Thanks, lickety!
Good Night & Happy Babbling, Everyone. I need my sleep tonight.
What do you call a pig that does karate?
Yeah - that was sad.
apologies kimmy. was deep in the grid. what do you call a pig that does karate?
oh i just worked it out. a pork chop??
a pork chop.
it was just a very corny joke.
lolll... good one.
well i'm still grinning..
I almost thought the whole babble crew was iced over.
nah. when a grid like this one appears one simply cannot stop. the words simply fly off the keyboard.
Not for me!
I am stuck :/
can i help? or would you rather potter?
I guess it an acquired talent?
I wouldn't know where to start to ask for help - but thanks anyway.
pretty much have played every day since March 2007
I meant seeing the words in the grid are an acquired talent - I want to be careful with my words.
sad isn't it? i might be addicted...
No, it's not sad.
kimmy, do you know how to access licket's list? or do you like to just work your way through?
If something feels challenging and rewarding that is a good thing.
So funny about the Lickety list. When I first started playing I had know idea about it.
Hi all. Hey Rose - just emailed you!
Everytime I try to use that list I feel like it makes it even more complicated.
ah thanx lizgirl. {{{{{lizgirl}}}}}
uh huh !!
Profile too :)
wow. It's walkout. I started to look over the archives to see why you all might be behaving out of the ordinary and I saw something where I was call a "sock puppet".
I had to look that one up. I am not that at all. Who would even care that much to try to infiltrate Babble of all places?
not sure what is going on, kimmy.
It seems like a walkout to me.
I don't want to dare make a joke that they up and died -
hi all!!! looks like I may have missed something.
ah well. let it go. and enjoy the grid.

not a lot diz. how's the weather over there? any cooler?
rose, nice here, bit of rain and the forecast said a month of rain in 24 hrs is coming, so I won't be going anywhere

*hugs rose* Hello my dear friend! How was your day, and how are you and the Donster doing?
doing okay. took one with the lot after lunch.. magnesium, valium, endone, CR oxy, panadol osteo x 2.have done two loads of washing, and don has the done the shopping. so all good. how's my bestie doing?
hm not a great day painwise for you then. *gentle hugs* I am doing okay. Bit of bad dreaming last night, but that is not uncommon after overdoing stuff. Feeling okay now, just took my morning meds and shot and am now ready for a round of babble with my bestie :)
ugh on the dreams.
yeah. I dreamt among other things that Tim said he wished I were dead, and accused me of wanting to steal his money. For the life of me, I cannot figure out what brought that one, LOL
yesterday, some of the ladies at hydro were very interested in the ankle floaties i wear while exercising. they said... you work very hard at your exercises. it was nice to have the effort i put in acknowledged.
aw that is sweet :) And right they are.
now that is the exact opposite of the truth. pain will do that t you.

hey, Rob told Don he wasn't leaving until the 30th. has he got his dates mixed up?
okay, might have been a change in plans either way. I asked Rob and he said probably on tuesday. But Rob is as changeable as the weather, which is saying quite a bit in our climate here, so it may have moved up. If so, we can drive you to Schiphol, no doubt.
was just wondering is all.
if I can drive by then, I will take you, even if I have to borrow a car. If not, I will try and borrow a car with driver attached, lol. I have lovely old neighbours who will gladly help if they are free.
Rob is a darling. But doing some concrete planning with him is not easy. He changes his mind often and expects all around him change along with it, lol.
or know by osmosis that he has changed his mind??
yep, you got it. It took me a lot of years to learn to make my own plans and if they are important to me, to stick to them. Rob is fair, so when I tell him well too bad, love, but I planned based on your plans and I am not rescheduling, he will say that is reasonable. Most of the time.

Happy Pi Day everyone.(3/14) Pretend you can't spell and order a piece of pie.
I gave up sugar (and bread!), for Lent - - I guess I'll celebrate Pi day after Easter.
Ummm I think pi day is tomorrow? Today is the 13th
And so it is. I am a day off.
Always trying to hurry Friday along. That's me.
But why not celebrate today AND tomorrow!? I mean, it's PI or PIE after all :)
I could go for some KEY LIME PIE my fav
I'm all about pie, whatever the reason. I wish there was a good diner around here. They always have good pie.
tomorrow is my birthday! we always have pi(e) to celebrate!
Any clue for the ir6 please

