my dad did the most brilliant thing at his house - they have a huge deck, with a table on it where he and his wife would sit to eat dinner, lunch, coffee, whatever. he installed a ceiling fan over it, outside....never a bug did bother them

one of the TEACHERS drove me round the bend with her stupid zoom class meetings. EVERY class had to feature comedy routines by her four year old, and her showing the class her latest art projects. I about spit out my teeth laughing one day, when I student blurted out "wow, you need a lot of validation, don't you?"
the motivated students who were doing well before covid did fine with zoom. The ones who were having trouble before basically sunk.
If they have trouble self-motivating and organizing, this distance learning was terrible for them.

I for one feel very disconnected in a virtual meeting. It is incredibly hard for me to connect with my audience which is a large part of the process.

Florida does not report all cases. They fire individuals who are keep stats because they won't skew the data.
That doesn't make a difference if people are being careful Molly. I live in the OKanagan VAlley which is also heavily populated with seniors (people come here to retire) and the only new case we have had in the last 3 weeks was someone who had been working in Alberta. Our entire health care zone covers the entire southern half of our province other than the southwest coastal region and we have only had that one new case in the entire region.

Just to point out that AFAIK there are so far no risk factors that change how likely you are to catch the virus. Only how likely you are to be very ill from it. So a place having an elderly population doesn’t make it more likely to have more cases (though the way retirement homes are set up makes it easier for it to spread, but that’s a bit different)

The only area in the states that is doing really well is the northeast -- the states that got together with NY to fight it.

That's what I was thinking. I have to go to the bank sometime soon to deposit a check that is too big to deposit online. It's not that big :D

It's only $1200. My mortgage was sold recently and the new lender messed up the excrow account. I knew they would figure it out at some point.

One of the joys of my life was when I figured out how to deposit a check with my cell phohe.

My bank has an app that you can load onto a tablet (maybe even a desktop or laptop) and make deposits from the app. I can't do it on my cell phone. That's where my Luddite tendencies are at their finest.
My bank, upload the application, take a picture of the check, fill out the deposit information, done.

I just checked and my bank has upped the limit on what you can deposit via mobile banking (I haven't actually deposited a check in ages) and I was able to do it on my i-pad. Yay!

Both of my dogs have started to cram themselves down at the foot of the bed at night (175 lb of dog total) to escape my attention in the night. I guess there is only so much they can take :D

I have a black-and-tan coonhound and a mutt that is mostly Brittany. I am going to downsize when they go (and they are both very elderly). I hope that doesn't sound heartless, but I always need a dog.
I have a friend who bread Cavalier's. They are wonderful dogs.

Yes, I need a dog I can pick up and put in the SUV. I can't pick up either of them and they are so old they won't jump up into it. Makes taking them to the vet (which these days happens frequently) quite a challenge. I was actually thinking about a beagle. But, then, they are snooty. Schultz nailed the breed with Snoopy :D
I will probably wind up getting a mutt from the pound or a pet rescue. I just don't want to get a dog that has a lot of behavioral baggage.
My Cavalier is my first dog as an adult. I would not even consider getting another breed. I have seen websites for rescue Cavaliers. That is probably what I will do next.
