Seems like 'latin
Seems like 'latin' must be capitalized
How can there be a qu4/7? I don't understand that. The Q is 5 alone.
43 words, and Dear One just shuffled off to bed
Hi Dilli, Maynegirl, how's the cold?
Hi flosey - getting better - just irritating cough left!
msilver think vowels
Good Afternoon Everyone
do take care
lain
OOOps
hi tiny
Morning Tiny ;)
hello again floesy - I've been all over the map!
thx flosey :) - you still back East?
I thought vowels count as points just as consonants do. 4 tiles add up to 7. the q is 5. It doesn't seem possible.
Hi again dilly!
msilver, the qu counts as 2 letters
so 3 tiles for 7 pts
Welcome back.MG!
Oh....that explains. Thx.
thx dilly - how was poker last week?
yes MG, still in Toronto, back Nov 1
Will be good to get back to bridge with you.
falling asleep, must get to bed, g'nite all
yes MG, I look forward to games
Fun ,but no cigar.
nite and sweet dreams ,flosie

hi Ornith
so u say hi to ornith but not to me meanies!!!! (thanks taz)
hi montana
hello montana
*sadly peels the banana for the monkey too drowsy to type*
If bananas don't work anymore, it is time for coffee with lots of sugar. Believe me, they will love it ;)
'meanie' - now that was a word from yesterday's grid that took me some time finding!
I'm thinkin' banana daquiri about now... :) Why isn't freaque a word? A sorta ritzy freak?
I want 'quilp'. Not for any real reason. Just because it sounds so great.
Hi everyone - how goes it - The Qu seems to stick out like a challenge!
yes, sprite, like "snile"
Is the W a babblet, or a real word?
Mornin', Ang! :)
hey Angb

hi angb
hi angb

Thank you, chic, I found a teeny version on google but the site that had the big 'un seemed to have taken it down -- oh well!
Yeh I had major probs getting in. Although I thought it might be my connection - the clouds are low over the hills.
taz, no kept getting an error msg about the server...
Nor is Spain, Jilli.

Taz, pl the bird
LEt's see, there is the bird and it's plural. if you remove the last letter on the bird, you'll have another, then plural that.

Chic, let me try again, it was on p 7 tiny size.
There are three qu 6/27's. The first has a slew of vowels in it.
Oh no is there Bunny
I've got qu6/27s "charming" and birds... missing that first one too
Chic, whoa, there it is; I did ankh blue and ankh tie-dye, silly me. Would it be okay with you if I used it here some day? You had it first.

Thanks, Sprite, now only missing one q.
there is a lone e in the 3rd row of the stats any clue for it please?
Finally got the last one, so if I can clue your missing one?
which one ankh
Don't see an E in the 3rd row
I have latinate question, a key, a bird, birds, charming, keys, the thing that is not married to a king, a clever remark, several remarks.
3rd column I think
sprtie in the tile stas rihgt above the f 3rd row
ankh, take a drink
Oh, for pete's sake. Txs, Ornith.
ankh you are missing the one to drink
You need Q5/28, ends in a double cons
yw ankh
I thought I'd done that.
Taz - arm an army
grey Q :)
Wrong e - I hate that!
ty angb going ot look
angb, that word comes from the E next to the H
ah, you mean 3rd column indeed. Tolkien's treelike creature + 2 vowels.
key?
but thanks! :P
Like the FLorida Keys, Jilli. Same word, but different language.
key alt. spelling, jilli :)
Mais non?
o, ok, ty ankh
Oooh, nice clue, Sprite.
que?
I was thinking door key
well, that's all the e's for me :)
Nah, other kind of key entirely.
Think I'll get a coffee - getting confusing here ... need legal drugs
I know now - have all the q's
think I'm going to do the rest tomorrow afternoon while I do laundry. Sleepy, possibly slightly drunk = not finding words well.
by ornith
night Ornith
recharge your babble brain with a good snooze, ornith.. goodnight
49 left, Dear One is asleep. I need to join in, so... zzzz's for me! Bye, all, thanks for the chat & clues, I'm following Ornith out the door.
67 words, but missing 4 7s, both 8s & a 9 - something to tackle tomorry. laila tov all.

ty purl for the hint
break time need wateer
bye sprite if I'm not too late!
fr 8/70 ..... often
sheesh - got that ta9 - ty purloined
Jilli- do you have any other clues for that ta9?
ta 9 difficult to clue: first four letters rhyme with laugh + *** (poetic word for before) + consonant
then plural it for ta9: I actually clued ta8
dr, if you are the primary care physician for a patient, you may send your patient to a specialist .... you make a re*******.......the ta 9 sort of sounds like that
hi all, got the ta9, what is the other 9
Thanks Purloine and Aloyisius
li 9
the other 9 is li9 - someone who changes something from a solid to ssomething which flows
yw, dr9397... that's fireworks for me, so I'll be off to slumberland too.. happy babbling, all!

