hello all - I had 12 to go on previous grid :)
hi all, re7
This grid has many consonants and few vowels
Looks like a tricky one! : )

Ma6
Re7 x 2
da7
afternoon everyone :)
hey mrp, people aren't always real chatty at the flip these days :)
hi hurshy! its all good, nice to see you after sooooo long :)
Hi mrp and good night all my eyes are seeing double right now . Happy Babbling all
Sweet dreams, MaMaWA

hi mrp - nice to see you here again :)
nbt/nbs hi all
hi jessmom! hi ursh! hi diz!! so lovely to see you all :(

Clues are up
ty likety
off to bed with a book .. i can t see to tyoe any more.. nite all
nite sammy :)
Thank you Dr. God and Lickety :) Hello everyone!
hiya, Kate, and anyone else around. :)
Hi rbud :) I thinkl they are all lurking...deep diving the grid...
i got ac4/6, but like every way i go to try to find the other A, i get stuck. amule... nope, no t. acne, acme, no, those don't connect. actre...ss, nope. acu...te, nope... art... nope...
same here, hursh
It's one of *those* grids... I am having struggles with some as well. Can't find that I, so I moved on for now. Maybe it will jump out later?
what are the stats for the other A word?
dunno, not listing
*realizes kate may be asking other people...* hehe
nope... sorry hurshy... and hi! (was talking to you ::)
I figured out the i, it's il 5/14, part of your lower guts.
I thought that must be it, but was getting no where for the variation... ty rbud. at least I know I was on the right track :)
and there it is :/
ahhh 90%
YAY!
that nu 5 word always kinda makes me laugh, how can one be more naked - I figure it's like being pregnant, you are or you aren't! :P
well people are often described as half-naked or very pregnant, so...
and one knows what they mean by this
one can picture it
therefore it clearly does have meaning
I'm probably nekkider than most right now, haha
ha :) maybe it means more sheer, like pantihose? LOL
half way through a game of strip poker?
i'm guessing we're all nakeder than any Victorians would have been when not in the middle of changing
nah, just staying cool.
haha... I will comfess that my ankles are showing right now
haha, hursh, no doubt in my mind.
i've got SHORTS on and SHORT SLEEVES!
it is SHOCKING
scandalous! :o
as long as you aren't sporting socks and sandals ;)
the horror!
did you know there was one Russian Empress, Elizaveta, who had ACTUAL fashion police?
(for the upper classes, at any rate)
Really? do you know when this was? roughly...
there were certain things people weren't allowed to wear because only she was allowed to wear them, or other things they weren't allowed to wear because she just hated them, and whatnot
!!!
worse than the teacher who measured how far above our knees our skirts were!
mid 18th century
ya we had to kneel.. I think it was 4" from ground for us... long time ago now
I didn't have that problem much, hated skirts. But I watched it happen to some.
and the day they sent a gal home for exposing her belly button, gasp - of course this was the early Cher days
did time in school uniforms. One in HS was below the knee for the kilt
i didn't have that problem at all... public school, of course, not Catholic, they may still be stricter i suppose. miniskirts, fine, ripped jeans, fine, sweats, fine, anything was fine
except maybe t-shirts if they said something offensive or something
we alwaus had a dress code back then. private and public schools
oh, I had several offensive t-shirts, but that was later on in college, where anything went
i mean i think there was a dress code but i think it was basically like, yeah, no offensive t-shirts
i mean if you had worn, like, a see-through top with no bra, that wouldn't fly
I did used to get sent to the office pretty often in high school for walking around barefoot.
but spaghetti strap tank tops were fine
such a hippie rebel, I was
fun times :)
they could hardly see my feet under my elephant bells!
we had to have a minimal sleeve. no bare mid sections
my poor generation wanted to be rebels but it was so difficult
bare midsections were fine in my school too
like one time, my friend wrote an article in the school newspaper complaining about how stupid some of his science teacher's assignments were, and they talked about kicking him out of the honor society for it
wow, very um... progressive (?)
:D
so we were all excited, ready to all quit the honor society in protest, but then they didn't decide to do anything to him after all so we did not get the chance
it was very disappointing
that's silly hurshy! authority and methods must always be questioned... but wasn't there a staff member overseeing the publication?
you can get away with more if you're top of the class, I found. :p
rebellion quelled, by them doing nothing - love it!
they used to throw my scores out all the time, I played hell with their bell curves
yes, i found that too, rbud. once i was in the hall, at my locker, during a class time (it was a study hall time for me and i had a pass), and this other kid was in the hall too. the principle comes out of the office and sees him and starts right in, "what are you doing? where is your pass? why aren't you in class?" - turns around after this harangue, sees me, smiles, says "hi L-----" and keeps walking!
wonder where my IQ wandered off to, hmmmm
principal, ack, you know it's late and i'm overexcited when i make a mistake like that!!!!
that's true rbud... I skipped days of school once.. spent them down at the canal bank just doing math all day long... I had serious sopring fever. after about 6 days, I just went back, spoke to the principal, and that was the end of it.. sent me off to class :)
great story, nonetheless
excellent.. since you were good 99% of the time - they just... assume :)
yeah my chemistry teacher wanted at least a small group of people to get A's on his tests. which meant when he curved them, in order for more people than just me to get an A, he had to curve them so much that i'd get like, 130 or whatever sometimes
and i STILL didn't really feel like i understood chemistry terribly well!
haha ain't life grand when you're at the top of the heap?
I like that story, too, Kate! I had my own key to the counseler's office, was allowed to just get up and go there if I got so bored I could scream. Work all done, twiddling my thumbs, off I'd go.
(skipping school to do math, ya geek!)
