We had a protest march this afternoon.....about a quarter mile from my home. I slept through it.....only found out on the evening news.

7:25 am

Another beautiful day. I'm going to enjoy it while I can because the 90's are coming later this week.

7:26 am

I put on a sweatshirt to walk the dog this morning. And yesterday was perfect. Stayed outside all day.

7:28 am

Wearing a sweater right now but the sun is out and will be another beautiful day in the 70s

7:30 am

I didn't make it to the garden with Mom yesterday due to the protesting. We will go today for sure.

7:32 am

I'm really astounded at all the protesting. I figured the virus scare would keep people from gather like that. Guess not.

7:33 am

Or gathering

7:34 am

The ones I've seen were wearing masks.

7:34 am

And I guess their statement is bigger than their fear of the virus.

7:36 am

Yes, I think they feel driven to speak out. Can no longer sit in silence.

7:36 am

Good morning all! Another exquisite day here.

7:39 am

I am all for speaking out against what is wrong. Not so much for the looting and burning though.

7:40 am

Obviously no justification for that - it achieves the opposite of the objective.

7:40 am

Hurts mostly their own neighbors, people themselves struggling to make a living

7:40 am

Yes, that is excessive. Peaceful demonstration gets the point across much better.

7:41 am

There was a restaurant in Minneapolis where the owner, a Somali immigrant, had chosen to continue to pay her employees during COVID rather than keep up her insurance. They torched her place.

7:41 am

neighbors are doing the looting?

7:42 am

Unclear. There are so many reports of out-of-state plates. I have a really close friend in Minneapolis who says she's seen a lot of those.

7:42 am

I heard many of the arrested protesters were from out-of-state

7:42 am

that is what I saw reported

7:42 am

or no plates

7:42 am

so much fake news going on. it's hard to figure out what's accurate

7:43 am

Indeed. Impossible.

7:43 am

some reports of the white supremacists burning things to make it seem like violent protests

7:43 am

whoever is behind the looting that needs to stop

7:44 am

It's probably inevitable that provocateurs from both sides are seizing the opportunity. There was a video from Baltimore where a young black woman was begging some white guys to stop the destruction saying, "This will just hurt US (black residents)" - to which the guy replied, "They're going to kill you anyway"

7:47 am

nbt. this is a deceptively tough grid

7:57 am

phantom - antelope

8:05 am

There is a really backwards notion that looting and burning are justified "revenge". The point eludes me. As it has been said here, the people doing this are just hurting innocent store owners. It does nothing to further their point. If anything, it makes them look like crazy people with no point.

8:11 am

Could I have a clue for the 9 please?

8:12 am

Before a tax review

8:15 am

We don’t have them in the uk

8:16 am

Okay, before an accounting review

8:18 am

Tx molly

8:18 am

Thanks. I’ll keep looking. Will come later to find it. My brain isn’t working today

jax, if you're still here, we also use the tax review word to mean sitting in on a class for no credit. not sure if you have that in UK.

8:25 am

I have to believe that the accounting review exists in all countries. Everyone who works in accounting is responsible for being ready for one of these. That is why they call it accounting.

name that proper noun - EDM DJ in the grid (anyone who gets this will get bonus points today) (and for the record - FTR - I don't know this type of music either but have seen the name)

probably molly, sometimes a word just refuses to come to you (at least me)

8:26 am

I don't even know what EDM is...

well, only because I just looked it up to see what kind of DJ he is, I know now it is electronic dancehall music per wiki

8:31 am

I am clueless with Bea on the whole EDM thing. Not my kind of music at all.

me either

but have seen the name

8:31 am

Cheated, looked it up, Diplo. Never heard of him.

8:32 am

All I was looking for was "mat" after that

8:32 am

Carla, my crabapple jelly was a bust.

was just going to say it's like the big not lego blocks but a different vowel

8:32 am

They aren't crabapples. -)

darn, bea

lol, what are they?

8:33 am

Some type of plum.

8:33 am

Ogden Nash poem: The Bronx, no thonx.

hmm, small as a crabapple?

too watery?

8:34 am

Yes. My mom thought they were sandhill, but I think those grow on bushes.

8:34 am

They have a pit like a cherry.

