Clues are up
the smallest grid was only 10 words!
thanks, lickety.
Really, Jessmom? Wow. I missed that one!
Wow! When was that?
you can see the stats on lickety's page. The date was June 17, but it doesn't give the year.
Whay can't I get a single top left T word?!
I have 4 from there - all pretty common in babble land.

Donald Trump on the Tiananmen Square massacre in 1990, the year after it happened:“When the students poured into Tiananmen Square, the Chinese government almost blew it,†Donald Trump said. “Then they were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength. That shows you the power of strength. Our country is right now perceived as weak … as being spit on by the rest of the world,†the future president continued.

Good morning, Une. Mine is fine. Could be the full URL at 1:11?

I don't have a giant font, but we do have the looong box, because of a long link further down the chat
We could clear it eventually

Good morning, peri. Good afternoon, Matty.
What is the status with the covid isolation where you live?
code yellow starting today
what about your area Bea?
What does that mean. peri?

Eating establishments, bars, salons are opening with social distancing here.

Sent the offending link to the archives usually fixes it.
No matter how many times tinyurl.com is mentioned, it never seems to work.
One word then enter, Harry
ah - I get it. you guys are wizards
I think today's offender doesn't post much.
hardly harry
I have been flushing threads for years Harry : D
Shh! Peri! Just go with it!
It used to take longer on discussion boards
LOL Bea
Molly, I finally decided to get carry out last night.
good for you Bea, what did you order
Yay Bea! What did you get?
What a disaster! I ended up fixing a late dinner of biscuits, sausage gravy and fried potatoes.
Oh my God, biscuits, sausage gravy and fried potatoes is my idea of a heavenly meal. What happened with the take out?
oh no
The place we were trying to order from was so busy you couldn't get them on the phone. The drive through line was so long and they were closing at 7pm due to the curfew.
Aw, well...Today is a new day.
Curfew because of protests?
Yes.
You know, I am all for the cause, but curfew on top of quarantine seems a bit excessive.
Crazy time, for sure.

I'm thinking about picking something up on my way home. I hate cooking on Friday nights.
We usually do a grilled hamburger and fries on Friday nights.
It is too humid to grill out. I'm tired of sweating.
I will be spending most of today searching for the word pariah in this grid.
But tonight, I'm going to fix a Chinese veggie stir fry over noodles.
There is a lot of poo in the grid today.
sounds delicious. I'm buying chinese for tonight. I can't bear to cook in this crazy humidity
I was going to do something Chinese, but did not get some of the ingredients I need in my grocery delivery order.
I've run out of cumin seeds and can't find them anywhere
I had a hell of a time finding cumin for a while. I ended up ordering a huge container of it from Amazon.
Isn't it funny what you can't find?
I finally found ground cumin yesterday. but no seeds. I need them for my alu gobi
I substituted curry for cumin in refried beans last week - not a success.
I've never heard of it, Harry. But, I don't do much Indian either. That looks like a recipe we would enjoy.
it's so good
My friend said she doesn't know why there is a run on yeast when everyone is so "trendily" gluten free these days.
LOL! She does have a point.
Still need yeast in gluten free bread!
There is the GF Goddess!
there was a funny meme the other day...
something about "who knew - when men lose access to sports, they bake. I would not have expected that"
Apparently there is a problem with cumin crops, thus the shortage
Good morning, all.
Just found ar7 - fitting for this game
really! I didn't even know cumin was a plant.
its finally raining. First time for weeks. I can almost hear my garden sucking it up!!
How do you think you get those seeds, Harry?
Most spices are plants, Harry. LOL!
yes well...
there's no curry plant. or paprika plant.
19 left before coffee. BBL
or garam masala plant
Nothing happens in my house BEFORE coffee : D
can I plant cumin?
you can buy curry leaves?!
huh - it looks like queen anne's lace!
I think curry is a combination of spices
Looks like you can Harry, if you follow certain guidelines. It likes a long, hot growing season.
project for next year.
please remind me in april.
Lots of curry leaves available on line
true Harry but you can buy dried curry leaves. I have some!!
Probably need to start getting the seed for planting in Feb, Harry.
oh - there is a curry tree!
I did not know that
it looks like the aelanthus - evil tree of heaven
Pay heed to the Master Gardener
not getting that ar7
"Evil tree of heaven" sounds very contradictory.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah so sorry
i'm going to go and wash up!!!!

