debbie - close enough for govt' work as they say! F = C x 1.8 + 32 so it really is close enough.
more celsius - 4 is 40 - 16 is 61, 28 is 82
I think we should visit Jill and Hetty, then debb (Disneyland) then star and then mrp and Jemma and the rest of the down-underers... and finish at my place for MJCLs and a rousing game of scrabble.

that is funny, melon! I bet your mother was a wonderful cook!
joey - it runs both ways. had been taking a night class, been a bit lonesome simce it stopped. also i seem to get more done when someone's around.
understand both. I am about to have my house to myself for 12 days - first time since Christmas. Have made plans, but also wondering if I will talk to the walls.
she was - and a crossword puzzle doer 9in ink!), bridge player, UpWords maven, scrablle demon, boggle brain - i would have lost her to the 'net had she discovered Babble!.

65 to go . . . must . . . close . . . weary . . . eyes . . .
Yes, Merk. And I'm reading a very old book (published first in 1933) set in Harbin and vicinity (Manchuria generally) - called Oil for the Lamps of China
having no luck finding the the pe 8 word

seriously that is funny... internet not in the dictionary... its lost in cyberspace (which probably isn't a word either)
It tells you to do something- to en*** a word

es 5 anyone?

very nice jil
it's a Canadian diamond
Well I don't like either of them and it makes sense to get rid of Alison first; but she's fun to watch...
es 5 is like en 5 only change the n to an s.
I looked and looked at that and couldn't figure out how to make it. Some days my eyes do not want to cooperate ... or is it my brain? Thanks
just found the in9 (all by myself), I'm soooo proud!!!
I know that feeling, Merk!
ok, i have my new icon & am only going to try to put in a few more words before i keel over

I feel like quoting Sesame Street, and saying that "This Grid was brought to you today by the letters "E" and "S"!!! LOL!
I am not finding the first ne 4,4 word. What am I missing?
LOL. :)
lol jai
Is that the place where birds make their homes, merk?
No, it has to do with the tides- ne+ first vowel+ 16th letter, plus plural it, too...
Thanks, Jai. I didn't have that one yet, either. :)
gotta call it a night now - leaving 64 for tomorrow
Night helen!
good nite everyone :)

Nighty-nite.....
Night, Jai!
Any last clues before I go?

J'ai etudie un peu pour dix ans, comme nef ans-deux ans a la universite.
Pardonez-moi, le grid as le lag!
Je deteste quand cela se produit
Moi aussi!
Aidez-toi?
Non? Bonne nuite, ma chere Euterpe!
Big grid.
Huge! Need any clues??
Just started ;)
So you need 240 clues....let's see....
Merci Jai, mai je suis bon!
LOL Jai. Is the nine a real word?
The nine is a real word!
Absolutely, and is used commonly whenever people have disagreements, and others want to stop the problems, they...IN9
Well, I guess technically they are ALL real words - just some are realer than others!
Jai, can you help with 8 letter word , I have the se and the pa
Got it! Thanks Jai.
Pe8- the annoyer and in8- the newest doctor
YW! I didn't do anything!
jai...isnt the newest doctor a 6 letter?
Hey Jai - I got words that go with your definitions - but not eight letter words...
Just add two of the second vowel to the end of that one, rolin.
aaaah..thx...
Aaah - thanks here too! :D
No problem. :)
what... internet is not found in the dictionary.... how am I playing this game then????
thx, i will have to ponder on the annoyer
Andree, do you have pe 6/21?
LOL! Evil, that is just soooo wrong. We should campaign for internet inclusion.
If so, it's the person who does that.
andree...it sounds like youre stuttering at the end of the annoyer
great looking dog...evil
pe 8 = The person who does pe 6/21
no Eu but i haven't seen the list yet
thanks rolin. its not my actual dog, but I do have a chocolate lab
Ok. Start with a pe 4/5. An annoying insect or rodent.
Then build your way up.
I leave for two minutes, and you folks start blabbling away! LOL
Haha. We planned it!
i love labs.... i left a golden behind in aus when i came here..8sigh*
Matty, you are not the first [or last] on the subject of internet, can't beleive it
Aww. Labs are such pretty dogs.
I ADORE them , have a black lab rescued from a hurricane, named for the hurricne- Ivan.
that believe
Aww. How sweet!
my labs name is Mocha and is 8 months old, so still learning to be a good boy! lots of fun though
My other dog is from Katrina.
That's a sweet thing to do, jai!
I dunno...they spend a LOT of time wrestling.....LOL
evil..my puppy...despite having a pedegree as long as my arm.....failed puppy school..lol
I'd love to have another dog. Mine passed years ago. She was a cocker spaniel. Don't know if the cats would like the idea too much, though. ;)
Ivan is about the same....I also have rescued cats- three blind and seven altogether....I'm nuts....
hehe rolin. i was scared we were going to fail puppy school too, but we made it through. doing level 2 obedience now....
have 100 words, back to ? finish later
Nah. You just love animals! I've been rescuing the cats that live around the house. So far I've managed to convert two females to the life of an indoor cat. The males on the other hand... :P
Do you neuter the cats?
ok..im impressed...george was doing really well at the final presentation...until she got hot...and there were buckets around the perimeter.. she got close enough..stuck her head in a bucket..i laughed and she slipped from my hand...she ran around wih the bucket on her head..sent the other dogs beserk.......we were asked to leave...lmao
Yes! And they don't go outside- too many hunters like to practice on them...
LOLOL, Rolin!
Planning on it, when I have the money. One of the females is fixed, the other we haven't been able to take care of yet.
Oh, lovely, so you have "kitty chorus" like I do from time to time.....
Haha. The "kitty chorus" is coming up soon, I think.
We call it "burbling" or "having the burbles"....
But we only have eunichs in our harem.....
That's definitely what it sounds like. Eesh!
Male cats can father sooooo many kittens - and, of course, they are much harder to entice inside (and can spray as well)
I can do the most amazing inpersonations of cats in heat....
now that's a strange chatter to come in on......
A dubious talent
The males do like to prowl. In the process of taming one right now, though. Hi Blaze! :P
LingMAO!!!
We just rescued a lovely Tom from near death...to the tune of $300....
Hello to all... or should I say Meow !!
Good morning everyone
Morning Daily!
Hello, Blaze! And I should say, g.night! I have stayed up too long!
Howdie!
Need any clues b4 I go?
good morning everybody:)
I have a cat acquired from the Cats' Protection League - very friendly to people but hates other animals.
Jai! It's still morning, though! Just very, very early morning!
Evening or Morning all
That's the problem we're having with the two indoor cats right now. They refuse to get along. They've even divided the house in half.
Hi F!
Hello...and Good-bye! Have fun with this puzzle!
morning matty, good grid today albeit rather large.
Bye Jai!
I've got 129 - I have the nine, but still need two of the eights.

112 to go, got the 9 and missing 2 x 8 too! I have the in8 & p8 what have you got matty?
I have the same two eights, sadly LOL!
Jai can you tell us the 1st 2 letters of the 8's we are missing but no clues just yet thanks
se 8/45 & pe 8/45 (or pa?)
I have one of the pe8/45...
Thanks Eut
There's a pe8 and a pa8.

ty :)
hi, could someone give me a hint for the 9? ta!
Fi - have you found the pa8 yet?
In 9 - Means to come between.
Fraid not, got caught up with phone call
thank you Euterpe...got it.
cheers!
Welcome!
I've got the pa7/32 - is the eight related to that at all?
wow got all the b's is that good!!! morning all x
Ugh, I haven't got anything over a 5 in the pa dept Morning M3, the b's are nice today.
There are two pa 7/32's. One is plural of pa 6/21, and the other you can plural to get the pa8/45.
I'm missing one b. Those last two eights are baffling me still as well.
Oh. I only have the plural of the 6/21
mitch build on yourpa 5 fo a 6 & 7
how many a*s?
14 a's
cheers chuck
Good morning all.
Morning Haz.
This looks like a benevolent grid - or are appearances deceptive?
I'd say it's pretty benevolent!
Morning Haz Babble had a bit of a hi-cup there! Good grid today, so far.
Technical problems with the site?
It threw up a couple of error messages so I had to refresh but seems OK now.
Yikes. I had that happen to me yesterday.
that happens to me all the time. !!
It had seemed to be operating quite smoothly - remember how often it crashed in the early days of the new layout?
Oh yes, how quickly one forgets.
I have got so intent on not typing words into the chatbox, that today I keep typing the chat into the word box!!!
And remember how we all protested at the new layout? Have you come to terms with the changes now?
Still preferred the way the chat log was before
F I R E W O R K S
Congrats ARB!
Congratulations ARB - now the fireworks ARE a good side of the new layout!
Congrats ARB
Me too, FMitch :)
This is a fun grid -- not too many wierd words -- or is it that I'm becoming more used to wierd words???
weird or wierd?
Hi Dianne, which bit the log layout or the paranoia LOL?
Both look strange
Speaking of paranoia, no return visits from loopy lupine?
Soooo funny FMitch - I typed my answer to you in the "add word" box. So I guess I was inadvertently referring to both!
Not so far, under any pseudonyms!
Happy days!
Got the day off and it a nice big grid :-) today I might even get fireworks for the first time since the world cup started!!
Lol Dianne!!! Morning KateW

It is an easy grid compared to some.