8:34 am

Good morning, all. Been lurking, bashing away at words.

yeah, def. not a crabapple then.

8:35 am

Now I must hear "the case of crababpple mistaken identity".

8:35 am

Good morning, Judi.

I can rem. writing on the driveway with crabapples until my fingers started scraping the driveway so I know no pit in those.

8:36 am

I will send a pic to a botanist friend of mine today.

morning, judi

8:36 am

Bea may have cooked up a batch of arsenic to go with her olde lace.

8:37 am

LOL! I haven't cooked any yet. I'm glad I didn't gook them as crabapples. Apples don't need pectin in the jelly.

8:38 am

gook them...Heavens!

8:38 am

Is this a project born of pandemic boredom, Bea?

8:38 am

Is it quiet in your office today, Judi?

8:38 am

Yes. Total snoozefest here.

8:39 am

No rioting over the weekend?

Could they be quinces?

8:39 am

No rioting in our humble burg. There was some in Wilmington, DE, though.

8:40 am

No, matty, not quince.

8:41 am

It might be a snozberry...

here it was peaceful protests until around 11pm. watched on the local news until about 12:30. the police were trying to get them to disperse and go home. apparently the night before they were out until 5am.

8:41 am

damson?

8:43 am

They look like damson...maybe...

8:45 am

Off I go to do a little real work. I'm tapping out on this grid. 110 left in the bucket. See y'all tomorrow. Bea - I hope you can salvage your plums (or whatever they are).

bye judi

8:46 am

Thanks, Judi!

9:57 am

hey ML

10:00 am

hey mool

10:01 am

molly, I saw your comment earlier about the protestors and I agree completely. I don't understand it at all and not all of them are wearing masks either.

10:04 am

I live in a community where blacks are the majority. Very few of them wear masks.

10:05 am

Can anyone clue the PR8 please? Just cannot find it at all. Does it begin with PRE ?

10:05 am

Before a tax review. Before an accounting review. Before a class you take to just observe, not get credit.

10:07 am

ty molly

10:08 am

wonder why you can do it before, but not again

10:09 am

it only takes the IRS once nan

10:10 am

yeah, but I would probaly need to attend the class again --- especially if it had anything to do with math

10:11 am

Thanks for the clue. x

10:12 am

I can't imagine volunteering for a class that had anything to do with math : D

10:16 am

hi all

10:17 am

good morning jm

10:18 am

it is a beautiful day here

10:18 am

hi ru

10:18 am

I'm off for the day. See you all tomorrow.

10:18 am

hate math

10:18 am

Enjoy your day Bea

10:18 am

bye bzzn

10:19 am

I find math to be like word puzzles and crosswords.

10:19 am

easy?

10:20 am

haha not necessarily easy but entertaining. . . a mystery to sole

10:20 am

solve

10:20 am

that's also like a jigsaw puzzle

10:20 am

yes I like them too

10:21 am

I love jigsaw puzzles

10:21 am

have yo every done jiggidy?

10:22 am

a jigsaw puzzle site I assume?

10:23 am

yes. most of them I don't like but i find that one. ..okay. Actual jigsaw puzzle still a lot better

10:23 am

is that online or is it an app?

10:24 am

I just googled it and didn't see it?

10:25 am

its spelled jigidi

10:25 am

thank you phae. . . spelling has never been my strong point!

10:26 am

I use it all the time

10:26 am

yw...crossy used to upload pics and turn them into puzzles

10:26 am

just googled it and its in my fav places now

10:26 am

did he? What a sweet guy

10:27 am

phae do you have to upload or download anything?

10:27 am

no or I wouldn't have used it.

10:28 am

no....just pick your size and genre

10:28 am

me either

10:28 am

It has been forty forevers since I been there

10:28 am

I haven't done a puzzle in a while

10:29 am

i really wish Springbok puzzles were more readily available in stores like they used to be

10:30 am

I don't have the space to do a real one

10:30 am

we have a table in our bonus room which is what that table was purchased for but then it became a junk table

10:31 am

he table is usable now, and cats still like them too:)

10:31 am

Springbok puzzles has their own web site with all their puzzles available for sale.

