:) - Hurshy, does daylight saving begin in the US tonight? If so I'l email Lickety.
ugh, yes
No probs. I'll email him after the clues for this grid have been posted.
pa7

Clues are up
ty lickety - daylight savings for the next one
Gunt isn't a bankable word but cunt was a bankable word on the grid other day. I guess the world still just needs more time to adapt/adjust? ???
I've just emailed Lickety so hopefully he'll see that and adjust the timing on his program.
what's gunt?
Then it'll have to happen again when Aus finishes daylight saving!
google it hurshy
chris christie
google him in the baseball field
I wish we could just abandon time changes altogether
hi, all. tx for Daylight Savings Reminder, cybernan. Monday will be no fun!
i dunno if enable ever updates or how often if so or if they ever plan to or what
and AMEN to that cnan
i'd like to strangle whoever originally came up with this stupid idea
wasn't it Hoover who came up with the time change?
I could be wrong...
I wish we had Daylight Saving where I am. I don't like the fact that it's never light much after 7 pm.
Germany did it first, during WWI
then other countries
although isolated pockets of canada had already been trying it
a NZ scientist named George Hudson first proposed the idea in 1895, but he suggested a TWO hour shirt
shift
good heavens, what a monster
I think California is putting it up to the voters in the next major ballot - in June. Europe is a little further along. The Union already has a proposal out, I believe. Everyone has to agree however, before a change can be made. What a political bargaining chip that is@'
"it" is to dispense with the time changes, period.
honestly, almost nothing makes me angrier
i hate time change SO MUCH
idk if CA is, i thought WA was
Yay West Coast!
saskatchewan has never gone on DST
hi all, tu 6/39
Just one more tough question for Brexiters
great greeting grannie!
thank you very much diz
oh and it is Mongolian money (I think)
Thanks for that.
i feel rather fond of mongolia, for some odd reason
I'd never have found it without your hint :)
me neither
sitar
oops sorry
Roosevelt was who I was thinking of :( He's the one who really positioned the day light saving time on those in the U.S. Why did I think Hoover of all people :/
Mongolia doesn't have any time changes . . . .
because Hoover was a dumbass
just before the stock market crashed, Hoover said that we were super close to ending poverty in the US
oh that
now now, hursh. gotta revere the dead presidents - we only blame the live ones.
not on your life. polk, i could wring that man's neck
jackson, grrrrr
boy hurshy you sure hold a grudge
There was an article in the paper today. The bills that are being introduced are NOT to abolish DST, but to make it year-round. This is at national government level.
we straight up STOLE half of mexico, and it just... stays. nobody's ever fixed it. and then we want to build a wall to keep them out of "our" country.
It takes a bold person to lead a country. They will undoubtedly make mistakes.
Millard Fillmore was a role model for the ages, though.
un7
yeah, mistakes like lying and saying mexico had attacked us, so that we could start a war to steal land
mistakes like the trail of tears
those aren't "oops, i thought that would go well and it didn't" kinds of mistakes
most of the history of the united states is a history of the bad guys winning
Lickety just emailed to say that he's changed his settings, so hopefully all will be good for the next grid.
Hurshy - no one can change what happened there and then. I don't know what else to even say about that.
hurshy it's an unfortunate fact that by the time a politician gets to state level, he (or she) is already corrupted. It's a matter of owing people, favors if not money.
I don't want to support more "bad guys" winning. But who your bad guys are and who my bad guys are could be completely different
of course we can't. but the friggin least we could do is try to help with some of the resultant damage. alcoholism, violence, and suicide are rampant among native americans cause they've got such a crap deal. we don't do much about it.
Kimmydee, they rewrite the history books every day.
That is true hursh.
I get that jwr
the agent orange we dropped in vietnam is STILL causing babies to be born with the most bizarre deformities, but do we say, "oh we're so sorry, we will pay and help clean that up" - no - nothing - most people don't even KNOW that it's still a problem.
Who is going to fix that one?
nobody. nobody is going to fix it. that is the whole problem.
