Is it just me, or does this grid have loads of babblets in it?

no, I didn't. I learned english from 12 yo on, at school. Somehow it clicked with me though. Of course, the Netherlands are so small that we need to speak english. And I read english almost exclusively nowadays.

My daughter has her kids in Dual Immersion -English/Spanish. They live in So California, so Spanish is a valuable language to know. I tried to get her to become fluent, and she finally did - as an adult. She now teaches English as a second language in high school.

awesome! I have been able to give my kids the same fluency I have acquired. Read english with them from very young ages, built it up and they both benefit from it still. Both are on international universities.
for my daughter it was easy, she is as alpha as I am. For Tim it was a blessing, he has no head for languages but he is fluent in english because of the early practise.

absolutely. My daughter enjoyed the english experiment so much, she continued with german. Read heaps of books in german. Started with harry potter, just like we did with english.
I took French in high school and college, but never became fluent - I've never known (anyone except the teacher) who even spoke French. I think I learned more Spanish from the jobs I worked when I was young.

I must say, this is my first official time to actually know how to spell the ga 4/8 and ga6/33 pair - though I've used the words many, many times. Things are always getting ga 6up and sticky (or just messed up) in my world, lol
I know I've told my kids before "you're ga4-ing that all up, ewww"

The definition says "Chiefly South Midland and Southern U.S." Which makes sense since that is not my area and I have never heard of the term.