10:31 am

I sometimes use my coffee table but then I live alone so there is no one to complain.

10:31 am

jigsaws are all the rage right now.

10:32 am

jmc so they say , didn't know people had them or could get them before all this started

10:32 am

good to konw molls

10:32 am

Really? Does that mean people have quit making bread and hoarding all the yeast?

10:32 am

molly i know i have the link to it in my fav places:D

10:33 am

no clue molls. I am the worlds worst baker so wasn't even trying.

10:34 am

my husband and i don't bake either, but i am dying to learn ..cakes pies cookies etc.. hubby wants to get rid of them mixer(he probably would have to help me make some things if he would let me learn to bake)

10:35 am

I couldn't figure out why people were making bread in the first place -- it wasn't as if the shelves were bare like the meat and paper departments. After 20 years of making bread 3 x per week for a family of 5, I have no interest in ever making bread again.

10:35 am

he would "let" you?

10:36 am

that doens't sound healthy mlf

10:36 am

i think its a participation thing ruru lol

10:36 am

Yeah I was wondering about the if he would let me learn to bake thing too

10:37 am

ruru its okay we save money by not buying extra things

10:37 am

you're getting too crusty in your old age nan :D

10:37 am

I think she's just loafing around since the kids moved out

10:37 am

we have been able to buy bread here

10:37 am

you can save money by baking -- at the price of a loaf of bread today, that's a no brainer

10:38 am

bread has been a bit scarce here

10:38 am

just tell him that you can make a loaf of bread for about a dollar - that should do it

10:38 am

It has not been scarce here. That is why I don't understand the run on yeast.

10:39 am

because you're in the far yeast molly

10:39 am

my husband knows io want to though. One fo my siblings is self taught with making bread

10:40 am

mind you by the time you add in the cost of pans (properly amortized) and electricity it is closer to $2.00

10:40 am

making bread isn't a knead for me

10:41 am

sorry i meant rum cake

10:41 am

How does one amortize a pan? I thought that was a loan word.

10:41 am

rolling the dough?

10:42 am

cyber i love your icon!

10:42 am

spread the cost of the pan over the years of use

10:42 am

A decent loaf of bread is twice two dollars or more. So you are saving money making it.

10:43 am

Bread pans are not that expensive. I wouldn't factor something like that in.

10:43 am

i loaf around the house too much to be up to making bread

10:44 am

there is nothing to making bread, mlf -- follow the recipe, let it rise, punch it down and form loaves, let it rise and bake. Bread is done when you get a hollow sound when you tap the top. Cool on racks (that is if you can resist the temptation to slice and slather butter on it and eat it when it is still woarm.

10:45 am

that was a tognue in cheek comment for mlf's hubby, molly

10:46 am

I made a nice loaf of bread yesterday.

10:47 am

I treated myself to 2 nice stainless steel loaf pans in 1976. They have held may loaves of bread both yeast and quick and still look great. Money well spent.

10:47 am

Hi everyone....can I please have a clue for te8?

10:50 am

i am trying to get off of bread for a while

10:54 am

Does nobody in here have te8???

10:54 am

love making bread

10:54 am

not me

10:54 am

gtg hubby home

10:55 am

well it's _not_ teleporn. I'll tell you that much. I've tried it.

10:55 am

lol...good one Harry!

10:56 am

Number + one cent

10:56 am

ty molly

10:56 am

Ooo, Mr. Hood's Zoom classes must be pretty hot

10:57 am

yikes

10:57 am

Mr. Hood has had it with zoom.

10:57 am

I can imagine that it is a less than optimal teaching experience

10:58 am

ty molly - a word that has gone out of use with fiscal inflation

10:58 am

Absolutely. I can't deal with the thought of doing this again in the fall

10:58 am

So its another word for 1 cent....

10:58 am

good morning harry.. i liked your post about a certain profile the other day

10:59 am

dime, flask

10:59 am

Nan, the other day we were talking here about how much candy we used to be able to get for 50 cents

10:59 am

yeah. I can't imagine that any sexual predator is worse than Hitler. But that's just me.