good morning
Hi everyone - back again
does anyone remember Quisp cereal?
Not I
I just can't get the li9 at all, any help out there?
in honor of today's puzzle I am changing my icon to Quisp Cereal
Someone who turns thinks into water lizmac
hey..i found the 10 q's..woohoo..gonna take a break
thanks Ang (and liz for asking)
I get the first 4 letters(I think!) but can't seem to even monkey the rest!!
Drop the r from the thing you cook chips in for the ending
if a company goes bankrupt, it gets li*******. the li9 is the guy / gal who does that li thing
I made a mistake earlier in the second vowel of the beginning - it's the second not the third vowel
one of the vowels is not what you might expect, liz
my monkey just keeled over...can anyone help with the first fa5/16
fa ... lose consciousness
2 different spellings (and meanings) of same sounding word chj
I don't know if it's the first ... but to swoon? chj
Yes, and then to pretend
Lovely didn't see that lizmac
nono the first fa5/16 before not to succeed
faena
the first fa ... add the first 3 letters of the the procedure to flush the intestines
sorry
but that was it
you got it
Ya wanna do my grid chj - would take the stress off me and you'd probably get it done in half the time I do. (Grin)
hahah angb
any clues before i go
mine too please, STILL can't get the li9
I don't even know what I haven't got chj. See you later maybe. Nite
Any hint on the sp 7/32?
And the sp 5/12 -- my last 2 words
li + what Manuel says in Fawlty Towers + fe f* fo fum + american medical doctors series
Fireworks
lizmac - Like fluid but take off the last two letters * second vowel + chip cooker - r
someone who tells tales ARB
sp7 a person who sp5/12s
sp5 sp + eye + subway above ground
liz ..... li + pictures*** + anagram of fire
Thnx chj - I dont' feel so bad - had the 5 - not used to endings on words after the last couple of grids
I know what word you're getting at, but it keeps on being refused. What's going on here?
Don't have any more than 2 3rd vowels in it!
Have 2 2nd vowels in it
sh4!!!!!! How thick a chick can I be, ty for spoonfeeding me folks. got it!
yay liz!
It's OK lizmac - I am like that every night ...
Now the other 78 LOL
It's ok folks, I'm off to bed, night shift. You'll all get some peace for a while!
Have a good sleep lizmac - it will all come clear later.
I greatly admire optimism Angb
It is the only thing that keeps me going on the grid - and another glass of wine also
glasses of wine are essential!
How are you ata? How did your art go in the comp?
don't know yet! comp finishes at the end of the month :) I'm trying desperately to find time to do a similar Inuit-esque thing, but I'm not sure I'll manage
Now it's interesting that you say that. Our new entrant teacher did a project on the teaching of Inuit children ... supposedly their culture and history has much in common with the Maori.
I think they do ... they definitely have the same *feel* anyway, I don't know enough to know any details! Inuit mythology is quite amazing, so different to what we're used to hearing about. They have polar bears and walruses and killer whales and stuff in their myths!
fireworks
Congratulations, ruthy
Might see if I can source some stories / myths then. Be right up my son's alley. He has done his weekend project - What he wants to be when he grows up. Just 9 years and he want to be a marine biologist
Congrats, ruthy!
Yehah ruthy
morning all
Hi ren
Hello
good morning
smallish grid but I reckon it could be quite difficult
Well I am having problems - but that's nothing new
only 101 words to go
bye everyone
Good night
bye ruthy, well done
Bye ruthy
Good morning all. A civilised grid in size, let's see how it behaves.
Morning Haz
Hi haz
I have 68 left, but it
Hi Haz
oops, but it is slow going now.
about the same here, Duval
Well, no outright moans so it must be okay.
39 left here and the list is tempting.
Mornin' All...how's the grid?
HI Odin. OK I suppose if you have help
Good morning Odin. Not long here either.
Hi Odin, only just started too
Mornin' Haz, Angb, ren
good morning, Odin. Nice to see someone else is up on the continent
good for him, ang! marine biology is definitely the way to go :) there is a wonderful legned about the goddess of the sea, Sedna. She has hair that is so long it wraps around all the northern seas, and the animals of the water get caught up. This leads to poor hunting for the Inuit, and then it is the shaman's job to "swim" down to find Sedna, and comb out her hair so that the animals are released and the hunts are plentiful again
Hey peb...4 am on a Sunday morning and what am I doing?...The usual!
*dives into grid* ...only 122... how hard can that be... morning all :)
*F*I*R*E*W*O*R*K*S*
WTG hannah !!!!
morning sherb
woohoo hannah!!
Yay, Hannah!
Mornin' sherb
Congratulations, hannah!
congrats hannah
Congratulations Hannah!
morning Odin :)
i'm impressed Hannah, I have 60 left now.
the first 60 are easy, sherb...
Sherb...alot of us are just beginning ... a third cup of coffee and I may actualy see the letters clearly ;]
Well done Hannah
a G would be so good to go with that IN...
lol sherb
Hey sherb - you the sherb on QP that got the weekly prize?
hi Angb :) ...yep, that's me... actually, I was second on points, but Spock won last week...
amused had a brilliant Honeycomb solution yesterday...
Congrats though -
I'll have to have a look - don't usually play that - too little time after Babble.
thank you :)
interesting... there's an sp6/21 which begins like an area of London... Sp****fields... never realised the origin of the name until now...
it was ye olde leper-filled place for a good while
ah, also interesting... I'm always intrigued by the story of Balckheath... that's it's the place where people who dies of the Plague were buried, and that's why it hasn't been built on...
*Blackheath... *died... nice topics for a Sunday morning...:)
oh really? that *is* interesting! I'm still half surprised that S*****fields was dug up, they had so many troubles both with hospital bones and old Roman occupation sites
and I suppose that would explain why its called Black heath. always wondered that
the commercial pressure is so great, nowhere in London is safe... I heard on the news yesterday that UNESCO are thinking of taking the Tower of London off the list of World Heritage Sites because it's under threat from skyscrapers... seems like being a WHS should *protect* it from skyscrapers...
you'd have hoped so, wouldn't you!
One of today's silliest words sw6/33 - the freely swinging part of a flail, which falls upon the grain in threshing. Morning all :)
Good morning FMitch!
Sorry I just noticed your little talk about Blackheath and it intruiged me... I did a search, but according to Wikipedia: "The name is a corruption of "bleak heath" and not, as popularly believed, from the dark colour of the soil, nor from the burial of victims of the Black Death on the heath in the 14th century."
morning FMitch :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackheat h,_London
Morning Haz, how are you finding the grid so far? Hi sherb
I'm just over half-way through, quite pleased to find a favourite word (pa5/12)
Mornin' FMitch
I always wondered, Tasmin... but it seems like such a good story... and Blackheath is such an amazing open space...
Greetings Odin
Indeed Sherb! And it doesn't give any other explanation for why it hasn't been built on, apart for maybe the fact that it's the spot where golf was introduced to England, but I can hardly believe that'd be a good reason.
Could it be covered by some royal charter or something?
Oh that could be a possibility Haz.
Loving this conversation about Blackheath in London, but I must get to bed. See you in a few hours.
Or maybe it's been ear-marked for Tony and Cherie's retirement place.
urf, I have to go too, someone tell me what the conclusions about Blackheath are at some point, please!!
We'll see what can be discovered. I suspect FMitch and sherb are knee-deep in research already.....
nite pebbles :) later Atalante :) ...I'm off too, must get the papers... must get to the bottom of the Blackheath subject later... :)
lol not at the moment but have made a note or two.
its the best place in london to hold a fireworks display - that might help LOL *poofs*
Bye Atalante!
Our dissertations will be on your esk in the morning Haz :)
Good, I look forward to that!
Are you finished yet, FMitch?
The grid, rather than the dissertation.
No I have gone to the list and still have 22 to find.
There are some great words I've not come across before in babble or the "real word"
I enjoyed finding the dance related pl4/5 and re4/4. It brought back memories.
hi all!
Hello FranMag!
just got here, how's the grid?
Hey Fran
hi haz! hi fmitch!
It's quite interesting so far, mostly individual words rather than sequences.
those are usually the hardest.
oh well, i started already so it doesn't matter anyway.
And it's short, so it can't do that much damage to your nerves.
that's the good part i guess
I'll remind you that you said that Haz :)
Yes, you probably will!
Q's finally greyed out.
i need one more
Hi again - I am sure words are falling out of my wordlist. LOL
I'm missing one q - they've all been normal words so far - is there a peculiar one?
hi angb!
I have 43 to go after some serious monkey typing!
1st q is a 6/27 and has 3 vowels do you have that one?
2 q 5/16s are unfamiliar to me
No, that's the missing one. I get my deerstalker on to go looking.
that's the one i'm missing than.
*excluding the u there are 3 other vowels Haz
one qu 6/27 is the plural of the game bird
Thanks FMitch (u now excluded from the vowel count)
the other is a word for a bit eccentric
yay! got it, thanks fmitch!
Got it now, thanks - peculiar!
yay Fran
You calling me peculiar? lol
exactly haz! :-)
Moi? Never!
morning all..
Good morning rolin.
there are soooo mnay almost words today
Morning rolin
hi rolin!
With an r in the right place I could have had an affair, and if an h had been provided we could have done this grid with relish.
But no spice today!
Phone.
Been working madly on the grid...Mornin' to all I missed.
be back in a bit
How are you getting on Odin?
Bye Fran - I must take a break to make myself look a bit more civilised. Back later.
I have 66 left and really struggling
Bye Haz and Fran
Later Haz
It is a bit of a teaser for a Sunday Odin
Absolutely...I thought I'd get r done quickly and that's not going to happen. How 'bout you?
1st 1/2 half went OK an dI pikced up some great clues from the log earlier but have halted now. 20 left and I too am going to have to depart for a while
Your in way better shape than I am...Later
See ya FMitch
Hi and Bye Ang

