hello, all! we have been allotted 15 minutes by k-dawg's dad, and then we have to go.
Good evening everyone - at least the letter arrangement looks a little better in this one -- I guess only time will tell!
I'm not seeing many words in this one
how long b4 we know how many words todat
don't know...I have 14 so far

I do not see how there can be 106 words in this thing
mama how did you get the list already?
yeah, I have only 26 so far
Oh my g-d.......there's a super bad six letter N word. You just never think you're gonna see that in a puzzle. Heck in the last puzzle there was sl*t and c**t. That surprised me
i have 29 already
we've had this discussion before. The words are, in and of themselves, not "bad." It's the way people use them.
I don't have a list....
te7/28
te 7/28
how do you know have the 2 letter list already?
"DarleenMB we've had this discussion before. The words are, in and of themselves, not "bad." It's the way people use them. " Ah. Excellent point. Still, always suprises me. You're not really looking for them, but they just appear.
the word in this puzzle is bad all the way around.
I don't have the 2 letter list - why do you think I do?
well, I don't think anyone sits around arranging the letters ... it's all random.
It'll be posted shortly.
that "you" was plural but you knew the i word was 10 letters
I agree with DaQwyet
how is eveyone doing tonight
"DarleenMB well, I don't think anyone sits around arranging the letters ... it's all random." Oh I know. Hey, I was excited to see a j/4/9 word. Its so rarely appears in a puzzle.
aaaaargh! the kitchen timer just rang. we gotta go.
g2g dad is making me go to bad
goodnight, gracie
ruff as a show of support I will also leave. until tommorrow!
iceboy at 12:05am posted "i10/77" - that's how I knew

Hiya bbnaz!
ag5/18 - a playing marble
mama...and a marble?

too many cocktails from celebrating the first completed puzzle. now i am jinxed to never finish one again. will go to bed and hope that tomorrow will bring clarity.........
good night!
anything other than a marble for the marble one? I googled it with no luck.
It'll happen again, bbnaz, never you fear Have a good night :)

Have to wait til Monday for the coke ones - they are on my computer at work. Can't seem to find them or the dancing bears here at home....
Smeltz, drop the j from the 6/45
the rock star j6
GW - *with tear in eye and chin trembling* thank you...I can rest a peaceful man. I have to cash in my chips now. Until next time!
more time to play today, but only 106 words...I feel shortchanged! morning all, from grey November London :)
zzzzzzzzzzz
*respectful tip of head in Smeltz's direction* Go forth to your well deserved rest, my friend
Morning sherb it may be small, but it's tricky
any help for AN 7/40?
morning GW :) well that's good, because I need something to stretch my brain...going to try without the a2z again today...
Not yet, mm
Well, there's a ton of clues on the log already, sherb hopefully, you can do it I'm at 62 w/o a2z but fading fast...
ah well one could hope :P the a2z is really helpful lol if only i can figure out what all the chunk of REs are :D
an7 = Lack of energy; inactivity.
thanks melissamay :)
You're welcome!
seconded, melissamay
No problem; my 7s are in short supply, may as well share them!
which ones are you missing? I'm only short by 2
Funny, I went to check and as I did I found quite a few. I've got 10 now. I'm missing re7/28 and some other, though I can't seem to find it on my list. I'm also being driven batty by he 6/27, if you've got it.
don't have either one currently, working on the he6 now do you have the ai's?
Just the ai 5/10 -- if you were to open a window, you could be called an ai***.
Ty
my monkeys found the he6/27 - a flight to escape danger :)
Ty sherb -- I could have sworn I typed that earlier, but I guess not
Give those monkeys a kiss from me, sherb!
*kisses monkeys, who blush alarmingly* - they're not used to recognition!
ha, sherb! The little guys have my sincere thanks.
re7 - to i5/10 again
funny how sometimes when you type in a surname, thinking 'it'll never accept this', it does...e5/18 surname of actress Samantha :)
sorry in5/10
getting dopey, the 5/10 meaning to bury
GreyWoulf, that's great -- thanks, I found it with your clue! And sherb, that one was unfamiliar to me so I checked the def, and it turns out Sam's also a moth.
Oh, and I figured out the last 7 I am missing -- it's the gi7. I don't suppose you have it?
well waddya know! I love learning new words I know I'll never use :)
gi7 - alcoholic comparative (this martini is gi7 than that one)
Oh, GreyWoulf, thanks again! What an odd word. It has no dictionary def, either. That does it for my 7s, so if you're missing one (or anything else I hopefully have), please let me know so I can help!
good clue GW! when it come to martinis, the gi7 the better :)
I'll take your word for it, sherb I seem to have inherited my mother's allergy to gin :(
melissamay, I am missing the 2nd ra7
It's a weather comparative. London is ra7 than LA!
Thank you ever so much, now I can go to bed :D
You are very welcome; good night and thanks for all your help!
sweet dreams GW :)
argh i got gi7 long ago but i couldn't find gi4/8!
I would love to stay and finish because I only have 24 to go, but I am dog tired (no pun intended) So Good Night Ladies, hopefully I will get back to finish later (*hugs if you want one*) TTFN
Four more words to go...any clues for An7
Oh wait --- are you sure I answered you correctly? Because the second ra7 is another comparative, this one of the ra 5/14. Oh, good, looks like all's well. And sure, I'll take a hug. Good night!
*hugs GW*
Hi DaQwyetOne, great that you are so close to finishing! The dictionary def for an7 is: lack of energy; inactivity.
Way to go, Daq! melissamay put up an excellent clue especially if you plug it into Google Bye again, (*more hugs*)
thanks melissa! I'm willing to help with clues, if needed
gi 4/8 - it's bigger than a megabite!
welcome DQO - you're way ahead of me... :)
Hi mica -- for gi4/8, think of a whole lotta anything, but especially bytes and watts.
i've only been up since 9...couldn't finish the last puzzle
DaQwyetOne, I'd love a clue for en 6/27, if you don't mind.
en+a measure of weight
en 6/27: A physical alteration thought to occur in living neural tissue in response to stimuli, posited as an explanation for memory.
Ah! Thank you very much.
thanks DQO! I was struggling with the e's...
hey mel, thanks lol dun know why i didnt get the gi4/8 coz i swear i tried it once lol *shrugs* :)
15 more to go! and im totally clueless haha
any clues for: re 6/ 24 re 7/ 28 re 5/ 14 (my last three, yay!!)
Any clues for ai 6/24, please?
re 7/28 - bury something again
ai 6/24. think of a bird that starts with the letter e e****, remove the e and put ai at the beginning
re 6/24 queen re 7/28 bury again re 5 14 set it up -again
cybernan, i'm sorta bad with clues, so i hope the bird one works for you
thanks cmith
No prob, mica -- I've had plenty of words I either thought I entered, or entered when the server hiccuped. Glad I could help! re 6/24 : The capital and largest city of Saskatchewan, Canada. re 7/ 28: re + in 5/10 re 5/14: The period during which a monarch rules.
Thanks, DQ - that was a great clue.
hmm i got that 6/24 already theres another RE 6/24 any clue?
micamonkey: large segment of land
argh no clue
mic, try: An area of the body having natural or arbitrarily assigned boundaries
mic - re****al hospital or re****al library
lol gawd i was so blind cybernan's clue was obvious but helpful *giggle* made me realize DUH large area of land! haha
en 6/21?
re5/14 I have the king clue I have another one that I have no clue as to the definition, but I'm missing the last re5/14, any clues?
never mind - just jumped up ang grabbed me!
cybernan: en6/26 is en+ a measure of weight
morning all! Looks like a modest one.
ga 5/14 (after the gem stone)?
morning sprite :) that's what I thought too...
Uh-oh... that sounds like a warning! Is it a tough one? First word I found was GreyWoulf's G7, but then I found out that one who rules isn't a ruler :(
small but tough, sprite
any clues for the 10 letter word?
DaQwyetOne, if you count cards in Vegas, you r** the game. If you return a second time, you rer** it.
Hi there sprite; I've been limping through this one.
cybernan, 5/14 is after the gem? the gem is 6/24 isnt it?
in5/10 +in5/12 = 10 letter word
yes, and ga 5/12 follows it alphabetically
sorry - I meant ga 5/14
THANK YOU MELISSA, your a lifesaver! My first finished game, thanks to you!!!
I'm thrilled I could help! YAY for you!
well done DQO!!!
WTG, DQO!
cybernan: erm still cant find the word
thnx, i'm willing to help with clues. however, they aren't the best clues...lol
lol im hoping for my first complete puzzle too but seems like no such luck for me
ga 5/14 and he 6/27?
he 6/27: A flight to escape danger
here are all my missing ones *sigh* an 4/ 8 an 6/ 24 en 6/ 18 ga 5/ 14 in 4/ 4 in 5/ 10 ni 5/ 20 re 5/ 14 re 5/ 10 te 5/ 14 te 5/ 10
ga5/14: think of the gem stone, but drop the last two letters, and add a vowel
an4/8: to start again, to start afresh
thanks DQO! finally got that out of the way
N6/30? Babble should be kicked.
Got the ga, DQ - thanks -- the def for he 6/27 doesn't help though
an6/24: a disease of the throat; sore throat
We've been all around that one, Sprite -- sentiment is all the same - worse than yesterday's baddies.
sprite, I completely agree. I wish that words like that would be purged from the dictionary the program uses (along with all the words that are not really words).
Way worse. Yesterday's baddies were fun ;) Well, I won't repeat all the comments then... I am with you all in this.
he6/27 is a wierd word the Muslim calendar begins in this year; a journey by a large group to escape a hostile environment.
all the greek and latin words should be dumped too!
LOL! No, only the N6 ones. I wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to learn about ywis, crms, crwth, hisn and such.
Please, would someone give me a good slap over the head if I try and enter hearing and earring once more?
Greek and Latin have helped give us such a rich language...the more words we have, the better we can express ourselves...
8 more to go and slowly prodding on
I've just 2 more: ni 5/ 20 and te 5/14. Arg.
te 5/10: think about a popular flower pot (two words, but use on the first word)
That leads to a nice T7 too, I see. Thanks!
ni5/20: think of person who does martial arts.
DQ: I got that 5/10 but theres another TE 5/10 which im missing and any clue wtf is an 4/8?!
DaQwyetOne, oh my, that's just sad. How did I miss that?
lol ni 5/20 likes to be masked in black too ;)
DQO - I can't believe I missed that one...my godson loves the Turtles!
I have a an4/8 that is rather novel.
te5/14: this is the only clue i can come up with, so i apologize in advance: The upper or dorsal surface, especially of a body segment of an insect or other arthropod.
an4/8: something that is not old, is ***, just put the a in front
DaQwyetOne, no, that was PERFECT. Now I've finished, thanks to YOU. Thank you so much for being kind enough to stick around and help!
No prob, it's good babble etiquette...lol =)
you guys are awesome i could give all of you kisses :P ok ok 6 more i can do it!!! :D
Well, then I hope no one thinks I'm rude to solve and run, but I have to go look up cameras online -- I promised my husband I'd research our next camera purchase, but I've been Babbling instead! Good night, and thanks again!
nite melissa :)
en 6/18 anybody? *whimpers*
Night, sherb, and best of luck to all who are finishing!
E5/10 + vowel
en6/18: when you walk into a room you ***** it, put an "a" at the end
thanks sprite... argh why didnt i think of it i was trying the wrong vowel O_O"
Nite all -- 7 to go, but can't think anymore!
nite cybernan!
nite cybernan :)
erm anybody know whats the 2nd te 5/10? i got the earth one
Almost an anagram of the other, micamonkey. Leave out one of the double consonants and put in a vowel. Then play around with the letters.
its the earth one, but take away an "r" and add an vowel to the end
Nite, and good luck to all.
still some way to go, and I'm bailing out to get the Sunday necessities...papers, coffee, almond croissant...oh, and to put some clothes on first! Happy Babbling all :)
yay thanks DQ i just got 2 more to go *sweats* in 5/10 (i got the obvious one) re 5/14 (i got the king and set up again)
good morning
All those names! Me Tarzan You... and good old Mick of course.
micamonkey: in + very small particle re5/14: steal a vowel from the queen.
Or, if that is the re you already have, try a verb for what a king does.
thanks! got the RE :D erm but still lost with the 5/10
AHHHHHH!!! got it!!!!!!!!! my first complete babble puzzle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can now die in peace!!! :D
Congrats, micamonkey! And er.... don't die, come back tomorrow please :)
Can I have a clue to Ar 5/12 please?
dalmatian: I don't know a def of the word. Best I can do: start with a form of to be, than add an ending that means "of a certain quality". There is an i5/12 with the same ending.
Perfect clue Sprite. Thank you!
Good Morning all I am struggling today

