to pick up an item only to find the business closed permanently

6:06 pm

dang

6:06 pm

That's really irritating.

6:07 pm

8 to go

6:07 pm

5

6:08 pm

But you don't use a list so that's awesome!

6:08 pm

yeah, have probably gotten about 6 or 7 clues from chat tho, so not wholly on my own

6:08 pm

No problem with that!

6:09 pm

I'll take clues wherever I find them.

6:09 pm

the cotton, the 2 ly words, the pt word, two of the eights, the ar4...

6:09 pm

and then a t7 came from the 8

ty for ly words

only have half of the 7 letter words so far

6:12 pm

I've used the dictionary for about 8 of the words - I'd never have found them otherwise especially that pt word and a ta 6 I just found.

how many letters to the pt word pls?

6:12 pm

Down to my last word.

6:13 pm

pt 7/40

ty

6:13 pm

7:03 pm

7:03 pm

it is so pretty molly. so so pretty. i stay home and enjoy the white.

7:05 pm

Yeah well I guess if you can stay home it is great. The traffic in this area is bad enough without adding snow to the mix.

7:05 pm

yes, i stay in. as long as i have food i am fine.

7:06 pm

Some of us have to work. Nice that you can stay home.

7:10 pm

it started here as a wet snow and now temperatures will drop to 0 and it will freeze - pretty, maybe - but not good to travel in

7:12 pm

I agree Teach, and I don't find it pretty at all. Just a pain and an inconvenience.