bye!
This grid is miserable. Off to pursue other snipe. See y'all tomorrow!
Why does no one ever wash down? : D
I do. Wash down the stove, the countertops...
back with coffee
Is it helping?
still 19 left. was elsewhere. :D
6 words missing from 4th row, and that's just 2 tiles. thank goodness for the bottom row.
hi all
Hi, jm.
I had a curry plant once. I didn't find it as good as curry made from a group of spices.
yeah I won't get very far in this grid
I can't remember the last time I saw a grid with only five vowels
put an ant trap here the other day and still have the random ant crawl across my desk :<
Is it a Terro?
that's not fun hokie
cinnamon deters ants. I use to circle my cat's food bowl with it every spring/summer
yes, terro
it alwasy took her a few days to get past the cinnamon smell next tto her food
may put another one in another spot. have to hide them behind furniture though so my dog doesn't get them
I used to line my kitchen windows with cinnamon sticks when we had an ant problem
I'm low on cinnamon right now
we have the little ants too hubby sprays by the front door but we have an area where the crown molding is missing and he doesn't spray there. I thin if he did, the spray may come in the house
who knows if that's available at the stores
that's probably where the ants come in the house, mlfan
just don't use cinnamon sugar! hahaha
that does seem counterproductive ;)
my husband says that ants get attracted by cinnamon rolls(I think he was kidding) as we have cinnamon rolls before and no ants at the time
i love cinnamon sugar
me too. when we were kids we put it on our pancakes instead of syrup
oh jmc i did too . if you like bananas, cinnamon is great on that too cinnamon/sugar
we always called the little ones "sugar ants" because they are attracted to sugar. but I don't really have any here in this room, they just come in this window next to my desk.
and on pancakes
whosh sugar on bananas sounds too sweet for me!
I know this sounds weird, but we loved it. My aunt would give us a shaker of powdered jello. We would put it on toast like cinnamon sugar.
hokie do you have anything you can spray on the ground outside ?
oh on pancakes. . .that is possible
powered jello is mainly sugar so that makes sense and you get all the pretty colors
cinnamon sugar on pancakes yum
And bananas rolled in powdered jello.
interesting, bea. my SIL taught me frozen grapes - you wash grapes, put them in a ziploc with a box of grape jello and shake, then freeze, and they are delicious
powdered jello on toast so much better then jelly or jam lol
Yes, we do the frozen grapes without the jello. Will try the jello on them next time.
ok, gotta get ready for a mt. bike ride. 17 left for later. I foresee the list in my future.
have a nice ride hokie
I love jam on toast. Especially home made jam.
orange marmalade on toast for me
Yes, my peach and blueberry jams are yummy on toast.
or ginger marmalade
We also like pepper jelly on toast with bacon or sausage. That is good.
but right now my go to sweet is a little ginger syrup in plain yoghurt
oh bzzn jalepeno?
Ooo, pepper jelly and cream cheese, I love that.
jmc greek yogurt or regular yogurt?
dang you are making me hungry
*Stares at crackers on desk, wishes she had pepper jelly
i have never had pepper jelly
Yes, a little bit of jalepeno. Mostly colored bell peppers. Just enough spicy peppers to give it a kick at the end.
I prefer greek but not important as long as it is plain and not vanilla
oh it is wonderful if you like spicy MLF
i like spicy but not too spicy
I only buy plain yoghurt so that I can control the sweet. . . if any. Like it fine without sweet
Good morning all, and help plz. Clue for 2nd re 5/12 plz and I too love pepper jelly and cream cheese...on a bagel. Yum!
well there are varying degrees of spicy with pepper jelly just like with most things spicy and you can mix it with another jelly like tomato jelly
greek plain yogurt though sour i still love it
never had tomato jelly,, i am not one for regular tomatoes so doesn't sound good to me
pcal....it's like the first one....different vowel on the end....
tks pen will look
hi penq
hi jm...
One more annoying covid related inconvenience...My library card needs to be renewed so I can continue reading books downloaded to my tablet. Library still closed...
have you tried emailing someone at the library?
pen I think we are looking at different words. First re is re 5/14 which I have. Also have next word which is re 5/12. Need 3rd re which is 2nd re 5/12.
No one at the library to call or email...
MLF there are other options. . .cucumber jelly is very refreshing if not made too sweet
Third re/12 is same as second with different vowel at end
there are three RE 12 words....two are almost the same....
ok, tks again will keep looking
bzzn give it a try with the call/email. A lot places that are closed still are staffing customer service
just take the one that ends with a vowel and change it....don't look for it...it's twisty....
... the first two re5/12 are anagrams
I will, jm. Thanks. Guess I could pick a real book off our shelf. =)
geez! was sure I had tried that already! FWs
other re5/12 is to do a play on stage
congrats....
haha no sense getting carried away bzzn
I'm off for the day...See you all tomorrow.
... ain't that always the way ... do it too often myself
ty phae
bye bzzn
bye bea....

