the only thing close to a generic chicken I can find is a baseball hit outside the baseline...

12:32 am

i think perhaps the "generic chickens" is referring to something that is not in the grid, but which has a homophone in the grid?

1:41 am

howdy, folks

1:41 am

rbud!! :) hello

1:42 am

giggling my buns off about the wa 7/64 definition, I can totally work that into conversations.

1:44 am

that is, if I can find how to pronounce it...

1:44 am

of course it's Scottish. based on wa 4 that I saw in Outlander more than once.

1:47 am

I looked in a different dictionary and couldn't find it! what does it mean with the final 3 letters added? - crazy?

1:48 am

the last 3 mean "full"

1:49 am

so, a bellyful. :D

1:49 am

oops, add an L

1:49 am

ah..just found that separately... I can work a bellyfull into a conversation somewhere ROFL - of course, friends will look at me oddly ;)

1:50 am

You crack me up! :D

1:51 am

what was that word he used for armpits that cracked me up, too... was it "oxter" or something like... Scottish makes me laugh. I did have a Scot for a sister-in-law, my bro passed away, we don't talk any more, I miss her.

1:52 am

that';s the word rbud... just checked ;)

1:52 am

suppose that might show up here sometime, too, ya never know.

1:53 am

You should drop her a line... I think it's a shame that in so many families, the "in law" only lasts as long as the direct connection :(

1:56 am

My sis tried calling her last year when Mom died, she pretty much told her she was sorry to hear it, but after that she more or less said she didn't see much reason to stay in touch any more. Of course she liked me better, maybe I'd have more luck.

1:57 am

Sis can drive folks batty on the phone at times, she tends to natter.

1:59 am

Ouch, maybe dro-p her quick line first... letting her know that it's okay if she has a new person in her life, but that you really miss her... letters and e-mails can be read and ignored..but gives her a head's up.. then 2-3 weeks later give her a call at what might be a quiet time..Sunday after dinner maybe? You can take your cue from that. It may be too paingul fror her to be reminded.. or she may wish to truly cut ties..but nothign ventured, nothing gained...

2:00 am

Well, we never did talk much, but got along so well when together... might try it. And you're so right about the connection breaking, though, I get some of that from my de4 departed hubby's family nowadays.

2:01 am

WERe they married a long time? Her not resonding to the funeral of your mom is kind of telling, but you don't know what she may have been dealing with...sometimes the death of a spouse can take years to get over and contact is painful... I don't know - just spit-balling???

2:02 am

I am glad to hear that some of Easy's family are in contact.. it may help that you have a houseful, so nieves and nephews... but it can be so very hard and tricky for some.

2:02 am

Pretty long, he married her in Scotland while in the Navy, and she and her son came here with him. They had some good years, but then he got very ill and she ended up nursing him along for years.

2:03 am

Takes a lot out of you, I know that personally.

2:03 am

Oh dear... do you know if she may be struggling otherwise in general life? Years of not owning your own life can take quite a toll.

2:04 am

Is she far away?

2:04 am

First time I met her in person, he was in the hospital, and she'd not yet gotten her driver's license in America. She met us on the front stoop, handed me the keys to their van, and said, "hurry, let's go and get me hoosband" - loved her accent!

2:05 am

<3 <3 <3

2:06 am

Not sure if she's in the country all the time any more, she goes home to visit a lot. Showed us a pic of her family home over there, was basically a small castle/ manse on a small mountainside, amazing.

2:07 am

So you were quite late into her life with your brother... makes it harder... drop her a nice card aying you miss her and liked that you always got on..see where it goes after a call.

2:07 am

But she comes back because of her son, he's all Americanized. He used to translate for me, haha, sometimes I simply could not make out some stuff she'd say, it would frustrate her, she'd go get him, lol.

2:08 am

So, she's not likely hurting for money - or at least a lacve to live if needed...that's something. so many struggle after a spouse passes... :(

2:09 am

Yep. Maybe I will give it a shot, she's still at their same house when she's here.

2:09 am

:D I love that... Sounds like she misses the Auld Sod and will return one day. She's only here to get her son properly set?

2:10 am

Well - nothing ventured.... as long as yu wouldn't take it personally if she politely dissuades you...

2:11 am

oh, he was about 6 when they married, he's maybe 30+ now, he's settled. Doesn't want to move back to Scotland.

2:11 am

Hello Kate, hello Babblers.

2:12 am

{{{((( ELEGANT )))}}} Hello hello hello... I just missed you yesterday... I said hello and popped off.. you answered not a minute later.. os very sorry...

2:12 am

Elegant! I haven't seen you for years!

2:12 am

hiya, Elegant, not sure we've "talked", nice to "meet" you.

2:13 am

Kill the fatted calf! Elegant hath come to visit :)

2:14 am

lol I figured you'd got to do something, no worries. I think we have Rbud but a long time ago,. Hi, Nef, yeah it's been a long time.

2:15 am

gone*

2:18 am

leaving? was about to ask about your icon pic, nice spot.

2:18 am

Who's leaving?

2:19 am

oh, an edit, aha... in that case, where was the pic taken?

2:19 am

...gone to do something... typo

2:19 am

(it was the "gone" that threw me, haha)

2:21 am

speaking of leaving.. AI also just missed crossy today. someone greeted him, but he had poofed just before. Please say hello for me when you get a chance!

2:22 am

And me too!

2:22 am

It is a lovely picture Elegant <3 I am loathe to ask if you are up late or early...

2:23 am

I have to say goodnight; I'm up too late & losing it now. So though I'd like to chat, Good Night & hapy Babbleding!

2:23 am

Oh, sorry, I was correcting a typo...The pic was taken on a cruise Crossy and I took.

2:25 am

I'm not awake yet. I get up with Crossy to have a tea with him.

2:25 am

Beautiful colours - was this on the Trent-Severn?

2:25 am

LOL..More tea for Elegant!

2:26 am

(what was it Dorothy said in the Wizard of Oz - "my, people come and go so quickly here!" Ya just never know sometimes, thought for a sec that "gone" might have been another version of "poof".)

2:27 am

but I'm all better now. ;)

2:28 am

LOL, true on both counts - I have made htat same quote here a few times... things happen and people poof all the time...

2:29 am

The breeze here has come up and is noticeably cooler... ah, sweet relief... you got rain and storms, didn't you? (nothing here...)

2:29 am

Aboard the Segwun in Muskoka.

2:32 am

I highly recommend taking a sunset tour if in the area, breathtaking scenery and the people who have cottages/houses on the route are so friendly.

2:32 am

Such pretty country up there... too bad it's littered with tourists and citiots... ;)

2:34 am

Yes we got thunderstorms here and lots of rain. I loved the thunder, the louder the better. It's a bit cooler here, the breeze is refreshing.

2:36 am

We did hear thunder - from across the lake; it's likely Scrabs saw some action. I have a friend near NOrth Bay that posted.. I guess they got a wild ride for a while with the weather... I am glad that the temperature has dropped. Need a good night's sleep desperately. Just waiting for the apartment to cool down now :)

2:40 am

The rainfall was massive for a bit, it was coming down in sheets sideways. We got quite a few storm fronts back to back. We needed it though.

2:41 am

WE could use some of that here. I though maybe this evening, but nothing... hopefully tomorrow. At least it's cooler, so I can go out and water.

2:43 am

Belated niters to Nef! I am doing too many things at once here...

2:46 am

We'll send some down for you kate. A breeze is blowing though the windows right now airing out the apartment and cooling it down.

2:46 am

seriously? ma 5/12 is a word? "yessa, ma5, right away, suh!" I'm shocked.

2:47 am

Thank you very much!

2:48 am

only jokingly tried it, haha

2:48 am

Yes rbud... dictionaries aren't "politically correct" The N word is also taken... as are any other nasty words :(

2:50 am

trying to recall whether that stuff is covered in Jillibus's excellent quote about whoever compiled enable, she covered most everything, so funny.

2:50 am

I tried out on a whim too..because it was so slangy, I didn't think it would take.

2:51 am

Good morning, my Babble friends. :)

2:51 am

I saw the word tw-t in the grid yesterday, wasn't a word though. Thought I'd throw that out there for no reason...

2:51 am

Hello Sweetheart.

2:51 am

Morning, my beloved. :)

2:52 am

Howdy, Kate. :)

2:52 am

crossy! lovely to see ya! :)

2:52 am

C-R-O-S-S-Y !!!!!!!

2:53 am

He'll be back in a sec, he\s making toast.

2:53 am

Howdy Rbud :)

2:53 am

There are lots of naughty words in grids.. the key being that they are real words, if distasteful... but MA5? I looked in 2 other dictionaries ans it wasn't there...

2:53 am

I thought I'd read that crossy said he has to get up very early, guess it's so.

2:54 am

Yup. Sadly I must get up at 3 A.M these days :(

2:55 am

so you're on grid time like I am.

2:55 am

:)

2:55 am

Geez, with hours like that, you might as well work for the railway crossy.... on duty 0300.. PFFFFT :(

2:56 am

it is not so bad, once you get used to it. The secret is to have a one hour power nap when you get home at 1 P.M

2:56 am

I would love to play with trains :)

2:57 am

I liked early starts in the summer, but found it much worse in winter... so many hours of woeking in the dark at the start of the day... brutal!