I am super angry. But I have to focus myself on things that I think that I can fix
Honest question. Do you think that anyone should bother voting?
yeah, i mean, i get that. but i don't want us to be walking around thinking we're so great when we are basically the biggest bullies the world has ever seen.
When you say US - do you mean you and I?
I doubt it.
i mean americans
last word di7, good night all!
i'm only a wannabe brit
I meant that in a kind way
One of my favorite film festivals (I work most of them as a volunteer) is the American Indian FF. I was so startled to realize that that was what they called themselves and had never done otherwise. Renaming things and people to be polite, kind or modern is not a wise thing to do. Ask any of my black acquaintances what they think of African-American.
well, britain and other countries were big bullies before we were. but at least they now recognize that that was bad.
You and I does not = U.S.
when it comes to voting, well, kimmy... i mean... at this point, voting is a bit... too late. with the supreme court as it is, and the ages of those justices on it, the US government is not going to be meaningfully changed anytime in the near future. and therefore climate change will not be stopped, and there will be suffering on an unprecedented scale, for the world's poor. it has already begun.
the U.S. government does not wholly represent me or my feelings towards other countries and they may or may not know that.
Bye jess. was that fireworks or did you just give up? It's a silly grid.
right, kimmy, i think people know that the US is polarized and they don't think we all agree with the gov't.
well that's drab
good morning all
Truth in slogans: Think Globally; Act Locally!
Hey, how's the cast, girl?
it is half purple, half red :) And being able to walk a little on it is a blessing.
I really am trying to be positive.
Wait a minute, Sprite. Is that the cast or your LEG?
when it comes to Indians, jwr - i told my students that the american indians were the result of the mistake of columbus thinking he'd reached india, and i also told them that many native americans use the term for themselves and are perfectly comfortable with it. and then one of my students whose heritage is from actual India said, well it may not bother them, but as an Indian, it bothers ME!
no, just the cast, no worries. My leg and foot are slowly returning to skin colour. Still purple toes, but not black anymore.
Good, sprite. Bad for Indian (would that be Indian-American?)
native-american indian of indian decent?
positive thinking is necessary to avoid suicide. but when it comes to reality... if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
Messing with other peoples' names for themselves is not right.
Oooh Sprite, you have no idea what you just jumped in the middle of.
and it all started with blasted DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME
(this conversation, i mean)
*giggles* Well, to me, people are people first. Persons. Whatever their heritage, they deserve my respect. SImple as that.
I missed something,When did we start on "reality"
oh, wait, I am against daylight saving time. Very much. :D
reality is highly overrated
ks killed
i mentioned the reality of climate change, and the reality that it is now not going to be stopped in any meaningful way, and that billions upon billions of poor will suffer and die.
Yeah. See? What is the Netherlands going to vote if the Euro Union brings it to a vote>'
no-one knows beforehand, lol
no real change is coming from any f***ing vote.
the 2016 election was pretty much the last chance
Ah, climate change. You mean those planetary alterations in the atmosphere that happen every thousand years or so that we have no control over> Wheere is my queestion mark/
IF we could have gotten a better court, then we'd be set up for possible change. even that would probably have been too slow.
yes, earth bounces back. earth will be fine. it's the people who happen to live on it i'm concerned about.
try control + shift, jwr. You may have switched keyboard configurations.
Change can happen.
Nothing you can do but it's nothing to be depressed about either. Look at Sprite walking funny!!!
We just won't see the results of it in our lifetime.
billions of people dying is nothing to be depressed about?
*hobbles proudly through babble*
being depressed about things doesn't help either.
That was my point Kimmydee. It can and it does and it will go on doing so.. No, hurshy, it isn't. I spent three years in the interior villages of South India way back in the 60s to find that being depressed or feeling sorry for people helped no one, lease of all yourself. If you want to help, go do it.
cooee and g'day to all. {{{{{spritey}}}}}}
See See??? I found it Right under the little finger of my right hand.