Enough of this serious stuff. How were your weekends? Did anyone do anything fun and naughty that I should know about?
Morning All - trying to steal a few minutes before my daughter wakes up so I can finish this thing Am I addicted or what?! Miyavi_fan -- how's my newest friend today?
i am surprised to see that n6 word today
*skips merrily into babble land* Hi everyone!
HI deutsch!
Hey Woulf :) I'm good thanks, having a bit of computer trouble (it's in a strop with me). How are you?
good afternoon all....how is everone..although small this looks like it could be a tough little grid today
Hi Grey! Haven't started, CathB, but I think you're right about the grid!
Hi Deutsch and Cath :) How are you both? Deutsch, no more manskirt I hope?
hi Miyavi.Deutsch...i am fine..just finished the ironing so deserve a quick babble shot
Doing well Miy - glad for Babble though, it's my primary social outlet these days Deustch & CathB -- you are right about the grid :) Only 106 but some are tricky
Oh, gee, Miyavi! I had to leave yesterday. Couldn't take the whole manskirt and handyman duo. With luck, ms will stay inside today.
I swear, Manskirt is a reincarnation of my maths teacher. Or his son or something. Both have the ability to make passersby cringe...though my maths teacher in a different but very horrific way
The clues were flying fast and furious earlier, bet 12:30 and 3:00, that's when I logged off -- but scroll back to see them
Miy, I know manskirt's son.And he's not cringe worthy. so I think ms and maths are brothers. LOL
Possibly, whenever Mr F talks about his brother he has an expression like he's holding a dead rat in his mouth. Though Manskirt would have to be pretty old to be his brother...200 would be about right.
Speaking of which, Mr F's favourite saying is "do you think I was born yesterday!?" yelled at a class of indifferent pupils. Not unless yesterday was 200 years ago buddy
Hello...is everyone's chat log going funny, or just mine?
Miyavi, we have a match. manskirt is old. Maybe 200, maybe 400!
Miyavi - mine is ok..what probs are u having
Miy ~ If your computer is really acting strange try turning it completely off for 20 seconds or so to clear out the memory and then reboot.
Gotta go change a really nasty diaper. BBL.
My sympathies, Minski -- woke up to that yesterday
need help, please re 5/ 10 & re 5/ 14 that are together after 1st re 6/18
Hi all - Cathb how goes it? Am babbling - but still in my nightie! Had a very uncomfortable night in single bed with the 2 year old! He thought sleep unnecessary last night so I was relating the 3 Bears @ 1.30am! Then got 2 hours sleep with the hubby before the littlie woke up. Spent the rest of the night in the single bed. Can't move today!
hi snowy..i am ok...i have just finished the dreaded ironing so thought i would spare a quick half hour visit before seeing to the roast..
snowy - that is definitely not a fun night, here sit back relax and Babble (*pulls out chair, presents choice of beverage (non-alcoholic, and give quick back rub(enough to loosen but not knock out) *)
will ring you now snowy
What are you today, greywoulf? I can't quite see it.
OOh thanks Greywoulf - needed all that!
It's a line drawing of a wolf that I found via google
Snowy - I have been blessed with the most cooperative 2 yo I have ever met -- she has been seriously sick since she has been born --- but then the only way she could sleep was lying on my chest while I lay on my back (important note: I CANNOT sleep on my back) She was about 7 months at the time -- those were the longest 2 nights of my life
OOPS - she has NOT been sick
Grey, I needed to refresh. So I see it now. cool! Your 2-year-old sounds like a sweetie!
Gods above and below - why can't I ever get a story straight when I type?
snowy, thanks for the soup recipe. Will try it soon. Like you, I'm a lover of soup!
Hi, ladies and gentlemen. And the rest of you, too....
set the record straight - 2 years old, no illness excpet ONE really bad cold
Hi artlady. Haven't seen you in a while!
Almost there but the re's are driving me crazy! I'm missing re6/24, re5/10 and re5/14 x 2. Here's what I have: re6/24 the queen re5/14 for the king's term re5/14 to set up again When I finish I can go and bake some lemon pound cake.
Now you make sense, greywoulf! LOL
She is Deutsch, which is why I am thankful every day for her presence
What's with all these little puzzles on the weekends, when I actually have some TIME! I wanted a big one for my birthday....
I made sense!?! Now something really must be wrong! :D
hi all, i'm new to this
*grabs artlady by the hands and dances marrily* Happy Birthday, Artlady!
Hi Laneyjane! Join the madness! Grey, LOL
*or merrily*
Hi, Deutsch. I've been out of town a lot and busy doing less exciting things than Babble when I'm home. Should be doing grades right now...
cheers, very dull weather in england today
Hi laneyjane. Welcome to the madhouse.... jk.
WElcome laneyjane!
Sorry all been on the phone with CATHB . The littlie is a sweetie but doesn't stay overnight very often. He needless to say is like a button today!gklad you got the recipe deutsch Am going right now to have some with hubby - late snack lunch today. Will see you all again in 1/2 hour or so
still morning in Maryland and a bit chilly, Laney. Artlady, Good luck with grades. I never liked doing them.
Dull here in Chicago, also.
Hurry back, Snowy!
Anyone up for a latte? I'm going up to make some...
Sunday afternoon, chores done, sunday roast cooked and eaten and the rest of the day is mine!! Time to babble!!! Life is good.
laneyjane -- do you need any help getting started? Do you know about babblers anonymous?
**codsmack** re 5/10 - raced again
whats that?
Yes, please, artlady!
laneyjane - to get breakdown of words for the grid: 1 - under friends of babble - click the babblers anonymous link 2 - once there, click on general topics 3- then click on daily puzzle stats
Fmitch, may I have a little of the roast, please? Haven't had breakfast yet, but roast sounds yummy! And thanks, gnubee!
Thanks gnubee! Now I have the admended king and the racing again, still missing the re6/24 and one re5/14.
LAney - the Stats include a total word count, breakdown the list by starting letter, and then furhter down breaks it down by two letter beginning + total length and point score (ex.- qw 5/36 = starts with qw, has length of 5 letters and score of 36)
Deutsch, there is plenty left over - passes plate laden with roast lamb, and all the trimmings (English style). bon appetite! Who said you cant have that for breakfast, but you may want to pass on the wine?
I may just be brain fried from too much late night Babble, but I just can't seem to locate the 1st in5 or the last in6 -- help please?
Yes, Fmitch, I'll pass on the wine. I have a nice latte from artlady. thanks for the roast lamb!
gmornin all! :-D
Eva there is only 1 x re6/24 and you say you have that one - do you have the re6/18? if you move into an apartment you become the re****.
Hello evandine
Hi evanadine!
Interesting pic, ev! Deutsch, a warning--the latte's half-decaf. I'm wired enuf without extra caf.
Oops, gotta go believe it or not, the baby has just awoken
Good morning everyone!
Bye GreyWoulf, didn't get the chance to say hello!
Later greywoulf hi stillcrazy thanks, artlady
mornin', stillcrazy. How's the weather out there?
Anyone got a clue on the an7/40?
Good to see everyone
an7 - lacking energy
FMitch...lack of energy.
Thanks guys - will go have a look for that.
any hints on the in 10?
Hi EvaN Put 2 words together to get the in10 - in5/10 and io5/12
good clue earlier, was in...io... two 5 letter words
FMitch - I just got on and was looking down at the comments. I have 2 re 6 24
thanks bejay -- got it with your clue. :)
Baby's up, now I have to feed her Hello Fmitch, glad to make your aquaintance Hi stillcrazy I'll be back, I'm down to 16 and want to finish early today It's just that my daughter likes to sleep late while most other parents comlain of the opposite :)
cant find an7 though anymore clues pls
oops, complain (lot of that happening this AM)
Well I finished this sucker. But I've been finishing every day and my ranking is steadily going down. I do better when I don't play :)
fit - that has been my experience too
Hey, fit1, I went through that for a while also. Now it seems to be steadier. Then there was the 10 day period I DIDN'T play and I jumped over 100 spots!
Hi fit, the rankings are a mystery to me.
johnp - aaargh and thanks for that fit1 - well done for finishing, I've still got 40 to go.
an7 sounds a bit like if you are a morning person, you wake up full of en**** - but change the ending
Hi - back form lunch this in10 is driving me mad! I have the in5 and the io5 and put them together it then says the word does not exist in the puzzle!
an - sounds like an al word that you can't be around dogs, cats, mold etc. but change the spelling some and shift the L to an N at the begining
hail all! snowy-- do you have the in5 that means between?
ooh, good clue johnp. anybody want to help me with ai7?
thanks, Johnp! Welcome back, snowy! Hi Joelgee!
Sure, hurshy!
Hi All! Snowyowl - worked for me. i got from your clue! Ch-cheers! <raises glass>
YW *past self of the back
except I can't spell apparently - that is 'pats self on back' then smacks self with cod for poor spelling
no ai7
AHH no joelgee but I do now - TY TY TY. I can only use the v. little sleep excuse. Was counting the in5 and the io5 in the in list!!!!!!! God that looks weird!
good morning, everybody
(laughs at johnp) btw, hello everyone! :)
Hi dachef!
oh, yeah - it's a 6 - it does help to be looking for the right length word, doesn't it? grr.
Hi ruff and hurshy!
snowy-- after last night's great party, I'm surprised you're here at all. You probably don't even remember dancing with me.
Hi snowy. It's been a while since we were in the same group!
good news: there is an ai6 bad news: don't have it yet.
Hi Dachef - glad my stupidity helped someone! V glad to cross that one off the list.
hi deutsch!
thanks hurshy & johnb for clues, work on it later, got that weak feeling, bet go eat first!
joel..a long plume worn on a hat, from a bird of similar sounding name...
Hi Artlady - I had a problem with my computer last week - no internet for 5 days!!!! I read in the log that you've been busy ,so we've probably crossed over somewhere. Hope all is well with you
hursh-- have it now: An ornamental tuft of upright plumes, especially the tail feathers of an eg***. your ai; take away the first letter of the above-mentioned bird and graft your ai on the front.
hi all..backfor another hour...roast in oven and veg cooked,,,,
Doing well. Playing Babble with friends on my birthday morn is a treat! Too bad it's a little puzzle.
The ai6 sounds like a french detective - not agatha christie - Drop the initial letter
Happy Birthday ArtLady - have a great day!
artlady-- 1st--happy happy. 2nd--it may be little, but no plurals, so fewer twofers.
happy birthday artlady
Happy Birthday Artlady! Many Happy Returns!
<starts rousing chorus in beuatiful Welsh tenor> haaapppy Birrrrthday to you, haaaappy Birrthday to yooooooouuuuuu, Haaaappppyy Bithday dear Artlady, etc. etc.
thanks joelgee! i think i had tried every other possibility!!! thanks, snowy, too - don't think i know that one (but, incidentally, agatha christie has no french detective, as he always has to point out - he's belgian)
happy birthday artlady!
You;'re so right hurshy and I love him! *Slaps self soundly*
Dachef, I will join your chorus...!
Happy Birthday to the Art Lady from bf Michigan
okay. I'm going to preach for a sec. While I was typing, power went out for a sec. very windy here today. But my computer kept going because I have a UPS. Everybody who has invested in a computer SHOULD have one. Sooner or later, you'll be glad.
you say it's yer birthday, well happy birthday to ya. dadadada.
(giggles at snowy) joelgee - what's a UPS (other than a package delivery company)?
joelgee - here here. my restaurant got hit by lightning a coupla months ago and everything got fried. I would've lost am entire years worth of financial documents. The taxman would've had a field day!
snowy - who's the one you were talking about, though?
This is what I'm saying. A computer guy told me that besides the obvious possibilities, when the power goes out, your internal power supply whatsis can get fried.
Maigret hurshy - Have I commited a boo boo now?
ups - uninterruptable power supply
think so snowy
Darn! I step out of the room to refill my latte and you all sing so beautifully! Thank you, thank you. This is rather fun!
snowy - dunno - maybe nobody will notice, if so. what author is that?
Uninterrupted Power Supply. Essentially it's a big battery in a bricklike box. Depending on what kind you get, the UPS gives you x amount of time to back out and turn off when power goes. Also, depending on model, you can plug in x amount accessories. It's possibly the unsexiest computer accessory you can get, but possibly the most important.
Apologies then!!!!!! even less bright than usual today - but I am consistent!
OK, so how much does a UPS cost? isn't it good enough to just have a power strip, and then your computer at least won't get hurt?
I agree, Joel. My mother lives in rural Wisconsin and her power's out a lot. She even has one on her VCR's!
Don't worry snowy, I so misread your clue, I was thinking of the Belgian detective, Hercule P!
No no, Snowy. Your brightness is a beacon to us all....as shown in your lovely icon.
Hurshy - Georges Simenon - they are really old stories and in the 60s there was a television series.
snowyowl - your icon - is that Mumbles? Looks kinda familiar....
Thanks, Joelgee. I've written it down. Can I get this at radio shack? baltimore in the summer has brownouts. :(
anyone have the an 7/40 yet? Can't find that one at all.
i'll right that down. i love old stories! in fiction, i mostly don't read any author who didn't die before i was born. except when it comes to children's fiction.
Deutsch, you should be able to get it anywhere that sells computer stuff.
Stilllcrazy...without energy.
No. Most power strips may protect against a surge, but that's maybe. A UPS, around $100 American, depending. Consider that cost against what you have invested in your computer and what you could lose, it really is, in my opinion, one of the best computer investments you can make. The company APC (automatic power conversion, I think) is thought to be the major player in that field. Don't mean to go on, but you're going to have a brownout or a power loss sooner or later. Might as well be ready for it.
any hints on the 1st en 6?
ty artlady!
it is Dachef..snowy and i both l from Mumbles
Tis Dachef .*sings* The home town looks the same as I step down from the train*. Felt like a geographical icon for a change. I can imagine the Mumbles mile as I type! LOL
thanks for the tip. never knew.
Don't know about radio shack. I'd try a best buy or a circuit city first, but that's me. Call around. Check online.
snowy..you been on the bottle again (without me) or is it lack of sleep
Thanks, artlady and Joelgee.
johnp - en + a tiny weight
aaahhh, the mumbles mile. <slips into reverie, opens another beer in fond memory>
hursh-- it's like buying socks or underwear for your computer. Nobody really wants to do it, but there will come a day when you're glad you did.
ROFL
stillcrazy - an + crew machine + adjectival ending
argh - misdirection... thanks FMitch
Snowy, cathb, back to mumbles, again!
its more like half a mile now though dachef as a few of the older establishments are no longer used
oh i WANT to buy socks and underwear. :)
Nobody thanks you for a good set up.
Its lack of sleep Cath! Think the harvey wallbangers left the system during the long night of no sleep!
Ok, Snowy and Welsh company...I had to go check out Mumbles! Such an interesting name, but great scenery.
cathb - sounds about right. When I was younger we only used to make it to halfway anyway!
Deutsch - we are..its a small world
thanks for the good setup, joelgee! now, how about help with ar5/10?
I had my stag night in Mumbles (long ago!), and my so-called friends tied me naked to a lamppost. I think my underwear is still floating around the pier....
Its very beautiful Artlady, but full of pubs and a bit rowdy at night now. The whole of the Gower coast is fantastic - If we could only get the weather there'd be no need to travel. Deutsch I have finally got old enough to be nostalgic about home!
Now there's a mental picture....
hursh-- A sharp, narrow mountain ridge or spur. I think it's also a variation of the French word for "Stop!"
Dachef - that sounds about par for the course...there are now several stag/hen parties though every saturday and it can spoil it now as they start in the morning !!
thanks, joelgee - was so sure i had tried that! grr again.
Mumbles sounds like an interesting place. sort of like our Fells Point here.
en6 - en +earth
*perks up* are you from the baltimore area deutsch??
Why yes, Evanadine! butcher's hill, actually
spent a few evenings in fells point myself -- i used to have a friend who lived in the Chesapeake in the inner harbor...
eg WOULD have to be right in the middle. can someone tell me whether it is a word i may have heard of, and if not, lend me a clue?
I'm two neighborhoods up from Fell's point. We spent a bit of yesterday afternoon in fell's point watching the tourists!
okay. 29 left to go, but going to go see "Good night, and good luck" now. Back later. Don't use up all the good clues.
nevermind, nevermind - analyzing the points helped me get it!