2:58 am

oh god, there would be mass destruction if that happened. or you'd find the engine in pieces because he wanted to know how it operated.

2:58 am

They were hiring crossy.. sorry, I didn't even think of you.. closest for you would be Capreol and NOrth Bay (HOrne Payne is out of the question...)

2:59 am

LOL Elegant..... he might make a good mechanic then. At least they have staight shifts with regular schedules...

3:00 am

I have no idea if they are hiring in the shop though... I do know the were hiring for the running trades... with a nice hiring bonus

3:00 am

Na, want to be in the "peak seat" taking a run through the mountains while listening to Arlo Guthrie singing "City of New Orleans. " :)

3:00 am

Pretty sure CP too... and they have lines up there, though not sure of where the "home terminals" are.

3:01 am

He is treated very well at his current job, he likes to complain but he enjoys it and it keeps him out of my hair.

3:01 am

Hahaha..Well, I could teach you to drive them but they took away our music crossy... no tunes allowed :(

3:02 am

Yes... I am NOT advocating for the railways.. especially not now. No NO NO !!!

3:03 am

and that goes DOUBLE for your son....

3:03 am

I am getting "up there" now anyways. Counting down the last few years till early retirement and spending my days with my beloved.

3:04 am

my dad retired from the Rock Island Line, I'm a train buff, and somehow always end up living by tracks. Music to my ears. Except for the occasional long braking screeeeech...

3:04 am

<3 <3 That's the spirit crossy! There's more to life than money... you can't buy time 0- as you well know!

3:05 am

Haha.. poor rbud... I remember you saying the tracks were at the end of your cul-de-sac and they separated you form "the town" ;)

3:06 am

I'd love to move further up north and just chill on a small lake somewhere with Crossy, kitty and puppy.

3:06 am

partly why I hang out with Kate on FB, she posts train stuff, lol

3:07 am

THAT sounds wonderful Elegant!

3:07 am

I also ran the local Amtrak station for over five ye5, it was kinda cool.

3:07 am

ROFL... should I be hurt that you only like me for my trains? <snort>

3:07 am

Most of the branch tracks have been pulled up here--with the exception of a "private" rail line that is used by the distillery and the ethanol plant

3:08 am

nah, I lean in your political direction, too, you get wound up and stir things up. ;)

3:09 am

Ya.. there are getting taken up everywhere crossy... not that there isn't enough business to keep them ciable... it's all about how to make the very most money with the least men and machinery..so the less PROFITABLE get tossed...

3:10 am

There are tracks right here in my side yard, active for a while at least twice a day. We live by a switch, so back and forth, back and forth. Stacking cars.

3:11 am

LOL rbud... I have lost a few friends and some followers because I have gone on posting rampages... everyone is so sick of their waslls being flooded with politics... and two years ago you couldn't find a political post on my walls... go figure!

3:12 am

and they seem so shocked that you're not even American, why DO you go on so, I see them saying... but I get it.

3:13 am

LOL... no one has ever actially said that to me rbud!!! If they did ask though, I'd be glad to tell them.

3:14 am

oh, but they're THINKING it, maybe I'm reading between the lines. :D

3:14 am

rbd.. if your friends question, tell them I'm a Crazy Canick and half my family's Americam...

3:14 am

and then tell tehm we are all concerned...

3:16 am

We care what happens to our neighbours.

3:17 am

..and it DOES affect us--just ask us about the nice new tariffs...

3:17 am

have been wondering if I should invite to our little page, all ladies, some from England, some from all over the U.S. - we're pretty indignant about politics and go there to vent. The gal who started it named it "A Safe Place" after all the BS about "snowflakes" needing a safe place, etc... the Brit ladies are every bit as disturbed about us as you.

3:17 am

and it's not just us - the whole world cares... we are all invested in this, like it or not.

3:18 am

they post news and stuff more than we do. We have a great time. (it's on FB, forgot to mention...) You'd likely fit right in.

3:19 am

All of Europe is pretty much up on arms over this.. they are way more evo-conscious than us wasteful North Americans.. all about no GMO, and environment is above profit...

3:19 am

Just a bunch of steamed up old ladies I've met over the years playing various games.

3:19 am

Is this a ladies only group? Thinking crossy might be interested too... and of course, Elegant!

3:20 am

and even though they are not our National parks, I am saddened that the current regime wants to open them up for logging and mining exploitation.

3:20 am

Never screw with a steamed up old lady... they will be running the world in 20 years if this keeps up...

3:21 am

Remember Hetch Hetchy!

3:22 am

And that is a shame because those parks are so precious, and beautiful. I thinks something to preserve not mow down.

3:22 am

oh, we had a fellow or two over the last year, but they don't seem to stick around. I'm an admin, so hey... :D

3:23 am

So mich of this does affect us.. look at all the protection knoecked down in EPA and protection of the Gr4eat Lakes is in peril.... bloody walking catfish and those flying (gobis???) pfft! I had the idea that it was a world heitage site... and should be eligible for internastional protection from rampant US poisoning... we have worked so hard to briong back the lakes... this cam't happen. It just can't.

3:24 am

I don't like parks or their ioning right being sold to the highest bidder... the one lately was actually a Canadian company...small cap, but still...

3:24 am

I got into a little fuss with some gal on one of Seain's posts today, she insisted priorities should be with the poor, the homeless, the babies, etc, and the heck with a bunch of dirt and rocks. I suggested we could take care of both... and it ticked her off.

3:25 am

rbud... sounds like a parrot to me... I do agree, but saving water for all comes before any individual

3:26 am

oh, mining and drilling the Grand Canyon is currently breaking my heart.

3:26 am

:(

3:26 am

mining and drilling in the grand canyon???

3:27 am

Well, when Yosemite blows, we won't have to worry about that for a while... :(

3:27 am

HI rolin :)

3:28 am

yes, he's doing away with protections for many National Monument sites. They're already shrinking.

3:28 am

It's sad that there is a price tag on everything and they want to sell or destroy it.

3:28 am

As we "progress" more and more as humans, national and provincial parks become infinitely more important in our lives. These treasured places speak to us on a level that nothing else can. These parks are larger than ourselves, and humbling in their sheer majesty, reminding us that there are better places in this world for us to set our souls free to roam and to imagine.

3:28 am

Hi Kate... really mining and drilling in the grand canyon ... who is doing that,,,and what for?

3:29 am

I must head to work now, I I will wish all you ladies a good day.

3:30 am

rbud may know... there is a new mining thing being leased in the (little bear??? damn, sorry - very tired.. the park they just down sized by half...) any way... a small cap mining firm from canada got that prize.

3:30 am

hugs to you, crossy, carry on - another day closer to retirement dreams. :)

3:31 am

Bye crossy, HAGD and a good nap at 1 :) Nioce to see yu again here :)

3:31 am

3:34 am

3:35 am

oh no.... I will look in a few minutes. thank you for fetching up the link rolin

3:39 am

Uranium mining regulations - Obama put a moratorium on mining in the area, now they're trying to lift that. He's after any and all regulations that slow down his chosen favorite energy producers.

3:40 am

There is a great map tht really brings it all home... you can see the parks, waterways...everything. Terrible :(

3:40 am

I'd rather nuclear than coal.... that is all ;)

3:41 am

I read that now he's putting a halt to research efforts that would determine the environmental effects, and the effects on the nearby Navajo Nation.

3:41 am

Pretty much trying to stomp all science and research, another nightmare.

3:41 am

well, so many nightmares...

3:42 am

He's shut down a lot of research..and shelved results form new studies.. unconscionable :( I can't get all worked up or I won't sleep..and it's finally getting cooler in here...

3:42 am

Have we lost Elegant too?

3:43 am

No, i'm here

3:43 am

YAY! :)

3:44 am

Does anyone need a clue now? wanted to pop into sudoku for a minute - I am now 3 days behind, buit that will have to wait untiil I wake up alter...

3:45 am

I honestly can't understand how he could destroy these parks without a thought of the consequences to the environment and the people living in the area.

3:47 am

the folks in charge of the land say he's doing it "just because he can" even though uranium mining in the U. S. is incredibly unprofitable.

3:48 am

OMG.... ROFL - just saw your Snoopy dog house cartoon... :D

3:49 am

Uranium is like 45 bucks a pound... it's been years since it was 100-135.!!!!

3:50 am

poor Snoopy... I'm fond of him partly because he was a major favorite of my brother's - poor Linda (the Scottish wife) used to roll her eyes about the silly wee doggie, lol

3:51 am

I'm off folks, have a wonderful day HUGS.

3:52 am

So long, Elegant, hugs back to you. :)

3:55 am

There's just so much going on with environmental things, I hardly have time to worry about all the rest, and yet I feel I have to. We might get nuked by N. Korea, or Russia... it's just endless. Guns, babies in jail, oil pipelines, national parks, women's rights, oh, Lord, I just hope we all survive to see a better day. So much evil, nothing nice or humane left unmolested.