Helps to have a nice smattering of vowels and an s.

Bye M3.
Time for me to take a back seat with 89 left to find. Happy Babbling.
Have a good day FMItch - did you find the pa8?
I could not sleep, so now I have fireworks....LOL
No not yet but I will dig the little blighter out at some point.
Morning all! The first 70 went quickly - how many more am I looking for (besides that pa8, which I'm hunting down now)?
244
It's plural part of a horse's foot between fetlock and hoof. Structured as a combination of history and a popular babble fish.
Fish? Bird, I should have said.
Magic thanks Haz, as an ex horse owner as soon as you said it I saw it.
Glad you got it!
Isn't anyone going to say, "yay!" for me? :o(
Ahhhh, the babble bird gave it to me - thx, haz
Congrats Katrine, sorry missed you coming into the log!
Sorry - had to scroll back to find your post! Congratulations!

having some trouble with the i's...
I don't know why they don't allow 'internet'!
I've only got 5 of the 15 so we're probably in the same boat.
it's a weird letter to start words with i guess.
the p's took me all of five minutes, on the other hand
they're all in- words, several of them plurals so not too hard once you get into them
i just hit a stride with them, thanks :)
Hello Everyone!!
Hi MrP!
Hello mrpresident - nice to see you!
morning mr p:)
Hello Haz, amanda marso et al! nice to see you all too!!
Hello, Mr. P. We were wondering why the word "internet" is not an acceptable word....
Are you still enjoying country living or have you returned to the city?
Wow, you're right, it's not! That is truly odd
that is too funny!! it is a word but it isn't in the dr_god dictionary... that is just amazing!!
I know- I think it is really bad when a word like "unthink" is a word, but not "internet".
Haz, I got home today!! Flew in at lunchtime! back to my wonderful house! and my 100Mbps!
Well, it sounds as thought you're glad to be home again. I'm sure lickety is pleased as well.
Everyone, I have an announcement.... Lickety just got his university degree in Bachelor of Computing, majoring in Systems Development... Distinction!!
Excellent - my congratulations!
Congrats to Lickety!!!!! $%$%$%$%$%$%BOOM!! BANG!! Hpooray!
Woo! Congrats to Lickety!
wooohoooo for lickety!!!!
I have just spent half an hour crying! It is wonderful as it has taken him 9 years part-time and he did it all through my illness and bringing up the kids too! It is an amazing acheivement!
That's tremendous and you have every right to be proud of him. He's obviously a man of many talents.
Congrats Lickety!!!!
Can anyone clue the two eights I don't have - I'm missing the se and the pa
se8 is a place you park your ship - compound word
pa8 - a name relating to horse anatomy. Combine part of history with a frequently babble bird and pluralise.
Give him my best...I want to finish my degree soon...a dream of mine, so I know how importsant it must be to you!
thank you all for your wishes and congratulations, I will pass it on to him and thanks again!
That's the one, Haz
I had those two eights, what are the others matty?
mrpresident - my daughter graduated from university last week and it was a proud day for me, even though things had run smoothly for her. You'll be on cloud nine when Lickety graduates.
Need to find the se 8... There's also an in8 and a pe8
Oh Haz! I wish we were going to the ceremony, but it is 1,200km away and he would rather have a big party at home with his family around him... I am going to rent the robe and cap and insist he wear it to bed for a week though!!!
Congrats to your daughter too!! I know how wonderful that feels for you!
pe 8 buils on pe4/5, pe 6/21
se 8 places to park your ship
Make sure he gets that robe and cap for photographs! Wearing it to bed.......?

I'm back - had to break off to watch Klinsmann's resignation press conference
The number on the letter?

down the letter
kinsmann?
244 words total.
The numbers on the letters are just like in Scrabble. They determine how many points each word is worth.
Klinsmann, the German Football teams coach
what quoth said
aha ok, gracias
ahhh, thanks Quoth, now I don't have to google, or go to CNN
de nada!
do you speak spanish??? LOL
hi everybody!
Lol, no. I just know a few words. Not enough to carry on a conversation, though. I can basically count and say hello/goodbye. :P
jajajajaja ok
Hi CLM!
Haz, I am new at this....what list are you referring to and how do I find it...
Lickety's Babble Clues, there's a link to it at the bottom of the page. Where it says: Friends of Babble.
and I'm off again, bbl to finish
Thanks, Euterpe
Welcome. It's a lot of help when you get stuck!
Hi, everyone. I am Buttonman and I upgrades to pro yesterday. I understand the stats at the bottom but where do you get the two letters and the stat combined....such as en 5/10?
I get it usually from Lickety's page. In the example you gave, the en would stand for the first two letters of the words, the 5 for the total number of letters, and the 10 for the total number of points that word is worth.
Thanks!
So in your example, the word starts with En, has 5 letters, and is worth 10 points.
No problem. :)
Euterpe, just found the list and thanks a bundle!
jajajaja i puts word that i don't know what they meants LOL
Glad I could help!
Haha! We all do, masfalda!
but U speak english!!!! LOL
Some of these words don't seem like English sometimes! You definitely get to learn a lot of words by doing this. I can't imagine how hard this would be not speaking English as a first language!

It may be about time to add "internet" to the dictionary...
*slaps self with W6*
mam20... how is it possible it is not valid???
don't worry about it sprite. i did something similar last night, when talking about the icon theme, and didn't even realize theme was in the grid.
care to use my earrings sprite? hehe
That explains it, weever is already a plural so adding an S makes no sense
lol evanadine :)
...! blimey, Enable must be programmed by Luddites : )
I dunno, mam... we wouldn't want to accept just every slang term that might not stick around, eh?
Doh sorry I done it again grr.
Thanks Quoth, I feel a little bit better now ;)
Glad to help :D
I'm sure whatever stupid we6/39 fish has made a much greater impact on humanity ...
so far, my phantom words are torrent/torrents
Those fish are the ones who INVENTED the internet. Didn't you know?
My kids are in the grid. Te7/28
mine are opera and titbit
I think so, Vicuna. And now they boycot internet because it isn't called W6net.
Thanks sprite.. I saw that earlier and forgot to type it in . hehe.