any help on the ai 6/24 an 7/40
artlady - ci7/40 ????
ci 7/40 a fag?
Dachef - a slightly different spelling of something you would smoke
ci 7/40 another thing you smoke, alt spelling
small ci5/16
roncook an has to do with the heart
roncook - in the US, we don't use that to mean that anymore - it's a homosexual, now.
greek sandwich...got the word, but wondering about the clue... afternoon all :) 36 words left to find...
ai 6/24 plume you wear in a hat, sounds like a bird name that's spelled differently...
an 7/40 without energy

One mackerel, coming up....catch!
afternoon sherb
Lol hurshy - knew someone who went to the States on holiday and asked for a packet of fags! She said it produced some funny looks!
It's a VERY well-used fish at this end...sigh.
Funny how the same language means so many different things!
thanks artlady - I shall severely chastise myself. Although not too much cos last time I went blind.
Thanks for the ar, GW... Snowy - I have the flower pot and the phone -- it's the ra 4/6 (first ra word) and the te 5/10 that come before
snowy - well, you can see why it would! :) luckily, i read the british lit, so i can translate. :)
Please, anyone have clues for the ai 6/24?
ai 6/24 - if you're sorry you've done something, you re**** it - now change the first 2 letters
ra 4/6 East Indian cereal grass, or (improperly) the plural of fierce anger... ;-)
Hi Sherb - the great escape and the greek sandwich did nothing for me -- can you come up with a different clue?
any clues for en 6/18
Sorry folks, lost connection for a sec
cybernan - he6 ends with the Irish Republican Army!
joy, add a vowel onto the end of the en 5/10...