3:56 am

I need choclits! :D

3:57 am

3:57 am

Good bye Elegant, have a wonderful day. THANK YOU FOR STPPING BY TO CHAT WITH US !!!

4:07 am

rbud..agreed, and there is so much to say. See you on FB later today hopefully.... I have neglected FB the last several days. (and sudoku.. *sigh*) I can't get all hetted up over all this if I plan on getting any decent sleep...

Hi kids.

7:51 am

morning all

7:52 am

still in here scrabs?

7:54 am

Hi! I am checking emails and FB too.

7:54 am

Enjoying summer vacation?

7:54 am

hi! i'm just starting the grid before i have to start cleaning house

7:54 am

yep, very much

7:56 am

I saw a just-finished kindergartner yesterday, in the office, and talked about reading, spelling, and math practice every day in the summer. She gave me a teenage headcock and eye roll, "Uh, I am on BREAK!"

7:56 am

LOL good for her!

7:58 am

I talk to kids and parents about preventing brain drain over the 10 weeks of summer vacation.

7:59 am

my advice to them over the summer is to keep reading to them or have them read to you as much as possible, and then to make any learning fun and a part of whatever play you're doing!

7:59 am

Yes.

7:59 am

I was a mean mum and homeschooled during the summer break

7:59 am

sneak it in, so miss eyeroll doesn't even realize she's learning ;)

8:00 am

Literacy and math through play.

8:00 am

our local library runs summer "fun" classes (I just taught a LEGO class there) and it gets the kids into the library to maybe check out some books

8:00 am

Good, carlee.

8:00 am

Nice, wv.

8:01 am

swimming lessons, then themed lessons... ( we even made a solar oven and cooked dad dinner - and there was a solar eclipse so we made avariety of viewers)...lunch then free time

8:01 am

it's funny, i'm totally the opposite. i don't do anything at all formal with the boys, but we read read read, and talk a lot about stuff we see and do. we did just go on a huge book run yesterday, stopping at two different libraries and one bookstore to stock up!

8:02 am

they are going to a really cool thing in a few weeks called "College for Kids". It's run by our local university, and they take 4 different classes through the day. Day camp for a week.

8:02 am

That your boys are readers is huge, Featherbee.

8:02 am

we would make jam together ( fractions )... Feather my son has ALWAYS hated reading. he is 2 and still he hates reading...

8:02 am

26* even SHEESH

8:02 am

That is a great camp, FB

8:03 am

that sounds fun feather

8:03 am

Daniel is taking clay sculpting, soap making, DIY art, and sugar sugar, a cooking class. Nick is taking a Roblox coding class for the two morning sessions, then clay sculpting and some other type of craft class.

8:04 am

I want to go.

8:04 am

lol

8:04 am

me too! soup making is fun...

8:04 am

i actually had to convince Daniel to try it out the first time. once he started, he was hooked.

8:04 am

soap.. my god I need coffee

8:04 am

I fill out so many camp forms for kids and I want to go.

8:05 am

this is the first year they both are in the same week at the same time. it's split by age groups, and i used to have to shuttle one or the other of them for two weeks.

8:06 am

Momma gets a week of reading day camp

8:06 am

Folks 62 or older can take classes for free at SUNY @ Buffalo. I will have a tough time making choices.

8:06 am

doug accidentally took that week off from work. so we can't really go anywhere, and he'll now be underfoot. i told him he needs to find projects and stay out of my hair, because i have house plans!!!

8:07 am

An accidental vacation?

8:07 am

he has to pick weeks in january. so he picked a random week in july. just happened to be the week college for kids happens. so no family trips.

8:07 am

LOL sounds suspicious to me...

8:08 am

lots of quality date lunches feather ;)

8:08 am

they have to plan out the entire year of vacations, going by seniority. that's how he got screwed out of coming to the cape with us this year. two guys more senior ended up taking that week due to their kids graduating and wanting to go see family.

8:11 am

Oh, I see now.

8:13 am

sley is so a word. when you're weaving, you sley the reed, meaning put the threads through the reed.

8:14 am

Hm.

8:15 am

reed is the comb like thing that you use to push the line of thread against what you've already woven. there, you all know a new thing. :)

8:15 am

A new lingo.

8:15 am

huge amout of new vocabulary in weaving.

8:16 am

oh, the ra6/24 is also a weaving term!

8:16 am

it's a kind of comb like thing you use to keep threads in order as you sley the reed.

8:17 am

8:31 am

When are you going on your trip Scrabs?

8:32 am

Tomorrow. Today I need to pack, get the kayak on the car, and get 2 bikes on too. And prep the bunnies for my bunny sitter.

8:34 am

<--- dares to ask what prepping the bunnies entails :D

8:36 am

Haha. I do tell them that I will be gone. Remy stopped eating his salads when I was gone a few weeks ago. He missed me.

8:36 am

I have to clean litter boxes, vacuum their rooms...

8:38 am

Do you have male bunnies neutered?

8:39 am

Yes, and females need to be spayed to avoid uterine cancer.

8:42 am

When I had my first bunny, the vet didn't bring it up. And the male went nuts!

8:43 am

I have raised 13 bunnies since 1983 and I skipped the procedure on one male as he was so calm.

8:47 am

60 left and I am done. Maybe I will return tonight.

8:48 am

Good morning, all.

9:13 am

Sure... blame it on the dog.

9:14 am

HEH if you knew Alice, you woud understand my suspicions ...

9:16 am

I hear you. We had evidence of one of the cats counter surfing last night. I put tin foil on the counters this a.m. My husband thought I'd gone round the bend.

9:16 am

I've heard that cats hate tin foil. We'll see.

9:17 am

Alice is such a character I made an instagram account for her. She has almost more followers now than I do LOL

My niece fostered a mom beagle and her puppy while attending school. He was the only one in the litter and the mom wasn't very good at taking care of him. Anyway, my niece adopted the puppy, Bert, and have just heard she is putting him in 5 day school to break his biting habit. He is a little cutie.

9:34 am

awww sweet muse

mymuse - I didn't even know there was such a thing - cool.

9:35 am

how old is Bert? Alice still bites a bit and she is 10 months now? she play bites... more like mouths now. almost have her broken of the habit

9:36 am

I think 3 or 4 months old now. I understand Bert has no fear, doesn't back down from anything or anyone, and my s-i-l's dog and puppy not getting along.

10:20 am

made nbt by the skin of my teeth, whew!

10:20 am

Dear god I just read that trump is meeting with the queen during his visit to London next week...

10:21 am

I am not sure that whole visit is happening, Carlee.....I think he is too afraid of the protests he will meet

10:21 am

the baby trump balloon somebody made IS great though

10:22 am

they have moved all of the meetings outside of london.. meeting the queen in hollyrood

10:22 am

lol--decorum is not his strong suit.

10:22 am

why bother?

10:22 am

i do hope she put him in his place the way only a brit can do

10:22 am

puts* even

10:23 am

he doesn't listen to women anyway, so

10:23 am

it'll be over his head, he doesn't understand anyone "below the surface"

10:23 am

the body languagewill be brill

10:24 am

Forgive me for not knowing, but is she obligated to meet with him? Can she, in fact, turn down the request, or must she meet with any head of state who asks?

10:26 am

It would just be toooooo delicious - he asks to meet, and she declines - "no thanks, I'm good."

10:26 am

I am not sure Trifs...she is politically neutral

I think she must meet anyone she is asked to meet by her Prime Minister (and May is a rousing idiot, too).

10:27 am

"i'm washing my hair that day ..."

10:27 am

eyeroll - Can't you just hear it? "That Queen is a fabulous broad!"

10:28 am

he wont be able to remember the protocol for meeting the queen

What a good idea Perhaps she will delegate the meeting down to one of her lesser relatives one that Trump can't even recognise!

10:28 am

he is a global embarrassment.

10:28 am

I don't think he'd even take it in Carlee.

10:28 am

is princess Michael busy that day?

10:28 am

well, she is a woman so just grab her by the *** and ***

10:29 am

oh GROSS

OR how does he discover that she has guards!

10:29 am

he made fun of the "me too" movement yesterday - made some joke about how he would throw something "carefully" at Elizabeth Warren, "because you have to be careful with women these days...."

10:29 am

my regards to mrs. trump

10:30 am

seriously, what is wrong with ivanka and melania? are they that brainwashed?

10:30 am

a DNA kit trifs... to prove she is 'Indian'

10:30 am

yes, I know, Carlee. he is just so awful.

10:30 am

they are afraid shirl

10:31 am

I notice Ivanka hasn't publicly said a WORD since the whole "kids in cages" thing got going.

10:31 am

Ivanka is afraind? She doesn't look it

10:31 am

she hasnt said a word since things started closing in tighter on jared

10:31 am

she's too interested in making $, her brands have been sanctiioned in china tho maybe not so much now

10:32 am

and today the AP reports the US armed forces has begun quietly discharging - FOR NO REASON -- immigrants who enlisted. Because now even serving for, and being willing to fight and die for, this country isn't good enough

10:32 am

withthe Chinese tariffs on US goods, I dont think she will make as much $ as she had hoped

10:33 am

hear the bit about the army thing this AM -- it is ridiculous

10:33 am

Well heck Trifs.. US NAvy is now boarding Canadian fishing ships in canadian waters off coast of newfoundland

10:33 am

esp when they don't have enough "americans" willing to serve

Maybe this is why they're pulling them out of Europe!

