9:50 am

hokie two sc 5/14 r 5/16?

9:51 am

good morning all - just starting out on this one

the sc5's are 12, 16, 14

9:52 am

i started about a half hour ago or so

hey nan

9:52 am

ty hoie

9:52 am

hokie

2 left! both 5's

9:56 am

well the 8 is easy enough to find

ru!

9:57 am

hi ruru

I'm going to have to break and come back later for these last 2. just not able to see or monkey.

9:57 am

what are the stats hokie

9:57 am

?

9:58 am

sepeak for yourself, ru -- I never find them without a call

10:03 am

ah - rodney dangerfield

10:10 am

It is interesting who thinks of Aretha and who thinks of Rodney

10:10 am

<--- in the aretha camp

10:11 am

aretha franklin?

10:11 am

thought she was a singer

10:11 am

there is only ONE Aretha nan:D

10:12 am

don't know the assciation between her and the 8

10:12 am

re8 was her big hit

10:12 am

Rodney built his entire routine on it

10:13 am

oh -- was never a fan

10:13 am

*passes out*

10:15 am

don't like the screamers and the moaners

10:16 am

Screamer and moaner? Aretha Franklin? She is The Queen of Soul. Wow.

10:16 am

Oh.. i Like both of those :D

10:18 am

yes, well - I was thinking on stage, while you are obviously in a different locale

10:25 am

i'm not even THAT big a fan of hers, but i like and re8 her well enough that such a characterization bothers me!

10:26 am

i guess i mean i re7 her lol

10:27 am

I wasn't referring to personality, hursh, but to performance style -- and she isn't the only one

10:28 am

that is what i was referring to as well

10:28 am

i don't really know anything about her personality

10:29 am

i wonder if people feel similarly bothered when i say that i don't like Meryl Streep's acting

10:30 am

I don't like jazz for much the same reason -- it's fine when the melody is kept somewhat intact, but when it becomes just a bunch of noise and notes with everyone in the ensemble doing their own thing and obviously not listenting to each other or making any attempt to blend in to anything with any semblance of a tune --- then it is terrible to my ear

10:32 am

Hurshy have you seen Anne With An E on Netflix? If so, what did you think?

10:32 am

i liked the first episode well enough, but after that it started to veer way off from the books, so i did not continue with it

10:33 am

I have a problem with the girl playing Anne. Not at all the way I imagined her.

10:34 am

i feel like nobody ever is the way one imagines a book character :)

10:34 am

that's how i felt about Gilbert, particularly, from the Megan Follows version

10:35 am

morning all

10:36 am

I'm never sure why a person feels like they need to re-write a well-loved story that was a best-seller

10:37 am

same here. i mean i guess sometimes things get left out just because of time, but, CHANGING things, yeah

10:41 am

I like the actor cast in Outlander but he is not Jamie Fraser

10:42 am

Hi all. Clue for re7/32, please?

10:42 am

if something crosses something else again, i guess it re7 it?

10:43 am

putting pieces back together in surgery

10:43 am

Well he may not be Jamie Fraser, but he is very nice to look at

10:43 am

no, i see it just means cutting something OUT

10:43 am

that's why I said I like him, just not what I pictured when reading

10:44 am

ty :-)

10:45 am

down to 50 -- back after breakfast

10:46 am

You are correct Hursh. I don't think that word means what Carla thinks it means : D

10:47 am

well it didn't mean what i thought it meant either, so, guess we were in the same boat there initially

10:48 am

doesn't it mean to remove a piece of something?

10:49 am

yes. i had initially said i thought it might be to cross something again, which was incorrect

10:49 am

cut out (tissue or part of an organ)

10:49 am

the "re" in it is not acting as an "again" prefix i guess in this one

10:58 am

oooh, pa6/24, space word!

10:59 am

I asled earlier for the pa 6/24 and got the second one. Clue for the first, pls

11:02 am

earlier clue given pa6, person who likes the Pope and pl

11:04 am

ty Biltong

11:04 am

Actually she got the measure of distance one first

11:05 am

yw, bichon

11:05 am

i have si 5 ending in n and i need a clue for the other si 5 pls?