I loved chem, we had a great teacher. physics was my weakest science... I still work on it.
really ? i thought physics was the best - the most math and least things-causing-exceptions
we usually helped the slower ones... had sort of a peer mentoring thing. we weren't allowed to "roam the halls"
in chemistry there'd be times where i'd do something and then the teacher would be like, well, but in that case, with that compound, that doesn't work, it's an exception. so i felt like there was this secret store of knowledge of exceptions and i was like how am i supposed to know that?!
I only skipped school once, borrowed a car and moved out of the house one afternoon when I was 17. But I did play sick to stay home sometimes.
but the chemistry TEACHERS we had were great, whereas nobody liked the physics teacher.
ya hurshy... it stems from my jumping from school to school... not all ciricula are teh same each year... I took second year physics without having taken first year... managed a 70, but, like you said, I didn't have a really good grasp.
i didn't play sick, if i didn't want to go because there was nothing happening that day, i just told my mom that straight up.
my mom was far too anal to go for that, more's the pity.
one of the reasons I moved out, lol
that was really my only skip too... except for one afternoon, BF was on a field trip to my town, and I met up with him for the afternoon... I got sent to school sick or not. That woul;dn't fly.
that sux rbud...
finally found as word that ends with the --tle :D
monkey found the other A word!
wellll, what is it?
I thought everyone wandered away!
lemme think of something ...
I have both of them now, it's okay.
LOL... I had popped over to sudoku :)
Weird one, for sure. ends with hawaiian flower necklace?
THANK you
y'all danced around it so much!
I just kept making educated guesses in morewords till it showed itself, lol
yeah, hursh, we were doing the hula...

You take the greatest trips
We have had a most wonderful time here but will depart in an hour or two.
We are renting an 88-year old home that fortunately has Wi-Fi.
hi Scrabbs, glad you are not tenting in the cold
yeah.. so much for that image of scrabs fighting off bears and mountain lions
It dips into the 40's overnight here in the woods, but we have a great view of a lake and can see fog covering the mountains and the lake.
Another trip, Ruru--backpacking in the wilderness is another experience altogether. We saw a bear 3 weeks ago when backpacking in the Lake Placid region for 3 days.

Afternoon all. Down to 19 after my first run through. Nice grid so far.
da7 mkg
ty. any clues mixi?
Have no idea how it got into the house. It was in the downstairs den. It's pretty cool in there (a constant 58 deg.), so the bat was pretty sluggish. I just grabbed a towel and gently plucked it off the wall. Then I took it outside and left the towel in the grass. Went back 5 minutes later and it was gone.
Thanks for da7, mixi. That gave me 3 more words.
da7/7 builds on the da4
we had a snake in our garage. very scarie.......
is there only one da 4? i have just one so far.
I had a Jehovah's witness in my garage.. I shudda done the towel thing

mixi, thanks. but dont see how to build on it. hmmm
Surprised the cats didn't find it before I did, seeing as how they use the litter box in the bathroom where the bat was located.
I GOT IT. WOW. ty. never ever saw that word before. ty mixi
it has been in a lot of grids mkg
how are we all today?
any truth to the rumor you and your husband are adding a belfry to the house judi?
it could be just the first bat-ch after all
a cauldron of bats would need a belfry
Good morning

He will be checking the belfry (attic) tonight for signs of bats.
I'm sure he'll be thrilled.

how do you change your babble password?
click on my account up in the top right I think
Be sure you click on UPDATE PASSWORD when you are finished changing your password. And it is a good idea to keep a record of your passwords.
ty, someone on Facebook said her password was ransomed
Really? what as in give me money to get into your babble account?
Dunno Zooz. If any hacker got into my Bank Account, they might just give me a s

Sorry for the hiccups....
Grumble mumble... talking to myself a
Hi Soodle; I just got here.
How does a person have their password ransomed (reading backwards, trying to make sense of what I read.)
Phew....it's a bit alarming to realise you are having a full conversation with yourself!!! Hey ((((Nef)))
No idea!
I talk to myself (& frequently answer back) but I don't worry about it until I argue with myself & take both sides! :-D
Sorry got side tracked with my media player not working with the new windows update..Grr. Yeah Not sure what, Bichon meant.
Sorry, but I think this grid sucks! It's taking me forever to try & black out tiles!
I have 2 wods left...and one of them is 4 letters...
Do you need any stats, Mool?
well I would like to know whether the m I'm missing is a 4 or a 5
it's the first column third row...
I am two "ass"anine words
MU 5/16
That's all I have also, Mool
There are two of those
ah
MU5/16 that is.
The ass is the second one.
Starts with the first three letters.
oh geez...no wonder I didn't have that one
Thank you zooz! What a weird word!
and there it is...fw
You are both most welcome.
Congrats, Moll!
the 4 was an easy one...had the word with the e prepended, but forgot the d word
Mool*
YAY, Moolingwa!!! WTG!!!
hello! 17 to go here - I don't think I can finish this w/o a list
tx
Hello, Harry. Yes it does bare teeth near the end.
16 now. 8 of them have four letters - one would think they would just pop out of the grid :)
Okay I am getting distracted. Trying to get my windows media player12 to work after the new windows update but it will not. So will take my leave to see if i can get it sorted.
LeCar - my polysci teacher in 12th grade drove a LeCar

il5,14 squid... if you know anatomy, it's part of the small intestine
thank you!
coincidentally we JUST discussed that in one of my classes on Monday
should have caught that :)
Power failure again! (We don't usually have that happen here!) in 1 hour, we got 2.5 inches of rain; it's still raining, but I emptied it out & will keep an eye on it. AndI just finished off the R's!
can I get a clue for the rightmost r
It's the re 7/32; to straighten up again
(or rebuild)
Good evening all. May I please have a clue for re6-21 the 2nd? Thanks
fix your shoes, ga
Thanks much, Nef. That was the last word for this grid.....FW
YAY, ga!! WTG!!!
thank you!