wale
oops
Hi sapphie
Good morning and happy Sunday! How's the grid?
hi matty and angB
Good lord, a pair of 8s and 9s in this little grid
The grid is quit easy. Only took me 9 hours!
Hi matty
howdy mattygroves & Angb
Quiet this morning...
A lot of people just started matty - so think they are in the grid. I am just about to finish ... 5 more to go.
Well done Ang! Are the eights and nines real words?
1 of the 8's is. And maybe a 9
Hope that doesnt' put you off
ta8 & 9 are a little odd
Back for another go at the grid, 44 left to find.
fr8 and li 9 are standard everyday words though
Fireworks - Before midnight - with huge help from my friends
congrats ang
Well done, Angb. Congratulations!
i cant get the fr8
There is a tile in the middle that counts for 2 tiles - that kept on tripping me up
any help with the li 9 ??
fr 8 one who is a regular customer is said to fr8 the establishment
purple laydee - if something happens often it happens fr******ly
Some one who turns things into fluids
yay! tahnks so much!
Sorry that's the li
thanks Angb.
You are welcome
li 9 is the person who changes a solid to another form; or, the one who is in charge of a going-out-of business sale
thanks purl
Anyway I will see goodnight to you all - and if you live the other side of the dateline - good morning. See ya all happy babbling
*say
goodnight Angb.. from this side of the dateline
good night, Angb
Night Angb
Night Ang - (morning for us)
since when has 'naff' not been a word??? Or do I read too many SF books?
Thanks for that fr8 and li9. I like naff as a word, Sunny!
It doesn't accept latin either. It's just one of those things.
So that's one eight and one nine down. And the other...
ta8/70 and ta9/90 - start out looking like a material, then turns into an anagram of a dance
the ta 9 is a plural that goes in a clockwise direction touching the borders on all sides of the grid ...... it ends with a term for wild animals or domested animals that have returned to the wild, with a different last vowel
should be "domesticated"
fab clue purloined :)
ty
i dont get it!
Thanks Haz and Purloined!
You're welcome, matty.
It apparently means: The upper part of a ship's stern, which is flat like a table on the top, and sometimes ornamented with carved work; the rail around a ship's stern.
i just got the answer but didnt understand the clue. the beginning is more like that sweet u eat
Glad you got is, purple.

