No clues???
Hent
I know, dreadfully quiet in here tonight. :\
hello all - bit of a stinker this grid !
hi all
another be7.
on7
4 be7 in all and one has the 8
just typed in spiders' homes like I was making up a word and then was surprised it took.
ty, I completely missed that one
:D who knew it was a real word? haha
:)
the be words are giving me grief. Can't get past the plural of the ice thingy.
I kinda skipped the B and am going back to it. only saw 4 off the bat.
grumble grumble.. website IS a word!
well it is now, aloy. but apparently wasn't in 2000.
It amazes me that people who have been playing for almost 20 years don't know the limits of Enable
it's easy to forget how "new" the technology words are and how much things have changed since then.
worth a grumble.. (-: gtg, Happy Babbling!
bye aloy!
ciao, hokie!
Ciao hokie sounds like something on a Chinese food menu
HOET and 50 left
well I found one be7. still 5 b's left. 27 total. 5-8-7-6-1 going to get my hair done (or did)
That's funny, Molly :D
Chow hokie sounds like chicken, okra, and rice
and mustard greens
Ew, slimy okra
I second that
it'd be crispy okra you guys
salutations
hi bea
morning
had to look up a few b's.. never would have found them otherwise.
beautiful
I was just working on the B, have 6 left
4 b's left here
Diving in
Not Woot
having a bit of dyslexia today
this is the toughest grid I have seen in a long time.
hello all
glorious day here. will go up to 50 degrees. and the sun is out
Okra is gross any way
I love it
you have to get the slime out of it
I eat lots of vegetables but not okra or brussel sprouts
how do you cook it Bea?
stuck with 62 left
58 left bbl
greetings all
i didn't know you COULD get the slime out of okra
then again i've never tried to cook with it myself at all
acid helps cut the slime
just tasted it once in something and avoided it thereafter
is it just me or are the B words kind of difficult
not just you
oh good
i keep wanting to pluralize things that end in R
but the Rs aren't next to the Ss
4th row grey!
phantom: misfit
well three Vs are no problem and then i'm totally stuck on what else there can be there
do you have vi4.11
no
thanks!!!!
that will get you the other 3
ok now i'm doing well on everything but the B!
ooh found a be7
ok flip chat says four be7 and one has the 8
so i have 3 and i think i'm missing the one that has the 8!
be7.44 and 8.60
clue?
build off the big ice fromation
its an armchair
ahh thanks
10 left for later! ttfn and thanks again!
namaste
any ideas for the Mi7?
mi7...negative prefix + looks like you ____ three inches this summer
ty molly, an odd one, not used in my vocab :)
that is a weird one with that negative prefix
down to last word, desparate for help: we 7/72 ... any clues available?
Ends in fish bait
thank you, Molly...
woot, i love it when i come back to clues for words i need
just read back to all the discussion of okra. Has anyone ever fried it? Slice and dip in cornmeal, then fry till crispy golden and delicious. Absolutely no slime
Sounds great, Dornes ……does one dip it in ranch sauce or yum yum sauce?
Sorry I typed Dorens but automatic correct changed it.
I just eat them plain but you could certainly dip in anything you like. Ranch does sound good
No dips for yummy fried okra. I serve as a side to my meals. There is never any leftovers!!
I make them in the summer when I can get fresh okra at the local farms. Never did think of sauce.
I want to like okra. It is such an attractive veggie to grow.
Well try it fried sometime, ori. You have plenty of nice farm markets there, I'm sure you can find some.
So easy to harvest and freeze for winter. Just cut off of plant and put in brown paper bag and put in freezer. Do not wash or cut before freezing. Yum yum. Love me some fried okra!!(â—'â—¡'â—)
OOOH, I never knew you could freeze it, thanks for the tip
You are welcome Dorens. Thanks for bringing up fried okra. Just went and pulled some from the freezer to fry for dinner tonight!!²B-)
:) I wish I could do the same!
wish I could share wiith you.
heya folks
Hi jes. I'm a lurker
i'll pretend you're well hidden in shadow and not disturb you then ;)
NBT, half way done, back to work. have fun!
hello if anyone is still here
how did okra first come up today, anyway? how did we get this okra-fest?
hiya nan
hi hurshy
I said Ciao hokie sounded like something on a Chinese food menu. Then Ru said it sounded like a dish containing okra, and off we went.
Okra is slimy and gross and you can stick the stems to your forehead. 😮
have seen pictures of okra, but have never seen it or eaten it. I don't care for cooked spinach because of the slimeness (been playing this game too long) so don't imagine okra would appeal to me either.
well, I love fried okra. don't care for cooked without breading.
kale holds up way better than spinach, both in the fridge and in soup and stuff. i always use kale now.
I prefer the taste of spinach over kale
i find them pretty equally bland
anybody done with O words? missing one top one
okra was likely smuggled to America by African women braiding seeds in their hair before being taken as slaves. It was mainly used as a soup thickener originally (gumbo was actually originally a synonym)
I need 2 up top
interesting
idk if "smuggled" is the right word there - that implies you're being sneaky and someone specifically wants to keep that item out...