YW.
I have 13 words left; & at this point all I'm doing is putting letters in methodically because I can't find things that look like words any more.
Hi nef!
Hi Jen; how are you?
HOT!
We were too; up until around 5:30 - 6. then we got 2 1/2 inches of rain in 1 hour and the temp dropped from 93 to 74 degrees (F)
No rain here, :0(
a small town about 150 miles north of here got 6 -7 inches of rain this AM in 4 hours; now they are dealing with flash floods. Our 2 1/2 inches came between 5:30 & 6:30 PM tonight. We are getting such weird weather here. :-(
(I'm down to 4 words left, all H's
I have 4 h words
Hopefully not the ones you need!
would you like some clues? (Not sure how well I'm cluing tonight; but I can try)
I need 90 clues!
LOL!!! I would definitely confuse you if I were to try cluing that many words!! :-)
Yes!
well, I am going to go jump on face book, may see you later!
Back for my last 7!
go feather go
:)
I'm down to 2; 1 he4 & 1 he6
ohh, I've got all my HE words. want a clue?
you want clues?
i'm guessing it's the ones associated with a famous german
it's the second 2 he 4/5 and he 6/24. Yes, I've used the more words and the list & they are still invisible to me2
THANK YOU feather!
welcome!
Fireworks!
yay nef!
thanks! (it's been a while).
We've been having bad weather; & I've been dealing with 2 puppies that are wrestling over a toy right now; very distracting.
Now, can *I* help anyone with clues?
hopefully your rain heads this way!
should i know the ac6?
or how about the ma6 and ma7 combo? i keep going in circles on that one
Only if you know the sting of a hymenopterous insect, feather
hmm, relating to a wasp....had to google!
I hope you two can beehive yourselves
the ma6/7 combo (to medical people, at least) is a descriptive term for the bumps of a rash; but Enable says it has to do with a printer error
buzz off pun boy! (just kidding!)
Don't worry, ru I have the episodes pens at the ready
don't bother me .. I'm doing a comb-over
epi pens
i'm getting closer on the A, don't help any more yet...i know the right base to work with now
like the center of a cell feather
<--neve3r follows instructions well
lol it's ok, still circling around it. or buzzing around it...
would you like a hint? (It ends in a hawaiian floral necklace)
ahhhh, ty! had it all but the last letter really
Good evening everyone.
the ma 6 is M + the ac 6 - the last vowel
hi wht!
ahhh ty!
hi wht
hi wht
and that led me to my missing nu word as well
Bee, it is good to see you hear. I don't think I have seen you around much lately. (at least no when I've been here.)
came back around a few weeks ago, started being in and out more often this summer
or last week i think
It's like you've never left.
lol
we just leave the door open for her
Does anyone have a clue for the first mu5?
hey everyone.
like motel 6 here
hi carlee!
nope, that's the one i'm working on right now
mu + 3 cons.
hey feather...
carlee, i've been cleaning nick's room...came across the canadian flag patch you sent us!
so not finishing this grid today...
HEH..now THAT was a long time ago LOLOL
wht - form of mu4,6?
yep! made me smile. :)
might come in handy these days...
the last 4 letters are like a wing-nut religious sect, but all mixed up
aha! that did it nef!
ty for all the clues. Finally found it.
Oh, good! My brain is semi-coherent tonight! :-)
Hi Nef, wht, feather, carleekat, jwr, ruru, and all the lurkerz :)
fireworks!!!!
hi kate!
Congratulations feather!!!
*~*~*~POMPOM TOSS*~*~*~* for Feather!!!!
Sometimes I give hints (or cl**s) and no one gets them at all.
i love surprising myself by accidentally finding a word for fireworks, lol
nope, i followed you
YAY, featherbed!!! WTG!!!
WOOOOOT! That's the best feeling ever!
hi everybody kate named
featherbee!
wtg Feather
I like your clues Nef! Special hugs to jwr <3
yah bee -- Did you really monkey it?
Back atcha Kate
sorta...went with something that sounded like another word, and it worked
it was the re6/24
Hi Kate; just saw you were here
We do have quite a Kate Kontingent here! ;)
I jsut got here Nef! brb, making tea
i can clue for a little bit if anyone needs
After all these years babbling, I finally realized that "monkeying" was not (except in rare finger-slipping circumstances) accidental. It's the mind registering a part or whole of a grid and learning to mix em up according to basic English rules ... regardless of definition or even if they "make sense."
Fireworks for me.
*~*~*POMPOMTOSS *~*~* for wht :)
YAY wht!!! WTG!!!
Then having the courage to type them
Good on ya, wht
jar, I'm pretty sure my monkeys are totally accidental most of the time.
jwr that is
yep, jwr, exactly! i consider monkeying to be more methodical though, when i'm running through the alphabet one by one on adjacent letters. i do what you're describing a lot though, testing word patterns.
nef - it might help if you licked the butter off your fingeers before typing
yay wht!
I learned that the hard way
Congratulations wht!!!! I lookede up your Sox last time we chatted, but you were already gone... thye are on fire (and Yanjkees on their heelos) Our poor Blue Jays... *sigh* American League is a toughie ;)
i do what you describe on my first pass through the list..."let's see, 6 letter nu word..." and go with likely possibilities, not always even referring to the grid
I toss in words that might be there too, without seeing them, works more often than you'd think!
yep!
carlee, need clues?
bee, what you describe is part of the overall thing we do, I think. The part I was thinking about is not at all deliberate - it's happening in the brain while we're consciously working on other things - a Babble-Brain, not just any old head.