Theres a peculiar qu6/27 right at the start.
missing a 5/16 too
And see if you need a royal qu5/16
Haz, before the qu5/28?
yes, there is a 6/27
The peculiar qu6/27 is before the qu5/28. Lots of vowels in the word.
Thanks Haz! That's one...
Good for you The other one might be qu5/16 before qu4/8.

Managed to get to73 - calling it a day. Off to get some fresh [and wet] air. Happy babbling. see you tomorrow.
That is some "red sky in the morning" Atalante!

I thought the lightning was fireworks and thought my dog was going to have a heart attack he was so frightened
can I have a clue for li 9/90, please
http://tinyurl.com/y3sm64 flask :)
Katydid, The one I know is red sky at night, the shepherds delight. Red sky in the morning, the shepherds warning.
and that red sky in the morning thing may be an old poem / tale, but it *works*!
li9 - someone who turns solids into fluids...
thanks, sherb, will work on that clue
Hey sherb, how are you getting on?

oh my ouch! thanks ladies.
pi7 = Edith Pi** + French word for iron...
ta8 is ta+double consonant+more than+plural of a stick letter

stupid word..lol
it is apparently the upper flat part of a ship's stern
Clocia, I am getting close but no cigar, one clue is that it only takes up 6 squares, can you tell me where the two letter square fits into the work. It doesn't look like it is the 3rd square used.
oh yeah very dumb word, but thanks! great clue!
thnx sherb :) any ideas about the sp7/32 please?
and the plural for the 9 of course

rollin..I got an e mail the other day from the online calendar service I am using for the calendars. The free calendars I am using for icons and birthdays are being discontinued. they are moving to a paid format, and I do not want to pay
$100 per year for the calendars since I am using a free webhost. so I found a new, free service.
hmmm....as usual...free until it proves popular..and then it costs
Angle, have you tried google calender?
M3: I did look at Google calendar, but it is not suitable for the babble calendars.
Oh ok just trying to help x