11:06 am

yes, si5! you say when you're enthused

11:07 am

Often followed by Bob

11:07 am

ty, hurshy

11:08 am

*Doesn't want to break it to Hurshy that people don't say that anymore

11:08 am

Well, not people under 60

11:08 am

well it works as a clue even if people don't say it anymore lol

11:09 am

"people" don't tend to say "shall" anymore either, but i do, cause i like it

11:09 am

i have no idea

11:09 am

ok MLF, it ends with a double vowel

11:09 am

I'm guess the things you say are uniquely your own, Hursh

11:09 am

ty

11:12 am

howdy again. had to take Winston out.

11:12 am

still 2 left!

11:12 am

megan follows and anne shirley are my two favorite anne's

11:12 am

BBL. Thanks for the clues :-)

11:14 am

I've probably said yes si5 bob and Im' under 60

11:14 am

but I'm also a dork

11:15 am

anyone want to guess my last D5?

11:15 am

hokie do you want us to respond to that?:D

11:16 am

water coming out of a spigot?

11:16 am

no need

11:16 am

nope

11:17 am

insp5?

11:17 am

see if I can knock off any of these last 40

11:17 am

And therein, Carla explains the reason someone under 60 would use that phrase'

11:17 am

there are 2 d5's that use the inventive pt

11:18 am

moo, care to guess my last D5 or P5?

11:18 am

yes, i have both those, thx nan

11:18 am

exactly, molly

11:18 am

still have a D left

11:19 am

and I have 10 P's remaining

11:19 am

well, you're no help

11:19 am

i have 9 p words to find

11:19 am

Inventive past tense?

11:20 am

she thinks it's american pt, but I think it's british english

11:20 am

you know, -t for -ed

11:20 am

missing one d also but don't know if it is a 5

11:21 am

Oh, that is definitely not American

11:21 am

I don't assign a nationality to it, carla -- just that it is not proper english

11:21 am

we've discussed it before, I thought nan was saying americans did it, but I guess I was misremembering

11:21 am

4 d words to go

11:22 am

almost there ML

11:23 am

oh forgot about the other p 's

11:23 am

mool nope

11:24 am

I feel like I have tried every possible 5 letter combo for both D and P

11:25 am

which p carla?

11:25 am

hokie is it di or dp?

11:25 am

left

11:25 am

21 to go

11:25 am

what do you mean, mlfan? there's a dp?

11:25 am

i mean dr sorry

11:26 am

no idea, I'm not on the list

11:26 am

i have two dr 5/12's

11:26 am

thought you had all the p's but one

11:27 am

I do. I need 1 D5 and 1 left P5

11:27 am

I have 4 dr5s so far

11:27 am

only one di5

11:27 am

same here mool

11:28 am

ok, I don't see a di5 so I will try that, thx

11:28 am

ty mool -- must be the d I am missing

11:29 am

oh yeah, that was what I was missing

11:29 am

just found it

11:29 am

sounds like a prefix for a medical condition

11:30 am

I have no idea how I still haven't typed it yet

11:30 am

yeah, me neither

11:31 am

are you talking about the all-encompassing medical condition word?

11:31 am

or a specific one?

11:31 am

found, ty again

11:32 am

no, it's specific to alcoholism

11:32 am

normally has a word for "out of control person" at the end of it

11:32 am

so, not sirrhosis (sp?) then

11:32 am

ah no

11:33 am

more mental than physiological

11:33 am

Sirrhosis is the knight of alcoholic livers

11:33 am

I must have been rendered brain dead at some point this morning. reached my max.

11:33 am

okay, ends in a preposition :)

11:34 am

hmm, can someone remind me what a preposition is

11:34 am

"a joining word"

11:35 am

isn't that a conjunction

11:35 am

oh yeah duh

11:35 am

lol

11:35 am

conjunction junction what's your function

11:36 am

preposition normally proceeds a noun or pronoun....had to look it up

11:36 am

for instance if you sat on the chair...the on is a preposition

11:37 am

missing 2 r's -- wonder if they are related

11:37 am

possibly...

