Thanks all for the fun clues!!!
you nearly made it.
missed it by 4 fish..
...not bad for only starting it 2 hours earlier and not hinting until the last 40 minutes! :)
re7
Hi all
ma 7/8
evening liz
st7 and vi7
Afternoon, pini
ma7
no7
there are so not 256 words in here!!
I only have an ma 8, but no 7 to go with it
So ma 8 x 2 then?
half way
may be
Well, I have a plural
sa7
my ma 8 is not a plural
mine is
ma7: huge
yeah, have that, but not related
But not huger :(
ok...so ma 8 x 2
liz LOL
:)
hi all --- am 7 if not called
vens
liz and granny should get the one I got
oops
vi7
nice find nan
Every morning in fact, Mool :)
Addicted to it.
figured :)
always preferred it to the other stuff
Me too - but the other stuff will do in times of need!
true, have some in the cupboard
hu7
no idea on those ma 8's
I found the pl but not the other
Clues are up
wusses the pair of you, mool and liz. i love the alternative, especially with honey on toast
thx lickety
another ma7
think water
Is the "veggi" as good as few say?
ooh, nice one vash
acquired taste, but better than durian
that's just gross, mooling
durian? yes
water, eh?
*cringing at the thought, moolingwa*
only four 7s to find for me
yes, boats too
I guess the ma 8 and durian are some kind of food or brand of food sold in the states
both foods yes, but not related otherwise...other than perhaps that they are regional tastes
Nan...I don't think either are sold here in the US...but could be wrong...
mi7 if not called
you can get the more well known stuff here in the US
Not common
really? I can't even imagine finding them here...
Although I think I've actually seen the ma7 here in Wholefoods...or at least the third british version
one of the ma8s is a yeast-based spread, similar to Vegemite in Australia
durian is originally asian
The ma 7 / 8 is also an earthenware cooking pot.
got the ma8 x 2 :)
can't even think of an 8 letter food that begins with ma other than macaroni
yes, durian is asian...the other stuff is more well known a bit south east of there
yeah, I'd be surprised if you'd heard of it nan
no idea
certainly not something I cook or eat
ok - so how about a clue
It's a spread - goes on bread or toast
you don't cook it...in fact, it's use is relatively limited
No, but I'll bet you've heard of it, Nan.
I doubt it pini
Or can be used as a savoury flavouring in stews.
Think Australia's vegi-stuff
the more well known version is associated with the land down under and is even mentioned in a popular song from the 80s
thanks Pini, got it
probably don't know the song either
yes, given that it's salty and could serve as a replacement for beef stock I guess
well, to bed I go...89 left for me...will have to wait
:)
good luck with the grid peeps
a break down clue please? --- I have never heard of this stuff and I must say the descriptions don't sound very appetizing
It ends in a small bug, nan
(it's said to be a yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing?)
Or google "French for a cooking pot"
no 6/7
ty -- sounds like certain rodents
yw - yes, I guess it does. I saw them in Canada.
the bug clue gave it to me
...and off to bed I go ... good luck ... cya l8r!! *poof*

BBL
oops, late... yes, it is an odd word, I agree
BBL
"when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie that's amore..." but not a word here... guess it has to be French, amour..
can't help it, got the song stuck in my head while trying the word...
it is a happy song rbud
aha! finally sussed out that water-related ma8 that wasn't a plural
good morning all
hiya, sprite! :)
good morning Sprite
hiya rbud :) How's life?
*hugs flosey* Good evening, dear lady. How are you today, and was bridge fun?
got a foot of snow on the ground and a nice steady all night snowfall going on... not sure how much mo4 we'll end up with.
ugh... it sure looks pretty, but it doesn't make going about any easier
luckily I don't have to be anywhere for a couple of days.
yes bridge was fun, thanks Sprite, 3 tables, a happy group
that is a great thing. Well planned :) 'Since we have no place to go... let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!'
ah, wonderful, flosey. Glad you enjoyed yourself.
had my little truck stuck last night, but son got it out for me, then someone nicely plowed our big driveway, so at least there's some hope of eventually making it out.
having been raised in Ontario, now on west coast, I do miss the snow - just have an occasional snowfall here
but the plow guy buried my bird-feeding stations... ah, well, will find them in the AM.
yay for helpful people!
Yes, I was a bit surprised by the plow guy, it was the village truck. They'd been sort of ignoring us the last couple of years. Must have felt sorry for me.
I miss playing bridge, myself. Used to play it all the ti4 in college, but no one around here seems to know how.
