Clues are up
ty lickety!
holy cow, I am awake at the flip!!!! Can't remember the last time this happened - must be years now!

wow!! g'day trif. nice to see you. xx

oh and it has the High tile in it.
one husband up for grabs.....please take...... free to a good home.... *sigh*
no thanks...LOL
i'll pay his airfare whatever....
has been to the vet, house-broken, knows how to clean a toilet.
LOL, had my hubby for over 40 years. Still miss him.

LOL ursh

aahh thanks
Rose, would you believe its things like a leaky tap or along those lines and Steve would fix it in a jiffy.
absolutely honey. little things he did all the time, without question too, i bet.
yep
funny thing is our 15 yr old g/dtr will not come near my place on birthdays/dads/mums days cos something always happens. One Dads day the smoke alarm kept going off for no reason...little things like that - so he is still around.
i believe that. my friend up in QLD has regular visits from her hubby. dirty handprints which don't fit anyone else in the house etc. stuff moved, doors and windows opening or closing when no breeze.
spooky, but lovely to know they are still with us. Youngest g/son was 2 1/2 mths when He passed (now 4) and sits in G/dads chair and says Grandads chair.
wow !! how amazing. he must remember it.
yes.But the spookiest thing was when the little one starting talking - in his car seat babbling away and all of a sudden said Grandads dead. we thhought he said Grandads there. His Mum said 'yes mate, Grandads there...Nooo Grandads dead. Freaked us big time
g/sons guardian angel
awww he had a special bond with his Grandad. i can see how it would freak you out. young ones rarely understand the concept of death.
which a tile does the an8 come from please?
eldest g/dtr visited her younger brother after he passed and said she didn't like it up there so the angels bought her back down'. She was 4.

thanx ursh
*sigh* and found. so obvious
plural for 9 ?
thanx ursh i found that too. i didn't have the wretched an6 to start with.
I still don't have that wretched an6...
Good morning/evening all!
Bless you Matty *hint hint
Achoo - aaah, that holy oil helped me. Thanks!

Morning Lil Monkey, how are you surviving the heat wave?
I'm doing OK molly, how hot is it there?
Supposed to feel like over 100 today
There is no joy getting in the car after work.
Only supposed to get up to 25C today, but the humidity is sitting at 94%. I can almost grabs a handful of air and wring it out. :(
'morning, all. it's been hot here for a few days now, today's forecast is for 35C/95F with no relief in sight
Good day to my hot friends.
(and anyone who says, 'but it's a dry heat,' gets smacked with an ice pop)
Haha.
But there is a noticeable difference. Hiking in Zion NP at 105F was "tolerable" because it was dry.
doing anything at 105F would be intolerable for me - my body has never been able to negotiate the heat well
I drank 132 oz of water in 6 hrs and didn't pee until 6 hrs went by. I will never forget that. The heat sucks water from the body.
Are you soaking in the lake?
nope - maybe a short bike ride before it gets too hot and then retreat inside. even the birds have slowed down on their seed eating
You have AC?
thankfully, yes
I work in a Rehab, and most of my residents/ patients are geriatric. They all want me to turn on the heat in their rooms. They hate AC.
Be careful out there.
I'm leaving for work now! Wish me luck and cool vibes :)
be cool :)
thank u welki, i will try
By FT.

HI. Any clues for the 9s? Ty
I have nothing bigger than a 6 and must leave for work now.
found the name of a publication, probably long gone, that i used to read occasionally. might have been considered alternative press
maybe you come back later, scrabs - have a calm day (if there is such a thing for you at work)
I am finding this grid difficult.
me too!
Do8, do8, do9.....all have to do with power and authority
ty
I have the do 8, but can;t figure out the 9
It's where kings reign
ty Bea
Plural of second do8