*hugs rose* Hello my dearest friend. How are you and your beloved today?
very good, jwr, so proud of you :)
peace and love, kimmydee and hurshy. Hi rose. Bye All
it doesn't HELP, in one sense. but there was a doctor who episode this year - Demons of the Punjab. there was a group of aliens who traveled time and space, as the doctor does. they had formerly been assassins but were reformed. and all they did was, they went to places were bad crap was going down. and they were witnesses. that's basically what it's about for me at this point. i'm not going to ignore it. i'm going to see it, and bear witness. i'm unfortunately not well equipped to help. so i feel bearing witness and seeing the reality is all i can offer the world.
we are better thanx. have been to church. felt so low i wanted to burrow back under this morning. made myself get up and glad that i did so.
See you later jwr
aw sweetie, well done. What made you feel so low? Pain and the infusion wearing off?
Bye jwr, *hugs* and keep up the good work. With ??? and all.
you got it in one honey. close to tears most of the time. good news though. i have heard back from Els in Belgium.
oh wooooot that is wonderful. THough I am sorry about your pain. *healing vibes to your spirit and body* What did Els say?
apparently her mum is 95 and going strong. i am hoping to pick up a few of the loose ends and knit them into the family tree.
on a side note: this is one odd grid
oh wow. Are you two gonna meet up while you are here?
you betcha. and i would love it if you were to tag along.
Last bit. hurshy - of course you're equipped to help. But not by being depressed worried anxious or impatient about it. Just pick the way you can help and will - this sounds strange but really -- enjoy it and you'll know when you're making a difference. Nobody needs pity. Except maybe those who are trying to finish this grid. Now "poof"
oh! Never thought of that. I'd like that. If I can travel, I will!
i'm helping SOME people - as a teacher. but i'm not helping those who need the most help.
if all of us do our little part, hursh, the world as a whole benefits immensely.
for those of you watching this chat Els' grandfather was the brother of my grandfather. we have never met, and ntil 2 years ago didn't know each other existed.
sure. but things being better than the worst they could be doesn't mean that on balance they're not still more bad than good.
just ask the native americans.
btw, Rob will leave in the last week of May to Sweden for a canoe symposium. I have decided to stay put, first of all because he really needs some HIM-time, not having to worry about me or anything else. But also because you and Don may still be here then. I won't have a car that week, though.
hmmm, well we may have to hire one for a week, hopefully one which you can drive.
*smug* And I am the one that found her! Through sending letters to people with that specific name. Amazing how things sometimes work out.
OMG - Hurshy - PLEASE stop being such a SJW!!!
You cannot bleed for everyone.
am gonna exercise like mad once the cast comes off, honey, hopefully it will be enough so I will be allowed to drive by the time you arrive.
labelling me as something is not an effective counter-argument.
hurshy, we have a saying, can you finish it? sticks and stones may break my bones.....
no labels, hursh, you are a great person with a big heart. I hear you and I kinda understand.
I don't wish to argue with you.
well, words can hurt too. But only if we let them.
Differences of opinions should be celebrated.
exactl sprit. and hurshy, with us by your side, those words are NEVER gonna hurt you.
true, but not by calling names, Kimmy. Babble is a community of very different people and that is a true blessing.
they don't hurt me. they just don't do anything at all.
I was not trying to offend. If someone finds the term Social Justice Warrior offensive that is on them.
good for you, hurshy. xoxox
kimmy, that's a cop out. it's something you were begging me not to be, therefore, you clearly think of it as a negative.
ok then
you've got me
i'm mot angry with you about it.
yes, it is in the way you use a label that it can become calling names.
*not
do you all need your safe spaces now?
stop acting so offended
if you have something to say - say it still
see sprite ??
you're the one who seems to want a safe space, kimmy, where i don't mention the sad parts of reality.
I think we just did, kimmy. If you feel that is defensive, all good. We prefer our discussions to be respectful and without namecalling.
I see, honey
I can handle reality just fine.
then why ask me not to talk about it?
I prefer to discuss reality, and I think that you do too Hurshy.
