I have 41 of them, but thinking I'll call it a night, have 86 left in all
that's a lot of T's from just that one T

Thanks Rose. Groyne is also a structure on beach to prevent erosion. Used to see lots of them in Belgium when I was a kid.

John Prine...another great one has gone to The Big Show
:(
Covid 19
I'm glad I grew up in a generation that included great musicians. That surely is not the case these days.
There are still some musicians who will become great, they may not get the mainstream attention, but they are there.
Prine had complications of the virus. He had battled lung cancer and some other cancer I can't recall now.
A very Canadian word in the grid today.
The hat?
Oui
I always think of them as chef's hats, not being Canadian.
A little different than chef's hats
Sukee, did you get to the store?
I did, not as bad as I expected. I got there, there was no lineup, I got everything I needed.
I even got soap, and there was lots of toilet paper and paper towels that I don't need yet. The only problem was trying to fit everything into my walker and having place for the bags.
Good. You are safe at home again for a few more weeks.
Well technically, the white chef's hat with the band around the head and then bubble top (think Chef Boyardee) is called a toque. I guess it means several things.
And I will go rustle up some breakfast in the PB now.
Yes, I am good for two weeks.
I also went to a different store than I usually get my groceries from and the prices were so much better.
lol, Molly
'morning, folks
Hi welki
Morning, welki.
Okay, I have nbt, taking a break.
good morning. Feeling better today, no temp!
hi, phan - it's good to 'see' you again and glad you're on the mend
is it 'politically correct' to ask if you have/had covid?
I got tested yesterday. I wont know for 5-7 days
torent
opps
devil if you do/don't have it - antibodies would be nice for however long they last, but wouldn't wish it on anyone (emily post would have needed to write a whole new chapter on virus etiquette)
lol. yes she would!
How can they have the hat and not the Cr*monsieur?
yum!
good morning - wondered that myself :)
Zut alors, eh?
there is the game with the wooden balls cr7
Well, it doesn't recognize cr7 the verb that Cr* Monsieur is based on.
my favorite french expression is "Zut alors!" it's just so fun to say :D
all I can see is mad dog on the bottom. yes, I know there's just 1 d.
There are 2 d's
<-- knows what carla was drinkin' in the woods when she was a kid
not to make mad dog
Close enough to make it look like mad dog
lol, I actually never drank any of that, just rem. hearing tales of it.
more of a mateus girl? blue nun? boone's farm? ohh, those years! LOL
*Raises hand* Has drank MD2020
a trip to the 60's, welki?
I never did drink in high school. did have some boone's farm in college. still not a big drinker.
the best 10 years i don't remember
When I was in college, someone put a 6 foot image of the Blue Nun logo nun over the doorway of the all girls dorm. : D
BC - before children - twas wonderful
woot! q's quashed
I am so upset -- last week I posted instructions for making a mask on our clubhouse bulletin board and everyday I have been checking to see if anymore were needed and everyday the board was bare. Yesterday, when I went to check, both the sign to help yourself and the instructions were gone. When I looked in the recycle bin both the sign and 2 sets of instructions were there and torn in half. Who does that?
that is odd
just found a nice 80s word in the grid - ____ to the max!
:P
totally
gort
stats, carla?
oops
obviously I'm trying to make up g words
well nan, it's not a real word but the stats would be gr5/20
is it accepted in this grid?
no, anyone is welcome to type it in this box
Try a variation of the pelvic area
so what is the word?
grody to the max is the saying (for gross)
new one for me
thx, bea. would never have typed those
and I even had a houseful of teenagers in the 80's !
maybe it didn't reach canada :D
The tv show How I Met Your Mother had a running joke about one of the characters being a Canadian pop star in the 90s, but she was totally 80s - like 80s fashions, etc took that long to reach Can.
Good morning, fellow victims of the viral lock-down.
hi judi
Still one of the lone commuters Judi? It's like driving in a ghost town.
hi judi -- don't feel victimized - just be grateful you live in an area where the authorities are doing something constructive to stem this pandemic.
Very grateful, Nan. Hubby and I are healthy. Still have jobs. Are able to financially help those who are less fortunate. Could be a helluva lot worse.
I feel the same - retired, but financially stable
OMG!!! I greyed the T's...
wow
I did 5th col :D
wow bea -- that is an accomplishment
still need 10 on top and 5 from the other 2
have made it through the grid. got at least halfway on each tile except the 4th col e, lower r, & o. 77 left. pretty good for me. will keep looking!
