12:24 am

Hi all!

12:24 am

12:27 am

Hoping to get half-way before bed.

12:28 am

12:28 am

missing some e's for NBT but made it to half at least.

12:29 am

good job

12:33 am

nbt, nbs, so 8 and al 9

12:35 am

wow, great Rainqui!

12:36 am

Thank you ~ I was sitting on the 9 for a while but it took forever to get the 8

12:36 am

Still looking for the 9.

12:37 am

aah! got it!

12:54 am

Finally: NBT/NBS! Those e's were challenging. But I got 'em now. Sweet dreams all.

12:57 am

night Roses

1:10 am

fireflies and poofing

3:07 am

staring at the grid with one eye shut (as one does) and amazed myself by knowing that mo6/24 was actually a word! The trivia my brain can hold onto, when some days I can't even recall my doctor's name without a fair amount of thought!

4:32 am

4:42 am

ok monkeyed it. ty

6:37 am

6:41 am

6:42 am

It's a liquor similar to Tequila

6:54 am

good morning. help with either 8 please

6:56 am

7:00 am

7:05 am

morning, all! can someone clue me the re8, please?

7:09 am

nevermind, i just monkeyed it out.

7:16 am

I'm surprised everyone is having to guess at that re8. I guess not many here eat southern US food.

7:17 am

nope, molly, and i live in the south! lol!

7:20 am

I have a bottle of that stuff in my place at all times. Wouldn't eat hush puppies without it.

7:26 am

Hush Puppies is a shoe brand here in India :)

7:29 am

It is a shoe brand here too. Named after a southern fried food.

7:45 am

Greetings

8:01 am

I dont have either 8 so would love help. Dont know what a piquant sauce is. And dont know southern food.

8:08 am

I have seen piquant sauce listed on a menu but dont remember what it is.

8:12 am

Who said it was piquant sauce?

8:13 am

See below molly. I just got that re 8.

8:13 am

The re word is spelled wrong. Needs a u in it.

8:15 am

The spelling here is a variant spelling. And no one said anything about piquant sauce.

8:18 am

Peri @ 7:00

8:23 am

hmm, that 2nd row i looks hard

8:24 am

Any clues for the al 9?

8:24 am

Sorry, I came in after Peri's comment. Piquant and re8 are two different things.

8:25 am

Nm got the 9.

8:25 am

piquant is an adjective 1 having a pleasantly sharp taste or appetizing flavour. 2 pleasantly stimulating or exciting to the mind.

8:26 am

so re8 could very well be piquant

8:26 am

in spanish, picante is spicy

8:26 am

with a little bit of magic, you will find the al9: it is a plural

8:26 am

so if one remembers, there were ads for Pace Picante sauce back in the day

8:26 am

In cooking, piquant sauces are usually tomato based

8:36 am

Merriam Webster: The meaning of PIQUANT SAUCE is a sauce with a sharp flavor (as from lemon juice, vinegar, capers, spices) - you learn something every day!

8:38 am

and vi7 feels like its the start of a piquant soup :)

8:39 am

lol....just found that word...hello all....

8:41 am

hi pen!

8:41 am

8:51 am

good boy!

8:52 am

very nice, crossy!

8:53 am

Just wish they were not so savage with the shaving. The surgical site is about four inches in kength, but they pretty much shaved his whole back quarter!

8:54 am

well i am sure they do that as a precaution...don't want an infection!

8:54 am

Length*

8:55 am

You are right. He is on antibiotics, gavapentin, another pain med, and an oral liquite to fight swelling.

8:56 am

His name is Sebastian, and he is seven years old.

8:59 am

9:00 am

His sister is Rhyleigh Rose.

9:00 am

that name clearly has a story with it?

9:01 am

My beloved just loved the name and the spelling of it.

9:01 am

fair enough :D

9:01 am

She was also born on Feb 14th.

9:02 am

She is five years old

9:02 am

chocolate too?