....but it might also repel
thanks, cybernan, and pass the fish!
Minski, here's a rhymer if it helps - when I'm around cats I sneeze and itch because I'm....
ag 5/18 texas a&m mascot ag 5/18 the legend of ba**** vance, minus first letter
Hi there. Ma7/40 is an extension of ma5/16... more ma5/16.
ma7 - to be more scruffy in appearance, usu in reference to mutts
The 2nd AG 5/18 starts with the same 3 letters and ends differently. Could be a woman's nickname.
why am i giving american clues to other people? how thoughtless of me...
GW, I resemble that remark
EEK! Who changed my avatar? I'll kill my other half! LOL.
gosh, i am SO stupid today. thanks, guys.
Thanks Griffums. THat was a great hint and I got it right away.
yw!
Well so do I Griff! ;D
thanks all for clues
I priase you with the smoked salmon of solving, thank you!
Texas A&M mascot - is there an English translation of that, please?
Hurshy -- sorry, but I'm still using it -- you'll have to go to the market and get your own!
got the ag word now tyvm
the first ag 5/18 is also a kind of marble, but i don't know if that term penetrates beyond the states either.
sherb - how about a derivative of margaret, minus the first letter?
doh, i meant the SECOND ag5/18.
Hi Jacula! Ok one m left to get - the last 6/21
ma 6/21 - a whale is a ma**** animal
GW - semper fi
Sherb, Texas A&M stands for Texas Agricultural and Mechanical. The mascot is a slur of the first part
poos's mom - got that one, thanks...so in that case, who ba**** vance?
ma6/21 - relating to the sea.
Sherb - think Macbeth - is this a da***r I see before me and then drop the d.
Pass the fish... (*smack*)
pun not intended
gwen - been dying to ask this for ages - why is your handbag green? What does that signify?
greywoulf - that is, obviously, as fishy as you can get! :)
ok, thanks all ...found Mr Vance...
I'm special. LOL, lol, lol
Feeling particularly dense -- last 3: re 5/14 (following set up again) te 5/10 and 5/14 (following to rip)

Hi all .....just seen news of yet another tornado in America. you are certainly getting more than your fair share this year.... hope all our babble friends are safe and well... finished for the day g'night all
fab clues all - have just been reading the log and watching my word count go up!
Yea, but it was just a 'fluke', Jac
re5/14 - what you might have to do to a sailing ship.
How was the Guy's celebration last night?
we need a sturgeon to remove all these tiresome fish jokes. You lot need to roe up.
Hi Mu, Naked Chef (yes, I've read the log!) and anyone else I haven't greeted yet.
sorry -I've just gone green too, those darn fish again. LOL
Thank uuuuuuu, Jacula - great clue -- two to go!
Gwen, of course you are babe! There was a discussion here the other night about it - went something along the lines of blue+male, pink=female, green=hermaphrodite/martian (delete as appropriate)!!
last night was awesome! I had dinner with friends who live on a hill on the outskirts of London, and we went up to the attic and watched the fireworks...amazing!
stop carping, dachef. if you don't like it, you can take a hake.
Just a 'minnow'! Why do we 'kipper' filling the log with fish? I 'trout' the clue-hunters will like it. LOL.
All this fish talk is giving me a haddock.
Sherb - not Primrose Hill by any chance?
Whale!.. if your going to be that way about it...
I hate Bonfire Night as do all restauranteurs. One of the only Sat nights in the year when nobody goes to a restaurant!!!
hurshy - tanks. (fishtanks? Get it? No? oh well...)
FMitch - close, Highgate Hill...we could see the whole city and it was just one long firework display...incredible!
fishy joke of the day: two goldfish in a tank. one says: "so, how do you drive this thing then?"

Just found the eg!
LeslieAnn and Sherb. My heroes. Now just the te 5/14. Lucky, an 7/40 rhymes with what happens when you get a good dose of pollen, but lose the ll's, subst n. As for ja 7/53, (ja 7/64) imagine even more LIPS.

Slaap lekker Karma, tot de volgende keer maar weer!
and maybe i know "sabot" - or is that a french word?
Lucky, is that a French flag?
it looks french.
Lucky, I have cousins and aunts and uncles in Amsterdam but I have lost touch. Is there an on line tel. directory that you might know of?
Sabbat is the jewish word for Saturday Hurshy
Chic Yes try telefoongids nederland
clue for te5/14 plz
mprotz no it is not a french but a dutch flag, the french is red, white and blue on its side
Sabot certainly is a French word and how pertinent to happenings of the last few days. How is your neighborhood, Lucky?
tu, lucky. It was fun trying to read your dutch with karma. Its been a very long time for me.
yeah, i know about sabbat, but i meant sabot the wooden shoe. (workers threw them into the machines that threatened their livelihood - hence the term "sabotage")
That's what I get for putting my head down for a quick rest. re + consonant + abbreviation for my home state, Georgia
Hey ya'll it's Sunday afternoon in Michgan. It is rainy, windy and cold. What a nice afternoon to join in with the babble bunch.
Oops, make that: te + consonant + said abbreviation
Ty mprotz did not know. I live in a small village just half an hour drive from Amsterdam with woods, beach and heither (is that the correct word? for the purple plant?) just outside my door. Just perfect!
oh i see my mistake - luxembourg's flag is almost identical but the blue is lighter.
ty mprotz
lucky, that does sound nice - you're lucky! ha ha. it's heather, not heither.
YW, O'chita. Are you close to done?
The Dutch word for sabot then is KLOMP Hurshy. Nowadays only the real farmers wear them at work.
klomp makes a lot of sense for that shoe - we must have gotten that from you then, when we use it as the loud noise someone makes with their shoes.
Hurshy my American cheeks are blushing with shame of not remembering
btw, welcome faeriekae!
the shame of not remembering...what?
You forgot, too, Hursh?
i forgot...what? my head is spinning.
Haether instead of heither Hurshy
hi. just got back. Anybody from Indiana or Kentucky? Heard tornadoes passed through those states.
mprotz taking verbal advantage of me. :)
hursh-- well, you take advantage right back.
mprotz ahead of us anyways ........
Hi Joelgee, thanks for the news. My mom is in southern Indy with the rest of the relatives in KY. Are you okay?
And you've been so completely verbal, Hurshy
so, you were american and then moved over there, lucky?
Hi joelgee... how is life today?
Baggo is in Indianapolis Haven't heard from her today.
Yeah. In Michigan. All we have are high winds. Mostly, I was thinking of Smeltzdog. I think he's in Indiana.
mprotz - are you saying i talk too much? (i do). :) like joelgee's icon today. pretty.
Hurshy I am still an American citizen with passport and all but moved to Holland already 40 years ago when my parents divorced and my dad stayed in the States. So my idiom is not up to par anymore
well, probably most americans don't know about heather anyway. it mostly grows in england. anne of green gables (in book 3) states that it only grows 2 places in north america.
We've had global increasingly bad weather all year. That might be the one thing HRH and I agree upon. No, Hursh, like the little bear, just enough.
Hurshy where are you living now?
connecticut.
Great have been there often
lucky-- before I get my last 29 and just in case you're leaving soon, I wanted to say I have a Netherlands connection. Believe it or not, right now (well, not RIGHT now), I live in MI, work for a client in WI, writing and editing training materials for software that comes from the Netherlands.
may i please put out this last plea for help..i seem to have tried all combinations but as usual the obvious eludes me..last 6 to finish na4/4 ni5/20 re6/24 (the 1st one) re7/28 re6/18 te4/4 i would be grateful for any help to put me out of my misery

cAth: no 4/4: black ni 5/20 - think fighting Turtle
Joelgee the world is small I have been working for Digital Equipement for 15 years before it collapsed. So I know a bit about software. Which company does it come from?

hurshy, nice for someone to acknowledge me. I've come in on some of you guys chats in the past and no one would say hello or acknowledge me in any way. Thank you your a faeire nice person.
mistype it was the te5/14

re 5/14 - to put a sailboat back in order
faeriekaye, the problem is the chat sometimes moves so fast it's hard to keep up.
faeriekae-- Hello.
faeriekae - you just have to talk more. with so many people and so much going on, it's easy to overlook one comment. but if you make yourself annoying, like me, people are bound to talk to you. :) nice to have you, though. :)
joelgee, hello to you my new babble friend.
te 5/14 t plus rowing machine plus vowel
faeriekae we dont mean to ignore anyone but sometimes it is easy to miss a posting when there is a lot of chat
faearieke Hello from the american Dutch ... and G'nite all joelgee we'll talk some more later tomorrow or so. I know the company your referring to DSM?
lucky. later.
hurshy I do kind as just sit in the back row and listen and take it all in.
besides, we all like faerie!
Snooozzz and snuggle with wine and tv..... bye
bye lucky!
well, that's ok if that's your style, faeriekae - and you can still pick up lots of clues that way!
Later Hursh
hi faeriekae :) a lot of what we all say doesn't get a response...but welcome... bye Lucky :)
Time for me to get productive, too. It's a beautiful day here in South Carolina. Have fun, all.
you get those, cathb?
Sherb like a sip before I really go?
hey, lurking is fine, I do it all the time. Just like to read and be amused, laugh, pick up some clues and sometimes ask for help. Love it here. joey
bye mprotz...enjoy your day :)
Wow you people really are ok I guess I don't need a personal invitation to put my two cents worth in and there are many times when I could use your help Thanks to all
i wonder how many "silent partners" we have...
Lucky - I'm intrigued...a sip of what? hi joey!
btw, usually specific clue requests do not go ignored, unlike other comments.
I'm stealth babbling at the moment. I zoom in to snag clues and away I go again! lol
Hurshy, a lot more than you realize. Every once in a while I look at the rankings from the top - I don't recognize half the names there. I go back and read a lot of clues and don't see a lot of those names.
not all hurshy got a bit lost...still need re6/24 (1st one not elizabeth re****) re6/18 the last one te5/14
My wine... which will go nicely with the TV in bed after I leave you all
Hi Sherb, ty. I really do like it here.
deutsch is always zooming around in steath babble mode. we had somebody called "zoom" earlier and it reminded me of you. zoom, you still here?
i seldom chat, often play and often my posts are ignored, always check the log though, i guess i tend to watch in the back ground in the real world too
that IS the first re 6/24. second is: kansas and nebraska are in the same re**** of the US
hurshy - there are 2,566 players currently listed in the rankings, which means they've played 3 games or more in the last 30 days...so I guess most don't chat...I lurk myself sometimes, when the log is moving really quickly and I don't have much time
I've been a silent babble for awhile now fun to just listen and grab a clue when possible I'm usually at work so I don't have time to chat
re 6/18 cry again or rip again
te 5/14 t plus popular NBC medical drama plus abbr for state of Georgia
any help wtih ni5/20 and ni6/30 plz
I also lurk whilst babbling; great fun this; anyone have clues for na 7/44 and na 6/30 ?
well thank you Lucky *takes a friendly sip, and hands around a plate of freshly made canapes to everyone on the log*
hmm... so what you're all telling me is, the walls have ears. personally, i need clues too badly to remain silent. and once i finish, i like to repay the kindness.
na7/44....more bitchier
onyx...that is profound...
now hurshy you must think i am really dense..but i very rarely watch tv and not really well versed in abbreviations for american states (being the other side of the pond as they say)
funny thing, though, onyx - i'm that way in the real world, too, but i guess chatting rids me of some inhibitions.
na 6 30 edith on archie bunker was one, me profound?
ni 5/20 japanese fighter ni 6 - derogatory word in united states
cathb - my t plus rowing machine plus vowel clue didn't help either?
Sherb cannot resist * the end of the bottle in near ;(* so the canapes are a great substitute thanks Sherb bye bye bottle and babble and buddies everywhere Later...