A dear friend of ours who is self employed (cleans houses) and works part-time as a waitress at our favorite breakfast joint on the weekends was suddenly plunged into unemployment when this all hit. Plus, she is bi-polar. So, you can imagine the depression that hit her. We have been dropping off little meaningful somethings to her here and there. A grocery gift card, magazines, etc. She tells us it's too much. We tell her to shut up, etc., etc. We love each other to bits.
How nice, Judi.
that's really thoughtful of you, judi - keeping her comforted in these insane times
My oldest was just telling us yesterday that a kid a grade ahead of him OD'd. I don't know if it was intentional or not.
She loves sushi, but she's too freaked out by viral germs right now to accept a delivery of same.
hello
sup, mlfan
I am making pulled pork tonight, so I hope she will accept an offering of that from us.
i'm one of those, judi - i just don't know if the risk of food delivery is worth the reward (although i sure could use a day off from cooking)
do you have the western horse show, carla?
nope, thanks
We have survived several deliveries of verious cuisines, Welki. I say go for it.
halfway on that r now!
"various" rather. Oy, can't spell.
I'm with you, welki.
hi hokie
there are two or 4's from that o
If you are getting delivery, you need to make note of date and time and what you ordered.
In two weeks, you may hear that a working in that establishment contracted the virus.
bzz pb for you
ok, I only have oy4 from there, will try or4s
ok, I only have oy4 from there, will try or4s
just found og4, so there can't be 2 or4
ty - didn't have the oy
Judi, you are golden.
or 4
sorry I meant to say two 0 4's
og, or, oy
Oh, we are keeping receipts, Bea. And we are tipping really well. Some Door Dash guy showed up in what can only be described as a "composit car". It was a mish mash of different colored bumpers, quarter panels, etc. Guy was single-handedly keeping the salvage yard in business.
well it's not oreo,
The or is a 5, hokie.
duh, thx vicuna
much easier to see
darn - going to quit trying to clue now
that's okay :D
wow, just looked at my stats - I have 5/6 8s without even trying
I'm at least half way on everything except the d and the e next to it
and just need 5 7's
yeah, that e is tricky. I only have er4/6
4th column t stats pls?
that's the one I have too
OOPS E

Grody = 80's term of disgust.
just need 2 r's to gray out whole 3rd row
I totally tried it, sad enable doesn't think it's a word
Carla, the pop language queen already mentioned grody
ey 4 x2
oh, I thought she was just answering the question I posed
found tow 8 letter words!
Name that proper noun: Barry Manilow song.
mandy
oh that was obvious lol
i like that song
Ding! Ding! Ding! Carla wins a trip to Barry's residence show in Vegas (after the Pandemic is over).
wow, that's an incredible prize
Comes complete with barf bag.
:D
two free tickets?
Gotta buy your own, MLF. Barry's quite a departure from Meatloaf, though.
*sigh* i wish the snow and cold weather would stop already. this isolation gig would be so much easier to handle if i could do some of it outside (other than walking the dog)
Carla, Playtex Cindy was dressed in our meeting yesterday.
good!
lol udi that's true but Meat Loaf isn't performing anymore
just need 1 r from 3rd row now
True. Isn't his son doing some tribute shows?
I feel like I'm eavesdropping, since that comment was directed to Carla, but I'm glad bra lady put a shirt on.
just noticed - both the ao 5 and the ar 6 in the grid
ty cyber
haven't found the ar6
From what I heard, several people "spoke" to her after the first meeting.
wow, I tried to make ao5 earlier but didn't keep looking down
now just need 1 a
Wait wait. I must hear the back story about "playtex Cindy". Do tell.
There are some words I just write thinking they're probably there even if I don't see them... ao5 is one of them
well, I'm surprised the speaking to helped, bea. I could see someone taking that as a challenge to do it again.
natasha, I have told myself ma4 times to do that but obviously didn't
I had a Master Gardners meeting via Zoom last week. One of my lassmates showed up wearing just a bra.
classmates.
why bzz?
but don't forget to tell her what happened next, bea
Why what?
(o) (o) Uh oh.
just a bra?
is there a guy in the class she thought she could impress?
Was it a sports bra or a regular bra?
Oh, yes...Some one mentioned in the chat that she should cover the camera with a post it note. She left the screen and came back wearing a hat and still no shirt.