what do you call a cow that works in Hollywood? a movine
*does the snoopy slink away*
*wishes doc would add a way to delete a chat message*
It was funny.
:) thanks bea
good morning - very repetitive grid so far
morning nan! up early?
found an io8, bit odd
yes. Went to bed early last night it was so hot and the a/c kept cutting out -- think it was overheating.
i couldn't fall asleep early but then i woke up early too, blech
Hoped to open the windows this am, but now we have wildfire smoke so that killed that idea
in7 and 8 combo
i'm calling things as if this is the flip...
found an io 4 - does that count?
lol
and that minaret just won't materialise
Oh, we have pretend flips now?
Fantom flips
that's ok - wasn't here for the flip, so it helps
can anyone tell me the other top E besides the opposite of beginnings?
en5.16
Thanks Bea. I never consider that spelling of the word.
ahh, thanks bea
yw
Tx Bea!
I don't know why this surprises me, but it does. "1 in 10 people who have received one dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccine have missed their second dose."
an8 & 9
hurshy, does your io 8 have anything to do with the disinfectant?
your head with oil
yeah, it appears to be a verb to do with that, cnan
sorry lynxxx, wasn't asking for a clue, my brain for some reason is acting as if this is the flip, i've been calling things
just a silly comment - no problem.
that gave me 3 words, hurshy, i'm not sorry :)
:)
all these great words - ty hurshy

2 days ago we atched a program which talked about si8 & 9 - I have never seen or heard of it before and lo and behold it's here
thanks lynxxx, was able to monkey them!
that would be the Baader-Meinhof phenom, where you hear about X and then you notice it more and more
and still trying to get that si ...
klaxon + mckellen
great clue!
thx hursh!
i did not know that's what those are called!
of course now that i looked up what it means, i have the song "Barbara Manatee" stuck in my head
*Wondering why Hurshy watches Veggie Tales
don't know about mckellan, but I thought a klaxon is a horn
i haven't watched any in a long time, but i do love the silly songs
none of this chat is helping me with the si 8-9 :(
hurshy's clue at 8.04?
a klaxon is a horn yes, used as a warning signal on emergency vehicles and HOW do you not know mckellen
'klaxon' or the si*** lured sailors to their death
mckellan is a celtic surname -- that's all it means to me
ya know, gandalf...
mckellan the actor, the one who was magneto
Nan isn't up on pop culture.
ty -- the alarm did it for me
but he's old and super duper famous
not some young up and coming whippersnapper
don't watch many movies, hurshy
what kind of films does he appear in?
all kinds, really
don't recognize the name, but that's not to say I haven't seen him in a film
he's been knighted, it's Sir Mckellan
His career spans six decades, having performed in genres ranging from Shakespearean and modern theatre to popular fantasy and science fiction. Over his career he has received numerous awards including seven Laurence Olivier Awards, a Tony Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. He has also received nominations for two Academy Awards, five Primetime Emmy Awards, and four BAFTAs. He achieved worldwide fame for his film roles, including the titular King in Richard III (1995), James Whale in Gods and Monsters (1998), Magneto in the X-Men films, and Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.
(from his wikipedia page)
ok - haven't watched any of those films == not into fantasy, sci=fi, or war films
"Widely regarded as one of greatest stage and screen actors both in his native Great Britain and internationally" -IMDB
Goodnight everyone.
hello...may I have stats for the second column i pls
one of my favorite performances of his was a comedic one, Amos Starkadder in Cold Comfort Farm
id5 & 6
^ not many of the new offerings on tv this summer either -- a lot of them show a lot of violence involveing guns -- something I am opposed to and think we could do without on TV. It's no wonder people today think it is OK to shoot someone you are angry with -- TV has normalized it
ty hurshy

anyone have all the 9s? since my arrival, do9, an9, and si9 have been mentioned
I'm kind of with you on that one nan
Morning :)
re9.90
those are the 3 that I have, hurshy
ok thanks bea
ok thanks bea
echo
well, it's not "renizoids"
does the do9 build off the do8?
it builds of the second do8, yes
only have one do8
it's not reinzoid either
because the hebrew scriptures depict God giving Adam do8 over all creatures, fundamentalists today think despoiling the planet we inhabit is A-OK
tear apart + last of a montly circular with a different last letter for the re8.70

don't want to talk about green beans - had a lovely crop coming (strawberries too) and they are all cooking on the vine -- as are the tomatoes
:(
from the sounds of it the cherry, pear and apple crops have all been damaged by the heat as well
I have 4o left...back at break time.
k, finally got the re8, thx bzzn