in6 if you get the word, you'll in6 it in to the space
got that one quoth, it's the 6/21 I am missing
I think that's the 6/18 Qouth, the 6/21 is the part of the foot she'll mash in the dance floor if you get too frisky....
oh, ty brandy!
Heh - Oh yeah... better at words thank maths :o) - What Brandyjack said
ty quoth
i want to shuffle the letters around so i can make veneer

neer
...duck!
sorry
aloha duck....
...or nay, nay, thrice nay as Mr Howerd used to say ; )
well you could of used a word thats in the dictionary Raygoddes!!!!!
and I thought it was a Hawaiian goose! Hi everyone.. looks like fun today!
i know!
LOL
it's the ne 4/4 after the tides
little bit of mango salsa and they'll both taste the same...
...double duck! ; )
tides, aloha duck, and the butterfly catcher are the 3 ne4/4's
what? no volcano? (close, though)
i take that back, tides isn't a 4
but, the aloha duck is still the one following the tides. Where it makes it's home is the next one, and then comes the butterfly catcher.
i can't get the alohaa duck clue, am i stupid?
Raygoddess, the word starts from the bottom right N if that helps...
think of the sound european police and ambulance make..... And no, you are not stupid. That clue is more for those of us who have encounter the thing in past puzzles. Just like the Hawaiian white guy 'haole'....
got it , sorry I am dull today
no, raygoddess... once you get this, you will spot it lots of future grids... (-:
Hi Babblers :)
Incredible, the myriads of completely useless words we learn from babble.
hi, faerie..
...except the volcano. I ALWAYS miss the volcano. Evidently i'm not destined to be a vulcanologist...
Hi Faerie...
{{{{{{faerie}}}}}}
The vulcano is in practically every grid, so of course you miss it when it is missing :)
{{{{Shorty}}}} Hi!!!!
ok, i am storing it away for future reference... but i am confused... after the duck word there's an ne5/10, i thought it would be the plural, but it isn't...
hi sprite.. I DO miss that volcano!
hi faerie! Raygoddess if it's any consolation -I must have entered that word 20 or 30 times since last Oct. & I still always have to wait for a clue!
OMG {{{{ANJ}}}} HI!!!!!
Hi faerie!

Hi Sprite !!
Brandyjack how ya doing?
Snowy love the icon Hon :)

Diamonds ewww just something else to clean lol, Hi everyone!!
Diamonds ewww just something else to clean lol, Hi everyone!!
I want the REAL THING
If 'overt' would be in the grid, would it be a valid english word? Or is it only dutch?
howdy, M3
ya, but you only have to clean it once.
A family friend has just had an op to remove those. He's just spent the night covered in maggots to cleanse the wound. I kid you not... : s
Diamonds ewww just something else to clean lol, Hi everyone!!
just before you sell it.....
I'll take the Diamonds that M3 doesn't want
BJ LOL
LOL Anj! I know the feeling - having said that he's just made a cup of tea so life isn't all bad! BRB
Clean diamonds with maggots? Now that's something.
Overt is a normal word as far as I know Sprite...
Thanks, Anj!
I've bought several diamonds from pawn shops so BJ you are correct LOL
the pe8/45 anyone?
the one who bugs you, raygoddess
RayG, builds on the pe6/21 - to annoy someone incessantly
First time in my life I hear myself say I want 'perverts'.

bye raygoddess
bye raygoddess
could i get a clue for the or 4/4 and the ov 7/56 please?
omg, we are in trouble. I just read the words "no idea where to find them" from SPRITE! If she can't, nobody can :)
se5/10: hot shining objects in the sky, change vowel + another vowel se5/10: first 3 letters are the same + first 2 letters of fatigued.
buttonman - ov7 -opp of under & opp of old
ch1212: :P !!
sprite, do you have the re4/5 that refers to what happens when you don't make car payments?
..Man! That's a favourite flick of mine : )
Yes, got that one, thanks though :)
ok
*promises herself she can use lickety's list if she can't find the last 4 in 10 minutes*
sprite do you have the 2 p's that sound like a minister?
they are a 6/7 combo
Lol, the constantly annoying ones? (sorry, couldn't resist)
no, but change the first vowel in those
I think so... Pa6/21, 7/32, 8/45 and 7/32 combo?
Can I get a clue for the first se 5/10? I just can't see it.
I was thinking just the pa 6/21 and pa 7/32 but clearly you have (as usual) surpassed my best thinking! :D
snowy, I don't get it...I have the first four letters of the ov opposite of under but i don't get the rest!
se5/10: hot shining objects in the sky, change vowel + another vowel se5/10: first 3 letters are the same + first 2 letters of fatigued.
buttonman, if you didn't buy it used, it must be ***
Buttonman, put the opposite of old on the end of the ov word. It's ridiculous, but it works.
button: those first 4 letters + happy *** year.
Oh - i'm so slow replying! Hi Haz

Euterpe: perhaps this: fabulous, great, outrageous, S....tional!
That did it ch1212. Thanks!
So, 'internet'. How is this not a word?
It just wasn't coming to me. LOL
Gotta love those moments.
!! you're right parsec --- how wonderfully ironic!!
Well my son is hoem for a month so won't have his littlies until a week after we get back & my daughter is a teacher do won't have hers until Sept so we will get a good break this summer.
parsec! Now that is a lonnnnnng time ago! Yes, enable hasn't come out of the dark middle ages, I fear. No internet.
20 to go...gotta take a break. BBL : )
But...how can one live without internet?
later Anj
i'm missing 4 I words. can i start by asking for the second in 6/18?
Ergo: enable is NOT alive.
goodo morning.
today we will fiind out if it
goodo morning to you too dorens!
We used to manage without calculators! But that was in the olden days when everything was black and white.
enable is disabled
hi dorens
featherbee: it is like the one before, put in (!) another consonant.
it's possible to spend only 15 minutes here...and have the self-control to walk away no matter what
I think enable is dyslectic as well.
LOL Haz -I can remeber then too!
no, dorens. It is not. (I say flatly) :)
Sure it is, dorens. Only not for you, lol.
dorens, you need me to boot you out again at a certain time?
haha///my reputation is at stake...at 10:20, i will leave
yes, feather...you are very helpful that way....
nor for me, for that matter :)
LOl Dorens, I popped in an hour or so ago to check how many words there were today!...............................

SHOOT
I still need the second ro5/16 and the ro5/5 please anyone!
oh tiny is a wonder of entertainment!
lol praes
thank you tiny :)
hi and bye
Why can't I have internet????!!!!
The internet is only an illusion, apparently. :P
cause the PHANTOM says so
yw and cause no one can Becca it is not in dictionary
Replace the last letter of that word with a vowel and you have in8/40 (compensation)
It's compensation for not being allowed internet - that's not what it means!
Thanks, Haz, that makes me feel better
both ro 5/16s are the the same as 2 of the prs (one 5 & one 6 ) buttonman -just take off the p
ro5/16 - another name for a dog
the other ro5,16 change only the last letter
Button - 2nd ro5/16 - classic dogs name or car or someone who walks around a lot
ne5/10? it's eluding me.
(4 minutes left dorens!)
plural of bird nursery, feath
andthanks
thanks for the clarification, Haz -- I was racking my brain trying to figure out a word that meant compensation ... indemnity? insurance? :d
oops, ok, how about the first 5/10 then? i have the other
ne5/10 it's an anagram of re5/10 - payment for a house
ty. silly word!
Good Morning, all. I've been sitting here trying to see how many words I can get before caving in to look at the list.
Good morning CiociaJudy
StephieC and FMitch, thanks got both!

I refreshed and it still says Nan + hours left
Ooooooh, got that too, now..ty Haz
pe8/45 - someone who is a nuisance, keep adding to the original pe4/5
second is think of pattern and change third letter
pa8/45 - part of horse's anatomy between fetlock and hoof. Combine when history happens with sea eagles (er4/4)
got the nuisance..seems I had part of the words, but not all of them
that with the two haz gave you are the four you need

thanks to you both.
You're welcome!
i think I should beddybyes right now before my eyes explode.. night all
Good night Misu. Exploding eyes are not a good look.
liana, maybe the back end of Pennsylvania, if the state was a ship?
sweet dreams, misu
is anyone having difficulty entering the word for in8/40?
hehe.. no, especially not wehn I was up til 4am playing babble this morning!
I'm certain I have the correct word but it will not accept it
tiny..my pseudo daughter in law is coming home from Australia tomorrow~~ Am watching her two boys. Been gone for 3 weeks and is gaga over NZ and Australia!
You'll have difficulty if you think the in8 word ends in t. It ends in a vowel!
she chaperoned some HS students..
where was she in Aus
thanks haz, it was driving me crazy
flosey, in8/40 is one held in prison without trial.
Glad you got there!
all over. Even slept out with the ABOS...
she is in sydney right now.. Was snorkling the great barrier reef too.
did she go to the Gold Coast
hmmmmm..i will have to look at her itinerary...I do know she went to some Opal mines..or something.
hah! enable, an online dictionary, won't accept in***net. good grief.
bonkler we were laughing about the irony of that earlier :D
yes that is out west if she went to the Gold Coast she was half an hour from me
I just typed whole of sentence into word box
okay, Tiny..she went to Ahitsunday Islands..snf Rockhampton,also Brisbane..thats all I know
well Brisbane is 45 minutes the other way from G C
my mom and I always dreamed of going to Australia together..but she passed away years ago, and cant find anyone to go with me now..Bwwaaack, bwaaaack, chickens!!