9:03 am

We do not anticipate this issue with her as she is a full thirty pounds lighter and a full head shorter than her brother--yes, she is aso a chocolat.

9:04 am

Born two years apart--same mum, but different da.

9:05 am

gorgeous :)

9:05 am

Well, as they say, we do not deserve dogs. :)

Any clues for el 6? Ty

10:01 am

take the 4 letter word for an inspiration and change the first letter, then tack it on to the el

10:07 am

is the so8 a compound?

10:10 am

don't know

10:12 am

I found it. It appears to be a compound, but not one I ever saw before. To me it is two unrelated words

10:12 am

yes, it a compound

10:12 am

oh joy!

10:12 am

huh. yes. weird

10:13 am

(obsolete or dialect) Some part; a portion, something; some

10:15 am

the re8 is similarly obscure, an alternate spelling for a creole type sauce.

10:23 am

Yeah at first that song wasn’t going to be Lady Marmalade

10:30 am

Ru, you cook. Are re8 and sauce piquant the same thing?

10:31 am

No. They aren’t

10:31 am

you can get hazchem in this grid!! not allowed of course

10:31 am

Thank you

10:32 am

it amused me

10:33 am

Remolade has mayonnaise in it. Piquant does not

10:34 am

Cajun piquant is similar but is vinegar based

10:38 am

oh these annoying american spellings

10:38 am

Well, I knew that but there was a bit of a "discussion" here claiming they were the same

10:38 am

Most piquant sauces are tomato based

10:39 am

most sauces in general are :)

10:40 am

There are several sauces that don't include tomato at all

10:40 am

hence the use of "most" not "all"

10:41 am

which you back up by use of "several" ;)

10:46 am

Found the cajun sauce. Ty, swmbo. :)

anyone want any cluuuues that don't involve piquancy?

lol @ ata @ 10:58

11:33 am

for lunch today i decided to have tuna melts with CAMEMBERT!

11:34 am

i hope the french would not be too offended

11:35 am

how very dare you

11:35 am

ON (english) muffins

11:36 am

I hope its sustainably caught tuna

11:36 am

hey that's america for you, a tuna-camembert-melting-pot

11:37 am

i will have to check the cans in a minute to see ata

11:38 am

as you can imagine, this lunch is Very Interesting to kittens

11:38 am

it should be, but trump probably decided that ALL THE TUNA can be caught

11:39 am

tuna and cheese what could be better for kitties

11:39 am

idk, he's more focused on humans and fossil fuels and crypto than on tuna

11:40 am

though he opened up an enormous marine protected area to fishing, that'll be a lot of tuna

11:41 am

the one by hawaii? i think a court has blocked that for now

11:41 am

oh really> thank goodness for that

11:41 am

ok it says MSC certified sustainable

11:42 am

dolphin safe

11:42 am

perfect. well done :)

11:43 am

do you have both 2nd row i words? i have is6 but not the other

11:44 am

same first 3 letters

11:44 am

well i kinda thought that

11:44 am

the same amount of a metal

11:44 am

NO idea what it means

11:44 am

ok thanks

11:45 am

apparent it is a noun that refers to a curved line on a ballistic graph for hitting a moving target

11:45 am

ha, kust looked up the same :)

11:45 am

who knew

11:45 am

pity, i was thinking it was about the loneliness of kings

11:45 am

isolaze = levels of indolence on a sunday afternoon

11:47 am

I learnt a new word today outwith babble

11:47 am

A soliton is a self-reinforcing, localized wave packet that maintains its shape and speed while propagating, even after interacting with other solitons.

11:48 am

whereas as a solitract is a frog

11:48 am

very true!

11:52 am

did you see my fb reposted post on peter capaldi? it was so good

11:55 am

very nice - i like the description of matt smith as a manic pixie dream boy lol

11:55 am

I know! just perfect. he has elf ears

11:58 am

they did some renovations on a movie theater that i drove by today

11:58 am

and it now says CINEMA DE LUX

11:58 am

and i was like ummmm

11:59 am

oh ... cinema of light?!