10:34 am

fully armed... bc they are "concerned about illegals" well heck if they are illegals on a canadian fishing vessel... in canadian waters... that is canada's problem, not USA's

10:35 am

huge waste of money and resources

10:35 am

and who will pay for all this?

10:35 am

good morning all

10:35 am

could you imagine if Canada navy venturedinto US waters and boarded, fully armed US fishing vessels off the coast of Maine?

10:37 am

Interesting chat --- maybe the Scots will give Trump a run for his money while he is in Edinburgh -- they certainly will if he tries to claim he is one of them! There is only one "the Donald" there and he is clan chief of the MacDonalds

10:37 am

heh Nan...that would be funny

10:47 am

10:50 am

he does seem to make a habit of being in Florida when any protests are going on in DC or NYC

10:50 am

I think he will be conflicted - he can't look away from anything having to do with him....

4:10 pm

Hello zooz and jane :)

4:10 pm

Hello zooz and jane :)

4:11 pm

Hello, TK :-)

4:12 pm

Another scourcher here today. Close to 30c again...Loving it!

4:13 pm

I am so very happy for you zooz... have you taken off your jumper yet? :)

4:13 pm

Nope not yet getting close though lol And I still have a t-shirt on underneath that too!

4:13 pm

It is a different jumper not the same one lol

4:15 pm

Are you able to sleep at night, TK, with all this heat?

4:15 pm

We had a cold fromt move in last night! It got down to the high 60s, and now it is 24. First good sleep in a week!

4:15 pm

Wow that is a big drop!

4:17 pm

It was.. and a much needed respite. Just checked the weather... we will be bumping up against 30 for the next 2 weekd... hopefully with lower overnight temps - not sure. This is summer, though a bit warmish for this time of year.

4:17 pm

Glad it was a relief for you though.

4:17 pm

There were a lot of rainstorms - some quite wild, but we didn't get a drop of it. I must go out to water

4:18 pm

Yep I can not complain about this years Summer. Very nice indeed/

4:18 pm

It was such a relief...yes!

4:18 pm

We have not had any rain fall here for a couple of weeks either which makes a change lol.

4:19 pm

Trying not to grouse too much, after last year's nin-appearance of summer, this is welcome...even if it is a tad excessive ;)

4:20 pm

You don't really have any fireworks at this time of year do you? More of a New Year and Guy Fawkes thing? do they do fireworks for the Queen's birthday?

4:20 pm

I find it is not so much how hot it is that saps the energy levels it is the high humidity that goes with it.

4:21 pm

Yes, to the complete lack of get up and go... I was just sitting a couple nights ago, and jsut moved a little bit - instant buckets pouring off me... ugh! Most unladylike and undignified ;)

4:21 pm

In general most people do not have fireworks for the queens bithday. Like you say New Years and Guy Fawkes is pretty much standard.

4:22 pm

Why are you getting fireworks going off where you are then?

4:22 pm

I have done nothing here for a week... nothing.

4:24 pm

If it is too hot to do anything then that is how it is, TK. Unless you need something in an emergency if that is the case do you not have any family or friends who could help you out?

4:24 pm

I do remember the fantastic display at millennium, the barges in the Thames gave a wonderful show. I saw them from Parliament Square.

4:25 pm

Yes I saw them on the TV. They were rather spectacular even if I am not a big fan of fireworks. i find they scare too many animals but that is just me being a grumpy old git lol

4:27 pm

I am fine zooz, I try to stay stocked up on things in case I can't or won't go out. I did eat a lot of cheese, crackers pepperoni sticks and store-bought potato salad though. It was too hot to cook! Then I mad a huge supplu of basmatti rice in the microwave and did a big stir fry... then just heated that up for days... thank goodness I like leftovers ;)

4:29 pm

Have always known that some critters don't do well with the loud noises, but it has really only become a more public issue lately. I did read somewhere that soundless displays are now available, not sure where they are made. I think that would be the way to go. I'm not a fan of the idiots that shoot them off at 3 AM...grrr

4:30 pm

Glad you are doing well, TK :-) Just make sure you heat the rice really well that is a good way to get food poisoning. Sorry to sound like i am preaching. But you know.

Hello again everyone :)

4:31 pm

Didn't know that rice was a big carrier zooz! I do heat very well..and it is all kept in the fridge lol... haveing cooked ahead was a big help, especially now. I do not enjoy a bowl of cereal for mu dinner ;)

4:32 pm

Hello, HelenKeller :-)

4:33 pm

helen!!! ** bounce, bounce, bounce, pouince**

4:33 pm

Yeah it is, TK, Many people get caught out by that.

4:33 pm

I will try to remember HK... whenever I see it i wonder if it is a really bad typo for TK...

4:34 pm

and now I know zooz, ty. Will be extra vigillant, though I seem to have a cast iron stomach ;)

Hey TK, zoom

4:34 pm

Oh - I did finally get my butter chicken weeks ago.. yummy!

4:35 pm

Are you finished HK? Do we need to call carlee for a POMPOMTOSS?

Hah! I have 57 to go - no pom poms yet. Something to inspire me.

I trolled through the chat for clues & saw one for wa7, but I do not know the French word for crazy - feel I've tried every combo.

4:37 pm

I should check to see how well the PB is stocked...

4:38 pm

a move in sportls that will draw a penalty is a ***L

Did I 'say' something?

4:38 pm

***L ball in baseball?

Okay TK, I didn't try that one - thx!

4:39 pm

No no HK, you didn't say anything that I noticed, but in the heat, players need sustenance...I have purposely said something just to get at the goodies ;)

4:39 pm

There is a WA 7 that means a belly full of food.

4:40 pm

:D I like that word!

Hmmm, belly of food? Processing . . . processing . . .

4:41 pm

that is the WA 7 HK

*facepalm*

4:41 pm

bellyfull as in fed up - either way you want to take it :)

4:42 pm

There is another WA 7 that is a PT

4:43 pm

and so there is! Everyone has been commenting at the one WA7, that the other has been disregarded

Now I'm getting a headache & will focus on finding my 22 missing 4 letter words, thank you very much.

4:44 pm

dive in!

4:44 pm

if you see jane, send her up for a breath of air!

Will do :)

4:52 pm

Today's sudoku was very pleasant, and it was a Dreaded Meduim!

4:53 pm

Ah not got there yet. will be off in a minute to give it a try!

4:53 pm

I am days behind now...at least four to finish.

4:54 pm

I did a few archives yesterday for the first time in about a week!

4:55 pm

Hi all. I'm here to find my final 33 words. So... there are 2 wa7s? hmmm...

4:56 pm

Energetic of you... iy's been a while for me, I do get bored with them after a while.

4:56 pm

{{((Jacula!!!))}} Hello poppet <3

4:56 pm

Hello, Jacula :-)

4:56 pm

Hi Kate.

4:56 pm

Hi zoozz.

4:57 pm

You must be quite warm as well there Jacula?

heya {{{Jacs}}} and bye & bye everyone else

4:58 pm

TTFN HK :)

4:58 pm

VERY warm, Kate! We had a few drops of rain earlier, but it came to nothing.

4:58 pm

Hi HK.

4:58 pm

Toodle pips, Helen!

4:58 pm

...and 'bye, HK. *waves*

4:58 pm

No rain here. Just hours and hours of sunshine!

4:59 pm

It was just one small cloud that needed a little wee I think, zoozz.

4:59 pm

LOL

5:00 pm

Although we have not had rain for about two weeks now I fear when it does get here we are in for a deluge!

5:01 pm

I think the same, zoozz. Massive storm, dry ground, flooding. A nice gentle downpour overnight would be much better.

5:02 pm

LOL at Jackers' cloud :) What is needed is a steady, gentle rain that lasts all night so it all gets absorbed.

5:02 pm

:D

5:02 pm

gardener's brains....

5:04 pm

6PM and we just nudged up one degree to 25!

5:04 pm

Did you find the two WA 7s, Jacula. I could try and give you a hint if you need.

5:05 pm

I've got them thanks, Kate. x I knew the one work but the other was new to me.

5:05 pm

Good going!

5:06 pm

Kate - took another photo of my Borage today with flowers turning to pink. Will put it up on FB later or tomorrow.

5:07 pm

TY Jacula, I do love them so. Not easy to find here. I lost my seed stash in a move years ago.

5:07 pm

Star flowers are beautiful.

5:09 pm

They are!

5:10 pm

Apparently if you plant them in with your strawberries they will yeild even more fruit!

5:10 pm

I have an unreasonable hatred for hosta though... no idea why, other than they seem to be the "go-go" plant for shady areas in southern Ontario.

5:11 pm

Yield*

5:11 pm

ummm, go-to*

5:11 pm

haha :D

5:12 pm

WE are the best at typos, You and I, TK :-)

5:12 pm

how about yeald? that's in the grid, though not a word ;)

5:12 pm

RO)FL zooz!

5:14 pm

I can't grow hostas - too many slugs and snails in the garden and they love 'em.