Congrats Jakes-mum!!!
yay, jakes-mum!
Hi, Aloy, how r u? Hooray for Jakes-mum!
**~~**~~**FIREWORKS**~~**~~** for jakes-mum
Wahoo Tiny!
You have to look at the positives
Last year was my medical year, Tiny. I'm hoping this year is better.
Congrats, Jakes-mum!
I agree Tiny. There are many things to be grateful for.
I have said that for last three years now they have found out I have diet controlled Diabetes
wtg, Tiny!
But I am still standing and breathing
distracted now... a lovely young hawk perched on a branch outside my window..
oooooo Aloy. Wish I could see that.
awe how lovely for you to see them that close
grabbling binos to i.d.
spots on the wings
phone call. bb
Hey I just got to 101 words
petit
good for you tiny
OOPS I typed in the wrong box
and CiociaJudy just gave you 102 :D
had that one
hadn't got that one ciocia, ty
could give me one I dont have LOL
just gorgeous.. it has been preening itself, still there! A young red-shouldered hawk
aloy, if you have a digital camera you could snap a photo and share!
we see mainly buzzards
awe how beautiful
that would be good
Sorry about that. I thought I was typing in the add word box. Can't do two things at once!! ROFL
I have a digital camera, but it does not have a telephoto lens; I gave up on taking bird pics..;-(
ah well, your descriptions are also pretty visual
Awesome Aloy. Wish I had a wooded area around my house. I have bird feeders, though.
the hawk is on the top of a dead tree.. still preening, as the wind ruffles its wing feathers
You should be a writer, Aloy.
sorry to interrupt, but hello again. any clues for the 8s or 9 please?
we all wish we could see it now LOL
ty, Ciocia.. I do love words (ergo, I am here!)
Woo! Fireworks! :D
Congrats to Euterpe!
if two people are having a fight you will in******* to stopit
well done....
thanks, Tiny.
hurray for euterpe.. back to the grid for me! (still keeping an eye on that hawk)
the in8/40 is a term describing people held in prison without trial -- also describes what Japanese-Americans were called when the U.S. put them into camps during WWII.
Thanks, Tiny. Didn't have that one!!
congrats euterpe!
internet is not accepted????
**~~**~~**FIREWORKS**~~**~~** for Euterpe
neither did I Tiny -- thanks! Congrats Euterpe!
Congrats Tiny!!!
Thanks! :)
oOOPP s - never mind Tiny.
Sorry...had a phone call, am back now AND I have fireworks!
WooHoo Katrine!!
well thats strange wonder why?
thanks ch1212 - got it.
way to go katrine!
**~~**~~**FIREWORKS**~~**~~** for Katrine my daughters name is Katrina
what's strange, shorty? Like your icon, btw
thanks,that internet is not accepted
Yes, what irony, given this is an internet game!
Hi all - back to finish. Katrine, didn't you finish hours ago?
se 8?45 is a place boats go to
true,true
Yes, I was on earlier this morning, and asked Mr. President why that was so- and he said "Hunh! That's strange!" too!
Tiny, you're getting me there. Thanks!
pe 8?45 is some one who is always being a nuisance
ANother one from Tiny. thx
ty ty Tiny. Do you have the last 8? please please please
erns
add an 'e' at the end, too, Tiny.
Yes, amandcath, I finished hours ago, but I didn't want to be blatant and say, "Well, I'm finished and am here to give clues!" but I gues that is what I should have said!
in 8/40 is in6/18 one wh works in a hospital +two vowels
thanks charm
I think you already gave that one, Tiny.
that's a new one for me Tiny. Never heard of that word.
Oh go on, be blatant Katrine!
41 left and need a little break - bbl
see ya later ch1212
later ch1212. thanks for the help
LOL< amandacath! I will be from now on! Besides, all I got at 3:30 in the morning was ignored by the British LOL
in 8/40, pa 8/45, pe 8/45, se 8/45 that is the four which one do you need charm
the pa8/45 please?
thanks Tiny
don't usually jump in here, but something very odd: I've got a 9 letter word (in*) which we all know and love -- and are using right now -- that isn't being accepted as a word. Is this right?
Wal-paper hanger+en + plural
think of patterns but change third letter
yes greenery
greenery -- if that word is 'internet' you are right :)
although being mathmatically challenged I just realized that word only has 8 letters.
As I said, I told Mr. President himself, and he is going to look into it...
yep, greenery that's right, or wrong, depending on how you look at it. Strange, isn't it?
okay, I was supposed to be taking a little break :D back later!!! (tears self away from keyboard)
Now, that's just perverse. Not accepting internet -- and you're right about the count. Sorry.
the pa 8/45 is plural of the pa 7/32 which has to do with the anatomy of a horse's foot... (I think.)
in is tb someone who tries to help in a fight yuo in*******
well, it could have been pl, IF it was accepted :-(
I suppose if one wanted to get technical, it could be said that it is the Internet- with a capital letter- and that maybe is why it is not included....but if unthink is a word, then "interente" should be, too....
ERSTE
I was really slow on the uptake on that pa! Thanks for all the clues.
that's internet....
oh
sometimes I think I should keep a running list of the words that enable SHOULD include, but then I wonder... what's the use?
Hi aloy!
howdy, amanda - wie gehts?
gut, danke! 'Cept I've got 65 words to go and don't want to go to the list yet...
I hit the list at 39 words to go, but it took me so long to get that far that I probably should have done so sooner.. (-: The hawk flew away, so now I'm down to 36..
Got the pa words Euterpe. Excellent clue. thx
ummm, the hawk?
what sort was it, Aloy?
yes, I was watching a young red-shouldered hawk that lit on a branch outside my window. Preened itself for quite a while... lovely sight..
hi ata! Ahh, that hawk!
I'm a bird nerd as well as a word nerd
har har!
I'm a bird nerd, too, Aloy.
Where do you live Aloy?
yay for bird nerds!
Ok all it is time for this little babbler to go to bed Hubby is whinging so Good Night all hop to finish tomorrow
nite Tiny.
thx for all your help Tiny. Nitey, night.
spend half my time in NE Ohio (where I am now) and half in SW Florida..
nighty night, Tiny!
I'm from PA. Do you keep a life list?
yes.. I think it has about 220 species listed
Is one of the v-words a strange one? The three I have are normal...
I can't remember how many I have. I think I hit 300.
wow..
yes, amanda--one is what you count at election time but delete the middle consonant
The vO you are missing rhymes with to4/4
hi amanda :)
That was it! Thanks Une - nice necklace!
es5/10: the smelly compound returns today!
:-D
what to word would that be?
Morning everyone..
hi everyone! what's the theme today?
hi leigh and TO.. jewelry?
hey, TO! jewelry!
Hi TO
back I am. The theme is jewelry, TO
Hi TO, leigh! I found a fish!
gee... i hate jewelry...never wear the stuff...
sore
Hmmmm...jewelry, is it? *wanders off*
I'm with you, TO -- I wear my wedding ring and that's about it.
oh jewellwey! *refresh*
yes but i am definitely KIDDING!
did I mention that u still can't quite make tsetse?
Oh! I am not :D
jewelry!
or presto, Uncagain! :-)
:D Good on BryanC!
bryan, LOL!!
had to go with Mr. T
we should definitely have a bling day!
yeah, 'bling-bling' would be a funny theme
i pity da fool who don't finish this puzzle!
what is the first ne 4/4 please x
ROFL BryanC
Zales doesn't have the ring I want anymore......this one will have to do for a pic.
got it lol
refresh!
the Hawaiian goose we always get, M3
Oooh, pretty ring, templeowl
i tried it on
seriously?
seriously. ross-simons.
Which o am I missing?
Wow. I too tried on this ring (the smaller one). My beloved and I designed them on the computer then had a jeweler make them out of white gold. The photo doesn't do them justice.
amanda, do you have three variations on "not closed"?
amandacath, do you have the o7?
it's truly slovely
ov7/56 too fresh
That's it, ch1212 - *goes hunting*
ch1212, same beginning plus not old
it's a bizarre word -- see gramma's clue, amanda. (I already had it, but thanks all)
oh that is just a stupid head word
That's ridiculous! Especially since it won't take e4/7+op4/5 - I tried. Also the neg.
yep, TO, it was greatly maligned earlier :-)
But thanks, just the same.
truth be told, une...i prefer the hand crafted in jewelry...i like your necklace
why isn't "internet" allowed?
oh please. INTERNET is not in the dictionary?
oh, me too, TO--I swoon at the artisan booths at our juried craft fairs
lol, carrie -- good timing
Hi everyone.......I've seen it all now.......the word internet is not acceptable!!!
The Internet is a name, isn't it?
remember, ENABLE is an OLD dictionary
I wonder if it's really internal-net?
Hi Flask1 -- your icon is beautiful.
means connecting networks
I'm still looking for the ov7 word - most fresh or something?
but a canary diamond? ans it's on sale, too!
oh thankyou ch1212
ov (what you bake in) plus not old
matty = opp of under + opp of old.
matty, it's ov4/7 + not old
my pic is now a looooong string of pearls one of my good friends got me for my birthday - they are so gorgeous and PINK!
ch1212, wrong ov4 :-)
did i hear there is a fish in this puzzle?
gorgeous indeed, ata!
yes they are o0
yes there is, TO!
Is there a U.K. version of Babble?
...but I only knew it was a fish after I looked it up
oops, you're right une -- sorry! Atalante, your pearls are gorgeous! TO picked out a ring she has tried on, and I'm using rings my beloved and I designed (photo doesn't do it justice). Wonder how many more of us are featuring our own stuff today?
LOL flask! there ought to be!
Oooh - and here I was looking for youth ;)
Mine is similar to what I hope to get as an engagement ring.
This is it, Flask1 - all English-speakers are united here
I love pearls cos I'm so allergic to most metals its really hard to wear much else!
what ring TO!
It would certainly make a big difference.....or...use a more UNIVERSAL dictionary!!
lovely, lee!
pretty, leighprefect! Btw, I laughed so much when I read your bio -- you could be a writer if the psychology doesn't work out ! :D
judy: i'm near philly where are you?
ch-Thank you. =)
wow. This is a fast one. 10 minutes and I've got 74 words.
I actually find the dictionary a bit UK-biased - there's an awful lot of Scottish words in it
TO, I'm about 90 miles northwest of Philly - Schuylkill Haven.
I like your rings, btw. Too square for me to wear, but they're great, and that's awesome that you designed those with your husband
Ah but wait till you get to those last few, KJS :) I've got 11 to go and just plodding, plodding
ah...the old pottsville-reading line?
thanks, leighprefect :) - we had lots of fun doing them. Each symbol means something to both of us.
Really? That's so neat..
You got in TO. I am working in Reading right now.
i lived in phoenixville when those trains ran
the 1st re5/18 please? (down to the dreaded r's!)
To heck with those rings; I went for a tiara. Just changed my icon.
found it. sorry/
pl of re4
re + not old
clue for the we 6, please
LOL CiociaJudy!! I agree!
thanks ch1212.
I'm on the list now, and I can't believe how many plurals I overlooked..
Hit 101. Going to check the list now.
that's the fish, M3 - misspelled cloth-maker
well i have 93 left and have slowed considerably
we 6/39 - different spelling of what people who use spinning wheels are
oh my first fish im so proud lol
thanks ch1212 for the we....
I'm trying to eat some pudding so I'm way back in the pack..
Or WII get it ? lol
thx for the we ch1212
y/w
time to throw lunch in the microwave. bb
bye judy
Afternoon all......How are you feeling today leigh?
Hi Caitlyn!
Hi, Caitlyn. Pretty okay. I slept horribly last night, but it wasn't because of the pain. In fact, I don't know why I slept that bad. But I just had a Jello pudding for lunch. I'm surviving. =) How are you today?
i have a taste for fish now, clue for the first pa 7 please x
sn4/6 please?
Im ok..just sent granchild no5 home so ready to have a sit down!!
s + tip of a pen
There is only one possible sn4/6
one of the pa 7 is your pa 6/21 with a consonant at the end
I typed that in and typed it in and typed it in. NOW it works. go figure.
Hehe. Well that's a very neat icon you've got. Yours, or just one you grabbed?
yeah thanks ch1212
rore
wow charm - i got 10 words from your asking for the one!
glad to help, TO. lol
Borrowed from google!! Have to return it tomorrow!
Well and good enough. =)
twelve, actually!
twelve, actually!
but i still have not found the fish!
i'm presuming the fish is the weird w word, or is there another?
the 1st st6/27?
thanks, just monkeyed it.
atalante there all fish worthy for me lol
te 6/18 that follows the te 5/10 (bird plural) and right before the te 7 (which I assume will be the plural)
never mind -- found it!~!! Done!!!
yay for ch!
woot!
ch1212, te 6 and 7. if you have horrid children you could say they are little te...
yay, ch1212
thanks all --- any clues needed before I go??
Congrats ch
Woohoo ch