11:37 am

I have 8 (I think) combos

11:38 am

missing 2 r's off the bottom to

11:38 am

last two r's were a combo too

11:38 am

I think I counted 11 related R's

11:38 am

11 sets

11:39 am

there you go, trust hoke

11:39 am

I missed two off the bottom, didn't scroll down far enouhg

11:39 am

11 to go...5 of them are Ps

11:40 am

which P?

11:40 am

the left P

11:40 am

8 sets of r's here, but only missing 2 words

11:40 am

found one

11:41 am

guess it depends on how you define a set

11:41 am

depression. still trying to think of a mental alcohlic condition that would start a di word

11:41 am

0h forgot the bottom r -- missing 3 there

11:41 am

yeah, some that I think are sets others may not

11:42 am

want a different clue hoke?

11:42 am

I should probably just look it up, but if you want to try

11:42 am

ends in a vowel

11:43 am

I am sure I have tried everything possible that ends in a vowel, but will try again

11:43 am

well the word is really not a word...meaning it normally wouldn't stand alone

11:43 am

but basically it's a slang way of referring to the whole word

11:43 am

perhaps that might help with the vowel

11:43 am

do you want a really basic clue?

11:44 am

I think if someone just would tell me the 3rd letter that would be great

11:44 am

begins with what goes with chips

11:45 am

ok, trying everything now

11:45 am

finally! I swear I tried that

11:45 am

thx all

11:45 am

now 1 P5 left

11:46 am

not getting anywhere - off to the list

11:48 am

10 left here

11:48 am

4 P's 4 S's an a and a T

11:49 am

oh, well found 2 S's

11:49 am

and the T

11:49 am

er

11:50 am

found my A...this is going well

11:51 am

yeah, I got down to 2 so you should be able to finish. I think I got 4 inadvertently from the chat

11:51 am

oh

11:52 am

well got the second letter on the di so far

11:52 am

the s's were a struggle at first and then they just all came at once

11:53 am

yeah, the words I've been missing so far weren't hard for the most part

11:53 am

yeah, the 4 I got from the chat were mostly regular words

11:53 am

ah, there's my last 7

11:53 am

actually 5, was forgetting a pl

11:53 am

4 to go

11:53 am

2P and 2S

11:54 am

2x4 a 5 and a 6

11:54 am

still 1 P :D

11:55 am

1 S down

11:57 am

I may have found your p

11:57 am

do tell

11:57 am

Well this is going to be a bit lateral...

11:57 am

but perhaps if you were to describe public reaction speak, you might call it p5

11:57 am

lol, not my day for that

11:58 am

reaction-relations

11:58 am

wow, did not plug my brain in this morning

11:59 am

I'm blaming the covid shot -- wipes out part of our brain

11:59 am

still trying to get an appointment here

11:59 am

I'm not sure moo's had one

12:00 pm

I'm just blaming getting older for me

12:00 pm

going by age here, mool -- the one time when old age is a plus!

12:00 pm

I think I have the word you're saying moo, but it's part of a set, so I'm not sure if that's what you mean or not

12:01 pm

*which, by the way, is most likely the real cause of my disolving brain

12:01 pm

aha! got it! TADA

12:01 pm

and I did it all by myself!

12:02 pm

hehe - thanks to the village

12:02 pm

wtg carla

12:03 pm

*!*~*!* also thanks to the village and lickety

12:03 pm

an italian plural with a very specific musical definition. now I'm singing row row row your boat.

12:03 pm

wtg hoke!

12:03 pm

still 2 left here

12:04 pm

was it the pr5?

12:04 pm

well, I'm glad my last 2 were words I didn't know but I still don't know how I didn't monkey them, knowing they were 5's

12:04 pm

what are you missing mool?

12:04 pm

yes, it was a pr5

12:04 pm

a P and an S

12:05 pm

upper S?

12:05 pm

yes

12:05 pm

missing a 4 and a 6

12:05 pm

I will keep my guess to myself since I know you want to find it

12:05 pm

ok, my guess was wrong

12:06 pm

oh, but an S may have been my last 4, so could be that

12:06 pm

there is a po 6 that makes no sense whatsoever

12:06 pm

yeah, I have a guess for a P6

12:07 pm

I think I know the one, nan. I also thought it was ridic

12:08 pm

se 4 - branch of a clan

12:08 pm

but that's not the one I was guessing

12:08 pm

yeah, have that one

12:08 pm

it's part of a combo

12:08 pm

which, mool?