yes, it is Past time for the world to get off it's butt and find alternatives to fossil fuels --- even the oil barons have to see the effect, even if they don't want to admit it.
can somebody help me out with a little news story that i do not understand? that woman who caused the big Tour de France crash... it said that she had fled on a plane but it made it sound like they did not know her identity. but if they don't know her identity how did they know she fled on a plane?
good question. I hadn't seen the latest on that.
Good morning, all. It's possible they have a facial recognition image of her from the airport.
didn't hear about it -- our news is currently consumed with covid, heatwave and forest fires.
i guess that would make sense
I suspect they'll publically identify her in a few days.
my news is heat wave and florida building collapse
same here hurshy
I think it's past time they hold the fans accountable in the TdF
Talk of the Tour de France always makes me think of dear RubyFoo. She absolutely loved it.
oh yes -- we are getting the seaside updates as well
oh missed a letter stats for corner e pls?
en4/5, en5/16
duh ty hurshy
well i am having zero lucky monkeying any of my last 7 here
aHA got my last i word
the re 8 or 9 whichever it is does it ends in zi4. something to do with limestone or someething?
ends like a periodical with dif. last vowel
no idea
Logic would dictate that if someone got on a plane, they had a ticket and that ticket included their ID information.
Unless she got on a private plane, but I kind of doubt that.
but Judi's explanation works, if they have video of her at the airport but don't know what flight she got on or whatever
periodical = O, good housekeeping, time, nat. geographic, etc
was the sign in french? I don't remember.
yes, it was
stomach thinks it's time for breakfast -- bbl
got them ty
How did she get on a flight without a ticket. And if she has a ticket, wouldn't they be able to trace her with that?
well she would have had a ticket but so would every other person at the airport, and they do not know which one is hers yet
And if they have faical recognition, wouldn't a ticket agent or someone from the flight crew recognize her? She is not untraceable, only hard to trace. They will find her.
yeah
did she cause a chain reaction?
According to French TV RTL, the T de F sign-holder has been taken into custody today.
yeah the thing i read was yesterday so i guess i'm out of date
she caused basically the entire field to crash on the opening stage
oh wow.. i hadn't heard about it
she's like bartman, but with injuries caused
she was holding the sign in the road looking at a tv camera the opposite direction from the riders
Daily Mail reports that she was arrested in Brittany....hello all....
hey pen
ah, j'aime bretagne!
well, my last 6 were not fishy. one was a latin plural, but that's not TOO fishy, and nothing else was fishy at all.
oi 5 clue pls?

hello again
av7?
a fretting avocado in a rough situation av7
ty ru
that is an awesome clue, thx ruru
could also be that the avocado is talking at the tour de france
a fruitful clue all around
Wait, wait, there are talking avocados at the Tour de France? What kind of weed are you'all smoking in British Columbia?
glad you got that clue shirl.. but it's worrisome you think like me a bit :D
*Waits for the fruit vs vegetable conversation to start
we're trying to keep the peas around here these days molly

Who knew that your garden salad was really a fruit salad with all those tomatoes and cucumbers in it?
should have said the avacado was possibly commentating at the tour de france
*Passes the Cheetos to Nan
Nan says: "Muchas Guacamole"
the tape worm is back in all of it's forms