I can sure understand missing looking at the snow... not so much the walking through it.
how nice, rbud. Worth having to look for the bird-feeding stations, I think
I should learn how to play bridge, it seems such a wonderful way to keep the brain sharp and do something social that is actually fun.
just a few big flat pans, the cardinals like them.
indeed it does Sprite, a great way to get friends together for an evening
cooooooeeeeee rooooooseeeee....
ugh, sprite. as pleased as i am to see you honey, and our gorgeous flosey, oh and there's rbud. i am in a fair amount of pain, both joint and muscle. good day up til about half an hour ago. i could scream if i thought it would make a difference.
go ahead and scream Rose, it might feel good - just warn your neighbours!!!
*very carefully holds rose in a gentle hug* Poor darling, so sorry to hear that. Have you taken an extra endone? If not, do so now.
just did. it will kick in soon.
good. We'll keep you company while you wait for it to start working.
in my volunteer job, I often get a call from a man with cancer, who calls us when he takes his pain medication and we distract him while waiting for it to start working. He is a delight to talk with, very erudite and wise and kind. A highlight in my night shifts.
but for both of you, I really hate the reason you need the distraction... wish I could magic you better.
that's so lovely to hear sprite. and i so wish i could magic for all who hurt, in anyway, particularly you sprite.
aw thanks darling. I was wondering, did you like the kangaroo booklet I made for you?
honey, i have no plans to die soon. but one of the reasons i am not afraid to die, is because i have been promised a perfect new body with no more pain, and no more tears.
you better not die soon, ya hear? We still have plans together. And thousands of things to talk about.
i am loving it, honey. little bits of sprite to dip into. i'm taking my time. relishing each precious page.
yay!!!!!!!!! That was what I was hoping for. A personal note every day :D *very happy now*
I'm off to bed, 100 to find tomorrow, good night all
sleep well, dear flosey. *hugs*
sweet dreams dear flosey
caya loved her presents :)
lovely sprite.
I used to wear this tiny bell on my belly when I was pregnant. Tim does not care for things like that, so we decided to give it to Caya. She loves it!
how gorgeous sprite. what a lovely thing to give her.
:D when they were very little, the sound of the bell calmed them. Maybe there is some part of Caya that can relax on hearing the sound, even when she is stressed.
what happened to my post??
ahem, as i said. i am sending her the fluffiest little koala for her to tuck under her chin while she sleeps. that way she will have a bit f grannyrose with her every night.
hiccup happened. And sorry to be away so sudden, had a rather abrupt call of nature to answer. Back now for the last few.
back for a few more, decided to have a cup of tea so maybe catch a few more words
trouble falling asleep, flosey? :(
didn't even try!! decided cup of tea seemed like a good idea
ah, good :)
okay, am going downstairs to enjoy caya's company for a little longer. *hugs* and may you all have a blessed day and a peaceful night. Flosey and rose, sleep well. *extra cuddle for rose*
thanks Sprite, enjoy your daughter - they grow up so fast!!! 2 sons and 2 daughters here, but all out on their own
WTG SPRITE !! wb flosey. {{caya}} hugs and kisses
dinner nearly ready. see y'all at the flip. xoxoxox
here I say, girls in Vancouver which means a quick flight or ferry ride over, boys back in Ontario so means a flight - (or train but so far no one has tried that route - takes days)
really must get to bed, good night all - 53 left for tomorrow
First quick run through and have 81 left for later...Thanks for your icon, Molly :-) Happy babbling everyone!
Good morning zzoozz
l'm out of chargee, see you later!
Good morning all. May I please have a clue for ti6-18? Thanks
Hey, zooz. How in the world are you? How are your parents?
hi Peach ti & not crazy
Thanks so much, lynxxx. Hope all is well with you and yours.
Oh, God, lynxxx, I just read your profile. I am so sorry about your loss. Lovely companion. I've lost several over the years and it still hurts. I have two "rescue" dogs now....one has diabetes and is losing sight....is on insulin every 12 hours and other meds. I am praying for you now. Blessings.
TY Peach. Our previous dog had diabetes in the last 3 years of his life - hard to manage - and in hindsight we shouldn't have held on to him at the end. We were very attached. They get under your skin don't they?
Yes, they do lynxxx. They are wonderful. I can't imagine life without them. I am older now and can't take the everywhere as I did when I was younger....but we manage anyway.