12:08 pm

I think it's an S4 that goes backward

12:08 pm

the s4

12:09 pm

in fact there are two s4s that vaguely been part of a group :)

12:09 pm

I have one po6

12:09 pm

I predict you will find the s4

12:10 pm

group(s) of like thinkers

12:10 pm

I think it's a pa6

12:10 pm

parts of minutes

12:10 pm

no, he said he has that

12:11 pm

yep, was pa6

12:11 pm

oh - thought he said he had the branch of a clan

12:11 pm

should've watched more scifi

12:11 pm

I di have the branch of clan

12:12 pm

how about the pattern for a tartan?

12:12 pm

yeah, I thought that was a made-up word for star wars. that was one I got from the chat

12:12 pm

no, it's a real term

12:12 pm

I foretell he will see it

12:12 pm

it's I think how much distance light travels in a second

12:13 pm

I have that one :)

12:13 pm

ok, then IDK

12:14 pm

found it

12:14 pm

are you sure it is an se 4?

12:14 pm

which one?

12:14 pm

oh, it was the one you clued hoke

12:14 pm

I though you were thinking of the foreteller

12:14 pm

aha! the scot version

12:14 pm

yeah

12:15 pm

that was the one I meant, I forgot the other was there

12:15 pm

was just getting ready to type it was scottish

12:16 pm

well that's fw

12:16 pm

thx for the help :)

12:16 pm

well done

12:16 pm

you've lost me -- which se 4 were you missing? the only two scottish ones I see are the one that is the clan branch and the tartan pattern

12:16 pm

it was the sp4

12:17 pm

tartan fabric is not plaid

12:17 pm

oh -- thought he was looking for an se 4

12:17 pm

I'm not sure what the tartan fabric is

12:18 pm

nobody said it was, bichon

12:18 pm

not the fabric -- the pattern for the weavee

12:18 pm

* weave

12:19 pm

ah, a babblet I never knew the meaning of

12:19 pm

alrighty then, gotta go. good babbling with y'all.

12:20 pm

me too -- hagd everyone - hope you get that shot soon, mool

12:25 pm

All right everyone. Line up quick. Nan wants us all vaccinated. I'm getting a t-shirt that says I GOT JABBED BECAUSE OF NAN!!!

1:13 pm

I'll be first in line when they let me :)

1:14 pm

I've had both!

1:14 pm

that's great!

1:15 pm

Yes!

1:15 pm

MA opens up vaccinations to everyone over 16 on april 19

1:15 pm

Great!

1:16 pm

Mael, your profile pic is soooo cute!!

1:17 pm

thank you! it's a couple years old, they are much bigger now. My daughter is almost 7 and the little dude is 5 :)

1:18 pm

Aaawww

1:30 pm

14 left, haven't listed, pretty stuck now though

1:31 pm

oh, nevermind, 10 left

1:33 pm

but can you actually get an appointment, is the question

1:34 pm

here? it'll be the thunderdome for a bit. I might wake up at 4am and see if I get lucky

1:34 pm

idk why they do not have waiting lists. in my state there are 4 pharmacy stores that "have" vaccines, plus state-run clinics, and when you try to get an appointment with any of these, it just says "no appointments available". so it's like, what, check back... when? like, there is zero info. idk why they wouldn't make waitlists so that things could proceed in an orderly fashion.

1:39 pm

I know, it feels designed to maximize the difficulty for those booking appointments

1:40 pm

I got my father in law one a month back and it involved two and a half hours of refreshing the same page every twenty seconds and a browser add on to autofill forms

1:40 pm

I'm missing one D, one R and 3 Ps. Sigh.

1:41 pm

2 5s and 3 6s. I was very much hoping I could finish without listing, it feels like so much more of an accomplishment haha

1:53 pm

you finished mael?

