Does anyone else have a husband who is a wimp about his own health issues?
Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?
I do judi - except for the husband part, but yes, man cold all day
pe7....clue please
Ah the man cold. That equates to the plague I'm sure.
it does! currently mine has a sore toe situation going on - you would think things were falling off him, the way he has been carrying on
i dont have it as yet, aeb
Well, I have a husband who has sleep apnea. He was diagnosed with it about 4 years ago. ENT told him he needs to have his tonsils, adenoids and uvula removed. In the meantime, he snores like a warthog and stops breathing multiple times during the night. On top of that, he goes to bed very late.
He has also become very forgetful - leaving doors, windows and cars unlocked. Leaving vehicle windows open in the middle of winter. Frequently forgets his wallet and/or cell phone.
nvm
nd it
Judi - my husband has a phobia of ALL THINGS medical. we're talking...takes a bag of ice to the dentist just to get a cleaning because he freaks out.
What's the ice for?
that sounds consistent with interrupted sleep, judi.
to keep himself from overheating due to his freaking out
That is pretty extreme, Eva. *snuffles laughter*
yeah. i mean, its funny until its not. like how he couldnt sit through a single ultrasound/sonogram when i was pregnant + i had to have my nearly-80-year-old mother with me in the operating room for my c-section.
ENT explained that his recovery would be a very sore throat (duh!) and that he would have to live on pudding and cold beverages for about 2 weeks.
or how he refused to go get stitches when he cracked his head open a few years ago... or how he refuses to get ANY new vaccinations... or how he refuses to get a physical or bloodwork done, despite having regular chest + stomach discomfort. :/
is he a christian scientist? If not, maybe he should look into it!
Oh dear. Putting himself at risk for serious infection, Eva. Does he take anything for anxiety?
like last year, when we both caught the flu...he was LAID OUT for a solid week, unable to function. meanwhile, i was halfway through it without even realizing i had a fever of 102. because....yknow, we women just have to keep functioning, yknow?
judi - that would mean having to ADMIT that theres a problem. and going to a doctor to get the Rx!
Have you tried getting him to a psychologist or psychiatrist, Eva? No hospitals or ooky procedures involved there. Just talking.
very sad......he should take medication for his anxiety.
we actually did a little couples counseling before K was born, but we weren't able to stick with it long enough to get into anything serious.
At least my guy gets regular check-ups - dental, medical, dermatologist.
my hubby is a doctor and so he does go but he tells the doctor what to order for him, not vice versa. but better than nothing.........i guess.
he actually told me that if our state had required blood tests to get married, we may never have gotten married. ::glare::
and because i was "advanced maternal age" i got a whole slew of extra tests done + they wanted him to get tested to cross-check results. luckily, they were able to order him a spit-test, or we wouldnt have been able to do it.
I am so lucky that all my genetic tests when I was pregnant came back negative because convincing my phobic husband to have a blood draw to cross check would have been hell
I hear ya, eva
I have repeatedly told my hubby that he stops breathing. I am a heavy sleeper, so I'm not always awake to wake him up to remind him to breath.
yeah, i was a carrier for 3 things, but 2 of them were no biggie. but one of them was serious + if was also a carrier, we would have had some tough decisions ahead of us...so he HAD to get tested, even if it meant me knocking him out to do it myself! lol
sleep apnea....i would guess. does he snore a lot?
eva, what if they put him out with a gas mask? no good?
I've also told him that he needs to have this surgery while he still has good health insurance (and a wife who's willing to baby him for a few days after he has the surgery).
he wont let them knock him out - he doesnt like any scenario where he isnt fully in control of his faculties. HE DOESNT EVEN LET THEM USE NOVOCAINE!!
hah, at least my husband is fully on board with being knocked out for any and all procedures
About three years ago, hubby broke his back in a mountain bike accident. He had a spinal fusion and was in a full upper torso brace for 12 weeks. I told him if he could survive that, a little tonsilectomy would be a walk in the park.
it ought to be, judi
I need to fix my septum and I'm totally dragging my feet
so i understand not wanting to have surgery when you "feel fine" overall
I hate to issue ultimatums, but I'm approaching that ledge. Like, I'm leaving until you get this surgery done. Because I don't want to wake up and find you dead.
ugh. sorry, Judi - i understand the frustration.
I would find that ultimatum 100% acceptable, sleep apnea it's a big deal!
I feel for you too, Eva. Sounds like it's going to take some drastic event for your husband to finally see a doctor.
sleep studies are drugless. also some can now be done at home.
I would like to amend that ultimatum to say, "I'm taking YOUR credit card and leaving until you have the surgery."
nbt, nbs, 154 left.
He had a sleep study done four years ago, Mixi. He flunked out because he couldn't sleep with all the gadgetry hooked to his head.
we can meet for cocktails to commiserate about our scaredy-cat hubbies.
That sounds like good therapy for US, Eva.
hubby has c-pap, hold teddy bear in front of his nose, so I don't get a draft.
ENT offered a C-PAP to hubby. He refused saying he could never sleep with all that stuff attached to his face/head.
Good evening. l hate to interrupt this fascinating conversaation, but l can't find the ending for su8. l think l've tried everything
Three letter word for recline, Ruby.

I'm sad that I can't make ou5/12 into an adverb
im sad that I am giving placement tests today - ugh
Well, thanks for putting up with my venting. I'll let you know what hotel I flee to while I'm waiting for my husband to go under the knife.
good luck Judi!

Sprite's clue yesterday made me laugh for that one!

:)

Thanks, I'll look and see how it goes.
ah, found that nasty ly word
tx
Gave up and used the dictionary - I'd never've got that.
yeah, hard to clue
couldn't even come up with a good anagram
anagram - "spanish" for the fiesta?
I'd probably have ended up pretty much spelling it out - not a good way to clue.
anagram - someone who helps you put new wheels on your car
anyway...12 to go
missing an a from the right column still
have two ar5s so far
ar 4 and ar 5 x2 I think

Hi TO

It's ou 7/32 I'm missing.
still missing a t from the second column

Missing t x 2 from there
and one t from the 3rd, and one t from the 4th for that matter :)

2 from the third but have all the 4th

But you don't use a list so that's awesome!
yeah, have probably gotten about 6 or 7 clues from chat tho, so not wholly on my own
No problem with that!
I'll take clues wherever I find them.
the cotton, the 2 ly words, the pt word, two of the eights, the ar4...
and then a t7 came from the 8
ty for ly words
only have half of the 7 letter words so far
I've used the dictionary for about 8 of the words - I'd never have found them otherwise especially that pt word and a ta 6 I just found.

Down to my last word.

i hope we get nice snow here. i live in maryland near DC and could use about 3 to 5 inches. not more.
let it last for 2 days and then disappear.
what is the clue for the pt 7 word? is that the southern point??? it is in hawaii on the big island and it further south than the keys i was told but i dont recall a name.

Why would anyone want 3 to 5 inches of snow???
got it. ty
it is so pretty molly. so so pretty. i stay home and enjoy the white.
Yeah well I guess if you can stay home it is great. The traffic in this area is bad enough without adding snow to the mix.
yes, i stay in. as long as i have food i am fine.
Some of us have to work. Nice that you can stay home.
it started here as a wet snow and now temperatures will drop to 0 and it will freeze - pretty, maybe - but not good to travel in
I agree Teach, and I don't find it pretty at all. Just a pain and an inconvenience.