Hi movieman

hi movieman!
*yawn*
goot 2 p 8
time for a nap, Leigh?
Prolly, yeah. =)
pa 8 part of a horse
se6,7 compound words for ships coming in
Hello everyone
se7, 8 I mean and hi everyone!
Hi Becca
hi muse, becca
is that pa 8 p + as6/18?
think so
all right. later everyone. Have to get my Monster Baby from camp.
Sure is TO
in 8/40 - what a Japanese-American was called during WWII when he/she was put in a camp pa 8/45 - take your 4/5 (before now), add an e, then add an r, then another consonant, then plural (that's lots of words there) pe 8 - one who bugs you constantly se 8 - combo word - the ocean + where boats go
Bye Charm!
bye charm
Hi muse Bye charm
nice ring, leigh... did you get engaged?
make it plural
well then i have two of four... : /
No, not yet. But that's the ring I want!
that should give you all the 8's plus some
hhehee
poor guy!
Second ap 5/12 anyone?
Temple Owl, that pa 8 is a weird word, not the as 6 you are thinking of, but close. Think of a minister, then add a consonant to it, then plural
WOW i have just had a bunch of hunky men run past my window (training for football i think)
ty i have them now...phantom word "entree"
a + where a boat goes when it comes to shore
Nah, it's not so bad! The one in my icon now is 1,499. The one I really want is platinum, and that's only 1,999! =)
Thanks ch
leighprefect, $500 amortized out over a lifetime is pennies, right? :D
thanks ch1212, i trhought i tried that i 8 last night
gee...mineis on sale now for just under 16,000...
1999? I was thinking 19,999?!?!?! My old roomie just got engaged. 1.5Carats with side stones. $15G's total.
wowsers.
nrkii, you around?
Presicely, Onyx!
Got the 8's, thanx ch......
walnut- That's NUTS. I could never do that. They might be nice, but this one fits me just fine...
y/w mm
And I didn't mean Onyx, before, I meant ch....sorry!
mine was all of 20 points ...
words every where this puzzle is fun!
Save the other 14,000 in my opinion, and use it towards a house or something!
True Onyx, but i've run out of them. I'm stuck!
precisely leigh i didn't want to be the one to say it
Yeah, I agree with you leigh! although, there are quite a few high maintenance gals out here in the bay area!
I'm with you, leigh! A rock's nice and all, but that's a bit OTT
hey watch it about the bay area girls
btw, why is internet not a word?
tahts what we are on right now so that we can play babble!
ironic, huh walnutchen?
well mine didn't do much for me in the divorce...i guess it's all relative...if the guys's lawyer or in that salary range...
ch1212: yeah...
well, I've got to get some work done ... happy hunting!
Bye ch!
bye, ch!
Bye ch
see ya ch!
onyx - u know its true! the gals in the bay area gets their pick of the guys around.... naturally, the high number of guy/gal ratio makes the competition more intense.
anybody have a clue?!?!?!
I'm missing an ap5/12. It's one of the two that come together. Help please!!
hm...maybe i should move there...
thus, the outrageous rings, nice cars...(from the guys - all to get the gals!)
What do you need a clue for chrisp?
TO- I was just thinking that....
i guess i travel in different circcles
for the second as5/12, Rough; rugged; harsh; bitter; stern; fierce. [Archaic]
it still won't take ents
or just change the last letter on the other one! : D
well, I give in. 48 left, but I'm going home now. Bye all
a+ p*** in a storm steph
TO - did you give a clue for as5/12 or ap5/12? I need ap5/12.

