Clues are up
thanks, lickety
thank you, Lickety!
missing the lone o and the y, but crashing. See you tomorrow :)
Nan, if you read this later - the y is a hebrew letter (pl)
Why isnt yoyo a word? Dont they know what a yoyo is?
a) it's typically spelled yo-yo, and b) although yoyo is an alternate, the enable dictionary is quirky and fickle!
un7.....clue please
I don't have it, sadly. 79 down and 77 I'm leaving for tomorrow. Good night, and good luck!
ty anyway much-
nvm
Who remembers the Uncola Ads? From the 70s?
justafreep and mich do, evidently
Geoffrey Holder. Tons of movie credits (Annie, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Boomerang) and yet most people remember him as the uncola guy.
Can anyone help me with un 7
Oh, I see that has already been asked
I can't find it either :(
un + male child + first 2 letters of blue toner
Ah, thanks. Not one I'd have tried by chance, methinks!
Fireworks and goodnight. Happy babbling.
Congrats!
ru
oops, typo. FW. Happy Babbling.. poof
rise and shine, babblers!

Hi Bea. Felt up any men's shirts lately? 😊
Only while doing the laundry.
phantom: calypso
Carla will be proud that I tried YOLO.
that's a lot of c words
i finally got why we were talking about eggs, over and easy
Indeed, hursh!!
hello all
Good morning, lindy
Good morning :-)
I'm here for stress relief. Hope you all are well.
I'm sorry you are stressed. Is it the holidays?
Bea, mostly, because my in-laws with whom I don't enjoy visiting will be here. Also because my adult daughter is trying to get packed for her move out of here on Jan 8.
spent hours shopping yesterday, for food and gifts, couldn't find what I wanted for my husband. Ugh. I hate shopping.
Those are two big stressors. Will your daughter be moving far?
bea, she'll be about a 7 hour drive away, from here in mid Michigan to Wisconsin
she'll be living with our other daughter and son in law, so that will be great for all of them
That's a doable drive.
thankfully my inlaws will be staying at a hotel, not at our house, but it's still stressful
I spent yesterday grocery shopping and didn't have a comprehensive list. Need to go back for a few items today.
hopefully we have all we need to last through the 26th. fridge and freezers are full.
I know my daughter is really stressed about the move and new job and all, but also really excited. I'm super happy for her to have this new job!
Oh, if you like me, there will be some last-minute thing to run out for. 😊
probably so. I bet it will be the half & half for my coffee!!
I have not shortening. How ami I going to bake?
My issue is my ankle. Walking and standing is painful.
Time to give Mr. Bea a Honey-Do list
almost maracas - we could dance.
stumped on the un7 - is the rest of it a word?
clued at 4;53
ty Bea and anike
happy solstice all!
good morning everyone
hello!
Good solstice to all. Full moon solstice, extra special.
darkest day of winter, from here on it's more light each day
my chickens will start laying again any day. it's uncanny
I got fresh eggs at the farmer's market this week. She had four dozen.
Yay for more light each day.
it's sad for us that our chickens stop laying right before thanksgiving and restart by the new year... it's baking season!
i heard if you don't wash them, they keep for a long time
That extra light thing actually starts around the 10th. If you look at a sunrise/sunset list, the sun has been setting a minute later each day since the 10th.
or wash them and keep them in the fridge, which is what we do. We generally have enough until mid december, but we had to buy our first couple dozen last week
Who washes eggs?
but it rises earlier still, it's a wash out, Molly
People who have chickens wash thier eggs.
if you get the eggs straight out of the chicken, they have some sort of like film on them
in the US, the eggs at the store have been washed
I just looked it up and it said eggs collected from chickens do not need to be washed.
they are at best muddy and at worst a little poopy when they come in from the coop anyway
our chickens are not very neat about their nesting boxes
Oh well yeah, I would wash those for sure.
most eggs come out pristine only in situations where chickens either don't have access to the outdoors at all or have very small nesting boxes and limited movement
farm chickens are... farmy :)
My daughter found one in the carton that had a feather stuck to it. She thought the chick was coming out.LOL!
lol
first col grey!
we have a rooster now so there might be homegrown chicks in our future
I love that Cicely Tyson line in "Fried Green Tomatoes"... "He'll eat an egg that falls out of a chicken's ass but he won't sit down and eat next to a colored man."
i'm having issues. we had to switch to distance learning for a bit, and i'm in the cafeteria, where the Wellness teacher is also conducting a lesson. and she is talking about muscles and joints, and she's like "what is a joint? what is the purpose of a joint?" and i'm wondering how all the students are refraining from saying, "a pot cigarette" and "to get you high"
no unmuted giggles?
hahaha hurshy
they are more disciplined than i
that goes with the t'is the season to be jolly bit.
You have to be really dense to be a high school teacher saying "What is a joint?" There has to be another way to get that message across.
And why are they making you both teach distance lessons from the cafeteria? Doesn't that get distracting?
well normally multiple tutors work in groups in the cafeteria anyway, so there aren't enough rooms for everyone
hopefully tomorrow we can just do it from home.
anyone want to collaborate a bit?
howdy.
down to 21 here. 8-7-3-3
B PP SS C10 SS R TT U

Did someone say there's a PA7? If so, anyone have a hint?
NM
It's a 6/7 combo if anyone's looking. Kind of an obscure word.
not as obscure as co7 or un7 :D
those words are beyond obscure, especially the UN.
A big scandal among DJ"s/radio stations and record companies about 50 years ago I am referring to the PA6/7 combo
time warp
Happy holidays to fellow lurkers

Nah..... I'm lost in a sea of C's
7 words is a small sea
hello 86 to go
You are so fast, harpjane. I noticed you zipping through the grid last night.
not really, i just have my moments occasionally!
is the un9 related to the 5 ?
no
thanks i meant un7, but I guess you knew that...
and the root word does not stand on it's own
i figured it out but I don't know what it means
harp, you sing in chorale groups, yes?
I play piano and harp for choral groups at church. I'm not much of a singer, I'm afraid!
according to google un7 means unlucky.
it's in scrabble word definitions.
well. i'm of a different faith, but for years I've listened to John Rutter's Cambridge Singers - similar to the choir of kings college cambridge - because it's just so beautiful.
wondering if your group ever uses Rutter arrangements
I like Rutter. I've done some in the past. I'm semi retired now.
I like Rutter. I've done some in the past. I'm semi retired now.
glorious arrangements..
I like them. He really knows the human voice!
i love how he intricately weaves together the boys' and men's voices. would love to hear it in transcription for other choirs.
7 to go
even with my interrupting. among the babble anointed you are.
I list early, my dirty secret
Have you heard Tomorrow Will Be My Dancing Day? It's a suite for womens chorus and harp. It's a difficult harp part but it's wonderful!
lots of really strange words in today's grid
thanks for the clue from Annika and the trail of crumbs through the chat, I have firewords!
anyone nees clues?
finished but have posted a Christmas Story in my profile for everyone :D
morning all
never understood why YOYO is not a word???
Nan, I copy/pasted your The Covid Night before Christmas on Facebook - it was a hit!
this is a new one to me, but don't know how old it is
Except I replaced "CERB" with "the dole" so my American friends wouldn't stumble on it :)
makes sense - acronyms are so regionally specific
hope you will get a chuckle out of this one too -- off til the flip
It was cute (though a bit cheeky, so to speak). See you later, Nan
Hey Ishult, didn't mean to ignore you :) yo-yo is hyphenated in its most common spelling
good to know, but shame