Well, it's 6:00AM here and I think I'll head to my pillow. Blessings all.
goodnight/morning Peach, sleep well
sorry to hear your news lynxx know how it feels. Leaves an enormous gap for quite a while
grannierose... i used to have severe muscle and joint pain which sould last sometimes for dags...... started using tumeric sprinkled it on everything but cereakl after a few months , i began to feel better.. it has been over a year now
i can walk better an function much better and my kids say i am not as bitchy... worth a shot
i keep shakers of it around... have to add a little black pepper to it as pepper makes it work better
SMom, I have heard good things about the healing power of tumeric. You can also make tea out of it, or add it to your favorite tea leaves.
yup
we are a sad house today... my husband
walter, passed away yesterday.. he was almost 92 and has been ill for a long time.. son walter has nursed him for 15 years..
Oh SMom, I'm so sorry. I know how you loved your Walter. My prayers are out for you and your family.
i caled my babies when walter and realised it was iminent and the all gor here within 10 minutes we were all together as he wanted and he died at home as he wanted.. we are grateful for his life and his love.. we were married for 60 years
I'm glad you were all with him and that he passed at home, where he wanted to. You were lucky to have such a good man in your life for so long.
he will be be cremated tomorrow and there will be no service or formal funeral ... however, in the early summer there will be one hukkuva blowout here in his honor and memory as per his wishes
thank you for your kind thoughts
Condolences SMom - to you and all your family.
What a beautiful way to go. You and Walter were surely blessed! God's peace and comfort to you, Sammysmom.
thank you molly and liz and all
That will be a party to remember. So many people loved your Walter.
our great grand selena , ( yes, we allowed the gra\eat grands to be involved) was stting next me at the bedside after he passed and she said .. papa is not beeping anymore she realised that the pb machine has stopped and we had turned the oxygen concentrator off and she siad i miss the sound... we all do
Good that you allowed the great grands to be there. I think the earlier kids are exposed to death, the more they come to accept it.
My parents always included us in such things. I totally agree, Molly.
Completely agree - they learn not to be afraid of it
.
we don t hide anything is this family molly.. figured our years ago that there is no point to it and the kis learn about life and loss and do ok with it
Time for bed here. Have a good day all - or at least the best you can
off to make myself presentable.... the kids and friends will be piling in about 9 later all and again, thank uyou for your kind thoughts
Afternoon all. May I have stats, please, for the A in the lower right corner?
Hi matty. I just started 10 minutes ago. I will look with you.
GM everyone here
Cheers :)
am 6/21
Hi bichon and chris. Definition, chris?
of or relating to the period in ancient Egyptian history described on cuneiform tablets
person committing sins
Hahaha.
Found it by googling the definition. New one on me - thanks!
I am laughing at the definition--I am not up on my ancient Egyptian history.
Sin one coms from the A in the last column, third row, Bich.
ty chris
it refers to the tablets and letters found at Tell El Am****
yw - I like when you ask for definitions cuz I'm always curious about what these words mean
TY, Google and Chris.
Top row grey...=)
Go Bea, go!
I did the same now, Bea. You inspired me.
ANyone have the H words?
I have one of them
hu 6 and 7
(from the bottom - I have all 5 from the top)
I have the 7 from the bottom - not the 6
I now have the 6 as well
I found the one, the hu7. I thought it was a phantom but it really is there.
I have the 6 now too.

They''re hard to catch as they're tiny and delicate.
l haave no idrea how or why they come in
How do they get in ruby?
My mother always said "Bird in the house - death in the family" Cheery, huh?
OPen the door, Ruby.
*wondering now if Ruby has birds nesting in her hair*
They often fly in during the summer when everything is open (also bzats and one timer, a large hawk) but the only thing open was a little bit of opening in the kitchen.
Hello folks
The dogs are going crazzy!
Will it get warm enough to open up the house today, ruby?
Could I please get a clue for the bottom corner A?

the 7 is like a roman numeral but different start
words relating to your upper arm bone
I must not know how to spell those bone words...
It appears I do know how to spell that bone, but I don't see it in the grid.
you need the latin plural, and a suffix meaning related to
sirena is a word it means: The most beautiful and amazing girl on earth. She can be picky ,stubborn and sometimes have an attitude. However she is still amazing . She is worth it . She is the definition of perfect.
or it's just the one that goes off before sirenb
It is really a Filipino word for mermaid.

Cathyar.... that is a very cute dog you have!
And good evening all :-)
Hello, Soodle!
I am treating myself to a random day's Annual Leave tomorrow. I've had to disable the alarm-clock on my phone... the set up another alarm to remind myself to enable the alarm for Tuesday. First World Problems :-)
However will you manage? I still use a separate alarm clock. My phone is in another room at night. I know...very old of me!