Or is there a special gardening bra that I'm not aware of?
regular, hence the name playtex cindy
LOL Bea!! Apparently there's been a lot of this on Zoom... many folks don't realize the video is ON
It was a regular bra. This is a 60 something woman.
Ye gods
Isn't there a way to block the visual on someone?
hi natasha
LMAO! I bet she was mortified.
Somebody actually used the toilet during an office meeting but forgot to mute the mike
bzz you cant unsee it huh?lol
I used a post it note to cover up her video...
"Separate but together" can go TOO FAR
bzz lol
Little work project to complete. BBL.
ya think Natasha?
bye judi
lol,lol - good one natasha
So many older folks have the camera pointing UP at their face... full frontal jowls!! Yowza. Make sure camera is level or above...
63 left. think I will eat breakfast.
i gtg too will be back...
I have 44 left. I'm done for the day. Sayonara, ya"ll.
if you can use t instead of ed on the dr 4/6, why not on the cr 4/6?
bye bea
I guess the same reason you can't use ruint, which I try every single time (like yesterday)
and thx nan, that was my last d from that one
lol - I still need one more
and PS - that reason is, there is no rhyme or reason
do you have da5/12 from there?
we don't use the t at all in Canada, so was just wondering
I thought the t for ed was a british english thing
I thought it was a US thing
lol
per this article it is more common in british https://tinyurl.com/s8crbrd
whew, finished top row a's
I only have two of those hokie
you have the 2 blood related ones?
not really any weird ones. there are 2 at6/18 that I would never really use in convo
I have ar and a ao
and ac4
cyber do you have the gr6?
I do, thanks to bea. lower pelvic/upper leg area spelled differently than you'd ever think.
thank you hokie!
thanks carla, I would have never seen that on my own
me either! apparently that spelling means a jetty to prevent erosion on a beach
don't know how I'll ever pull another 69 words out of this grid :(
newbie for me, ty hokie
I just looked at the grid and thought to myself oh that rhymes with the actual word lol
finished the bottom row a's! it's my greatest A achievement for me ever, and bea has left the building
down to 48 here
and how redundant am I? my greatest achievement for me. SMH
First go5 clue pls?
only one I have is pt of what a bull does
go 5/16 deity + the sun s**ts in the west
GO5 - higher being + ** go home
"Waiting for Go***".. saw it on stage a long time ago
that's the one I have too hokie
I saw it on stage at VT on my first date with mr. hokie, Aloy. what a snoozefest.
yes, it was a major snooze
samuel(?) beckett?
just need 1 g now
fw - can clue if needed
why isn't one who go4 a word??
hokie the one that was just clued is the one I need
thinks aloy falls asleep in a lot of theaters ...
ok, google that play
ouch, I missed the spelling Godot
Samuel Beckett, yes
you are correct! wrong spelling
Godot? That is kind of PB-ish
hey ru.. yes, I do !
I think the sp. here is a type of dress. I've seen that word in the sewing world.
umm yeah try spelling it differently then you can finish the g words
don't see it Molly, but close
I have that one, need 1 more
you're sounding like mkg hokie :D
hokie a 4 or a 5?
how? I never asked for the clue, got the word with the original clues
IDK what I need, mlfan because I'm not on the list
do you have the color, carla?
hah! nope
go 4 5 4 5
oh
because I never spell it that way
g's grayed ;)
thx, luv
yw :-)
I never know what the real spelling for that color is supposed to actually be
I think both are acceptable
if you click the link here it shows my sp. as the def.
am finally tackling the pantry.. everything off the shelves and clean, clean.. then organize. So much fun - I could possibly be bored, lol. Look forward to next Babble with you all.. hagd!
I did all kinds of decluttering, incl. pantry back in Jan. have fun, aloy.
this q is getting a lot of use I wasn't expecting
Okay you two party girls, slow it down some.
thought that ca 7 would be a plural, but no dice
mmmph -- a whore house
hmm, looking
got one, thx
*not touching that one*
not sure how that is a word when eatery is not
good idea ru -- don't think even wearing a mask would help
We had to be extra quiet about the sad passing of Ms. Feline Galore of James Bond films. Ssssh.
can't believe she was 90
not gonna do it
... she was 39 when Goldfinger was shot and that was a long time ago
yeah, I was surprised she was as old as she was
name that french painter featured at the d'Orsay
... manet
Goldfinger: 1964
bingo
... and a fantom pissaro
We can say Goldfinger, right?
surely
Okay, I wouldn't want to trigger anyone.
could you imagine if they tried to have a movie character named that in this day and age
no way would the censors allow it
... not after Mike Myers and Austin Powers 3
really? why?