That message was brought to you by Dan's house of useless information.
it's not useless, it's interesting
I have 2-5-6-5-1 left OO GGG BBBBB W N SS TT HH R
2-4-2 here
it's not a house, it's more like a sprawling compound
oh but that means you're done with top Rs, hokie? i need one from the left one there
Depends on your definition of interesting.
they probably weren't allowed to pack a bag, hurshy. I would say smuggled is fine for soemthing stuck in your hair.
everything else was taken from them, so I'd still go with smuggled, but hidden if you like
something doesn't have to be useful to be interesting
yes, I will look for your R
do you have the re5 that is similar to philbin?
Oh Dan, that statement explains so much
nope, that was the one! thanks
so when captured they said wait, i have to do one thing before i go"
yeah, I was wondering about that too, TO. maybe they stored the seeds in there for later.
Hey, it's better than the way some drugs are smuggled
hokie, the first W is a 5 - they make grills. and there is a we7. all the rest are 4s.
or each fall they said let me put seeds in my hair just to keep them in case i need them?
my home town is we5 city
I don't have the w7
you never know when those slave traders might come along.
for N perhaps you missed ne6/30... or 4/6
sadly I think that was true
well i guess you could say we7 is an internet crawler
Now imagining women with okra sprouts in their braids
really.
hmm, we already established no website
CRAWLER
creeper
wriggler
oh, that's weird
yes
thx
I have both those n's unless there are 2 of one
found it
it's time to go. would you believe i raked a whole bag of leaves and branches the grey devils broke off the neighbor's arborvitae? a whole leaf bag full.
it was a 4/8
what was it
what are grey devils?
what's a gray devil, a squirrel?
and what's an arborvitae? guess I will google.
my neighbor does not rake, so i end up with hers as well as mine - kils the grass along the fence line
yes
yes. there are red devils and in MD i saw a black one.
hmm, I think we have those next to the street but I thought they were something else
but we never have to rake them, they're evergreens
the devils break the branches for their nests.
ah, found a G
Done - see you tomorrow :)
the leaves are from last year, the tree was cut before fall but neightbor lets them lie.
bye nan
and shit rolls downhill
i saw quite a few black squirrels in CA when i lived there
those are the ones genetically engineered by the cia
there are white squirrels not too far from us in Brevard, NC
those are the ones they engineered to neutralize the black ones.
STROB
it's sort of funny that there's sorbet and sherbet but not serbet
oooh got the S!
we 7/72, pls
internet crawler
ty hurshy
Is it just me, or is anyone else discovering "new" word being used in Babble that have never been used before? For the past several days, there have been words that I have never seen in Babble or any other word games I play. They seem to be "madeup" and when I have gone to Morewords for help, they are not there.
the only new one is spam as far as I know. there are a lot of made up looking words with no definitions on the word list, but it hasn't been updated since like 2000. I don't use morewords so I can't speak to that.
got my T!
got my R!
Bent
Brent
ttrrific
got my B!
ok so the missing O is a 5
I have one O5 but it's a normal word
same
add to the last ow4
thanks jess
been so frustrated it wouldn't take the plural... sigh
yw
I've been trying to add to it all day
the word means ox, how do you plural that?
don't know how many times I've typed that word here, but the first time I looked it up. :)
maybe the ox thing will help me remember it for next time
LOL, I had never looked it up either
found an H!
speaking of plurals
or I guess in this case it's a verb so a different tense
clue for mi 7 please
n
I think I mi7. I'm too short.
TY carla but what a stupid word. never heard it before
I am inclined to agree with you. I was just trying everything and it stuck
no definition so proabable made up word.
Enable is full of made uo words. And yet people obsess over this game. Go figure.
then why do exactly do you play it?
hi all... stats for the 8 please?
this game is fun, challenging, nutty, frustrating, and FUN. And the regulars who've been playing forever are a lovely group. Dr God is a genius, and LicketySplitAUS deserves sainthood. In my humble opinion.
Sorry nrkii, I don't have it yet
I totally agree with you mich.
I agree with mich AND Molly -- not mutually exclusive ideas :)
It's just about my 18th anniversary of playing this game... mind babbling
my start date was April 15, 2006, so me, too, nrkii. Although I took some breaks over the years.
I started right about the same time, after Starbuck and the New York TImes ran a contest, and I found a babbler through a blog post about the contest. One of our Dougs. I thought I should check out this babble thing he kept mentioning.
HEY NRK
Hey TO!
what do you think about that dance at the american legion? I am going!
I'm not sure. I am supposed to be up in MA that weekend.
great band. i was supposed to be dancing tonight but i forgot and spent an hour raking. not up for the drive
i will have to wait for next friday mardi gras
I'm completely stalled on this grid with 8 to go
well yell if you want help i am about to settle in and watch barbie
Just looking for first 2 letters of the 8
i hit a wall with about 20 left. it just crumbled eventually
let's see...
be. last word for me.
okay, it's a be7 be8 combo
I had suspected that -- it's the only tile I have 2 words left to get on
after the hunks of ice
or the hunk of ice, to be precise
that did it for me
thanks
I had tried that without the final vowel
it took me a while.
but now i can clue it too bad i am leaving
nrk, i have been gawking over my friend's iceland travelog. it's even worth the cold. amazing
stupefyingly beautiful
2 to go!
N and O 6 and 7
found the O7
ugh, I should have found the ne6 ages ago
Fw... good night!
Any clues for the Be 7/8? Ty
mkg. large piece of ice in the sea, + it's neither h*** or th***. then plural
Got them granny. Ty. Perfect for the end of the night. Ty