I was talking about my necklace and used a word to describe it
stid, do you use "time out" chairs with the kids? LOL
oh -- that is an honest mistake. So what's the problem, leigh?
(actually, Judy, I had a timeout chair for ME. sat down with a book and earplugs and let them go at it)
ooooo great idea! I'll pass that along to my sister!
*peeks out of the pillows* She, um...she....she... *makes a face and gets all red* She said a babble word!

lol sparky! ok, things on forks, what cans are made of, colors. how's that for ya?
I am missing an sp5/12 from where there are 3 sp5/12s in a row. I have 2 of them. I have what I did with my money and the thing produced by plants. Thanks.
Minski - hockey, football, baseball etc are all ?
Minski have you got the sp4/5 cos there is a pl of that
I have those 2. It is above that one.
the ti's before the "tatas" start lika tata, all have to do with calibrating/alt spellings. too.at
Minski, it's a weird one meaning to foretell--but it sounds kinda like what you do to a cat to keep her from reproducing.
Its the one I clued then Minski
not done, unfortunately! I'm only really getting into now after having to fight my way through the Canterbury crowds all morning!
THanks. I was being dyslexic and switching the last 2 letters of the sp4 so I couldn't figure out how to pluralize it. Got it.
i have 12 ti words before breasts, am i missing one? it is making me crazier
...and as long as we're talking about the sp's, I'm missing one of the last two 6/21s--I have the plural one.
Baby and I have a million errands to run and of course it is pouring. To make things worse I'm pretty sure that our raincoats are in the car which is parked in the street at the end of our driveway.
oh, that stinks minski!
sp + r4/4
sp6/21 - take the sp5 that means what you did with your money and add a consonent to the middle of the word.

Ah well pure - babble is full of such words and as a rule we don't type them in the pog if at all possible
now lola: you cannot have anj and jack, too!
pure, if you click the ? beside it, you will get several definintions. But please don't type words into the log. (At least, not on purpose!)
why not??
*log Ok typing is falling apart.
ok well it isnt a word
by dictionary terms
I keep typing the same words over. I have to quit! Besides, I think I have scurvy.

Hi everyone -- just wanted to mark a personal best on Babble today -- I have been only playing during my breaks at work (without a list or the log) and have only 79 left to go -- I will be back later tonight to finish with help from both!! -- {{*Hugs to all*}} Bye now -- have to go back to the shop! :)

*pouts a little but sees temple's point*
bye, woulfie!
Thats OK seeing as you only just stated. I would reccommend that you have a look at Angelsong's lin in Friends of Babble at some point 'cos there is lots of hints and tips in there
hi GW! bye GW! : )
Hi and Bye GW
But what it really comes down to, pure, is never look for logic in the choice of words allowed or disallowed. We are all continually baffled by the Enable dictionary used to generate the acceptable list.
...hey, give me some kohl, black hair dye, some beads and a tricorn hat and I can be Jack : )
awww....okay judy : )
lola - he wont finish my excel spreadsheet for me so I am going to have to take a back seat and do it myself.
*curls up on a couch*
no kidding just found like 2 more words that have no meanings
*gets to work on Anj with eye-liner....and a BIG smile* : )
Lola, the "more mature" women need some cabin men too! LOL
*curls up on a lap*
fmitch....the cabin boys are young, dumb and beautiful i'm afraid : )

Fedge. re 5/16?
Pure, in8/40 - someone who is confined, usually in a cell. Can also be amedical person..
happy anniversary to everyone.... it is nice to see that we are still baffled by babble after this year....
Why? No one else is . .
good point
ya got a point there Tor.
re5/16 - take your cat back to the doctor?
in9/72 - step in to help/save a situation
Thanks, vic. Never would have gotten that!
=O

lola, heck yes! TO, well, its about seven inches tall, dense, dark, and lucious. It's baked with Guinness, so the cake isn't overtly sweet, just decadent. Then the frosting is made with Bailies... Last year on my birthday, we got whole one... I had the most awesome week of cake consumption ever.
and the flavoring?
mmmmm...rich dark cake with bailies frosting..... : )

oh golly i'm afraid i haven't anything traditional and english.
lol you're not meant to - you're american!
yeah turns out the cumberland is kinda weird. i don't recommend it.
the first room they put us in had no AC
they hadn't asked us for a credit card imprint but we couldn't use the phone at all or the internet without doing that
LOL! the Dixie Chicks complained about no AC at the Natural History Museum!
so where shall we meet - at the hotel still?

sounds good! hopefully my neck will behave. i slept on it funny last night and it's quite painful now.
i've asked dr. g for private chat - he said he thought it would be over-kill
owie!
Do you know why HK can't drive?
no way. it wouldn't be over-kill. some of us (ie me!) only come in to chat nowadays! lol!
?
it would be perfect!
uh oh, troll alert
babbler - that's what i told him!! we exchanged a few e-mails on the topic - but he was rather adamant
not too sure about that yet babbler, i think more age alert. some days it's better than others with that one.
doc is an adamant fellow
:'( we should beg and beg and beg. or just chat in the chat log and get lots of other people to beg on our behalf1
oh golly
i tried to argue the case for outside chat, i am not one to give up easily - alot of gaiming sites have it, it's a very nice feature - maybe if others asked too *hk crosses fingers*
ah, ok, featherbee. haven't been in for ages, so I don't know. : )
we'd be pseudo-trolls ourselves
ok laundry is going and coffee is brewing - anyone need clues - hi hursh & atalante
yes, if others asked too...?
hi saphyre, and everyone else
i know, it actually is a tough call with that one babbler!