I'm surprised it was ever allowed. People were using that word for that meaning back in the 60's.
camille pissaro is one of my favourites -- there was one he did of a lady and a little girl that I really liked
well yeah, paired with the surname it's obvious they were going for that
only a bunch of on the edge writers could come up with P Galore to begin with
I'm assuming it was in the Ian Fleming book but have never read any
... it was there ... I did read them
woot! finished with all the d's!
I read them all!!
Okay, I am in tears laughing. I am reading up on how the name was allowed. Apparently she was a part of the P Galores Flying Circus. Ahahahahaha!
are they good reads, Une and Dos?
interesting tidbit, molly
I was just thinking about you, une. my next to last d word was what we were talking about yesterday, yours being broken
... it was a long time ago ... I wouldn't think so now ... weekend cottage reading ... take two and you'll be done by dinner time
Alas, we here in these United States do not "go to cottage"
maybe what we would call a beach read?
... exactly
Yes, we do go down the shore.
we don't down here, that's NJ
Wow.... Bernie is out
really?
... But my aunt, the English teacher, caught me reading one so she gave me Le Carre's The Spy Who Came in From the Cold ... ... vastly superior ...
Hokie, at the time, we thought they were great!!
I think I read one Le Carre book many years ago but don't really remember it. and aren't you glad I shared that great story. ;)
The Democrats can hang it up. People are getting very conservative due to the current madness we are living in.
it is the republicans that were the cause of most of the madness
if they had got off their collective butts - oh no, they still need to do that - and done something earlier, things would be as bad as they are.
i'm disappointed that Biden is the candidate that the country can come up with for Democrats.. he won't be able to beat Trump
Might not be as bad as they are
is no one under 70 in politics anymore?
I'm talking about things like travel restriction and border control. And actually, it was people traveling abroad and that were responsible for the virus, not republicans or democrats.
Sorry, the virus spread
finally found the one r to gray out the 3rd row!
true - but it was the lack of action on the part of the government leadership that caused the massive spread of the virus - that and the lack of preparedness. It was trump that threw out the plan for response preparedness in regard to pandemics.
just finished the p's with po5. lol, did not expect that to be a word
Ru, I agree. I would love to see viable options for Trump from Democrats and Republicans. And not someone who is in their 70's.
I think everyone would like to see anyone who isn't tempermental, vindictive and with the moral compass of a 2 year old
I liked Cory Booker. I'm sorry he dropped out.
well, you would think that but somehow some people in this country still don't see that or mind
omg, made it to 20 left. 1 8 left if anyone wants to guess what I'm missing. :D

ah, one of the things we get vaccinated for
I always miss that
i am confused.. te 6 is something about Vietnam offensive or a exam?

its - stupid autocorrect doing it wrong
does it end in a?
no
no, with the sometimes vowel
okay go tit ty
torn
oops
and yes I already have that but noticed I am missing 5 4s so am trying everything :D
I do that too - and sometimes just the act of typing helps you see things you didn't see the first time through.
yep
need a break - 16 to go
I sometimes type things I know aren't words just to get the flow and think that if someone was a witness to what I was doing they'd think I was the stupidest person they ever met.
And then sometimes those fake words are words and I'm shocked.
yeah, that's the best
well, found a 6 while looking for 4's, just like you said
:-)
ooh. once i hit the r's i have all the 8's
yep, there are 5
last re 8 please?
still haven't found that last one, is it 8/40? have tried everything for that point total

just found a 4 that I know I tried earlier
9 left, gotta take the dog out
ok, back to r's, t's, & s's
there's another word I know I had
fireworks. a little disappointed in the ones I missed
if you can remove rodents, why can't you remove felines? (thoughts about de5)
you're going to get a bunch of hairballs thrown at you ch :D

That is a pretty dangerous thing to say in such a cat loving forum.
felines all my life are felines.... lalalala felines of loooooooooove....

Thats a whole lot of po words.... didn't even know I knew that many lol
Wow, the pictures from New York City are harsh. No one in Times Square. No one on the subway. Eerie.
amazing! go new yorkers, way to protect each other!
or they're all now afraid to go out and get sick
Probably both. New York City is the last place I would want to be hospitalized for anything.