well, deutsch, if you're still stealth babbling i hope you've picked up lots of clues!
it goes good. thankee, sanky.
*zooms in, looks around* Yes, Hurshy, I've gotten lots. thanks everyone. but now I'm looking for the two gi's? Any clues, please?
gi 4 computer term ****byte gi 7 girl named virginia's nickname plus a letter
can't tell you how long I have been monkey typing to get the gi 4....... ty for the great clue.
hurshy- glad to hear it goes good for thee. Settling in for some fun babbling for a chilly evening.
yw. all you have to do is ask! :)
i finished hours ago, just whiling away the afternoon by giving clues. but i'll be going soon to watch the packer game.
*dances merrily aroung hurshy* thank you , only 21 to go!
hurshy, I know, I know, but I am stubborn.
"....neither am i a maypole, kindly stop spinning about me." (not that i really mind, just couldn't resist poppins quote opp.)
i think in babble, you have to be a good mix of stubborn and clue hungry.
eg 5/18 ovum plus arkansas abbrv. just in case anyone needs it.
thanks for all the help, everyone. I am the closest I have ever been to finishing a puzzle, but I have to go... have a great rest of whatever stage of the day you are in.
my, aren't we quiet all of a sudden. this must be the ultra serious, concentrating babble crowd.
oh, bye joey!
shhhh.
(whisper) sorry.
hurshey - if this is the super serious group, than, most definitley, I am playing at the wrong time!!! I lurk about daily, using everyones clues!!!
'scuse me. could you speak up? couldn't he** you.
well make up your mind, joelgee!
mind? which mind would that be?
the one you aren't using to babble with.
TE 5/14 and the 1st TE 5/10?
te 5/10 te plus ra 4 (precip) minus last letter
senor joelgee no esta.
te 5/14 rhymes with german word for town plus vowel
joelgee - no habla espanol. did you say you don't exist?
Do I exist? Very existential question. Exist in which sense? I don't know, hursh. I have 14 words left. All 4-letter words are gone and like that.
i just mean, what's esta? and what words do you want clues for?
Actually, I don't speak Spanish either. I think I said I'm not here which might be different than non-existence.
oh, i see.
well, if nobody needs any more clues...
AI 6/24? AN 6/24?
by golly, I'm not ready to grovel for clues yet. Before I start asking, I try to figure it out like a puzzle. For instance, I know what my two te4/4s are. I know two te5s--the ones I don't have--are somewhere between those. Plus, I know by the points, how much the letters have to add up to. For me, part of the fun is figuring that out. When I can't, then I grovel with absolutely no pride whatsoever.
ai 6/24 if you're sorry you did something you re****, change first two letters
You going, hurshy? Have a good rest of Sunday.
yeah, that's my method too, joelgee
an 6/24 a heart condition (or, an plus italian girl's name)

hi again faeriekae! i'm about to go.
thanks for the A clues. Still stuck on TE 5/14?
btw in my clue for ai6, the re**** should have been followed by the word "it".
good afternoon fellow babblers!!!! This puzzle is truly a "bear"
harpjane - so, did you see my german town clue? my rowing machine clue? and my NBC medical drama/Georgia abbr clue? and NONE of those three helped? i'm getting depressed.
mamabear-- is that you lying down, exhausted from wrangling these words?
right you are about that mama!
very accurate observation, joelgee!!!! I have 25 left to find....
i just don't know if i can think of a FOURTH clue for te 5/14.
Don't take it personally, hursh!
hi folks hows it goin?
my time to grovel may I please have a clue for en6/27
Well, then, hursh, leave me alone and maybe it will come to me!
te 5/14 sounds like a manufacturer's name for tear gas.

relieved, harpjane. :)
oh the humility of it all
Hey-Hey!!!! Good steins of dark beer for everyone!!! Das ist gut!!!!
re 7/28 to bury again (alternatively, looks like it ought to rhyme with artist who uses brush and canvas)
in 6/18 one who works in an entry level job, often without pay
thank you hurshy that was driving me nuts
thanks hurshy!!! aaaarrrgggghhhhh - I already had it and forgot to cross it off list. I hate when that happens..... wasting precious babble minutes.

Excuse me for interupting, but I refuse to add ni6, possibly the most offensive term in the language to my list. We've seen epithets for nearly every other distinct group, including Jews and women (of which groups I am a member) but ni6 is where I draw a boundary. My score and ranking aren't that important. What do you all think?
any clues on ga 4/8
haz-- thanks. a case of too obvious to see.
ga 4/8 a pack of kids wearing the same clothes or hats
ah thank you ty haz got it
Here Here. Stand by your principles, Mab.
thanx....my fav. EMT!!!!
mab -you're right to stand by your convictions. It is offensive to you so don't enter it.
many thnx haz could've sworn i had tried that. thanx also 2 hersh -x-
i'd be grateful for a clue for the gi7
On the ni word. I typed it in this morning and was stunned to see that it was taken. But when I think about it, I personally see yesterday's cu word as nearly as bad. Both are very, very hateful. I th ink we have to chalk it up to lack of censorship (which generally is good, in my opinion) and the vagaries of the database used to verify words.
Gi 7 - one who has drunk more than than someone else. It's another comparative
I could of sworn i tried it too
mab-- I would not use that word in conversation. However, following Lenny Bruce's lead, it is JUST a word. The definition calls it what it is. Are you calling anybody that word? Do you know where your feelings lie about that word? Do it. There's no derogatory intention on your part. The words are generated randomly. On the other hand, who am I to tell you what words to use and not use. In the final analysis, as ugly as it is, it is just a word.
Haz1558 thanks-got it
mab it is disturbing that it accepts the n-word and the c-word, but not fest which i seem to find about twice a week. what the..???
Frances - I'm glad. Once you get it, you realise how hard it is to give a decent clue!
well folks thats me done 4 the nite. -X-
Good night happy 1
mab-- It's not a tidy universe. What can I say? The dictionary Dr_God chose--as any other dictionary--is arbitrary concerning the words it contains. Short answer: Go figure.
still scratching Haz -its late at night and anyway I wouldnt drink more than any one else. (and if you believe that........)
just looking back in and i'm with joelgee. these words are just taken from the dictionary which lists all words and doesn't pretend some don't exist. it's a computer and it doesn't know. it's like when a toddler grabs your boob - it doesn't mean anything!
Oh hersy, it's sad how much I get your toddler analogy! LOL
sorry got it.Thanks. And it was my tipple too!!
I like the toddler thing too.
time to eit dinr
Regarding the ni word, I realise that it is especially offensive in the States. It probably isn't viewed with such horror on this side of the Atlantic simply because we have a different historical experience.
and i make those comments as someone who is offended at any type of swearing in real life, even the mild.
a list of the a's please.
haz-- you make a point. this is the world wide web.

anyone who needs the word list should go to babblers anonymous (link on right) and look at the first post under "general"
bye again!
Thank you Joel, Julie, hurshy and all. What you've said makes me think. We wouldn't want censorship and the word exists and therefore is defined in dictionaries. I guess it is a personal choice. What you say makes a great deal of sense. It is just such a hateful word that makes my skin crawl, so I will not include it, but neither, of course, would I judge anyone who did. A bit of a shock for me. Thanks again
Haz1558 agree and I suffer from allergies!
hurshy - it seems you can hardly bear to te4/4 yourself away for any length of time!
Frances - I hope they are mild ones!
I've picked up a few clues tonight - Thanks
does anyone elses puzzle keep refreshing by itself?
Haz1558 used to be really bad but improving as I get older older older older
So, Frances, there are some advantages to advancing years... I'm experiencing the opposite in that I now have migraines I never used to have and certain foods are a no no. Nothing life-threatening, thank goodness.
Am i visible just wondering cause noone EVER answers me
You're visible, Shorty, I just wasn't sure if I was being refreshed or not.
I can't find the et4, clues please

I think - there is a big difference between a word and using a word. Certain words we would not care to use, but they are "real". They are used / have been used in the world, and so exist in the world's dictionaries. Just because I include such a word on a word list, I pesonally don't think I am implying any derogation or disrespect by it, and therefore I'm going to use it. Just my opinion :)
Shorty: I think I often was overlooked before I payed up and got an icon simply because one stands out less than iconed people. I've had the non-stop refresh experience. Try hitting your refresh button and it will probably stop. Failing that, log out and back in again.
irn, thanks found the Et/4
okay, last word. I'm begging. re5/14. It's either the 1st or 2nd one. Not the area of a country. Help.
Hi everyone! I've but one to go! *dances merrily*
i dont know whats wrong with my puter but at this rate i' never get any words posted
I need some help with ni 5/20
Deutsch-- I'll help you with yours if you'll help me with mine.
re 5/14 add the shortened term for not applicable to your area's first three letters.
re5/14 a queen/king re...(s) their kingdom
ni5 japanese warrior--usually dressed in black
Oh, Joelgee! Hi how are you? I need an re 5 14 , the one next to the monarch rules. And you?
Joel you have 2 choices: re 4 4 with an e on the end or re (set something up again) think of another name for a semi truck could you trade for the last re 6 18?
Haz1558 you have my sympathy spent many hours in bed in a dark room. even the migraines have improved so yes there is something good about getting older
Teenage mutant turtles for the ni 5
jeol - wow, how obvious. pass the haddock, please
Oh, Haz , you beat me! lol
Thanks Atalante. I think that's sensible. Haz is right, I believe, that in the US the term is so historically laden, in a profoundly negative sense. I know that that is a large factor in my shock.
It's like a typing contest sometimes to see who can post the clues the quickest...
johnp-- i have both of those.
Hi again!!! Had a side trip to the laundry room..... any clues on the gr 7/44? purty pleez?
joel - is my post at 5.04 of any help?
deutsch-- we could be looking for the same word. It comes either before or after the rule of a monarch.
Yes, Joelgee, and I'm not getting the clues.
How bout that last RE 5/14?
Mamabear - think of a film star Stewart G and take out a vowel.
I can understand that an American perspective is distinctly different from my perspective, Mab! Isn't it weird how something so simple can have such an effect? I suppose it shows once again the power of words ...
re 5 14 - a king or queen re 's over her kingdome re 5 14 - 1st 3 letters of your 6 24's and the last 2 letters is the chemical symbol for sodium

Okay - try adding a letter to ra 6/24.