hi hurshy
hi hurshy and bye all
bye annie
afternoon to the brits, sorry :)
afternoon Hurshy
afternoon hurshy
we are having a lovely fall day in new england :)
This is my first chance of finishing the grid if I can ever get the 9 letters. Any clues for the ti 9/90?
Its rainly heavily in England
we are having a rain fall day in Old England
there's nothing like fall in new england... i do love it so
hi hurshy... it's pouring down here...
there's nothing like rain fall in old england ... i do dislike it so. far too wet
ta9 - msilver - think of an old fashioned fabric used for ladies evening wear
i sing the brits a song... raindrops keep fallin' on my head.... but that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red... cryin's not for me... cause... i'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'....because i'm fr4444444444444444, nothin's worryin' meeeeeeeee
very nice hurshy. i'll be singing that song all day now. thanks! NOT.
ursh, I'm thinking of one but I'm not sure if it's 9 letters....wait let me see
clues for the re6/7 combo please...
it only STARTS like the fabric. it ends like a wand'ring minst***
msilver - follow the beginning of that word up the grid to the right
perhaps a synonym for darning a sock, sherb?
Just opened up, and there you are singing, hursh--what a lovely way to start my day!
ursh, does it begin like a candy...salt water *****
glad you liked it hetty
sherb - take your shoes to the cobbler
hursh, it finishes like a cock****
hursh, it finishes like a cock**** \
well, yes, that too hetty
thanks hurshy... done...
i miss a q. all of mine are lovely normal ones except one 5/16 homonym of a royal personage.
and FMitch :)
*arrives and blinks at Hetty -- cockchafer?*
qu6 - lots of vowels?
Congrats sherb
ursh, are you there
just how many are we talking, sherb? all but the q?
cockroach?
Hurshy, I didn't know you could sing.
oh no, i remember it now. thanks sherb.
i sing frequently :)
rooster
one consonant in there... meaning to enquire...
by the way, the new calendars will have printable views.
and what is the other 9 besides the ta?
msiliver - yes it does start like the candy and finishes like minst***
li9 - someone who turns solids to fluids...
the other 9 is an li
minst?
ooh, what a nice word
that makes up a little for my disappointment over not getting "piquant"
hi all, back for my last 20. Can anyone clue the pi6, please?
i thought it was spelled qui, not que, silly me...
i think that that is an excellent idea, natasha
ms - follow your candy/fabric - go left after 2nd cons then up then right up then right up
pi7 minus last letter
pi6 = singer of Je Ne Regrette Rien + symbol for iron...
how lovely. 6 to go now.
pi7 - add a consonant...
thanks
for the T, what's the ta/ti breakdown?
and what's wrong with having a tinpail
5/4
aha, then i need ta's.
do you have the Welsh cosa nostra?
alt spellings...
i don't know, i have just found one...
i have the long ones and a 4 and a 6
5 is alt sp of 6...
yup, there we go! yay
hello
:D
the la's should not be hard... but i miss one... my 2 are homonyms.
hello jane :)
if only dead languages counted.
Oh my G-d, my first 9! even though I can take no credit. I completely cheated. Thank you so much for the time and patience. You wouldn't have the other one, would you?
one sounds like something you buy from Starbucks...
Ursh, that was to you
ty sherb.
mochachocojavalatte?
li9 was just clued, if you scroll down a bit msilver
(the last bit LA) :)
may i have a point total please?
Thx.
1751
thank you sherb, i now look for f5/16
hurshy, it's not there any more and I'd probably need more help than you anyway.
hehe... you'll f5 when you get this...
Ursh, do you like my new kitty?
She's 10 wks
i have a cat genie. i don't have to scoop the poop, because it does it for me, and then it has a li9 which turns it into a more watery substance and sends it out the drain.
i have that sherb, and its homonym.
oh man silver, she is so cute
6/7
thats me
ah, then you want the final third of a bullfight...
yay for kittens :)
the final third of a bullfight??? yikes.
hurshy, was that the clue?
lurking here....not that up on my bullfight terminology
the thing about the cat genie was a clue that i just made for you.
sounds like flora and ...
I'm not familiar with that device.
ah, thank you sherb.
hi, all......
well, i didn't expect you to be, msilver, but i thought maybe you could work out the word from the context i gave you.
msilver, is she part persian?
I'll try
She is Russian Persian....Brown Mackeral Tabby
graçias sherb
ooh, look who's got a cedilla!
hurshy... ever the educator... :)
she's cute. my youngest kitten is now a 18 pound maine coon. he has very few kittenish moments any more.....
what, what did i say?
beautiful kitten, msilver
yw Dorens :)
aw, jane, we had a maine coon cat growing up. they are so pretty
macs are cool like that, hurshy
your li9 clue... either education, or marketing...
the best personality ever, it's like having a labrador for a cat!
or bragging about her lack of contact with cat poop ;)
I mean 'selling' marketing, not 'shopping' marketing...
Ths
Thx
cedilia?
ok, things to do... later all :)
ç ç
final third of a bullfight? Hmm, I came here at an odd time, LOL
oh, yes to sherb and to leslieann. really, i am just trying to share the joy i have found in my cat genie with others. :) :)
thanks, dorens
and i mean, it was just the first thing that came to mind to use for cluing the li9.
got the fa bullfight word...
the cat genie sounds fab!!!!
i thought it was a brilliant clue, for the record
nee d a clue for en 5/10 please
i posted about the catgenie on babanon, other interests. and i put a link to a forum where people discuss all kinds of litterbox options.
in theory, you can point the cat to the door, and never have to have a cat box. that's my theory
en5... is it on the babblet list yet? should be. en+ spanish aunt
however, you know the difference between theory and practice? In theory there is no difference...
one of these days, I'll check it out, hursh... life is too complicated right now, LOL
oh harp, my cats do not go outside at all. we have coyotes and things.
is there really and truly a babblet list, hurshy?
yep dorens, in babanon
yes, on babanon, it is being compiled.
we live in a sort of town, owls and eagles are still a problem for small pets. occasionally cougars ...... am I a bad pet parent?