11:00 am

The clue was number (the number obviously starts with T) + penny (another word for a penny)

11:00 am

Crap...cent another word for a cent. Off to the PB

11:00 am

10p

11:00 am

*throws Molly into the PB*

11:00 am

lol -- I think that did it, molly

11:01 am

heh. good one molly

11:01 am

why....cent is not in the grid

11:02 am

Oh Flask, bless your heart

11:03 am

100 to go!

11:03 am

in for a p in for a pound

11:05 am

thankyou nan...and Molly...and Harry...

11:06 am

One cent shooters available for a limited time at the PB bar

11:06 am

I was missing the double consonant completely!

11:06 am

Later, there will be pitching

11:07 am

And perhaps a te8 opera

11:07 am

Can I be mack the knife?

11:08 am

lol....

11:08 am

oh when the shark bites...

11:13 am

molly must be really enjoying that penalty box today -- wonder what's being served in there?

11:13 am

I'll be "Poor Polly", Harry

11:14 am

I haven't opened the li4 yet - is there an ex?

11:14 am

my parents took me to see that when I was about 10. I don't think they realized how raunchy it was

11:15 am

Tx for te8 molly

11:16 am

it is, Harry, good music but

11:16 am

at 93 to go, I think that I've only used the x tile for one word - the x word :)

11:16 am

Mack the Knife was my uncle's fave!!

11:17 am

Yep, same at 123 left! Thanks

11:17 am

I kind of hate sinatra's version

11:20 am

can't look at this anymore. bbl for 91.

11:20 am

I love Bobby Darrin's version.

11:20 am

Ditto molly!

11:20 am

Or Darin

11:38 am

200 down.....

11:39 am

hey y'all anyone have a clue for the 2nd di 6/24 and 7/36 combo?

11:55 am

ty ru -- never think of that -- always used rod & reel

11:56 am

I thought we got the te8 all squared away an hour ago

11:57 am

I am just now getting back to the grid so that is all I saw was recent posts about it

12:04 pm

12:13 pm

this grid is really tough for me -- so many words i either don't know or have forgotten

12:15 pm

the P is hard

12:16 pm

I'm missing a lot of d's - especially the di's

12:16 pm

i haven't tried d yet

12:17 pm

oh - found a di 6/39

12:18 pm

but still looking for that first di 6-7 that was mentioned

12:18 pm

that one ends with what you catch fish with.....once you hook it and reel it in....

12:21 pm

yes - have that one pen -- there is another 6-7-8 before that

12:22 pm

ah, ok....can you please clue the 6/39?

12:23 pm

more common prefixes are com or du for multi dwellings

12:23 pm

ty...

12:34 pm

Wow, those di6,7, and 8s were totally unfamiliar to me. Had to resort to morewords after fruitless monkeying.

12:34 pm

help us out natasha?

12:35 pm

which do you need hursh?

12:36 pm

the first 6 7 8 i guess? i got the ones that were just clued

12:37 pm

12:37 pm

thanks, got them!

12:38 pm

the final 6/7 is a compound of 2 short words

12:38 pm

and plural

12:38 pm

du4 in the wind.... all we are is du4 in the wiiiiind

12:39 pm

ty, natasha.....

there's an ae8,40 combo on top of ae4,4

12:43 pm

12:43 pm

ah, no, I meant compound not combo

12:43 pm

ah cool, thanks, got that one

12:44 pm

if you got au5/6 you can get the 8/9 by putting something in front of it

12:44 pm

thanks!!

12:44 pm

i tried that prefix on sooo many other things but not that

12:45 pm

cause i KNOW you can buy prelit christmas trees now

12:45 pm

Ok, back to work for me.

12:45 pm

name that proper noun! author of Emma, Persuasion, etc

hi all back to see if there are any clues for any 7s or 8s. or the 9. i had to leave before to do some work. any clues and stats out there? ty

1:27 pm

My late chihuahua used to catch flies in the air. It was funny to watch

1:29 pm

any clues for the 9 or 8s? ty

1:30 pm

I used to come here when my husband was sick with chemo and just take time for myself. He passed five years ago and our 17th wedding anniversary is Sunday. I don't mean to crash the party, but I remember this as a comforting space and that's why I'm back.