I didn't ask you NOT to talk about it Hurshy.
then what exactly did you mean by asking me to stop being an SJW, if not to stop pointing out all these negatives?
Obviously, you can say whatever you like.
no way this grid has 99 words of which 3 are 7s.
the human race has an odd conundrum at its heart. people do better by being optimists, under most circumstances. yet researchers have also found that pessimists are more realistic than optimists.
good saying Hurshy
the majority of the species are optimists. and it's better so. but i'm not one of them, unfortunately.
optimists believe we are living in the best world possible. Pessimists fear that is true.
That's a bunch of horsesh*t Sprite.
isn't that from Candide?
if you say so. I say it is a nice joke.
But, as an optimist, I understand how you have to believe that that is true.
I think so, hursh
Voltairian horseshit
" If someone finds the term Social Justice Warrior offensive that is on them." No one uses this made up term unless they're trying to be insulting.
good manure for our babble garden, at least
a very close friend of mine is a pessimist. it doesn't matter what i say, she will argue black and blue that i am wrong. i love her dearly, and am glad she likes me enough to use me for a vent, knowing i am not going to judge her and allow her the right to say what she does,
hiya REG, indeed
listen, for me, there are two main facts. one, i am a follower of Christ. who did bleed for everyone. two, i am a pessimist. i can and will mourn with those who mourn. i am not saying you need to do that, it's just what i'm choosing. but i also won't apologize for occasionally bursting optimists' bubbles with some tough realities.
you have the right to be who you are, hursh, without any doubt. And I for one love you the way you are.
i'm a cassandra, no doubt about it
what sprite said hurshy xoxox as you know.
lol... hursh... I am.
lol - that's right, i forgot!
:D
ooohhh, if you only knew how close you are hurshy.
The term SJW word would only be considered offensive by certain individuals. Not sure why that was offensive to you.
but i meant the greek myth one lol
she does, rose. We met, IRL, over tea.
and around we go AGAIN !!!
I know, hursh. And yeah, I think you are. Which can be rather frustrating.
Conservatives find that offensive.
i make up for my cassandra moments by being extremely silly and entertaining the rest of the time
no we are not, rose. It takes two to tango. So let's twist again... like we did last summer...
sorry kimmy, i didn't follow. conservatives find what offensive?
silliness is bliss
okay... while you start, i'm off for another glas of sangria. *grin*
make sure you bring me one too, woman. No hogging the sangria!
phantom: partition
You can't go off on a tangent about U.S. Native Americans out of the blue when the whole discussion started about daylight saving time and not be expected to be called a SJW.
wow, is that a law I didn't know about?
it wasn't out of the blue, for me. you see, DST makes me irrationally angry. and when i feel angry, the neuronal pathways about other things that make me angry are more easily activated.
scary
that's how human brains operate.
*grins* now that I can relate to, hursh. DST does that to me too.
and i don't object to being CALLED a social justice warrior. i only object to being told to stop being one.
i hate the way i lose a whole hour of sleep.... loll. sorry, i'm being facetious.
if it was made up as an insult, i don't care. if i were to be a warrior of any sort, i can't think of much better to fight for than justice.
and that is the perfect summary of what we all have been saying.
love that word.... facetious.... all the vowels are in the correct order....
rose I hear ya! Having to wake up before I am done sleeping, having to eat before I am hungry, having to go to bed before I am sleepy. Whole system messed up.
you can prop it up any way that you want.
so generous, kimmy!
it appeals to OCD....which i don't like... it should be CDO with the letters in the correct order
your face has facets that are facetious
exactly, rose, was just thinking of that one.