*admires Dorens' typing skills, ooo ahh*
i love that en--is that an e**** I see before me?
hmmm, good to know. hope i remember next time i need one
oh thanks ankh
bbl
no, harp!
*confused by pam's dagger remark, en-huh??*
harp... i dunno, i just heard that the average lifespan for indoor-only cats is double that of other cats, what with predators, cars, viruses and parasites... so, i have always kept mine inside. it's harder to do if your cats are used to going out though.
Absolutely true, Hurshy.
Yes, they don't live as long, but maybe the next few lives are indoors?
i h ave two... and one is used t going out, the other isn't... i try to keep the older one in, but sometimes it is just too impossible. and she comes back with nasty bites from time to time, and has too go to the vet for shots and stitches and other unpleasanter stuff
lol, maybe.
hi ankhorite
every outdoor cat I've had has lived to past 18
hi all how is it today
Hiya, Charlotte!
it's only an average, ata, obviously it will not apply to every cat.
is jean1953 on?
yeah ... but I'm not sure I believe it.
Ata, are you Eleager?
i guess, also, because i am home a lot, i like to have my cats around me. so it's partly selfish.
lol yes, Ankh
no hurshy if they don't drive you crazy trying to get out, it's fine...and according to my vet it is the way to go
i wonder if it is different in england, maybe england is safer for pets
*very impressed with frog concerto! Will look more later*
I guess there's a big difference between expectations for cats over here and in the US. keeping a cat indoors isnt exactly common here
My very-temporary foster dog is a FIEND and climbed a 5' fence Right In Front Of Me to get to a cat -- the cat got her instead, which she RICHLY deserved.
my cats don't want to go out at all. in fact when i take them out (carrying them) they are only too eager to get back in the house! we have a big enough house that there is plenty of room for them to run around and stuff.
lol ankh
i have a big house too, but the chipmunks and squirrels are very active right outside the patio door and tempt them horribly. the younger one can handle it...the older one goes postiively bonkers
yes, and i know in france the expectations are very different... visited some folks who don't take theirs to the vet.
Oh, LeslieAnn, it's sad but true -- that's why she has to move on to a different permanent home.
http://www.thecatshouse.com/html/catho use/ch_01.htm
Whoa, dog emergency, gotta go, bbl -- luck, all!
I know lots of people here who dont
Where I live, an outside cat would be a fur pancake in no time - busy big city traffic.
good luck ankh
I live in Florida where there are alligators so my cat will definitely always remain indoors.
mine get annual checkups even if they seem perfectly healthy, and i am so paranoid that they wear collars with nametags, even though they don't go out and don't want to, just in case somehow they ever were to get lost.
but i do NOT dress them up in things.
actually my cats get better medical care than my husband, i think :) i can make them go, but not him. lol
frog concerto? what did I miss?
you mean you don't scrunch up into the husband carrier when it's time to go to the doc, hurshy?
lol
yeah i didn't understand about the frog concerto either. was curious about that.
is pic I did that is apparently quite good
ooh, i go look
liquefier
sorry, gang...
ta bash!!!
nice ata. i really like the... tryptich? is that the word? the three photos of "home".
my brain has been through a li9 this morning... ;)
triptych will do!
i THOUGHT the i should come first etymologically but then the y didn't look right to me coming second and i was pretty sure it had a y...
definitely a y
there's a lesson here, folks. always go with your etymological instincts.
these small icons! i thought your dog was the grim reaper from a distance :)
poor Hobbit!
my apologies to hobbit.
only THREE VOWELS?!?!!?!
There's one with the Q -- lol
no, sorry, i was talking about quiddler :)
speaking of Q- can ni get a clue for the first one please
Atalante - still here and want to know about Blackheath?
a bird, dorens? (i'm not done with them yet)
no, thanks leslie but it's before that
What have you found Haz? I got side tracked by Hampstead Heath.
yup and yup!
qu, vowel, before (poetically)
Blackheath was taken into municipal ownership by virtue of the Metropolitan Commons Act 1871 and bye-laws forbid much happening other than mown grass and playing fields.
thanks hurshy.... FMITch do you live by hampsteadheath?
Also the fact that it straddles two council areas means they would never be able to agree about anything.
I did when a child Dorens
a friend lived there once, and we went and visited her, stayed at her house which was two houses downn from John Le Carré-- had a geat week
ohhhhhh
So now we all know!
hmmm that should have been a great week.... i am rushing. 3 left and trying to get out of here
ty Haz and FM!
lol Dorens I knew what you meant! Haz I wondered if there was any connection with Backheath and Greenwich as that was under the Crown but could find little infor prior to 1800 on the net.
You're welcome! And now I must go, this was just a flying visit. Tomorrow we debate the north-south divide.
Ankhorite--I just spent 10 min looking at the cathouse website--very cool! What a cat paradise!
Greenwich seems to have quite a royal connection - there was a palace called Placentia which was replaced by other things (no wonder with a name like that). Blackheath seems to have been more of the people's place!
i got distracted by it too, scrabbler. i just kept thinking it would seem pretty hard to sell that house if they ever wanted to
TIme to go!
Byeeeeee Haz
(and i think ankh had a dog emergency and left)
Yes, they really remodeled that house!
is fr8 a compound word?
I was trying to keep track of all the cats' names--how many cats are living there, I wonder. And where are the litter boxes? And what does the house smell like?
no, but others fr******ly made that mistake, harp
maybe the litter boxes are in the secret cat room.
ahhhh! thanks
why am I having so much trouble with the W word? Is it a cocmman word or a weirdie?
a bit weird. clever humor + article.
can someone repost that cat house link?
I was struggling with that W too, Dorens, then I just gave it up.
thanks hurshy,..thought i had monkeyed that already
www.thecatshouse.com/html/catho use/ch _01.htm