I was terrified enough when we were in Secaucus New Jersey with a feverish toddler. Fortunately, a cool bath brought the fever down.
I can't believe it ... people are criticizing my governor for sending ventilators and masks to New York, New Jersey and other states. Like we should just hoard them.
You know how it goes, opinions are like....everyone has one. And some people have canonized themselves experts in COVID-19.
That's true.
hi all. just back from a 1/2 hour walk. lovely day here
help with last re8. did not get earlier clue
... old fashioned or from the past + the ending of an equine
ty dose
i think that was pretty cool on Newsome's part to do that where they're needed
Tx dos!!
I agree, Dorens!!
*waves hello with hands that smell like bleach*
Contrary to WH opinion Newsom ain't no idiot...
yes, he's actually looking a bit like a hero
who is Newsome?
Governor of California, peri.
ok ty
Most Democrat governors have been exemplary … ours is Republican and he moved too slow for my taste...
He sure isn't an idiot. He's very smart and he has great compassion.
to me, i think the governor who has risen beyond expectation is cuomo - what a mess new york is, and yet he's able to come across with compassion, reason and reassurance
agree on Cuomo, but don't ignore Inslee and Whitmer … they have been outstanding as well...
Agreed, welki. I feel fortunate to live in a state with a leader who is sane.
you mean other than sleeping with his campaign manager's wife though don't you?
inslee deserves a medal just for being the first governor who had to deal with the logistics of covid - whitmer has always impressed me in her support of her consituents
Yes, other than that, ru :D It was 15 years ago and he was separated from his wife at the time ... not that that excuses it.
... Just about the biggest surprise is Doug Ford in Ontario ... I've disliked his family and it's politics for forty years ... he made a mess of it on day1 but when his advisers all jumped in on day 2 and said he was mistaken he changed course completely and we're doing actually not badly on a per capita basis except for in the nursing homes and seniors residences unfortunately where some administrators have appeared to have made a tragic mess of things
and i loved the quote from 'that woman from michigan' - paraphrased, something like - you said you'd stand behind us, now prove it
don't forget KY's gov Andy Beshear. So far he's the only gov to force an Amazon warehouse to shut down for deep cleaning & that's something even Cuomo hasn't done.
i'm embarassed that i don't know much about gov. bashear
dos, even jason kenney has made a major turn around - not for nothing, i wouldn't want to be in any of their shoes
Beshear gives a daily update at 5pm, always factual & compassionate. Our previous gov, Bevin, was a Trump clone & even pardoned sex offenders before leaving office.
... yeah but somebody who is doing well and then screams that we've all got to do what he wants or he'll separate and then when things turn bad cries that we all aren't doing enough to save his industry and his province which is being hit hardest economically (which I doubt) just isn't going to get too much credit from me ...
fyi - empty ice cream containers (with covers) make excellent bleach/soap/water pails for the sink
I wish I had some bleach, or Lysol, or alcohol. I envision my house covered with Covid-19.
fair enough, dos. but i need to focus on the positive these days
lol ori
.... positive is always best ... true ....
in a pinch, cheap vodka/gin, ori
good hint, welki. Another is that 2 tbs bleach to 1 quart water poured over paper towel or cloth in a ziploc bag will disinfect for 24 hours. Bleach is in short supply at grocery stores but if there's a Dollar Tree near anyone they have plenty.
.... do you scrub with it or drink it?
<-- never mixes cleaning and alcohol
I'll have to do a liquor store run :D
don't buy smokes
... it's getting late ... the working crowd might be lining up by now
:D (the nag)
that's a LOT of bleach, weegee
(says the gal who pours what she thinks is 'just enough')
is that cleaning or alcohol welki?
Ru never lets me have any fun
LOL
corrects to : never mixes cleaning with alcohol
(because the cleaning would, then, never get done)
cigs are $15-20 a pack up here
In my experience, bleach and paper towels do not mix well. The paper towels usually disintegrate.
wow welki
i use J-towels, those blue and white ones our mothers would have hanging over the kitchen faucet
they should really be $150 a pack in my opinion
Are those like Handi-Wipes?