*giggle* hurshy, now you got it...let's play
i'm sorry, kimmy, once again i don't follow. "prop it up"? your pronoun's referent is unclear to me.
let's face it, unless we are face-to-face, it is hard to say when we are being facetious
Does this make you all feel better?
oh lord.... lolll
granny, you must like 'facetiously' even better!
didn't realise I had to be made to feel better
oh, nice one
ooohhhh, i didn't realise. the sometimes vowel is there on the end. how delightfl
Clearly.
kimmy - yes, being silly does make us feel better. you shouldn't take it as a reflection on the other stuff, though - we often have different threads of conversation running through the chat at the same time, and people weaving in and out of them. it's not that they are trying to make light of the more serious conversation.
exactly. We are multitasking. We are women hear us roarrrrrrr
rooooaaaarrrr
Yeah - well U.S. national "woman's day" was Friday.
i think it was international women's day, wasn't it?
actually, a bit of light play often helps to make hard truths go down a little easier. My final paper in my study was on the merits of humour when dealing with hard stuff.
like shakespeare
he was a true master at it
maybe shakespeare was in touch with his feminine side.
or with his funny bone
or with many females' funny bones
lol
funny bone??? is that what you girls call your G spot?
a bunch of wolves you are in bunny or whatever else you are clothing
wait why are we wolves now?
I call mine "yeahhhhhhh that is it!"
roflollll
a wolf with a bunny bone
omg... sprite... *choking on sangria*
now now, no wasting good sangria, dear
well i am spitting it in your direction... did you forget to open wide?
must have slipped my mind, lol
guess the plaster is slowing yo down...
true, true. Stupid cast.
sending you a sling for your foot. tie it around your neck. Rob will love it.
sort of facilitates accessing that funny bone
huh? don just admitted i was right about something. should i check his temperature do you think?
so... revenons a nos moutons... would love to join you when going to Els's, rose. Let's see if we can make it work.
hm yeah, I would. Put a wet finger against his forehead. If it sizzles, call the doctor.
oh good grief. un7 was my last word and WHAT a ridiculous one it is
just when I had decided there couldn't be any long UN words :(
and WTG hurshy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WTG HURSHY !!!
i mean why wouldn't you just say "quiet" ??
or quieter..
ah, thanks hursh
it's very 1984
hey hew one !!
better a gram than a damn
unnoir, someone who is blonde
lol
someone who is not a natural blonde
untot = adult
love it hurshy.
adding them both
mk, well, ttfn all :)
enjoy your day/eve hurshy. lovely chatting with you honey.
*hugs hursh* sleep well, and have a good day
2nd 7 accounted for, one to go
do you have di7?
yes I have. And the one hurshy clued
pa7?
that must be the one. Is it a fish?
yup
okay *looking*
thanks honey, found it
descriptive of a born resident of a country
yay you !!
Someone asked me why I stopped playing this game. The reason is that it just really starts to bore me after a while.
*sigh*
you too??
so comforting.
:)
how can i get bored with the spirited chat ?
never bored here
Yeah Sprite - you're only still "hopped up" from the last thread.
i am a self-admitted wordaphile. i'm sure there is another word for that... lexincologist ?? perhaps
love it
sure kimmy, I am certain you are right
i told you before, i think, kimmy. sprite and i are friends in real life. coupled with a word game which we both like lot and you have entertainment in spades.
it's so obvious, actually.
plus we both enjoy the ability to 'talk' in real time to places all over the world.
Granny - I don't think that your relationships with anyone matter to me at all - no offense.
not gonna justify my love for this game or community, nor my incapacity for boredom
*shrugs* none taken
cool
but then i have a thick skin and the tolerance level at the high end. the only time i have negatively reacted to anyone here was to a bully who delighted in belittling everyone, plus openly 'cutting and pasting' things said in private emails into this chat room.
please do tell then Granny....
please don't, lolllll
oh no kimmy. not gonna do that. at the moment the bully is retired to it's corner.
Sprite has claws as thick as a dragon
and so do you Granny
cute
yup, have been called horny quite a lot...lolll
argghhh
it is a hard claw but it is the claw
Well, ladies! What is going on here?
*hugs Kam* nothing much, dear one, just a bit of labelling and namecalling
{{{{{{ KAM}}}}}}} how are you both? how is the dad-in-law doing?