Mamabear, the ma7 builds on the ma5/16.
The ma 7 could be used to describe a dog that suffers from ma5/16 more than another.

ruff - re set something up, like fishing line. or re + another name for a semi truck

johnp-- which game are you watching? American football or European football?
The famous last re 5/14. Does anyone know the actress who played Emma Peel in the Avengers? Add part of her surname to the re.

ruff trips, and rolls away laughing
joey - you're either missing * what a king does or * subtract a vowel from prev re6

if you were here for my boob comment earlier, you already figured that out.
Thank you! I am so intimidated by this kind of thing but, as usual, people on this list walked me through it and it worked just fine. I took this one off the web. Is there also a way to use photos of one's own? Ones which are already scanned into the computer?

So here's my favorite buddhist joke. I'll have to send it in segments: A man has longed his whole life to practice at a particular buddhist monastery. He knows that they rarely admit anyone, let alone caucasians, but he travels across the ocean, treks through the mountains and arrives at the monastery.
answer: make me one with everything!

it wasnt bad right where I am but about 30,000 people will be out of power til Wed. I would like to thank Babble for keeping my wits. I didn't get to bed til 3. It got bad at 3:20. I wasn't asleep enough to be scared to death by the storms.
well, I'm going to bid you all adieu until tomorrow.

Where he is turned away. He sits outside the gates in rain, snow, for weeks, until finally he is granted an audience with the abbott. The abbott says" You can stay with us one the following conditions: You will maintain the great silence except or once every 10 years, when you will meet with me and be allowed 3 words".
the first re 4/4 with 3 more letters RE 7/28

I'm still here smeltzie...... (hey, I can see you rolling your eyes - stop that)
everyone is leaving me. *uncontrollable bawling and shaking...snot flying everywhere.*
The man agrees. So, after 10 years he is summoned to meet with the abbott. The abbott asks him what he has to say of his first 10 years of practice and the man answers, "Bed hard". (Okay, so I goofed - he is allowed only 2 words)
ok, smeltz, keep your bun on.
That's why everyone is leaving, Smeltz. The snot thing? Not so much.

The abbott nods and sends him away. After 20 years he returns for an interview. The abbott asks him what he has to say after 20 years and the man replies "Food stinks". The abbott nods.
oh a little snot never hurt anyone

Another 10 years pass and the man returns to the abbott once again. The abbot says "So you have been with us for 30 years now. What do you have to say?". The man says "I quit". The abbott nods and says "I'm not surprised. You've done nothing but complain since you got here".

It just cracked me up that I read a message saying "a little snot never hurt anybody." from shorty. Little snot. Shorty. I laughed.
The connection keeps going down -probably because of the storm we're having, so it's time to walk away from the computer. Good night all.
ok, i got another one! what does a man consider a 7-course meal? a hot dog and a 6-pack!
thanks LOL
OK Smeltzie - this one is for you! Two guys immigrate to America. On their first day off the boat they are wandering around New York City seeing the sights. As lunch time approaches they decide they are hungry. They then come up to a street vendor selling hot dogs. One says to the other in a shocked tone, "My God. Do they eat dogs in America?" "I don't know!" says the other, equally appalled. "Well," says the first, "we're going to be Americans, so we must do as they do." They approach the vendor bravely. "Two hot dogs, please." The vendor hands them their food in a pair of paper sacks. The two immigrants sit on a park bench to eat their lunch. One looks inside his sack, hesitates and turns to his partner and says, "Uh, which part of the dog did you get?"
This is really fun, guys, but I have a Girl Scout newsletter to write tonight, unless anyone is in need of help??

mamabear, where do you live in Chicago. I haven't been there since 1971 when I graduated from U of C. I imagine it must be a very different place now. Now more Mayor Daley (the original) for one thing.

Wow what timing. I needed the an 7/40 for my last word and mamabear did it again! Thank you :)
He 6/27?
And the duck joke you have all been waiting for: A duck walks into a bar and asks , do you sell grapes? The bar tendor says no sorry. the duck walks in the next day and asks "do you sell any grapes?" the bar tendor says no sorry. the duck went in every day that month and asked the same thing, and as you guessed he kept getting the same answer. so one day the bar tendor got really fed up and answerd to the duck "if you come in here one more time and ask for grapes, I'll nail your beak to the bar. once again the duck walked in to the bar but this time he said "have you got any nails?" the bar tendor replied no. the duck asked.. have you got any grapes?"

For today's, I started last nite at midnite when the puzzle first opened and got the obvious ones (all of about 35 I think) then this afternoon, I went back through the chat log and pulled out all the good clues that are usually given on the bigger words. Then I picked at the 4's and 5's. This was a hard puzzle. yesterday's was much easier - more "normal" words
gi 7/ 36

Join us in the jacuzzi, Smeltzie - we drained the lime while you were working on the grid... it's filled with nice .... warm..... 100 degree water... (how strange) and all the jets are running!!!!!
mama - you are unshackled. run, run like the wind... a free round on me...any orders?
Hi Charm!!! didn't see you sneek in!
I'm gonna leave now, when the refreshments start flowin'????? I DON'T THINK SO..... I'll have a malibu & cran!!!!
Hey, MamaBear - just returned from visiting the parents in Atlanta. Needed the twists & turns of babbling to recover!
Time for bed - commute to No Va is a killer on Monday mornings - good night all

I'll have an Alabama Slammer, Smeltz
saphyre - need one for the road?
g'nite saphyre!!! sleep tite and drive carefully in the am!!!
I'll have to pass this time get up at 4am - yuck - see you tomorrow :)
I don't know who bought it - was before my time... and I hear it holds as many as we can squeeze in... like a Volkswagon in a circus!
No idea who bought it Smeltz, it was here when I arrived but I believe that it is a quantum model making size irrelevant :)
nite
GW 1/2 oz amaretto almond liqueur 1/2 oz Southern Comfort® peach liqueur 1/2 oz sloe gin 1 splash orange juice 1 splash sweet and sour mix shaken
Sorry to see you go, saphyre Rest Well!