5:14 pm

Okay it is 11:14pm so I had better go to the sudoku site to see if I can complete the medium puzzle.

5:14 pm

They are snail bait, for sure. Have the same slug/snail problem here.. saucers of beer do help a lot though!

5:15 pm

Talke care, TK. Nice to see you, Jacula! Happy babbling everyone!

5:15 pm

'Bye zoozz. Nice to see you.

5:15 pm

Bye zooz! You will enjoy the puzzle. I found the middle right box was a huge "in" and ecerything flowed with a few greens (because I'm bone-idle)

5:17 pm

Trouble with beer traps is that you have to find somewhere to dispose of all the bodies. Not much fun when you collect over 300 slugs a night!

5:19 pm

but in the end there will be no more... but yes, disguting slug corpses are not pleasant. I use an old coffee tin with platic lid.. then jsut toss the can, though I don't think just tipping it back into the garden would hurt...toss some soil over them?

5:20 pm

Not the amount I get!

5:21 pm

Can't believe I've only just found the cat sound 'm' words!

5:21 pm

I was going out slug hunting at dusk last year... got kabillions too... it's like a never-ending parade. When do they find the time to eat with all the slug orgies that must be going on nightly?

5:22 pm

there are two kitty sounds... sorry :(

5:23 pm

I found some very obvious and easy words very late in the grid - with Lickety's help :/

5:23 pm

Haven't listed... yet. 3 words to go.

5:24 pm

Go, go Jacula!!! You don't need no stinkin' list ;)

5:25 pm

FIREWORKS! *~*~*~*~*

5:26 pm

Oh, I do need the list sometimes. It can be very handy. Not on this occasion, though.

5:26 pm

Congratulations Jacula!!!!! Shall I call carlee for the official POMPOM TOSS?

5:26 pm

Yep! LOL

5:26 pm

and what is next in your busy day?

5:27 pm

No 'choclit' though, it's not nice in this hot weather. Melts all over your fingers.

5:28 pm

Melty choclit is better than no choclit..and I won't tell if you lick your fingers ;)

5:28 pm

*~*~*POMPOM TWISTY TWIRL*~*~*for jacs!

5:28 pm

The cabana boys could fix you a tall cool drink!

5:28 pm

and there she is! Hi carlee :)

5:29 pm

Next? I have a menu to finish and a shopping list to write out neatly (so Paul can read it). He wants to do the shopping really early tomorrow (before I'm up) so he's sure to be home in time to be in front of the telly for the England match (World Cup) at 3pm. lol

5:29 pm

Thank you, carlee! x

5:29 pm

5:39 pm

LOL come on up MagMom

Kate knows my husband does metal art and welding for a living. Steel has gone up so much it's becoming cost prohibitive to buy it. Sigh.

5:40 pm

Yes.. we've been working on expanding uS trade ties for a while.. finally seeing some good results. This spat will further our cause and fill our coffers... can't wait for the Commonwealth deal to start giving results!

Carlee- how did the candida cleanse go? I've been reading up on it and may have to try it.

5:42 pm

Many have commented on steel...and it will affect auto prices soon.. it's really not good. I am truly sorry mag. Other friends of mine have commented how much it has hurt them directly. One Babbler mentioned she wanted a new steel roof this year, but prices went up too much and she can't afford it now. :(

5:43 pm

(I meant expanding trade beyond US)

Yes. he's had people cancel jobs because the price went up.

5:43 pm

oh I am just starting week 2.. is 6-8 weeks... but I FEEL so good overall. Yes the diet is restrictive and you need to get creative, but i canhonestly say I am not hungry. My sleep has improved, I no onger have a foggy brain... and energy in general has improved

5:44 pm

Mag, do you ever post pics of his work? I would love to see some.

That's awesome! I've definitely got to read up more on this, Carlee.

5:44 pm

I am not doing this to lose weight at all.. ( I need to but that was not why I decided to do this)

Kate- lots of pictures here. https://www.facebook.com/Lean2Welding/

5:46 pm

Be back in a bit. Got to put towels into wash. Kid 2 is going to a tech camp and staying in a dorm and I have to provide everything. Ugh.

Hello Elegant, so nice to see you again! I wanted to ask, would it help any if we wrote in caps for you?

5:57 pm

Hello Carlee, waves.

5:58 pm

You'd have laughed if you'd seen me when I went off to do my menu etc. There was a really annoying fly buzzing and dive-bombing me. I got a Wimbledon-style workout leaping around the kitchen with the tennis racquet shaped electronic fly zapper. Got the b*ggar after about 10 mins of dashing around the room.

5:58 pm

Hello Kate, not really, I can enlarge the screen if I need but thanks for thinking of me.

6:00 pm

hi all. i have only one 7. would love some other stats and clues. i have sw 7 52. any others out there? ty.

YW MKG

6:12 pm

:)

6:13 pm

what else would you like? Seems like lots here to lob clues at you...

6:14 pm

wa7/64 is a Scottish word meaning 'bellyful'. It sometimes ends with 'ul' rather than the two vowels this variant does.

6:14 pm

Lots of the "senior" Babblers in the chog today. it is nice to see. ;)

6:14 pm

jac and it is not in dict. so why does the grid allow it? i thought the grid was linked to the dictionary.

6:15 pm

i am a junior babbler.....ribght?

6:15 pm

Isn't it nice crossy? How is the grid treating you?

6:15 pm

Yes, Crossy. It's wonderful to catch up with the 'old guard' once more, though some of us keep in touch on FB or by other means.

6:15 pm

you have tons of "seniority" mkg ;)

6:15 pm

if you are MKG, i am too LOL

6:16 pm

Who knows re the dictionary and the grid, mkg? I sure don't. But it IS a word.

6:21 pm

I went pro after just three days; ) Stumbleupon clued me onto babble. This year S.U closed for good. :(

6:21 pm

That explains it.... ty carlee. I was even poorer then than I am now and couldn't spare the $15... someone paid my membership... still have absolutely no clue who.... wish they'd let me know.

6:21 pm

Ah, that explains it carlee. I'm sure I was here a year or more before the date it says. That must be when I got 'pro'.

6:22 pm

It closed? That's too bad... I think I used it for finding Iron Sudoku..which led me to Babble afte not too long.

6:22 pm

Oh de4/5! PB for me. I just typed the ye4/6 word. lol

6:22 pm

6:28 pm

I must leave you all now. take care and happy babbling!

6:28 pm

I'm ashamed to say I've forgotten the name of the lady I made the 'I Hate ER Words' icon for. She loved it as she hated the 're' words. I think she must have passed on now, as she was quite old back then.

6:28 pm

6:28 pm

Hi, all. :)

6:28 pm

Wow.. you really are "old guard" Pam...

6:29 pm

'Bye Crossy.

See you soon, elegant!

6:31 pm

Adieu Elegant, ty for gracing the chog yet again..such a treat to have the husband and wife team here <3

6:32 pm

Got it, Kate, by checking my friends list. It was Ex-Wren aka Barbara Gough and she was 85 back then.

6:32 pm

Pam and Jacula.. there are more lurkerz out there that used to chat all the time. We msut draw them out! Perhaps lure them with goodies and drinkies?

and smoking hot cabana boys

6:32 pm

Barb is still alive and kicking.. in my friend list.. I should give her a poke on FB.

6:33 pm

Kate - I don't think I know anyone different from you on FB Babblerwise. Will check though.

6:33 pm

LOL, I thought the Cabana Boys were a give.. but now that you mention it magmom... we should send them to draw the lurkerz out ;)

6:33 pm

we have not seen franmag

6:34 pm

Kate - She is? That's WONDERFUL to hear! I hadn't seen her for so long, I feared the worst.

send them bare chested, wearing tight pants, and dancing.

6:34 pm

and lizsark

6:34 pm

I am sure i saw a post revently, but FB only shows me the same fe these days. It is easy to lose track of people...

6:34 pm

Ah, I can give franmag a nudge. Mind you, haven't seen any posts on FB from her for a while. But that might be FB's doing!

6:35 pm

i know she is busy with her real estate business now

6:35 pm

she updated her profile pic 8 hours ago.... wuld you like to drop he a note Jac?

6:35 pm

Yes Kate. FB is a pain like that. I think I'm soon going to have to make time to do a deliberate tour of my friends on there to say 'Hello' so I get to see their posts again.

6:36 pm

FB doesn't show very many friends these days... and even if yu make a point of clicking posts and commenting it's still touch and go.

6:36 pm

Re Barbara, Kate? Yes please!

6:36 pm

Good idea Jaula.. I have needed to do the same, hope it will help.

6:36 pm

I will drop her a quick note now.

6:36 pm

i just sent fran a message

6:37 pm

Thanks carlee, re Fran.

6:37 pm

np...

6:37 pm

sorry, trying to multi-task

6:38 pm

All I am going to say in re: Cabana Boys is that there are Cabana Girls, too. And a bunch of genderfluid Cabana attendants. The times they are a-changing. :)

6:38 pm

oh man Stiddy... I am too old to repeat the back flips... **cartwheel* for stiddy**

6:38 pm

*Cabana attendants*

So true, Pam! All are welcome in our cabana!