11:59 am

did you not watch the latest season? episode "Lux"?

12:04 pm

no! I haven't watched the latest seaon yet :(

12:05 pm

oh, well, when you do, you will understand why i went ummmm

12:05 pm

ok :D

12:06 pm

have you seen the show "Code of Silence"

12:06 pm

I don't think so

12:06 pm

it stars Rose Ayling-Ellis

12:07 pm

who was also in an episode of Who this last season

12:07 pm

she's amazing

12:07 pm

yeah, and this show focusing on her, it's nice, gives you a little more sense of the experience of being a person who is deaf

12:08 pm

she was in our strictly come dancing or similar, I think it gave a lot of people a lot to think about

12:09 pm

oh, well, we had a deaf guy win it here in the US. first he won Top Model, then he won the dance one

12:09 pm

Nyle DiMarco

12:10 pm

i saw that Alex Kingston is going to be on your one too

12:10 pm

apparently so!

12:10 pm

i bet she'll be fun to watch

12:10 pm

I might even have to watch it for her

12:12 pm

this lower C is Clobbering me

12:14 pm

there's some interesting words in there

12:14 pm

crab claw(s), american body cavities etc

12:14 pm

uh...

12:15 pm

:D

12:15 pm

and a wasp

12:16 pm

what i have is the peoples of the two flags you and i have here (and other places), and a guy's name, and ca4, and that's it

12:16 pm

are any of those the ones you said?

12:16 pm

nope

12:16 pm

ok

12:16 pm

and a weird spelling of a small onion

12:17 pm

i always like to make sure i'm not looking for stuff i already have

12:17 pm

ooh now the onion one i understand, thanks, got that!

12:18 pm

ok i did a search and got the lobster claw words

12:18 pm

is that somehow etymologically related to ch5tion therapy?

12:19 pm

nope. that's chemical stuff

12:19 pm

but all same letters?!

12:19 pm

I don't think its related, but it probably is deep down

12:19 pm

DEEP down

12:19 pm

mariana trench deep

12:20 pm

ok, it is

12:20 pm

ok now tell me what the wasp one's stats are

12:20 pm

see, i knew that was too many matching letters to be a coincidence

12:20 pm

ch5tion is the process of using agents to bind to and remove heavy metals or minerals from the body.and derived from the latin for claw

12:20 pm

ch7/44

12:21 pm

go up

12:22 pm

good lord there are 9000 species of wasps in the UK alone

12:22 pm

really?!

12:22 pm

according to buglife.org.uk, yes

12:23 pm

aHA got it

12:23 pm

:D

12:23 pm

its a nice sounding word!

12:24 pm

ok now for this body cavities thing, i can't even remotely think

12:24 pm

they should be spelled co---- and co----- :D

12:25 pm

ok, i didn't know those words but i think i got them

12:25 pm

the US spelling looks hugely weird

12:25 pm

i'm not sciency enough

12:26 pm

you say body cavity and i think "mouth"

12:26 pm

or at best "stigmata"

12:26 pm

now you know

12:26 pm

but will i remember?

12:26 pm

thats a different question

12:27 pm

well that was a lot of weird ones for sure

12:27 pm

well done. definitely the weirdest lot of words

12:28 pm

i still need one more, and one more from the other C, but that's ok

12:28 pm

ch7/44?

12:28 pm

like the study of organic and inorganic compounds and their interactions? have that

12:29 pm

hmmm. ch4/11?

12:29 pm

the french one? have that

12:29 pm

cl5/16? the rest are fairly ok

12:29 pm

well then i guess i am missing fairly ok ones

12:30 pm

still it's better than M where i need four from each

12:31 pm

oh there's an M!