hi, folks
Morning, welki
Thank you

morning all! can I have just the stats for the corner R?
Maybe ra4?
I just got it but not sure which r...
<<-- would try to help, but can never figure out what word comes from which letter and always ends up giving the wrong stats
ri6/24
thanks vicuna got it!
and ra5/10, I think
Me too, welki
Thanks, vicuna
got both!
got to 100 - off to work, thanks Vicuna and all cluers
My pleasure, dan2bit.
In principle it isn't hard to figure out which tile a word comes from, but it certainly can be confusing when there are lots of possibilities.
it is definitely harder to reverse engineer the origin tile from a full or partial list of R words than it is to figure out how that particular R (3rd of 4 in grid order) could make a ra5/10 or a ri6/24
I had trouble with that corner R too. One of them is a sewing word and I am so NOT a sewing person. : )
One of my passions, Molly.
hi all. I see stats for that corner r but cannot find the words
the ri5/10 is a plural, if that helps
sorry ra5/10
no but thanks
ri6/24 ... think of two words ... one is a white seed grain used as food ... the other is a competition involving running faster than the competition ... drop the final letter from each word and stick the remainders together
ty dan
need help with bottom A and the A between the C's pls. tough grid for me. had a very horrible night. extreme insomnia and am very tired
... ra 4/4 ... babblet involving an r and three vowels ... the ra5/10 is the plural
tyty dose.
... at 4/5 ... a + to knock lightly ... and then plural for the at5/12
got one of the bottom A words
ty dose
... ac4/5 ... farm land measure
duh ty dose nbt finally
ae6 and 7 ... gymnastic move in the air
hmm

I am not getting the ri 6 from dose clue?
if you sew, it's like a trim you can put on things
my mom used to use it on my clothes in the 70s :D
its not la 4?
no, it's another one. it's kinda wavy
I know some things about sewing I am just not seeing what it could be
i gtg will be back...
to deconstruct the other clue, it's 2 syllables - first one is the white or brown food very common in Asian meals, then drop the last letter. the 2nd syllable is, think about a track meet, the running events can be called an ra4, then drop the last letter. Put those 2 together.

CA 5/14 and I'm guessing it's plural CA 6/24? Help please. They are my last 2 words.
nm Got 'em
grats, gramma
Ya for gramma!
got it thanks
clue gramma?
have a ca 5/14, but not sure if it is the corret one
and there is no plural
You can make the ca5/14 that's a Latin pl into an adj
Sorry, not a Latin pl. Let's back up...
Ohhh, yes it is, but just not of a singual that's in the grid...
je suis perdu
So, ca5/14 - ca+ home -- class + indefinite article
Add a consonant to make it an adj for the ca6/24.
only home I see is spanish and that's not it
home -- class was where you used to learn about sewing and cooking
or first two letters of the moon in front of the sun
home economics? -- no h

Relatively few people actually did.
And yet, he is President.
yes, there's that
it will be interesting to see if the us constitution changes any once this is over - I don't think anyone ever considered just how far an unprincipled person could or would go as things stand now.
I don't think th constitution would. It takes years to do that
I think they might have thought about it during the Nixon years Nan

Glad Manafort can't be pardoned on the state charges
He was hit with 16 new indictments today by the state of New York. Happened shortly after the second sentences were handed down.
Yep
Just not sure those indictments will stand up to double jeopardy protections as it's my understanding they're many of the same offenses for which he already stood trial in VA. Though perhaps the 10 counts on which the jury could not agree on a verdict are still up for grabs.
... double jeopardy usually applies only in the same jurisdiction ... two states ... two sets of offenses
tall
als
oooh sorry
no, the charges in VA were federal...
... but aren't the NY ones state? ...
yes. So the question is - can he be double charged for the same offenses - once at federal level and once at state?
Found the answer... The Fifth Amendment provides that no person shall be "twice put in jeopardy of life or limb" for the same offense. But for nearly two centuries, the Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that being prosecuted for the same crime once by a state and again in federal court, or the other way around, doesn't violate the provision because the states and the federal government are "separate sovereigns."
... they're not the same offense ... they only sound the same ... one is an offense against one act from one jurisdiction ... the other is an offense against another act from another jurisdiction ... they sound similar and may use the same evidence ... but their not the same thing twice ... .... at least that's my understanding ... but then I flunked out of law school so don't believe me
... the ruling from one court is not supposed to be used in evidence in any way to support the the charge in the other

In a message dated March 13, time stamped 1:49 PM Facebook posted this on Twitter: We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Apparently, Facebook junkies in many places are freaking out. : D
speaking of malfunctions, did anyone else have trouble with Babble Expert? When I try to use it, it won't load the word list or the chat and even though I completed the grid in Expert, I had to go back in through my browser and re-enter the words in order for them to be accepted.
the whole world can kiss my grits. it's that kind of day.
I just got Babble Expert working again after monkeying around with some things, so hopefully it will work okay for me tomorrow.