Did anyone see sally Catlover today? I saw here in my FB travels, she mentioned she'd probably stop in to chat and try the grid.
Ah, the toss-in. Exactly.
nah.. I am not planning on finishing,, i am just listening tot he news :) but thanks
A Babble-brain, perfect!
The grid is mostly friendly car, but if you aren't in the mood to dive in, chat is good too :)
Not something one brag's about to the Unknowing, though.
not without being looked at askance...
brags
Kate, your Blue Jays are having a tough night tonight. Mookie Betts had a thirteen pitch at bat and ended up hitting a grand slam.
Hahaha jwr.. no oone but a Babbler would understand. They likely think us all mad ;)
I hate being askanced.
hehe
My wife and I are going to the game on Saturday.
but we are, bee. we are.
people in real life hate playing Scrabble with me, I know all the good 4 letter words to line up parallel with others for mega points
Ouch wht! I don't have it one here... I'm a "call me after hte all star break" kind of fan... when I looked it up, we weren't even at .500 - you and the Yankees have gobbled up all the points ;)
those are two games that help each other, I think. And - so I'm told - does sudoku. Being allergic to numbers, however, I wouldn't know about that myself.
Haha feather... go in for the Scrabble win! It's only a game (not) ;) You should have good weather for that game Saturday wht, have fun!
I'd better head out if no clues are needed...need to say goodnight to kiddos. night everyone!
jwr, you can actually change the choices in Iron Sudoku to letters or pictograms if you like.. no more numbers to deal with!
Are you guys talking baseball? Oh, okay. Thought it was world soccer, forgot all about the all-stars
Niters feather, have a good evening :)
night featherbee. See you next grid.
When is the world cup final? I am out of the loop.
nightnight fether
Kate, we are looking forward to it. It is supposed to be warm and our seats are out of the sun.
feather* even
World cup final is Sunday. France vs Croatia.
Kate - isn't that still math? Or are you telling me working out Babble grid is a kind of math?
The dang puppies had pulled down the curtains while I was chatting here; IDK how long they will be here "temporarily," my son says; but today has tested my patience!
Ah, too bad wht. Just for historical reasons, I was looking forward to an England/France match.
No math in sudoku.. but math follows patterns so in some ways a babble grid is sorta math-y.. and there is the point count, which IS math, but very helpful at times... someone else was talking aboutthat...
Poor nef *stifling chortles* I thought only cats attacked curtains. Where is son?
Poor Nef.... puppies can be a handful -especiall if you have a small pack of them...
jwr, I was hoping for a England/France final as well, but Croatia was clearly the better team. The question is, can they win a game without going into extra time?
TY jwr. I will look in on it. I would have loved to have seen England/France as well. Am glad England did so well. A fine showing for team and country.
Our son works & lives in the basement. But the 2 cats have taken to the basement as their safe place; & the puppies are afraid to go downstairs!
you may be right, kate. The idea of Math scares me, always has. I'll have to think more about what "patterns" means. And what I thought was "logic."
How many puippoes are there???
They are a pair of year old dogs of his ex; (my grandson's mohters') & she doesn't want them right now.
Trouble nef. Dogs and cats living together. Oh my.
Yes, logic doesn't mean math - it's more about process of elimination and possibilities than anything... you should try it with letters instead!
I'm so ...*barely stifling guffaws* ... sorry, nef. Perhaps you could trade the dogs for the cats???
No seriously, my sympathy.
I totally agree with Kate's ide; my younger sister introduced me to Sudoku; she hates "math" & I love it. she does much better at it than I do.
She should be paying you dog sitting fees Nef... that just isn't right to prevail on you like that for an unknown length of time. Meanwhile, you are having to do all the training, cleaning etc.. :(
You might be able to change out dogs' position.... baby gate at bottom of the stairs and cats upstairs where they should be?
Ok Nef, you just sold me - at least to try sudoku. It's just that my best friend, an accountant, is always into playing with numbers, and me with words, so I always thought they were totally different.
I'm so glad I have your *sympathy* guys. ;-) Of all theses animals, I have 1 elderly cranky cat who warms up to people slowly; then the other is a long haired orange cat that my son took in from a blizzard when it was a kitten years ago. And both of the dogs are less than 10 -11 lbs.
Some animals just won't listen to humans. Get a Maine Coon Cat and they will all settle down. Of course, your pet food bill may rise a bit.
Go into your profile... there are 3 options there.. numbers, letters, and symbols... the letters are most logical for your Babble brain...I would think pictograms are the most difficult. Read the help bit... it will tell you all about greens and reds - very helpful, especailly for a beginner.
jar, sudoku is just arranging the numbers 1 - 9 into columns, rows, and squares so that teach row, square, or column doesn't have duplicates in them.
You do have our sympathy Nef! It is not what you signed up for and you are having to deal with it - just dumped in your laps.. and they are a handful until they are older...
jwr, sorry I keep messing up wour name!
<hands typio queen tiara to Nef> ;)
(maybe I should stop typing now; the mistakes are getting much worse)
Considering that I have been getting such a kick out of your discomfort, Nef, you can call me anything you like.
It's late, and your comments are perfectly readable Nef
The typio queen. That's great!
Haha :/
In my defense, I am barely into my second cuuppa. I try not to chat until I've had at least one, but two is better.
Kate, the woman is mentally ill; she tried suicide; so my son took the animals. She was hospitalized & is now out & moved back to her hometown now (2 days ago)to live with her mom until---who knows when.
I see, so more than jsut the dogs being "inconvenient " for her at this point... still leaves you in a bad spot and dis commoded. Cant you try a baby gate with dogs down and cats up?