6:39 pm

*somersault for carlee*

6:39 pm

( carlee does not care which attendant brings the mojito, so long as they make a good mojito )

6:40 pm

LOL old age SUCKS stiddy LOLOLOL

Scrolling for clues before I said 'Hey all,' and I come across permalurk - LOL pam - really great!

6:41 pm

Thanks, HK!

6:41 pm

LOL carlee -- isn't that the truth!

6:41 pm

hello Helen!

6:41 pm

***hugs for pam***

6:42 pm

:) stid

6:42 pm

Note sent to Barb, Jacula.. I dropeed your name ;)

Oh you guys are bringing up some really great names, it would be wonderful to see them again: Franmag!!! Ex-Wren!!!!

{{{stiddy}}}

6:43 pm

Kate - I hadn't realised she was on FB. I found her on your friends list and sent her a friend request. Your note will make sure she knows who I am on there (if you told her my name on there rather than my 'nick' on here?)

It's amazing the change you've wrought in here, hk. :)

6:43 pm

STIDDIE!!! <3 Hello :)

6:43 pm

hi there SJ..ok...hounds need a pee break..brb

6:43 pm

Pam... Cabana staff? the more letters I type, the more chance of a typo ;)

6:43 pm

LOL hello KATE! **scatters choclits in delight**

6:44 pm

Cabana CUTIES! ;-)

6:44 pm

I put your first name/Jacula...

6:44 pm

HA! Perfecto Stiddie!!!!

6:44 pm

Whatever floats your boat, Kate. All I was saying is that there is a variety.

Pshaw SJ - It's really all of YOU, come together again. I only knocked on the door, you all opened it and came on in :)

6:44 pm

Ooooh CHOCLITS, TYTYTY STiddie :D

6:45 pm

I did think it was understood, butyou are correct it wan't an inclusive moniker...

6:45 pm

LOL all we need now are some iced MJCLs and the evening will be "just right"

6:45 pm

*wonders if anyone remembers those*

Well, never having been in the PB, of course, hk wouldn't know what those are :D

nope. what are they?

6:46 pm

MJCLs? coming up blank.

6:47 pm

mochajavachocolatte

Yes! I DO remember now!

6:47 pm

You need to go for a visit HK... lovely there - just like the TARDIS.. much bigger inside than out!

6:47 pm

Bingo! I remember that, scrummy yummy!@!!!

. . . so, wait, if I say a word in chat I have a shot at one of those?

wold

6:48 pm

Samantha... hello hello hello!

"Whooopsy!"

TK - Hate to admit this, a sci-fi addict since I was a kid, but just could never get into Dr. Who - not sure why?

6:48 pm

shot of your choice Samantha.. and you would have to make sure it is well stocked with goodies...

6:48 pm

LOL You can have as many MJCLs as you like -- but I generally leave a HUGE pile of choclits in the PB

LOL SJ

I GUESS I HAVE TO GO TO THE PENALTY BOX NOW. Oh dear. :)

6:49 pm

SSSSHHHHHHHHH Don't let Gwen hear that HK!

NO SJ - Return at once. You need to enter a word I don't already have!

6:49 pm

LOL SJ

6:49 pm

LOL, such a shame Samantha.... ;)

Maybe Gwen can give me some incentive, because so many people LOVE that show, and I feel left out.

Waiting for a better word from SJ - perhaps one of the 10 6's I'm missing :)

6:51 pm

Sometimes one Doctor or Companion doesn't appeal and you lose interest HK? I have come and gone, but don't get it on my tv any more here

6:51 pm

Like raddle HK?

I only gave it a brief chance with the original Doctor, it just didn't hook me.

Nope, not that one TK, try again :)

When you say "the original" do you mean the original original, or the reboot original?

6:52 pm

We all can't like the same things - what a dreafully boring world it would be!

6:52 pm

helen -- I enjoyed the third doctor (John Pertwee) immensely. He had companions that were believable and a real panache. Tom Baker is well-known and was I think the longest of the old doctors, he was excellent, but I did find some of his companions tedious. Of the new doctors, David Tennant was excellent, but I actually preferred the energy of Matt Smith.

6:53 pm

The first doctor, William Hartnell, always seemed so very very old (he was younger than I am now!), but I loved the stories...

SJ - When I say original, I mean I'm really old enough & it's the first one - didn't he have a 'white man's loose afro'?

6:54 pm

Loved Davod Tennent! Shame he didn't stay long, but he was well-known before he did his stint...

6:54 pm

I think you're remembering Tom Baker, helen --

Honestly I find when you go that far back, a lot of the "classic" sci fi are classics because they're all we had. The modern ones are better storytelling imo

6:55 pm

I think the special effects in the new ones are FABULOUS. But I rather liked the short installments over many weeks instead of the one-hour full stories. I guess it's a sign of the times and our shorter attention spans.

6:56 pm

True SJ, back them there wasn't much choice... I miss Red Dwarf <3

I stand corrected. Stid is right, it's Tom Baker I remember, but I don't recall the show being broadcast before him.

6:57 pm

Stiddy - Matt Smith was my fave Doctor, too.

6:58 pm

I am about to lose battery power... will try to log in again later. Want to use some of the remaining daylight to get a few things done in the yard. *****hugs and choclits for everyone***** back soon as I can! *poof*

6:58 pm

Oh no,a Doctor discussion. That's almost harder to resist than KT's rantings on ironsudoku

6:59 pm

HK, you might be missing an extension of the FE 4/9 because the extension goes in a different dorection...

Bye stiddy

6:59 pm

ROFL Is1 :D Welcome to the chog!

7:00 pm

Bye Stiddie :)

7:00 pm

Please don't anyone mention Sylvester McCoy (Doc no 7) as I went to see a play about a waiting room in a vasectomy clinic (can't remember the title now) and was sitting in the front row. SMcC was the lead actor and spend entire play stark naked with shaved 'parts' just abut 5 feet from my face. Never forgotten and never to be repeated, one hopes!

TK - Not only am I missing the extension, also missing the fe 4/9 - tx, will look

7:01 pm

bigger than a spat?

7:01 pm

Hi folks

7:01 pm

'Bye stiddy!x

omg Jacs - what the hell kinda stuff are you all into over across this pond?

7:01 pm

origami came back! Hello hello :)

7:01 pm

ROFLOL, Helen!

7:02 pm

Weirdness abounds here in UK.

7:02 pm

Good grief, Jacula :D

7:02 pm

Hi origami.

7:02 pm

ROFL, sorry Jascula, I can't help it! Seconds HK's remark :)

Is1 - Hello neighbor!

7:02 pm

yet ANOTHER stir fry with quinoa on the go ...

7:03 pm

Hey HK!

Jacs - To me, that's just gross, yuk.

7:03 pm

Love your icon Is1 :D

Hiya orig :)

7:04 pm

Better luck this time carlee... will you chill it before cooking to see if it helps?

7:04 pm

oh... that was falafel made from quinoa.. this is just quinoa in lieu of rice

I posted my icon on Sept 19, 2008. My icon is almost 10 years old!!!

7:05 pm

This is all I'm going to say about the modern Doctors - Stephen Moffat was great when he was writing for Russel Davies (who was a brilliant writer/director/show runner) but as soon as he took over the whole thing went downhill. (my humble opinion)

7:06 pm

I actually like quinoa. And kale. And bacon and donuts.

7:06 pm

Same here HK.

7:06 pm

i love kale too...

*hk slowly retreats to darkened corner as all her friends talk about Dr. Who and she can't play*

7:06 pm

( and I love stephen Moffat)

What Is1? Your icon is also that old?

You have a favorite show, hk?

7:06 pm

I'll hide out there with you helen

Oh good orig, company! Wanna talk about Star Trek?

7:08 pm

Yep, I'm a dedicated lurker so I never look at it.

7:08 pm

been following his work since he did Coupling on the BBC

7:08 pm

( I dont watch DR WHo... wel i started but am in the OLD OLD OLD ones)

7:08 pm

Just been looking up what that play was. It was Alan Bleasdale's 'Having A Ball'. I note it is NOT or rather has been vanished from SMcC's CV on WIKI etc. Wonder why? lol

Oh, man, remember when we used to have themed icon days? Who was it that did those?

7:09 pm

<----big Trek fan, but not a Trekkie, as I can't rhyme off episode names and series numbers...

7:09 pm

I think it was sprite SJ

7:09 pm

Yes, it was sprite, carlee.

7:09 pm

wasn't it TO htat put out the theme of the day list?

7:09 pm

ah yes.. it was sprite... <3

SJ - nope, impossible to pick one favorite, don't watch that much TV. Was actually accosted by an interviewer in a mall once, who asked that very question. I couldn't think of anything, so I asked him what everyone else was saying. He started to show me his sheet (I saw a whole lot of 'Friends'), then he wised up & said, no, I had to think for myself. So I said, Jeopardy. Then I said, no Star Trek Voyager, then I changed it to something else, then he said, ok lady, we're going with Jeopardy.

7:10 pm

Helen - the proximity to parts in the play was gross! Hence my saying never to be repeated, I hope! x

7:11 pm

Hahah HK... hard to ick just one...