... they should not ... I use far too many of them to allow that price
Ru is talking about cigarettes, not paper towels.
i think dose is a smoker too molly :D
yes, can't find handi-wipes up here - j-towels are almost the same
cr 7/44, pls
gotta head out.. have fun all
correction #2 - they're called J Cloths, 8 for $3
later, ru
cr 7/44 ... a game played with hoops on your lawn and wooden balls struck with a mallet
Take care, ru
I have thin, fabric cleaning rags that might do. But I still have a stash of antibacterial wipes, so I don't think I will try the bleach recipe. *Wonders where there is an "after work crowd" these days
I am so spoiled by the lack of commuter traffic that it is going to be like re-entry when everyone else goes back to work.
... the liquor store is just down the street from the parking lot for the commuter train from the city ... the first rush hour train should just be coming in now ... though I'm told it is quite empty now ... they all drive down to the LCBO and line up before going home
The liquor stores must be making a fortune these days.
ty dose
... the LCBO ( provincially run liquor store and almost monopoly) indicated that the first week of the slowdown and social distancing was it's best not Christmas and New Years week ever
... I know that my wife's work keeps having these afternoon conference calls where everyone is drinking
All the liquor stores in my state are state run. This is the first time I have been glad about that because my state is going to need the money to pay for all the unemployment benefits.
Working from home has it's privileges.
All day pajamas and drinks during the afternoon conference call.
... yeah but I can't go to the bathroom all day because the sound of flushing the toilet will disrupt the conference call in the next room
She is on a conference call all day? With no breaks?
Not to mention, you can mute your sound when on a conference call for things like that.
... she's on three or four most days with half hour breaks between ... ... tonight somebody decided to implement a new computer program at seven o'clock this evening which is going to lead to a two hour call from seven thirty to nine which has my wife completely and utterly pissed off
... and it's all my fault ... simply because I'm breathing the air
Well if she has breaks, then why can't you go to the bathroom?
.... because how do I know when the break is going to happen or must I sit by the bathroom door all day waiting for the opportunity to flush ... ... It's as bad as when we had the bathroom renovated and we had to use the local library and restaurants ... except those are all closed now ...
... sorry ... don't expect sound logic from someone who has just consumed a large can of something called DOUBLE VISION which is a very nice IPA from the local craft brewery which has a very nice young lady drive up to your front porch with a case of beer when you send in an online order
... must be off to make the spaghetti for dinner ... luck to all who continue the struggle
I DID just find about a cup of bleach. I'm going to mix up a batch of Weegee's recipe (which is the strength recommended by the CDC).
Origami, take some deep breaths. I'm sure your house is not covered in virus. Don't take this thing too far.
I am happy to have some disinfectant now. At least I'm not bathing in it :D
origami, that's my thought. I put 2 white wash cloths in the ziploc and use them to wipe door knobs, countertops, etc. & just toss them in with other whites when I do laundry
awww. Gov Beshear just announced to kids who emailed him that the Easter Bunny is considered an essential worker so Easter baskets will still be filled :)
I found a company in Toledo, OH that makes a disinfectant that comes in a tube that you screw into a spray bottle and fill with your own water. They are still filling orders as far as I can tell https://tinyurl.com/tb4tby9
That's cute. Although for some reason I was terrified by the Easter Bunny when I was a kid. Ranked right up there with clowns.
Thanks, dan. I will check it out.
What is scary about the Easter Bunny?
I think it was because one year my parents put my Easter basket in my bedroom the night before. I woke up really early and the night light was casting a shadow from the stuffed rabbit in the basket onto my wall. There was a large, scary rabbit shadow looming next to my bed. Still gives me shivers.
Hello, how are things in Babbleonia?
Apparently we are scared of germs and the Easter Bunny. : D How are you and the Whts doing?
I am mostly doing well, but I am bummed to hear that John Prine died last night.
me too
i went to one of his concerts but it was canceled part way through as he was too drunk to finish the show
i enjoyed the first part though :D
Who would think that would happen to someone with an illegal smile.
.. ori my mother scared me more than rabbits ...
He certainly could pack a whole lot into just a few words.
weegee, what part of KY, I spent the first 38 years of my life in KY.
<---- shivers at the mention of the Easter Bunny :D
my mother would have stabbed and beaten the easter bunny in front of my face
I would have been scared of your mom, too, ru
I'm going to start leaving ceramic bunnies in squadron formatoin on your front lawn until you stop smoking :D
I was scared of butterflies also. Once my father found a bat hanging on my bedroom wall and told me to stay away from them because they could make you sick. I thought it was a large butterfly.