Smeltz, Mama , Grey ! how was your sunday ?
Just got one. What's with the inclusion of proper names?
Granny! welcome think about the inside of the io*** Breeze
Always clues available for the askin', wisedoggy 1st ag5 is a graffiti artist without the t 2nd ag5 is a type of marble, not a shooter both share the 1st 3 letters
ag5/18 - what do you call someone who attends Texas A&M? The other ag5/18 has a different final consonant.
ai + double consonant + ie ai + same double consonant + er
Hey there, groovy! in5 + io5/12
thanks Smeltz ! I've decided tonight I want to be a kid again with kid problems lol
thanks all. onward!
well granny, a bad storm came through this side of the states last night and my sister is without power so she is here tonight.
Hey Grey how's tricks? lol
Hi groovy!!!! My computer froze up and I had to kick it.... I mean "reboot"...... how was your day? I'm about ready to kill off this Slammer and sign off.
oh wow you all ok ?
pretty quiet sunday, groovy --- never got together with my friends cos he wasn't feeling well -- spent the day spoiling the baby
I'm fine but about 30,000 don't have power.
my day was good ........ I've decided in my next life Im not having kids .. I'l get like 5 dogs and call it quits lol
Grey you are such a good dad
I feel very fortunate that storm did not hit us last nite on it's way over to you, Smeltzie.
oh wow Smeltz thats terrible ........ sounds like us in florida once the hurricanes hit
I hear ya, granny - they do have their challenges, don't they???? What WERE we thinkin? Except I would be totally lost without my daughters!!! They are my best friends.
I just had a thunderstorm barrel through here - but it's already over
I don't want to minimize the hurricane by comparing this to that. It was just a little bump in the road.
Mama I just had to be the mean nasty mom
It's called tough love, granny. You gotta do it.
Smeltz anything where people get hurt is bad , be it a hurricane , tornado , earthquake
we had a few branches down but I could still babble
wisedoggy - what's your word count?
My dad gave us his car which was nice and my sons been using it but I don't have insurance on it yet in our name ....... you can guess the rest
granny I'm taking orders for drinkies what words do you need.
Is your son ok?
um an 7 40
yes mama just stubborn
"anything where people get hurt is bad , be it a hurricane , tornado , earthquake" Amen - groovy It's a pity that it take death tolls in the 1000's to make people sit up and take notice
Smeltzie, that Slammer was pretty good (double that it were) .... make me another before I hit the road.... would ya please?
Ok I can deal with him going to work 5 minutes away but his GF is coming to town and he wants to be the pimp daddy in the caddy !!!
sometimes we all need a kick in the pants to figure out what life is all about.
I understand.... my son has been a challenge since CONCEPTION... no lie. Stubborn as the day is long.
here you go mama...in a sippy cup
so true Smeltz !!!
I keep telling him life is not fair or easy !!!
an7/40 - someone who has a sensitivity to shellfish is a******* ( substitute n for the ll)
yes yes yes !! thanks grey !!!
It's dark in here. is it a BLUE sippy cup? I only drink out of blue sippy cups, thank you.
en 6/27 please
groovy - they insist on learning the hard way. Trouble is while they are feeling the ramifications of learning that way.... so are you. Been there too.
well, mama, it's my favourite blue jello cup. It's stained blue.
en 6/27 en + a small unit of measure (also a gr 4/6 in the list)
en6/27 - en + gr4/7 (metric unit of weight)
Speaking of stained, there are *Parts* of me that are still orange.
I wonder if I can insure it but keep the title in dad's name until he sigsn the correct papers to register it
MAMA - stop doing that!!!
gg - alexander **** bell
Grey you are soo wonderful .......
Mine was first this time *wink*
MAMA - I think your last post qualifies as TMI :D
how about ar 5-12
Stop doing what?
tell ya what if you help me , i'll buy the rounds for tomorrow
ar 5/12 is a hard one to clue. ar + what you say if you see a mouse (one vowel letter) + ic
groovy - keep saying that and I might start believing it MAMA - stop stealing thoughts out of my head -- there's barely enough room in here as it is!
mama I say ARsh*t
How is it that you are so sure I am the one doing the stealing, if they are the same..... huh?
gg - maybe you should buy now so we are motivated.
groovy - alrighty then, that clue won't work - just go with the one vowel letter part!!!! LOL
sure thing !! what would you all like ? ....... let me get the bartender
Mama if I see a mouse I call hubby LOL he's a pest control tech
Fat tire on draft please!!!
groovy - greek war god - s + ic
I can't believe I am still here. I haven't had dinner, and it's 9:37..... I have laundry to fold.... you people are so much fun!!!! Another Slammer please!!!!
MAMA - when DID you last eat?
Well then, granny, if your hubby's name consists of a one letter vowel, then the clue still works!
ummmmmmm..... about noon or noon 30
Smeltz - what is a fat tire on draft?
Smeltzie - what is a fat tire on draft?
MAMA - you need to eat something
only the worlds greatest beer (newbelgium.com)
muchas gracias !!!
can i have a clue for en6/18 pleeeeeeease
en 6/18 - when you go into a room you en*** it + a
shorty - take to en5 before it and and a vowel
Mama I still have leftovers if you want ... shrimp, pasta, garlic, mushrooms, peppers, sundried tomoatoes
mama - I have a black and white cookie.
That sounds wonderful!!!! Ok yu are making me hungry. 5 more minutes. and I'm geography..... or is that History???? I always get those 2 mixed up.
ty ty ty got it
But you'll be back, right MAMA?
oh my gosh I have to be up at 530 am
Sounds good Smeltzie, (you didn't sneeze on it, did you?)
can i ask a ? ........
I don't know about that GW, my alarm goes off at 5:15am
ask away groovy
I'm done in 20 when mama leaves.
mama we can met for coffee at 6 lol
Grey if I have the dodge warranty on my car .. still have 15,000 miles / 1 yr ........ do I call them first or carmax with the extended warranty?
Smeltzie - whatever will people say if they see us walk out together??? imagine the scandal!
Sorry to hear about all the early risings, on one level I am jealous because my hours at work have been cut and I don't have to be in til late
every time I brake my car shakes on the left side now ...
(mama - you run to the right and scream "I'm being eaten by ants" and I'll go left and sing a tune from "Chicago"
LMAO Smeltzie!!!!
Grey give us your phone # and we'll give you a wake up call if you want also
*crawls in* hi everyone - now that our storm is over, trying to finish...someone take pity on me and help with NI5/20? i will eat fish if i have to...
groovy - I would go back to the Dodge dealer or wherever you got your warranty from and have that checked out
teenage mutant .... turtles.....
I'm not sure, groovy, but I would think that since you are within the original time frame the dealer would be the way to go I would think
Who would say "Hiiiieeeee yyyaaaaaa....eeeaaaaaawwwwwwaa aaa..."
sorry that was for ni5
I know it must be obvious. I have 4 of the RE 6's. Can someone help w/ my final word? I have: 1. capital of saskatchewan 2. one who leases 3. area anyone got a solid clue for the 4th? I am sure it is right in front of me...but I can't find it!
the ni word is a very derrogatory term that has ensued much debate throughout the day.....
re: wake up call - no thanks -- I'm jealous because if I were getting up that early I would have a real job with steady hours instead of a retail position
hmmm I got the car at carmax and it still had the remander of the warranty on it ...... but I got the extended warranty so any repair is $50.... i'll call dodge first I guess ..... a friend whose a mechanic said it sounds like a bad strut
note to audience - when saying that don't karate chop wife...she hits back
and ah, hi temple!
Mama I thought nawwwwww I won't type that in .. then did and OMG there it was !!!
I did the same thing granny! Seems to be a trend this week.
thanks, granny! Yay! i am DONE!!! see you guys!
Hi Owl! ni5 is oriental assassin/spy popularised by cinema
yes what is it with the words this week?? we had slut , cu.., now that one
you are more than welcome !!!
I sympathize GW, on the job situation. It all goes back to what granny said about life not being fair, etc.. sometimes. I am approaching a deadline at work that has me working 11 - 12 hrs a day for about a 3 or 4 week period. It is not fun.
repost in case it got buried: I know it must be obvious. I have 4 of the RE 6's. Can someone help w/ my final word? I have: 1. capital of saskatchewan 2. one who leases 3. area anyone got a solid clue for the 4th? I am sure it is right in front of me...but I can't find it!
was my clue not good enough...try it..really, say it together "Hiiiieeeee yyyaaaaaa....eeeaaaaaawwwwwwaa aaa..."
* bear hug to mama bear* been stealth typing...system skittish because of storm...missed the company, though!
Sorry KJS - to rip again
aww Mama we can come help you if you want ....
The storm was pretty intense, wasn't Owl?
OMG. Told you it would be embarassingly easy! *BLUSH*
Arat: Aret you there tonite?
**That's all for tonight, folks!**
KJS - the last few always are in hindsight :D
4 more minutes and it's asta la vista, baby!
So long KJS
I guess I should get ready for bed ... but I have the couch tonight ..... what a bummer !!!! !
10 minutes to go...where's my drink?
greywoulf - i could hear it over your way - not too much, here, but got kicked off twice!
Yeah, I never got mine either.... who's tendin tonite?
Smeltz where is the waiter ?????? I called for him a few minutes ago
*sniffle*
GW - you in serious mode tonite? You're veeeeewwwy quiet!
I thought gg was.
Does anyone have a clue for in 10/77?
Owl - I've got the cable modem and I am amazed that I had no problems! Usually when the weather is bad everything Comcast hiccups :D
*mamabear hands Smeltzie a tissue.... please don't use your sleeve in public!*
Greetings one and all !! How is today's puzzle? Looks like a nasty one !!
comcast? Oh no ........ we have adelphia but they are going comcast 1-2006
any clues out there for na 7/44 please
mama thanks - (don't forget...run right and yell)
Kimm - it is a combo of an in 5 and an io 5....
well i did miss all of your company...if you are pro, then the grid automatically ticks off words? if so that would surely shorten the time...seems to take so long!
Just alittle tired MAMA I actually took a nap in the afternoon today. Something I pretty much NEVER do
akaann - you are correct... it is a BEAR! (and not a nice one like mwwwaahhh!)
Grey , Adelphia is horrible ....... they gave me a whole $7 credit for outages and we have 4 .. yes 4 cable modems in the house each on seperate lines
Yeah Smeltzie.... ants chasing me.... I got it *wink*
Thanks mamabear, think I will skip this one as it is nearly over anyway.
Temple - it doesn't tick them off (make them mad?) individually. I print the 2 letter list and cross them off as I find them myself.
groovy - I hate that cable companies feel they can take such advantage of us, just because the majority of the public is to lazy to object
Smeltzie..... you ready to jet?
grey so true .. hubby and I networked for awhile but he can't play his game with me networked so I got my own modem . I got unplugged every night !!
Owl - what the stat board does for the pros is let us know how many words originate from a particular square on the grid. It does make it easier to detrmine if you have all of a particular letter but that's about it
well, good night, all...no babbling tomorrow - big night out! stay well and pleasant dreams to all my fellow babblers...
one more clue. CCC - na 7/44 if your husband na** you and my husband na** me, but mine is worse. then he is na*****
had my own modem installed and bought a brand new computer ......
goodbye all (going left) "when I see you walking by and the tears are in my eyes..."
GO MAMA GO!!!
nite Owl !!! have a great day tomorrow
G'Nite Temple Owl! Enjoy your night out!!!
g'nite Temple!!!! Have fun with your big nite out... although I don't know how it could possibly be more fun than babbling. but that's just me.. LOL
Good night, Smeltz! See you tomorrow
mamabear starts running madly.... CRASH.... SMELTZIE... you were supposed to go LEFT..... did I hurt you???? You nearly fell out of your bun...
well 530 comes early sooooo..... im off like a prom dress !!! love , hugs and stay groovy !!!

