good morning babble friends
goooood morning deeeeeeeeear friend....{{{{{{{spritey}}}}}}
*hugs rose* Hello my bestie! Lovely to see you. Just sent you an email back. Did you make it to hydro? And was Don's visit to the GP okay?
no hydro. THE bike needed an oil change.... definitely more important than hydro. lots of issues addressed by gp. so all good.
hm not sure about Don's priorities there, lol. But glad to hear GP's visit was good. How are you feeling?
have don looking for a pic of my walker. when he is happy with what he has found he will send it
lovely. I will find you one similar, I hope, and rent it for the month.
oo lovely, a grid with lots of series
gooo sprite. it was so much fun. i would sit looking at a tile and suddenly 4 words related.
words are flying from my fingertips, lol
even have an 8 and 12 x 7 already
*runs around with butterfly net* gottem... here you are
hehehe
any word from belgium or scotland yet?
nope. been checking at least 3 times/day
:( *puts a red pepper in their youknowwhats*
2x8, oh my.
lolll... nasty woman...
nah. It will make them go sooooo much faster!
3x8. Am on a roll! Even have a 9 now.
yay sprite
btw went to the meeting yesterday, then to a place where they built Tiny Houses, then had lunch, all walking with my one crutch. Made it too! Slightly overdid things but with the help of some painkillers, that was manageable. And had the loveliest of lunches. Might take you and Don there for lunch one day too.
sounds good
rose, as a nurse you will know this... my ankle... making gentle, tiny movements within the cast will help the healing, right, not harm it?
hmmmm. of course movement is good for the healing process but..... the skin rubbing on the plaster may cause small abrasions and that is NOT good.
oh, the plastermaster did a great job. My entire underleg is wrapped in soft layers of bandage, then a sturdier one, then a tube, and only then plaster.
the best thing you can do is wriggle your toes vigorously, and gently tighten the muscles and relax them with the foot completely supported. that's called passive physio. i have found that sometimes it doesn't matter how much padding there is ulcers/pressure sores develop.
okay, thanks honey, will do just that then
I need that ankle healed so I can drive in May! :D
honey, nobody wants that more than you except for me. not because you could drive a car, but i want you back in one piece.
well, that too, grin. But if I can drive a car, we will have so many more options. Easier to bring you home to your hotel rooms too. So... gentle movements. Frantic toe exercises. Tense and relax with legs on bed. Check.
especially the hamstrings(quads)which move the patella up and down. mind you, walking on the foot does help. but please don't push it.
no I will be careful with the walking, that I promise, honey.
watching a very interesting panel. apart from the "host" of the show, the other participants are all muslim women. they are making very good points.
okay honey
they have been spat on, pregnant women pushed to the ground. what is wrong with our world that these things are allowed to happen?
horrible. Respectless and deplorable.
ahhh, interesting question. who pays for the consequences of 'free' speech uttered by white supremists.
the problem with free speech is that it is heard by all... including the people who do not think for themselves and think all they hear is gospel truth.
but when is it appropriate to utter such phrases as White Supremacy ?in my view never. therefore i am averse to free speech/hate speech.
am i wrong to have this view?
surely it is every man/woman's right to say it as they see it.
the problem is to find the fine line between limiting the hate speechers and censoring freedom of speech. No, I do not think you are wrong, I think it is hard to do the former and steer clear from the latter.
you still with me?
yup
okay :) Hope I did not say anything wrong just now
no,no,no. thinking just how i can help to change things. suggestion is to contact my member of parliament and ask what he/she is going to do.
good thinking. Here, hate speech is not tolerated, and expressions of racism and such are punishable. But... again, those rules and laws are very hard to uphold. Because of the importance of freedom of speech. When is it okay to limit that and when do you go too far with it? Even politicians manage to get away with ugly speeches... like that sob geert wilders.
fi4flies. I had a ball with this grid. I do not mind the tight ones, but once in a while, a super fast flowing grid is such a pleasure!
*hugs* and lotsaluv, honey. Will leave you to your tv. I got the picture of the walker from Don, good man! Love and hugs!
WTG SPRITE !!!
enjoy your day dear friend. xoxox to you both, and an extra {{{{HUG}}}}}} FOR YOU.
Good morning fellow Babblers
Bonjour
lt's still very cold but NO RAIN! And today is the best l'v" fekt in a ong time
(still can't typ, though)
You've gotta love a grid that has sex and the brandy holder in it : D
sex and brndy -- hmm -- it's a ittle bit arly
early*
Never too early for the finer things in life : D
See you later. Bonne journée!
Happy journey to you too, Ruby
Bye, Ruby!
Hapy urim toall who celebrate and all who like hammentachen
*purim
Same to you! FINALLY got someone else to play Esther this year. I can retire my wig :-)
I love hammentachen
l used to ove the prune ones, but it's probably been 40 years since l've had one.