1:30 pm

sorry to hear kizah

1:30 pm

Thank you Harry

1:31 pm

what kind of cancer did he have

1:31 pm

Sorry for your loss. Some losses you just endure...

1:31 pm

I do ok most of the time

1:31 pm

I'm sorry you lost your husband. Anniversaries are tough after you lose a spouse.

1:32 pm

He was 48 and I was 45 when he died so it wasn't the norm

1:32 pm

Thanks Molly

1:32 pm

oh dear. very young.

1:32 pm

Ow.

1:32 pm

I'm to the point right now where the memories bring a smile instead of a tear

1:32 pm

Most of the time, of course

1:32 pm

It sounds like you had 12 good years. That is something to be grateful for.

1:33 pm

I really am. I had a true love and I know that is rare. I'm fortunate in that regard.

1:34 pm

He got cancer within 2 years of our marriage so most of it was cancer, treatment, surgeries, etc

1:34 pm

I'm glad I could be there for him

1:34 pm

holy cow. that's tough for you

1:34 pm

We did, however, travel during the in between

1:35 pm

I grew up in a very abusive family so my time with him was so healing. I'm so grateful to have known him and helped me become who I am today

1:35 pm

sounds like you''ve made the best of it

1:36 pm

I knew I had the choice to become (pardon the cliche) bitter or better

1:37 pm

welcome back, anyway

1:37 pm

Thank you <3

1:39 pm

I think we all have stories of hardship that we can share to inspire others

1:41 pm

Kizah last Tuesday was my 36 anniversary with my husband who died in 1993. I appreciated you sharing. Finding a true love is worth it.

1:41 pm

How did you commemorate the day?

1:42 pm

I am sorry for you loss

1:42 pm

haha being sick I am afraid. I have been struggling with illness for about a week

1:43 pm

I'm sorry to hear that. My first thought is Corona, but I hope it was something more simple

1:44 pm

and sorry for your loss as well. my in-laws recently asked how long it took to get over it and I said: What makes you think I am over it?

1:44 pm

I hate that term!

1:44 pm

I use "move forward"

1:44 pm

I truly believe we can move forward, but getting over to me seems like forgetting, making less important, etc.

1:44 pm

never understood the "getting over it." I lost my most beloved sister 6+ years ago. Don't think I'll ever "get over" that. Just live with it, like a hole in my side.

1:45 pm

maybe covaid maybe not. I am not sick enough to go to hospital and I konw how to deal with my systems which are gastric.

1:45 pm

JMC: I'm glad your symptoms are mild enough to stay home, but I'm sorry you're sick.

1:45 pm

so true kizah. I liked the description that it was like having an appendage amputated. You deal. But it never isn't not there anymore.

1:46 pm

gastic symptoms can indicate COVID. Do you own or can you get a finger pulse oximeter? You should just keep track of oxygen levels make sure they don't drop below 90.

1:46 pm

Natasha: I get that. I've come to know that my husband exists on. He may be freer than I am at this point. I'm not religious, but I sense him around me sometimes.

1:46 pm

I al staying in isolation but since I live alone there has been only a slight change in my life. . .my son can't come over and I can't go to the part where my garden is.

1:46 pm

JMCK: I agree! Why would I want to forget? Why would I want to be the same after such a loss?

1:48 pm

Thanks for the advise Natasha. I talked to a client of mine who is an immunology doctor (so helpful to have clients) and he said it was hard to tell without a test and I don't see the value of getting tested when the is no cure only symtpm relief.

1:48 pm

Also, why would I want to be the same after such a gain of knowing my husband?

1:48 pm

Not suggesting a test. Suggesting a pulse oximeter to keep track that your oxygen levels aren't dropping.

1:49 pm

Natasha: are you a medical professional?

1:49 pm

Zacurate makes one that's got good ratings and it's only around $30. I don't work for them, I'm a fundraiser for a charity

1:49 pm

thanks Natashah. No, don't have one. Am feeling better.

1:50 pm

But it has been recommended as there are folks ill with COVID who seem symptom-free yet their oxygen levels are much too low.