(that's the unfunny part; although the pups pulling down the curtains isnn't funny now but may end up funny later
Having much fun today - thanks chat-babies. Have been avoiding going out (have rosacea and need to put on icky creams on my face and wear sunglasses that slide down the cream on my nose} so I'm "vampiring" and not going out until nightfall. I'm off to . . . uh . . . either shop for groceries, or seek out a juicy neck-vein.
"see" ya'll
It will be funny, when it's in the rear view mirror. For now it's just another thing you have to deal with :(
Haha, bye vampire jwr, Does the sun not help heal it a bit? (in small doses) Hope you find something juicy to chomp on...
Yikes! You have no idea. I look like a clown that had to leave off finishing the makeup when the fire alarm went off.
"poof"
!!! Good luck!
sunlight aggravates rosacea, as does all sorts of other things (soaps, wash cloths, hot water, meds, etc)
Ah, ty Nef. It's not a pleasant thing for someone to have to deal with :(
heh..finished afterall...
it sounds like jwr doesn't want to end up with the bulbous nose & weird red cheeks of W.C. Fields!
Congratulations cerleekat!!! (Can you pompom toss for yourself????)
YAY, carleekat!!! WTG!!!
is good TK.. i rarely even say I finished
thanks :)
Well, this is one that I'm bragging about; I found it to be a very tough grid most of the time!
PS, that was quick!!!! POMPOM TOSS and springy, twisty fliperoo with sparklers!!!!
LOL thanks kateLOLOLOL
:-D
Good for you Nef, sometimes a grid seems extra tough for some reason. Did you get a POMPOM toss????
I think so. (I was too busy puffing out my chest & bragging to remember, however!)
Belated *~*~*POMPOM TOSS *~*~* for nef!
Thank you, thank you. (Taking encore bows again)
LOL, bragging rights for sure Nef!!! Some can be like pulling teeth, so if you finish you should wrap yourself in glory and parade up and down main street!
I finished hours ago but forgot to announce it. Do I get a pompom toss, too? :D
YAY, Jacula!!! WTG!!!
Jacula!!!! :) Hello!
Congratulations Jacula!!!
*~*~*POMPOM toss *~*~* for jacs too!
HOw are you at this ridiculous time of the morning?
I need to talk with my son about these dogs; I'll be back shortly
Hi Kate & Nef. Don't think I'd better parade up and down the street tooting my trumpet as it;s 3.30am here in UK. Mind you, I bet lots of neighbours would be keen to tell me the time. *giggles*
Bah! They have no sense of occasion!
Nef has rolled up her sleeves and is off...
What are you up to today Jacula? I haven't had much FB time today. Just a quick fly-by.
My body clock is a bit muddled, Kate, due to the disturbed nights during this heatwave. It got a bit cooler for a while yesterday and so I was finally able to face tackling my ironing pile. I finished a couple more Nordic Gnome trios yesterday, Kate, amongst doing other things. Today, after some sleep, I'll probably do much the same. Storms are supposed to hit our region at about 3pm. Hope there isn't flooding as the ground is bone dry and rock hard.
Oh dear. Can commiserte over the lack of sleep fromhet. My clock is way out too. went to sleep at noon today. Just up a few hours ago - still on my second cuuppa here. At least you have managed to knock down your to-do list. Hopefully you will get a long gentle rain so it all soaks in. We are quite dry here as well... I love your little knot gnomes!
Gee, it's awfuo hot in here now - at 10:40 PM... over 90 and no breeze.
I love my Nordic Gnomes, too. I've started naming the now - fatal flaw if I want to sell them for the charity! lol
Oh no.. you are now doomed! Never name them if you want to have them adopted out :)
At least the ones going to Stephen's Tracy's Dream will go to good homes <3
76 def F inside the house here at 3.42am. Problem is, I'm having intense hot flushes (flashes) again. Not sure if that's due to the weather or not. I go through periods of not many and then they ramp up again. I've lost 9lbs in weight since the heatwave began.
An Aussie in his "gotchies"? Crocodile UN 5/14 !!!
Yes, Kate, re Tracey's Dream - all sold in a good cause. I will most likely sell them privately, as I said on FB, because the charity stalls aren't always in the best places to command a good price for goods. Stephen will still get the profits.
They do come and go in spurts Jac, and always seem worse at night - the waves should start jto smooth out a bit in more time... but until then - YGH!
I was looking for budgie smugglers when you said the un cl4/6, Kate. Thought I'd missed a word. lol
I hate to ask if you ever got things straightened out with that one lady that contracted for some then didn't want to pay... :(
I don't think they will smooth out, Kate. I've been having them for about 21 years and my Mum (who is 82) still gets them... and I usually follow her healthwise. :(
Budgie smugglers, LOL....
That is rotten.. mine haven't gotten much better either, after many years. Most distressing, especially when I go out. I find if I'm in the heat then go into a shop with AC, I absolutely sweat buckets...my whole head is soaked, and I drip on the produce. Most unlady-like :(
HR may be an option for you?
Oh yes, the lady who didn't want to pay, Kate. I sent her a blunt message a couple of days ago asking if she would either tell me what method she wanted to use to pay or let me know if she didn't now want the item she'd commissioned because I would sell it elsewhere if she didn't. (She'd been stalling for two weeks re payment by then.) I finally got a message back yesterday saying that she was sorry and I should sell it elsewhere if I wanted but, if not, she would have it but she was 'struggling a bit' at the moment. I've got her address and I know she lives in a new-build detached house on a nice estate, I've seen her FB and know she's not long come back from a 2-week holiday in Barbados and that she spent last weekend in a posh hotel in Edinburgh for her wedding anniversary. I haven't replied to her message yet because I'm feeling a bit cross that she commissioned an item without being sure if she had the means to pay for it.