What's there not to like?
I'm going out on a limb here. Never been too keen on 'em. Prune, poppy seed... can't see it.
This place has the fewest Jews than any place l've ever lived.
Give me chocolate, lemon, strawberry... I'm in.
l Don't like Poppy seeds
get stuck in your gums
and as for prunes... too hard wired the association with grandma forcing me to drink prune juice very night
hallucinogens
Did you have a bubbie?
The closest synagogue is about an hour away ,in Aix-les-Bains.
I only like the raspberry ones. I'm not a fan of prune, poppy seed or apricot. I hear they make chocolate and s'mores ones now. I would try those.
We have a synogoue here in our town of 42 thousandd
l eat prunes with mozzarella; the cheese cuts the sweetness and l share a whole package with thz resident prince
Love aricot
We didn't call her bubbie... we called her bumaw. Think it was a combo of bubbie+gramaw.
They didn't have all those flavors when l was a kid
no, they didn't! That's why I never liked 'em :-)
I will not eat a prune unless you hold a loaded gun to my temple
Cute I am a bubbie. One grandchild is art Ukranian and calls hers Baba
Where exactly are you in France Ruby? It sounds kinda remote!
My grandmother was Nina the Red, a tried and true atheist. I calleed her Grandma Nina but my son called her Gaga Nina Pants because she sent him pants for his first birthday
l'm 10 minutes fromAnnecy, straight South (one hour) from Geneva.
l like the remoteness and the view from where l'm sitting is fabulous²
Are you on the lake?
The house is half way between the lake and the cliffs
Sounds very romantic!
We retired here as l'd Always wanted to live in France but then my breast cancer came back after 25 years and husband died of old age/Alzheimers 3 years ago
it was, at least for a while
now it's just me and my furry kids
Ugh Ruby. I had BC, dx 9 years ago this week. So far so good. So sorry to hear your situation.
l thought l was cured, had no idea it could come back
You're scaring me Ruby. But I do know that ER+ breast cancer can come back any time. The risk remains constant, it never declines.
my mom had breast cancer 3 times
The first time when she was 36 and we kids were young
l had no idea
I try not to dwell on it. Put it in my "portfolio of risks" along with driving on the Beltway.
OMG Bichon that is young
l can't drive any more -- too much oxy
Have you been tested for the BRACA gene. Neither my mom nor I have it
So do they deliver your groceries there?
We've not only been tested for BRCA, we actually drew our blood and sent it to Marie-Claire King who discovered BRCA. She tested 40 genes, all negative. Yet my mom, my sister, and I all got BC
Plus two of our cousins, one at age 28
My housekeeper does my shopping, "cle&ns" the house, and walks the dogs
Glad you have that support.
Not Marie-Claire, Mary Claire King
Natasha, it can happen. Peole in my Dad's family and a couple have double mastectomies and ovarectomies
l Don't know about the gene but there is a lot of canceron both sides of the family but, happily, not my sister and our mother died or stroke
I guess it's the price we pay for our nice lives and for living longer than our ancestresses. So many died in childbirth they didn't get the chance to get cancer.
Where was your family fromand when?
My late s.i.l. died of it. She was of Polish/German extraction. Died at 36
Driving on the Beltway is a bigger risk than most disease.
The care hereismuch better than it was in the US and the government pays for everything
(not household help) but the chemo alone costs about $700/month and a nurse checks on me every day
l trie havingme&als dlivered but they were terrible AND expensive
time for lunch. See you later
au revoir ruby

ferris is not in the dictionary?
I'm wondering why if se4/9 is a word, then why isn't one who does that a word
Because it isn't here meaning the modern slang. It's here as one of the medieval monastic canonical hours.
And Ferris as in wheel is a proper noun.
Far be it from me to say Enable is rational or consistent, but it does have its reasons more often than we give it credit for!
interesting. I thought they had added it to the dictionary in recent years, but maybe that not this dictionary.
left out "is". I can speak English!
I'm sure some dictionaries have added it, but the Enable version used by Babble hasn't been updated with anything at all in probably at least 10 years.
And it had plenty of random omissions even when it was supposed to be up to date, so it's never unreasonable to wonder what it was thinking!
I was thinking it was the same as the Scrabble dictionary. Not that I know what has been added to that in recent years.
I imagine that the official Scrabble dictionary would have charged Dr.God to use it, whereas Enable was free, as I understand it.
Well, must get ready to go. Enjoy the search!
I definitely remember this is Enable, I was just thinking it was same as Scrabble. I have been a member here a long time, but I'm just back after like a 4 year hiatus.
adios
well, I still have 53 left after first list pass through. not my babble day. I will go to Target and then try again later.
It's worth mentioning that the Scrabble Dictionary is updated every year. The Enable Word list has not been updated in 19 years.