ty for the av7
It's like an all day flip here today with all the clue announcing
No worries Nan, party on
gives us all something to do
There was a time when people liked to participate in chat but still be able to find words on their own. That time is long gone.
i wont argue but i dont agree
Don't agree with what?
people that don't like what is in the chat can always turn it off
That is true Nan, and they often do just that.
one from each bottom a and an i -- any guesses?
Or they can just ignore it! Frequently I am just looking for words and the chat is not my focus until I come up for air or coffee.
there's two standalone i4s off the bottom
how about that, i just monkeyed the te7/8
actually there's one..sorry, the other 4 comes off the 4th column
ar 6/18 please?
found it
sorry - ty for the clues -- was called away for a bit
*!*~*!* thanks for the help :)
last word was io 6/24 -- something else our resident pathologist would have known
hallo :)
just back from the beach
how hot was it harry?
the air was hot, the sand was hot, the water was frigid!
oh sounds like you had a terrible time then huh?lol
a bad day at the beach is better than a good day at the office
so does that mean you are going to have a bad at the office now?
Totally agreed Harry. But the beach when the heat index is 101 is not that fun.
no - I'm off for the summer!
amen!
Harry
didn't feel like 101 at the beach. good breezes
anyway, we got slurpees on the way home. well they got slurpees, I got coffee
a G would be very helpful in this here grid.
Whoa, Cosby's sex assault conviction was overturned
both good choices Harry
wow! he has got a good case against his lawyers if they never brought this up
i thought he had been freed a long time ago
apparently not
first pass done. 65 to go. later all!
thought I was onto something with tandom then remembered the proper spelling
68 left here. not sure I've actually finished a first pass
have been haphazard toady
today too
That looks like a mixture of tandem and tampon and I don't want to contemplate the meaning for that
I have had a friend say she used tandem tampons in so many words
btw, also did not want to contemplate but molly made me. sorry if I broke the chat.
hey hoke
moo!
heading out now but I'm sure I'll BBL for last 68. good luck!

hey TO
it causes dyslexia, i am typing words backwards!
direction is relative
i like the vi6/7 and the id5/6
yes, there's some fun finds in this one
and surprised by abv6/5/6. it's a try everything grid
the vi6/7 is grand
the id5/6 is a bit odd :)
it's not very day one sees that here

tiz true
almost mimosa
ugh i came in and ate a cookie and it's too hot for that. yuck
yes, i saw that; you don't want one unless it
well at least we're not in Portland
is the kind you drink
it's that hot here
oh
well, sorry to hear that
hopefully you have AC
just came back from the food pantry, i was in and out of ac. *ignores the last comment with crossed fingers and a prayer*
walked my miles early this AM, even late at night it's just too humid
yeah, I'm back in a spot with low humidity now, so it gets cool at night
someone donated a whole case of jello shot mix to the pantry. but no vodka
Wow, who donates a case of jello shot mix to a food pantry?
probably a grocery store.it's blue, need red and white
but you would be amazed and sometimes horrified.
I guess you can make non-alcoholic jello with it
seriously, i've done this on a large scale with the city of phila and in the burbs. food drives and individuals donations yield some mystifying and horrifying stuff.
sadly, we had no milk today, hope some comes for tomorrow, my usual day. just felt i needed to get out today, a break from the hear.
heat
Morrison was right, people are strange
hahah it was pretty funny when the men offered boxes of ice cream sandwiches today.
any experienced crock pot users on now? need advice pls.
guess not. time to go experiment with tomorrow's dinner. later, all happy babbling
you can find all kinds of crock pot, instapot tips on line.....I quit cooking a while back :)
I used the air fryer for chicken last night because it was too hot to use the oven. I like it cooked in the oven better, but the air fryer is nice to have for quick cooking. There are certain things I don't like cooked in a crock pot either.
a full 6 out of 19 of the T are worms, huh
46 now. tough going. bbl
Sigh. I can't think of a word that starts with T that has to do with worms, except for tapeworm.
the ship worms. but they're not here. I looked.
Look up tape worm crossword clue
ah yes! ty!
it is tapeworms, just the latin :)
multiple latins in fact
three of them
and then another three with the alternate spelling
thanks mael
you're very welcome :)
It's really AS7 that when I list I find so many easy words that I missed.
i knew both words but did not realize the 5/6 was an alternate spelling. who says this game is just wasting time?

good evening fellow Babblers
well damn did i miss all the fun?
hello, Senor Toast
Oops, Senora Toast, sorry.
hello joy, my pic must be pretty bad because i am senorita not senor
You are recognizably female in your full-size profile, but the miniature version could easily be a chimp
(albeit in a T-shirt, and making a toast)
lol Gillie

I'm in Key West in that pic, one of the happiest weeks of my life
Nice
FW for me! Anyone need clues?
wtg joy!