12:31 pm

tequila :D

12:33 pm

the M I didn't know is a a child born to Jewish parents whose relationship is forbidden by Jewish law

12:36 pm

hmmmm

12:38 pm

did you read that horribly depressing article about how genetic testing has now made us aware of how much more incest happens than anyone would have guessed

12:38 pm

no, but I'm quite glad I didn't!

12:38 pm

i mean, i've summed up the depressing part right there, so

12:39 pm

actually reading it isn't MORE depressing than that

12:39 pm

I did read an article about an american family who were the most inbred in the world

12:39 pm

fun times

12:40 pm

do you remember what state they lived in?

12:40 pm

west virginia

12:40 pm

that was my first guess!!

12:41 pm

he Whittakers, who live in the small village of Odd in West Virginia, have a complex history

12:41 pm

wonder how distantly they are related to Jodie

12:42 pm

Some of the family can only communicate through grunts and barks and often flee when outsiders try to speak to them. They can struggle to remember their parents and other relatives and didn't realise until recent years that their issues were due to inbreeding.

12:42 pm

The cycle of inbreeding began with identical twin brothers, Henry and John Whittaker. Their children married each other and had over a dozen children.

12:42 pm

oh dear

12:43 pm

is WV particularly inbred?

12:43 pm

that is the stereotype

12:44 pm

i think just because travel in and out of the appalachians was challenging

12:44 pm

and it's pretty much entirely appalachians

12:44 pm

makes sense!

12:45 pm

huh. i just finished the 7s, but only have one of the two 8s

12:45 pm

I've been watching youtube about sovereign citizens. you lot over there are all mad

12:46 pm

so8

12:46 pm

i saw a funny video yesterday about how fans of raw milk have basically reinvented pasteurization because there was an outbreak of illness from raw milk drinking and they were like "well what if we boiled it just enough to kill bacteria but not enough to destroy the nutrients"

12:47 pm

ohd ear

12:47 pm

the girl telling about it was like "they stupided so hard they accidentally smarted"

12:48 pm

so then she was like, we just need to make a video about the New Thing of "viral microdosing" and make it seem like it is coming from within the anti-vax community

12:48 pm

the world has really gone mad

12:49 pm

do you have the bottom E?

12:49 pm

I have all the words

12:49 pm

el6

12:49 pm

oh good all the words

12:50 pm

ty

12:50 pm

so this so8, weird or normal?

12:50 pm

2 v normal words that do not go together in any normal way

12:51 pm

ha, got it! ty again

12:51 pm

v odd word!

12:52 pm

guess this is an odd grid

12:52 pm

any more clues before I shoot off and make dinner

12:53 pm

no, i'm going to go for a walk soon anyway

12:53 pm

have a nice dinner :)

12:53 pm

have a nice walk!

lol, thanks for that so8 clue. managed to get it.

ooh, found the 9

greetings my buds

howdy gwen

4:05 pm

I found the sauce

if I could find the 2nd row i I'd be happy

celadom -- argh -- lol

phantom chimerism

well duh on the other z

4:16 pm

If you have one, the other follows along

well, I found the liquor. glad I tried it before declaring it a phantom.

4:18 pm

Hi all. Back to get more. Any clues for the second row i welcome. Ty.

4:19 pm

Got. One of the is words. To ty anyway

4:21 pm

is7 ends with an L4

4:21 pm

Ty

got it, TY buds

thanks, nellie

4:21 pm

I'm missing the first ch7... any help on that?

4:22 pm

Got it. Ty nrkii

4:23 pm

I have ch 7 as a fabric also was a type of dress back in the sixties.

4:23 pm

that's the second one

TY mkg, got it

4:24 pm

The first one ends in apple drink

hmm, can only think of chiffon

4:24 pm

style of drress, carrla

4:24 pm

Sorry, the first three of apple drink

type of garment worn under the dress, ch7

4:24 pm

thanks molly, found it

only thing I lknow from the 60s is a poodle skirt

4:25 pm

Yeah, that other ch7 is lingerie to me

4:25 pm

Hokie, if you know Spanish, the word for shirt is similar

4:25 pm

still missing the borrow row E word. All help welcome.

under dress I can only think of crinoline. I am slow today.