I just popped in, so I'll send some big hugs to my friends sprite and rose and say hello to kimmy
Dad not answering phone :( Probably forgot to charge it.
awww poor man
oh dear. that's hard. can you call the facility and ask them to jolt his memory?
brb, need to visit bathroom
mind you, i really shouldn't talk. i am constantly leaving my phone in THE handbag... you know... the one with an interior light.
We're hoping he actually joined some activities...Michael's son will check in tomorrow.
This stuff seems personal. Maybe email eachother instead of this? Test message maybe?
My phone died today too...first time since it refused to reboot last month...fingers crossed that the charge wakes it back up without "extreme measures" - like buying a new phone!
It's public chat, Kimmy
it should only need you to enter your password kam. i have to do that all the time.
So, that means you want the response from the public?
My phone is really old - last time it wouldn't boot, it took "extreme measures"
Kimmy - I don't care if anyone responds, I'm chatting with sprite and rose
ouch Kam, that sucks :(
Guess what - you are rude
No - you are not just chatting with two people
nope, she is Kam.
who we love to see and chat with! :D
I'm typing in a public chat. I don't care. Sprite and Rose are my friends, and we connect here usually. We're all on separate continents, and I'm lousy at checking email
well check your email please dearest kam
no need to justifiy anything, Kam. Not worth it.
Kam - that is the worst excuse that I have heard in my entire life. LOL
sprite - so happy to hear you can put weight on both feet! That was good news!
Kam, If it is an old phone after a while the battery will not hold the charge.
and me kam? did you see that my 'cousin' in Belgium is going to meet up with me for the first time?
Hi Zooz! I know...it's getting close to being a dead phone
ahhhh zooz... my main man... well second after Don. xoxox
Rose, which cousin? I couldn't figure out who Fang is...I know I've been gone from chat this time of night for weeks...
It will say 100% then 5 mins later it will be flat.
how are the parentsdear friend?
About the same :-(
lolll.... fang is Don's older sister. Els grandfather is the brother of mygrandfather. i never knew about her until 2 years ago.
dear zooz *hug*
oh, zooz. holding you all in my heart and prayers.
((Kam)) ((Rose)) ((Sprite))
*smug* see the rose between two thorns... lolll
LOL in no particular order!
hahaha
lol just got dressed for the meeting. A real shoe on my right foot *YAY* and a walking cast shoe for my left one *YAYx2* I feel like I can take on the whole world
darn, dinner ready. love and hugs to all.
like a pearl set in gold, sweetie
yay sprite!
enjoy, darling. See you later in email. We have planning to do!
enjoy dinner, dear Rose
Granny - you have some Game of Thrones type sh*t happening in your life. It happens. No one wants to ever admit that.
Nice, Sprite! You are healing fast!
oh yes. Am doing all I can to make sure I can get around when Rose and Don are here. I do exercises within my cast, lol.
Good. I am sure with that determination it will happen!
Sounds like you're healing really well - good news! I spent 6 weeks off my foot after surgery - Michael borrowed a wheelchair and we went to museums - we forgot the brake once and I almost rolled into the street - a palm tree stopped me, lol!
the plastermaster said people like me heal the fastest. Somehow the humour and optimism seems to mobilise good healing in bodies.
we have a wheelchair here too, must be in it in about 10 mins. But I intend to leave it behind in a week or two more!
I love the "plastermaster" term - here the doctors put the casts on.
lol oh dear, Kam!
they are called 'gipsverbandmeesters' here, which just happened to translate into this beautiful word plastermaster. They are doctors who specialise in casting
thank God for palm trees :)
"Korf' a posh person saying cough.
It was a beautiful tree! Kept me out of the road - gads, that was so funny - after I caught my breath
A masterplaster sounds a little dirty to me
lol
added it, zooz
hiya ru :)
Cool!
Masterplasters tend to cast off all the time
wth is a tu6?
dialog is still a bit drab....
of course, a coin...'an aluminum-bronze or cupronickel coin and monetary unit of the Mongolian People's Republic, equal to 100 mongo.
i am well overdue for sleep
don't let the door hit you on the way to bed, kimmy
I only have the plural.
you are too kind bunny
there is a tu6 singular too and it is a monetary unit. Need I say more? :D
I know. My besetting sin.