1:50 pm

Natasha: I meant that as a real query...not an accusation! Hard to relay intent in text

1:50 pm

I've spent a lifetime on pubmed.gov due to multiple disease conditions in my family, and these past 3 months I've spent studying virology online :-)

1:52 pm

Gotcha. I have a lot of doctors in my step-family and am often asking them for advice. They are often just as perplexed as I am, this being novel. I volunteer at a free clinic because I know how hard it is to be in the medical system. I haven't been there in several months because of the virus, however.

1:52 pm

There have been reports of older folks dying suddenly and being found postmortem to have been positive for COVID but they felt nothing till it was too late. For this reason, some doctors are recommending at-risk populations acquire a pulse oximeter to track oxygen levels, since it's not horribly expensive.

1:52 pm

I haven't used pubmed.gov, but do read a lot of articles on NIH.com

1:54 pm

My step-brother-in-law is an ER doc. He said that they had a patient in his hospital who tested negative for the virus three times while on a ventilator. He eventually tested positive, so my bil assumes the tests are not very accurate.

1:54 pm

Hello. Je, I hope you get better very quickly. These are scary times.

1:54 pm

PCR tests have about a 20% error rate (false negs); finger stick is worse (30%) and forget about the current serology tests (50%!)

1:59 pm

What is serology?

2:00 pm

IIt is blood work. Natasha likes to use really educated terms for things. : D

2:01 pm

Ah :)

2:01 pm

I think the most important thing is to get help as soon as you have trouble breathing.

2:02 pm

It seems like it can progress very quickly from that point.

2:02 pm

This is interesting... My boyfriend's boss was in Seattle in November visiting his son. His son is in rehab for a shoulder injury...he's a professional baseball player and during rehab played against athletes from China. The boss came home and was sick, then my boyfriend got sick, then his mother who was in the hospital for a week with an unknown lung infection. I was sick too and VERY sick...never so sick before. We wonder if we had the virus. We all isolated after symptoms began.

2:03 pm

certainly sounds like it

2:04 pm

Interestingly enough, his mother was tested a few weeks ago and it came back negative for antibodies.

2:05 pm

Serology is, specifically, a test for antibodies in your blood to see if you've already been exposed to a certain "antigen" (in this case, the virus!). Sadly current tests kinda suck with about 50% inaccurate. But there's hope a more accurate test may be developed so people can find out if they've had the disease or not.

2:05 pm

But right now the fact that his mom came back negative isn't conclusive proof she didn't have it

2:06 pm

So if the tests are that inaccurate, why are they even used?

2:06 pm

"It's whut we got"

2:06 pm

Ah. I get that.

2:07 pm

I think some of the antibody tests are better (to see if you already had COVID), but most are not very good. They have a high false-positive rate, I think.

2:07 pm

It will be interesting to see what this time in history looks like in 20 years. Just like we shake our heads at how the past dealt with illnesses, our action will likely be seen as barbaric or, in the least, futile

2:07 pm

The swab test too has limitations - PCR finds RNA left by the virus - it does NOT determine whether it's still infectious or just viral trash. For that you need a much more complex (read: expensive) assay.

2:07 pm

done. last several P words needed morewords.

2:07 pm

hagd all. feel better all you ppl.

2:08 pm

bye harry

2:08 pm

It's easy to look back even a month and criticize and yet no one really knew a lot about this virus...at least those who were being honest

2:08 pm

bye harry

2:10 pm

bye harry

2:11 pm

Some of the info we got from China turned out not to be helpful... re intubating for example... now they get much better results with high-flow oxygen and proning...sadly our doctors have had to learn by trial and error.

2:25 pm

Just reading an article on CBC about how some people end up being sick for many weeks, up to at least ten weeks in one case. (Obviously, these are not the most extreme cases.)

2:26 pm

(I mean, not the most serious symptoms.)

2:43 pm

i was just reading a new theory that it's a vascular virus rather than just a respiratory one

2:51 pm

Yes, there've been over 20,000 (!) studies and papers published in just a few months. It's dizzying trying to keep up with the new theories about it.

2:52 pm

The one perception that seems constant throughout is, it's not the virus per se that's killing people - it's the immune system overreacting to it and wrecking essential body parts in an effort to combat it.