i'd like to see someone make a pilaf out of ccondaleeeeeza
let's see, if it were a "famous french people" restaurant... edith pilaf... chicken charles de gaulle... napoleons for dessert of course
the first qu6?
for breakfast, eggs louis XIV-side up.
I went to a restaurant that had the Harpo omelet. it contained anything you wanted, but you had to pantomime your order....
lol
With lots of Grey Pompidou mustard
and of course, no bread would be served. let them eat ....
cake!
would you like manets on your sandwich?
couldn't you get a ham sandwich on roi bread?
the Marie Antionette sandwich, made with cake, not bread?
first qu 6, harp....lots of vowels...sounds sort of like a question
napoleon's shortcake too
but of course, dessert would be descartes instead of a la carte.
LOL--great ideas from everyone!
mystery meat for the curie-ous
and would it cost not very much Monet?

there could be a no speaking section... the Marceau room

{{{{hugs}}}} so sorry to read about your Mom. You and she will be in my prayers, faerie.
(((Ciocia))) Thank you very much we can use all the prayers we can get right now
count mine too faerie.
I do know that she will not be with us much longer but I also know that she will be out of pain and in a much better place
(((Ibdawger))) Thanks
but she'll always be in your heart and that's the important thing to remember
Difficult time faerie. I've been through a bit of that with my family. Tough decisions, yet you hate to see your loved ones in pain or unresponsive. *sigh*
hi judy
Ibd - yes she will and I now I know for sure that God sent me to Kentucky to be with Mom there is absolutely no doubt in my mind about that
it's also important to take care of you, faerie, which is not an easy thing to do.
Hi, TO!
Hi Judy :0
Did you just move down to Kentucky faerie?
Yes Ciocia I've only been back (home) for 2 months
God works in strange ways, doesn't he? My Dad just moved in with me in June and now has recurring health problems, but it is much easier for me because he is here at my house.
I've been away from KY for 27yrs and all the sudden things started happening in Michigan where I was living and I decided that I'd move back down to KY and WOW my Aunt had a stroke and is now in a nursing home and Mom is on her death bed and this has all happened just since I got here so yes God does work in strange ways
Well, time to take the front porch rugs and tables to the attic for winter storage. :( Hate the thought of snow. cu all later
Yeah, I got an email from FK telling me she had moved back home, that she "needed" to be there. There was not a question in my mind why she was there, I just did not expect it to be so soon.
Later Ciocia thank you for the kind words
keep your spirits up as best you can faerie. I send good thoughts your way and strength for you to get through these trying days. Feel free to e-mail me anytime and "talk".
hello
((((Tamara)))) I love you....you have helped me so much and you know that there is nothing I wouldn't do for you. You have lost your Dad your Mom your Brother your Sister in-law in such a short time span it's amazing what we can endure
bye judy - hi harp
Hiya Harp
Thanks Ciocia I may have to take you up on that
It is sad, but you sorta get used to it. You just deal with whatever you are given and go one with your life. I miss them but life does go on.

sp 7?
april, one who gives the sp5/12
fran, I should explain it a bit more. I think the way it looks here is the Chinese for China (mei kuo in the old transliteration) and looked at sideways it's the English. I should have given credit to the artist but don't remember who it was - will check it out and put it in the profile. Actually, it was supposed to move but didn't here.
now i see the china, that's cool
which sp 5/12?
very clever icon jilli
the one right before it that means long story
april, tale teller
Andree, I don't think I have that one
april, it's a german word for song, I think

That might have been nice. No color in the chat room today tho, everybody is black & white
Except for aknitter stocking
i think i need to start a new project
Think I'll go on safari and look for tomorrows icon. bbl What color will your new project by aknitter?
it looks like no one needs clues. are you done too knitter?
I want to know how everyone knows they need a "sp5/18" or whatever. I have no clue what I'm looking for
kitrine, click on the link for "angelsong's babble page" below the grid, it explains the point system and the cluing system also.
and you may want to check out "lickety's babble clues" also, that's where we get the first two letters of the words.
i am not done i was off knitting a new project!
Hello all!
hi pebblespeople!
Now i match everyone else
Now i match everyone else
hiccup
cute knitter!
can anyone tell me the other N word from the right hand N please
except pebbles brought color to the chat log
one is a type of palm tree and one is little bites.
I chose the Quisp cereal box because today's puzzle reminds me of that cereal.
does anyone else remember Quisp?
hmmm a type of palm tree, that would give you an unfair advantage LOL
i always try quisp, but it's still not a word!
we have no palm trees in new england (only plastic ones)
knitter, just change the last letter of the little bites to a vowel.
ty fran
yw knitter!
i remember quisp, but i don't think i've ever eaten it.

OK, I have the pointy thing on a church, the plug of wood, and the sales pitch.
how bout the ta9, jilli
(I had to look 1 of those up)
The latter two are anagrams of each other.
ta9 - starts like saltwater ta**y, add holy mack*** for the 8 and pl for the 9
jinxie, here are the sp5/12s in order s + bucket sp + sounds like consumed sales pitch one who observes secretly anagram of sales pitch
mack****
Thanks, jilli! My monkey was getting tired!
Ty fran -

Jillibus, my icon is our new little kitty I just got for Sarah. We named her Sasha. She's 10 wks old
she is a sweet kitty!
yes, dear "Little Silver" told me about her and how she sleeps on her bed and what a little bundle of fur she is.
She is so sweet and calm. We adore her. She is russian and my grandparents all came from Kiev so we named her Sasha.
morning
oh what a precious kitty...*making sure my baby didn't see that or he'd be jealous*
hi daisy!
hi lady
hi Stid :)
msiler that kitty is sooooooo cute
Jillibus, I know you need to cook dinner so I won't burden you by asking for clues. We did great tonight. This was our best ever but still not finished.
hi stid
Ah! I have a 17-year-old longhaired calico who just arrived one day and adopted us. She came with me all the way from Montreal to the West Coast and is such a good girl who never chases birds.
I'm happy to keep on clueing so ask away!
There were a couple of left in the litter if anybody is interested. The lady was sweet. I have her number.
I could use some qu ones
Kitrine - do you have any of the q ones?
I have 3/10
Mine is a long haired Persian but looks Calico sort, doesn't she? She's considered a brown mackerel and white or something like that.
I would love a kittie silver bu i son't think they can fit through the internet
the 4/8, plural of that one and one of the 6/27's
Well I am off to the shops Bye for now
They ship on Continental. Where are you again?
they all start with qua except the last one, which is a diff spelling of the feminine monarch but means just the opposite!
im in australia
thanks for the clue jillbus
Oh, that might be difficult.
still very cute kitty, we get access visits for my friends dog
which 3 do you have, Kit?
I'm up to 5 now, but quaint, quip, quail and the 2 plural versions
ooo, don't put the words here -- just their meanings!
sorry.
Kitrine, we don't post words in the log...
opps thats ok kit just rember next time
say for instance the li 4/5 is something you kiss with
quaen
you need qu + first vowel + old version of ever
sorry, wrong box
Jill -- that was my last Qu! thanks
and another q meaning "drink"
and I have just passed halfway. Off to grab a list. br
yw, stid!
brb
Jillibus, Do you have a clue for sp 5, 12 , the one that is the anagram for the word to lure; and sp 7, 32; and there might have even been another sp 5, 12 I didn't get. I also didn't get the sp 6, 21. I'm so sorry.
sp5/12 - sales talk and the one who does it is 7/32. There's an anagram of a church steeple 5/12 too. The 6/13 is to do with the backbone
kitrine ive done the same befor
Maybe I don't get the luring thing!
can i have a cl;ue for the il 4/4 please
Kit - we've ALL done the wrong box, and often!
jillibus, that's what I meant by sales pitch. Someone said another word was an anagram of that word
there are 2 il 4/4s - one is surrounded by water, the other is i + a meadow
I had the one about the back bone
um jill i think you thinking is and an il thanks i counldn
my head around it
silver - s + a heap
Jillibus, there are two sp 6, 21
sorry - sp6/21 is expectorate + poor Mr Gore