not your birthday oggy? hope you aren't too tired (parties always make me a little exhausted)
ooh, are you an introvert on that thing stid?
my shepherd is sure he's a lap dog --- the little one thinks she's a guard dog...
VERY introvert, feather! scared to death of "real" people!
ginger- the pom -plays what i call 'the eek-eek game' she started it with our med. size rescue dog who is rather stoic to begin with - she just stands on her hind legs, puts her paws on the bigger dogs face & makes this god-awfull ee-eek screechy noise, like someone is killing her - it always freaks out the company, but it's pretty funnny
lol feather, yeah that's how the shepherd is too, a little lap dog :)
stid im not quite that old yet im only 53yr old
ha, me too! i hate making phone calls to people i don't know, like to make an appt, or ask a question of someone in a store
I didn't think you were oggy -- though I know your children are grown... it's hard to judge a person's age from the chat log.
the eek eek game, how funny!
Buffy, squeals rather frequently, but that's because the "galoot" keeps stepping on her. he's not much of a gentleman.
my children are 34,33 and 25. the other half is 57
so
people are always like, "is your dog okay?" -real concerned like, lol
can someone help me with the te 6/18 and te 7/28 combo ?
well I am glad I am not the only one, feather! It's embarassing explaining to people that I can't make phone calls but I can stand in front of a crowd and sing...
ok, i'm going to go pick up daniel's room and put his laundry away from earlier...earlier this week...
buffy is our female shepherds name !!!!
te 6/18: more te 5/10 (uptight), then "plural" sorta
i think i use up all my people time at school! i can be in front of 20 6 year olds without a problem, but ask me to say something at a faculty meeting? *shudder*
the 7/28 is the "the most" te 5/10
ok, bbl
the second te combo is what yopu call people who blow up trains & twin towers
I do people in small numbers best -- three or four adults is about my limit for conversation.
see ya later feather - fun racing, as always :)
the German Shepherd is "Lucky" -- named himself. It was the only thing he responded to when he came to us.
later feather!
lol stid - that's how our neighbors dog got her name too - honey!
hi all!
just joining chat with 31 to go...
hiya nrkii!!!!!
oh no- i'm so sorry stid - i need the ones on the bottom -after the plural of the birds.....
hiya nrkii!!
hi nrkii! how's the eyeball?
can anyone give me a hint for my last 31 words? :)
my but are we the royal bunch today?
LOL nr!
1st st6/27 please
how the eye?
stid, it's okay -- I went to the doctor and they said it has healed but will keep bothering me a few more days
nrkii's hint: run away very fast!
nrk - they are the ones that you can't see
LOL... okay, I am glad you went to have it checked out. did they give you something for the discomfort?
peri - a man's name with an extra vowel
what happened to your eye - scratched cornea?
st 6/27: a man's name with a double middle vowel
yeah helen,scratched cornea
thansk stid, got it with your clue
stid, I told the doctor I didn't need anything for the discomfort -- alleve is working
I only went because I wanted to be sure it wasn't going to get infected
smart nrikii!
nite all. its bedtime.
first st5/12 please
okay -- good for you, finding something that works! I don't like eyeball things. my eyes are my primary way of understanding....
debb, usually I am not that way -- but eye stuff scares me
st 5/12 is plural the things that go up to a doorway.
good night oggy! sleep well!
I fell a couple years a go and I swear I tore ligaments in my foot, but never went to the doctor -- just limped for 4 months
i couldn't agree more - eye things are scary
okay, I think I'll grab the lickety list now... 30 to go
ouchy, nrkii! (but that's why I have crutches at home... so I don't have to do to a doctor so often)
2nd and 3rd st5/12 pleae
Hi, i'm back...anyone have a clue for the in 9/72 please...thanks
and have lost patience with monkey-typing same words over and over and over
i have 6 - bet you'll beat me nrkii :-) :-)
buttonman, to get in the middle of a dispute, perhaps
in 9: to get in the middle of an argument?
no, I'm always slow on last bunch
I have 24 and struggling with the S words at the moment
go debb go!
nrkii - i had that one time after a windy day - what really helped was an ointment they gave me to put in at bedtime, because overnight the eye would dry up & when i opened it first thing in the am, would reinjure the tear - did they tell you that?\
st 5 12 = throat infection
and then same but change the vowel
thanks nrkii
no helen, they said corneal abrasions heal within 24 hours, and they looked at my eye under a special light and said it had already healed -- they just want me to put drops in (regular drops) and I already do that
okay, taking a break. back in a while.
sys stid
one of my favorite words from one of my favorite Stephen Sondheim songs is in today's grid...
got the 9 thanks
from a song called "Not Getting Married", the line is "Perhaps I'll collapse in the ap4/5 right before you all..."

the other one is most uptight

Hi all, I need help with ov7,56 pls

the other te is the root of what you call people who blow up train & twin towers

i need a few se words: both 5/10's?
one of the se5 - think of your five se****. change the last letter to a vowel (and don't plural it)
se4/4 a letter + me/myself/*

Fireworks without a single request... there's a first! hello ladies who needs a clue?
I just examined the code and it looks like cut and paste error with a double h r e f = at the start of the line. Minor problem that I'm sure Angelsong will fix promptly.
yay bambam!!!
WTG Bambam
Men.

Hi Minveryork
we 6/39 please
I showed my house for the first time today
By the way congratulations to the finishers! Hooray!
aknitter, sounds like one who makes cloth
I was able to get 161 words by myself! Now need clues
on a loom specifically
cool, got it ty :)
Ok I have to get out here I have glass to pack. Thanks everyone.
champagne and caviar for me.... 3 feral kids in coach for the wife.... hardly seems fair does it .... OH YEAAHHHHHH
see you faerie, you know we'd really help if we could!
I work hard, I deserve it.. **trying to justify it to himself**
what airline bambam?
later faerie, wish I really could be there. {{hug}}
way to go Min! ask away...
Singapore Airlines (along with Emirates the best I think).... Qantas is THE WORST (as are the American airlines!!)
they are the best, especially first class!
at least that's what i've read. haven't been on that carrier.
yes different class to the Aust/US airlines.... and Emirates is superb too. Last time I flew Qantas they charged me $250 excess for golf clubs and I swore I would never fly them again (unless I had no choice whatsoever)
The quality of an airline is directly correlated to political correctness I find
Continental (at least with a Guam or Hawaii based crew) has great Business First service.
i.e. the more PC the crappier they are! ** a very sexist chauvenist remark but every woman i know agrees **
i really liked 1st Class on Cathay Pacific also
my boss wanted to fire me cause he was booked on a flight to new zealand on quatas and the first class seats recline 180 degrees - but they're on a slight (i mean slight) slant - he had a FIT and was screaming - (i've been with him 18 years) -- AND he wanted a direct flight and the only other airline was air new zealand - who had no seats - and he knew all this - but he screamed and screamed like a madman - WHEW - glad i got that all off my chest!
first ti 5 please
what is his problem
yeah some of the western carriers have good Bizz/First but that's because they can roster the more cheerful staff there..... Qantas or United economy class you get the union-protected grumps
(sorry - quantas sets me off)
did you yell back at him?
Deb you said you were in the movie bizz..... sounds like a prima dona
nah, i just listened, thought about my paycheck, thought about how i babble all day and then watch the mets games and let him yell (i am furiously looking for another job)
Hi, all Makes me glad I hate to fly reading this chat, lol
in australia we say Qantas stands for Queers and Nerds Trained as Stewards (no offense to any gay people)
yes, i work for a producer -- such a prima dona .... i mean if the seats don't recline 180 degrees he can't fly - puh-lease! (and it's always first class) --
sounds like what we like to call a "total wanker"!!
aknitter, ti5 is ring worm
debb, now i know why you're looking for another job!
Can anyone remember TWA ? We used to say Try Walking Across
great fran, now the t box is gray
hi aussieme!
it's sad the stereotypes of these Hollywood types ring true.... like to hear a story about a really down-to-earth star... are there any? hahahah
Or Teeny Weeny Airways
Hi Fran
he's quite a character (i'm also attempting to write a book .... - i could fill volumes)
Or People's Express? I called them People's Distress
Lufthansa .... let us feel (or smtg else) the hostesses and nobody say anything!
few and far between !
BOAC..... Better On A Camel
US Air = US Scare
Bambam - John Wayne was a really down to earth star, he was a friend of mine
i flew to london on british airways and we had premiere coach tickets (still bus class and 1st ahead of us) and i thought i was a queen - it's just perspective.
those are funny!
Like that BOAC, Aussieme
those are really funny! boac
yes well legends like that don't need to prove themselves do they.... they don't make stars like that anymore!! maybe jack nicholson
why ty Ma'am !!
sorry, had to run some damage control again...
actually tom hanks is supposedly very nice
the doggies?
Stiiiiiiiiid !!!
i agree and i love your try walking across hehehehe
{{{{AUSSIEME!!!!!!}}}} ***Princess***
another guy who is good enough to not have to carry on
not doggies, dumb kid posted too much information on a public website (again)
how about meryl streep? i've always liked her... is she nice
we also worke with arnold on his last movie .... he was quite nice (politician even on the movie set) --
Meryl
Meryl is a doll
just talked to a guy who was on David Letterman and he said letterman is really nice
How goes it Stid ? All is well here..... Georgia is sleeping like mad, and she is soon going to be 7 weeks old
she's a class act i've heard - friend worked on a production with her and said she's just plain classy
She is so modest
She is brilliant.
I have a warm spot in my heart for BA, but I'll bet the UAE has a very posh airline. Evesdropping. Eveining all.
and how are you feeling? up and around and back to normal I hope... we are all healthy and enjoying the summer.
daybyday - are you meryl ? hehe (just kidding)
do you see the correlation..... John Wayne, Tom Hanks, Letterman... all people who are REAL stars and have nothing to prove... and they're nice people
aussie, that's growth spurt time! she's sleeping a lot getting ready to grow a couple inches overnight!!
and has an amazing sense of humor!
very very true words
Letterman isn't nice
She is 10lb 1 and a half ounces now
Meryl weighs more than that
how about Barbra Streisand (i could be the only one but i find her really hot)
my baby daybyday...lol
;)
really daybyday is he an acquaintence of yours?
that's getting big enough to not feel "fragile" anymore! I am so pleased she is doing well.
i've heard many diva stories about barbara ....
oh, oh, oh, I have always had a crush on David Letterman. I find him utterly hilarious. I think though that he is a dull person in reality.
nice stars 've worked with, sharon stone (funny as hell, no pretense at all, though she admitted she was sucked into the whole diva thing for years) susan sarandon (star or not completely down to earth and the ultimo test, her kids were polit, unspoiled and just good kids), richard dreyfuss (kept everybody from the lowliest cash extra to the director in stitches. lots of very nice actors out there and no shortage of wankers, just like real life
Nothing fragile about her now, she's a proper bully, kicks me and everything !!
sounds like banking bonkler!
hi bonkler! didn't expect to see you this time of day!
loooooove Susan Sarandon!
Well don't we know everyone
ah, a temper like her mother, I suppose...
glad to hear that about sharon stone, always thot she was a kick!
Melanie Griffin is Tippy Hedren's daughter
Yep, she has my temper alright..... but she is quiet like her Dad
hi all just popping in to grab a few words, saw the topic and piped up
Who is Melanie Griffin ?
hi. I was wondering if anyone else has this going on...I have completed all the S's on lickety, but my center s is indicating i need one more word
hm. quiet and a temper? sounds like a dangerous combo to me!
she's Don Jackson's ex
stew
emusing, try refreshing.
now with Antonio Bandmember