I had a pet rabbit once.
fireflies. Must to, to meeting, very much enjoyed catching up with you guys. *hugs* to my friends. And to you all, a blessed day and a peaceful night.
It died.
Wishing you a lovely day, Sprite! *Hugs*
Take care, Sprite! Good to talk to you.
Did anyone hear that Hurshy is dead?
I just got an email
the email said that Hurshy was DEAD
I did NOT murder Hurshy. If the glove don't fit you must acquit and I was with the bunny and the Sheep Person the entire time.
What a hateful person you are, Kimmydee.
I hear that...
Hey, rbud! Good to see you!
Well 41 left..Not finding it an easy grid. Need to get going. Happy babbling everyone! Kimmydee, why would you say such a horrible thing?
Trolls live on attention. Good morning everyone else! It's very windy here, and this grid is a challenge so far
I'm stuck at 41 left too, and calling it a night.
forgot about the time change, just gasped at how late it is, haha
We don't change here for another couple of weeks or so
tutors
oops sorry
l'm a troll, foldy roll, and l'll eat you formy supper
l'm becoming a child again, remembering really old stuff.
Bonjour!
tuto
Hi Ruby
sorry, l just started and Don't even have one word.
Hello California friend!
Heading back to bed … and hopefully sleep :D
back
did the time change in the US?
Yes it did. Hooray for the time of more light.
For once the cats woke me up at a decent time.
more light?
Lighter in the morning, supposedly. Here it is dull and raining :)
Since France is farther north than there, the long days are longer, but the short one are dark
very dark!
I am ready for them to get rid of daylight savings time, it is not necessary.
I'll sign your petition, sukee
l've tried to write twice & erased bith. DST is a PITA, just creates unnevessary confusiin
Exactly
Okay, i have 45 left to find. Break time.
In the Spring, it is lighter longer at night here. At first. Then it gradually becomes lighter in the morning.
The only logical reason I have heard for maintaining daylight savings time is school kids. But it works to their disadvantage this time of year. It was already light at 6?30 AM. Now that we have adjusted the time, it will be dark again for about a month.
It was also brought in in UK as a response to cut use of fuel and candles for lighting. Why waste good sunlight.
tirn
actually granadan i believe it was brought in during the war for the farmers to have more time to harvest and plants crops.
I know in the US it was originally intended for farm kids, so they could help with the crops before school started.
http://www.bbc.com/future/story/201603\n10-the-builder-who-changed-how-the-wor\nld-keeps-time Maybe in US but over here it was a fuel issue. In 1947 with severe fuel shortages, it was even changed by 2 hours.
If anyone wants to use that link, take the /n's out first
Sorry \n

Oh goody, I love the PB
Lots of goodies stocked up for you, Molly...enjoy!
... is it a penalty if you use the plural and only the singular is in the grid? I didn't think so ...
Most of us are babble friends soit is all good. Plus with grids like this I happy to take any free words going lol
I love the word RO 6/27 always reminds me of a bad stomach ache!
Evening all, any clues please for the first three ro words...I just can't get them...
Anybody???
RO 4/4, plural ,RO 6/27 compound word, RO 4/4
ro6 is "cheap and inferior liquor" (named for the effect on your innards).
Sorry flask I was watching a music video on youtuby
thanks to you both....I have now found the ro6...but it appears its 2 x ro4's am missing
Think of a work shift pattern.

All the ro words start with the same three letters.
RO + ** be or not ** be.

Ri + vowel + short word for thanks.
Plural.
Just found them thanks zooz....Fireworks for Flask....
So how are you Zooz?....and your parents, how are they?
I am okay parents are just about okay.
I haven't been on much lately
Thanks for asking. How are you doing?
Congrats on your fireworks!
Am ok....however am going thro' a bit of a dilemma with my life-style...
thankyou!
I there anyone close to you who you could confide for advice?
Is*
I think as we get
I do have family but but not really for talking to....