4:26 pm

mkg, end it similar to that is7... almost

well, I remember there is a word for shirt and t-shirt that both start with c. oh, just thought of a lingerie type ch word.

4:26 pm

the ch word that is stumping folks is ch7/40, if that helps

ch7 = first four of the science of elements, last three rhymes with frozen water

got the 7/40.

woot

4:29 pm

Please some help with the e word bottom row e. Ty,.

4:29 pm

el 6/21

4:29 pm

e word has mother l*** in middle (as in a gold strike)

got the EL6, tanx

so, the other ch7 ends in part of apple drink. I get that. not working to it though. how many points? obviously from the lower C.

holy cow nbt at last

4:30 pm

I love when I put my monkeys to work for minutes and minutes on a word that turns out to be a past tense of a 4 I already have

been there

4:30 pm

7/44

got it. couldn't look back.

4:31 pm

There are 2 ch7.44.

an d that gave me an a5

4:31 pm

yes, we've been chatting about that first one

ugh, thanks bea

did I find the first or second then?

so confused

4:32 pm

If you have the undergarment, that's the 2nd.

but that's 7/40, bea says there are 2 7/44

still don't have the "apple" ch7

4:32 pm

the second ch 7/44 is one letter different on the ch7/40 undergarment

4:33 pm

the first one runs up the left side

gwen, I could be wrong but it looks like it could relate to what we used to write on blackboards

OMG there is it, tx hokie

needs food, 74 to go, bye for now

4:34 pm

There are 2- 7/44's. They aren't related at all.

so the 2nd one is from the upper C?

4:34 pm

yes

4:34 pm

Yes.

4:34 pm

it's a belief in undershirts

ah, thanks

well that C is done thank goodness

4:36 pm

I swear I typed in that re8 6 times and it didn't work

is it a do over?

4:36 pm

nope

4:36 pm

No. It's a sauce

well that just ruined my joke about you doing it over

4:36 pm

Ok all still stuck on the bottom row E word. All help welcome please.

4:37 pm

variation on a french sauce word

got it, thx

4:37 pm

e + mother L*** + vowel

I did see bea mention a sauce but thought she was talking about another word, which isn't actually a sauce

8-10-13-4 ugh, always the 6s

4:38 pm

I feel like it needs a u in there somewhere

4:38 pm

Yes, the French word has a U in the middle

4:39 pm

down to 2 SI6 and ZE6

4:39 pm

ze6 just jumped out at me

4:40 pm

Like a ze6

you obvi missed me talking about the z6

4:41 pm

I need the si 6 too nrkii

4:41 pm

nrkii ty for el. Weirde word. Never saw that one before.

4:42 pm

It pops up here once in a while but I always forget it myself

4:43 pm

Anyone able to help Champ and I with that SI6?

4:43 pm

it's a hot dry wind in asia...

4:44 pm

um, the part that comes after si is a palindrome

4:44 pm

got it, thank you

4:45 pm

Mr. Google helped with that ...thank you!

4:45 pm

consider switching from google to ecosia :D

4:46 pm

No, don't

4:47 pm

what, do you work for google or something?

4:48 pm

Nice idea, the planting trees and all that but it's not as good of a search engine

LOL, I was wondering the same

never heard of ecosia

4:48 pm

it is just fine for most everyday purposes. once in a while, i find that it's not giving me what i want and i use google.

we tried bing some but it's terrible at searching

4:48 pm

Everyone feel free to try it and see what you think

4:49 pm

Bing sucks. So does Edge

4:50 pm

anyway i'm glad you said that, because that's the point, feel free to try it and see what you think, that is very different from "no don't even consider it"!

well, I have other things I'd rather do than stare at this so I have 34 left for later. or never.

7:45 pm

hello everyone - spent about 15 minutes on this grid this morning and just getting back. No 8's or 9