Thanks Soodle! That's our little Buster. Sadly, he is no longer with us. He had kidney failure at 10 years old.
Oh no. Sorry to hear that, Cathy. You can tell from the pic he was a great character. RIP Buster
Champ - 2/3 of my kids are living in another country. I need to be at the end of a phone or I'd crack up! I know! I'm a dope!
No...mine aren't home either. But I can hear the damn thing from another room. I'd be up all night if it were next to me. I'm a very light sleeper.
I actually slept with it next to me Friday night...tragic evening that I won't go into here...and a damn mortgage person (friend) texted me at 11:10 p.m. for an insurance contact. GAHHH!
Oh dear. Sorry to hear that, Champ. I've become deaf as a post in recent years.... maybe my parents were right about me listening to rock music on headphones at a gazillion decibels...lol. Almost 11.00 pm here. Off to bed. Goodnight Champ & all
Goodnight!
G'nite Soodle!
SMom, if you are here, I'm thinking about you and your clan.
What happened?

ty, lynx...
hope y'all don't stay mad at me :(
not mad Hannah - just older people here so you understand why we get 'short' sometimes
not mad at you, but mindless posting here is not a good idea...
Also not mad - but just looked back in chat and can understand why some people might be mad - no one likes mindless posts.
Phew! v's finally vanquished. 3 to go.
That being said - if you are trying to clear a long post then warn people first. We have a lot of trolls here occasionally so people are very wary of that. You seem a nice kid so we don't want people are thinking you are a troll.
Also there are occasions when people are just concentrating on finding words or just don't feel like chatting so the chat log can remain empty for a couple of hours.
Well said, both of you.
me 6/21 - the last one please. I keep trying meteor and I know it's not there.
very much like the magician
begins with a botched situation and ends with an indefinite article....
nope - add the start of he picnic pest
With the different last vowel? I have that one. There's another one after that
what Pen said!
That's it! Thanks and fireworks.
the one i clued is the last me 6....
congrats...
Thanks
Yay for Liz - now to find a inside project that doesn't involve much moving around ! keep cool
sorry for your loss, lynx....
Will try to do that. Gym this afternoon, so will get some exercise but will miss the beach walk!
TY Pen
Do you think you'll get another dog Lyn? Sorry if it's too soon to ask.
yw...
He was such a great dog, I applied for another greyhound the next day. Sounds cold but I knew he would die this year as they very rarely get past 13. He was 12.5 years. We have always replaced dogs quickly - a home is not complete without one.
...and who are you going to give all that love to otherwise! Plus all that unconditional love you get back
That's a great age for a greyhound. I grew up with a dog - but haven't had one as an adult. My hubby and I disagree about whether a dog should live inside or outside and I don't think we can compromise on that. We both love dogs though.
are they retired racers lynxx
I like to call them failed racers - especially when they are quite young, around 2
Hi Bugs - hope all's well with you.
I like failed racers - that's nice.
sorry i was eating dinner, im glad your not mad at me
Well don't get a greyhound if you want an outside dog
I prefer them inside!
sorry i just used improper grammar
no problem, hannah....
Have a good day /evening everyone.
bye Liz - hope the weather breaks soon
my friend has two rescue greyhounds....
bye lynx....
i am off to play at Wordsplay....bye all....
bye pen
playing UNO again, in between hands on here
FW Thanks for the help. See y'all at the flip
We've had several greyhounds, beautiful sweet tempered dogs.
Now we live in a place that doesn't allow large pets so we have two cats.
cats = love
My cat =
oops - equals self-centered need :D
The third degree burn on my right wrist left a huge scar. My black-and-tan coonhound just accidentally clawed my left wrist, leaving a giant gash. I am going to look like an inept suicidal person.
hi all. back to wrap up 75 with a list.
ouch origami
ouch is right
She's a real sweetie-pie, but I was playing with something with her that was too small and she snagged my wrist instead of the play thing. It's gonna leave a mark ;D
ouch
my cat has taken to scratching my scalp in the morning to wake me up. he's got pretty sharp claws - my wife is in charge of cutting his nails.
my cat has left marks on me, a lot of scratches, i think i even have a scar from one
but I like it better than him licking my hair
Luckily my cats just claw the blanket.
i think i would prefer the licking
Ouch ... My cat only claws me when I step over the line combing her.
i have some scars i dont even know how i got
I'm old enough to have a bunch of those :D I wear them like badges.
lol
i only know how i got a couple of the scars i have
I know the stories behind my noticeable scars.
i only know how i got 2 of at least 5 stars
make that 6