Nobody told us getting older could be so difficult
Older our bodies are not as good at doing what it used to so life style changes are in order.
I agree with you zooz....but doesn't make it any less painful....
Is it medical or home life style changes you are thinking?
Homestyle due to my disability
I have lived in this house for twenty years with the support of carers...
My carers got older at the same rate as me...and I only live in a wee town....so the pickings have been poor...
So you are looking for new carers?
This past year I have been depending on Agency carers...a different one every month and believe me its not been easy...
No am not....because I have a weight problem
people find itdifficult to manoeuvre me for personal care etc.,
Can your doctor not organize a bed hoist?
You could ask your doctor if he can recommend an organization that specialises in care for the heavier patients?
so I have decided to put myself in a home of some sort, but a home that deal entirely with physically disabled.....I do have an overhead hoist...but the carers I have been getting don't have the experience or are intimidated by it
Is this the right thing to be doing, I have no idea....I'm heart-broken thinking about it
So they do not have the experience. That sucks.
Most of them have been African....and the language difference can be difference....
They are the cheapest agency going....I can't get any more money...
((Flask)) Discuss it with your doctor. I bet he/she could give you advice about how to go about it. And might have simpler ideas that could work for you.
If you have a disability then surely the nhs pays for it?
I do have a meeting with my Social Worker on Tuesday afternoon...so am hoping/praying that she can come up with something else
Yes I am severely disabled..polio..and Post Polio Syndrome....but the SW purse strings are VERY tight
I so hope so, Flask. Do not be afraid to ask questions and for things you would like to be done.
Thanks Zooz for listening to me.....
Take a tip from me, Flask . If you do not make a fuss then you will get nothing.
Make a fuss and tell them things need to change you want and deserve a better quality of life.
Yes I know,.....but I have found it difficult all my life to stick up for myself....not a great quality, I know
I hear you, Flask. But like you said things need to be better than they are now.
True!
Story...
Dad was really ill over Christmas....
They left him on the ward for a few days and he was getting weaker...
told rthem they are just leaving him there to die...
Told them in no certain terms to do something NOW....
They did the doctors came down drained his lungs etc and within a week was ready to come home.
They did the doctors came down drained his lungs etc and within a week was ready to come home.
Just goes to show when you stand up to them, they hear you loud and clear!
Exactly, Flask you can do it too.
Oh, I hope so
Sorry for typing slow am on the xbox and it takes an age.
Anyway, thankyou for caring (((Zooz)))...and for giving me your time....
((Flask)) Anytime.
What are you playing the XBox?
When not doing babble it will be gems of war.
Or youtube music etc.
Way over my head...lol
Do you use headphones?
Laptop and a cup of tea does not mix.. So xbox it will have to be untill I can afford another one.
No I prefer speakers.
Oh dear...I spilt coffee right over my last laptop so I bought myself a Samsung Galaxy instead, and I hated it, so my baby brother bought me my present laptop...its so much better
Yeah Galaxy no good you cannot download music to them.
You know what I used to love to do was to listen to radio gold on a Sunday morning volume full blast and singing my wee heart out....
LOL good for you!
by the end of the programme I was absolutely exhausted...lol
With a laptop you can listen to any radio station in the world!
Ah but you felt better for it :-)
Yeah,they're so much better....
Can I just ask, before I go, how is Dad now?
Frail but holding on. He gets annoyed as he sleeps most of the time bless him.
Does Mum keep well?
Not really she has diverticulitis rather bad.
I have from conversation on the chog that you are their carers?...am I right?
Dad had partial heart failure so not sure he will fully recover.
Yes that is correct, Flask.
Och thats a shame....I hope he does make a good recovery
Thanks.
Ok.....nearly my bedtime...so am gonna let you go Zooz, and again thankyou......I've loved chatting with you.....goodnight Zooz....x
((Flask)) Be strong for yourself.
Nice chatting to you too. Hope other babblers did mind me hogging the chat.
Lol...we were both hogging it...lol
I too will go. Happy babbling everyone!