(swoon) Banderas -- good looking, great dancer and a nice voice too... (swoon)
emusing, you may have just missed inputting a word also
Who are you Madonna
banderas is drop dead gorgeous and a great actor too.
i double checked, and I will triple check.
Um, Antonio is old now.
i looove antonio! there haven't been any rumours of infidelity either, can he be that great??
That accent is fake.
duh. i didn't enter the 3rd sea word. but got the two bigger ones.
old? probably my age.
He's on the DL.
daybyday -- old is a relative term. to many of us, he's just a kid! LOL
i don't believe it
thanks fran
There's a song in my head--Oh, dear lord, these things I pray....
yw emusing!

Not that awful song

Ok Jars of Crack
as far as i'm concerned, he just gets better and better looking!
great minds....
:-D
I was thinking more Godspell than contemporary rock music
me too
facetiously, of course
my fav actors.... Nicholson, Penn, Norton
(because it's neither contemporary, nor rock, nor music)
(still swooning) of course, there's still Johnny Depp and Errol FLynn...
Depp is good too
it's more fun to chat than to look for these stupid words
ooooh johnny....
Has anyone here played Literati
yes, Literati is fun.
and Edward Norton
A little easier
I can't think of 244 words in a day
that's crazy talk.

love pulp fiction
Alan Rickman is brilliant!
and for funnies i am into Will Ferrell at the moment,,, that Anchorman was hilarious (with the 40-yr-old virgin guy)
Steve Carell
that's the one
the jazz flute scene was ROFL
and Malcolm McDowell in his Clockwork Orange days
brb
Une--love Mr McDowell and Peter O'Toole
and Alan Rickman in Closet Land . . . ohmygod
Just read the chat.I walked out of Pulp Fiction. It is the only movie I have ever walked out on. But I have seen it several times since then on cable television.
I walked out of The English Patient...
oh noooooo!
oh noooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Yep, i did
Did you guys realize that facetious is one of the few English words that have all five vowels in order? Just a little English trivia for you Babblers and word lovers
Someone gave me the whole first season of "Nip Tuck" or whatever that series is called.... I put in the first DVD.... 25 seconds later i turned it off! YUCK!!
pam, why?
I only know one other person who hated it as much as I did, but she did not walk out, she felt her companions would kill her
ok, I have to ask, why didnt you like nip tuck bam?
thinkI'll sit this out for awhile
It bored me endlessly, which is odd, as I like character movies
I have seen the English Pateint several time on cable.
the first scene was some close-up of a liposuction or smtg and i nearly threw up
I don't like any horror flics either
english patients is one of my all time favorite movies -- and ralph fiennes ..... and as for nip/tuck -- i have 2 words julien mcmahon --- ahhh
I could not get interested in the characters or their plights
i don't appreciate gore, but i love to be scared.
I don't know, and I really like Ralph Fiennes
give me comedy, romance, drama, to quote Nirvana... here we are now, entertain us. I don't want to be frigthened just entertained haahahahah
yeah, I guess it is kind of graphic, but Julian or Dr. Troy is a hottie and I know he is an Aussie too.
I refuse to watch horror movies! Why pay $10.00 to sit in a theater with your eyes closed? I hate them!!
I don't usually tell people, as I am so in the minority...
ooh debb, i think he's gorgeous too!
he is my dream man!!!
ditto
I prefer serious probing kind of movies, but I too absolutely loathed the english patient.
Really, mab?
Really, mab?
really really.
lol--that dupelication thing is something I haven't mastered
it was maddening. I can't say exactly why I found it so.
I saw it in Cambridge, MA. Left my partner in the theatre and I wandered
I hate to interrupt this interesting topic, but I need some clues badly please.I guess you guys are all done?
i like foreign films as well.... they seem to have better characters... and more dialogue.. and they're not hung up about nudity... and I speak a bit of French... things like The Swimming Pool
ask away min!
Done, Minver? Surely you jest!
and i went to a nip/tuck night at the museum of tv - and he seems so nice in person (and stunning as well)
Does anyone have a clue for the tr 5/16 word please?
i also like movies that are loaded with stars doing cameos etc... like the Breakfast Club/St. Elmo's/Big Chill and more recently Love Actually
like you, pam, i didn't really care for the characters. also, I irrationally hold ralph fiennes part in schindlers list against him.
tr5,16 is a treasure tr*** of excitement
min, tr5/16 is treasure tr***
adore ralph fiennes
i HATE rafe fines (as he says it)
would kill to see him on stage
Curious--what about that part got to you, mab? Enough to hold it against him, anyway?
a comedy that I adore is the big lebowski, jeff bridges.
Does anyone have a clue for the en 5/10 word please
he's too arty for me.... even tho i LOVE the theatre, i like leading men to be less neurotic ... and leading women to be intelligent and sexy
By the way I found the tr 5/16 right after I asked it.

I'll probably get poo-pooed by this distinguished crowd, but i loved Titanic... the only film i've gone to see twice at the theatre. shame james cameron carried on like such a wanker at the oscars tho.!!
well, i'll probably get slammed but I thought it was a bore
Never saw, it Bam...but there are movies I have seen more than once Rocky Horror Resurrection with Ellen Burstyn Tender Mercies
bambam, i liked it too, but didn't understand how people could go back again and again and again.

i had a mild case of it when i was younger, another friend had a bad attack, he's paranoid now of eating bad fish!
don't you just love the internet bambam? if only it were a real word!! :-)
hi nrkii!
it really is an awesome invention..... think back 15 years and it didn't exist... how did we find stuff out? hahahaah
anyone got a dictionary? no? ok well i guess i won't find out what that word is...
i've always loved looking things up in encyclopedias and dictionaries, it's so much easier now.
ugh, "interpret" shoulda been in here

Kettles nrkii? like "The Egg and I" or like making tea?

in 6/21: the sole of the foot just under the arch -- does that help Min?
we've covered movies, actors, presidents, fish, water-boiling devices, and the existence (or lack thereof) of the internet! i'm exhausted!!
and it didn't really dawn on me that this meant my parents would lose me... because I'd be going to live with my new ROYAL parents
bambam...can i have one for my birthday? PLEEEEZE???
another way to clue the in 6/21 is in +st 4....

in 5/10 the first is something that doesn't react with other substances
okay, i'm back! looks like i missed a lot!
anyway, I was laughing about it here, and about 15 mins later, my mother logged on to babble and was watching me chat -- kind of glad she didn't see my flip commentary about trading in the normal parents for the royal ones ... lol
the second is to put something into a background -- like wood marquetry
only if ya promise me that diamond ...but u'll hafta wrench it from Jill first LOL
the third is to "entomb"
does anyone have a clue for the ne 4/4 between the tides and what this lack of word is getting on...my *****s