All right, down to my final word -- and it's a 9. li 9/90
um i have an impacted wisdom tooth and a dodgy tooth next to it, thankfully the icky helping drugs have killed the infection so i am closer to normal
um pdb cant help you not there yet
he6/21 - a blue one is a kind of dog, or someone who does shoe repairs
thanks jill
I didn't know that was a kind of dog, jilli
can I get a clue on the fr8?

THanks, pdb *slap me with a salmon*
Still missing one of the first three sp5/12's. Any clues?
Jill, I need more help on the LI9 please?
Button, in 5/ 10 means silly or lacking sense
li9 - person who changes stuff into liquid
Mooch, one is s + pa 4/5
LI 9 - cash out
i am a cat person but i didn't think the america and canada had those dogs
Thanx pdb, that was it!
li9 - hmmm - li + *** sera, sera, + french for proud
sp 5 - think used care salesman - he gives you a sp 5 to buy a lemon
oops *car* not care
I think we were using a blender mode for the li9
thinking.... *brain is fuzzy*
lady, we have the red kind and a blue kind of that breed here
lady, dog people (I mean those who show, breed, train) are aware of dog breeds all over the world
We had a lovely blue heeler when I lived in Illinois-called her Abby (short for Abnormal) because she 'herded' my sons when they were out playing. :)
Oh, nice clue kitrine
need to feed the monkeys often people
got it! thanks everyone... it was hard!
Kitrine, your clue was the key for me!
careful, ctr!
PDB, I don't get the clue for the in 5/10
stid, I don't have a blender
Sorry...never been on here before... Now I realize my mistake...
my partners was the runt of the litter and he hand fed her. She was the size of his hand. She lived till she was 20years old then died in her sleep, after saying bye to everyone.
jilli you got a monkey?
in 5 - a stupid boss who makes in5 decisions
think about asylums for the in5/10 but take out the s
I just googled blue heeler to see what one looks like. I would not have guessed they could be the size of a hand. They look quite sturdy.
um one you use a blender it turns solids into li? thus making you a li 9
anyone have clues for the ai5/10 or the ap5/12?
Kitrine, ai 5/10, where a bride walks
lady, I actually do have a blender but it's so ancient it doesn't have a setting for that
yep pdb she was only the size of small dog, not medium sized, but she did get fat as his mum fed her steak
jilli you need to feed that monkey more often
brb shower need
Ap = the Ap*** way (missing a letter)
need a clue for in 5/10 PLEASE

hi, helen & stid!
Where in Aus??
melbourne
I'm queensland
hi, min!
I am 12
sunny how expensie are the bananas where you are
in your profile it says 89, lol
errr i hate this keyboard
I know...lol
$11 - $15 per kilo depending on store or farmers market
you may well be the youngest, there is bex, not sure exactly how old she is, but in your age group
Actually, I need the first qu 6/27 word if you have it.
I have the old fashioned word and the bird word now.
damn thats what they are here
for bananas - what's a kilo - i buy bananas on sale only - usually 29 cents/pound
and no sign of things getting better.... My daughter is in withdrawal
I don't know Bex...
either a kilo is really alot, or your $ is pretty worthless OR your bananas are outrageously expensive
Okay,I'm stopping at 100 words. Thanks for the clues
bex is from england, usually on during the day - i haven't seen her for a long time myself
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
1000grams to kilo? All our crops damaged in cyclone and prices soared
helen stupidly expensive there was a cyclone early this year and i think the figures are 10per cent of crop left
Bye bye minveryork
1 kilorgam = 2.2 pounds
dollar is pretty weak as well
yeah - that gram thing doesn't help - i was raised immune to the metric system
I went on daily I would say, maybe even a year ago! I have only made visits since then, I am back for awhile though.
holy crap - that's CRAZY !!!!
nite, min
tx jili
good nite minver

And Helen's is Helen upside down!
itsonme - "little silver" is 11 - the daughter of msilver
These are fun!
herinfern - i've been eating a banana a day for decades now - i probably would fork it over :(((
cool.
mine is also China in Chinese
itsonme - see what a great education you're getting here on babble :)
=) I know!
i wish i could i think the prices will drop next year but the drought here is killer most of the crops so were heading into fairly screwed territory
yes - that is what makes jili's so very cool
Really?! Wow!
you said it herinfernallady!
well - i can't see that importing sould be all that pricey - i mean it's not like there are a whol lotta banana plantation on the contiguous us - most of ours come from south america
i just asked for two pieces of toast in the coffee
I'm not going to change my icon to tomorrow's theme because I don't know anything about it