No, no HR for me, Kate. Had it very briefly some years ago just so I could get some sleep, but with breast cancer in the family, it's not an option for me.
I know what you mean about dripping on stuff, Kate. It's awful, isn't it?
I'd be a bit miffed too jac. She may have had a string of unusual high payments to make lately, but good grief, you're not asking hundreds for it. She may be a person who lives one pay from bankruptcy (which is still no excuse). Sounds like she's living to boast on FB about her wonderful life.. how utterly sad. I hope she honours her commitment in the end at least. Maybe you need to start taking a down payment that is non-refundable? (that would be a shame, but people don't always respect the work of someone that doesn't own a shop)
Re HRT - my GP won't even give it to his wife, despite having to put up with her flinging the duvet on and off him all night and sometimes 'attempting to kill him' should he dare try to cuddle up. That's how dangerous he thinks it is. And I can't disagree with him because I know of a few people (including a couple of family members) who have contracted breast cancer as a direct result of long-term use of HRT. The herbal version worked brilliantly for about 2 months and then just stopped working. :(
I've only ever taken commissions from friends before, Kate, and they have always come through. I did take the precaution of telling the lady who contacted me asking me to make something for her how much it would cost and that I would need payment in advance before I sent the completed item to her. I will certainly ask for an advance deposit should it happen again. Good advice, Kate.
Maybe you should try the herbal one again if it's been a while.. or a different formulation? Yes, I read a lot about it years ago and have steered clear, even with no history of any cancer in my family.. but there did seem to be other benefits - was it cervical/ovarian cancer risks lowered(?) I shall continue to drip, er, glow until I can stand it no longer. I thnk my sleep is permanently messed up... I will never funtion normally again at this rate.
Yes, I might try the herbal one again. It's been a few years since I used it now.
That seems like a fair way to operate Jacula. At least you do have the option of "off loading" them, albeit at lower prices, to Tracy's Dream, so they won't sit in a box unloved.
Can't hurt to give it another try Jac... the worst that can happen is that you are out a few pounds. Worth it if it starts working again. Maybe you need to do alternate days or a week on a weeke off so you don't develop too much "immunity" to it?
It it just you and me here, Kate, or is there anyone lurking in need of cl4/6s?
Have you finished the grid yet, Kate?
hi all. well 30 left and i am done.
Hi mkg. Not up for a cl4/6 or two?
Small grid, quiet chog....there could be a few lurkerz out there, but no one has asked for a hint... Yes, I did finish the grid (stealth mode, as carlee wasn't around for a pompom toss at the time..)\
Hi mkg :)
Pompom toss and dramatic twirl pluss *~*~*~*~*~s for Kate!
Wooot! TY Jackers :D
I'm back now. My son *says* he's as frustrated as I am by the dogs being here; he agrees we need to figure out a better idea of how to deal with them; but right now had no thoughts of what would work,
Still wish this blinking chog had an edit button! I meant plus not pluss!
BRB again!
Hi Nef - I only skimmed through the day's chog, but this is dogs taken in from a mad neighbour?
Oh, Nef's gone again. Oh dear!
Welcome back Nef... it's not much, but you have opened up a dialogue, that's a good start. It's too bad you don't have some sort of timeline for when she may be able to take them agian. It is her ex DIL's dogs Jac, she isn't in a good "place" tight now to take them back. She is now in the care of her own mother for the time being.
and agree about the edit... I often don't see the typos until they post... and the font doesn't help.
Thanks for the update, Kate, re Nef.
Well, if no one needs cl4/6s, I should probably go and try to get some sleep. BBL
tough situation... :(
no, I'm here again; my son wanted to tell me something else again & it didn't pertain to anything else here.
Go catch some Z's Jacula if you can.
Maybe there is some dog rescue place that could set up a foster place if she could pay for boarding? Not sure if funds would even allow for that...
Sleep well Jac, at least it's a bit cool for you :)
I'm still here for a while if you need grid help, Nef.
Kate, she's not able to even make a decision about herself; much less the dogs. My grandson loves the dogs; that's why my son said he'd care for them.
Hi folks
And Jacula, I am done with the grid now; so I don't need cl4's
hi ori!
I do understand Nef... this isn't all black and white. Unenviable position to be in. :( Hi origami!!!! :)
mlg was doing her last 30 though Jac.. she may need a hint soon, must be getting close.
How has your day bee going ori? Are you finished the grid?
Nef, the poor thing. I hope she is getting counseling and meds if needed... she's got a tough row to hoe for now.
I sometimes think I'm a softy for some things; I don't want animals to be thrown out or treated bad; I hate pollution and people not caring for their things or environment; I hate people being physically or mentally ill, etc.
Hi ori.
hi folks
41 to go
Hi harp.
Well, you do have extra incentive Nef, as grandson loves the dogs... makes it that much harder.
Hi jane...go,go, go!!!! :)
HI harp
You're not a softy, nef. You're just of a generation of people who do actually care about others (including those who aren't human) and actually try to do something about it other than just clicking 'like' on some social media site.
Going to take the dogs out … back in a few
Have good walkies ori :)
We've all finished, harp, and so just yell if you want a cl4/6. x
I feel extra sorry for critters :(
Our first dog was from the 3 day pound; the 2nd was we took him so the first owners wouldn't put him down. We've had various cats through the years; usually had to put them down due to advance age + serious disease; but we did have to put 1 down due to seizures affecting her quality of life and another loving cat who was tail-less Manx with spinal problems. Our current cat is about 18 years old & we inherited her when hubby's aunt died.