good nite groovy...... good luck with "everything"
Thanks mamabear!
goodbye GW, GG and Mama "25 0r 6 to 4"
thanks Mama , I may be short but I can stand on a chair with a bat LOL
an 6/24 - a heart condition causing much pain that can compare to heartburn
G'Nite Ladies! groovy - always fun chatting with you :) MAMA - Sleep Well, Sleep Tight (*big hugs + neck rub*)
mama - go go go!!!
night smeltz, mamabear, greywoulf, groovy granny , ccc, kimm and anyone else still working!
still cant figure in 10/77 HELP PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE
g'nite ALL!!!! *bear hugs to each and everyone of you ...... hmmmm.. might hang around for that neck rub.... feels soooooo good (thanks GW *wink plus*)
te5/14 - use te5/10 but change the 4th letter
shorty there's an in 5 that is a common prefix as in in***changeable. add that to your io 5 that is spelled like the veggie with the first letter changed.
shorty - in5/10 (to bury) + io5/12 (io*** Breeze)
Please tell me you have it shorty.... I have to pee!!!!
go pee ill figure it out LOL
GOOD NITE.........
thank you! almost gave up, thanks again! but now I'm finished! woo hoo!
I'm still here to cover the hint line for awhile G'nite again MAMA ;)
ty ty ty got it
Glad to hear it mlk Great job!!
excellent, shorty How many more do you need?
you dont wanna know
any clues on the last re 5/14
shorty - if you have seen any of my earlier posts on the topic, you know that teh word count doesn't really matter It's all about the thrill of the hunt :)
no i missed that part i was watching my fair brady but no i need 46
last re 5/14 - re*** to kitbash a device so it works you jury*** it)
actually this is better than i normally do
shorty - I am actually referring to past days -- it seems this topic comes up at least once a day But 46 is a doable number Just ask and I will help out for as long as I can
ok thanks
en 6/27
en6/27 - en + small metric weight (for cocaine).
never mind i have that one
en 6/27 - en + gr4/7 (metric unit of weight)
eg 5/18
Charm, sorry I forgot you were still here :)
eg5/18 - one who begs minus the 'b'.
thanks
Hey GreyWoulf - I'm in and out. Step in, poke my nose around, then lie low! Doing well?
Pretty good- spent day spoiling my daughter and just relaxing How about you?
re7/28
drove back to FL from Atlanta - got stuck in several road construction messes! Now just enjoying being back home.
re7/28 - to in5/10 (bury) again
re7/28 - to re-bury a body.
Charm, that is the main thing I hate about driving on trips, never knowing when I will run into construction! Otherwise, if I could live in my car, I would
im still cant get it....does anyone have any other clues for re 5/14???
Well, the car does have most of life's amenities: cd player, a/c, sunroof. But I'm just not attached to mine.
Carly - A tractor trailer is called a big r**
oh my gosh ty ty ty ty ty ty smack me with fish
thanx...i got it...and now im finished!!!
I'm not attached to the car so much as the freedom that it represents
Great to hear, Carly!!
2 more worshippers fall down in ecstacy before the grid....
Maybe we should start a cult?
is there any way to know the total word count without being a pro member?
I'm pretty sure it's already been started! Besides I like having all my hair and am not too enamored of orange robes. Are you a "Bloom County" fan?
You know, put on a show, convince people to give us their life savings, etc. ... Nah! Demeans the board and takes precious time away from babbleing
I think we already qualify . .
otterpop - click the babblers anonymous link to the right then click general topic then daily puzzle
ai 5/10??
yes otter go to babblers aynon on right hand side of page
Thanks Mamabear. Sorry it took me so long, but I have a few cubs of my own to tuck in.
Hi all, I am so stuck on my last two. Can any one please(with sugar on top) help me. Any clues for in 6/18 and the first re 6/24. I just dont see them. I will probably need the fish, ohhh well
ai5/10 - a frame where clothes are dried.
Hi torgone! Charm - one of the unhappiest days in my life was when Bloom County ended
CCC - MAMA had to go to bed, but she'll get the message
In6/18 - Monica Lewinsky was an infamous one at the White House.
1st re6/24 - now a girl's name, but means 'queen.'
ai 5/10 -- what you are when you *** out a closed stuffy room
ty Charm Yes I really should get the fish for missing that one lol
GW - do you remember when Bill the Cat joined the mahareshi in Oregon and Opus had to rescue him? Also, there's a very early one where Opus meets a Hare Krisha and the tag line has to do with "hairy fish nuts"?
sorry, wrong one... ai 6
ai6 - "An ornamental tuft of upright plumes, especially the tail feathers...."
ai6 - think in terms of the male counterpart to the PT Barnum bird/exit and replace the 1st letter with the ai
Hi all. How is the puzzle tonight? I just logged on for the first time today and I am trying to decide if I can finish it in an hour or so.
It's doable in an hour. Hi, ohro....
Hey ohrom, it's a short but tricky one 106
and its definitely doable with the support team in place
If I've gotten halfway in half an hour, you should be able to do well.
Thanks GW, Charm. Good to see you guys again. I guess I will get started. I usually can't finish a puzzle with even 12 hours of concerted effort so this is mostly a lost cause but I will give it a try. : )
Charm - yes I remember the "hairy fish nuts" (lol) -- when I got to PA I found out that Opus had his own strip...but it's just not the same I miss Milo and Binkley -- remember Milo going into Burger King to order "one whopper, no bun"
Hey Torgone. I am always happy to see my favourite member of the Marx brothers. : )
Positive thoughts only, ohrom -- we're here for you
PT Barnum bird?
GW - check out ucomics.com - they have new (I think) Bloom County, but it's $10/year and I'm just too cheap for that. I also noticed that the Atlanta Journal Constitution runs it; maybe you can blackmail your local rag into carrying it!
OK, got it thanks!
Thanks GW. I am feeling the good vibes that you are sending through the internet. : )
Thanks for the tip, Charm I'm too strapped to pay right now, myself
Teamwork! Yay team! Go team! Remember - There's no "I" in team, but there is meat.
Lol Torgone. You were a cheerleader in highschool, no?
Um, no.
There is an I in win
My son told me that when i used the no I in team remark. He is 7. lol
only one left. any clues for re 6/24, I have the one that is a girl's name. Please.
yeah, but our wiew is that the game is about socialising and having fun, not winning The more people who finish the grid and have fun while trying, the more EVERYBODY wins
I just come here for the hottub and the copius amounts of wine that are dispensed in the chatroom.
re6/24 - an area, usually a geopolitical unit. The US has the north, south, midwest, southwest, west....
Could i get a clue for the in 10/77 pleeese??
re6/24 -- a large area (first 3 of the other 6/24 + the 1st 3 of the io5/12)
Need clues for he 4/5 in 4/4 na 4/4 Thanks!
I'm here because I need a life. LOL
he4/5 - listen, it's what you do with those things that stick out from the side of your head.
na 4/4 - na + two vowels (greek orig)
Me too, charm. in4/4 is the famous fresh water dolphin with the famous long snout.
Thanks Charm. I thought I had that one already. My computer has a mind of it's own and sometimes I think it's possessed. Thanks for your help.
in 10/77 = 5/10 + 5/12
Have that he 4/5; need the last he 4/5
Anyone need a clue before I call it a night?
in10 -in5/10 (to bury) + io5/12 (io*** Breeze)
in10/77 = in5/10 (meaning between) + in5/12 (type of greek column).
sorry, in 5/10 + io 5/12
last he4/5 - a type of tall, white, graceful wading bird (spelt differently).
the he 4/5s...the first was is what you do with your ears and for the 2nd, change a vowel for what your are when you recieve something from a will.
last he4/5 - the te4/4 bird with an h instead of a t
OK, OK, I admit it, I'm here because I need a life too :D
Charm, Thanks for the clue--I'd turned the last two he 4/5s around!
It's not necessarily a bad reason, you know!
Atty - y/w. Are you an atty? And are the initials really CJS? Or are you just having a little fun?
I never said that!! But I do believe in the other stuff I said, too :)
Charm, I'm done for the night so those answers will have to wait!
I assume that there has been a lot of chat about this already but I wish that ni 6/30 was not counted as a word.
'nite-nite. suffering from insomnia - too much driving....
Nite Charm. Sweet dreams to you.......
you are correct, ohrom the majority consensus is that it is in the same category as the cu4 in yesterdays grid
Yeah, GW. I about fell over dead when I saw that CU word yesterday.
I was off and on all day yesterday and everytime, it ended up being a major topic of conversation
Like it or not, lots of unpleasant words are in common enough usage to be in official dictionaries.
Very true, torgone Just because a word may have a bad history, does not negate the fact that it exists or that at some point in history, it was common parlance I think that the biggest problem today is that too many people are attempting to rewrite history to impose todays values on the past
I am so stuck on the in4..clues please!
Have a good night you guys. I got to 30 words, noticed what time it is and then said cuss words because I have to get up and go to work in 5 hours. : ) See you guys tomorrow. PS---GW: I was walking down the street today and I walked past a huge crowd of people in LOTR costumes. You weren't in NYC today were you?
In4/4 - "A South American freshwater dolphin." It's one of those silly Scrabble (R) words....
Nite, ohro. in4=A South American freshwater dolphin. It is ten or twelve feet long, and has a hairy snout.
ohrom, know that MAMA and groovy are not with us for similar reasons and No, I was not in NYC today, I couldn't afford it if I wanted to be there And besides, my days of being a costumed fan are in the past
thanks charm..how do I look up that dolphin clue??
helenary - you could paste the clue into google or into a reverse dictionary like "onelook."
Sleep well, ohrom and if I do plan on being in the city I will give you a heads up, It would be interesting to maybe grab some coffee
thanks charm..I did look up reverse dictionary, and found it. I reakon that is a good site for us bubbles
glad it worked for you. =8-)
OK. I was just checking. I remembered that you mentioned that you were of the sci-fi persuasion. On coffee: that sounds cool. I am still protesting starbucks though. May have to buy it at a deli for that reason. : )
$3 for a small coffee!! I agree with you completely
Anyone out there need any help? I'm still here if you need me
just hanging out, GW.
Any clues for an 7/40?
Visited grandma today, so I got a really late start.
an7 - if you have a sensitivity to shellfish you are all***** change the 'll' to 'n'
an7 - lack of activity. Sounds like the type of crisis when gas prices are high, supply is low, and exxon/mobil makes $1billion profit in a quarter.
GW - GREAT clue. I was wracking my puny gray matter!
I cannot tell a lie - I stole it from MAMA
Thanks for all the help you guys are great!!
Thanks GW and Charm!
How about en 6/18?
en6/18 - and an 'a' to your en5
The en5/10 above it + a vowel. I leave the *good* clues to GW and Mama....
Excellent! How about the second in 5/10?
in5/10 - among, between. Usually used as a prefix.
to bury (a body) add re for the re7
IN 5/10: Monica Lewinsky was an in 6/18, drop the last letter for 5/10
Thanks, guys! You're all a great help. I feel like I'm trying to get a final done or something!
Happy to be of service
ni 5/20?
How about re 5/14 (not the girl's name or the "area.")?
ni 5/20 teenage mutant ni*** turtles
ni5/20 - teenage, mutant ***** turtles.
ni5/20 - oriental assassin/spy popularised in the cinema
NI 5/20 has a J in it.
MAMA - you're back!!
just a figment of your imagination......
That was a long bathroom break. Everything come out ok?
re5/14 - same as the girl's name without the 'i'.
re 5/14 - take the re6/24 that is a girls name and lose the i
re5 what you do to sails, again
took a nice long hot shower..... feel REFRESHED!!!
Hi harpjane - how are you? MAMA - most days I consider myself to be a figment of my own imagination
gw, just fine. I noticed you checked in a few hours ago, about when I checked out. I"m back for a few.
good evening harpjane. i'm just passing through...
yeah, got the new George Carlin special on HBO, a happy sleeping daughter (mom is watching Carlin), and friends on the net, who needs anything else?
evening mama
Ben & Jerry's 'chubby hubby' + the doctor's permission.
new George Carlin special???? i wonder if he still does the Hippy Dippy Weather Man.