LOL, ru
77 left but it is time for dinner.
bye wht
gapeach, I'm in Lexington close to Fayette Mall
I was brought up in Owensboro. I didn't get the chance to visit Lexington. Love the State though.
I've been here 26 years, much to my surprise!
Have you had a chance to attend the Derby?
Be back in 30 min.
John Prine was a musical legend. I am glad to have been on this planet while he was. Happy Trails John.
hi again
i also saw john prine in concert - he opened for kris kristoffersen
was in a small venue, can't remember exactly where, maybe poughkeepsie, middletown or goshen, ny
I loved John Prine. Never saw him in concert. I have seen Kris Kristoffersen twice.
Saw him here at the opera house in 2007 and he was still at the top of his game - RIP
one of my friends said that losing John is almost like losing a member of the family to them, I can relate.
Things to be grateful for...to keep a positive spin in the chat...I'm grateful that people didn't hoard coffee...feel free to add yours.
I'm grateful for my art teachers and the art community right now.
grateful my 92 year old mom is safe, happy, active at home and fully supplied up in Rochester, NY
i'm grateful for hard alcohol right now :D
Ha :D That ranks right up there.
Coffee and Cigarettes (a drink) for my happy hour tonight
we used to play Angel from Montgomery in the band i was in
What instrument did you play, ru?
guitar
and slide guitar
violin when i was a kid
I love the slide guitar. I admire people with musical talent. I can't carry a tune in a bucket.
49 to go & I'm cross-eyed. back later
See you weegee
Gin, coffee liqueur and tonic. Interesting combination.
i'll have to play some John Prine songs tonight for my dog
how do you know your dog likes John Prine?
Who doesn't like John Prine? Go Ru. Nice send off for John.
i don't know hokie.. but i know he won't like my singing that's for sure
I just did a really loud version of Spanish Pipe Dream. But I can carry a decent tune so I'm not worried about bothering my neighbors.
I wish I could sing. My mother used to threaten to pull the car over and throw me out when I sang along with the radio.
i really wish i could sing.. i have great range but i can't hold notes
that's better than my mother ori.. she'd push me out of the car when it was going
Geesh. And my mom was just joking. She did kick a friend out of her car in downtown Chicago when they were on a road trip and just left him there.
we didn't wear seat belts back in the day
they weren't in cars then
I never wore a seat belt as a kid. Started when I was 21.
Well, hoping people find things to be grateful for. The best advice I have ever heard is "don't let your past define you." Roll with that one folks.
true.. i don't let it define me but it pops up at the most inappropriate times
Enjoying my quarantine cocktail. The talk of Baileys had me add some Costco brand to my shopping cart that was delivered today. It is very strong, stronger than Baileys.
Any time bad things from my past invade my thoughts, my typical response is "Oh fuck you, go away."
I'm grateful for grocery delivery services (and I tip accordingly!) and will join in being grateful that people aren't hoarding coffee. Coffee and wine are god's gifts to us while in quarantine.
Sorry, probably just offended the prim and proper.
sometimes and in some situations molly that's the only appropriate word
<------ grasps pearls and gasps
(breaks out the vapors for poor ori)
help with send po6/21 pls
I feel a sinking spell coming on.
i assume that's second po 6/21 peri?
(waits for NM)
Someone who makes crockery, peri.
At least that's the second one I have
no ori that is the 3rd
second po is intense and strong po6
Sorry
sheesh, ty ruru. thought I had typed that.
ori no need to be sorry
(everyone mark your calendars peri actually NEEDED a clue)
hello all....
hi pen.. welcome to cocktail hour
Hi pen
ty....i will have a cosmo, please....
oooh i haven't had a cosmo in a long time
i think that's the only vodka drink i like
i like them....
I would love to have a cosmo. Have not had one in a very long time
and done, byee
i have had a few in recent months, but not since the stay at home order....don't have the ingredients....
The only other vodka drink I like are greyhounds.
is that with grapefruit juice?
oh.. i like greyhounds .. but can't take the salt
Yes. Yumm.
can't have that....
there's a restaurant here ori that makes greyhounds with vodka, pink grapefruit just and rosemary syrup and a sprig of rosemary that is fabulous
not just .. juice
friggin autocorrect
That sounds wonderful. I bet the rosemary adds a lot.