2:06 pm

I think it is ridiculous that there are no waiting lists for the vaccinations. This whole process is being handled very poorly. I have heard of people having to drive two hours to get their shots.

mael, I can guess your D & P, both 5s

molly, are you MD or VA? I think you are MD. I think VA has been a mess, but some parts must be doing good because they are high in the list of vaccinated people.

3:52 pm

ra

4:13 pm

I am in Maryland. And I wasn't commenting on my state so much as what I have been hearing from people in several states.

4:46 pm

my mom now informs me that there is GOING to be a waiting list in our state rolling out sometime soon, maybe next week. so that's better!!

4:49 pm

Cool!

4:51 pm

i've thought it was rather unfair that you get free donuts for being vaccinated when like, not everyone is even able to. as if like you need a reward anyway. getting the vaccine IS a reward, why should you get free donuts on top of that when the rest of us want the vaccine too

4:52 pm

not that my body needs donuts anyway lol

4:55 pm

ugh, don't you hate it when you forget to enter plurals

6:11 pm

resect

I think it's unfair I can't eat delicious doughnuts due to celiac disease.

and my county health dept. has a waiting list, I got on it before I found an appt at a pharmacy.

and my friend here got hers from a walgreens waiting list

6:22 pm

sorry you can't have donuts hoke

PS - the free Krispy Kremes are for every day until the end of the year. So, it's only really unfair if you plan on going every single day. I think it's a nice incentive program. Oddly some people don't want the vaccine.

6:23 pm

yeah but the people who don't want the vaccine... are they really going to be swayed by free donuts?

I don't know, but I think it's a nice gesture by a company in a horrible time, and I can't believe there was a backlash. People just want to complain about everything.

6:31 pm

I got my free KK donut. I didn't even need to show my vax card. They just scanned me for the Bill Gates microchip.

the youngest and I went on the way home from our shots and the girl on the drive-thru speaker was like, "there's 2 of you in the car? and you both have cards?" but then she didn't really ask to see them at the window but I had them in my hand so I was like, here's the cards!

and then I had to smell how wonderful they smelled while he ate them

I have said for years if I could ever eat gluten again, KK or pizza would be the first thing.

6:45 pm

Free doughnuts are good no matter what the reason. And I commend Kristy Kreme for motivating people to get vaccinated. Now, where is the free beer? : D

6:47 pm

i wasn't REALLY complaining, just you know, being silly. but LOL @dauber

6:47 pm

Does Carla have Celiac disease? Who knew?

6:49 pm

Reading about the difficulties some of you are having in getting your shots with appointments and distribution--we have the opposite problem where the appointment process is quick, but the supply is terrible. Our distribution in town is actually set up as a two lane drive-through. The drive-through is seamless; you go the the entrance at the local legion, show your I.D, then you are told to get in lane one or two, you drive up to the kiosk, show your I.D again, hold your arm out the window, and boom, you are done. They just ask that you park for 15 minutes to get a final check before going home.

6:54 pm

Just need more vaccine is all :(

free beer? you know I can't drink that, molly!

crossy, I think we are having trouble getting appts. because there aren't vaccines available.

7:14 pm

FW! i had to list w 17 left, but the sheer number of stupid misses was maddening

well done!

7:35 pm

wow fun grid - first pass and 31 left

7:37 pm

top and bottom row greyed - 26 to go.

Hi Harry! I agree, I thought it was a fun one too.

7:49 pm

17 now and fairly stuck

7:51 pm

14

7:51 pm

12 here.....

7:52 pm

hi une :)

7:54 pm

12. isn't priapet a word?

7:54 pm

probably totally butchering it

7:56 pm

Hey harry :-)

7:57 pm

10!

7:59 pm

going to the list.

8:01 pm

grrr missed the 7/8

8:02 pm

done! good night

9:11 pm

Omg tonight's super moon!!!

10:02 pm

hope you're not affect by the flooding une?

10:10 pm

I think Une is gone, ru

10:21 pm

guess so

10:25 pm

I'm still here.....a little hail damage on the roof but lucked out..... recordbreaking rain and minpin lost his mind in all the thunder and lightning!

10:30 pm

Is that the one that is heading to Augusta tomorrow and Wed.?

10:31 pm