2:52 pm

yo immune system - chill out

2:52 pm

"The operation was a success but the patient died" appears to be what some folks' immune systems are saying

2:53 pm

It's tricky knocking down an overresponsive immune system. You don't want to suppress it TOO much. it's a very fine line.

2:54 pm

and we mustn't forget the house episode where they gave a patient total body irradiation and then found out what she actually had was a staph infection

2:54 pm

An oximeter is hugely important if you have been exposed to the virus. It will calculate the amount of oxygen in your blood & highlight a deficiency, before you display symptoms. An oximeter can be the difference between life and death.

2:55 pm

y

2:55 pm

y'all are convincing me that I should get one for me and my older sister

2:55 pm

right now i'd be content if my HEAD would just STOP HURTING

2:55 pm

We bought a Zacurate oximeter from the company (NOT Amazon). It works well. Not expensive. Happy to have it.

2:55 pm

Y not, Jmc? 🤣

2:56 pm

she gets pneumonia frequently so it is ironic that it appears that I am the one who may have convaid

2:56 pm

nice soodle

2:58 pm

could I get the stats for the left hand E please?

2:58 pm

Just checked the Zacurate website... they're in stock. Price went up a bit, around $40 now. Still not a huge fortune for peace of mind if you're in a risk group

2nd row grey and 90% of grid done!

3:03 pm

Regardless of our geographical location, we are all battling this pandemic. It is killing lots of people. We need to fight it. To date, I have lost two close family members. It’s chilling how devastating this curse is

3:03 pm

I have seen some for less Natasha. I will follow up on this. Thanks for the suggestion.

3:03 pm

hi TO. . . .sadly I have to head out to a Zoom meeting

uh oh, are you sick, jmc?

3:04 pm

I'm so sorry Soodle!!

3:04 pm

Just make sure you buy one that's recommended as actually working, not junk. have a nice meeting

3:04 pm

I would suggest that anyone considering buying an oximeter read up on the accuracy of them first. A good idea when purchasing any medical equipment.

3:05 pm

and so sorry soodle. I have lost a couple of friends but not close but who cares if they are close. . . one was quite young and it is still tragic.

3:05 pm

good advice nat and molls. I will do my homework Poof.

3:17 pm

Natasha, thanks for the info, just ordered a pink one from Zacurate for 39.99.

has anyone used the x aside from the x word?

3:22 pm

leuds

3:25 pm

72 I have one word that ends in the x but that is it so far other than the x word

3:26 pm

Good Afternoon, Everyone.

3:27 pm

Hi nef

3:27 pm

you staying safe and out of trouble?

3:27 pm

Nef! Hi there. It's been ages since I've seen you playing.

3:28 pm

stats for the 9 please? and is it a plural?

3:28 pm

Reading back in chat, I'msorry to see that some of you got sick with Covid-19. And Molly, that's good advice that people read about how well they work.

3:29 pm

Hi harp and ori. I've been trying to do some Babbling lately; but sometimes I just don't chat trying to find words, original (and I don't see that you're on when I am either).

3:32 pm

Our son has kept us locked up during this pandemic; we are safe (but I'm going bonkers at times here dealing with the 3 generations of ADHD men in this house!)

ty jshap

hi nef, was wondering about you the other day

3:32 pm

no

3:32 pm

I see you on FB every so often

3:36 pm

Hi TO.I'm still alive; but this year has been a bit rough. We haven't had Covid; but hubby's been having problems with his MS and it took a while for me to recover from my knee surgery.

3:36 pm

72 I just found 2 more ending in that x, I'm sure there are more too

3:37 pm

I know, harp; I keep worrying about how Montana is doing with Covid.

hope you are on the mend now

ty jshap

3:38 pm

I am, TO; I had some bleeding & clotting problems and am still sporting a nasty bruise 6 months after surgery.

knees are tough, from what i've heard.

3:39 pm

You have had a lot to deal with, Nef.

3:42 pm

How are you doing? I don't suppose (due to Covid) that you've been out dancing lately? (I envied you when you said you were going to go out dancing; my uncle had an old-time orchestra and we grew up dancing and my husband hasn't been able to dance for the past 25 years).

nefL this thing will be the death of our club. i cannot envision dancing again.