hi all. i have no 8s or 7s. clues welcome with stats.
bzzn do you use book bub? Lots of free books to download. Works with kindle, don't know about other readers/tablets

ar words: need clues for the 7 and 8.
clued already below mlf
i mean mkg
just got the ar words. whew. that took a me a while. ty.
sorry. i confused other clues like the french notebook and the acid in vinegar with the ar 7 and 8. ugh.
I got the ar8 but not the 7 yet. some day.
ha! finally got the 7!
Person who runs a register without the H is the simplest clue for ca6/24
Gads WITHOUT THE S, sorry
It is not a long jump from the 8 to the 7 : D
Afternoon all - trying to think about who runs a register :)
Aaaaah - nm!
They often handle a lot of paper money, hence the term
Once I read further and realised that it was the S that was missing, it all became clear :)
but in matty's case they put on the pounds :D
english currency joke
There is probably some cutesy UK term for register I don't know? County Machine?
Haaahaa!
Aaah - the till. You pay at the till
morning all
Some people here use that term too.
Although, we prefer stills.
:D
I shall get a beer shortly. It's the thing I look forward to a bit too much, I think, at the moment. Jeff played golf today (despite the wind and intermittent rain) - I've been in at the computer all day, mostly working
Cheers Matty.
Slante!
Nothing says YAY better than a cold beer at the end of a long day.
takes the edge off working all day I think
although I don't drink beer
I'm looking forward to one or two this evening for sure
Yeah - something to look forward to and to take the edge off things
What's your tipple of choice, Ru?
but i get the process :D
Usually a glass of wine Matty, but i've been off wine for a month (dieting)
Well you're in a good spot for wine mr rocks
funny how it worked out that way mool :D
I do like wine. too. And gin. I'm an equal opportunity imbiber
total coincidence I'm sure
in hard alcohol i like scotch, bourbon, and gin in that order Gin in the summer
it's not a bad beer area for that matter either
no we have great breweries here for sure
mad fritz, russian River Brewing co.. etc
it is a good area for food and drink for sure
yeah, it's where I came into the US...first taste of American beer in the US was Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale followed up by Mendocino Redtail Ale
Bear Republic
Anderson Valley
not so much for single men over 60 though :D
mad fritz! that's what my cat is.
Notice how Hursh can always bring the conversation back to cats? : D
it's pretty easy to do lol
How many cats you have hursh?
Unfortunate for Ru, as the subject of cats is verboten for him now. : D
i have 3
cool, me too
fritz wreaked some havoc last night
(lips are zipped)
oh yeah?
I was just about to look up the nursery rhyme/song about little cats, but realised I really didn't want to do that on my work computer ;) Now someone will ask me what I mean, but I can't look it up!
yeah, knocked over a glass candle and the edge broke and there were little pieces of glass on the floor
ah, yes...
also knocked over my water bottle but that didn't do any actual damage
I once left my laptop on the sofa, came out next morning to find a vase laying on it with flowers strewn on the floor
fun times
my cats like to open the cupboards and draws and go exploring in the night
now he's pestering Opie by batting his tail when he was trying to sleep
(zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz\nzzzzzzz)
heh
May I have a nudge please....on the ho6/21?
I think our dog thinks it's a cat
perhaps someone who deals with ropes matty
a person who lifts a beer matty :D
the funniest thing fritz does is chase his tail, but ONLY in the bathtub and ONLY if he doesn't think you're watching. if he sees you peek in he will stop.
Is that not the 7?
oh sorry
look at my clue matty
You know it would be bad if you posted about.....wreaking havoc Ru. And thanks for blowing the chat width.
the 6 is someone who sells/makes stockings and socks
oh.. a sock person
A person who lifts a beer....me! Ah, thanks mool
yw
I thought an ho6 was someone with a nylons fetish : D
and don't forget to lop the H off that for another word
or a guy who is well endowed is ho6
well it could be someone who is more like a common canadian put-down
hmm, the Cs are a bit tough
ceriously :)
phantom: hectic
only c I have is cr46 and how I feel about this grid
well, there's french notebook
have one c to go...some unusual ones in there
an odd spelling for a benign mass one might have in one's body
what you do when you need to refer to another book in your writing, and the person who does so
haha I would have to know french. but i got the mass ty
there's a sort of jagged rock word
and ce4/6
and a 5 that rhymes with ernie's pal on sesame street
ty hursh that moved me right along!
I made 1/2 way
there's also a character out of game of thrones
and plural
rats, i didn't watch dem thrones, only know a couple character names
yesss, guessed it anyway
never watched GOT waaaaaay to violent for me
and another one that sounds vaguely like the acid in vinegar with an extra letter
without the leading letter of course
thanks moo
yw
only one left now, from the middle C
i mean, of the C words. 6 other things left also.
haha yes I understood you meant C words
ooh i just found a nice sh6
All done. Anything before I go?
oh, matty, yes, i have ra8, what is the other 8?
It's ar8
It's trickier, in my opinion than the ra8
well that would be why i found the less tricky one first
ar8/50
got it!
that leaves my middle C, and a P and a T, all 6 letter wods.
words
hello everyone..I have a cat story. On Feb 29th we had one black male cat Onyx our granddaughter couldn't keep. We now have 7 cats. On Mar1st we took in a skinny little tabby boy and on March 2nd a grey female not much bigger. On April 30 the grey gave birth to 4 kittens. We figure she must have been expecting when she came to our back door.
Hurrah!
Right, I'm off now. Have a great day all!
wow cool west
We think we might have homes for 3 of the 4 kittens who are darling btw but all our shelters are shut down. Margaret, the mother and Owen the tabby will be fixed as soon as the vet opens but OMG 7 cats
Sounds as if you're a cat magnet, west! Well done. Our cats have always been strays who rocked up to the door one day and never left. It shows they really want to be with you.
pregnant cats always seek a house to be taken in, in my experience
We certainly are cat magnets. One night a raccoon even showed up at the door. The word must have gotten around.
that is how I got several of my cats. Mama came, gave birth, and then hit the road.
bye matty
cr6 = Scrooge's clerk Bob - it
The ones that showed up at our house were all males. Two had already been doctored but we got the latest one done and since then, he is the fattest, laziest cat ever.
well so far Margaret named after Margaret Brennan host of Face The Nation cuz she's kind of bossy is a good mom.
lol
Awwww!
got my T6! one word left!!!
I have 11 left.
almost there hydra
ah, there's the last c
I'm stuck on p and r words.

