I agree w/ you, nan. There is a cult of celebrity, cultivated by the media, and it takes up way too much of everyone's time. We hear more about the private lives of famous people we don't know than about the real problems our world faces. If there were more news stories about people who regret from their deathbeds not get vaccinated instead of stories about rich people getting divorced, I think we'd all be better off.