3:46 pm

Greetings

3:47 pm

:-( I'm sorry to hear that; then again; I'm wondering what we will be able to do ever again! Our State Fair is cancelled too. (that's been the high point of my husband's year since forever!)

3:48 pm

Hi Christa! How are you?

i am sure musikfest is done. so far, the levitt outdoor series is virtual on line.

the official decision is mid june.

3:51 pm

The CA state fair is cancelled also.

3:52 pm

Good Nef

3:52 pm

And all Fall classes at the university I work at will be remote. I will be working from home until January.

3:52 pm

This year is the pits!

3:53 pm

It's a dumpster fire, for sure.

3:53 pm

No kidding lol. Love the chat log but usually sit quiet.

3:54 pm

I have a confession. All these years I have never gotten fireworks. What happens when a person does?

3:56 pm

Christa, the tile stats area actually shows firework now-a-days.

3:57 pm

I love babble so much, makes my day. I have not missed a day since 2005, even if I only have 20 minutes to give to the game.

3:58 pm

I joined in 2005 also; back then I don't think it did have fireworks.

3:58 pm

Nef, how do I find babble on Facebook?

3:59 pm

There's a FB group called Babble Community

3:59 pm

thanks

4:00 pm

STATS FOR THE 9 PLEASE?

4:00 pm

pr8/55 9/72

4:00 pm

It's in the private groups section; however, I don't know if it's easy to get in to since FB made some recent changes. I couldn't get into another private group there until someone asked about me

4:00 pm

pr 9/72

4:01 pm

Sorry, harp; I didn't know it earlier and had just started the grid.

beginning to wander off. time to get the wash from the line- getting chilly. bbl

4:06 pm

LOL! Good to know, TO. Have a good day!

4:11 pm

Hey there everyone!! 2 left and can't see them any clues for the 2nd di6/24 and 7/36?

4:17 pm

di 6 is take a little swim and what you can use to gather fish and then plural

4:17 pm

... di + what the planet has a north and south of

4:18 pm

bless you Nancy and Dose!! tadone

4:42 pm

Congrats!

5:18 pm

hi all. sorry to be in and out so much. i keep asking for clues for 8s and the 9, and then i get called away. Please let me know if you have any stats and clues. ty.

5:21 pm

nancy what is that clue you gave? take a little swim, then the fish word i have that as a di 6. but plural??????

5:22 pm

i am so confused about that di word. and i dont have a di 7 at all...........and only one di 6 24. are there more than one?

5:34 pm

The di 6/7 combination has been clued several times as what you take in the pool + a device for catching fish. That is not the rod/reel device, but the old Galilee way of catching fish by casting something out in the water. It helps to think a bit about the clues given.

6:04 pm

leaving clues for mkg. ae8. ae4/4 + alternative way to spell not heavy

6:06 pm

di8, plural of di7/36. di + dim**e, little pucker in cheek + not off + consonant

6:12 pm

Nearly the end of my time on the grid for the day. I try to do a jigsaw puzzle and then fix dinner. Lovely day here at the precise center of the known universe. We are determined to be peaceful. May it burst upon all of you in Babbleland.

6:15 pm

Do you do your jigsaw puzzle online?

6:17 pm

Yes, there is a free site that has nice choice. I don't lose pieces that way.

6:18 pm

Yes - the online jigsaw puzzles I've encountered aren't a great substitute for the real thing, but they are a lot more convenient.

6:26 pm

A MILLION THANKS! GOT THE DI 7 8 COMBO AND THE AE 8!

6:26 pm

only missing the 9 now. any clues?

6:26 pm

I like the feature I can pause and finish at a later time. I must go now and do that dinner thing. I believe it has a chicken in the oven type of menu. Have a pleasant evening Gillie.

6:26 pm

aero

6:27 pm

Take care.

6:27 pm

oh my gosh! i finally got the di 6/7 combo ! a million thanks! i was thinking of another fishing thing. ty for the clues!

6:28 pm

that 9 is alluding me.

6:31 pm

It sounds like the plural of what would happen before the IRS come to review your tax return.

6:34 pm

(common prefix appended to a financial word)

6:35 pm

pr9 is the plural of pr8. pr + t** or coffee + cow's **der + last part of not stand