I tried to change my icon to a picture of my mom and it is too huge. Does anyone remember how large the image can be?
molly would know ori
350 x 350 pixels if you know how to resize
Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
I'll take anything other than the ancient Easter Bunny trauma that needs to go away.
Ha! I thought that one didn't take :D It haunts me, Molly.
!!! Your Mom is Bullwinkle???
that'd be a great one for a phobia group.. i have bunnyphobia
I think there is a serious lag in photo uplloads :D
my dog is pestering me to eat.. see you guys later
bye ru...
I resized it. Thanks.
Mine are whining for dinner also. Back later.
bye ori...
Nope. You just have to CNTRL + F5 after an icon is changed. I just did that and I see the new icon.
query
Okay, finally under 100 left.
i am down to 11 and it's slow going....
ca 7/40 anyone?
CA7 - could be a place for felines
hmm....thinking...
got it...TITT....ty....
i am done...
heading out....goodnight all....
hello friends
evening Trif
dan2! wow, its been ages!
what do you have, seven kids now?
indeed! I hope you and yours are safe and well?
my germ pod is doing just fine
I hope you and yours are well too
we are - my poor little extrovert is suffering from lack of playmates, and my poor mrs introvert wants us out of the house, but these are small problems to have
I usually love being at home - its my favorite place! but this has been the MOST stressful time....
only the one kid, though she has 6 cousins now
wowxa
I dont know if I ever said, but I used to live in Silver Spring....I am sure the spring blossoms are just amazing right now!
we are moving from forsythia/cherry/magnolia into dogwood/azalea/tulip time - weather today was perfection
how soul elevating! we just have bulbs peeping up now, and the forsythia is just starting here....oh, how I miss the long springs!
ahaha I found ti6/7 right after I posted about tulips :-)
ahaha I just found it when you mentioned it!
cooee.... the next time i want to spray grout cleaner on top of domestos, would someone please be kind enough to yell DON'T!!! *cough, cough, gag, gag, cough, cough, gasp*
oh no, granny!
ugh - so sorry
yup. not a good day to have a grey moment, right?
or to wish for a mask
up side... shower recess very clean...
bahahaha
lovely to see you two peeps are doing so well. sorry for little miss Dan. there is only so much a bright spark like herself can do on her own.
yes, and as parents we are "sooooo boooooooring"
she does get regular facetime "dates" with friends and cousins, but it is hard
jigsaws?? stamp collection?? house of cards?? jumanji??
but she is also reading more and doing more art, which I love
we're starting chess
my niece is three. she had a face time meeting with her preschool class this week. Each child was asked how they are doing - "silly!" "happy!" "great!" My niece? "I am sick and tired of this!"
good one. how about chinese checkers? othello? back gammon?
they are saying kids her age only need 2-3 hours of home schooling. and i say....what about the other 6 hours or so that they are awake?
I think I'd have to remember backgammon myself. we have an ancient egyptian game called Sennet that is similar
hahah Trif! When miss2bit was that age and I was making her wash her hands after a potty, she said to me, dead serious "Daddy, you are ruining my life!"
now that sounds interesting.
I said something like "give me another decade or so, kiddo"
omg. aren't they so precious?
hahaha. I feel quite sad for the students with severe special needs at my school. Structure and schedule are EVERYTHING to such students
absolutely. And for many, the screen is SUCH an obstacle
the disabled kids are being hit the hardest. not just their schedules being messed around but also their care-givers. as you say, routine is so important to them.
absolutely
i was touched to my core recently. visiting my friend in Queensland and her son, partner and their 6 kids had moved into tents in her back yard. they had lost their house during the floods up north. thos kids were so love-deprived. not through the fault of the parents. just the sheer numbers .
oh my! that is so hard to read.
i had never met them until recently. i was just being me...granny to all kids. within days i had the 2, 3, 4, and 7 year old clambering all over me for cuddles and kisses.
my chromebook is about to poop out, so I shall say a fond good night to all xoxox
the screaming tantrums settled as soon as i appeared. they seemed to know that i loved them no matter what. i just kept telling each of them how special they were.
sweet dreams dear trif. thanx for listening.
and i shall retreat to the bathroom again. time to tackle the loo.....
dan, i'll pop back in to check if you need a hand. xox
finito! thanks lickety and granny and all cluers
WTG DAN2BITS!!
WTG, dan2bit!! YAY!!