7:11 pm

I loved Star Trek.

"OK, lady, we're going with Jeopardy." -- Hilarious!

7:11 pm

Nudity in a play/film is fine, as long as it furthers the plot and is realistic rahter than being gratuitous.

7:11 pm

Jacula - I'm making plum jam again. Remember when you helped me from afar a couple of years ago? I am now the mistress of jam :D

7:12 pm

I've never seen Jeopardy.

It's a long-running game show, is all.

7:12 pm

I agree about nudity in a play etc., Kate, but I'd prefer not to have been just feet from his parts for an hour or more. lol

7:13 pm

I watch hours of Star TRek 6 nights a week on Heroes & Icons... have it on now. Thye start at 8 with the original and do one of each series in order, anding with Enterprise :) It saves my sanity <3

7:13 pm

Origami - Oh yes! So glad you've mastered the jam. My plum trees have no fruit on them this year. :(

7:14 pm

You taught me jam-making from across the pond :D

7:14 pm

I'm really into The Big Bang Theory on TV at the moment. Late to the party, I know. I just love Sheldon. He reminds me a bit of my son. Son agrees and it was he who first told me to watch the show.

7:14 pm

(on Sundays they even run 2 of the half hour "cartoons" that came after the original series... woot!

*keels over as Jacs has never had the pleasure of asking a question of Alex Trebek*

7:14 pm

very cool TK...

I love TBBT!

7:15 pm

Aw, origami. Hands across the pond and all that. That's what the internet is really for! xx

7:15 pm

Lo9ve that too, and was also late to the BBT party.. love Young Shelodn as well.. it culd have been terrible, but it is spot on.. the kid is perfect!

7:15 pm

TBBT is great fun.

7:15 pm

I was a kid when the Star Trek was on originally. My mom was such a sci fi fan that we had to eat dinner in front of the tv when it was on.

omg TK - I watch those same re-runs. I usually wait til DS9 though.

7:16 pm

I saw the episode where Sheldon had to attend the birth of his sister's baby last night. It was hilarious.

7:16 pm

Is1 - I used to do that with my kids and The X Files.

TK - Yes, LOVE young Sheldon!!! The kid is great! Just last night I was admiring Annie Potts playing the grandmother. Goddamn, Annie Potts a grandmother!!!

7:17 pm

I haven't watched Young Sheldon yet. Will do soon though.

7:17 pm

Oppph XFiles too, though I miss almost all of the new ones.. I forget where and whenhtey are on. :(

Jacs - You will love it.

7:18 pm

i haven't yet either... am redoing Gilmore Girls nd west wing... sanity

7:18 pm

She is a perfect me=maw!!!!

7:18 pm

The new ones aren't a patch on the old ones, Kate, INMHO.

7:18 pm

hate to admit this, but I can't live without Andy Griffith reruns

7:18 pm

YOu must start Yuong Sheldon.. first season, so you won't have much to catch up. Try to find it fronm the start.. maybe summer re-runs?

7:19 pm

The best of the new X Files was the 'when technology takes over' one, I think.

7:19 pm

I watch the Andy reruns when they are on. The show was really ahead of it's time in some ways. And he was such a kind character.

7:19 pm

eals

7:19 pm

i will stream it online TK

7:19 pm

eads

7:20 pm

sorry

7:20 pm

Ha.. Andy G is my back up, I switch to TBBT and news from 6-7.. then it's all ST if my belove NCIS and a few others aren't on...

7:20 pm

Wait - there's a new X Files? I don't have cable any more so miss a lot of things.

7:20 pm

Not a word, IS1. Try the things on each side of your head instead. :)

7:21 pm

thks

7:21 pm

KT if you love ST you must watch the first episode of this season's Blackmirror. each E is stand alone but E one of most recent season is must see for any trek fan

Sometimes, when I walk into a waiting room, and all the seats are taken, I point to the best seat & say 'You're in my spot." (This is true, I swear, I am this ballsy.) Lotsa times people will make like they're going to move for me, but it floors me that the majority of the time they don't get the reference. Then I have to explain it to them, then we get to talking, and eventually people scooch over so I can sit down. I highly recommend doing it, worth it those few times that people actually do get it - "Who do you think you are, Sheldon?" "You don't even look like Sheldon." and my favorite, "Sorry Sheldon, here you go!" hahahaha

7:21 pm

all day long, I am now deeply into the old westerns, which I had NO appreciation for until now.. wow, they are all morality plays teaching lessons htat we would all do well to pay attention to now... I adore The Rifleman especially <3

7:21 pm

I absolutely loved Dexter and have all the DVDs. Some people on FB took exception to me loving a programme about a serial killer. But that's their problem. It was FICTION!

7:21 pm

TK - right?

7:22 pm

On the rare weekdays that I'm home they

7:22 pm

How about Spaghetti Westerns, Kate? Loved them.

7:22 pm

they're such a relief from the talk shows!

7:23 pm

Oh, wow. My best friend loves all the old westerns and has booked us a trip in October to a western film festival.

7:23 pm

Helen - LOL re the seat thing!

7:23 pm

car... I did try to get the online ST, very pissed that it is a pay to view thing... I can't see it and it isn't out there online anywhere (except the first episode, which was a 2 parter..) Nope, SY has let me down and is now only for the better off rather than the masses... don't get me strted!

I too loved Dexter, it was so well done. I watched the opening sequence every episode, oh, so terrific, the blood shaving, the ketchup on the eggs, that twinkle in his eye as he leaves his apartment.

7:24 pm

ECHOES the seat thing laughter... that is a scream!!!!!

7:24 pm

Yes, I love the opening sequence, too, helen.

7:24 pm

TK I will hook you up to my sites...

7:25 pm

I liked Dexter too, but lost track of it (maybe opposite Criminal Minds, or something I was very invested in..)???

What was that guys's name, Michael C. Hall. And he was outstanding in 6 Feet Under. That was a fabulous show!!!

7:25 pm

Thanks carlee! I culd try to get them fromPirate Bay, but i have almost no memory left in my PC..

Jacs- you should try it, be serious about it :)

7:25 pm

Did you read the Dexter books, Helen? Totally different from the TV series. I deliberately waited until after the finale to read them.

7:26 pm

I LOVED 6 FEET INDER! Love quirky humour and they did tackle social things quite well...

7:26 pm

this is streaming... sent you the link

7:26 pm

Helen - back to the opening sequence for Dexter, it was the 'PING!' noise at the end that totally made it for me.

7:27 pm

it is in digestible bites so that Fb does not get upset

Yes TK - 6 Feet Under so brilliantly done. For those who

will continue

7:28 pm

Is1 and Jacula.. yes, the westerns are a refuge from talk shows (which I abhor)...still can't stand the spaghetti western movies, they really are such a parody.. if I was inclined that way, I am sure they are a scream to watch when *high*

7:29 pm

Maybe you'll come around to them in the end, Kate.

've never seen it, each episode starts with an opening vignette that reels you in so completely you totally forget you're watching 6 Feet Under until the credits start to roll. Every-single-episode got me that way!!! Every single one!

7:29 pm

I never understood why 6 feet under wasn't picked up for late night?

7:29 pm

I only watch the westerns when I am writing a paper on marginalizing tropes and stereotypes...

Jacs, yes, that ping with the twinkle. And we so worried he would be caught, right?

7:30 pm

Not seen 6 Feet Under. Title didn't appeal to me since I'm claustrophobic.

Jacs - You gotta give it a try. Also The United States of Tara. Those I think were both HBO shows

Jacs - I didn't even know there were Dexter books. As soon as I finish my Octavia Butler kick, I'll check one out.

7:32 pm

there is a fab series from australia on netflix Offspring... OMG I laughed.. I cried.. I cried while laughing..I laughed while I cried.. LOVED IT

7:32 pm

and I just started a realy cool Korean series on netflix ..BLACK

7:33 pm

'Bones' was another series I loved. Except when Brennan got buried alive! I'm sure the writers used to giggle over ways they could gross viewers out. Remember the bone-cleaning tank where the eyeball suddenly popped up to the top, or the increasingly bloody layers peeled away to reveal the murder victim in the paper factory? Not to mention the number of people running for various reasons who ended up falling face first into a rotting corpse. lol

Where are the aussies? Toni Collette is an aussie, you guys have a lot to be proud of in this one woman, what a great talent. Playing 5-6 very different characters in the same show. Hard to pick a fav, but I loved when 'Gimmie' came out.

carlee - what is Offspring about?

7:34 pm

Helen - re Dexter. Yes. I preferred the TV ending to the book one.

7:34 pm

I was with bones until hodgins was paralysed.. WAY TOO CLOSE to real life for me.. I could not cope watching after that

Jacs - Please say no more, no spoilers!

7:35 pm

Offspring is a dramedy, the lead character is an obstetrician and she has a parents who were from the hippy era

7:35 pm

Helen - Jeff Lindsay wrote the Dexter books. https://www.amazon.com/Dexter-\n7-Book-Series/dp/B00VZITGYM

carlee - Can I gently ask why that hit too close to home? Declining to answer is just fine.