(3 day pound: back then, if they weren't claimed within 3 days of being caught; the animals were put down)
You are a blessing to animals that come into your life Nef... it's never easy to make the decision to have them put down. One of the prices we pay for years of joy we get from them. :(
Pets, I reckon are sent to open your heart, break it and then show you how to glue it together again. It helps with dealing with what life throws at you, too.
Three days isn't much time to claim..so many reasons why it takes longer.
Three days is just ridiculous!
Even 7 days might not be long enough.
She did say back then, probably longer now?
and more "no kill" shelters all the time.
Now a days it is much longer. But back in the 80's that one had a 3 day rule due to the number of animals brought there all the time.
Dogs didn't want much of a walk. Still close to 90 here.
And Jacula, what a lovely thought about pets opening a persons' heart!
Thank goodness there has been progress in dealing with stray or unwanted asnimals.
Don't blame the dogs for not wanted more than a wee etc., ori. Too hot!
Jacula - I know you're a cat person. I have a long-haired white cat with big black spots. The spots are turning brown. She's about 12 years old. Is that like a person's hair turning gray?
that's too hot ori! How are the fires out your way?
Yes, it is like that re the cat fur, origami.
It is too hot. The fire that was closed to me (about 50 miles away) burned 90,000 acres. It is almost 100% contained now. Just smoky.
The dogs have gone to bed now (the kennel is is grandsons' room) and our cat is now up wandering around to seeif I remember her bedtime treat and to check on whatever the dogs have done now.
Glad it is at least contained now ori. Air quality must be terrible there :( Poor Nef, critter wtangler, exreaordinaire. Your work is never done! ;)
Oh, California. People think we should be afraid of earthquakes. What we really fear is fire. And fire season lasts June - October in a lot of places.
MU 5/16 Twain's Yankee riding on the front end of an equine?
We've got a bit of a problem locally of people automatically thinking that if they see a cat in their garden for several days, it must be a stray. We've had collar, no collar, looks a bit thin, dirty paws and all sorts said on our local community site. Some cats, though micro-chipped, won't keep collars on, some are naturally skinny, some don't bother cleaning their dirty paws straight away. (All of those things describe my Simba.) It's got so bad with people carting people's pets off to animal shelters, that even our local shelters have asked people to try the paper collar, note on the collar or just asking before presuming. If you see an unaccompanied dog these days, especially if it looks a bit panicky, then, yes take it in. Same does not always apply to cats. It's great that everyone is looking out for lost cats, but sometimes they are not lost, just checking out or hanging out in their territory.
I guess it's all in what you're used to ori! I am amazed how many will live with earthquaskes, fires, and floods... you're a tough breed out there!
ori, I can't imagine living in such a dangerous area; I'm glad I live in MN where we don't have hurricanes or fires like that. (Yes, we do have winter weather, mosquitoes, road construction, and rarely tornadoes, however)
Re fires, our disused quarry (gorse covered hill) has ignited 7 times in the past couple of weeks. I think it's due to litter (broken bottles, etc.) rather than arson.
Agreed Jac, a bit too q2uick on the trigger by some well-meaning people.
The worst one I can remember was last October out ruru's way. Awful - just awful. Wiped out whole suburbs.
You did say it was bone-dry there Jacula... maybe they need ot go in and clear out some of the underbrush and debris to help with keeping fire chances down?
213,000 acres burned in the Napa fire
That's the scariest thing to me; fires. And the smoke also.
The funniest thing I saw on our local site was last week when someone, ignorant about wildlife, posted a picture of a young Jay and asked 'Anyone lost a bird?' I was pleased to see almost everyone knew it was a wild bird. Well-meaning but not well-informed poster.
Oh, my, Jac
ori, I have a friend in Santa Rosa, and a huge fire got within a house of her place.. the street behind her was comletely lost... right up to a few feet of her back fence. It was lucky the wind died down and they were able to keep it in check.
Jacula, that's hilarious! How uninformed about Nature that person must be!
LOL Jac, that is funny.. and again not. I saw something not long ago about school kids here not being able to identify 10 trees or 12 birds that are local... that is sad that so few know what used to be common knowledge
The last quarry fire got so close to the houses but the firefighters couldn't reach it. The householders had to go out with hoses themselves and soak their fences, the trees and the brambles etc., behind.
Let's hope your temps drp soon Jac, that should help. We have wildfires raging here in Northern Ontaio as well, they are managing to get them under control, but we have had highways shut down out Temagami way... cottge country for most, but tis the season.
There is one strange thing going on in UK during this heatwave. Lots of African Grey parrots seem to have gone missing. Flown out through open windows and doors, I guess. There are so many posts about lost and found ones, and they all look the same, that everyone is getting confused.
Cali culd use some rain and cooler temps too. Half a year devoted to fire season is just too much!
My sister & her husband live in a desert area of western MT and they worry if they don't have snow and they worry if they do; without a good snow cover in the winter the fires start early; if they do have good snow cover and adequate rain, they worry about too much underbrush setting them up for fires in the fall!
The birds will know their owners, surely? Still, they must think they're back home in the tropics with all that heat. Probably really enjoying their little "fly-about"
My son just keeps saying, whilst wiping the sweat off his brow, that it was far hotter when he and his dad drove through The Grand Canyon. That, of course, is true. But it's still too bloody hot here.
Ugh, that's a no win situation Nef.. would planting more very hardy trees help.. if they started at the edges qand worked their way in, sort of reclaiming the land a foot at a time?
Unseasonable for you for sure Jac.. but zooz is loving every minute of it! He even took his jumper off, LOL
I think we're going to be okay this year, Nef. There was a huge snowfall. We've had a few hot days but it was a wet spring.