woohoo!
that is nice news, car.
is the ac 6 a brand name for vinegar?
its what vinegar is, chemically
oh -- to me vinegar is vinegar -- acidic maybe, but that isn't there
just change one vowel nan, and you have it
one vowel AND one consonant
and one consonant -- ty vash
I somehow missed that...It sounds similar
Fridays are so damn long (she said to a room full of people who don't work)
uhhhh...I am supposed to be working
something else new learned -- but as someone said the other day -- at our age learning something new isn't difficult, the trick is to remember it
and I've finished work ...
but at least you can chat here.

I like that word too
uh haha no
liking a word and wanting to travel to exotic places are two very different things lol
I like the word and would want to travel there :)
*!*~*!* thanks for the help :)
whoo hooo cyber
when you think of hurshy, think of cats and then think scaredy-cat
It saddens me to think that our long distance travel days are over. I had hoped for another trip to Europe this spring, but covid-19 has put the kibosh on that and possiblly for next year as well. Still hoping for a Panama cruise in the future though -- maybe iin 2021 or 22 if we are still able.
haha hursh!
I'd rather be in nepal than the US
Could I have a clue for ca6 please?
I think that is only mutually exclusive in temporal existence
french notebook, jaz
*jax
well the US is no picnic, i'll give you that. but i like to be in places where the signage is in the alphabet i know.
at least i can puzzle out some word parts if i know the alphabet
I would like to go to Nepal and back to Scotland and to Ireland. . . and anywhere I have never been before including Kansas!
I can understand that, hurshy -- it's why the hesitated to take the czech rapid transit on our own -- by the time we figured out where we were, the station had gone by
ditto the anywhere I havent been before
Thanks nan
yw jax
hagd everyone - stay safe
ah I see its stick the same ending of every word game
Strange, I am finding that many of these words have different endings.
We have a trip planned to Chile and Argentina in December. I'm half hoping we can pull it off, and half hoping it gets cancelled so that we don't have to decide....
I'm back and on the list and can't find the very first word!
Check the chat, it's been clued a bunch of times
ok. that tells me it's a weird one then. will look. also can't find 3 ar's so it may be the wrong time for me to be looking.
still 9 left with the list. I need a nap. TTFN
stats only please for the stand alone 8?
ok, I'm still here instead of napping. wanted to finish.
both 8s are connected to other words
I assume you mean ar8/50 though
well, looked up 3 or 4, trying morewords for the first time. will take me a while to get used to that site. anyhoo, finished, see y'all tomorrow.
could I have a clue for the first th5/14 please?
NM got it
Could i have a clue for cr6/24 please?