7:36 pm

just loads of fun characters.. good story lines.. a bit of aly mcbeal mysticism

7:36 pm

Helen - I wouldn't dream of doing spoilers on books. Fear not.x

<----- also a Bones lover

tx Jacs

7:37 pm

Oh HK.. Babbleland knows the story LOL.. my DXH was in a dirtbike accident, suffered a compression fracture of his spine and was in hospitalfor 4 months learning to walk again... and ashe refused proper counselling, he became abusive.... babbleland was my refuge

What's a DXH?

7:38 pm

all told was a 2 + year ordeal. That was the end of our marriage

7:38 pm

Dear Ex Husband

7:39 pm

Chog is going too fast for me to keep up! carlee, I am very surprised to all so many stereotypes actually being dispelled inhtese shows... so many episodes!

7:39 pm

carlee - Hodgins did return to work. He wasn't a very nice person to start with but did come good in the end. But that's fiction and not like real life. I'm sorry real life was so horrible for you. Hopefully, you are on the up now? xx

7:41 pm

oh.. it was just the trauma to their marriage when it happened.. was a trigger for so many horrid memories. Up side to the whole ordea and all I went through then... taught me I was stronger and more capable. I would not be doing my PhD were it not for that accident

I missed that completely, that's horrible! I totally relate to the part where something 'bad' happens to a man & all of a sudden you're the main root cause of ALL his problems. The abusive part, I went through that too. The physical damage part though & the rehab - that does sound like hell.

7:41 pm

but thanks

carlee - PhD?? Didn't know that either!!! Who are all you people anyway? What field?

Oh lookeee, the same 39 words to go I had an hour ago - wow!

7:44 pm

Offspring looks interesting, and I loved and recommend BOnes highly..also her books :)

7:44 pm

Our dear departed Renny went through similar after her hubby was seriously injured by an SuV. It came right in the end but, and I'm sorry to say this, if he hadn't been injured and so unable to help himself when the fire broke out, she (and he) might still be here. But there's no point in pondering on the what ifs. Sadly, things happened as they did.

7:45 pm

Jacula - YOU MUST give 6 feet under a go.. BUT you must start at the very first episode! YOu will thank me!

7:46 pm

Helen - 39 words left? Do you need clues or do you just need us all to shut up so you can find them? :)

Jacs - The same came to mind. Our dearest {{{Renny}}}. Mezzie was sick though with something else for a long time too, I don't recall what. Renny & I would chat on the side, much like you & I did Jacs - all bonded by effing menopause!

7:47 pm

Helen - same here. (((HUGS)))xxx

Remember those rapid fire repartees between Renny & Nutty. When those 2 were on, I couldn't have a sip of tea without snorting it out my nose. They were so sharp, so quick, such clever wits. I will never forget that pair.

7:48 pm

help with LA 6/24 pls

7:48 pm

Yes, they were brilliant, Helen.

I feel for nutty, she lost a husband so young, bounced back amazingly well and then her soul-mate Renny here. Dang.

7:49 pm

wvteach. Hi. la6/24 - add the snake letter to the word before it.

Truly brilliant - I'm glad other people remember.

7:50 pm

I agree, Kate.....have watched the whole series three times....just brilliant

7:50 pm

thnx jacula - weird word

7:50 pm

ok..caught up..

7:50 pm

the "poo suits"

wv - now ask Jacs, what is the word before it, okay?

7:50 pm

UNE!!!!!! Squeeee hello helko :D

7:51 pm

and teach came back too, hihihi :)

I got it tx.

7:51 pm

Nutty is brilliant AND she made a podcast of one of my 'saucy' short stories, and read it just how I heard it in my head when I wrote it. T'was a twist in the tail.

7:51 pm

y/w wvteach.

carlee - no you're not caught up. I asked in what field you're getting your PhD.

7:51 pm

ok..back in a bit... *short poof*

7:52 pm

I missed that Jacula.. didn't know she did odcasts..didn't even know about Graphite's page...

Hellooo Une - you just snuck on in here, heh?

7:52 pm

education HK... federal Eucation policy ( First nations...ie American Indians)

7:52 pm

Oh, Kate, you MUST look at Graphite's page. He is the derpiest dog ever. He's wonderful.

carlee - Ahhh, that explains why you were so passionate about the cards the other day, you totally get it. I applaud the choice.

7:54 pm

Helen - word before the la6.24 wvteach wanted is past tense of the la4.5 (not able to walk properly) word before it.

7:54 pm

I look specifically at how Media .. and modern artifacts created by Indigenous artists are challenging the stereotypes and by etension the imbeded racism in our eduction policies

I also didn't know nutty does a podcast, is there info on her FB papge?

7:55 pm

I don't know if she still does podcasts, Helen. This was yonks ago.

Yeah, I tried it on a whim Jacs, didn't think it would work, thanks were below in this flying chat :)

I swear, those Brits, it's like a completely different language they speak, LOL - "yonks ago."

7:56 pm

HK I sent you a link to an article that is pretty easy to read .. one that I contributed to last year

7:56 pm

I don't really see Nutty on FB but we do have the occasional private chat on there. It's been ages though.

7:56 pm

( is on the new wonder woman)

Awesome carlee, thanks, I'll check it out.

7:56 pm

'Yonks' = 'ages' ago, Helen. lol

Nutty was here yesterday.

7:57 pm

:) my section is towards the end

7:58 pm

I'm going to have to love you and leave you, Babblers. It's 1.57am here. Happy Babbling! xxx

omg Jacs - seriously, that wasn't a typo, I was giving you grief cause I thought it was a typo! LOL, jokes on me. Huh - yonks.

Niters Jacs - love ya.

7:59 pm

Une, not ignoring you, I have had to pop in and out of kitchen and cam't keep up! If we ever meet we could do a huge 5 feetunder video fest, it's been ages for me!

8:00 pm

Good night swwet dreams and good luck in the footie tomorrow (today) jacula!

8:00 pm

Helen - It comes from 'donkey's years'. I bet that doesn't make sense to you either! We Brits are a bit strange. See you all tomorrow. Byeee. xxx

8:01 pm

night night jac

Just to ruin everyone's day, let me share this: On the MSN News homepage is an article about the military strength of lots of countries and how much they spend on defense. An unbelievable number of (relatively small, seemingly benign) nations spending double digits billions. But, of course, the USA leads the pack with $682 BILLION spent yearly.

8:02 pm

I see Nutty on FB alot, so do get a good Grahite dose. Will have to ask about his page.. It is something weird like "goofydog..."

8:03 pm

HK it is a major industry...with loads of research dollars also spent in that budget

8:03 pm

They are pressing all countries to spend 2% of GDP HK....

8:04 pm

Yonks and donkey's years are very familiar to me... as is "het up" and many more... you can't breed it out of us, even after aeons in thuis strange land, still British... ;)

North Korea is estimated to be spending 22%, pretty sure many others are also upwards of 2% - so TK, they are pressing to lower spending then, yes?

What is 'het up?'

8:06 pm

wel..me thinks I will love you all and leave you all.. time to tuck myself away with an episode of something r other... night night all

10:35 pm

Are you still here rose?

10:38 pm

wa7/64 is not listed in Enable-- anyone know what it means? I'd like to toss it into a conversation just to see the look on conversant's face...

10:40 pm

wa7/64 was my last "word" as well...

10:41 pm

Google says it means a belly full of food

10:41 pm

not sure where though

10:42 pm

Just googlrd it-- you are correct, Bugs :D

10:43 pm

or googled

10:43 pm

still think it will be hard to worm into a convesation with people who aren't pissed

10:43 pm

Oh, I can't have dessert-- I have a wa7/64

10:45 pm

I would act as if it were a common word...

10:46 pm

do you think it would piss people off?

10:46 pm

no, I meant pissed as in drunk not angry. I think it would be an interesting experiment. Let me know how they react.

10:47 pm

Oh-- now it makes sense...

10:48 pm

maybe pissed is a regional usage

10:48 pm

I think I'll try it :D

10:49 pm

let me know what happens. My guess is that people won't comment in case they think they should know what it means

10:50 pm

Yes, pissed also means drunk here, but secondarily to angry...

10:51 pm

good point, Bugs-- maybe they'll just nod knowingly...

10:54 pm

done, night all

10:54 pm

night, Bugs

10:54 pm

FINI! FW!

10:57 pm

the "crazy" French ending was the key to my finding wa7/64...

11:08 pm

Good evening. I still can't find that weird wa 7/64 word but I still have half the grid to go; so I'll stop looking for the thing I cannot find.

11:10 pm

weird wa7/64 word = wa + not you + first 3 letters of an f word that means disgusting.

11:13 pm

thank you Jacula! That is one weird word all right! How are you doing these days?

11:13 pm

Just came back in to clue that and signing out again now. Happy Babbling all.x Flip happens here in UK at 6am. I'll come back in about 12 noon. I prefer to skip the flip since people give clues before I want them. Having said that, I've learned to either ignore the chog or hide it when I want to.

11:14 pm

When I don't want to see the hog; I hide it myself

11:14 pm

Nice to see you, too, Nef, but it's early morn/middle of the night here, so I'll be off and hope to see you again soon.

11:16 pm

Niters, Jacula! Good to see you again!