The parrots are certainly enjoying their freedom in the heat, Kate, but local birds will mob and perhaps kill them, and we do have birds of prey that might take them, too. :( Having said that, I haven't heard a peep out of the local buzzzards lately, which is unusual given all the hot days.
29 left. had to go patch up a bloody spouse. just a flesh wound
I hope not Jac! Surely a mouse, vole or sparrow is easier prey for the raptors? Hope they know all about cats... and their innate warning systems work well...and thaey are all caught before it gets too chilly for then. The greys are so darned smart!
They have just annual plants (flowers) around their house; they have cleared all of the land within a certain distance of their house (IDK how far it is); they make sure the grass & trees around their house are watered with grey water& there is no dead or dried stuff around their house.
zooz took his jumper off, Kate? I've been wearing as little as I can get away with in the house, putting more on when I have to go out in public and then ripping it off when I get back home again. O/H has just been going naked as much as possible when he's home.
Bloody spouse??? oh dear...
just a flesh wound...
harp - what happened to 'bloody spouse'??
Yes, harp; what happened?
good precaution on their part Nef... you can only do so much to protect your property,, it is up to the neighbours to do the same.
and harp; this is the sister & brother in law that live near Helena; there was a fire near their house last summer....
a cabinet drawer was open and he stood up, got a big gash on the top of his head
*giggling* with thoughts of Jac out watering the garden is her alltogether.. only an apron for decency. and P running nekkid in the house? Oh my!!!
head woulnds are the worst! They gush blood like you're dying...
yah, all better now but it will probably break open while he's sleeping.
harp; I just *hate* it when somebody leaves cabinet drawers & doors open for just that reason; I am usually the one getting gashed
No, I can't go out into the garden nekkid or just in my nightie right now as next-door-but-one have the builders in and I don't want to be flashing at them!
use some super glue on it; just keep the hair out of the gash
There's not really a way to put a bandage on it without shaving a spot....
Ouch re the head vs open drawer injury.
tourniquet? ;-)
Are those builders never going to finish??? All that music and chat must be so annoying.. and when they go forthe day, the neighbours start with their garden machinery as they drift home from work!
pressure and ice? too bad you don't have a good old fashioned bathing cap... like for a pool, not a shower
ROFL Nef... apply TK below the wound - like right around the neck ? <snort >
I reckon the builders will be doing outside work for about another 10 days and then there will be 2 weeks of inside work by plasterers, electricians etc.
we have a triangular bandage left over from when I had to hobble out of the woods with a broken leg. And the instructions showed a very detailed picture of how to hold a head bandage on!
Then there's the CPAP machine....
That's not too bad, at least inside - even with open windows - the sound level will be tolerable
Lol re what Kate said about the tourniquet. I was about to say the same.
:) Jacula
I've got my Mum's old Red Cross manual from the 40s somewhere. As I recall, there are many complicated kinds of head bandages for many sorts of head wounds.
the CPAP machine should help hold the bndage on, harp. As long as he doesn't jerk it off to go to the bathroom in a rush.
will CPAP straps help keep bandage in place?
Oh dear! I read Nef's last post as 'as long as he doesn't jerk off and go to the bathroom... etc.' Probably time I try to get more sleep. *giggles*
I spent a sleepless night in a cabin in the woods, waiting for daylight so I could ski to the car. One of the things to read was a first aid manual from 1948. It was hysterical. The chapter on fractures was 90% about prevention. "The housewife should make sure she keeps a good home free of clutter..."
LOL! I just checked to make sure I didn't write that!
Good luck Jac, hope you fall into dreamloand quickly :)
I'll be sure to give a full report tomorrow about all the, um, jerking.
:D, Nef.
ROFL.....
LOL, harp! I'm surprised ruru hasn't suddenly shown up because of thaaremark!
Must get some sleep now so I can be sure to be a good housewife and keep a good home clear of clutter.xxx
ha jane, you should take a pic of that page and share it so we can all have a good giggle on FB...
And it looks like I'm very sleepy right now also.
a house devoid of a reasonable amount of clutter is a museum, not a home... -Kate, 2018.
mkg, are you still here???????????????????
jane, I have an old manual written for the lay public by a general town doctor back in the 40's or 50's. According to the doctor, men got pubic lice and STDs from dirty bathrooms, not sleeping around!
AC 6/24 a precise Hawaiian necklace?
myth propounded by philandering men... perpetuated to keep their dalliances out of the light Nef
Yep. I'd take a picture of it & send it; but for some reason I can't figure out how to post pictures on FB.
And I need to go to sleep now; good night everyone!
Hmmm. yu would have to save it to your computer first.. but you are still having issues with the new install, right? Once it is saved you click photo option from where you put a status update, then choose the pic you want from your memeory in PC.
Niters Nef :)
The irony is, of course, that more injuries happen at home, than in the woods. So I would have been more likely to injure myself if I'd stayed home, cleaning.

Go, go, Jane!!!!
what's for dinner kate? physio and hydro going well. i am soloing with the hydro, and DH is getting in the pool with me.
I guess the physio question goes to both of you... ;)
I've completed PT and I still do the exercises at home. I have good days more often than bad days. Took a 6 mile hike a few weeks ago. It was about 4 miles too long!
on the pretext i need support with me in the water, DH is doing my exercise program with me.
oh, and yesterday, at the gym, i walked 150 metres with no aid. hips just getting achy when i finished.
lolll jane, that would have been about 5 1/2 miles to long for me. you rock girl. well done.
Dinner is warmed pasta - I made a pot yesterday to last me abut 3 days, so no heat cooking (94F n here n ow @ almost 1 AM) It's shells with a spicy chipotle sauce, lots of garlic, some red onion and lovely pork loin.. it is quite good. I sprinkle some grated spicy cheese blend on the top to melt :)