Does the ar7 start off with the ar4 before it?
could anyone clue the ar8 please
It is probably the pl of the ar7 before it.
I dont have that lol
It's not. Gimme a sec...
Nm I got it thanks Champ
I didn't any clues?
starts from the first column A....uses the ar4/6, add a vowel and the ending that means "one who does or is"
I know...sucky clue...sorry!
the ar7 means very old Marc
got them both thanks
Champ, are you still here? Why don't real estate listings include number of bedrooms anymore?
They do! What website are you using?
Maybe it is a thing in my area.
I looked up my parents old house, and there were no bedroom listings. And none for any of the houses in the area.
If you're looking up past sales on Zillow or anything other than your local listing site, you'll get erroneous information. Your main MLS will have current info. If you need something, just let me know and I'll pull it for you. Happy to help.
Sadly, though everyone loves Zillow...their info isn't kept current.
And is usually inaccurate.
That is funny. When I was looking around the internet for the answer I saw an article called "Why Real Estate agents hate Zillow". Thanks for the offer to help. It's no big deal. I was just curious at the amount of residents listed in some of the houses, most of which are only 4 bedrooms. 16 people in a 4 bedroom house??
DON'T GET ME STARTED. ,I had a seller yell at me for including their refrigerator (not included in Texas), because Zillow had it included. ERRONEOUSLY.
User friendly doesn't mean "accurate".
I could go on, but won't clog the chog with that nonsense.
Well, I appreciate any tips you can offer, even though I am many dollars away from being a buyer.
help with first ce5 pls. hi all
c + a jumble of the grain that goes with Chinese food
Or a lead female character from Game of Thrones, if you watched

argh, another "little" grid -- diving in
I can't believe the things that come out of the US Presidents mouth - just shameful
OMG what did he say now?
Just saw the news clip - hang on find it
In the middle of a news conference on improving jobs numbers Friday, President Donald Trump said George Floyd was "hopefully looking down and feeling good." "Hopefully George is looking down right now and saying, 'this is a great thing that's happening for our country.' This is a great day for him. It's a great day for everybody. This is a great day for everybody.
totally speechless -- i will not go on a rant out of respect for the fact that the focus of this chat is the game, not the stupendoulsy racist idiot in the white house
I had a feeling that was the quote.
I honestly think sometimes he is just stupid - maybe he just thinks the people who vote for him are stupid and gullible. Probably why he repeats things 3 times !
(and thanks for sharing)
Even shock me
Sadly, it didn't even shock me
not stupid, he's a malnar (malicious narcissist) -- he believes he is god, more or less
Sorry - perhaps shouldn't have brought it up here but I was just so shocked.
Oh, he is stupid. Not just that he doesn't know things, but that he's an immensely stupid, incurious individual
yeah, i didn't mean he was smart, i meant that when he says crap like this it's because he's a malnar
Yes. He is a host of ugly characteristics.
he repeats everything three times because that is a good technique to convince people you're not lying -- because he knows he's lying
oops, i said a word in the grid, going to the penalty box
I have 8 words left. They're from six squares, five letters. They're all fours and fives. And I'm trying to decide whether to keep going or to throw in the towel.
I'm finding this little one toughish
perhaps one of us can clue ya
I haven't listed so I don't know what I'm missing
what are the 8's please?
i just listed and it's not helping me much LOL
AR 8/50, RA 8/50
got the ra8
Woot!
The AR is weird. There's also a seven associated with it, but it's not a plural.
OFFS how can I have had the ho7 but not the ho5 it's based on?
that middle C has got a lot to answer for IMHO
Down to one. How can I not find a four letter word? Four letter words are most of my vocabulary!
go go go samantha !!!
Oh for fucks sake. I've just spent ten minutes chasing down a phantom.
is it a C Samantha?
Congrats Sam!!
I *have* eleven R words, but the stats only recognize ten of them. Let's see if a reload helps.
Bye everyone
Bye lynxxx
Aaaand a reload is no help. Oh well, I'm done here.
15 to go here, thinking about eating instead
fw, had to use the morewords website for a few of those weird ones
